Opis:
In this paper some properties of functions belonging to the space Wy[a,b] of generalized Hölder functions are considered. These functions are r-times differentiable and their r-th derivatives satisfy the generalized Hölder condition. The main result of the paper is a proof of the fundamental lemma that the recursive model-defined functions ℎk: I × Rk+1 → R, k = 0,1, … , r are a special form and belong to the space Wy[a,b].

Opis:
In 1984 J. Clunie and T. Sheil-Small proved ([2, Corollary 5.8]) that for any complex-valued and sense-preserving injective harmonic mapping \(F\) in the unit disk \(\mathbb{D}\), if \(F(\mathbb{D})\) is a convex domain, then the inequality \(|G(z_2)-G(z_1)| < |H(z_2)- H(z_1)|\) holds for all distinct points \(z_1, z_2 \in \mathbb{D}\). Here \(H\) and \(G\) are holomorphic mappings in \(\mathbb{D}\) determined by \(F = H + \overline{G}\), up to a constant function. We extend this inequality by replacing the unit disk by an arbitrary nonempty domain \(\Omega\) in \(\mathbb{C}\) and improve it provided \(F\) is additionally a quasiconformal mapping in \(\Omega\).

A new Kantorovich-type convergence theorem for Newton's method is established for approximating a locally unique solution of an equation F(x)=0 defined on a Banach space. It is assumed that the operator F is twice Fréchet differentiable, and that F', F'' satisfy Lipschitz conditions. Our convergence condition differs from earlier ones and therefore it has theoretical and practical value.

This paper focuses on the global practical Mittag-Leffler feedback stabilization problem for a class of uncertain fractional-order systems. This class of systems is a larger class of nonlinearities than the Lipschitz ones. Based on the quasi-one-sided Lipschitz condition, firstly, we provide sufficient conditions for the practical observer design. Then, we exhibit that practical Mittag-Leffler stability of the closed loop system with a linear, state feedback is attained. Finally, a separation principle is established and we prove that the closed loop system is practical Mittag-Leffler stable.

Opis:
The problem of time-optimal control of linear hyperbolic systems is equivalent to the computation of the root of the optimal value function of a time-parametric program, whose feasible set is described by a countable system of moment equations. To compute this root, discretized problems with a finite number of equality constraints can be used. In this paper, we show that on a certain time-interval, the optimal value functions of the discretized problems converge uniformly to the optimal value function of the original problem. We also give sufficient conditions fot Lipschitz and Hoelder continuity of the optimal value function of the original problem.

Opis:
Fault input channels represent a major challenge for observer design for fault estimation. Most works in this field assume that faults enter in such a way that the transfer functions between these faults and a number of measured outputs are strictly positive real (SPR), that is, the observer matching condition is satisfied. This paper presents a systematic approach to adaptive observer design for joint estimation of the state and faults when the SPR requirement is not verified. The proposed method deals with a class of Lipschitz nonlinear systems subjected to piecewise constant multiplicative faults. The novelty of the proposed approach is that it uses a rank condition similar to the observer matching condition to construct the adaptation law used to obtain fault estimates. The problem of finding the adaptive observer matrices is formulated as a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) optimization problem. The proposed scheme is tested on the nonlinear model of a single link flexible joint robot system.
