Przedstawione zostały liniowe układy hybrydowe opisane modelem ogólnym układu dwuwymiarowego. Podane zostały warunki zewnętrznej i wewnętrznej dodatniości układu hybrydowego. Sformułowano problem realizacji dla hybrydowych układów liniowych w postaci dwuwymiarowego modelu ogólnego. Zaproponowano metodę wyznaczania realizacji dla danej właściwej macierzy transmitancji operatorowych. Sformułowano procedurę wyznaczania realizacji, którą zilustrowano przykładem numerycznym.
Linear hybrid system described by the general two-dimensional model is proposed. Conditions for external and internal positivity of hybrid systems are given. The realization problem for linear hybrid systems described by the general model is formulated. The method for finding a realization of a given proper transfer matrix is proposed. A procedure for computation of a realization is proposed and illustrated by a numerical example.

Opis:
The problem of the stability of a class of stochastic linear hybrid systems with a special structure of matrices and a multiplicative excitation is considered. Sufficient conditions of the exponential p-th mean stability and the almost sure stability for a class of stochastic linear hybrid systems with the Markovian switching are derived. Also, sufficient conditions of the exponential mean-square stability for a class of stochastic linear hybrid systems satisfying the Lie algebra conditions with any switching are found. The obtained results are illustrated by examples and simulations.
W pracy rozważony został problem stabilności klasy liniowych stochastycznych układów hybrydowych ze szczególną strukturą macierzy i multiplikatywnym szumem. Znalezione zostały warunki wystarczające dla eksponencjalnej p-średniej stabilności i eksponencjalnej stabilności prawie na pewno dla klasy stochastycznych liniowych układów hybrydowych z Markowskim przełączaniem. Dodatkowo podane zostały warunki wystarczające dla eksponencjalnej stabilności średnio-kwadratowej dla klasy stochastycznych liniowych układów hybrydowych z dowolnym przełączaniem spełniających warunki Lie algebry. Otrzymane wyniki zilustrowane zostały przykładami i symulacjami.

Recently a huge progress in the field of electrical machines makes them more available for aviation. Assuming a big leap forward of electric technology in the near future, many research institutes around the World examine a revolutionary propulsion system which employs electrical machines. This idea can be a perfect response to a drastically growing air traffic and its demands about emission and fuel consumption reduction. There are already manufactured full electric, ultralight airplanes, which show that the technology is promising and future-proof. What is more it seems to be a key enabler for the development of the other technology that will influence the future of aircraft design and will allow introducing completely new airplane architectures. That is why Institute of Aviation in collaboration with The Ohio State University conducts investigation and analysis on feasibility of using such systems for aircraft propulsion. For this task a completely new tool based on Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS) environment is being developed. It will enable to analyse the electric devices conjugated with turbine engine as a whole propulsion system in the matter of its performance characteristics. The purpose of this paper is to present some of the most promising ideas and already accomplished analysis of different kinds of architectures. The analysis and optimization of the system, as well as cost effectiveness will be presented.

The study of properties of switched and hybrid systems gives rise to a number of interesting and challenging mathematical problems. This paper aims to briefly survey recent results on stability and controllability of switched linear systems. First, the stability analysis for switched systems is reviewed. We focus on the stability analysis for switched linear systems under arbitrary switching, and we highlight necessary and sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability. After that, we review the controllability results.

The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and the Genetic Algorithms (GA) have been used successfully in solving problems of optimization with continuous and combinatorial search spaces. In this paper the results of the application of PSO and GAs for the optimization of mathematical functions are presented. These two methodologies have been implemented with the goal of making a comparison of their performance in solving complex optimization problems. This paper describes a comparison between a GA and PSO for the optimization of complex mathematical functions.

Necessary and sufficient conditions for the pointwise completeness and pointwise degeneracy of the standard and positive hybrid linear systems described by the general model are established. It is shown that the standard general model is always pointwise complete and it is not pointwise degenerated and the positive general model is pointwise complete if and only if its matrix A2 is diagonal.

The purpose of this research was to prove that a hybrid system including activated sludge and biofilm attached to carrying media (natural zeolite) can improve the efficiency of municipal wastewater treatment. The study was performed using a pilot-scale plant installed on Almaty Wastewater Treatment Plant (Kazakhstan) and treated sewage after preliminary mechanical treatment. The investigations were conducted in 2 stages: with installation without packing media (activated sludge only) and packed with zeolite from Chankanaysky field (activated sludge and biofilm). The results from the study showed a significant improvement of treatment efficiency for all examined parameters (BOD5, COD, suspended solids, nitrogen compounds and phosphates). Microbiological examination of biomass from the bioreactor indicated high diversity and activity of identified species, proving good conditions for both activated sludge and biofilm.

The realization problem for 2D positive singular linear hybrid systems is formulated, as well as a method based on the state variable diagram for finding a positive realization of a given improper transfer function is proposed. Sufficient conditions for the existence of a positive realization of a given improper transfer function are established. In recent years, with the rapid development of digital components, digital electronic computers, especially microprocessors, digital controllers have replaced analog controllers on many occasions. The application of digital controller makes the performance analysis of impulsive system more and more important. This paper considers global exponential stability (GES) of impulsive delayed nonlinear hybrid differential systems (IDNHDS).Through the application of the Lyapunov method and the Razumikhin technique, a series of uncomplicated and useful guiding principles have been obtained. The results of a numerical simulation are presented to demonstrate that the method is correct and effective.

Renewable energy is associated with rapid technology development. Renewable resources are an organic alternative to fossil fuels and so there is a constant tendency to maximize the use of the former and minimize the consumption of the latter. Fossil fuel reserves have been reduced and are constantly running out. The European Union has enough of energy resources to meet only half of its needs. This situation creates economic dependence on energy exporting countries. Another equally important issue is the increasing environmental pollution by burning fossil fuels and induced global climate change. The projected global increase in energy consumption means that there will be proportional increase in emissions and hazardous waste.

In order to approximate discrete-event systems in which there exist considerable states and events, David and Alla define a continuous Petri net (CPN). So far, CPNs have been a useful tool not only for approximating discrete-event systems but also for modelling continuous processes. Due to different ways of calculating instantaneous firing speeds of transitions, various continuous Petri net models, such as the CCPN (constant speed CPN), VCPN (variable speed CPN) and the ACPN (asymptotic CPN), have been proposed, where the continuous flow is specified uniquely by maximal firing speeds. However, in applications such as chemical processes there exist situations where the continuous flow must be above some minimal speed or in the range of minimal and maximal speeds. In this paper, from the point of view of approximating a time Petri net, the CPN is augmented with maximal and minimal firing speeds, and a novel continuous model, i.e., the Interval speed CPN (ICPN) is defined. The enabling and firing semantics of transitions of the ICPN are discussed, and the facilitating of continuous transitions is classified into three levels: 0-level, 1-level and 2-level. Some policies to resolve the conflicts and algorithms to undertake the behavioural analysis for the ICPN are developed. In addition, a chemical process example is presented.

Opis:
Energy converters using the phenomenon of thermionic emission to generate electricity and their applications related to renewable energy sources (RES) have been presented. Taking into account new technical solutions, hybrid systems combining thermionic energy converters (TEC) with other energy generators, e.g. with PV cells, the Stirling engine, improving the efficiency of the entire electric energy generating system, have been described. Leading technologies related to thermionic energy conversion and TEC hybrid systems powered by solar radiation have been shown in the tables. The dynamic development of TEC technology in recent years, in our opinion, will contribute to the wider interest of research communities to use the thermionic emission phenomenon to generate electricity.

The thermal gasification has been used for nearly 200 years. At the beginning coal or peat were used as a feedstock to produce gas for cooking and lighting. Nowadays, the coal gasification is still actual, anyway, in times without fossils the biomass and waste gasification becomes more important. In this paper, the past, present and future of the biomass and waste gasification (BWG) is discussed. The current status of BWG in Austria, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and USA is detailed described and the future potential of the technology is outlined.
