We use inexact Newton iterates to approximate a solution of a nonlinear equation in a Banach space. Solving a nonlinear equation using Newton iterates at each stage is very expensive in general. That is why we consider inexact Newton methods, where the Newton equations are solved only approximately, and in some unspecified manner. In earlier works [2], [3], natural assumptions under which the forcing sequences are uniformly less than one were given based on the second Fréchet derivative of the operator involved. This approach showed that the upper error bounds on the distances involved are smaller compared with the corresponding ones using hypotheses on the first Fréchet derivative. However, the conditions on the forcing sequences were not given in affine invariant form. The advantages of using conditions given in affine invariant form were explained in [3], [10]. Here we reproduce all the results obtained in [3] but using affine invariant conditions.

Opis:
In this study we are concerned with the problem of approximating a solution of a nonlinear equation in Banach space using Newton-like methods. Due to rounding errors the sequence of iterates generated on a computer differs from the sequence produced in theory. Using Lipschitz-type hypotheses on the mth Fréchet derivative (m ≥ 2 an integer) instead of the first one, we provide sufficient convergence conditions for the inexact Newton-like method that is actually generated on the computer. Moreover, we show that the ratio of convergence improves under our conditions. Furthermore, we provide a wider choice of initial guesses than before. Finally, a numerical example is provided to show that our results compare favorably with earlier ones.

Opis:
Using the Fisher information matrix (FIM) as a Riemannian metric, the family of Frechet distributions determines a two dimensional Riemannian manifold. In this paper we illustrates the information geometry of the Frechet space, and derive the α-geometry as; α-connections, α-curvature tensor, α-Ricci curvature with its eigenvalues and eigenvectors, α-sectional curvature, α-mean curvature, and α-scalar curvature, where we show that Frechet space has a constant α-scalar curvature. The special case where α = 0 corresponds to the geometry induced by the Levi-Civita connection. In addition, we consider three special cases of Frechet distributions as submanifolds with dimension one, and discuss their geometrical structures, then we prove that one of these submanifolds is an isometric isomorph of the exponential manifold, which is important in stochastic process since exponential distributions represent intervals between events for Poisson processes. After that, we introduce log-Frechet distributions, and show that this family of distributions determines a Riemannian 2-manifold which is isometric with the origin manifold. Finally, an explicit expressions for some distances in Frechet space are obtained as, Kullback-Leibler distance, and J-divergence.

Opis:
The characterisation of probability distribution plays an important role in statistical studies. There are various methods of characterisation available in the literature. The characterisation using truncated moments limits the observations; hence, researchers may save time and cost. In this paper, the characterisation of three general forms of continuous distributions based on doubly truncated moments has been studied. The results are given simply and explicitly. Further, the results have been applied to some well-known continuous distributions.

Let E be a Fréchet Schwartz space with a continuous norm and with a finite-dimensional decomposition, and let F be any infinite-dimensional subspace of E. It is proved that E can be written as G ⨁ H where G and H do not contain any subspace isomorphic to F. In particular, E is not primary. If the subspace F is not normable then the statement holds for other quasinormable Fréchet spaces, e.g., if E is a quasinormable and locally normable Köthe sequence space, or if E is a space of holomorphic functions of bounded type $ℋ_b(U)$, where U is a Banach space or a bounded absolutely convex open set in a Banach space.

We will show that for each sequence of quasinormable Fréchet spaces $(E_n)_ℕ$ there is a Köthe space λ such that $Ext^1(λ(A), λ(A) = Ext^1 (λ(A), E_n)=0$ and there are exact sequences of the form $... → λ(A) → λ(A) → λ(A) → λ(A) → {E_n} → 0$. If, for a fixed ℕ, $E_n$ is nuclear or a Köthe sequence space, the resolution above may be reduced to a short exact sequence of the form $0 → λ(A) → λ(A) → {E_n} → 0$. The result has some applications in the theory of the functor $Ext^1$ in various categories of Fréchet spaces by providing a substitute for non-existing projective resolutions.
