Opis:
Workplace innovation enables the development and improvement of products, processes and services leading simultaneously to improvement in organisational performance. This study has the purpose of examining the factor structure of workplace innovation. Survey data, extracted from the 2014 APS employee census, comprising 3,125 engineering professionals in the Commonwealth of Australia’s departments were analysed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). EFA returned a two-factor structure explaining 69.1% of the variance of the construct. CFA revealed that a two-factor structure was indicated as a validated model (GFI = 0.98, AGFI = 0.95, RMSEA = 0.08, RMR = 0.02, IFI = 0.98, NFI = 0.98, CFI = 0.98, and TLI = 0.96). Both factors showed good reliability of the scale (Individual creativity: α = 0.83, CR = 0.86, and AVE = 0.62; Team Innovation: α = 0.82, CR = 0.88, and AVE = 0.61). These results confirm that the two factors extracted for characterising workplace innovation included individual creativity and team innovation.

Opis:
Factor analysis is a standard statistical technique for reducing data dimensionality, which is widely used in sociology, psychology, and demography. Also, financial and insurance institutions commonly use such a technique for marketing research. In recent years, factor analysis has been used, at the beginning rather diffidently, to analyse selected problems of business management, e.g. to troubleshoot consumer and company communication. There are some literature reports about the successful use of factor analysis in managing a company area. Nevertheless, the literature seems to lack examples with successful use of the method with a clear explanation of its rather difficult application in the field of competitiveness or potential company boost. The modest popularity of such a powerful technique in this particular field seems to be attributed mainly to the complexity of the method and its requirements concerning the data quantity. Besides, the factor analysis technique has great potential and can be used as an efficient tool to reduce the complexity of observed phenomenon or verify the accuracy of theoretical models. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to present a vast potential of factor analysis (both exploratory and confirmatory) applied to solve various problems in company management, especially related to competitiveness and market success. Two case studies covering the subject of business management are presented to illustrate the benefits of factor analysis application. The exploratory factor analysis is exemplified by the search of factors related to the commercial success of the company, while the confirmatory technique is illustrated by a case study of the intellectual capital of the company and its factors related to competitiveness. The paper also presents the essence of the factor analysis, types of analysis, subsequent procedures, purposes, and its specific features. Finally, the applicability of the factor analysis to solve management issues and possible gain in management are discussed.

Sentiment Indicators
Opis:
The paper presents arguments that advocate for application of the multi-group confirmatory factor analysis as a tool for constructing sentiment indicators in business surveys. Reliable measurement and comparisons of the sentiment mean between periods require measurement invariance on its three basic levels-configural, metric and scalar invariance. It is hypothesized that only sets of questions that are internally coherent can serve as a group of proxies for business sentiment indicator. An attempt to construct two different sentiment indicators for manufacturing industry is performed. The results show that only for the set of coherent proxies it is possible to estimate model with measurement invariance.

Opis:
The study aims to develop and validate a Teacher Grit Scale and determine its predictive validity for performance. This quantitative research utilized exploratory, confirmatory, and regression analyses based on data from 1425 teachers of the Department of Education, Philippines. Exploratory factor analysis established the factorial validity of a 2-factor structure as compared to 3-factor and 4-factor models. Confirmatory factor analyses from Region IX and Region X of the Department of Education reveal strong cross-validation between the 2-factor models and the data using goodness-of-fit indices. These outcomes show that the factors describing grit are: (1) Perseverance in Teaching and (2) Passion and Purpose in Teaching. Grit relates significantly to teacher performance. However, only the first dimension of grit - perseverance in teaching, established predictive validity with performance.

Opis:
The purpose of this study is to determine the role of metamorphism and thereby identify the preserved magmatic signature in metavolcanics from Wedel Jarlsberg Land in southwestern Svalbard. Samples have been collected from late Precambrian metavolcanics occurring within metasedimentary rocks of the Sofiebogen Group, as well as dikes cutting older metasedimentary rocks of the Deilegga Group. The volcanic rocks were metamorphosed under greenschist facies conditions during the Caledonian Orogeny. To investigate the role of metamorphism, we present petrography, major and trace element geochemistry, and use factor analysis as a tool to identify correlations that correspond to primary magmatic signals. The metavolcanics are classified as subalkaline basalt to basaltic andesite and they contain relicts of primary clinopyroxene and plagioclase. The metamorphic minerals are actinolite, secondary plagioclase, chlorite and minerals belonging to the epidote group. Major element variations are highly scattered with no obvious trends observed. The HFSE and REE show strong trends attributed to fractional crystallization. The LILE, Th and La show elevated contents in some samples. Factor analysis shows that the HFSE and REE are well correlated. The LILE form a separate well correlated group, while the major elements are not correlated, except for Na2O, Fe2O3 and CaO. The lack of correlation for major elements, as well as the lack of observed fractional crystallization trends between these elements suggests that they were modified by metamorphism. The strong correlation of HFSE and REE reflects the original geochemical signal generated by magmatic processes. The correlation of the LILE is consistent with their elevated composition implying the influence of crustal contamination processes, and though some variability is likely superimposed due to metamorphism, the primary magmatic record is not completely destroyed. We conclude that the HFSE and REE are not influenced by metamorphic processes and therefore provide robust records of magmatic processes.

Opis:
Geometry has always contributed to a great extent and played a significant role in the development of many of the principles of the factor models. While factor-analytic principles and procedures have been generally developed by the heavy emphasis on matrix algebra, there is still a grave importance and need towards a geometrical approach and its application in the factor analysis. In this article the author provides, on selected issues, a description in reference to factor models from a geometric viewpoint with a discussion running through its advantages and disadvantages. Finally, at the end of the paper, conclusions in reference to good conditions of factors rotation are given. This article explains to what extent a geometrical approach brings specific value and offers an extra insight into factor analysis. As proved, geometry still provides an alternative framework which may be helpful for better understanding and data structure diagnosis.

Competencies are a crucial factor of professional position and career development. The aim of this paper is the assessment of the competencies of people in late productive age using exploratory factor analysis. The second point is the critical review of the theory and practice on exploratory factor analysis. The empirical analysis is based on the Study of Human Capital data. The survey results confirm the necessity of the factor analysis in research in the area of human capital in the context of ageing. The constructed synthetic indicators allowed for a synthetic assessment of the competencies of Poles aged 50-59/64. The results of the conducted analysis confirm the large significance of all the 24 analysed competencies. The competencies of Poles aged 50-59/64 were decomposed into three groups: (1) soft competencies and physical fitness (2) computer skills and (3) availability and technical competencies.

labour migration, EU, factor analysis
Opis:
At the beginning of the 21st century the European Union faces the greatest challenge in its history. Several problems were raised due to the joining of new member countries to the EU, one of which – the free movement of people – was the most important. The 15 EU member-states, with fears of the cheap labour of the ten joining countries, in 2003 introduced days of grace for seven years to restrict the free movement of labour. However the majority of basic rights came into being before the joining to EU, the free movement of people and rather the free movement of employees became a question of serious debates. Facts did not prove these fears even in the case of France where the fi gure of a Polish mechanic became a topic of voting campaign in 2005. The expected wave of migrant workers never arrived consequently; countries having opened their labour marked after 1 May 2004 were out of danger. At the same time the areas that lost their inhabitants started to decline in terms of both economy and society. This is one of the main reasons for revitalization, which could support the improvement of socio-economic factors of rural areas, decreasing the unfavourable effects of migration.  The newer reconsideration of the transition period is coming at an early date; we made a quantitative research with face to face method in Hungary in August 2008. In the questionnaire we analyzed the migration potential of the Hungarian people with 1200 members national representative sampling.

Opis:
The purpose of the work was to determine the relationship between the of the water quality parameters in an artificial reservoir used as cooling ponds. Factor analysis were applied to analyze eighteen physico- -chemical parameters such as air and water temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration, visibility of the Secchi disk, concentrations of total nitrogen, ammonium, nitrate, nitrite, total phosphorus, phosphate, concentrations of calcium, magnesium, chlorides, sulfates and total dissolved salts, pH, chemical oxygen demand and electric conductivity from 2002-2019 to investigated cooling water discharge. Exploratory factor analysis allowed identified four factors were obtained from 54.1% (in discharge zone) to 56.7% (in dam zone). In discharge and pelagic zones confirmatory factor analysis showed that four latent variables: salinity, temperature, nitrogen and phosphorus provide good fit, but in the dam zone the better fit was obtained for the latent variables salinity, temperature, nutrient and eutrophic. Correlations between latent variables temperature, nitrogen, phosphorus or nutrient and eutrophic show a significant effect of temperature on the transformation of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds.
