This paper provides an analysis of selected topics in the field of eco-ethics. The school should be more involved in the protection of the natural environment, mainly by shaping truly responsible attitudes. Ecological education must become an integral part of a person’s upbringing. The aim of education should be to create and develop correct pro-ecological attitudes, which are opposed to the uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources. Environmental sustainability is only possible if people are persuaded to give up the consumer lifestyle (the so-called ecological asceticism).

In the pursuit of success, stuck in the shadow of reality, we often forget that every day we use goods of the environment which surrounds us. We do not realize that behavior of particular people, their families and social groups influences the elements of natural history. This article focuses on the adjustment of our lifestyle to the idea of balanced development. That is why environmental education, which supports understanding the correlation between man, his products and the environment, should be offered to all people, in particular the youngest, who will be able to direct the patterns of pro-environmental behavior to elderly people.

The aim of this research was to find out if the environmental education program prepared for preschool pupil s is effective in helping the 5 - 6-year-old age group gain environmental consciousness. For these purposes, a single group, pretestfinal test pattern was used. In the research, “Children’s Environmental Attitudes Scale” was used in the experiment group, before and after application and the data obtained were compared. An educational program of 8 weeks including drama, games and activities, Turkish, music and art activities subjects about air, water, soil, extinction of animal and plant species, climate change and waste problems was applied to the children.

Recent research shows that ‘environmental denial’ (the denial of anthropogenic impact on the natural world) plays an important role in environmental education. The difficulty in changing our detrimental habits stems from the fact that identities in our societies are bound up with consumerist practices. Because we cannot simply give up practices that shape our identity, environmental education has to fi nd ways of substituting unhealthy habits with environmentally acceptable ones. One method of achieving this is through experiential education based on experiences with the natural world and their importance for identity formation. The paper presents a case study involving experiential education in environmental ethics, implemented at the university level. Findings show that the implementation of experiential education technique (fi eld trip) yielded positive results in connection with students’ overcoming of environmental denial and consequential change of their environmental outlook.

The aim of the article is to explain problems related to environmental education of children in the Second Republic of Poland, based on selected examples of the work of Maria Arct-Golczewska, Zofia Bohuszewiczówna and Wanda Haberkantówna. The work of these authors, i.e. stories for children and textbooks for environmental education to be used at general schools and secondary schools, was recommended by the Minister of Denominations and Public Enlightenment. These stories and textbooks were intended as teaching aids in the environmental education process, a process that was an implication of all educational activities. The authors named above also translated, into Polish, and popularized the work of foreign authors, especially the following: A. E. Brehm, A. B. Buckley, H. Coupin, H. Fabre, E. Hassenpflug, P. Ledoux, G. G. Lewis and E. Thompson. It must be emphasised that the work of these foreign authors were also used as teaching aids during the Second Republic of Poland.

Opis:
Environmental protection is a fundamental process that requires urgent changes in people's behavior. On this basis, environmental education is currently one of the actual areas of education and the funding of these activities is an extremely important area in this process. One of the possibilities is the Green Education Fund, which supports the development of environmental education, upbringing and awareness in the Slovak Republic. The paper is focused on the evaluation of the Green Education Fund as the funding opportunity for environmental education in Slovakia. Based on the available data, which include the first two calls of the Green Education Fund, we evaluated data on applicants for support from this fund, the amount of financial contribution, location of selected projects, supported and rejected projects and evaluated the course of the first two calls of this fund.
Ochrona środowiska to podstawowy proces, który wymaga pilnych zmian w zachowaniu ludzi. Na tej podstawie edukacja ekologiczna jest obecnie jednym z rzeczywistych obszarów edukacji, a finansowanie tych działań jest niezwykle ważnym obszarem w tym procesie. Jedną z możliwości jest Green Education Fund, który wspiera rozwój edukacji ekologicznej, wychowania i świadomości w Republice Słowackiej. Artykuł koncentruje się na ocenie Green Education Fund jako możliwości finansowania edukacji ekologicznej na Słowacji. Na podstawie dostępnych danych, które obejmują dwa pierwsze nabory Green Education Fund, dokonaliśmy oceny danych wnioskodawców ubiegających się o wsparcie z tego funduszu, wysokości wkładu finansowego, lokalizacji wybranych projektów, projektów wspieranych i odrzuconych oraz ocenialiśmy przebieg pierwszych dwóch naborów do tego funduszu.

The role of environmental teaching specialists in realizing ecological and environmental education is significant and varied. Above all, it comes down to the help offered to teachers in running and realizing the subjects related to ecological and environmental education. It concerns the teachers who teach environmental education, biology, ecology and environment conservation. The role of teaching specialists is writing syllabuses to be realized in the classrooms (at schools) or during field trips in direct contact with nature. Running post-graduate university courses in the subject they include the issues of ecology and environmental protection. They invite teachers of nature, biology, ecology and environment protection to Seminars, Symposiums, Conferences that deal with the subject of ecology and environment teaching.

Flash flood disasters often hit many areas in Indonesia and can generate various losses. These conditions are exacerbated by people’s low knowledge and interest in their environment. Therefore, if people’s environmental education increases, especially their flood disaster mitigation knowledge, they can be prepared and better protect themselves from such disasters. People’s environmental education must start from determining the reason of the flood disaster in their environment to discovering how to avoid the disaster. This research design is a one-group post-test design. The collected data in this research is a written test result about knowledge in flash flood disaster mitigation materials as an implementation in environmental education in the community. The research data results were analyzed by means of simple regression, logistics regression, and correlation. Based on this research, environmental education with disaster mitigation materials has a high understanding level. In the disaster step, the highest understanding is before it happens. The correlation between educational strata and gender on environmental education and disaster mitigation materials is low. Finally, the role of women in disaster mitigation needs to improve because they have a higher understanding than males of disaster mitigation materials.

This paper proposes a contextualization of the didactic comic book Aguinha!! De Cabo Verde às Canárias... e vice-versa. The comic book in question emerged as part of the institutional project financed by European funds, but at the plot level it hides any explicit affinities with Europe. For this reason, we chose to analyze the contents of the book in the transinsular order and to draw both on the concept of environmental education and on border thinking. It is also proposed to frame this comic book as a complementary, non-autonomous didactic material.

The article discusses environmental education and terminology in pre-school and early school education, based on a short historical outline of environmental education for this age group of children in Poland. It refers to the signing of the Biological Education Convention at the Earth Summit, which determined the stimulation of ecological awareness, protection of natural resources, and natural space around man. The article is an analysis of the goals of environmental education. Natural and ecological education has a biological, emotional, motoric, creative, and spiritual aspect. It has a significant meaning in the development of a small child in preschool and early school age in cognitive, physical, health, social and emotional development.
W artykule omówiono edukację ekologiczną oraz terminologię w edukacji przedszkolnej i wczesnoszkolnej na podstawie krótkiego rysu historycznego edukacji ekologicznej tej grupy wiekowej dzieci w Polsce. Nawiązuje się do podpisania na Szczycie Ziemi Konwencji o Wychowaniu Biologicznym, która określiła pobudzanie świadomości ekologicznej, ochronę zasobów naturalnych i przestrzeni przyrodniczej wokół człowieka. Artykuł stanowi analizę celów edukacji ekologicznej. Edukacja przyrodniczo-ekologiczna ma aspekt biologiczny, emocjonalny, motoryczny, twórczy i duchowy. Ma istotne znaczenie w rozwoju małego dziecka w wieku przedszkolnym i wczesnoszkolnym w rozwoju poznawczym, fizycznym, zdrowotnym, społecznym i emocjonalnym.

W artykule przedstawiono zasady funkcjonowania sieci WWW, Internetu, systemów geoinformacyjnych oraz zwrócono uwagę na metadane i prawa autorskie stron WWW jako na te elementy, które w dotychczasowej literaturze były traktowane marginalnie. Omówiono znaczenie kształcenia u uczniów umiejętności pracy w oparciu o dane pozyskiwane z Internetu, w tym selekcje danych z uwagi na metadane, dobór treści z uwzględnieniem praw autorskich, weryfikacje w oparciu o różne źródła informacji oraz syntetyczną prezentację. Podkreślono, że ze względu na konieczność świadomego uczestnictwa społeczności lokalnych w działaniach proekologicznych winno się zwrócić szczególną uwagę w programach edukacji ekologicznej na problematykę racjonalnego gospodarowania zasobami wodnymi oraz na ochronę krajobrazu kulturowego harmonijnie dopasowanego do środowiska przyrodniczego.
The article presents the principles of functioning of www, internet and geographical information systems. The issue of metadata and intellectual property rights of www pages as elements marginally addressed in literature was mentioned. The importance of developing students' skills in using data from internet, selection of content taking into consideration intellectual property rights, verification based on different information sources and a syntheticpresentation were discussed. It was underlined, that due to the needs of public participation in environmental activities, attention should be paid to the issue of rational use of water resources and protection of cultural landscape adjusted to the natural environment.

On the basis of research and the syllabi for mathematics and environmental education, which promote integrated teaching, a model of integrated teaching of mathematics and environmental education has been designed. 331 basic school second grade pupils participated in the experiment (163 pupils in the experimental group and 168 in the control group). The differences in the results were statistically significant after the second test, as compared to the control group, the experimental group performed better at all levels of TIMSS taxonomy. With this the importance of interdisciplinary integration or of holistic teaching, indispensable in the first years of schooling, was confirmed.

The study presents the “EREJ” project tested with students at the University of Rzeszów. The project is important for the development of the ability to search for materials for work. It improves the ability to prepare a PPT presentation and write an essay, skills in oral and written communication, the ability to work individually and in a group, the ability to discuss, transmit feedback, and present work publically. The project is also important for increasing the knowledge in the field of environmental issues.

Researchers alert – children spend less and less time being in nature, which has a detrimental effect on their physical and mental health. As the response to these appeals, such foundations as ‘Dzieci w Naturę’ or ‘Pracownia Edukacji Żywej,’ as well as private initiatives like ‘Wielki Zachwyt’ or ‘Szkoła Bosych Stóp’ appeared. They organize workshops, family walks and trips to the forest giving children an opportunity to play in nature. Natural playgrounds can be an addition to those activities, which in a way ‘bring’ nature into the cities, residential areas, schools, and kindergartens. In this article, the author presents various examples of good practices that allow children to play in nature.

In this report we point out the requirement of local communities for environmental education of society that results from accession of Poland to the project titled „Decade for Sustainable Development 2005-2014”. The paper includes results of the surveys carried out among students, teachers and officers of communes that reveal the role of environmental education in schools, communes and universities. The results demonstrate that environmental education should become connected with actions in aid of both natural and social local environments.
W pracy wskazano na zapotrzebowanie środowiska lokalnego na edukację środowiskową społeczeństwa, wynikające z przystąpienia Polski do udziału w projekcie Dekada Edukacji dla Zrównoważonego Rozwoju 2005-2014. Praca zawiera wyniki badań ankietowych studentów, nauczycieli i pracowników gmin wskazujące miejsce i rolę edukacji środowiskowej w szkole, gminie oraz na studiach przyrodniczych i pedagogicznych. Wyniki świadczą o konieczności zbliżenia trendów kształcenia przyrodniczego do praktycznych działań na rzecz lokalnego środowiska przyrodniczego i społecznego.

Among the various global problems, environmental protection issues have come to the fore. Problems related to this area frequently call for being considered within the process of education. Recurrent conferences, bringing together experts from various fields of science, politicians, and even activists, clearly illustrate the fact that the issue of environmental protection is invariably topical, and should thus be permanently present in the mind of the average person. The environment is an area of manifold human activities, and it requires taking appropriate protective measures. Moreover, its specific elements are linked in close relationships and interdependencies. Therefore, the question whether raising awareness, which is so strongly reliant on education, shapes appropriate attitudes, allowing individuals to act in the social and natural environment, seems to be of much relevance, today. A group of various values compels us to show and promote the importance of ecological values, including the value of responsibility. Those values provide the basis and measure of the change in human attitude towards the social and natural environment, which unfortunately, has taken a one-dimensional form, namely, that of exploiting nature’s resources. The article presents the justification for taking into account proposals of environmental ethics in the educational process. It seems that they can provide the basis for shaping responsible human behaviour, expressed, among others, in mature awareness of the need to protect the environment.
Wśród rozmaitych problemów globalnych szereg z nich dotyczy ochrony środowiska. Tak zorientowana problematyka nierzadko domaga się uwzględniania jej w procesie wychowania wspartego nauczaniem. Cyklicznie organizowane konferencje, zrzeszające ekspertów z różnych dziedzin nauki, polityków a nawet aktywistów, wskazują, że problematyka ochrony środowiska jest ciągle żywa, a tym samym powinna na stałe zaistnieć w świadomości przeciętnego człowieka. Środowisko jest obszarem rozmaitej aktywności ludzkiej i wymaga odpowiednich działań ochronnych. W nim występują też ścisłe zależności pomiędzy konkretnymi jego elementami. Dlatego wciąż aktualne staje się pytanie: czy wychowanie, które tak mocno wspierane jest przez edukację kształtuje w człowieku odpowiednie postawy, w oparciu o które można postępować w środowisku społeczno-przyrodniczym? Zbiór rozmaitych wartości wymusza ukazanie i promowanie znaczenia wartości ekologicznych, wśród których znajduje się m.in. wartość odpowiedzialności. Są one podstawą i miarą zmiany stosunku człowieka wobec środowiska społeczno-przyrodniczego, który niestety przyjmuje jednowymiarową postać. Jest nią eksploatacja jego zasobów. W artykule przedstawiona zostanie zasadność uwzględniania w procesie edukacyjnym propozycji jakie głosi etyka środowiskowa. Wydaje się, że mogą one stanowić podstawę do kształtowania odpowiedzialnych zachowań ludzkich wyrażających się m.in. w dojrzałej świadomości potrzeby ochrony środowiska.

Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na wartościowy aspekt wychowawczy szkolnego kształcenia środowiskowego oraz na wspomagający charakter instytucji lokalnych w procesie edukacji. Zwrócono uwagę na otoczenie przestrzenne uczących się i nauczycieli, które może sugerować możliwości i sposoby kształcenia oraz może także wspomagać szkołę w osiągnięciu zamierzonych celów pedagogicznych. Z gąszczu oddziałujących na nas dzisiaj wpływów środowiska bezpośredniego i pośredniego wielkie znaczenie mają te elementy, które umożliwią współczesnemu człowiekowi czynne i kreatywne z nim relacje. Wielkie znaczenie ma ciągłe pogłębianie przekonania o roli skutecznego dialogu między szkołą i środowiskiem w celu wspierania rozwoju kolejnego pokolenia.
The article is focused on a valuable aspect of environmental education at school and a supportive character of local organizations in the education process. Attention is paid to the special environment of teachers and students which may suggest the opportunities and ways of training as well as support the school in accomplishing its pedagogic goals. In the thick of impacts imposed on us by our direct and indirect environment, an impotent role is played by elements which Enable an active and creative contact of contemporary humans with the environment. A continuous deepening of the conviction on the role of an effective dialogue between the school and the environment to facilitate the development of the next generation is of high importance.

The balanced development is at present the challenge for creating the awareness not only of the particular society, but also in the widest sense for the whole generation of the people. Undertaking such issues, the role of education during all stages of teaching, should be taken into consideration, especially, in the range of propagating the idea of responsibility for the natural environment with eco-development. It is a specially important element of teaching according to the principle of pro-environmental education to undertake all actions in the educational centers, which aim is to stimulate the environmental awareness of young people as well as to prepare the pedagogical staff to the realization of the wide range of methods and strategies that allow to get the best results during the process of educating young generation. The appropriate undertakings should be realized in order to support the education in the process of introducing the right value system and positive attitudes towards realization of the sixth Environmental politics of the EU Programme. With the connection to the carried on initial research associated with the knowledge about the balanced development among high school students, analysing the results of the questionnaires, the answer to the question whether students possess any kind of knowledge on balanced development was to be learned.
