stylistic categories
matrical concepts
Opis:
Stylistic-linguistic categories are classes of concepts typical of language fimctional styles with blurred limits. They are related to linguistic items present in the stylae. The definition of these categories referes to cognitivistic concepts. Categories gel on the level of text and after developing of categorization process and their consolidating in stylistic structures, become determinants of functional styles’ existence together with other sty- le-formative factors as fiinctions and subcodes. Although they are usually fixed in the language materiał, sometimes they are determined without reference to factual documenta- tion, as thought categories connected with materiał indirectly.Stylistic-linguistic categories belong to the style as a form of language existence cre- ated by structure of modal-pragmatic character organized by many functions actions rule. There are two groups among distinguished The first one is created by main categories of functional styles such as commonness (common style), artisticness (artistic style), scientificness (scientific style), and others. The second group includes subcatego- ries of main classes. The latters have rich documentation of language indices, while sub- categories do not always have such a documentation. There are also matrical concepts wich have a status of category: language, style, func- tion, structure, text. They should be treated as axioms of stylistics. Although they belong to categories characteristic to stylistics, I do not describe them as stylistic-linguistic (stylistic) categories to distinguish them from those formerly mentioned. In the text level, there are phenomenons, which are - similarly to categories - typical and repetitive, although signs of these processes are heterogenic. These phenomenons are subject to regularity of text forming as stylistic dependent functions activity rule. In text structures of artistic style it referes to e.g. phenomenons forming in relation to the subject, literary figurę, means of narration, and similar literary constructs.Previous observations of style investigators prove the existence of many stylistic categories in every style. The constant set of these categories has not been established, but it is known that some of them are repeated in various studies. The last observations prove that spectrum of the categories change with time passage.

The very state of contemporary linguistics presupposes not only the appearance of new aspects and objects of research, but also a return to certain previously described linguistic categories. Preposition is undoubtedly one of these categories. The necessity to re-examine preposition and its functional equivalents in accordance with new theoretical and practical methodologies and requirements gave rise to the international research project Slavonic Prepositions in Synchrony and Diachrony: Morphology and Syntax. Linguists from Russia Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Serbia and Poland currently participate in the project. This article presents the assumptions and goals of the said project as well as certain problems concerned with the very description of Slavonic prepositions, particularly from contrastive perspective.

This paper lists and examines the explicit references to Aristotle’s Topics in the Greek Neoplatonic commentaries on the Categories. The references to the Topics by Porphyry, Dexippus, Ammonius, Simplicius, Olympiodorus, Philoponus and David (Elias) are listed according the usual prolegomena to Aristotle’s works. In particular, the paper reconstructs David (Elias)’s original thesis about the proponents of the title Pre-Topics for the Categories and compares Ammonius’, Simplicius’ and Olympiodorus’ doxographies about the postpraedicamenta. Moreover, the study identifies two general trends. The first one is that all the commentators after Proclus share the same general view about: the authenticity of the Topics, Aristotle’s writing style in them, the part of philosophy to which they belong, their purpose, their usefulness and their place in the reading order. The second one is that whereas Porphyry, Dexippus and Simplicius use the Topics as an aid to understanding the Categories, Ammonius, Olympiodorus and David (Elias) do not.

The paper presents arguments for treating language as a tool for cognition and communications. It articulates an opposite view to the one which considers language as an independent module shaping cognition and thinking. According to the conception of the socially – based cognition the mind is a controller of the adaptive behavior, and communication is a strategic action to which language is subjected. The model of the linguistic categories arranges words according to the level of their abstraction; and a number of research results presented in the paper indicate that there is a relationship between the level of abstraction of the words used and the inference related to events, emotions and memory. Recognizing language as a tool for cognition and communication leads to the acceptance of the necessity to widen the language awareness. This kind of thinking is supported by the presented results of research on the relationship between linguistic categories and the stereotypes, communication of the interpersonal distance and the process of asking questions and giving answers.

Albanian adjective derivatives derived from verbsThe aim of this article is the analysis of the Albanian adjective derivatives which are derived from verbs. The main assumption made by the author is the existence of structural isomorphism (parallelism in language elements system in which structuring of one level parallels or is made to parallel that of another) between the structure of the derivative and the structure of the sentence. The proposed model of the analysis is directed from content to form. All examined adjective derivatives derived from verbs are being analyzed with their noun context which displays their semantic structure. Nominal phrases containing adjective derivatives are interpreted as the representation of predicate–argument structures. The kind of relation between defined noun and derivational base of the adjective is a criterion of the division of Albanian adjective derivatives derived from verbs. These main types of relations are:relation in which the base of an adjective represents basic predicate;relation in which the base of an adjective represents additional predicate.Classes which are the results of the main division are the subject to detailed description.

From the introduction: "The present article does not pretend to be a complete survey of all or even of the most important algorithms in combinatorics and graph theory. The algorithms presented illustrate only general considerations involving the computational complexity of problems of combinatorics. It is assumed that the reader is acquainted with the fundamental algorithms of combinatorics and graph theory. The first part of the paper is an outline of basic computation models used in the analysis of combinatorial algorithms. In subsequent parts, problems for which optimal or `good' algorithms exist are discussed. Here problems connected with the class P are presented, i.e. the class of problems that can be solved by algorithms with polynomial complexity. A formal definition is given of the class P and the class NP, to which, with minor exceptions, all difficult problems-the knapsack problem, the scheduling problem, the problem of Hamiltonian circuits in graphs and networks, etc.-belong. The question whether P=NP is a fundamental problem in the analysis of the computational complexity of combinatorial algorithms. Contents: (1) Introduction; (2) Computational complexity of algorithms; (3) Computation models; (4) Ways of representing graphs, and the efficiency of algorithms; (5) Lower bounds of computational complexity; (6) Examples of optimal and `good' algorithms; (7) Problems with polynomial complexity; (8) Problems for which the existence of algorithms with polynomial complexity is not possible; (9) NP-complete problems; (10) Conclusion; Bibliography.

W artykule przedstawiono problem wyznaczania udziałów poszczególnych klas ziarnowych w strumieniu materiału na podstawie parametrów teksturowych, bez konieczności dokonywania pełnej segmentacji obrazu z wyodrębnianiem granic poszczególnych ziaren. Podstawą obliczeń są wzorcowe parametry teksturowe (np. funkcja autokorelacji) wyznaczane w sposób doświadczalny. Zwrócono uwagę na konieczność redukcji liczby wymiarów funkcji (uśrednienie radialne), eliminację składowej stałej jasności obrazu oraz zastosowanie odpowiednich algorytmów rozwiązywania nadokreślonego układu równań, zapewniających nieujemność otrzymywanych rozwiązań. Przedstawiono obliczeniowe przykłady obrazów wzorcowych oraz analizy obrazu zawierającego wiele klas ziarnowych.
The paper presents a problem of determining fractions of individual grain-size categories in a mass flow on the basis of texture parameters without any need for making a complete segmentation image including separation of individual grains. The standard texture parameters (e.g. autocorrelation function) determined experimentally is a basis for calculations. It has been paid attention to necessity to reduce a number of function sizes (radial averaging), to eliminate a constant component of image brightness, and to apply appropriate algorithms of solution of an overdetermined system of equations which provide for non-negative solutions to be gained. There have been presented the calculative examples of standard images and image analysis including many size grades.

Aim. In his Kierkegaardian studies Jean Wahl states that there is a fundamental convergence between Plato and Søren Kierkegaard focused on the notions of identity and difference. Wahl suggests a sort of transposition of platonic metaphysics into the sphere of personal subjectivity. This paper intends to explain this passage from the same to the other from Plato to Kierkegaard. Concept. The article explains the passage from the same to the other from Plato to Kierkegaard. In both authors, the categories of being or not being, identity and difference, unity and multiplicity, becoming and rest explain the dynamic nature of the real. Results and conclusion. In both authors, the categories mensioned above explain the dynamic nature of the real. But while Plato applies these categories to the inteligibile word, Kierkegaard applies them to individual freedom, which supports reality as a whole. Cognitive value. Both searches lead to a single speculative answer and culminate in the same metaphysical categorisation, which applies analogously to everything real. Indeed, being and non-being, identity and difference, oneness and otherness, rest and becoming, explain the dialectic, intensive and relational dynamism of entia. At the same time, they essentially determine the power of human existence, infinitely possible and forever depending on the absolute.

The aim of this study is to discuss an original philosophical contribution made by Philoponus, who in In Cat. 18, 14–22 equates koinon in its most peculiar meaning with the concept of koinônia understood as a particular case of Platonic methexis. First, the paper analyzes the passages where the Neoplatonic commentators of the Categories distinguish four distinct meanings of the Aristotelian concept of koinon. Subsequently, this article emphasizes the differences between Philoponus’ hermeneutical suggestions and those of the other commentators. Philoponus clarifies that while every koinon is methekton, Aristotle’s koinon is characterized by the fact that the participation is ex isou and kata meros. Thus, koinônia, according to Philoponus, is a particular case of methexis, where everyone participating in something participates in it equally and singly. The example cited by Philoponus to explain Aristotle’s koinon is that of men participating equally and singly in human nature. The study concludes with a discussion of the relationship among the concepts of koinon, koinônia and methexis.

This paper shows the role of ὀνοματοποιεῖν in Neoplatonism and how this practice is ruled by an onto-logical canon. While ὀνοματοποιεῖν itself means the making of a brand new name, its usage is manifold. As Aristotle explains in Rh. III 2, poets take advantage of ὀνοματοποιεῖν to catch the undefined and give it a recognisable image, by means of a metaphorical name. In science, this practice, codified by Aristotle, is twofold: ὀνοματοποιεῖν meant both to re-semanticize words wellknown and to create names ex novo for things not discovered or studied yet. After analysing ὀνοματοποιεῖν’s recurrence in Aristotle, I illustrate that, according to Neoplatonic Commentators, impositio can be, both natural and technical, only of things in actuality, having a solid consistency. Intermediates between contraries, presumed relatives and powers as qualities are nameless – as  Philoponus notices in his In Categorias – since they haven’t an independent status and aren’t  definable. This bond between the original rhetorical practice and the ontological perspective, sketched in Int. 1, was strengthened by Alexander, who filled Aristotle’s gaps, stating that names signify things’ being, i.e. the form acquired in actuality.
