    Spoglądając przekrojowo na dzieje Polski, widać. że zainteresowanie budownictwem drewnianym ulegało istotnym zmianom. Drewno, będące przez długie lata najszerzej stosowanym materiałem budowlanym, w latach powojennych zostało trwale wyparte z tej pozycji, głównie za sprawą rygorystycznych przepisów przeciwpożarowych. Świat cały czas szedł do przodu, zmieniając sposób postrzegania drewna z prostego w obróbce materiału budowlanego na atrakcyjny składnik tworzyw drzewnych. W ten sposób powstało wiele „kompozytów” na bazie drewna, a wśród nich płyta CLT, będąca przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu. W artykule podano podstawowe cechy płyt CLT, istotne z punktu widzenia obliczeniowego, konstrukcyjnego i technologicznego. Zwrócono uwagę na konieczność odmiennego traktowania tych elementów w stosunku do klasycznych rozwiązań z wykorzystaniem drewna litego i klejonego.
    Interest in wooden structures was changing considerably in Polish history. Wood, which was for many years the most widely used building material, in the post-war years was completely displaced from this position, mainly due to strict fire regulations. All the time the world moved forward and changed the perception of wood from a simple structure material to an attractive component of complex wood materials. It has created a lot of wood-based “composite” materials. Among them is CLT plate, which is the subject of this article. The are presented in this paper basic characteristics of CLT panels, relevant to the calculation, design and technology. Attention was drawn to the need for different treatment of these elements compared to traditional solutions using solid and laminated wood.

    Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) is one of the fastest growing ELT sectors. To date, the teaching methods of MALL appear overly influenced by the desires of businesses, large institutions and technicians to produce easily measurable outcomes, rather than foundations built on upon pedagogical research that emphasises the importance of developing the communicative competence of learners. Findings from initial studies on MALL indicate not only the feasibility of using mobile devices for communicative purposes within classroom teaching, but also the opportunities they provide to implement a communicative approach more successfully than previously possible. Outworkings of this potential need to be established while the development of MALL remains at the “work in progress” stage.

    Opis:
    W artykule przedstawiono problem projektowania zrównoważonego w aspekcie wielokryterialnych metod oceny, koncentrując się na wyborze i zastosowaniu w projekcie materiałów budowlanych. Bazując na wytycznych i procedurach takich metod oceny, jak LEED – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, BREAM – Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method oraz na innych, dokonano wyboru proekologicznych materiałów budowlanych do zaprojektowania określonych obiektów architektury. Do budowy niskich budynków mieszkalnych jednorodzinnych zastosowano elementy wykonane z odpadów. Do budowy budynku wielofunkcyjnego, wysokiego zastosowano drewno klejone krzyżowo w technologii CLT – Cross Laminated Timber charakteryzujące się dobrymi parametrami proekologicznymi. W projekcie wielofunkcyjnego kompleksu miejskiego zastosowano beton ekologiczny, który radykalnie redukuje ślad węglowy w procesie jego wytwarzania. Analiza właściwości materiałów budowlanych, ich wybór w aspekcie zrównoważonego rozwoju i ich zastosowanie w projektowaniu daje wymierne korzyści w jakości kształtowania środowiska zbudowanego.
    The paper presents the problem of sustainable design in terms of multi-criteria evaluation methods focusing on the selection and use of building materials in the design. Based on the guidelines and procedures of such assessment methods as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), BREAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), and others, environmentally friendly building materials were selected for the design of specific building structures was made. For the construction of low-rise single-family homes, products made from waste were used. For the construction of a multipurpose, highrise building, the material chosen was cross-laminated timber (CLT), which is characterized by good environmental performance. The design of a multipurpose urban complex used environmentally friendly concrete, the manufacturing process of which has a dramatically reduced carbon footprint. An analysis of the properties of the building materials, their selection in terms of sustainability, and their use in designs provide tangible benefits in terms of the quality of formation of the built environment.

    W artykule przedstawiono sposób wymiarowania elementów zginanych wykonanych z drewna klejonego krzyżowo CLT w ujęciu normy PN-EN 1995-1-1. Do wymiarowania wykorzystano adaptację normowej metody opartej na teorii belek zespolonych mechanicznie. Jako uzupełnienie opisanej metody przedstawiono przykład obliczeniowy wykorzystujący pokazane podejście.
    The article presents the method of calculating elements subjected to bending moments made of cross laminated timber CLT according to PN-EN 1995-1-1. The modification of the standard method based on the theory of mechanically joined beams is used for calculations. A calculation example using the shown approach is presented.

    The main purpose of this article is to present methods and techniques that can be used in the process of teaching a foreign language at preschool age. The rst aspects to be addressed are developmental features of children, such as mechanical memory, short attention span, emotions and physiology of brain. The following issue described in the article refers to conventional methods, such as the Direct Method and the Audiolingual Method. The third part is devoted to unconventional methods, such as the Natural Approach, CLT, the Spiral Language System, as well as methods based on action (TPR), or observation and words. They are supported by interesting techniques that are considered key factors in the discussed topic.

    Opis:
    Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is a board molded designed wood item, amassed of cross-wise situated layers of lamellas. Subsequently, anticipating the particular conduct of such boards requires exact data about their twisting and shear quality and additionally their flexible properties. Directions with respect to the inference of execution qualities, assessment of similarity and stamping of wood-based boards for use in development are given in EN 13986. As per this standard bowing quality and stiffness of CLT must be evaluated following the system in EN 789. The last requires 4-point twisting trial of strip-formed examples with a width of 300 mm, remove the CLT boards. The traverse must be taken as 300 mm + 32 t, t being the ostensible thickness of the CLT board. By looking at aftereffects of bowing tests on strip-formed examples and on full boards it is appeared, that neither quality nor stiffness properties determined by testing strip-molded boards are suitable to survey the separate properties of the first boards. Moreover a check via doing static twisting tests (diversion estimations) under various stacking circumstances appeared, that the general stiffness properties (versatile parameters of the stiffness network) can, on the other hand to EN 789 tests or estimations with the compound hypothesis, be determined straightforwardly by a modular investigation of full-measure CLT boards.

    The maritime industry is multinational and multicultural. Understanding which leadership skills that are effective in such environments is necessary to be a successful leader. Work experience in multinational companies will give a different insight into which management practices are seen as desirable for future maritime leaders within a global industry. According to trait theories there are properties that can be trained and some that are linked to personality, which are not easily trainable. Since leadership skills are a combination of both trainable and not so trainable skills, it is necessary to understand what types of skills are seen as endorsed, and not endorsed by the future maritime managers. The present paper shows results from a questionnaire study using the GLOBE Leadership questionnaire where 52 master of maritime management students (i.e. maritime managers of the future) rates 112 different leadership skills according to which degree these skills support outstanding leadership or not. The results show which leadership skills the maritime leaders of the future believe will support outstanding leadership. Contrasts between participant with and without work experience form multinational corporations will be shown – giving an indication of how the perception of leadership is changed through work experience in a multi-cultural context. The result will give an insight in how future management practices should be. Knowledge of the universally endorsed maritime leadership skills can be used as a guideline in the recruitment process for maritime managers.

    Głównym celem tego artykułu jest wskazanie znaczenia podejścia komunikacyjnego CLT w nauczaniu konwersacji w języku angielskim. Pierwszą kwestią przedstawioną w tym artykule jest wyjaśnienie pojęcia konwersacji oraz ukazanie jej kwintesencji. Następnie zaprezentowano główne założenia przypisane podejściu komunikacyjnemu CLT, funkcje językowe i cztery kategorie kompetencji komunikacyjnej. Kolejny punkt stanowi opis ról przypisanych uczniom i nauczycielom w obrębie podejścia komunikacyjnego CLT oraz krótka wzmianka o trzech rodzajach materiałów, które zwiększają zdolności komunikacyjne. Ponadto, zaprezentowano i opisano zasady stosowane w projektowaniu technik, w tym listę mikro umiejętności. W dalszej części artykułu zaproponowane zostały różne kategorie i rodzaje aktywności werbalnej. Ostatnia część artykułu zawiera przykłady ćwiczeń.
