Bologna Process guidelines
Opis:
For more than ten years, the European direction of higher education transformation is outlined by the Bologna Process. The main purpose of the research was to find out about students’ opinions concerning fulfilling of the Process’ guidelines. In order to carry out the research, an auditorium questionnaire method was chosen. Thanks to the given research sample, it was possible to have a representative group of students varying in terms of universities (Polish Naval Academy (AMW), Medical University of Gdańsk (GUMED)), specificity of studies (full-time, extramural), degree (BA, MA), department (nursing, midwifery, national security, internal domestic security, pedagogy). A total number of respondents was 598. An obtained research material constitutes a source of information helping to asset students’ readiness and openness towards the proposed system transformations. Among the following instruments of the Bologna Process: a multi-staged studies’ mode, ECTS points, a diploma supplement, students’ mobility and the activity of Accreditation Commission, the positive opinions concerned students’ mobility, the activity of Accreditation Commission and multi-staged studies’ mode mostly. According to the statistics, the Polish Naval Academy students formulate opinions that multi-staged studies prolong the process of education and are the source of extra responsibilities (connected with BA writing and defense). GUMED’s students are positive about ECTS points and diploma supplements. Looking at the statistics, women are visibly more positive about students’ mobility and exchange as they allow to get to know and understand different cultures, whereas men put on emphasis on an unclear criteria of giving ECTS points. The obtained research material was analyzed using a statistics package SPSS 20 and a Microsoft Excel 2010 spread sheet.

Bologna Process
Erasmus
student mobility
Opis:
Introduction: The Bologna Process has initiated the “culture of reforms” in higher education, conditioning the economic and social development of Europe. Erasmus Plus is an EU programme of education in 2014-2020. Despite the numerous benefits it offers to students, their mobility within the Erasmus Plus Programme proves to be low (not satisfactory). Purpose: Review the theoretical and practical aspects of student mobility, with particular emphasis on the Erasmus Plus Programme. Materials and methods: We searched for extant networks through peer-reviewed literature and the world-wide web. Additionally, we used a data analysis on the mobility of students of medicine and health sciences in 2005-2015 within the Erasmus Plus Programme, at selected university in Poland. Results: According to the educational standards in the European Union, students of medical faculties are obliged to complete 12 semesters of studies comprising 5,500 hours under teachers’ supervision. In Poland there are 5,700 hours – these additional hours account for mandatory physical education and foreign language classes which are not taught in other countries. Data from the last decade indicate that student mobility in Poland is an overestimated phenomenon as it concerns a narrow circle of students. Conclusions: A student who benefits from a scholarship under the Erasmus Plus Programme enhances their self-esteem and development opportunities. Participation in an international programme seems to bring benefits alone. In practice, however, there prove to be numerous barriers related to student mobility, such as financial problems, language barriers and issues related to the recognition (crediting) of a period of study completed at a partner university.

Alexander Tartagnus, considered to be one of the last great representatives of the school of commentators, was also a defender of writing in Latin, which was the language of medieval scholarship. His life is an example of a harmonious combination of academic activities and legal practice, which was most fully manifested in the form of legal advice. His knowledge was used both by judges to assist them in resolving contentious issues and by parties who wanted to better understand their legal position. During his life he wrote seven books of consilia, which established his place among the authors contributing to the development of ius commune. The objective of this article is to present the biography of Alexander Tartagnus, which enlightens the reader not only about this single Bologna master, but also enriches their knowledge of the environment in which he had lived and worked.

Opis:
The Bologna process has created new opportunities for bilateral agreements between universities. One of the results of such a contract could be a double degree certificate which consists of two independent diplomas that are offered for the students who participated in an exchange. Programmes that involve strong quantitative courses have started to be interesting for universities with a quantitative approach which is connected with the recent disturbances in the financial markets that caused a big increase in demand for specialists from the risk measurement and management area. Additionally, a possibility of exchange highly improves the attractiveness of the programme. The aim of the paper is to show the benefits of the Bologna process for universities and students based on the example of the Master studies’ curriculum offered by one of the Polish universities.

In this article the authors present an analysis of a social movement, which was founded at the University of Gdansk in 2009 - 'OKUPÉ' (Open Committee for Liberation of the Educational Space). Their study employs sociological concepts concerning social movements and concentrates on different aspects of the social learning process - indirectly referring to the role of active citizenship in adult education. In order to gain the insider perspective on these issues, participatory action research (sociological intervention in particular) was chosen as a methodological approach. In addition, this paper is also a record of International Student Movement networking process and its initiatives for free and emancipatory education for all.

Background/Objective: The education system in Spanish universities evolves continuously, especially since 2010, when the Bologna Plan was incorporated. Some changes were needed in order to improve the quality of the practicum, which is a crucial subject on the academic program for the primary education bachelor. This investigation shows a pilot experience, and the aim of this study is to design a new approach of the practicum in the Primary Education Bacherlor’s Degree in the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Methods: 8 university teachers from the department of physical education (PE), 22 school PE teachers from 17 different schools and 44 students participated in this project. The practicum had a duration of 8 weeks, and the whole project a duration of 1 year. The innovation aspects are the pedagogical couple methodology, the participation of the students in the evaluation process and the type of homework students did. During the whole period there were internal and external evaluations to detect which measures worked and which did not. Results: The use of pedagogical couples, with a combined auto-evaluation, co-evaluation and hetero-evaluation, and the type of documents students had to produce as homework are the three pillars of the project, which has had good results in satisfaction and learning according to university teachers, school teachers and students. Conclusions: The results from this pilot project were positive, with a high level of satisfaction from the students, school teachers and university teachers. Students improved their knowledge working with the pedagogical couple system, and the homeworks students did were more motivating than in the past.

Opis:
The paper outlines the mission, management, and working of the library system at the University of Bologna. The system has a scientific committee including professors and librarians who work together to share their aims and choices. This collaboration makes it possible for librarians to better understand professors’ needs concerning teaching and research. Professors, in turn, have the opportunity to express their needs and understand certain technical choices. Some activities are carried out centrally, namely the acquisition and cataloguing of electronic resources, and the management of the Italian OPAC of serials and of the Bolognese OPAC of monographs. Other central services include the digital reference service called “Ask a librarian” and the University digital library. Finally, the library system supports librarians with training and a telephone help desk. Information literacy is also ensured with specific projects. Monitoring the system is another important activity ensured within the system. The system has dedicated staff members. However, not only do they communicate with librarians, but they also involve colleagues in the different activities to exploit specific skills and knowledge. This creates strong cohesion, very important for the system to provide high quality services
Z jednej strony, współpraca ta umożliwia bibliotekarzom lepsze zrozumienie potrzeb nauczycieli akademickich związanych z pracą naukową i dydaktyczną. Z drugiej strony, profesorowie mają szansę wyrazić swoje potrzeby i zrozumieć różne wybory natury technicznej.

This article deals with the European reorganization processes in higher education and in particular the so-called Bologna reform. In the case of German educational science, the Bologna Reform signifies a complete transition from the former study programs that end with a Diploma or Magister exam to the new system of Bachelor and Master degrees. Based on a full survey of current major study programs offered in the area of educational science this article focuses on how the Bologna reform affects the landscape of study programs in educational science. That leads to the question of the consequences for the organization of Educational Science with regard to the academic courses offered and thus for the position of the discipline in the German university system.

This paper discusses the higher education reform initiated by the Bologna Process. In her analysis, the author invokes the core Bologna documents and reflects on the notion of a hidden curriculum, positing that structural reforms in schools of higher education will, in the long run, significantly influence the position of universities in European societies, as well as intellectual dispositions of graduates. The hidden curriculum of universities within the European Area of Higher Education means that education is employed to serve higher- level economic and socio-political rather than scientific goals.

The aim of the article is an anthropological analysis of the meaning of a popular symbol of Bologna - the figure of umarell, a retiree whose passion is observing construction sites. Closely connected with the life of the city, umarell, like the 19th-century flâneur, can be considered a symbol of his era. This is a comic character, which signals his violation of norms regarding, among others, behavior of older people in public space. The problem of umarell's age becomes particularly important in the era of aging European societies. Umarell can be interpreted as a representative of the world of the past, but also symbolize passive participation in the technological revolution.

Opis:
After the 1990 political reforms, it took several years until Hungary officially signed the Bologna Declaration (1999). The progress was very slow: the implementation of the Bologna principles only started in 2002. The nation-wide introduction of the BA and BSc system began in 2006. The new system is now complete with the start of training at MA and MSc levels in autumn 2009. One of the most important bodies in this process has been the Hungarian Accreditation Commit-tee. This Board consists of university professors and academics and has control over the establishment and introduction of curricula in all higher education institutions in Hungary. As for cartography and geodesy, we had two independent 5-year degree programmes in the pre-Bologna system: Cartography training was available at Eótvós Lorand University, while Surveying and Geoinformatical Engineering training was offered by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The College of Surveying and Land Administration in Szekesfehervar offered two 3-year degree programmes. Due to the integration of Hungarian higher education institutions in 2000, which drastically reduced the number of institutions, this college was incorpo-rated as a faculty into the University of West Hungary based in Sopran. These three institutions had worked a lot on establishing and developing their own programmes. However, these individual programmes have lost their independence with the generał implementation of the Bologna process in Hungary. It is only natural that every institution was interested in finding a way to keep as much of their original curricula as only possible. Although about 140 BA and BSc programmes were established at national level, the Bologna system in Hungary did not allow any BSc programme in cartography. However, Eótvós Lorand University established its MSc programme in cartography and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics established an MSc programme related to cartography. Four Hungarian universities agreed on starting a new MSc programme in GIS, but the Hungarian Accreditation Committee refused the approval of their joint proposal. Some BSc and MSc programmes (such as geography and informatics) established specialization in GIS, and this gives us the opportunity of teaching cartography to a larger number of students. There are still other cartography-related MSc programmes waiting for approval by the Hungarian Accreditation Committee. The paper sums up the conclusions of the Bologna process and the visions after the first BSc students have just completed their studies.

While there is general agreement that we need to increase the quality of education, there is less agreement on the measures to be taken. This paper focuses on the need to build the high-quality teaching profession to respond to the changing role of teachers in the twenty first century. It is argued that changes in the system of education should include a central place for the teacher and the quality of teacher education. The paper looks at selected aspects of teacher education policy in relation to the Bologna process and changes that were implemented at different levels of the system of education in Poland. A specific concern of this paper is policies that contribute to raising teacher education quality in a way which responds to the challenges of teachers preparation, recruitment, work and careers, and especially teachers’ lifelong learning. The implications of the analysis are that teacher education policy development in Poland should focus on futher actions for attracting to the teaching profession the best candidates and for retaining the best teachers in the school system in order to build a high-quality teaching profession. Some measures for achieving these goals are proposed.

Opis:
Finland is a member of the European Higher Education Area. The principles of the Bologna Declaration have become reality in certain respects. The form and structure of Finnish law degrees are uniform with the Bologna model. However, mobility and the free movement of students have only been realised in a limited sense. Finnish law degrees are still closed both in international and national respects. Uniformity of degrees is treated here as a means to carrying out free movement and the right of establishment as the principles of the European Union. Uniformity of degrees is a necessary precondition in recognising degrees earned in another country. Without the recognition of the workmanship and degree earned in a home country, it is very difficult to establish oneself in a host county. Both the basic treaties and the applicable directives of the European Union obligate member states to recognise degrees earned in other member states. There are, however, important exceptions and restrictions. Lawyers often work as judges, prosecutors, bailiffs and other officers. They are subject to exceptions and restrictions. As a rule, advocates have the freedom to provide services and establish themselves in a permanent way, and act as advocates in another member state. Even in this case, there are steps and restrictions. In practice, it is not easy to move to another member state and act as an advocate with the help of a law degree earned in the home state. Basically, the reasons for these difficulties are the differences between national legal systems.

The article is devoted to the sphere of higher education in two former Soviet countries: Russia and Belarus . It is aimed to compare the systems of higher education in these countries under the angle of global and regional challenges . The article is based on national statistics from both states and survey data . The author analyses the ways that each of the countries’ practices to increase its educational competitiveness on the global level and adapt to the market conditions . It is described that both countries use such mechanisms in the sphere of higher education as an educational service for foreign students and membership in the educational associations (European and Eurasian) . The scale of the systems of higher education and their potential are described to explain the similarities and differences between the two countries. Three types of educational integration are described . The article concludes that the system of higher education in Belarus is currently developing in a way that differs from Russia and its achievements are much smaller; at the same time, regardless of the declarations on the necessity of internationalisation, current development leads Belarus further away from the European education system, while also not make it closer to Russia . A lack of resources and political dominance over the educational goals make the Belarusian system of higher education not as attractive for students as the Russian one.

Opis:
Within the last decade the most significant development of the European Union in the education field has been the Bologna Process. The reference point of the Process is the European Qualifications Framework at the international level, and national qualifications framework at the national level. The Bologna term of “sector qualifications” is dealt with in two different meanings. The first is related to the hierarchy of the field of education from programme to broad field in the UNESCO approach. The second is sector standards determined according to the needs of economic sectors. This paper is devoted to developing the field architecture of the scientific family of program qualifications. In this work, while the field qualifications have been developed in Turkey, international standard classifications of education, occupations and industries were taken into account; and moreover, qualifications were developed from the vertically and horizontally hierarchical point of view, and chronological perspective. In this work, it is suggested that EQF-LLL and NQF can also be applied to all types of field qualifications.
