The uncertainty and turbulences of market surroundings, globalization, developing linkages among companies and market instability entail tough challenge for contemporary organizations. In order to survive they must evolve their behaviors and competencies, strengthen strategic abilities as well as develop the lightning reaction to market signals. Hence, they need to develop agility indicators. These indicators become of key importance as the company intends to achieve market success. The author brings up issues of the agility, its indicators and the strategies which can lead to achieving agile enterprise, since this issue has not been widely discussed in the Polish literature on the subject. The goal of the article is to get these issues across and therefore it has been based on the literature published internationally. Analysis of these sources allows for specification of agility indicators, such as speed and flexibility, emphasizing that they should be linked together. The author of the presented article is reaching a conclusion, that agility can be attained by two interconnected strategies: exploiting the agility in order to achieve the competitive edge and integration of the organization, people and technology.

The aim of this article is to analyze the challenges and success factors on organizations’ path to agile transformation, as frequently discussed in the literature and encountered in business practice. The research conducted proved that large-scale agile transformations require a dedicated approach with set of tools and best practices in place. The implementation challenges and barriers have been categorized into method-, organization-, culture- and technology-oriented groups. As a result of an in-depth analysis carried on for the purpose of this paper, a dedicated methodology of agile transformation has been proposed to ease the implementation process.

Background: A number of Agile maturity models (AMMs) have been proposed to guide software organizations in their adoption of Agile practices. Typically the AMMs suggest that higher maturity levels are reached by gradually adding more practices. However, recent research indicates that certain Agile practices, like test-driven development and continuous integration, are being abandoned. Little is known on the rationales for abandoning Agile practices. Aim: We aim to identify which Agile practices are abandoned in industry, as well as the reasons for abandoning them. Method: We conducted a web survey with 51 respondents and interviews with 11 industry practitioners with experience in Agile adoption to investigate why Agile practices are abandoned. Results: Of the 17 Agile practices that were included in the survey, all have been abandoned at some point. Nevertheless, respondents who retained all practices as well as those who abandoned one or more practices, perceived their overall adoption of Agile practices as successful. Conclusion: Going against the suggestions of the AMMs, i.e. abandoning Agile one or more practices, could still lead to successful outcomes. This finding indicates that introducing Agile practices gradually in a certain order, as the AMMs suggest, may not always be suitable in different contexts.

Agile methods for project management are often treated as methods for mitigating risk. However, there is disagreement as to whether explicit methods of risk management should be used in projects which are executed according to Agile methodology or is the implicit risk management built into Agile methodologies sufficient. To contribute to the discussion, an attempt has been made to identify risks that are either caused by the introduction of an Agile methodology to a project or become more significant when such methodology is in use. If such risks exist, this would be evidence that explicit risk management is required, even in the case of Agile methodologies. The results of this research may be useful for any organization that is in the process of selecting a methodology for project management and is considering Agile methodologies.

Metody Agile zostały wymyślone w celu szybszego dostarczenia działającego oprogramowania do klienta oraz dostosowania się oprogramowania do zmiennych potrzeb klienta. Można zauważyć, że istnieje wiele technik i praktyk wymyślonych oraz opracowanych w kontekście tradycyjnej inżynierii wymagań, które obecnie wykorzystywane są z dobrym rezultatem przez metody Agile. Celem tego artykułu jest pokazanie, w jaki sposób techniki inżynierii wymagań są wykorzystywane przez metody Agile oraz w jaki sposób metody te mogą być udoskonalone za pomocą tych technik.
Agile Software Development approaches have become increasingly popular during the last few years. Agile practises have been developed with the aim to deliyer software faster and to ensure that the software meets changing needs of customers. We can find out that there are a lot of practices and approaches which are created and developed in context of traditional Requirements Engineering and which are used by Agile methods with a good result. The goal of this article is to show how the Requirements Engineering technics are used by Agile methods and how this methods can be improved by them.

The aim of this paper is to present the quantitative perspective of the agile transformation processes in IT organisations. The phenomenon of agile transformation becomes a complex challenge for an IT organisation since it has not been analysed in detail so far. There is no research on the readiness of IT organisations to realise agile transformation processes. Such processes also prove to have uncontrolled character. Therefore, to minimise the risk of failure referring to the realisation of transformation processes, it is necessary to monitor them. It is also necessary to identify and analyse such processes to ensure their continuous character.

Artykuł dotyczy metodyk zwinnych zarządzania projektami. Przedstawiając największe korzyści wynikające z wdrożenia metodyk zwinnych w przedsiębiorstwie oraz związane z tym wyzwania, koncentruje się głównie na etapie podejmowania decyzji. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja uwarunkowań zastosowania metodyk zwinnych oraz zaproponowanie kryteriów ich oceny. Z uwagi na zakres rozważań, czyli całość przedsiębiorstwa, uwarunkowania pogrupowano korzystając z systemowego ujęcia modelu organizacji. Opracowanie zawiera wyniki z wnioskowania opartego na przeglądzie literatury, studium przypadku 4 organizacji z branży IT, wywiadach oraz osobistym doświadczeniu autorów.
The article concerns agile methodologies of project management. By presenting the greatest benefits resulting from the implementation of agile methodologies in the enterprise and the related challenges, it focuses mainly on the decision-making stage. The main goal of the article is to identify the conditions for the use of agile methodologies and to propose criteria for their evaluation. In result of the scope of presented deliberations – the whole enterprise, the conditions were divided into groups using the systematic approach to the organization model. The article contains scientific results from research based on a literature review, a case study of 4 organizations from the IT industry, interviews, and personal experience of authors.

There are many small businesses create their own, original software or performing services for third parties, in IT market. Small teams often work by the so-called. agile methodologies, which are limited by the amount of project documentation, and most of the procedures considerably simplified. However, small teams not reject good practice, including design patterns. The aim of the article is to present some difficulties faced by small development teams in the implementation of design patterns, and to present the author’s method of supporting an increase in the quality of implementation of design patterns.
Na rynku IT występuje wiele małych przedsiębiorstw tworzących własne, autorskie oprogramowanie lub wykonujące usługi dla firm trzecich. Małe zespoły często pracują według tzw. zwinnych metodyk wytwórczych, w których ograniczona jest ilość dokumentacji projektowej, a większość procedur znacznie uproszczona. Jednakże małe zespoły nie rezygnują ze stosowania dobrych praktyk, w tym wzorców projektowych. Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie wybranych trudności, z którymi borykają się małe zespoły programistyczne przy implementacji wzorców projektowych, oraz przedstawienie autorskiej metody wspomagającej wzrost jakości implementacji wzorców projektowych.

The boundaries between traditional and agile approach methods are disappearing. A significant number of software projects require a continuous implementation of tasks without dividing them into sprints or strict project phases. Customers expect more flexibility and responsiveness from software vendors in response to the ever-changing business environment. To achieve better results in this field, Capgemini has begun using the Lean philosophy and Kanban techniques. The following article illustrates examples of different uses of Kanban and the main stakeholder of the process. The article presents the main advantages of transparency and ways to improve the customer co-operation as well as stakeholder relationships. The Authors try to visualise all of the elements in the context of the project. There is also a discussion of different approaches in two software projects. The article fokuses on the main challenges and the evolutionary approach used. An attempt is made to answer the question how to convince both the team as well as the customer, and how to optimise ways to achieve great results.

Context Software start-ups have shown their ability to develop and launch innovative software products and services. Small, motivated teams and uncertain project scope makes start-ups good candidates for adopting Agile practices. Objective We explore how start-ups use Agile practices and what effects can be associated with the use of those practices. Method We use a case survey to analyze 84 start-up cases and 56 Agile practices. We apply statistical methods to test for statistically significant associations between the use of Agile practices, team, and product factors. Results Our results suggest that development of the backlog, use of version control, code refactoring, and development of user stories are the most frequently reported practices. We identify 22 associations between the use of Agile practices, team, and product factors. The use of Agile practices is associated with effects on source code and overall product quality. A teams’ positive or negative attitude towards best engineering practices is a significant indicator for either adoption or rejection of certain Agile practices. To explore the relationships in our findings, we set forth a number of propositions that can be investigated in future research. Conclusions We conclude that start-ups use Agile practices, however without following any specific methodology. We identify the opportunity for more fine-grained studies into the adoption and effects of individual Agile practices. Start-up practitioners could benefit from Agile practices in terms of better overall quality, tighter control over team performance, and resource utilization.

The aim of the paper is to present and analyze mayor problems with the implementation of Agile Scrum on the example of Wolters Kluwer. An attempt to find an answer to a question about an efficient way of implementing Scrum methodology in a large organization that adopts traditional management methods is another goal of the current article. Major advantages of Scrum practice are presented together with the scope of their implementation in the described organization. Basing on research findings and author’s experiences major problems faced in the implementation process are described together with recommendations about effective Scrum implementation.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie i analiza głównych problemów z wdrażaniem Agile Scrum na przykładzie Wolters Kluwer oraz próba odpowiedzi na pytanie w jaki sposób skutecznie wdrożyć metodykę Scrum w dużej organizacji stosującej tradycyjne metodyki zarządzania. Przedstawiono kluczowe zalety praktyki Scrum, oraz zakres wdrożenia w opisywanym przedsiębiorstwie. W artykule na podstawie badania i doświadczeń autora opisano główne problemy podczas wdrożeń oraz podano zalecenia dotyczące skutecznego wdrażania Scrum, które pozwolą czytelnikowi zrozumieć ich znaczenie i wykorzystać je we własnej praktyce.

The aim of the article is to present the evolution of competitive advantage concept. The article is composed of three basic parts. First, the core of competitive advantage was presented. The paper first presents basic information about the Scrum method. Then it summarizes the state of art in the domain of Scrum implementation, especially as far as the critical factors of its success are concerned. On the basis of literature survey a new model classifying Scrum implementation critical factors is proposed. The model divides Scrum implementation critical factors into five categories: Project Team factors, Psychological and cultural factors, Process and Method, Environment and Technology. The model is then developed and verified using the case study method. The research was carried out in a French IT company by means of a participating observation. The company was implementing Scrum, which ended up as a success. A journal of the Scrum implementation was conducted, presenting the experiences of the Scrum Team, their opinions and changes in the Scrum method which were introduced. On its basis critical factors, crucial for the success of Scrum implementation, classified according to the above mentioned model, were identified, completing those which had been found in the literature.

Wyniki badań, oparte na badaniu opinii 79 członków sześciu zespołów operacyjnych jednej z firm sektora finansowego, wskazały na znaczącą rolę WoW w codziennym funkcjonowaniu zespołów. Co więcej, w badanych zespołach potwierdza się, że szczególną wartość przywiązuje się do pracy zespołowej, a narzędzia wspierające tę formę pracy są oceniane jako bardziej skuteczne w porównaniu z narzędziami skoncentrowanymi na indywidualnym działaniu. Badania potwierdziły również, że koncepcja WoW nie jest tylko modnym trendem, ale narzędziem o realnym, pozytywnym wpływie na codzienne funkcjonowanie zespołów.
The main goal of the article is to examine the impact of the Way of Working (WoW) concept on the efficiency of operational teams. The study focuses on evaluating the use of WoW tools, their effectiveness, and the impact of the concept on the daily functioning of operational teams. The results, based on a survey of 79 members of 6 operational teams from a company in the financial sector, indicated a significant role of WoW in the daily functioning of teams. Moreover, in the teams studied, it was confirmed that particular value is attached to teamwork, and tools supporting this form of work are rated as more effective compared to tools focused on individual action. The research also confirmed that the WoW concept is not just a current trend, but a tool with a real, positive impact on the daily functioning of teams.

A proper estimation of time in user stories is a crucial task for both the IT team as well as for the customer, especially in agile projects. Although agile practices offer a lot of flexibility and promote a culture of continuous change, there are always clearly de need timeboxed periods where an IT company has to commit to delivering working soft-ware. Estimating time of user story implementation provides clarity and the opportunity to control the project by the management, yet at the same time, it can increase pressure on software developers. Thus, incorrectly estimated user stories may lead to quality problems including system malfunction, technical debt, and general user experience issues. The paper describes user story characteristics, reasons of user story estimation inaccuracy as well as a model of their potential impact on post-release defects in large IT software ventures, all derived from the conducted interview with practitioners in Capgemini software development company.

Firmy programistyczne należą do branży, w której powszechnie stosuje się zarządzanie projektami oraz koncepcję pracy w zespołach. Celem niniejszego artykułu są rozważania teoretyczne dotyczące analizy modeli zarządzania zespołami projektowymi w sektorze informatycznym (IT). W artykule omówiono klasyczne modele zarządzania zespołami projektowymi, pracę zespołów w strukturze sieciowej oraz dokonano przeglądu uwarunkowań związanych z tym obszarem w zwinnych metodach zarządzania projektami (Agile Project Management – APM). W większości projektów informatycznych właściwe jest wdrożenie zespołu sieciowego, którego struktura jest zmienna w czasie oraz nie posiada stałego składu. Jednakże w niektórych przypadkach stosuje się modele klasyczne, szczególnie model chirurgiczny. Rekomenduje się przeprowadzenie badań dotyczących zależności struktur sieciowych i efektywności zespołów projektowych w branży IT oraz zależności pomiędzy określonymi funkcjami personalnymi członków tych zespołów.

The authors consider symbolic interactionism to be a suitable theoretical framework to analyze projects in creative sectors because it affords ample space for individual and collective creativity. Furthermore, teams working on different cultural artifacts establish a negotiated order (interactionist term coined by A. L. Strauss) among artists, managers, the audience, and sponsors, et cetera, by discussing and translating various meanings and perspectives. This is especially noticeable when projects are managed using an agile methodology. The application of agile methodologies in creative sectors is a relatively new idea, although it seems to be in harmony with the nature of artistic work. For instance, it implies the acceptance of unpredictability and flexibility while also recognizing the ability and individuality of project participants. There are also specific problems related to the personalities of the artists and the irregularities and discontinuities inherent in the process of creation. The first part of the article raises the topic of creativity in symbolic interactionism. This perspective is subsequently extended to teamwork in creative sectors employing the description of collective work in Howard Becker’s book entitled Art Worlds as an example. The authors reflect on other contemporary works explaining the cultural shift transpiring during the move from the analog age to the current digital age and its influence on the process of creation in the world of artists. This leads to a discussion of distributed agility, a concept stemming from agile management. The various agile methods are mentioned and shortly characterized; we also present a succinct depiction of historical perspective. The literature on the use of agile methods in creative sectors is referred to along with some of the challenges they face. The need to develop an agile management methodology specifically for creative industries is emphasized. This article utilizes the literature on symbolic interactionism to explain group dynamics by drawing analogies with agile management.

We are currently dealing with disruptions in supply chains. They come from faulty production systems, in poor organization of distribution processes or are related to external factors, often unseen. Consequently, it is necessary to build resistant chains. This article discusses this topic in the context of the basic types of supply chains, i.e. agile, lean and green. The aim of the study was to assess the types of chains in which the tested production entities are embedded and check if the proposed models of building resilience take this into account. The reason this should be investigated further, is to indicate relationships in areas that are rarely captured in research models. Both quantitative and qualitative methods were used in the work. Interviews were conducted in over seventy subjects and a critical analysis of the literature on model of resilient supply chains was performed. As a result of the work undertaken, it can be concluded, inter alia, that in the economic reality, there are hybrid chains in which the characteristics of pro-saving chains prevail. It was also established that the proposed research models for resilient chains should take into account, to greater extent, accents compatible with the nature of the chains occurring an economic reality. It is also necessary to extend their content to include pro-environmental components. At the same time, it is not unequivocal that the chains with the advantage of agility-related attributes are more resistant than the chains in which the greater concentration is attributed to the attributes of lean or green chains. Determining this requires further research.

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the relationship between Reverse Logistics and the performance of food and beverage manufacturing firms in Kenya. Methodology: An explanatory research design was employed in the study. All 172 of Kenya’s registered food and manufacturing businesses were considered using the census approach. Using questionnaires, primary data was gathered. This study employed 172 questionnaires. Version 25 of the SPSS statistical program was used to analyze the data. Findings: The study found that there is a correlation of 0.705 between Reverse Logistics and the performance of Kenyan food and beverage manufacturing companies. Reverse Logistics accounted for 49.4% of the variation in the performance of food and beverage manufacturing firms in Kenya. A unique contribution to theory, practice, and policy: The Stakeholders theory was validated. The study noted that the use of packaging that is returnable may save costs for the firms and improve efficiency. Reverse logistics can help a company identify ways to reuse, resell or recycle materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Implementing reverse logistics not only helps in profit margins but also helps improve the company’s brand reputation.

The aims of this article are: 1) to offer a deeper and more theoretically grounded understanding of the dysfunctions of the institutional support system for people with disabilities in Poland; and 2) to propose inspirations for a new, ‚agile’ disability policy. To this end the author applies concepts from Niklas Luhmann’s theory of social systems and its more recent interpretations, as well as ideas from so-called complexity theory. It is shown that the dysfunctions of the institutional system can be interpreted as resulting from the system’s autopoiesis and insensitivity to the complexity of the environment. Yet, as the system/environment relationship is precarious, the system could be motivated to redefine itself and to implement solutions that would make it more responsive to the environment. It is argued that an agile disability policy, based on the assumption that complexity is a crucial environmental feature, could be a solution to this problem.

Firmy programistyczne tworzą jedną z typowych branż, w których stosuje się zarządzanie projektami i koncepcję pracy w zespołach, a funkcjonowanie tych zespołów stanowi dominującą formę organizacji pracy. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wyników badań dotyczących rozpoznania najczęstszych czynników ryzyka w zwinnie zarządzanych projektach IT. Badania przeprowadzono w formie ustrukturyzowanych wywiadów pogłębionych na próbie 111 kierowników projektów, liderów i członków zespołów projektowych. W omawianych badaniach zwrócono uwagę na proces wyłaniania czynników ryzyka oraz ich ocenę podczas planowania projektu, jak również na najczęściej pojawiające się czynniki ryzyka w projekcie zarządzanym zwinnie. Wyniki badań zestawiono z krytyczną analizą literatury przedmiotu oraz ze światowymi raportami dotyczącymi czynników sukcesu i niepowodzeń projektów IT. Przedstawiono również rekomendacje do przeprowadzenia dalszych badań dotyczących oceny czynników ryzyka, które wynikają bezpośrednio ze specyfiki projektów informatycznych, oraz stosowania zwinnego podejścia do zarządzania projektami zarówno w ujęciu organizacji pracy zespołu projektowego, jak i potencjalnych grup interesariuszy projektu.

Context: Automated acceptance testing validates a product’s functionality from the customer’s perspective. Text-based automated acceptance tests (AATs) have gained popularity because they link requirements and testing. Objective: To propose and evaluate a cost-effective systematic reuse process for automated acceptance tests. Method: A systematic approach, method engineering, is used to construct a systematic reuse process for automated acceptance tests. The techniques to support searching, assessing, adapting the reusable tests are proposed and evaluated. The constructed process is evaluated using (i) qualitative feedback from software practitioners and (ii) a demonstration of the process in an industry setting. The process was evaluated for three constraints: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and facilitating conditions. Results: The process consists of eleven activities that support development for reuse, development with reuse, and assessment of the costs and benefits of reuse. During the evaluation, practitioners found the process a useful method to support reuse. In the industrial demonstration, it was noted that the activities in the solution helped in developing an automated acceptance test with reuse faster than creating a test from scratch i.e., searching, assessment and adaptation parts. Conclusion: The process is found to be useful and relevant to the industry during the preliminary investigation.

The effective functioning of an agile organization requires appropriate adaptation of solutions in the field of human capital management to its essence. The creativity of its employees is a key challenge and condition for the success of an agile organization. Therefore, the conditions for shaping this competence will be discussed. The authors will present a model of human capital management system in an agile organization and indicate specific features and tools. Based on this background, they will explain the significant differences between flexible and agile human capital management. The aim of the article is to identify factors contributing to the development of employee creativity, as well as to reveal potential barriers in this process. A review of the literature on the subject and the results of secondary research have been used to develop it further. The bases for conclusions are the results of the case studies and good practices of the companies successfully applying agile management.

Currently, the process of project development must not only be efficient and taking into consideration all stakeholders needs. More and more important becomes flexibility in actions allowing quick adaptation to rapidly changing requirements and environment. The other crucial element is transparency [Ustawa, 2011; www.gov.uk; Lathrop, Ruma, 2010] which let’s all the external organizations and civil, who are in most cases the key stakeholders, constant verification of taken actions. It’s also very important to engage the main stakeholders in the development process to make sure that the final product will meet their expectations as well as fulfill their needs.Given such a ranking cell it is necessary to calibrate the method of implementation of the projects. W niniejszym artykule zostały przedstawione model zarządzania i struktura organizacji w kontekście dostosowywania się do zmieniających się warunków otoczenia biznesowego. Podjęto próbę odpowiedzenia na pytanie, czy istnienie płaskiej, dynamicznie zmieniającej się struktury organizacyjnej, w której władza jest rozproszona wśród wszystkich pra‑ cowników, świadczy o istnieniu empowermentu. Celem artykułu było także przyjrzenie się holokracjom, a więc motywom, dla których firmy rezygnują z tradycyjnej struktury hierarchicznej, oraz próba odpowiedzenia na pytanie, czy rozwiązania strukturalne dają podstawy do zaistnienia empowermentu na poziomie psychologicznym. Przedstawiono także genezę empowermentu jako koncepcji w naukach o zarządzaniu oraz próbę wyjaśnienia wątpliwości terminologicznych. Przeprowadzone rozważania prowadzą do wniosku, że w przypadku holokracji można mówić o zarządzaniu partycypacyjnym, a nie o empowermencie.
This article is an attempt to answer the question whether having flat, dynamically changing organisational structure, where power is distributed among employees, may lead to a conclusion that empowerment is present in holacracy. The genesis of the concept of empowerment and holacracy is presented. It can be concluded that in holacracy employee participation is present rather than empowerment.

Wiele globalnych przedsiębiorstw produkujących zaawansowane technicznie produkty, dysponuje złożonymi łańcuchami dostaw. Przedsiębiorstwa te realizując projekty reorganizacji ww. łańcuchów osiągają często rezultaty prowadzonej rekonfiguracji daleko gorsze od planowanych. Przyczyn tego stanu rzeczy należy upatrywać między innymi w: 1. Zróżnicowaniu pod względem wielkości łańcuchów dostaw. 2. Jego elastyczności i złożoności. 3. Nieprzewidywalności skutków zmian w złożonych łańcuchach dostaw. 4. Szybkości zmian w otoczeniu i w samym przedsiębiorstwie. Dlatego naturalną konsekwencją wydaje się sięgniecie po metodyki agile przy realizacji projektów rekonfiguracji łańcucha dostaw. W artykule, przedstawiono założenia metodyki ASPM, która została stworzona do planowania i realizacji projektów reorganizacji złożonych łańcuchów dostaw. Metodyka ta, jako metodyka agile, zakłada realizację projektu w wielu iteracjach oraz każdorazową analizę powstającego w wyniku reorganizacji systemu logistycznego łańcucha dostaw. Daje to podstawę do kolejnej reorganizacji. Takie podejście eliminuje opisane wcześniej problemy wynikające ze złożoności łańcucha dostaw i zmienności otoczenia, w którym on funkcjonuje.
Many global companies producing complex products, has a complex supply chains. These companies performing supply chain reorganization projects, often state that the results of such a reconfiguration are far worse than planned. The reasons for this state of affairs should be sought in: 1. Size diversity of supply chains. 2. Its flexibility and complexity. 3. The unpredictability of the effects of changes in complex supply chains. 4. The rate of change in the environment and in the enterprise. Therefore, it seems natural consequence of reach for the agile methodology in the implementation of supply chain reconfiguration projects. The article presents guidelines ASPM methodology, which was developed for the planning and implementation of complex reorganization of supply chains. This methodology, as agile methodology, the project involves many iterations and to the respective analysis resulting from the reorganization of the logistics supply chain. This gives rise to a further reorganization. This approach eliminates the problems described above due to the complexity of the supply chain and interchangeability environment in which it operates.

In the HO sector, logistics and supply chain management is a critical area which consumes more than 80% of total relief budgets and therefore needs to be handled both effectively and efficiently. An integrated Lean and Agile management model, which has been successfully implemented in the business sector to achieve effective and efficient utilization of resources, is one strategy proposed for implementation by humanitarian organizations. To that end, this study carries out the important initial work of defining the boundaries between Lean and Agile operations in Humanitarian Organization Supply Chains in order to build a model that increases both effectiveness and efficiency. Methods: The Lean & Agile Decoupling Point (LADP) model has been developed after researching the scope and thematic areas of 88 international humanitarian organizations. Seven humanitarian logistics and supply chain management (HL-SCM) professionals were interviewed at length to accurately identify key processes and establish optimal decoupling points in accordance with the priority and scope of each thematic area. Results: Of the 88 HOs researched, 79 were doing both developmental and emergency work, so the LADP model is designed for such dual-purpose organizations. The LADP model is built on a flowchart for handling key processes, divided between developmental and emergency operations. Optimal decoupling points are identified starting from an organization's broad scope and extending to the details of HL-SCM. The model accurately reflects the experience and recommendations of the seven HL-SCM professionals consulted and is applicable to a wide variety of HOs. Conclusions: The LADP model provides the critical groundwork that can renew and strengthen HO operations, leading to reliability in which donors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders will have confidence. This study is another step forward toward sustainable resource consumption that will save lives and serve disaster-affected people more effectively and efficiently.
Wstęp: Organizacje humanitarne charakteryzują się pewnymi ograniczeniami w zakresie transparentności i efektywności wykorzystywania zasobów, wynikającymi z przyczyn ich istnienia, oczekiwań darczyńców lub innych udziałowców. Organizacje te powinny przyswajać wiedzę z sektora działalności komercyjnej w celu poprawy efektywności wykorzystywania dostępnych zasobów. W działalności charytatywnej, zarządzanie łańcuchem dostaw oraz logistyka są obszarami krytycznymi, które pochłaniają ponad 80% całego budżetu i dlatego też powinny cechować się efektywności i sprawnością. Zintegrowany model zarządzania Lean and Agile, które był z powodzeniem wdrożony w sektorze komercyjnym w celu poprawy efektywności zarządzania, jest strategią proponowaną dla wdrożenia również w organizacjach humanitarnych. Prezentowana praca jest początkowym etapem zdefiniowania granic pomiędzy operacjami Lean oraz Agile w łańcuchach organizacji hm unitarnych w celu zbudowania modelu zwiększającego efektywności i wydajność ich operacji. Metody: Model Lean & Agile Decoupling Point (LADP) został opracowany po dokonaniu analizy obszarów wydzielonych tematycznie w 88 organizacjach humanitarnych. Przeprowadzono wywiady z siedmioma specjalistami z zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw z obszaru HL-SCM w celu precyzyjnego zdefiniowania kluczowych procesów oraz wyznaczenia optymalnych punktów rozdziału w zależności od priorytetów i zakresu każdego z obszarów tematycznych. Wyniki: W obrębie 88 poddanych badaniom organizacji humanitarnych, 79 z nich prowadzą działalność zarówno kryzysową jak i zapobiegawczą, tak więc model LADP został opracowany dla organizacji o podwójnych celach działalności. Model LADP jest zbudowany w oparciu o schemat przepływu dla kluczowych procesów, podzielonych pomiędzy operacjami o charakterze zapobiegawczym jak i kryzysowym. Optymalne punktu rozdziału zostały określone począwszy od zakresu ogólnego i następnie do coraz bardziej szczegółowego. Model odzwierciedla dokładnie doświadczenia i rekomendacje siedmiu specjalistów, z którymi przeprowadzono wywiady. Jest on możliwy do zastosowania w wielu typach istniejących organizacji humanitarnych. Wnioski: Model LADP dostarcza gruntownej bazy, która w istotny sposób może przyczynić się do przemodelowania i wzmocnienia działalności operacyjnej organizacji humanitarnych, zwiększając ich wiarygodność w oczach darczyńców oraz innych udziałowców. Praca ta jest kolejnym etapem wspomagającym wzmocnienie całego łańcucha zasobów przeznaczonych niesieniu pomocy poszkodowanych i potrzebującym w sposób jeszcze bardziej efektywny i skuteczny.

Research background: Recent decades may undoubtedly be deemed as a period of exceptional transformation on a global scale. One element of this transformation is the reorganisation of traditional ways of business management (on all ontological levels). As a result, agile approach is increasingly often considered one of the key aspects of building the competitive advantage of a company. In this paper, agile approach is understood as the businesses' capability of responding promptly to market needs. Purpose of the article: The aim of this paper is to present the research results on the use of agile approach in chosen organizations. More specifically, the main purpose of this article is to describe how organizations are transformed with use of the agile approach. Methods: In accordance with the goal of the article, the organizations selected for empirical research are characterized by revenue increase levels of over 100% (such organizations undergo a dynamic transformation caused by growth), and employment ranging from 10 to 50 employees. The studied companies operate mainly in the IT industry and use technologies to organize the processes of identification and tracking of customer behaviour to a large extent. Several research methods were used in this paper: literature studies, expert interview, participant observation, and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. Findings & Value added: The article describes the usage level of the agile (and linear) approach in the organizational transformation (through the dynamic growth of revenues), and presents the agile approach model, which can be used as an accelerator of the business' development. In addition, the authors undertook the first (limited and unrepresentative) attempt to evaluate the use of agile approach in the context of such indicators as: communication with customers, profit increase, and minimization of the risk related to introducing a new product on the market.

This article aims at discussing the values and principles of the so called AGILE management (AGILE methodologies) in the context of public policy making. In particular, an effort is put into answering the question on the possibility of including the AGILE values and principles in the conduct of policy making. Known from the IT sector, AGILE methodologies have been lately drawing more attention of public policy makers in the world. This approach seems to have a big advantage over hitherto applied modes of public operation, as it allows for a quicker adaptation of policies to changes of the environment. At the same time however, it seems to pose much bigger challenges on policy making bodies, as it requires a strong capacity for regulating diversity throughout the policy making processes in real time.
W artykule prowadzona jest dyskusja nad wartościami i zasadami tzw. "zwinnego" zarządzania (AGILE methodologies) w kontekście polityki publicznej. Następuje próba odpowiedzi na pytanie o możliwość włączenia tych wartości i zasad do procesu realizacji polityki publicznej. Znane z sektora informatycznego metody przyciągają coraz większą uwagę praktyków zaangażowanych w prowadzenie polityki publicznej na świecie. Wydaje się, że podejście to ma dużą przewagę nad dotychczas stosowanymi metodami prowadzenia polityki publicznej, ponieważ pozwala na o wiele szybsze dostosowanie polityki do pojawiających się zmian otoczenia. Jednocześnie jednak, od instytucji prowadzących politykę publiczną w podejściu tym wymaga się na bieżąco silnej zdolności do regulowania zróżnicowania zachodzącego w trakcie realizacji polityki.

Zmiany obserwowane współcześnie pozwalają na konstatacje nie tylko w zakresie rozwoju efektów materialnych procesów gospodarczych, lecz także na polu zarządzania tymi procesami. Interesującą egzemplifikacją tych ostatnich zmian umożliwia spojrzenie na rozwój koncepcji Lean management i Agile management. Jako wspólną płaszczyznę przyjęto aspekt usieciowienia przedsiębiorstw. Przeprowadzone rozważania pozwalają przypuszczać, że rozwój organizacji stosujących koncepcję Agile jest powiązany ze wzrostem znaczenia relacji sieciowych, co z kolei traktować należy jako reakcję na wzrost niepewności w podejmowaniu decyzji. Jednocześnie usieciowienie nie może być rozpatrywane w kategoriach uniwersalnych. Przytoczono dane wskazujące, że konsolidacja aktywów w ramach korporacyjnych nadal odgrywa istotną rolę w procesie budowy przewagi strategicznej.
Changes observed today let statements not only in the range of economic processes material effects, but also on the field of those processes management. The look at Lean management and Agile management concepts improvement allows an interesting exemplification of mentioned changes. As the common basis, the network aspect has been assumed. The presented considerations lead to assumption, the development of organizations using the Agile management concept is connected with building – up network relations. Further, these relations are joined with the decision uncertainty growth. At the other side, network creating processes should not be treated as a universal category. There are data in this article, that the assets consolidation within corporation is still important to strategic advantage creation.

This paper presents a description of an agile testing process in a medium size software project that is developed using Scrum. The research methods used is the case study were as follows: surveys, quantifiable project data sources and qualitative project members opinions were used for data collection. Challenges related to the testing process regarding a complex project environment and unscheduled releases were identified. Based on the obtained results, we concluded that the described approach addresses well the aforementioned issues. Therefore, recommendations were made with regard to the employed principles of agility, specifically: continuous integration, responding to change, test automation and test driven development. Furthermore, an efficient testing environment that combines a number of test frameworks (e.g. JUnit, Selenium, Jersey Test) with custom-developed simulators is presented.

The article presents the impact of remote work, resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, on the functioning of Scrum teams. Attempts have been made to analyse the positive and negative aspects of remote work. The article also looks at the impact of remote work on the level of communication and efficiency of Scrum teams. For this purpose, the author conducted research on a sample of 40 organisations that declared to use Scrum methodology, using 187 questionnaires as the research material. The study was carried out at the turn of April and May 2021 and was carried out using the CAWI technique. The obtained results were analysed using the Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis methods, and enable defining a picture of an organisation's readiness to work remotely. In addition, they also allowed for an assessment of how the infrastructure used for remote work communication translates into the organisation of Sprint meetings. This paper presents conclusions aimed at counteracting the observed irregularities detected during the tests. At the end, the author proposes solutions that could improve communication within Scrum teams, with remote work in mind.

The article focuses on the issues of project control in Scrum methodology representing agile approach, in which control is based specifically on the daily meetings. Based on own experience and discussions with members of the Scrum development teams, in this study 19 core problems associated with daily meetings are identified and possible solutions are discussed. Then an environmental study is conducted to verify the classification of the problems and to determine the practical approach to daily meetings in IT companies. On the basis of the collected results, a brief assessment of the quality of daily meetings is provided, which depends on the Scrum team development stage.

Using agile methods during the implementation of the system that meets mission critical requirements can be a real challenge. The change in the system built of dozens or even hundreds of specialized devices with embedded software requires the cooperation of a large group of engineers. This article presents a solution that supports parallel work of groups of system analysts and software developers. Deployment of formal rules to the requirements written in natural language enables using formal analysis of artifacts being a bridge between software and system requirements. Formalism and textual form of requirements allowed the automatic generation of message flow graph for the (sub) system, called the “big-picture-model”. Flow diagram analysis helped to avoid a large number of defects whose repair cost in extreme cases could undermine the legitimacy of agile methods in projects of this scale. Retrospectively, a reduction of technical debt was observed. Continuous analysis of the “big picture model” improves the control of the quality parameters of the software architecture. The article also tries to explain why the commercial platform based on UML modeling language may not be sufficient in projects of this complexity.

A VUCA world (described with four attributes: volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) and the resulting need to implement changes continuously in almost every area of organisational activity have enhanced the awareness of organisations with regard to searching for skilful managers/leaders of change and building up competencies in change management amongst their staff. At the same time, however, quite a large proportion of changes fail. The paper aims to identify major challenges faced when implementing significant changes in an organisation using two case studies as an example. The first case study concerns a change to the Agile approach in an organisation’s operations, while the second one – the implementation of the Design Thinking concept in the work of project teams. The obtained results have become a starting point for more in-depth studies on change management focused in particular on factors contributing to organisational change success or failure and the role of individual stakeholders in the process.

Agile Project Management is a topic that has become popular both in business and academia, since the publication of the Agile Manifesto - a historic landmark in this subject. In the next 20 years, there was a relevant scientific production that must be analyzed to provoke reflection about the knowledge built up in this period. In this sense, this study aims to analyze the relevant scientific literature on Agile Project Management through a systematic review and a bibliometric analysis of articles published in scientific journals with Digital Object Identifier, in English, from the Web of Science and Scopus databases, from 2001 to 2021. The research results enable us to gain insights into the characteristics of this knowledge domain, regarding its volume and evolutionary trend, main contributors (i.e. scientific journals, authors, and their affiliations), main studies, methods used, and its central thematic axes.

Agile leadership requires self-reflection. The human image of the supervisors responsible in the com- pany is characterised by appreciation, openness and respect. Leaders create framework conditions and take care of the individual development of individual employees. Their know-how and mindset should be aligned with the agile leadership style. Dealing with the essential principles (change, trust, decisions, iterations, feedback, failure culture, communication) in everyday life does not happen as a matter of course. Agile leadership often fails because of its own self-efficacy and self-functionality. The belief in one‘s own influence to make a difference in difficult situations (self-efficacy) strengthens self -confidence. In complementary self-functionality, each team member works towards a higher goal. Team success is the focus. It requires a high level of self-leadership. Employees with this competence act independently and as part of the team towards the visions and goals of the organisation. Only when self-efficacy and self-leadership are successfully developed among managers and employees can agile leadership be successfully implemented in the company.

Poszukiwanie odpowiedzi na powyższe pytania przeprowadzono w oparciu o rozważania teoretyczne, metodologiczne oraz zebrany materiał empiryczny. Autorzy przedstawili model wspomagania twórczości organizacyjnej oraz do-świadczenia z realizacji takiego systemu z wykorzystaniem podejścia zwinnego.
The main purpose of the paper is presentation of theoretical and empirical discussion on implementation of agile approach in organizational creativity support design. It enables us to better understand dynamic nature of organizational creativity and its computer support. What is the issue of organizational creativity support and agile approach? How to use agile approach to develop organizational creativity support? Search for answers to these questions is mainly conducted on the theoretical, methodological as well as the empirical foundation. Finally, a framework for organizational creativity is proposed and lessons learned from organizational creativity support development are drawn.

The aim of the article is to formalize the authors' model of ABPM (Agile Business Process Management), dedicated to re-orienting the traditional process organization towards constructing adaptive, minimalistic process models, taking into consideration the Agile methods of workflow software development and long-term life-cycles of infrastructure connected with IT processes. The article proposes the areas, in which to implement the elements of Agile methodology in the classical Deming cycle. It also summarizes experience to-date with regard to the role of human capital in performing business strategies according to the ABPM model.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to analyse the risk management process in IT projects managed using the agile methods. Design/methodology/approach: The research was conducted through in-depth structured interviews on a sample of 111 project managers, leaders and project team members. Findings: In the conducted research, attention was paid to the identification of risk factors, their assessment during project planning, management of key risk factors and the importance of risk analysis for project success. The test results were compared with a critical analysis of the literature on the subject of research. Originality/value: The results of a survey of company heads become input information for the analysis, which allowed to confirm theoretical knowledge with the practical experience of company heads and emphasize the importance of the human factor in the risk management.

Powszechnemu mniemaniu o „wysysaniu” aglomeracji lokalnych przez makroregionalne metropolie można przeciwstawić dość liczne przykłady aglomeracji z powodzeniem wykorzystujących swoją specyfikę odrębności oraz rozwojowej, lokalnej inwencji. Aglomeracje lokalne zaliczyć można do kategorii pojęciowej systemów makroergonomicznych. Tworzenie własnej specyfiki odrębności inicjatyw rozwojowych aglomeracji lokalnej polega na poszukiwaniu rozwiązań, kreujących wysoką wartość inicjatywy przy niskich jej kosztach społecznych, ekonomicznych i biologicznych. Uwarunkowaniem lokalnej inicjatywności może być model szukania rozwojowej okazji bazujący na koncepcji zwinnego zarządzania. Złożoność lokalnych inicjatyw rozwojowych, związana z losowym charakterem sekwencji wejść procesów składowych do całości przedsięwzięcia, zwykle wymusza odejście od klasyki kalkulacyjnej sterowania projektem i podjęcie symulacyjnych prób testowania koncepcji i polityk operacyjnych, opartych na cyklu PDCA Deminga.
The common belief that macro-regional metropolitan areas are “sapping” the local communities in the agglomeration can be contrasted with numerous examples of communities successfully exploiting their own separate identity and growing local creativity. Local communities can be categorized as macroergonomic systems. Creating a separate identity of local communities’ development initiatives rests on searching for solutions that will bring maximum value to the community at the lowest possible economic, social and biological cost. One of the conditions of local initiatives can be a model of searching for development opportunities based on an agile management concept. The complexity of local development initiatives, associated with the random character of the sequence of input processes to the whole project, usually forces a departure from the classical calculating project control and instead performing simulations to test the concept and the operational policies based on the Deming Cycle.

Jest on oparty na ankiecie, którą wypełniają osoby zaangażowane w różnych rolach w realizację projektów informatycznych wykorzystujących podejście Scrum.
In the paper, a survey of maturity models known in the literature is conducted. A new model for the Scrum approach is proposed. The model will allow each organisation to evaluate quantitatively and qualitatively the degree of maturity of the Scrum implementation in individual projects and in the whole organisation. The model is based on a questionnaire filled in by persons playing different roles in IT projects using the Scrum approach.

Obserwacja rynku nie pozostawia wątpliwości, że zwinne metodyki zarządzania projektami napotykają na szereg trudności, ograniczeń i barier. Mają one wpływ zarówno na wybór metodyki, jak również na ostateczny sukces projektu. Dotyczy to w szczególności rozwiązań realizowanych w sektorze publicznym. Artykuł jest próbą charakteryzacji i usystematyzowania przyczyn tych ograniczeń i pokazuje szczególnie istotne bariery z perspektywy prawnej i organizacyjnej. Badania własne, analiza źródeł wtórnych, a także wielu projektów wdrożeń w branży pozwoliły na identyfikację kluczowych rekomendacji w zakresie koniecznych zmian.
The agile methods are becoming increasingly popular in IT project management worldwide. The character of the implemented projects makes this approach more and more favored among both clients and solution providers. An examination of the market reveals that agile project management faces different problems, limitations and barriers that influence the choice of given methodology and condition the successful delivery of projects, especially in the public sector. The article attempts to characterize and systematize the reasons for such limitations and to indicate major obstacles to the implementation from legal and organizational perspective. The own research, analysis of secondary sources, as well as numerous implementation projects in the field allowed for the formulation of key recommendations for necessary changes.

Background: Estimating the effort required for software engineering tasks is incredibly tricky, but it is critical for project planning. Issue reports are frequently used in the agile community to describe tasks, and story points are used to estimate task effort. Aim: This paper proposes a machine learning regression model for estimating the number of story points needed to solve a task. The system can be trained from raw input data to predict outcomes without the need for manual feature engineering. Method: Hierarchical attention networks are used in the proposed model. It has two levels of attention mechanisms implemented at word and sentence levels. The model gradually constructs a document vector by grouping significant words into sentence vectors and then merging significant sentence vectors to create document vectors. Then, the document vectors are fed into a shallow neural network to predict the story point. Results: The experiments show that the proposed approach outperforms the state-of-the-art technique Deep-S which uses Recurrent Highway Networks. The proposed model has improved Mean Absolute Error (MAE) by an average of 16.6% and has improved Median Absolute Error (MdAE) by an average of 53%. Conclusion: An empirical evaluation shows that the proposed approach outperforms the previous work.

Kluczowym elementem zarządzania projektami we współczesnym, turbulentnym otoczeniu jest zmiana. Jako skomplikowany proces zachodzący na wielu płaszczyznach organizacji prowadzi do wzrostu niepewności i chaosu. Istotę zmiany w projektach doskonale odzwierciedlają metodyki zwinne. Z kolei w tradycyjnym metodycznym zarządzaniu projektami zauważa się potrzebę wprowadzenia systemowego, uporządkowanego i czytelnego podejścia do zarządzania zmianą. W artykule postulowane jest rozwiązanie integrujące procesy wspomagające zarządzanie zmianą w innowacyjnych projektach, szczególnie w zakresie rozwoju nowych produktów, z aspektami łączącymi modele zwinne i kaskadowe. Przedstawiono opis badań dotyczących analizy sposobów rozwoju i wdrażania innowacji produktowych w polskim sektorze MŚP ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem modeli PMLC. Ze względu na obszerność prowadzonych badań, w pracy zaprezentowane zostały cząstkowe wyniki i wnioski uzyskane w ramach jednego z poruszanych obszarów na temat zwinności w zarządzaniu projektami rozwoju nowych produktów.
The key element of the innovation project management in today's turbulent environment is change. As a complex process that takes place on many levels of an organization, it leads to a growth of uncertainty and chaos. The essence of the project changes is perfectly reflected by the agile project management. Subsequently, in the traditional methodical project management, a need for an introduction of systematic, structured and legible approach in change management is beheld. The paper focuses on solution that integrates processes supporting the change management in innovation projects, especially around the new product development (NPD), with aspects combining agile and waterfall models. The research section presents a study describing the analysis of the ways of developing and implementing product innovations in the Polish SME sector with particular emphasis on the PMLC models. Due to the extense of the conducted research, the paper presents only partial results and conclusions obtained from one of the issues regarding agility in a NPD project management.

The aim of the study was to analyze the impact of technical debt on projects goals achievement, considered from the perspective of software developing teams. The investigations are addressed to technical debt accumulation, difficulties related to its service and repaying. The most important stakeholders are identified on which the dechnical debt has an impact or which influence the technical debt accumulation. An interesting issue was to look at the debt from the inside in order to obtain views of members of the software developing teams. In order to obtain all the necessary information, a survey is conducted referred to the members of the software developing teams. The responses obtained from the survey concerns types of technical debt encountered, attitude, knowledge and approach to the debt. The article also shows that the lack of knowledge and awareness related to technical debt in teams affects the technical debt growth. The paper provides, based on SWOT analysis, solutions proposals that are designed to prevent dangerous situations resulting from technical debt.

Scharakteryzowano zasady i praktyki oraz cykl życia projektu produkcji oprogramowania w podejściu adaptacyjnym. Artykuł zakończono omówieniem istoty podejścia zwinnego do zarządzania projektami wytwarzania oprogramowania na przykładzie metodyki ATERN.
The article is an attempt to compare the traditional and agile approach to software development projects. In the introduction they discussed the basic concepts concerning the context in which the software development projects are being carried out. They presented the differences between the traditional and agile approach to software development projects and they briefly characterized the new software development project management methodologies. Next they focused on the adaptive approach for IT project management based on the Agile Manifesto. They characterized principles and practices as well as software development project life cycle for the adaptive (agile) approach. The article was finished with discussing the essence of the agile approach to software development projects management on the example of the ATERN methodology.

An attempt has been made to propose a new approach to media management. Its starting point is the similarity of the main media and its management features, with some elements of agile methodologies. The approach mentioned in the article would eradicate all of the documentation, and make media management as genuine and effective as possible. The proposal within the article is not yet created as a methodology because the aim of this publication was to show the current possibilities in creating such foundations for the future possible methodology implemented inside the media management scheme. The invitation of all specialists in the field of project management, Agile, and traditional project management approaches would be greatly appreciated. The need of an in-depth analysis of how an agile approach can be applied in such a relatively young industry is still plausible. In sum, there are numerous agile tools that can be adopted in media management. The first proposal of media management has been already published by independent researchers, yet this work should be done primarily in the form of more detailfocused and thorough analysis.
Artykuł dotyczy zarządzania mediami, dlatego odpowiednio zaprezentowano próbę możliwego podejścia opartego na zwinnych metodologiach zarządzania projektami. Artykuł przedstawia kolejno media i zarządzanie nimi (przegląd literatury), charakterystykę projektów medialnych, zwinne zarządzanie projektami, analizę zwinnego podejścia i zarządzania mediami wraz z propozycją nowego pomysłu, jakim jest zwinne zarządzanie mediami (Agile Media Management) oraz wnioski. Poniższe wyniki podkreślają istotną potrzebę przyjrzenia się tej idei w ramach ważnego badania empirycznego oraz dalszego kierunku badań.

Aim/purpose – The research aims to identify and evaluate factors impacting the implementation of an agile approach in a crowdfunding project with a goal to fund a film. Design/methodology/approach – The research was conducted in March-April 2018, and based on qualitative methods of gathering data from the Polish market. Findings – We point to the two groups of factors impacting whether or not a film team can implement the agile approach in a crowdfunding project: 1) the first group of factors refers to the iterative testing of ‘the work produced’ during the project, including testing of final film elements; 2) the second group of factors refers to team management such as team goal, team engagement and communication, and conflicts between team members. The findings indicate that a potential transition to the agile approach would require significant adjustments of the current methods of conducting film projects.

The article discusses issues related to agile enterprise management, in particular, the aspects related to the opportunities resulting from the implementation of various types of innovations. The main aim of the article was to present the innovations implemented by a selected company in the railroad sector to determine their impact on the possibility of opportunity creation. An in-depth analysis of the literature related to theoretical issues was presented, as well as a description of specific scientific cases for which the implementation of innovations resulted in the emergence of opportunities, which led to different types of enterprise profits. In order to achieve the main goal, it was necessary to present the functioning of a selected railway construction company over several years showing revenues and profits. It was important to indicate innovations in individual years and their impact on the company's operations, and in particular on the emergence of opportunities. As part of the case study, a subjective scale was developed to assess the level of innovation. In this way, the aspect of creating opportunities was related to the innovations implemented, which translated into profits for the company. In addition to the above, the limitations and further directions of research are comprehensively described. The most important conclusion of the work is that it confirms the creation of opportunities resulting from investing in innovative solutions in enterprise management.
W artykule omówiono zagadnienia związane ze sprawnym zarządzaniem przedsiębiorstwem, w szczególności aspekty związane z okazjami wynikającymi z wdrażania różnego rodzaju innowacji. Głównym celem artykułu było przedstawienie innowacji wdrożonych przez wybrane przedsiębiorstwo z branży kolejowej w celu określenia ich wpływu na możliwość prokurowania okazji. Przedstawiono dogłębną analizę literatury związanej z zagadnieniami teoretycznymi, a także opis konkretnych przypadków, dla których wdrożenie innowacji skutkowało pojawieniem się okazji, które doprowadziły do różnego rodzaju zysków przedsiębiorstwa. W pracy przedstawiono funkcjonowanie wybranego przedsiębiorstwa budownictwa kolejowego na przestrzeni kilku lat, pokazując jego przychody i zyski. Istotne było wskazanie innowacji w poszczególnych latach i ich wpływu na działalność przedsiębiorstwa, a zwłaszcza na pojawianie się okazji. Na podstawie studium przypadku opracowano subiektywną skalę oceny poziomu innowacyjności. W ten sposób aspekt tworzenia okazji został odniesiony do wdrożonych innowacji, które przełożyły się na zyski w firmie. Oprócz tego kompleksowo opisano ograniczenia i dalsze kierunki badań. Najważniejszym wnioskiem płynącym z pracy jest potwierdzenie, że kreowanie okazji wynika z inwestowania w innowacyjne rozwiązania w zarządzaniu przedsiębiorstwem.

Planowanie projektu to nie tylko określenie czynności, które należy wykonać i ich ustrukturyzowanie, ale również identyfikacja czynników ryzyka, mogących mieć wpływ na przebieg projektu. W artykule omówiono procesy zarządzania ryzykiem w ramach metodyk tradycyjnych (klasycznych) oraz zwinnych (agile) w zarządzaniu projektami, zarówno w podejściu lekkim, jak i twardym. Ponadto przedstawiono rekomendacje dalszych badań, dotyczących opracowania odpowiednich procesów zarządzania ryzykiem dla projektów zarządzanych zwinnie.
Project planning is not only to determine the activities which have to be performed and structurized, but also to identify risk factors that may have an impact on progress of the project. The article discusses the risk management processes in project management methods within the traditional and agile, both in the approach of light and space. Furthermore recommendations for further studies on the development of appropriate risk management processes for projects managed agile are given.

W artykule zostały przedstawione wyniki badań dotyczące skuteczności wdrażania zwinnych metodyk w ramach realizowanych projektów przez wybrane grupy studentów technicznych. Została opisana zastosowana gra symulacyjna, która pozwoliła na praktyczne zapoznanie się z zasadami podejścia Scrum. Przedstawiono również propozycję praktycznej adaptacji podejścia zwinnego do realiów projektów studenckich z uwzględnieniem specyfiki i ograniczeń czasowych.
The paper presents the results of research on effectiveness of agile methods implementation within projects carried out by selected IT student groups. Simulation game was applied for groups under research, which helped subjects to experience Scrum rules in practice. We present the results of the game and the proposal for practical adaptation of agile approach into student projects taking into consideration their specifics and time constraints.

The article deals with the analysis and assessment of lean strategy as well as of Six Sigma and the Theory of Constraints applied in effective supply chain management. These concepts were found mutually complementary. Agile strategy, as well as its comparative assessment with lean strategy, were analyzed. Agile strategy's aspects of development in reactive supply chain management were discussed. Three kinds of supply chain processes and the corresponding strategies such as lean, agile and lean-agile were singled out. The article established that effective and efficient supply chain management based on agile strategy is conditioned by the preceding both geographically and chronologically lean processes implementation.

The main goal of this article is theoretical overview regarding the impact of the human factor, the project team on the development of project risks in agile project management. The article presents the basic processes of risk management and discusses the main risk factors. It also identifies factors arising directly from stakeholders and operation of the project team and reference them to the results of The Standish Group’s in Chaos Manifesto Report.

The problem of sequencing jobs on a single machine to minimize total cost (earliness and tardiness) is nowadays not just important due to traditional concerns but also due to its importance in the context of Collaborative Networked Organizations and Virtual Enterprises, where precision about promptly responses to customers’ requests, along with other important requirements, assume a crucial role. In order to provide a contribution in this direction, in this paper the authors contribute with an applied constructive heuristics that tries to find appropriate solutions for single machine scheduling problems under different processing times and due dates, and without preemption allowed. In this paper, two different approaches for single-machine scheduling problems, based on external and internal performance measures are applied to the problem and a comparative analysis is performed. Computational results are presented for the problem under Just-in-Time and agile conditions on which each job has a due date, and the objective is to minimize the sum of holding costs for jobs completed before their due date and tardiness costs for jobs completed after their due date. Additional computational tests were developed based on different customer and enterprise oriented performance criteria, although preference is given to customer-oriented measures, namely the total number of tardy jobs and the maximum tardiness.

Artykuł przedstawia porównanie pod względem wymagań sprzętowych aplikacji wspierających wprowadzanie metodyk zwinnych do procesu wytwarzania oprogramowania. Przedmiotem badań były popularne aplikacje mobilne i internetowe wspomagające procesy Agile w przedsiębiorstwach. W celu określenia znaczenia poszczególnych wymagań technicznych dla użytkowników, przeprowadzono serię eksperymentów badawczych opartych na scenariuszach typowego i brzegowego użytkowania badanych systemów. Na potrzeby przeprowadzonej analizy została dodatkowo opracowana aplikacja wspierająca proces zwinnego wytwarzania oprogramowania. Wyniki pomiarów były rejestrowane za pomocą specjalistycznych narzędzi monitorujących pracę systemu i profilujących działanie przeglądarki internetowej. Rezultaty prac badawczych przedstawiono w formie tabel.
The article presents a comparison in terms of hardware requirements of applications that supports the agile software development processes. For research purposes, popular mobile and internet applications supporting agile software development were chosen. In order to determine the significance of individual technical requirements for end-users, a series of research experiments, based on scenarios of typical and boundary use was conducted. In addition to research, the application supporting agile software development process was implemented. The results of research were recorded by specialized monitoring and profiling tools. The results of performed work are presented in tabular form.

Wskazano cechy i mechanizmy kształtowania jego struktury wewnętrznej, a także przedstawiono prezentowane w literaturze przedmiotu charakterystyczne i uznane modele kształtowania zwinnego przedsiębiorstwa. Publikacja ma charakter rozważań teoretycznych, prowadzących do strukturyzacji i systematyzacji omawianej problematyki.
Enterprises, wishing to rival successfully in the unpredictable market, must adjust their structure and operational rules to the incessant uncertainty, transient opportunities and nonstandard behaviour of competitors. This can be achieved by the concept of an agile enterprise which, given the specific character of its internal resources and reactivity to environmental factors, is sensitive and capable of making a quick identification of opportunities in order to use them to effect its own growth and development. The present publication contains the sources of concepts of an agile enterprise along with the description of characteristics and mechanisms which shape its internal structure. There is also an overview of typical and recognized models of shaping an agile enterprise which are presented in the source literature. The publication is a theoretical consideration leading to the structurization and systematization of the discussed issue.

Eksperyment przeprowadzono wspólnie z zewnętrzną firmą, pracującą według zwinnej metodyki wytwórczej.
Developers working according to agile methodologies are very happy to implement design patterns in their work. They often do so based solely on their own experience, which does not take into account the additional benefits that can be expected from implementing patterns. The purpose of the article is to present the mileage and results of verification of the method of assesment design patterns in production. The experiment was conducted jointly with an external company, working according to a agile manufacturing methodology.

W artykule omówiono zarówno czynniki ryzyka wynikające bezpośrednio ze specyfikacji projektów informatycznych, a także interesariuszy oraz zespołu projektowego.
Software companies are a typical industry, which uses the project management and the concept of working in teams. Functioning of these teams is the dominant organization form of work of programmers, resulting in a realized complex, innovative projects burdened with a high degree of risk. The main goal of this article is theoretical overview regarding the impact of the functioning of project teams in agile project management on the risk of the project. The article discusses both the risks arising directly from the specification of projects, but also the stakeholders and the project team.

W artykule przeanalizowano możliwość zastosowania zwinnej praktyki (agile practice) w modelu wspólnie opracowanego systemu dla planowania zasobów przedsiębiorstwa (CD-ERP). Model ten został zaproponowany jako rozwiązanie służące rozwojowi systemów informatycznych (IS) dla publicznych uczelni w Libii (LHE) zgodnie z paradygmatem społecznościowym i opartym na ERP. Badanie odbyło się w latach 2016-2020. W artykule omówiono możliwy wpływ i sukces wdrożenia zwinnej praktyki w takim środowisku. Opisano podejście hybrydowe obejmujące zwinną praktykę i metodę predykcyjną. Ryzyko i wyzwania związane z przyjęciem modelu CD-ERP omówiono, analizując mocne strony, słabe strony, szanse i zagrożenia (SWOT). Na koniec przedstawiono wyciągnięte wnioski, zalecenia i kierunki przyszłych prac.

In this paper the relationship between a certain type of competitive conditions and the desired adjustment of company’s activities is identified and characterised, followed by reconstruction of contemporary conditions of competition and a proposal of business activities best suited to these conditions. As global economy is currently dominated by so-called occasional competitive advantage, companies should implement an agile business behaviour. The conception of an agile company is a new paradigm in business management.
Artykuł zawiera identyfikację i charakterystykę relacji między typem warunków konkurowania a pożądanym dostosowaniem działalności przedsiębiorstwa oraz rekonstrukcję współczesnych uwarunkowań konkurowania i wskazanie najlepiej do nich dostosowanych zachowań biznesowych. Tak zwana okazjonalna przewaga konkurencyjna dominuje we współczesnej gospodarce globalnej. Przedsiębiorstwa powinny zatem wdrożyć zwinne zachowania biznesowe. Koncepcja zwinnego przedsiębiorstwa jest nowym paradygmatem w zarządzaniu.

W artykule przedstawiono zarys koncepcji zwinnego zarządzania projektami (ang. Agile Project Management) w odniesieniu do podejścia sekwencyjnego (ang. Waterfall). Zwrócono uwagę na cechy charakterystyczne, jakie powinny mieć projekty, realizowane na podstawie metodyki Agile. Zaproponowano kryteria oceny projektów, niezbędne dla rekomendacji zastosowania zwinnego podejścia w projektach badawczych.
In the article, the concept of Agile Project Management is outlined in comparison to the Waterfall approach. The key characteristics of projects managed using the Agile method are highlighted. Criterions for the assessment of projects are proposed in order to recommend the application of the Agile method in research projects.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to present the results of research aimed at identifying the most frequent risk factors of IT projects managed using the agile approach to project management. Design/methodology/approach: The research was conducted by means of in-depth structured interviews, on a sample of 111 project managers, leaders and project team members. The research included identification of risk factors and their assessment during project planning, as well as the most frequent risk factors in an agile-managed project. Findings: While carrying out a critical analysis of the literature, it can be observed that in the majority of publications concerning risk in projects managed in the agile way, the human factor is strongly underestimated, often excessively favouring procedures. However, when analysing the risk factors arising in IT projects managed in the agile way, except for the technology, equipment, system, or even the project schedule and cost, the project team is strongly accentuated. Research limitations/implications: The article presented recommendations to conduct supplementary research concerning the assessment of risk factors directly resulting from the specific nature of IT projects and the application of agile methodology to project management in terms of project team work organisation as well as potential project stakeholder groups. Originality/value: Software companies are one of the typical industries in which project management and the concept of teamwork are applied and the functioning of these teams is the dominant form of work organisation.

With expanding local, national, and international markets and changing customer expectations, enterprises are faced with the need to implement solutions to compete effectively. It is expected that agile management allows enterprises to achieve this objective. Therefore, many organizations, including those in the food sector, are taking advantage of agile management solutions and see changes in consumer behavior as an opportunity for growth. The present study has a theoretical and empirical character. The basis of the theoretical considerations is a critical analysis of the scientific literature on the concept of agility and its relevance to organizations. The diversity of perspectives on the problems of agility, highlighted in many publications, provided the basis for identifying a research gap and formulating a research objective and conducting an empirical study. The study describes the agile management of enterprises, indicates the characteristics and mechanisms applicable to organic food production, and characterizes organic food processing enterprises in Poland. The survey was conducted in 2021-2022 and allowed the authors to analyze the location, size, type of production, or capital in the enterprises. This was possible with a properly designed questionnaire and statistical analysis.

In this paper is presented the general idea of the industrial revolution which is called Industry 4.0. The main assumptions and an analysis of the laser use and requirements of lasers for flexible and agile production are presented. Examples of the different technological possibilities when lasers are joined with other machines and IT systems are described.
W pracy przedstawiono ogólną koncepcję rewolucji przemysłowej nazywanej „Przemysł 4.0”. Opisano jej podstawowe założenia oraz przeanalizowano zastosowania laserów w kontekście wymagań elastycznej i zwinnej produkcji. Przedstawiono przykład różnorodnych możliwości technologicznych, jakie dają lasery wspomagane innymi obrabiarkami oraz systemami informatycznymi.

The article presents increasingly popular agile methodologies that are more and more often used for projects management of software development. The aim of this article is to analyze the concept of agility and agile methodologies, as well as to find an answer to the question when it is worth to use such methodologies which require organizational effort associated with their use, acquisition of the necessary skills and covering the necessary costs. We consider agile methodologies as the specific project management methodologies in software development. Therefore the article describes their role in the development of agile IT infrastructure, agile organizational culture, and issues related to the possibility of assessing the level of methodologies' agility, as well as the possibility of evaluation the purposefulness and benefits of using them in software development practice.

W niniejszym rozdziale przedstawiono wybrane metody zarządzania projektem technologicznym. Współczesna globalizacja otwiera przed przedsiębiorstwami zarówno wiele możliwości, jak i zagrożeń. Pod pojęciem „innowacyjności” rozumie się wdrażanie, opracowywanie, a także opatentowanie rozwiązań oraz działań skierowanych na szeroko rozumiany rozwój przedsiębiorstwa. W poszukiwaniu odpowiedniej metodyki wdrażania nowej technologii pojawiają się zatem metody konwencjonalne (określane także mianem tradycyjnych) oraz niekonwencjonalne (określane także mianem nowatorskich). Kluczowym aspektem niniejszego rozdziału jest krótka charakterystyka każdego z pojęć, a także przedstawienie najciekawszych, zdaniem autorek, metod wdrożeniowych.
This chapter presents selected methods of technological project management. Contemporary globalization brings many opportunities but also many threats, making it essential for companies to be innovative. Innovation refers to the implementation, development, and patenting of solutions and actions aimed at the broad development of the company. In search of the appropriate methodology for implementing new technology, conventional methods (also known as traditional) and unconventional methods (also known as innovative) emerge. The key aspect of this chapter is to briefly characterize each concept and present the most interesting implementation methods according to the authors.

The main aim of the article is to improve the website development process by using the Agile Development Toolkit: Lean Software Development which is developed from the combination of Lean and Agile principles and the theory of waste elimination from the Toyota Production System. This article explains the definitions of the kinds of wastes that are generated during the website development process within an IT Company and generally in SMEs in India and by taking preventive steps, improving the process by eliminating generated waste. The main aim of the research is to use Lean Software Development, a toolkit of Agile Development, that can be implemented within IT SMEs to overcome wastes. This article focuses on finding root causes of problems within the website development process and applying principles of Lean Software Development to remove those problems and accelerate the website development process. Another analysis was performed to show which principles of Lean Development and Agile Development can be correlated if a website/software is developed using any of these two development methodologies, and not specifically Lean Software Development.
Głównym celem artykułu jest usprawnienie procesu tworzenia stron internetowych za pomocą zestawu narzędzi programistycznych Agile: Lean Software Development, który został opracowany przez Toyota Production System na podstawie powiązań Lean i Agile oraz teorii eliminacji strat. Wyjaśniono w nim definicje rodzajów strat generowanych w procesie tworzenia strony internetowej w firmie informatycznej i ogólnie w małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach w Indiach, jak również podjęto kroki zapobiegawcze, ulepszając proces i eliminując straty. Głównym celem badań jest wykorzystanie Lean Software Development - zestawu narzędzi Agile Development, które można wdrożyć w małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach IT w celu wyeliminowania strat. W artykule przedstawiono sposób usunięcia omawianych problemów i przyspieszenia procesu tworzenia strony internetowej przez wykrycie przyczyn tych problemów i z zastosowaniem zasady Lean Software Development. Kolejną analizę przeprowadzono, aby wskazać, które zasady Lean Development i Agile Development mogą być skorelowane, jeśli strona internetowa / oprogramowanie są rozwijane z użyciem którejkolwiek z tych dwóch metod.

Przedsiębiorstwa ze względu na złożoność działań oraz ich powtarzalność mają do czynienia z czterema podstawowymi typami procesów: improwizowane, rutynowe, funkcje i przedsięwzięcia. Metody zarządzania działaniami są udoskonalane od wielu dekad. Szczególnie mocno rozwijają się metody zarządzania przedsięwzięciami, a w ostatnich latach promowane jest nowe podejście do zarządzania projektami nazywane zwinnym (Agile). Obecnie bardzo popularną na polskim rynku metodą zwinną jest SCRUM, która wpisuje się w Manifest Agile. Twórcy metody twierdzą, że zwinne zarządzanie projektami może być wykorzystywane do wytwarzania każdego typu produktu nie tylko oprogramowania komputerowego. Może to być produkt materialny (wyrób) lub niematerialny (usługa). Celem artykułu jest analiza rozwoju metod zarządzania projektami (w tym metod zwinnych) oraz wskazanie obszarów działalności operacyjnej przedsiębiorstwa, które mogą podnieść swoją efektywność dzięki zwinnemu podejściu w zarządzaniu projektami.
The aim of the article is to study the development of project management methods including agile methods and to identify enterprise operating areas where efficiency can be improved by applying agile approach. Individual chapters of this work discuss the development of project management methods, especially SCRUM method as an example of agile methods, and also the general concept of using agile approach to operations management has been presented based on the BKF company experience.

The paper is focused on conditions, process and results of the organizational change due to the introduction of new project management methodology. After literature review, the multiple case study of the ICT companies implementing new agile project management methodology is being presented. As the results show, the change of the project management methodology might affect the project success in large and complex ICT projects. Moreover, it might lead to the organizational transformation in technology, methodology, processes, strategy, organization and organizational culture extending competitive advantage of the organization.
Celem pracy jest pokazanie uwarunkowań, przebiegu oraz skutków zmian organizacyjnych wynikających z wprowadzenia nowej metodyki zarządzania projektami. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań własnych w postaci wielokrotnego studium przypadku przedsiębiorstw sektora teleinformatyki wprowadzających nową zwinną metodykę zarządzania projektami. Jak wykazano w badaniach, zmiana metodyki zarządzania projektami może prowadzić zarówno do zwiększenia szans na sukces dużych i złożonych projektów informatycznych oraz teleinformatycznych, jak i do transformacji przedsiębiorstwa, rozumianej jako szereg gruntownych zmian w obszarach technologicznym, metodycznym, procesowym, strategicznym, organizacyjnym i kulturowym, zorientowanych na zwiększenie przewagi konkurencyjnej.

W artykule opisano próbę analizy zasadności wykorzystania informatycznych narzędzi wspierających zwinne zarządzanie projektami oraz określenia modelowych cech, którymi powinno charakteryzować się takie oprogramowanie, aby zaspokoić oczekiwania konkretnych członków zespołów projektowych w każdej fazie ich realizacji (koncepcyjnej, planowania, produkcji, testowania w fazie operacyjnej). Rozważania prowadzono, opierając się na wynikach pogłębionych wywiadów, przeprowadzonych wśród członków zespołów projektowych realizujących zadania w sektorze inżynierii oprogramowania.
In this paper we described an attempt of the analysis the legitimacy of the use of tools to support project management and to determine the characteristics of the model, which should have the tools to meet the needs of post-specific members project teams at every level of implementation (planning, design, production, testing and management). The data we used was collected by in-depth interviews conducted with members of the software engineering project teams.

The aim of this paper is to present how the new organization models are both an anticipation and a reflection of the predicted post-capitalistic society. The author will analyze changes in the socio-economic structure, presented by such theorists as Daniel Bell, Peter Drucker, Richard Florida, and others. The paper will also present the rise of a new social class – the creative class (and also generatio Y). The author will show how these changes are interconnected with the newest managerial concepts. The focus will be put on currently the 3 most widespread new organizational models – agile development, holacracy and squads (Spotify model). The author will try to answer the question, whether these or similar models shape the positive social changes, or just the passive tools the a bigger system.

Projekty stanowią jeden z istotniejszych zakresów działalności wielu organizacji, szczególnie projekty z obszaru bezpieczeństwa i obronności państwa, które są podstawowym źródłem rozwoju technologii mających wpływ na nasze bezpieczeństwo. Projekty wpływają na rozwój sektora bezpieczeństwa państwa oraz powiązanego z nim sektora prywatnego. Podnoszone bezpieczeństwo jest jedną z ważniejszych wartości dla każdego państwa, stąd środki finansowe przeznaczane na jego utrzymanie są znaczne. Przekłada się to na innowacje, rozwój, a także badania wykonywane w ramach omawianych projektów. Obecnie istnieje konieczność szerszego podejścia do realizacji projektów, szczególnie zarządzania nimi. Znaczenie stosowanych metodyk zarządzania projektami stale rośnie, gdyż bezpieczeństwo realizacji projektu, a także prawidłowość wydatkowania środków, ma istotne znaczenie dla instytucji finansujących oraz zamawiających. Wraz z finansowaniem projektów pojawiły się zagrożenia i nieprawidłowości w ich realizacji. Projekty dają wiele perspektyw, dzięki którym możliwe jest odmienne podejście do zarządzania działalnością danej organizacji. W wielu instytucjach sposób organizacji ich działań zaczyna się przekształcać w projektowy, ukierunkowany na złożone i szczególne przedsięwzięcia jakim są projekty. Zarządzanie projektami odgrywa ważną, a wręcz kluczową rolę w strategii działania współczesnych organizacji. Metodyki zarządzania projektami pozwalają zaś na usprawnienie realizacji projektów, w tym przedsięwzięć podejmowanych w ramach ich realizacji. W związku z dużą liczbą dostępnych metodyk zarządzania projektami, wybór odpowiedniej metodyki, uniwersalnego rozwiązania dostosowanego do danej instytucji, może być trudny. Zdarza się, że daną metodykę należy dostosować do indywidualnych potrzeb projektowych instytucji. W artykule podjęto charakterystykę najbardziej uniwersalnych metodyk zarządzania projektami, tych najczęściej wykorzystywanych. Uwagę skupiono na projektach z zakresu bezpieczeństwa i obronności państwa, gdyż celem opracowania jest wskazanie najbardziej adekwatnej metodyki zarządzania w tak szczególnym obszarze, jakim jest bezpieczeństwo. Zatem podjęta w artykule analiza różnych metodyk zarządzania projektami dała podstawę do wskazanie jednej, zalecanej przez autorów metodyki zarządzania w projektach z obszaru bezpieczeństwa i obronności państwa.
Projects are one of the most important areas of activity of many organizations, especially projects in the area of State security and defense, being the basic source of development of technologies affecting our security. Projects affect the development of the state security sector and the private sector associated with it. Security is one of the most important values for each country, hence the financial resources allocated for its maintenance are considerable. This means innovation, development, as well as research carried out under the aforementioned projects. Currently, there is a need for a wider approach to the implementation of projects, especially their management. The importance of applied project management methodologies is constantly growing, as the safety of project implementation, as well as the correctness of spending funds, is of great importance for financing institutions and contracting authorities. Along with the project financing, the risks and irregularities in their implementation have appeared. Projects offer many perspectives, thanks to which a different approach to the management of any organization’s activity is possible. In many institutions the way in which their activities are organized begins to be transformed into a project-oriented one, focused on complex and specific activities such as projects. Project management plays an important and even key role in the strategy of modern organizations. Project management methodologies allow for streamlining the implementation of the projects, including projects undertaken as part of their implementation. Due to the large number of available project man agement methodologies, the choice of a suitable methodology, a universal solution tailored to a given institution, can be difficult. It happens that a given methodology should be adapted to the individual needs of an institution. The article describes the most universal project management methodologies, the most commonly used ones. Attention was focused on the projects in the field of security and defense of the state, because the aim of the study is to indicate the most adequate management methodology in such a special area of security. Therefore, the analysis of various project management methodologies contained herein, gave the basis for indicating one, recommended by the authors, management methodology in projects in the area of security and defense of the state.

W toku rozważań zdefiniowano cztery główne pytania badawcze, dotyczące wydajności pracy zdalnej w scrum, stopnia skomplikowania prowadzonych w ten sposób projektów oraz dostrzeganych przez respondentów korzyści i zagrożeń wynikających z realizacji projektów zgodnie z metodyką scrum w porównaniu z pracą zdalną. W badaniu posłużono się metodą ankietową i zastosowano technikę ankiety internetowej. Dobór respondentów do badań był celowy ze względu na ich miejsce zatrudnienia – branża IT. Praca zdalna przy realizacji projektów informatycznych niesie ze sobą według respondentów wymierne korzyści w postaci komunikacji asynchronicznej, lepszej wydajności oraz zwiększonej odpowiedzialności za wykonywaną pracę. Z kolei największe zagrożenie to liczba i długość spotkań.
in a remote work environment. The research problem concerns the assessment of remote work in projects conducted using the Scrum methodology. Four main research questions were asked regarding the effectiveness of remote work in Scrum, the complexity of projects conducted in this way, and the benefits and threats of implementing projects using the Scrum methodology and remote work noticed by the respondents. The survey method was chosen as the research method and the online survey technique was used. The selection of respondents for the research was purposeful due to their place of employment, i.e. the IT industry. According to the respondents, remote work while implementing IT projects brings the most important benefits in the form of asynchronous communication, better efficiency, and increased responsibility for the work performed. In turn, the greatest challenge is the number and length of meetings.

Artykuł podsumowuje metody rozwoju oprogramowania krytycznego dla bezpieczeństwa, oraz wpływ standardu DO-178C na potencjalne zastosowanie metod zwinnych. Wyjaśniamy w nim także kategoryzację oprogramowania krytycznego w systemach lotniczych. Artykul opisuje różnice w podejściu do procesu tworzenia oprogramowania od metody kaskadowej, przez model V, aż do metody iteracyjnej i przyrostowej, wraz ze wskazaniem ich największych zalet. Opisane zostały najważniejsze zasady leżące u podstaw metod zwinnych, oraz Scrum jako popularny framework stosowany w tworzeniu oprogramowania nie-krytycznego. Analiza możliwości zastosowania metod zwinnych do tworzenia oprogramowania krytycznego dla bezpieczeństwa w awionice została oparta na praktycznym doświadczeniu autorów. Uwzględnia wymagania standardu DO-178C, wielkość projektu, skalowalność metody, oraz kulturę organizacji. Zdefniowanie zwinnej metody ramowej tworzenia oprogramownia krytycznego dla bezpieczeństwa, spójnej z procesem certyfikacji i istniejącymi standardami zostało uznane za potencjalny przełom dla rozwoju systemów awioniki.
This article summarizes avionics safety-critical software development methodologies and implications of the DO-178C standard from an Agile application perspective. We explain the safety-critical software categorization. It also outlines the main differences and advantages of different approaches to the development process, from Waterfall through the V-model to Iterative and Incremental. Agile principles are explained as well as a Scrum – which is a popular framework in the non-safety-critical software industry. The application of Agile, for safety-critical software considerations, is based on the practical knowledge of the authors, and looks at the potential solution from a DO-178C standard, size of the project, scalability, and organizational culture points of view. Definition of the Agile type of framework, consistent with the certification process and existing standards, has been highlighted as a potential game-changer for the avionics industry.

The aim of this article is to identify opportunities for using synergies obtained by incorporation of the two methods of management: Lean Management and Agile Management on the example of the process of column concreting. Despite the seemingly contradictory assumptions the two concepts complement each other in analysed example. The strategy is based on using the idea of "one piece flow" in accordance with the Lean Management which led to a reduction of costs due to increased turnover of formwork. At the same time the success of the project resulted in a significant dependence on the ability to provide a rapid response to changing conditions during in the maturation of concrete (depending on weather conditions, which can be expected on the basis of projections having different reliability). The simultaneous use of Lean and Agile Management allowed to achieve positive results for different scenarios of environment impact on the analysed process.
Celem artykułu jest wykazanie korzystnego efektu synergii na podstawie zastosowania jednocześnie Lean Management i Agile Management przy betonowaniu słupów w wysokim budynku biurowym (Biurowiec Bałtyk w Poznaniu – Rys. 1). W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono ideę synergii pomiędzy Lean Management opartym na ograniczeniu strat i maksymalizacji wartości z Agile Management bazującym na elastycznym dostosowaniu do zmiennego otoczenia (wewnętrznego i zewnętrznego). Na analizowanym przykładzie budowy wykazano, że zastosowanie idei Lean pozwala na uzyskanie większej rotacji urządzeń formujących (niższe koszty) oraz skrócenie czasu realizacji (zwiększenie tempa realizacji), jednak jednocześnie prowadzi to do zwiększenia wrażliwości zmodyfikowanego harmonogramu na zmienne otoczenie. Realizacja robót w okresie jesienno-zimowym w Polsce generuje znaczne zagrożenie warunków dojrzewania mieszanki betonowej. Ograniczenie ryzyka bazuje na odpowiedniej modyfikacji mieszanki betonowej, co w połączeniu z monitorowaniem procesów w toku i otoczenia oraz wiarygodną prognozą pogody stanowi podstawy elastycznych taktyk składających się na Agile Management.

Millennials, the age cohort born between 1980 - 2000, is by far the most educated generation that history has ever known. They are as well the largest group in the workplace. Research shows that Generation Y also works differently than their older colleagues, and they shape how today’s organizations are designed and managed. According to the research conducted by Gallup, for Millennials “job is more than just a paycheck”. When submitting their job applications, not only do they think about their future income, but they consider many non-materialistic factors. The aim of this paper is to present the new (millennial) organizational culture concepts and to see how they influence employees’ satisfaction and engagement on the one hand and contribute to the organization’s overall success on the other hand.

Współczesne trendy w logistyce skupiają się na efektywniejszym wykorzystaniu zasobów, eliminacji marnotrawstw oraz zachowaniu wysokiej elastyczności dla zwinnej odpowiedzi na zapotrzebowania klientów. Równolegle rozwijane są narzędzia komputerowego wspierania procesów logistycznych. Wydaje się zatem, że logistyka jest gotowa na przyjęcie założeń czwartej rewolucji przemysłowej definiowanej od 2011 roku jako Industry 4.0 za sprawą rządu Niemiec. Przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjne, dostosowując swoje procesy do zmiennych warunków rynkowych, często wdrażają wybrane koncepcje lean lub agile czy też realizują transformację zgodnie z wymaganiami zyskującej na popularności koncepcji Industry 4.0. Celem artykułu jest odpowiedź na pytanie problemowe: czy współczesne trendy w logistyce pokrywają się z założeniami Industry 4.0? W drugiej kolejności autorzy pytają czy zmiany zachodzące w środowiskach produkcyjnych znajdą odzwierciedlenie w procesach logistycznych? W ramach pracy autorzy dokonują subiektywnej oceny trendów realizowanych przez współczesne przedsiębiorstwa i określają na podstawie analizy literaturowej wyzwania, z którymi będą się one musiały zmierzyć w najbliższych latach.
Current trends in logistics focus on increase in efficient usage of resources, eliminating losses within process and maintaining high flexibility to nimbly answer clients’ needs. Simultaneously other tools are being developed like computer aided software for supporitng logistics processes. It seems that modern logistics is ready to answer needs which come out of fourth industrial revolution which is defined since 2011 as Industry 4.0 according to German government. Production companies, while adjusting to changing market conditions, very often implement different conecpts like lean or agile. Sometimes they try to transform according to Industry 4.0 concept’s requirements. The main target of the paper is to answer the question: are current trends in logistics are concurring Industry 4.0 assumptions? What is more authors ask about following changes in production environment and their reflection in logistcs’ processes. Within the paper authors prepared subjective evaluation of current trends in modern companies and described, on the basis of literature review, challenges which will have to be faced by these companies in following years.

Łańcuch dostaw to jedna z najbardziej dynamicznie rozwijających się koncepcji, która w przeciągu ostatnich lat jest przedmiotem intensywnych badań na gruncie zarówno teorii, jak i praktyki działalności gospodarczej. Jej powstanie związane było z rozpoczynającymi się pod koniec lat osiemdziesiątych zmianami w otoczeniu gospodarczym i technologicznym przedsiębiorstw – tworzeniem się rynku globalnego, potrzebą sprostania wzrostowi nacisku ze strony konkurencji, dynamicznym rozwojem technologii informatycznych, wzrostem presji klientów związanym z odkrywaniem przez nich coraz to nowych, bardziej wyrafinowanych potrzeb, itp. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia rezultaty pionierskich badań dotyczących czynników kształtowania jednego z typów łańcucha dostaw - elastycznego łańcucha dostaw. Analiza literatury przedmiotu wskazuje jednoznacznie na braki w zakresie teoretycznego ujęcia koncepcji oraz w metodyce badań zagadnień związanych z kształtowaniem elastycznego łańcucha dostaw. Celem podjęcia badań była zatem próba identyfikacji i analizy czynników, które umożliwiają powstanie i funkcjonowanie elastycznego łańcucha dostaw na polskim rynku. Prezentowane wyniki badań mogą z jednej strony choć częściowo wypełnić lukę w teorii elastycznych łańcuchów dostaw, stanowiąc jednocześnie naukowy fundament do dalszych prac nad tą koncepcją w Polsce.
The supply chain, which in the last few years has been a subject of intense research both in theoretical and practical frameworks, is currently one of the most dynamically developing concepts. Its emergence was concerned with changes occurring in the late eighties of the last century in economical and technological environment: the creation of global market and worldwide economy, a necessity to gain control over new markets with the purpose of having better effect on customers as well as a need to challenge growing pressure from competition, the dynamic development of information technologies, the increasing pressure from customers connected with their newly discovered, more refined needs, etc. The article illustrates the results of pioneer research on logistical success factors for a type of supply chain - the agile supply chain. The analysis of literature indicates the deficiency in the theory of concept and research methodology associated with agile supply chains. The main goal of research was to identify and analyze the factors which enable to form and operate of agile supply chains on Polish market. The results of research enable to decrease deficiency in the theory of agile supply chains and to introduce a scientific foundation for further research on these issues in Poland.

W artykule przedstawiono główne metodyki zarządzania projektami informatycznymi z podziałem na klasyczne i zwinne. Dodatkowo opisano najczęściej używane narzędzia wspomagające zarządzanie projektami informatycznymi oraz skupiono się na narzędziach wspomagających pracę podczas zarządzania ryzykiem, przeprowadzono ich klasyfikację, a także zaprezentowano możliwe sposoby ich wykorzystania w przyszłości. Celem artykułu było ukazanie zależności między wielkością firmy i pochodzeniem jej kapitału a doborem odpowiedniej metodyki zarządzania całym projektem, jak i samym aspektem ryzyka, oraz stosowanych narzędzi informatycznych do zarządzania nim. Przeprowadzono ankietę na 200 respondentach. Warunkiem koniecznym do wypełnienia ankiety było spełnienie jednego kryterium – praca w Polsce w dziale IT w ciągu ostatnich pięciu lat. Grupa respondentów była zróżnicowana pod względem wielkości firmy, pochodzenia jej kapitału, województwa, wielkości miasta oraz rodzaju klientów i świadczonych usług.
The article presents the main methods of managing IT projects divided into classic and agile. In addition, the most frequently used tools supporting IT project management were described. The emphasis was placed on the tools supporting work during risk management, including its classification and the possibilities of the future usage. The aim of the article was to show the relationship between the size of a business and the origin of its capital and the choice of the appropriate management methodology for the entire project, as well as the risk itself and the IT tools used to manage it. A survey of 200 respondents was conducted. The condition necessary to complete the survey was the fulfillment of one criterion – working in Poland in the IT department in the last 5 years. The respondent group was diversified according to the size of the company, the origin of its capital, the voivodship, the size of the city and the type of services provided.

Celem badania jest empiryczne rozpoznanie sposobu funkcjonowania biur zarządzania projektami (ang. PMO) w organizacjach stosujących podejście zwinne. W części środowiska zarządzania projektami panuje przekonanie, że PMO powstające zwykle w organizacjach „tradycyjnych” (command and control) nie przystaje do tzw. zwinnego myślenia (ang. agile mindset). Przykłady liderów gospodarczych pokazują jednak, że po dopasowaniu do nowych warunków, biura utrzymują swoją funkcję, a wręcz stają się zwornikiem nowego, bardziej elastycznego systemu organizacji i zarządzania. W obszarze tym istnieje istotna luka wiedzy, która na bazie uważnego rozpoznania autorów nie znajduje nadal dostatecznego zaspokojenia w dostępnych zasobach wiedzy naukowej, ani źródłach popularnych. W badaniu przyjęto strategię badawczą opartą na metodzie wywiadów ustrukturyzowanych, za pomocą których zgromadzono materiał opisujący łącznie 6 przypadków. Następnie materiał ten poddano analizie. W rezultacie nie udało się wykazać istotnych różnic w funkcjonowaniu biura projektów między środowiskiem zwinnym i tradycyjnym. Respondenci nie dostrzegli również zagrożenia dla działania PMO w mniej sformalizowanym zwinnym środowisku.
The aim of the study is empirical recognition of the functioning of project management offices (PMOs) in organizations using the agile approach project management. In some project management circles, there is a belief that PMOs typically formed in ‘traditional’ (command and control) organizations are not compatible with the so-called agile mindset. However, examples of business leaders show that, after adapting to new conditions, PMOs maintain their function and even become a pivot for a new, more flexible system of organization and management. In this area there is a knowledge gap which has not been addressed sufficiently either in the subject literature or in popular sources so far, according to the authors. The study adopted a research strategy based on the method of structured interviews through which material describing a total of 6 cases was gathered. Subsequently, this material underwent analysis. As a result, it was not possible to demonstrate significant differences in the functioning of the project office between agile and traditional environments. The respondents also did not perceive any threats to the PMO’s operation in a less formalized agile environment.

Purpose: The construction industry has one of the most important roles in any countries economy, despite of that, construction projects remain under the spotlight when compared to other industries projects due to its special nature and scope, with their increase of complexity which by default increases the amount of changes occurring therefore rising the risks of low performance, which is already an issue in the sector, construction management is facing more challenges than ever, this research paper was carried out in order to provide possible alternatives for the traditional way of managing construction projects. Design/Methodology/Approach: A literature review was carried out exploring the necessities of implementing agile management in the field in order to coop with the increasing complexity and uncertainty of construction projects therefore increasing the overall performance, alongside identifying the potentials and limitations of such an approach. Findings: As a result it was found that a tailored approach could be the answer to improve the whole sector and bring it up to date, using an integration of various methods of lean and agile management with traditional waterfall method, the agile management tools do show promising potential for the dynamic project nature which shows the importance of such an implementation. Originality/Value: This paper provides cognitive scientific value by adding needed knowledge in a relatively immature research area for the practical development of one of the largest industries.

The article discusses processes (models) of software development in the agile approach to the software development projects on the example of the ATERN methodology. The article provides detailed product descriptions (business, technical, management) created in the software development process in the agile approach to the software development projects. Also presented an analysis of the products created in this process from the point of view of the: purpose of their production, involvement of roles from the organizational structure of the project, activities in the life cycle of products in the process of software development in the agile approach. Article completed a short summary.

Artykuł zawiera rozważania na temat roli komunikacji cyfrowej w projektach interdyscyplinarnych. Jego celem jest pokazanie, na bazie doświadczeń interdyscyplinarnych zespołów projektowych, konsekwencji wyboru kanałów i cyfrowych narzędzi komunikacji wpływających na wyniki projektów. W pierwszej części artykułu rozważono wpływ transformacji cyfrowej na zarządzanie projektami. Druga część opisuje kluczowe czynniki sukcesu projektów i potwierdza istotną rolę komunikacji jako jednego z elementów wpływających na osiągnięcie zamierzonych celów. Trzecia sekcja krótko charakteryzuje narzędzia komunikacji zastosowane w dwóch wybranych projektach interdyscyplinarnych: SQUAD i BIM z perspektywy ich koordynatora. This article considers the important role of digital communication in interdisciplinary projects. This paper describes the experience of interdisciplinary project teams and points to the consequences of the choice of communication channels and tools influencing project deliverables within those teams. The first section of this paper considers the influence of digital transformation on project management. The second section describes key project success factors concerning all types of projects and concludes that communication is one of important factors. The third section briefly defines interdisciplinary projects: SQUAD and BIM. This section also describes the communication methods and techniques that were used within these projects. Design patterns are very popular in programmers. It allow you to solve choosen problems in the object-oriented languages, and also provide some benefits, for example: lower cost of program upgrades. Implementations of patterns (even the same kind) can vary considerably from one another and do not provide the expected benefits. The paper presents a solution for measuring the implementation of patterns, and then provides a verification of this solution in practice and on the space of a joint formal representation.

Main goal of this article is to present agile process of product and organizational innovation created and implemented at Wolters Kluwer. It shows features and nature of the product and organizational innovation by describing their basic characteristics. Main assumptions, possibilities and risks of agile innovation process were discussed. Each step of the process was described which allows reader to understand how to implement and use that process. Authors of the article also present key suggestions and conclusions for process usage in other organizations.

W artykule zbadano strategiczną integrację innowacyjnych technologii w ramach platform opartych na zasadach myślenia systemowego. Myślenie systemowe zapewnia holistyczne podejście do zrozumienia złożonych interakcji, podczas gdy zwinne metodologie promują zdolność adaptacji i szybkość reakcji. W miarę jak czołowe przedsiębiorstwa technologiczne w dalszym ciągu kształtują cyfrowy krajobraz poprzez gry w chmurze, modele subskrypcji i zintegrowane ekosystemy, znaczenie myślenia systemowego staje się oczywiste jako zasada wiodąca. Zdobywając całościowe zrozumienie powiązanej dynamiki w systemach cyfrowych, firmy technologiczne mogą zręcznie manewrować wśród zawiłości, skutecznie wspierać innowacje i zapewniać użytkownikom płynne i ulepszone spotkania cyfrowe. W artykule dokonano charakterystyki zwinnych łańcuchów dostaw wraz z analizą zakłóceń. Postępująca globalizacja w zasadniczy sposób wpływa na zarządzanie przedsiębiorstwami oraz na przepływ towarów i usług. Jedną z założeń w przepływie towarów jest koncepcja zwinnego łańcucha dostaw. Aby efektywnie zarządzać łańcuchami dostaw oraz utrzymać odpowiednią pozycję na rynku, konieczne jest zdefiniowanie ewentualnych zakłóceń. Artykuł przedstawia możliwe do występowania zakłócenia w tradycyjnych modelach łańcucha dostaw oraz z wyszczególnieniem zakłóceń w zwinnych systemach zarządzania.
The article discusses the characteristics of agile supply chains with disturbance analysis. One of the assumptions in the flow of goods is the concept of agile supply chain. In order to effectively manage supply chains and maintain an appropriate market position, it is necessary to define possible interruptions. This article presents possible interference in traditional supply chain models and specifies interference in agile management systems.

Technological progress is the driving force behind industrial development. It is a multidimensional and multi-level phenomenon. In this article we focus on its three manifestations: information and communication technologies (ICT), Industry 4.0 and agile manufacturing. The aim of this article is to analyse the relationship between these constructs as they are undoubtedly interrelated. ICT plays a key role, but it is not a goal itself. They are a prerequisite for the implementation of Industry 4.0, but together with it they serve to achieve agility by the manufacturing system and, as a result, achieve a competitive advantage by companies operating in turbulent and unpredictable environment. The literature findings in this paper are part of a broader study conducted on the impact of ICT on agility of SMEs operating in India. Therefore, we include also subsections showing the level of this relationship in Indian SMEs.

Purpose: In recent years more and more agile methods of software production have been used in information projects (IT projects). Apart from some common features with other measures, IT projects have their own specificity which should be considered prior to the choice of the Traditional Project Management (TPM) or Agile Project Management (APM) for management of a particular project. Owing to the specificity of the implemented projects the approach presented in agile methods is more and more frequently chosen and preferred both by the solutions providers and the clients. Furthermore, the use of one of the traditional or agile methods should be preceded by analysis of various types of conditions of the sector in which the public administration entity is functioning. Legal conditions, organizational and decision-making culture, project financing methods and maturity of teams and the whole organisation in the project management area, affect not only the choice of methods but also the final success of the project. The multicriterial analysis of limitations in information projects implementation in the public sector allowed identification of the most important recommendations within necessary changes. The article points out that agile methods will not entirely replace the traditional management of IT projects in the public sector, with the most effective approach being their harmonious coexistence. Design/methodology/approach: The recommendation to use the TPM and APM approaches in Polish public administration entities was preceded by analysis of the most important legal acts for this purpose and comparison of the position of our country (or cluster to which Poland is qualified) in the acknowledged European study from the cycle of eGovernment Benchmark dating back to the years 2004-2018. Recommendations for implementation of IT projects in the public sector were supported by analysis of CHAOS reports dating back to 2012-2018 and 11th, 12th and 13th Annual State of Agile Reports respectively from 2016, 2017 and 2018. The article does not treat separately each of the best known methodologies and methodologies of confirmed effectiveness, but considers the shared philosophy of traditional or agile approach. Findings: The development of e-government proceeds due to the implementation – from the private sector – of the form of management through the development of projects. Analysis of the position of the Polish e-government in the eGovernment Benchmark points to a high backwardness of the public sector in Poland as compared to other countries. The backwardness may be made up for through implementation of effective methods of IT project management. However, the choice of an agile method should be preceded by an analysis of specific achievable benefits and conditions which have to be fulfilled as they are necessary to achieve such benefits. The public sector conditions connected with the Public Procurement Law and informal limitations resulting, among other, from organisational and decisive culture will not allow, as for now, to fully use agile methods. Originality/value: The public sector in Poland is the largest but at the same time the most difficult customer of services and products from the ICT sector in Poland. For a large purchaser of the ICT sector solutions the choice of the most effective project management method becomes a significant determinant of the project’s success. In practice, there is no organization or project in which a methodology in its pure form could be used. Therefore, a given methodological approach has to be adjusted to the conditions of the sector in which the organisation is functioning and to a specific project.

Celem pracy jest pokazanie uwarunkowań, przebiegu oraz rezultatów transformacji przedsiębiorstwa wynikającej z wprowadzenia nowej metodyki zarządzania projektami. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań własnych w postaci studium przypadku przedsiębiorstwa sektora teleinformatyki wprowadzającego nową zwinną metodykę zarządzania projektami. Jak wykazano w badaniach, zmiana metodyki zarządzania projektami może prowadzić zarówno do zwiększenia szans na sukces dużych i złożonych projektów informatycznych oraz teleinformatycznych, jak i do transformacji całej organizacji, rozumianej jako szereg gruntownych zmian w obszarach technologicznym, metodycznym, procesowym, strategicznym, organizacyjnym i kulturowym, zorientowanych na zwiększenie przewagi konkurencyjnej.
The paper is focused on conditions, process and results of the organizational transformation due to the introduction of new project management methodology. After literature review, the case study of the ICT company implementing new agile project management methodology is presented. As the results show, the change of the project management methodology might affect the project success in large and complex IT and ICT projects. Moreover, it might lead to the organizational transformation in technology, methodology, processes, strategy, organization and organizational culture extending competitive advantage of the organization.
