    The publication presents the structure of 8D report. The report is used in quality management system and in complaint process. According to the structure of the report in the publication the problem of quantity complaint – an example: steel product - was presented.

    Opis:
    An enterprise which is managed in a modern way should be based on the concept of knowledge management. It is particularly important in the case of processes related to facility maintenance, where the efficiency and effectiveness of work is directly connected with the employees’ knowledge. Improvement of processes involved in facility maintenance has a real influence on the productivity of a manufacturing enterprise. High accessibility of technical equipment and its correct functioning influence not only production efficiency but also the quality of products and the safety of operators. The article is a description of an attempt to implement one of quality engineering methods for improving the facility maintenance process. The author decided to use the 8D method to shorten the duration of downtimes caused by breakdowns. Owing to the conducted analysis and the implementation of the improvement and preventive actions, we were able to shorten the duration of a downtime of a machine having a crucial importance for the company. Investigations and implementation were conducted in one of Silesian production plants.

    Opis:
    Organizations should be able to define what is a problem, be able to quickly find the cause of its occurrence and then decide on its elimination. It is the basis of the organization's functioning and development. The aim of the study is analyze the often solution problem with a large number of nonconforming products. The analysis was conducted in PZL Sędziszów company with using the 8D method. Analyzed the solution of the problem of incompatibility of products such as car bearing baskets. The analysis showed that changes in product inspection were necessary, as well as proved the importance of employee training and their liability for product and its quality. The conclusions of the analysis can be used in any organization wishing to improve its products.
    Organizacje powinny umieć zdefiniować, co jest problemem, potrafić w szybki sposób odnajdywać przyczyny jego wystąpienia i dopiero wówczas podejmować decyzje o jego eliminacji. To podstawa funkcjonowania i rozwoju organizacji. Celem artykułu jest przeanalizowanie sposobu rozwiązania często spotykanego problemu niezadowalająco dużej liczby wyrobów niezgodnych. Analizę przeprowadzono w przedsiębiorstwie PZL Sędziszów z wykorzystaniem metodyki 8D. Dokonano analizy rozwiązania problemu niezgodności wyrobów, jakim były koszyki łożysk samochodowych. Analiza wykazała konieczność wprowadzenia zmian w kontrolach produkowanych wyrobów, a także udowodniła jak istotne są szkolenia pracowników i uświada-mianie im odpowiedzialności za produkt i jego jakość. Wnioski płynące z analizy można wykorzystać w dowolnych organizacjach pragnących doskonalić swoje wyroby.

    The aim of the study is to use the 8D methodology to solve the production problem, which was the incorrect installation of the rings in the piston designed for excavators. The idea of the method used is to correctly identify the causes of the problem and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of the problem. In order to detect as many potential causes of non-compliance as possible, the working team conducted brainstorming sessions and then developed the Ishikawa diagram. Team members found that the most common source of the problem was human error. In order to eliminate it, it was decided to carry out a series of training courses and to additionally equip assembly stations. The presented methodology of solving quality problems can be implied in every production company.

    Celem artykułu jest przeanalizowanie sposobu rozwiązywania problemu jakościowego związanego z dostarczeniem produktów do klienta bez zatwierdzonej specyfikacji (SCR – wniosku o zmianę). Problem powstał w przedsiębiorstwie produkującym filtry, w celu jego rozwiązania sporządzono raport zgodnie z metodyką 8D. W części teoretycznej omówiono metodę 8D oraz wybrane narzędzia zarządzania jakością. Część praktyczna zawiera analizę sposobu rozwiązywania problemu z wykorzystaniem raportu 8D. Na podstawie przeanalizowanych danych wyciągnięto wnioski, które mogą być przydatne w każdej organizacji, która pragnie w skuteczny sposób rozwiązywać pojawiające się problemy jakościowe.
    The purpose of this article is to analyze how to solve a quality problem related to the delivery of products to the customer without an approved specification (SCR – application for change). The problem arose in the company producing filters, in order to solve it, a report was prepared in accordance with the 8D methodology. The theoretical part discusses the 8D method and selected quality management tools. The practical part contains an analysis of how to solve the problem using the 8D report. Based on the data analyzed, conclusions have been drawn that may be useful in any organization that wants to effectively solve emerging quality problems.

    Opis:
    The G8D method is a universal method for solving problems arising in production processes, also used in optimisation of these processes. The method allows the detection and elimination of any drawbacks occurring in manufacturing processes and ensuring the safety of these processes. In the article, the authors have presented one of the sensitive and critical disciplines of the G8D problem solving method in production processes, i.e. discipline D2 - “problem description”. The authors have presented the algorithm of procedure in the discipline D2 as well as the quality management tools that can be used to correctly “describe the problem”. The authors have also discussed the procedure for the discipline D2 in the "problem description" for the case of the projection welding of a nut.

    In the paper the D3 discipline of the G8D method has been presented. In the presented procedure all decisions are made regarding the introduction of interim corrective actions - ICA. The algorithm of conduct for the discipline and the quality management tools that the discipline uses have been also presented. It has been also discusses how to proceed for the D3 discipline in determining temporary corrective actions for the NOK detail with the preceding actions in the D2 discipline.

    The G8D method is one of the methods used in quality management using quality management tools and designed to solve problems occurring in production processes. The method consists of 8 disciplines and ensures the required quality of both production processes and finished products. It may also be applied to the optimization of production processes, while ensuring their safety. In the article, the authors presented the method of using the D4 discipline algorithm of the G8D method allowing to detect the root cause of the problem in the process and to indicate the so-called escape point. The authors presented the course of action for discipline D4 undertaken when the root cause of the problem is to be analysed. The procedure is presented on an exemplary process of the projection welding of a nut.

    Purpose: The aim of the presented investigations was to explore the possibilities of the effective use of the 8D method to improve the merchandise distribution processes. Design/methodology/approach: The application of the 8D method involved the use of support tools, such as 5Why or ABC. These tools helped to identify and categorize problems involved in the distribution of goods. Next, major problems and their causes were identified. The 8D method enabled establishing improvement, corrective and remedial actions. The last stage of the analysis was verifying the effectiveness of the implemented actions, which proved that the application of the 8D method to improve distribution processes was justified. Findings: The 8D method turned out to be an effective tool for solving problems identified in the distribution process, which proves its effective transfer from the automotive industry. Research limitations/implications: The correct use of the 8D method, which guarantees obtaining reliable and useful results, is only possible if an interdisciplinary research team is appointed. Such a team should consist of a leader and specialists from organizational units responsible for the process correctness. Small and medium-size companies may have insufficient resources to conduct investigations and analyses in a proper way. Practical implications: The discussed case study proves that it is possible to use advanced management methods in the company. Creating an efficient and experienced team should result in developing an effective mechanism for identifying the causes and solving problems in the company’s logistic processes. Originality/value: An original solution is implementation of the 8D method from the automotive industry to improve logistic processes.

    A theory and a practical example of proceeding with the 8D procedure in the automotive industry enterprise have been shown. The most common errors in the 8D procedure have been given. Indication of the possibility of modifying the 8D method was the main goal of the study. This modification took into account the modern requirements of standardized management systems - in particular in areas related to risk analysis. The methodology presenting the course of the proceedings has been presented in the article.

    The current research study aimed to explore the utility of selected problem-solving tools and techniques in root-cause analysis to demonstrate their practical application. An experimental research design adopting a positivist empirical approach with a deductive strategy was followed to assess the effectiveness of a combined (8D & Six Sigma) problem-solving approach in reducing a high defects rate of a mixer shower assembly line. A novel application of the 8D framework in combination with Six Sigma and other analytical tools was found highly effective in reducing the reject rate from 11.84% to 0.11%. Successful identification of the root cause led to the implementation of permanent corrective action ensuring a long-term stable assembly process. The research study provided a problem-solving framework that was found effective in resolving a complex problem and implementing long-term corrective action in an assembly production line. However, this framework can be used in other industries. The research study provides a solution to a high number of leak rejects in a subassembly where “O-seals” are used between mating parts. It also provides analytical tools that were found highly effective during the problem-solving process.

    This elaboration shows how to use Height Data by using airborne laser scanning (ALS) to delineation of flow lines which let to evaluation of water’s flow on terrain. Maps, which show flow lines, were generated by using GIS software and tools on testing areas. To achieve this goal were used methods of a single flow direction and multiple flow direction. Created maps which show directions of runoff, generated based on the DTM, were subjected to analysis. On the basis of these maps were evaluated the accuracy of determination of the flow direction on the testing areas by using individual algorithms. Studies determining directions of runoff can and do have large application. They will serve the author as initium to create a network of watercourses needed to convert 3D image. This model of the network 3D will be an attempt to create a component BDOT10k in the form of three-dimensional.
