Opis:
We studied the magnetization switching in magnetically bistable amorphous ferromagnetic microwires. We observed quite fast domain wall propagation along the microwires and a correlation between the magnetoelastic anisotropy, distribution of the local nucleation field along the length of microwire and the domain wall dynamics. We observed that both DW velocity and the range of fields, limiting single DW dynamics, can be manipulated by internal or applied stresses and by annealing. We also observed that under certain conditions a controllable domain wall (DW) collision can be realized in different parts of the wire, and that it is possible to manipulate the DW dynamics in a field-driven regime.

The fast domain wall dynamics of amorphous glass-coated microwires can be changed drastically by properly selected annealing temperature. Here, the effect of thermal annealing on the surface domain structure of microwires is examined. Imaging the surface domain structure by Bitter colloid revealed the periodic pattern in each studied sample. Thermal annealing of microwires results in the five times increase of the domain wall velocity, as compared to the as-cast state. Influence of the surface domain structure on the fast domain wall propagation in microwires is discussed.

We have studied the effect of thermal treatment on amorphous glass-coated $Fe_{40}Si_{7.5}B_{15}$ microwires. This microwire is characterized by transverse domain wall regime only, with maximum domain wall velocity of about 1500 m/s. Annealing at 200°C slightly increases its transverse domain wall velocity, probably due to the reduction of mechanical stresses during the thermal annealing. Annealing at 300°C leads to drastical increase of domain wall mobility and domain wall velocity of the transverse domain wall up to 2500 m/s. Moreover, vortex regime appears in this case. Thanks to it, maximum domain wall velocity of around 5000 m/s was observed.

Here, we present the domain wall dynamics in thin magnetic wires that exhibit even negative mobility regime. Such a regime is well below the Walker limit and is a result of structural relaxation. It disappears at high frequencies and it can be enhanced by application of mechanical stress. Moreover, the domain wall velocity was found to be almost field-independent at certain measuring conditions. Anyway, the domain wall velocity remains quite high (> 450 m/s) in this regime.

Here we present the domain wall dynamics in FeNi-based microwires with positive magnetostriction. Two different ranges were found which differs by the measured domain wall mobility. At low fields, the domain wall dynamics exhibit small mobility, whereas at higher field the domain wall mobility increases. The difference in the two regimes of the domain wall dynamics is treated in terms of the different domain wall structure. At low fields, the transversal domain wall is expected, with low domain wall mobility. At high field, the vortex-type domain wall with high domain wall mobility is created.

We present an overview of the factors affecting soft magnetic properties, fast domain wall propagation and giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect in thin amorphous wires. The magnetoelastic anisotropy is one of the most important parameters that determine the magnetic properties of glass-coated microwires and therefore annealing can be very effective for manipulation the magnetic properties of amorphous ferromagnetic glass-coated microwires. Increasing of DW velocity in Fe-rich and Fe-Ni based (low Ni content) microwires is achieved after annealing. After heat treatment of Co-rich microwires we can observe transformation of inclined hysteresis loops to rectangular and coexistence of fast magnetization switching and GMI effect in the same sample. On the other hand stress annealing of Fe- and Co-rich microwires allows achievement of considerable magnetic softening and GMI effect enhancement.

Soft magnetic amorphous Co-based materials prepared by rapid quenching method in the form of thin ribbon are well-known due to their excellent soft magnetic properties as high permeability, low coercivity, and low magnetic losses in kHz range. The amorphous Co-Fe-B-Si material Vitrovac® 6155 U55 produced by Vacuumschmelze GmbH & Co. KG belongs to this class of materials and was investigated in as-delivered state. The aim of this work was to study DC magnetization process by various experimental methods. We have measured magnetization curve by fluxmeter based hysteresis graph and hysteresis loops by three different fluxmeter based hysteresis graphs, exhibiting significant differences. The first and the second hysteresis graph perform the hysteresis loops measurement by the point-by-point method, either with commutative or with summing steps. The third one is AC hysteresis graph working at very low frequencies down to 7 mHz, performing the continuous method. The explanation of this result is based on the structural after effect influencing the domain wall displacement. We assumed that the domain structure consists of very small number of domain walls responsible for magnetization process, which was confirmed by the visualization of static domain structure by a computer-controlled setup based on the Kerr effect.

The presented article deals with a model of magnetic reversal in conducting lamination with a one central ferromagnetic layer and two outer non-ferromagnetic layers. Considering a single rigid 180° domain wall spreading through the axially magnetized ferromagnetic layer the calculation of induced eddy currents in lamination is performed. The dependence of single domain wall mobility on the thickness of ferromagnetic layer is displayed. The effect of non-homogeneous magnetic field intensity generated by eddy currents is also discussed.

The main parameters of micromagnetic structure formation in a vicinity of a second order phase transition were determined experimentally and theoretically. The theoretical study was performed using micromagnetic approach. External magnetic field $H_{c}$ of appearance of micromagnetic structure and micromagnetic structure period $L_{c}$ were determined for (001)-oriented plate with uniaxial $K_{u}$ and cubic K₁ magnetic anisotropy. The plate was saturated by the field applied in its plane. In the model we assumed that magnetization vector undergoes small deviations from equilibrium if magnetic field is slightly reduced. These deviations are periodic in nature: micromagnetic structure has a form of a plane wave. Dependences of $H_{c}$ and $L_{c}$ on an azimuthal angle of external magnetic field and on anisotropy constants $K_{u}$ and K₁ were derived analytically in this work. Experimental studies of micromagnetic structure near the second order phase transition were conducted on (EuEr)₃(FeGa)₅O₁₂ (001)-oriented 50 μm thick ferrite-garnet plate with $K_{u}$ = 5700 erg/cm³ and K₁=-3700 erg/cm³. Micromagnetic structure was revealed by means of magnetooptic Faraday effect. The in-plane field was increased up to 2000 Oe. Experimentally determined values of $H_{c}$ and $L_{c}$ were compared with theoretical estimates.

Opis:
Soft magnetic composite materials are composed of small ferromagnetic particles insulated from each other. It gives them some very good properties e.g. the magnetic isotropy and low total energy losses at medium to higher frequencies. On the other hand, their structure gives rise to the negative aspects as the inner demagnetizing fields, resulting in some specifics in magnetization processes leading to the worsening of soft magnetic properties, particularly the excess losses increase and a lowering of permeability. The frequency dependence of excess losses, the low and high induction loss components and the inner demagnetization factors of soft magnetic composites were investigated in order to reveal the proportions of the reversible and irreversible magnetization processes. Higher excess losses were observed in samples with smaller particles or higher non-ferromagnetic content (resin+pores), in which the inner demagnetizing fields were higher. It was explained by lower effective number of movable domain walls in those samples, thus less irreversible magnetization processes. This was confirmed by low and high induction loss analysis, where total losses were divided into low and high induction loss components and plotted vs. frequency.

We have investigated soft magnetic composite materials to better understand the influence of binder (resin) content on the DC magnetic properties and the complex permeability. Soft magnetic composite samples were composed from NiFe powder with phenol formaldehyde resin (ATM). Ferromagnetic magnetic powder for ring-shaped samples was obtained by milling of small pieces cut of NiFe sheets. The obtained powder was annealed to partially remove structural defects. The prepared powder was mixed with phenol-formaldehyde resin in different vol.%. The mixtures were pressed into the ring-shape samples. Complex permeability and DC magnetic properties (initial magnetization curves, anhysteretic curves and hysteresis loops) were measured. Higher inner demagnetizing fields in the resin containing samples were responsible for higher coercivity and hysteresis losses, but the permeability was stable up to much higher frequencies, compared to the sample without the resin.

The analysis of total losses into dc losses, classical losses and excess losses showed that the classical and excess losses were negligibly small. The specific resistivity was increasing with the increasing fraction of Vitroperm (VPM). The coercivity exhibited maximum at 20% of VPM.

Dynamics of the domain wall between circular magnetic domains in amorphous ferromagnetic $Co_{68.2}Fe_{4.3}Si_{12.5}B_{15}$ wire was studied in a small region around the domain wall equilibrium position in an inhomogeneous magnetic field. The wire was prepared using the in-rotating-water-quenching technique. Small helical anisotropy was induced in the wire by current annealing and simultaneous application of tensile stress and torsion. The inhomogeneous magnetic field acted on domain wall by restoring force directly proportional to the displacement of the domain wall from its equilibrium position. Domain wall position was monitored by circular magnetic flux measurements from which it results that domain wall motion can be modeled by the motion of a very strongly damped pendulum. The value of domain wall mobility obtained from these experiments is in good agreement with the values calculated and measured for domain wall driven by a constant magnetic field.

We have studied the magnetization process in amorphous $Fe_{49.6}Ni_{27.9}Si_{7.5}B_{15}$ microwire. It was found that the hysteresis mechanism consists of two contributions: magnetoelastic and structural relaxation. It was shown that at low frequencies, the magnetization process is controlled mainly by the structural relaxation. At higher frequencies (above 50 Hz), the relaxation effect disappears and switching field is determined mainly by the magnetoelastic contribution. Moreover, the effect of thermal treatment at temperature 300°C has been studied. As-cast microwire is almost unsensible to the applied tensile stress since the applied stresses are lower than that induced during production. After annealing, the stresses relax and stress sensibility of microwires increases.

We investigate the effect of magnetostatic interactions on the magnetization reversal process of equilateral triangular rings arranged on a hexagonal lattice. Inter-ring interactions originate as rings corners host domain-walls that produce an intense dipolar field; the effect of such interactions is studied by recording hysteresis loops for different magnetic field orientations. Rings magnetic configuration is probed via magnetic force microscopy and diffraction magneto-optic Kerr effect measurements. We observe that the effect of stray fields due to domain-walls competes with that of shape anisotropy, and that the former prevails when the magnetic field orientation is parallel to rings symmetry axes.

In the structures, the exchange bias field propagates in such a way that $H_{ex}^{t}$ > $H_{ex}^{m}$ > $H_{ex}^{b}$ for the top, middle, and bottom layer, respectively. FMR response measured along the exchange bias (EB) axis consist of only two absorptions related to the (b+m)- and (t)-CFS layers, respectively. Exchange and rotatable anisotropy determined independently from angular and dispersion measurements of the resonance fields are nearly the same. Rotatable anisotropy field scales with the exchange bias field in these complex structures.

We present a micromagnetic approach to the exchange bias in ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic thin film systems with a small number of irreversible interfacial magnetic moments. We express the exchange bias field $H_{EB}$ in terms of the fundamental micromagnetic length scale of ferromagnetic - the exchange length $l_{ex}$. The benefit from this approach is a better separation of the factor related to the ferromagnetic layer from the factor related to the ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic coupling at interfaces. Using this approach we estimate the upper limit of $H_{EB}$ in real ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic systems.

The effect of pulse annealing on magnetization processes in FINEMET-type alloy in weak magnetic fields (the Rayleigh area) is studied in this paper. Rapidly quenched FINEMET ribbon in the original amorphous state was chosen for the study. The significant differences in behavior of studied materials are ascribed to the differences in internal mechanical stresses, which bring about the changes in total magnetic anisotropy and consequently also changes in domain walls thickness.

Other shapes of micromagnets are also considered to obtain more precise picture of the vortex dynamics.

We study the effect of nanometric size on the crystal structure, magnetic environment of iron and magnetization in NdFeO₃ system of nanoparticles. The average particle size of NdFeO₃ nanoparticles increases with annealing at 600°C from about 15 nm to 40 nm. The smallest particles on annealed sample have size approximately 30 nm and typically have character of single crystalline samples. All samples adopt orthorhombic crystal structure, space group Pnma with lattice parameters a =5.5817 Å, b=7.7663 Å and c =5.456 Å for as prepared sample. The presence of superparamagnetic particles was indicated by the Mössbauer measurements. The reduction of dimensionality induces a decrease of T_{N1} from 691 K to 544 K. The shift of magnetic hysteresis loop in vertical and horizontal direction was observed at low temperatures after cooling in magnetic field. We attribute such behaviour to exchange bias effect and discuss in the frame of core-shell model.

The influence of current annealing on the complex domain structure in amorphous and nanocrystalline FeCoMoB microwire has been studied. The thickness of radial domain structure together with the switching field of single domain wall change as a consequence of variation of complex internal stress distribution inside metallic core. Firstly, radial domain structure thickness monotonously increases with increasing annealing DC current density for amorphous state. Switching field exhibits local minimum in nanocrystalline sample annealed at 500 MA/m^2 for 10 min when the lowest thickness of outer shell (182 nm) was observed. Such annealed sample (which magnetic properties exhibit excellent temperature stability) is suitable candidate for miniaturized sensor construction for sensing the magnetic field or mechanical stress.

It has been reported recently that domain wall mobility in Fe-based amorphous glass-coated microwire can be significantly different in the cases when magnetization reversal caused by domain wall motion results in different orientation of magnetization. This behaviour has been called unidirectional effect. The effect of temperature on domain wall velocity vs. axial magnetic field dependences was studied for glass-coated Fe_{77.5}Si_{7.5}B_{15} microwire samples with strong unidirectional effect. Unidirectional effect was observed for the whole temperature interval from 100 K up to room temperature. Analysis of the results obtained indicates that the model of a solid domain wall does not explain the observed v(H) dependences. It seems very probable that besides standard damping mechanisms also changes in structure (shape) of the domain wall as a function of velocity (magnetic field) should be considered. Understanding of this mechanism could also provide interpretation of unidirectional effect.

In this work the magnetic properties of ribbons with composition of $Nd_{10}Fe_{83}Zr_1B_6$ obtained by using the melt-spinning method were studied. From the X-ray diffraction patterns the phase composition was determined. It was found that investigated alloy was composed of α-Fe and $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ phases. From the peaks broadening the grain sizes of α-Fe and $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ phases were estimated as equal to 20 nm and 40 nm, respectively. From the recoil curves the reversible $μ_0$ $M_{rev}$ and irreversible $μ_0 M_{irr}$ parts of magnetization and differential susceptibility $χ_{rev}$ and $χ_{irr}$ were determined as a function of an applied field. From these dependences it was found that the pinning of domain walls at the grain boundaries is the main magnetization reversal process. The interactions between grains were investigated by means of the δ M plot. It was stated that short range exchange interaction between grains of hard and soft phases are dominant and causes the remanence enhancement.

This paper presents some structural, magnetic and electrical properties of 40 nm and 75 nm thick La$\text{}_{0.7}$Sr$\text{}_{0.3}$MnO$\text{}_{3}$ thin films deposited on vicinal SrTiO$\text{}_{3}$(001) substrates. The vicinal angles were 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10º from the [001] direction towards [110]. Standard SrTiO$\text{}_{3}$(001) substrates were used for comparison and for the growth condition optimization. Structural properties were studied by X-ray diffraction, which indicated that the LSMO films grew with their (001) axis coincident with the (001) axis of the substrate. The surface morphology was carefully studied by atomic force microscopy in tapping mode. Very smooth films and regular step-terrace structures on the La$\text{}_{0.7}$Sr$\text{}_{0.3}$MnO$\text{}_{3}$ surfaces could be observed. The root mean square roughness measured in 2μ m×2μ m images was in the 0.130-0.580 nm range for all angles and both thicknesses. Superconducting quantum interference device magnetometer measurements revealed a Curie temperature in the 340-350 K range and magneto-optical Kerr microscopy enabled magnetic domain imaging and hysteresis loop measurements at 300 K. A uniaxial easy magnetization direction was obtained at 300 K for angles above 4º, with the easy axis along the steps. Finally, preliminary 1/f noise measurements were performed at 300 K for bias currents along and perpendicular to the step direction, showing a noise level as low as that we typically measured on standard SrTiO$\text{}_{3}$(001) substrates. All these results are promising for the future realization of room-temperature devices making use of the anisotropy of the magnetization.

A new experimental method for the study of closure domain structure dynamics in bistable ferromagnetic microwires is proposed. The simple experimental set-up enables detection of the presence of a free domain wall in the wire after application of a well-defined rectangular magnetic field pulse. The changes in closure domain structure dynamics, caused by applied tensile stress, are demonstrated by measurements on $Fe_{77.5}B_{15}Si_{7.5}$ glass-coated microwire. Minimum critical field for the release of a domain wall from the closure domain structure increases with increasing stress, while on the other hand, the minimum time needed for this process rapidly decreases with increasing stress.

Aggregates of superparamagnetic nanoparticles, so called multicore particles get much attention due to collective magnetic behaviour. Despite the fact that saturation magnetization and coercivity of multicore particles are lower than for single particles of comparable size, they can generate large amount of heat in alternating magnetic field. This makes them promising for magnetic hyperthermia. However, correlation between internal magnetic structure of multicore particles and their heating ability in alternating magnetic fields are not clear yet. Detailed experimental investigations are required to determine the optimal sizes of multicore particles and the alternating magnetic field parameters to obtain maximal heat. In this study, we demonstrated how hydrodynamic size of multicore particles influences alternating magnetic field energy absorption. Dense aggregates composed of bare magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles of 13 nm were obtained by coprecipitation. Further peptization allowed to gain aqueous dispersions of multicore particles with various hydrodynamic size, varing from 85 to 170 nm, due to electrostatic stabilization. Multicore particles dispersions have saturation magnetization of 40 A m²/kg_{Fe₃O₄} and coercivity of 79.6 A/m regardless of their size. Dispersion of 85 nm multicore particles is stable and provides specific loss power of 42 W/g_{Fe}. Further increase of hydrodynamic size leads to low stability and loss of the ability to generate heat in alternating magnetic field.

The magnetization reversal mechanism in the $Nd_{16}Fe_{78}B_6$ hot densified magnet, aligned by means of die-upset forging has been investigated. The magnetic parameters have been derived from major hysteresis loop. The magnetocrystalline anisotropy constants $K_1$ and $K_2$ using Sucksmith-Thompson relation modified by Ram and Gaunt have been calculated from the high field measurements up to 5 T. These data have been used to determine the theoretical value of coercivity as a function of the angle $Ψ_0$ between the sample easy axis and the applied magnetic field direction. The experimental value of coercivity as a function of $Ψ_0$ has been determined from the demagnetization curves measured for different $Ψ_0$ angles. It was found that the best correlation between theoretical and experimental data have been achieved for magnetization reversal mechanism controlled partially by pinning of domain walls on grain boundaries and nucleation processes.

The magnetic domain structure, its transformation with temperature, and the magnetization reversal in 20 nm $La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}MnO_{3}$ film grown on $LaAlO_{3}$ substrate by off-axis magnetron sputtering at 700°C and post-annealed at 600°C were studied in a wide temperature range. The magnetic domains with either in-plane- or out-of-plane-orientation of the vector of spontaneous magnetization were observed in the same film depending on the prehistory. The domains with the in-plane magnetization were found to be more stable. Magnetization reversal of the film was shown to occur via the nucleation and motion of 180-degree head-to-head domain walls, the number and the type of which were found to be dependent on temperature. Moreover, the transition between two magnetization reversal regimes was found at 30 K.

Switching magnetization magnetic force microscopy (SM-MFM) is based on two-pass magnetic force microscopy with opposite orientation of tip magnetization between two scans. The sum of the scanned data with reversed tip magnetization depicts local van der Waals forces, and their difference maps the local magnetic forces. Tip magnetization can be easily reversed in external magnetic field during the scanning. The separation of the forces mapped enables scanning in close proximity of the sample (~5 nm). Therefore, extremely high spatial resolution (10 nm) is achievable by the SM-MFM. Image phase resolution of the MFM method depends on various geometric parameters of the tip, such as tip length, its apex radius and taper angle. The parameters are determined by the evaporation process, within which the standard atomic force microscopy tips are coated with magnetic layer. In this work we show that the thickness of the coated layer is important for the SM-MFM spatial resolution.

Opis:
Using the Green function method there has been presented the mathematical description of dilute two sub-lattice metamagnets with ferro- and antiferromagnetic exchange interactions. The Green function averaging procedure is based on the Cumulant Expansion Technique and includes any localized Green function irrespectively of the decoupling algorithm making the chain system of equations self-consistent. The derived form of the averaged Green function is the base for the analysis of magnetization processes and phase transitions occurring in the system under the influence of external magnetic field. It has been found in particular that the tricritical point and the second-order phase transition vanish when concentrations of magnetic atoms coupled with different sub-lattice points become different.

Opis:
Basing our considerations on magnetic equation of state applied to the description of magnetic systems of confined geometry we developed the model of calculations of the electrical resistivity for metallic multilayers. It was shown that in the transport of charge in ferromagnetic material d-electrons play an important role. The key parameters in the presented model are: the width of the electron energy band and the shift of the energy level for two spin orientations as well as the Fermi energy and size of the sample (the thickness of magnetic and nonmagnetic layers and the total number of layers). The presented results of calculations for temperature dependence of magnetoresistance are in qualitative agreement with the available experimental data. The model calculations introduced in this paper can be applied to current-in-plane geometry as well as to current-perpendicular-to-plane geometry. The calculations are valid within the limitations of the resistor network model.

Opis:
Ground-state energy is exactly calculated for the spin-1/2 Heisenberg-Ising bond alternating chain with the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. Under certain condition, which relates a strength of the Ising, Heisenberg and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions, the ground-state energy exhibits an interesting nonanalytic behavior accompanied with a gapless excitation spectrum.
