Opis:
The aim of the article is to present some aesthetic and ideological relationships between different cultural texts - the painting of Józef Chełmoński entitled Babie lato (Indian Summer, 1875) and its poetic ekphrasis with the same title written by Michalina Chełmońska-Szczepankowka (1937). The article describes cultural axiology and poetic sense of the perception of the painting which focuses on the visual theme of Indian summer. The presented interpretation demonstrates that the ideological message of the poem comprises the symbols of the Indian summer inspired by the poetics of the painting, namely praise of freedom, imagination and creative artistic thrust, which people derive directly from both the beauty of their native land and the truth about the order of life imposed by the natural law of the motherland, irrespective of its social and economic situation as well as its historical conditions.

„Doktor (po)zostaje!”: Janusz Korczak jako postać literackaArtykuł bada, jak reprezentowana jest postać literacka Janusza Korczaka w europejskiej literaturze dla dzieci i młodzieży na przestrzeni ostatnich czterdziestu lat. Równocześnie wskazuje na plurimedialność literatury dla dzieci i młodzieży jako medium pamięci, w którym przywołuje się Szoah zarówno na poziomie tekstu, jak i obrazu. W artykule w sposób szczególny podkreślony został transnarodowy charakter tej literatury, manifestujący się także w licznych tłumaczeniach opowieści o Januszu Korczaku. Poprzez tłumaczenia teksty te stają się częścią wielu literatur – można tu zastosować termin „literatury światowej” – wpisujących się nie tylko w narodową czy binarodową, ale także globalną pamięć kulturową. „Der Doktor bleibt!“: Janusz Korczak als literarische FigurDer Beitrag untersucht die literarische Repräsentation von Janusz Korczak in der europäischen Kinder- und Jugendliteratur der vergangenen vierzig Jahre. Dabei wird zugleich auf die Besonderheiten von Kinder- und Jugendliteratur als ein genuin plurimediales Erinnerungsmedium eingegangen, in dem sowohl auf Text- und auf Bildebene an die Shoah erinnert wird. In besonderer Weise perspektiviert wird außerdem der transnationale Charakter von Kinder- und Jugendliteratur, der sich auch in den zahlreichen Erzählungen über Janusz Korczak manifestiert. Durch den Akt von wechselseitigen Übersetzungen werden die Texte zu einem Bestandteil mehrerer Literaturen, so dass hier durchaus von Weltliteratur in dem Sinne gesprochen werden kann, dass sie sich nicht nur in ein nationales oder bi-nationales, sondern in ein globales kulturelles Gedächtnis einschreiben.
This paper analyses the literary representation of Janusz Korczak in children’s literature of the past 40 years. The characteristics of children’s literature as a truly multimedia means of remembrance play a role when both words and pictures commemorate the Shoah. The many stories about Janusz Korczak can also point us towards the transnational character of children’s literature. Through translation, these stories become part of multiple (national) literatures, so that we can actually speak of a world literature that is not only part of a national or bi-national memory, but of a global, cultural one.

Der Beitrag geht der Frage der literarischen Darstellung von Adoleszenz in Verbindung mit der Migration nach. Das Thema ist sowohl wissenschaftlich, publizistisch, als auch literarisch weitgehend unerforscht. Dabei sind beide Prozesse einander äußerst ähnlich und können in Verbindung miteinander zu großen Störungen der Persönlichkeit sowie enormer Überforderung des jungen Menschen führen. Die Hauptfigur des Textes, ein adoleszentes Mädchen, durchlebt nach ihrer Ankunft in Deutschland Veränderungen auf sämtlichen Ebenen ihres Daseins. Im Beitrag geht es darum, aufzuzeigen, auf welche Aspekte die Aufmerksamkeit der Leser gerichtet wird und wie diese erzähltechnisch dargestellt werden.
Artykuł poświęcony jest przedstawieniu problemu adolescencji w połączeniu z migracją. Temat ten pozostaje niezbadany naukowo czy publicystycznie, nie był częstym tematem dzieł literackich. Oba te procesy są jednak niezwykle zbliżone i w połączeniu ze sobą mogą prowadzić do znaczących zaburzeń osobowości oraz przytłaczać młodego człowieka. Główna bohaterka powieści, dorastająca dziewczyna, przeżywa po przyjeździe do Niemiec zmiany dotyczące niemalże każdego aspektu jej egzystencji. Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, na jakie aspekty zwraca uwagę autorka, jak również przy pomocy jakich środków narracji.
The paper deals with the question of the literary representation of adolescence in connection with migration. The topic is largely unexplored, scientifically, journalistically and literarily. Both processes are extremely similar to each other and, combined with each other, can lead to great disturbances of the personality and enormous overburdening of the young person. The main character of the text, an adolescent girl, is experiencing changes on all levels of her existence when she arrives in Germany. The paper aims to show which aspects the reader’s attention is focused on and how they are presented in a narrative manner.

Artykuł jest próbą ukazania sytuacji literatury dla dzieci i młodzieży w pierwszym okresie po zakończeniu II wojny światowej. Na podstawie materiałów Szczecińskiego Plenum Zarządu Głównego Związku Literatów Polskich, które odbyło się w sierpniu 1951 r., zarysowano poglądy władzy politycznej wobec książek adresowanych do młodzieży. Tendencje te, pomimo pewnych zmian i z różnym nasileniem, kontynuowane były przez cały okres Polski Ludowej.
The article is an attempt at showing the situation of literature for children and youth during the first years after the conclusion of World War II. Based on the materials from the Szczecin Plenum of the Principal Board of Polish Writers, which was held in August 1951, the views of the political leadership on the literature for youth were outlined. These tendencies, with certain changes and varying intensity, continued throughout the Polish People’s Republic period.

Opis:
The article discusses the principles of collecting collections for public libraries for children and youth and school libraries. The qualitative analysis was based on the list of titles of books that were planned to buy 44 school libraries in 2014 as part of the government subsidy. The collected material is divided into the following categories: school reading, literature classics for children, poetry, fairy tales, books for children, Grzegorz Kasdepke's books, literature for children, literature, fantasy, educational books, history and biographies, and others. Most often libraries planned to buy school books, educational books (dictionaries, encyclopedias). From the literature, it was usually planned to buy fantasy books, novels for girls and works by authors such as Paweł Beręsewicz, Marcin Pałasz, Barbara Gawryluk, Renata Piątkowska, Małgorzata Strzałkowska. It was also planned to buy books that were screened and advertised in youth magazines. The analysis shows that the collections of school libraries and public libraries for children and youth respond to the reading needs of this group of recipients.
W artykule omówiono zasady gromadzenia zbiorów do bibliotek publicznych dla dzieci i młodzieży oraz bibliotek szkolnych. Do analizy jakościowej wykorzystano listy tytułów książek, jakie planowały kupić 44 biblioteki szkolne w 2014 r. w ramach dotacji rządowej. Zgromadzony materiał podzielono na następujące kategorie: lektury szkolne, klasyka literatury dla dzieci, poezja, baśnie, książki dla najmłodszych, książki Grzegorza Kasdepke, literatura dla najmłodszych, literatura obyczajowa, fantasy, książki edukacyjne, historia i biografie, i inne. Najczęściej biblioteki planowały kupić lektury szkolne, książki edukacyjne (słowniki, encyklopedie). Z literatury pięknej najczęściej planowano kupić książki z gatunku fantasy, powieści dla dziewcząt oraz utwory takich autorów jak m. in. Paweł Beręsewicz, Barbara Gawryluk, Marcin Pałasz, Renata Piątkowska, Małgorzata Strzałkowska. Chętnie kupowano książki ekranizowane i reklamowane w czasopismach młodzieżowych. Z przeprowadzonej analizy wynika, że księgozbiory bibliotek szkolnych i bibliotek publicznych dla dzieci i młodzieży odpowiadają na potrzeby czytelnicze tej grupy odbiorców.

Purpose The aim of this study was to determine frequency and distribution of sports- and recreation-related injuries (SRIs) affecting children and adolescents who visited a northern tier regional medical center emergency department during a 15-year period. Material and methods A descriptive epidemiologic design was employed to retrospectively examine age, gender, month and year of injury, location of injury, sport/recreational activity, mechanism of injury, type and severity of injury, hospital admission and length of stay. Frequency of reported injuries were compared in categories of single factors using Chi-square tests of homogeneity. The impact of risk factors – gender, age class, and sport/activity – on incidence ratios were analyzed via Poisson regression. All statistical analyses were run in R. Results Findings heretofore unreported or inconsistent with previous emergency department (ED) studies include a peak injury occurrence of SRIs during September; a preponderance of head/neck injuries and fractures and a higher percent of admitted patients; frequent occurrence of ice hockey injuries; increased severity of injury during ages 10-14; and a trend during 2000-2014 showing increased injury rate of various types of recreational injuries. Findings consistent with previous ED studies included variable distribution of injuries by age, gender and sport/activity; increased frequency of SRIs during ages 12-15 years and during the warmer months of the year; and trends of increased frequency of SRIs affecting females, increased injury rate of closed head injuries, and decreased occurrence of bicycle injuries during the study period. Further to these findings, several suggestions are made to inform and guide local injury prevention efforts and further research. Conclusions Our study results provide information on a region-specific occurrence and distribution of SRIs in a northern tier hospital catchment area that can be valuable to guide regional injury prevention efforts and further research to evaluate specific patterns identified and success of prevention efforts.

Powszechny dostęp do internetu generuje dużą aktywność, szczególnie dzieci i młodzieży, w zakresie korzystania z jego zasobów. Internet może stwarzać szansę dla rozwoju człowieka, ale też stać się źródłem wielu zagrożeń, głównie dla jego najmłodszych użytkowników. Skutki korzystania z internetu są determinowane przede wszystkim przez czas, jaki poświęca się na „bycie w sieci”, oraz jakość treści, z którymi się tam styka, i działania, jakie się podejmuje. W artykule przedstawione są wyniki badań dotyczące aktywności internetowej dzieci i młodzieży na różnych etapach edukacyjnych. Na podstawie analizy wyników badań podjęto próbę przedstawienia wskazań dla pracy pedagogicznej skierowanej na minimalizowanie zagrożeń wynikających z nieświadomego korzystania z sieci.
Common access to the Internet brings huge activity, especially among kids and youth, in the aspect of using its resources. Internet may give an opportunity to develop a person but may be a source of many dangers, especially for its youngest users. The results of using the Internet are appointed by the time which is spent being „online” and the quality of the content which are encountered and actions taken. In the elaboration some results of research concerning children’s and youth’s Internet activity on different educational levels. On the grounds of the analysis I attempted to present indications to pedagogical work directed to minimise dangers consequent of unaware using the Internet.

During the partitions in the Polish lands and among the Poles living abroad (inGermanyand theUnited States), at least 25 magazines were published, which, through their titles or subtitles, indicated that they were the abstinent periodicals. They are a valuable but still not fully used source of research on the history of addictions, especially alcoholism. The years 1918–1939 brought the new abstinent periodicals, among which there were two magazines fromLublinon anti-alcohol content, discussed in this article. They appeared on the initiative of the local organizations promoting sobriety among children, youth and teachers, i.e. Blue Youth and the Circle of Teachers of Abstains of theLublinSchool District.
W okresie zaborów na ziemiach polskich oraz wśród Polonii za granicą (w Niemczech i Stanach Zjednoczonych) ukazywało się co najmniej 25 czasopism, które poprzez swe tytuły czy podtytuły wskazują, że są to periodyki abstynenckie. Stanowią one cenne, ale wciąż mało wykorzystane źródło do badań nad historią uzależnień, a zwłaszcza alkoholizmem. Lata 1918–1939 przynoszą nowe abstynenckie periodyki, wśród których znajdują się dwa omówione w niniejszym artykule lubelskie pisemka o treściach antyalkoholowych. Ukazywały się one z inicjatywy miejscowych organizacji popularyzujących trzeźwość wśród dzieci, młodzieży i nauczycieli, czyli Młodzieży Błękitnej oraz Koła Nauczycieli Abstynentów Okręgu Szkolnego Lubelskiego.

Autorka tekstu wychodzi od rozważań skupionych na zagadnieniach teoretycznoliterackich, konkretnie zaś na kategorii bohatera książek dla dzieci i młodzieży oraz oddziaływaniu postaci na odbiorców. Następnie przedstawia wybrane wyniki badań empirycznych, które przynoszą odpowiedź na główne pytanie badawcze: jak bohaterowie prozy dla dzieci i młodzieży wpływają na młodych czytelników? Prezentuje rezultaty prowadzonych przez kilka lat badań nad szkolną recepcją baśni oraz wyniki sondażu diagnostycznego z 2019 roku. Ten ostatni polegał na gromadzeniu pisemnych wspomnień przyszłych nauczycieli polonistów na temat oddziaływania na nich bohaterów prozy dla dzieci i młodzieży w okresie, gdy byli niedorosłymi czytelnikami. Zebrany materiał empiryczny jest bogaty i daje możliwość odpowiedzi na główne pytanie badawcze. Staje się również podstawą wielostronnych refleksji m.in. nad zadaniami nauczyciela polonisty.
The Author starts from considerations focused on theoretical and literary issues, particularly on the literary heroes category as well as heroes in books for children and youth and the influence thereof on readers. Then she introduces selected results of empirical research which provides answers to main research questions: how heroes in children’s and youth prose influence on teenager readers? She presents results of the research that she has been carrying out for several years on the school perception of fairytales as well as results of the diagnostic survey of 2019. The latter consisted in gathering written reminiscence of future Polish teachers about the impact of their heroes from children’s and youth books on them when they were teenagers. The gathered empirical material is rich and provides a possibility to give an answer to main research questions. It shall also constitute a basis for reflections on a role of their heroes from children’s and youth books or tasks of a Polish teacher.

Slovenská prekladová literatúra disponuje reprezentatívnym výberom z tvorby chorvátskych autorov literatúry pre deti a mládež počnúc od konca 19. storočia až po súčasnosť (I. Brlićová Mažuranićová, V. Nazor, M. Lovrak, I. Kušan, Lj. Bauer, J. Horvat, H. Hitrec, Đ. Zrakić, J. Cvenić, S. Tomaš, A. Gardaš, Z. Balog). Slovenské preklady diel uvedených autorov sa uverejňovali na Slovensku, ale aj vo Vojvodine, v Srbsku. K najvýznamnejším slovenským prekladateľom, ktorí sa venovali a venujú popri literatúre pre dospelého recipienta aj dielam určeným pre detského čitateľa, patria Zlatko Klátik, Juraj Tušiak, Andrej Vrbacký, Rudo Brtáň, Peter Čačko, Michal Nadubinský, Ján Jankovič a iní. Prekladatelia sa nechávali ovplyvňovať pri výbere chorvátskych autorov pre svoj preklad jednak domácou recepciou autora, ale aj vlastným záujmom o túto literatúru.

The most significant translators focusing on the translation of juvenile literature are Zlatko Klátik, Juraj Tušiak, Andrej Vrbacký, Rudo Brtáň, Peter Čačko, Michal Nadubinský, Ján Jankovič and others. Translators were influenced in their selection of Croatian authors by their reputation but also by the translators‘ personal interest in the literature.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to show how the repertoire of translations of Polish literature for children and young people in Croatia and Serbia has changed over the last thirty years. The author presents the changes that have taken place on the book market in both countries, and then shows which books by Polish authors are of particular interest to local publishers and turning points in the history of Polish children's books in these two countries in the analyzed period. The attention was focused on the activities of small publishing houses, which can be called “Lilliputians” such as: Srednja Europa and Planet Zoe from Croatia, and Propolis Books and Kozikas from Serbia. The text shows what quantitative and qualitative changes took place with the appearance of the above-mentioned publishers, who focus on children's literature of small languages, rarely found on bookstores. The analysis of their activities was carried out on the basis of Itamar Even-Zohar's theory of cultural repertoire, during which it was proved that the role played by these publishers in the process of shaping and modifying the repertoire of translations of Polish literature for children in both countries can be identified with the role of idea-makers.

Artykuł analizuje obrzędy i zwyczaje religijne, które wpisywały się w kanon treści religijnych, stanowiących istotny element galicyjskich publikacji prasowych dla dzieci i młodzieży. Najczęściej były one powiązane z kalendarzem świąt katolickich. Adresowane do najmłodszych czytelników, ukazywały często w swym edukacyjnym wymiarze bogactwo kulturowe społeczeństwa galicyjskiego XIX i początków XX w., mocno osadzone w ludowej tradycji religijnej.
The article analyzes religious rituals and customs that were part of the religious content found in Galician press publications for children and youth. These rituals and customs were often associated with the Catholic liturgical calendar. Aimed at the youngest readers, these publications frequently presented the cultural richness of Galician society in the 19th and early 20th centuries, strongly rooted in folk religious traditions, in an educational context.

The article concerns considering the phenomenon of cyberagression in the context of the threat to the digital safety of children and youth. It is a problem that all people using the Internet must be aware of, including teachers, in order to be able to effectively implement actions enhancing the digital competence of the young generation. The main aim of the article was to present the scale of the cyberagression phenomenon, as well as to present research on the awareness of the occurrence of this problem among junior high school teachers from the city of Opole.
Artykuł dotyczy rozważań nad zjawiskiem cyberagresji w kontekście zagrożenia bezpieczeństwa cyfrowego dzieci i młodzieży. Jest to problem, którego muszą być świadome wszystkie osoby korzystające z internetu, w tym nauczyciele, aby mogli skutecznie realizować działania zwiększające kompetencje cyfrowe młodego pokolenia. Głównym celem opracowania było przedstawienie skali zjawiska cyberagresji oraz zaprezentowanie badań dotyczących świadomości występowania tego problemu wśród nauczycieli szkół gimnazjalnych z terenu miasta Opole.

Artykuł, wychodząc od wyników badań empirycznych śledzących motywacje czytelnicze uczniów w relacji do osiągnięć edukacyjnych, analizuje właściwości zaangażowania czytelniczego. Rozpatrywane są okoliczności sprzyjające zaangażowaniu czytelniczemu jako postawie niwelującej nierówności edukacyjne. Poddane zostały dyskusji możliwe działania dydaktyczne, które pozwoliłyby na rozwijanie motywacji czytelniczych uczniów. Wśród najistotniejszych przesłanek wskazujących na okoliczności budujące taką postawę jest ciekawość, zainteresowanie czytanym tekstem oraz umiejętność czerpania satysfakcji z recepcji złożonych narracji, także fikcjonalnych. Synergia między lekturami szkolnymi i pozaszkolnymi może stanowić taką szansę. Dyskusja na lekcji języka polskiego to najlepszy sposób uruchomienia społecznego wymiaru motywacji czytelniczych – relacje rówieśnicze mogą zostać wykorzystane do budowania zaangażowania czytelniczego.
Starting from the results of empirical research on students’ reading motivations in relation to educational achievements, this article analyzes the properties of reading engagement. The circumstances conducive to reading engagement are considered as an attitude that eliminates educational inequalities. Possible didactic activities that would allow to develop students’ reading motivations were discussed. Among the most important premises indicating the circumstances building such an attitude is curiosity, interest in the text being read and the ability to derive satisfaction from the reception of complex narratives, including fictional ones. Synergy between school and beyond school duties reading can be such an opportunity. Discussion in a Polish language lesson is the best way to activate the social dimension of reading motivations – peer relationships can be used to build reading engagement.

The main objective of this study is to reconstruct the long-term strategy of Gallimard Jeunesse, a major French publisher of books for children and youth, which has consisted of a constant planning, restructuring and revitalisation of more than a dozen collections and series published under the label of ‘Découvertes’ from 1983 until today. The history of this wide-ranging project – one of the largest publishing project of the last decades – provides a picture of the evolution of the publication model of contemporary non-fiction books for children. We will therefore focus on the size of the analysed collections, the evolution of their editorial form and texts – for example, the presence and function of illustrations and/or auxiliary parts of the books – as well as the age of their readers, the relationship between translations and French production, and international and inter-institutional co-publishing ventures. Presenting the most interesting and innovative examples of typographic and graphic solutions implemented by the publisher will also provide important information, as these solutions have been widely imitated.
