Two-dimensional simulations were conducted for JP-10 mono-dispersed vapour-droplet detonation in air, based on the detonation mechanism for clouds and validation of the extending critical droplet size limits in previous tests. In the simulations, the discrete phase model combined with the droplet evaporation and droplet breakup models was used. Utilizing a wide range of mono-dispersed droplet sizes and initial droplet concentrations, all cases of JP-10 droplets with a certain amount of pre-vaporized fuel can successfully achieve the deflagration to detonation transition. Detonation velocities at the equivalent concentration with droplet diameters no larger than 50 μm are in good agreement with the theoretical detonation velocities. The effects of droplet size and initial droplet concentration on the detonation behaviour were also investigated. Detonation velocities attained with droplet diameters below 50 μm appear to decrease very slightly with droplet size, but are almost equal to the velocity in gases. When the droplet diameter is above 50 μm, there is a decrease in simulated detonation velocity compared with fine droplets, and no secondary pressure peak was observed. For fuel-rich combustion, detonation velocities decrease rapidly with an increase in initial droplet concentration, and post-wave pressure fluctuation was obviously irregular, caused by the secondary local explosion of the droplets.

This paper describes flammability measurements and data on the missile fuel, JP-10. The measurements include maximum explosion pressure, maximum rate of pressure rise and limiting flammability concentrations. Through a series experiments, the influences of the concentration of gaseous JP-10 in air on the explosion pressure and on the rate of explosion pressure rise have been analyzed, and the results are discussed. The explosion pressure of gaseous JP-10/air mixtures reached their highest values within the studied range at a concentration of 1.88%. The variation trends in the explosion pressure and the rate of pressure rise of gaseous JP-10/air mixtures with volume % appear similar. When the volume % of gaseous JP-10 lies in the range 0.5-1.8%, the explosion pressure and the rate of pressure rise for gaseous JP-10/air mixtures increase with the volume %, while in the range 1.8-5% these parameters decrease with the volume %. The flammability limits of gaseous JP-10/air mixtures are near those of gaseous n-decane/air mixtures. However, the maximum explosion pressure and the maximum rate of pressure rise of gaseous JP-10/air mixtures are much higher than those of gaseous n-decane/air mixtures.

In the article a sensitivity analysis of linear and nonlinear terms in the Kozeny-Carman and Ergun equations was shown. In the first case the impact of the porosity, tortuosity, specific surface of the porous body and the model constant was investigated. In the second case the porosity, the particle diameter and the sphericity function were taken into account. To express the model sensitivity by numbers, an earlier developed method was used. In this way the order and the importance of the impact of individual parameters was determined. The motivations to create this article were questions, which occurred during developing a novel investigation method, linking the Discrete Element Method and the CFD techniques. The first aim was to predict what will happen, if individual parameters will be set with an error: which data should be set as accurately as possible and which data are not very important for the result value. The second intention was to state which of parameters used in porous media investigations should be expressed by functions and which by constant values. The article may be treated as set of pointers helping in using of Kozeny-Carman and Ergun laws or as an example of research methodology based on the sensitivity analysis.

We use Brownian dynamics simulations to study the adsorption behavior of a nanosized particle on polymer brushes. The adsorption process, the dynamic behavior of the nanoparticle in brush, the penetration depth, and the diffusion coefficient of the nanoparticle in different depths of the brush are all investigated for different grafting densities. We provide an area density Γp, which is the area average of the monomer number above the embedded nanoparticle in brush. We find that this area density explains well qualitatively the experimental phenomenon that the nanoparticles exhibit a maximum in the adsorbed amount as a function of the grafting density of brush.

The data reported shows that the Chapman-Jouguet (CJ) detonation parameters of non-ideal explosives calculated from existing thermodynamic computer codes are significantly different from experimental results. We use CJ detonation theory to present a new approach predicting detonation pressure and velocity of aluminized explosives by thermodynamic detonation theory. There is no need to use the assumption of full and partial equilibrium of aluminum powder in reaction zones in the new approach. In this work the best agreement with experimental data was obtained by adjusting the parameter k in the Becker- Kistiakosky-Wilson equations of state (BKW-EOS). The detonation pressure and velocity values calculated by the present method agree well with the experimental results. All of the deviations for the calculated pressures of aluminized explosives are less than 9% and those for the detonation velocities are less than 7%.

Opis:
The heat of explosion is one of the most important thermodynamic parameters of aluminized explosives. Two improvements in numerical calculations to predict the behaviour of the explosion of non-ideal aluminized explosives were completed in this work. The chemical reaction between aluminum and the C-J detonation products of high energy ingredients was determined and the equation of state for the detonation products of high energy ingredients was revised. The constant k in the BKW equation was revised to obtain perfect results for predicting the C-J parameters for high energy ingredients. The predicted results show that the heats and temperatures of aluminized explosives become maximized when the mass fraction of aluminum powder is 30%, which is in good agreement with the results obtained by empirical formulae.

We begin with a pair of spherical particles encapsulated in a micelle and solve the problem within the self-consistent field theory to investigate the morphology transformation of the micelle induced by two nano-particles. The micelles are based on amphiphilic diblock copolymer AB in homopolymer A solvents. The nano-particles are simple models of proteins or colloids. We predict different micelle structures, and relate these morphologies to particle sizes, distances between two particles, and chemical potentials of the amphiphile molecules. There are found complex structures of the micelle induced by the twin particles: many reverse micelles only with even numbers or only one micelle attached at one of the two particles. These results are of immediate interests to the interactions of micelles and particles, as well as to the transitions between vesicles and micelles.

Oujiang Estuary is a complex tidal estuary with many channels and shoals in the East China Sea, which was affected by typhoon frequently. The navigation channel of Wenzhou Port is located in the north branch of Oujiang Estuary, which happened serious sediment siltation in many times due to typhoon impact. The regulation is considered to decrease siltaion of the channel and protect shoals as well. According to the site survey data, the mathematic model is established and validated, which simulates the hydrodynamic, sediment transport and channel siltation due to typhoon in Oujiang Estuary. The channel regulation scenario is studied by the model simulation after analysis of the silation character. It indicates that the high concentration sediment from shoals north of channel is main sediment source caused siltation in the channel, which can be prevented into the channel by the regulation scenario and decrease siltation efficiently.

To study the influence of the random load on the V-lock chain ring for mining, the numerical simulation technology is used. The dynamic tension is obtained by using the dynamic model of the plough. The life and damage nephograms are obtained by using ANSYS Workbench. The analysis results show that the short fatigue life region of the V-lock chain ring for mining is mainly concentrated on the transition region between the medial straight edge and arc, and the fatigue damage of the link chain on the side of the motion direction of the plow head is larger than that on the other side. This link chain has strong anti-fatigue performance.

Fuzzy cellular neural networks with time-varying delays are considered. Some sufficient conditions for the existence and exponential stability of periodic solutions are obtained by using the continuation theorem based on the coincidence degree and the differential inequality technique. The sufficient conditions are easy to use in pattern recognition and automatic control. Finally, an example is given to show the feasibility and effectiveness of our methods.

The matrix rectifier modulated by the classical space vector modulation (SVM) strategy generates common-mode voltage (CMV). The high magnitude and high du/dt of the CMV causes serious problems such as motor damage, electromagnetic noise and many others. In this paper, an improved SVM strategy is proposed by replacing the zero vectors with suitable couple of active ones that substantially eliminate the CMV. Theoretical analysis proves that the proposed strategy can reduce the amplitude of the CMV to half of the original value. In addition, the quality of the input and output waveforms is not affected by extra active vectors. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed strategy are shown.

Removal of two acidic pharmaceuticals, clofibric acid and diclofenac, present in sewage sludge using two kinds of anaerobic digestions was investigated. The effective isolation and purification pretreatment to extract the target compounds from the sewage sludge samples was firstly established, followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis to identify and quantify them. Under mesophilic conditions, the removal efficiencies for clofibric acid and diclofenac with the initial concentrations of 5 μg /dm3 were up to 95% and 97%. After thermophilic anaerobic digestion, the removal efficiency could be increased to 99.3% for clofibric acid, however, it did not increase for diclofenac. In general, anaerobic digestion could effectively remove the target compounds from the sewage sludge (all above 90%).

Opis:
Water stress and provenance could affect the secondary metabolites synthesis and accumulation in herbs. Thus, this study explored the effect of soil water moisture and provenance on the growth of Paris polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis (PPY). Three provenances (Jinping, Luquan and Weixi in Yunnan, China) of PPY samples were grown in different soil water moisture conditions [0.80, 0.70 and 0.50 field capacity (FC)] during Dec. 2015 to Sep. 2017. Results showed that the highest biomass weight was presented in 0.70 FC for Luquan and Weixi samples. Biomass weight for Jinping provenance presented a decreasing tendency with the decreased soil water moisture and the highest biomass were shown in 0.80 FC. However, quantitative analysis revealed that the total content of polyphyllin increased with decreasing the soil water moisture for Jinping and Weixi samples. The highest total content of polyphyllin in rhizome was inclined to show in Jinping samples, while the stem and leaf tissues were shown in Weixi samples. Additionally, results of ANOVA combined with PCA indicated that the difference among these three provenances were significant. Correlation analysis results revealed that 0.50 FC induced the competitive relationship occurrence for polyphyllin distribution. Thus, 0.70 FC was the most suitable soil-water condition for PPY growth. Besides, provenance collected from Jinping could consider as a good quality germplasm. Consequently, this study might provide a preliminary foundation for irrigation project formulated and provenance screened for PPY cultivation.

The wave motion equations of a tapered beam with respect to axial, torsional and flexural deformations are deduced including the transmission and waveguide equations. Combining the force equilibrium and displacement coordination conditions at the junction, we obtain the relation between the wavenumber and frequency, and the band gap properties of periodic tapered beam structures by the Bloch theorem. The modeling accuracy and efficiency of the traveling wave method are verified by the finite element method. The band gap properties of periodic tampered and uniform beam structures are analyzed and compared for the same materials and lengths as well as the same volumes.

Bimetallic oxalate ${[N-(n-C_4H_9)_4][FeFe(C_2O_4)_3]}_{n}$ has been investigated by the Mössbauer spectroscopy. The Mössbauer studies confirm that high-spin Fe(III) (S=5/2) and Fe(II) (S=2) ions are present in the compound. These spectra above 60 K consist of three quadrupole doublets, indicating that there are three different Fe sites in the material. The Mössbauer results reveal that spontaneous magnetization of Fe(II) sublattices increases more steeply than that of Fe(III) sublattices as the temperature decreases from $T_{C}$. Great increase of quadrupole splitting at 50 K provides compelling evidence for the predicted Jahn-Teller transition.
