The paper focuses on the documentary aspect of a letter as a speech genre. The corpus comprises the letters exchanged between Wisława Szymborska and Kornel Filipowicz, written between 1966 and 1985. The study aims toanalyse how the participants of the epistolary dialogue present historic and social issues, and to what extent a private letter may serve memory. The analysis proves that the topics in the texts revolve around every day and ordinary issues – important only for the correspondents. Historical facts and social affairs are reported selectively, always from the sender’s point of view, and in relation to the addressee and the circumstances. They are often expressed in a disguised form (by means of allusion, understatement, joke, irony) which is determined by two factors: the fear of censorship and the correspondents’ literary abilities and their similar personality traits. The data reveals that a letter – considered as one’s account of events and a secondary mnemonic genre – may serve memory onlyin some ways but not completely because it “remembers” the past in a relative and limited way.

The aim of this paper is to present the US–THEM opposition (which is important in the study of the linguistic image of the world) in a particular autobiographical statement, that is, in the notes of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska written during the years 1939–1945. After the reconstruction of the image of her family, countrymen, and foreigners captured in the text, one may conclude that the boundaries between the US–THEM categories seem to blur. Thus, the US–THEM status is not constant. It is important to emphasise that the choice of specific markers of foreignness and closeness is strictly related to the author’s value-system. It can be seen from the data that the US comprises a small circle of people, to whom she is bound, and who share similar ways of perceiving the world, and who give her a sense of security. The THEM, on the other hand, are those people with whom the poet is unable to communicate – in the literal and metaphorical sense. The analysis also allow to see the influence of external conditions on the author’s various style choices. The text is strongly marked by subjectivity and reveals emotional and evaluative attitude of the speaking subject towards the reality presented. It is due to the use of such stylistic devices as: emotionally coloured lexicon, metaphors containing evaluating elements, code-switching, interjections, etc.

The subject of the study is the minutes of meetings preserved in manuscripts from  thesecond half of the 19th century. The article describes factors associated with the stylistic multiplicity of these texts: a complex system of communication intentions, references toother genres, minutes-specific configuration of stylistic features. This is followed by a description of diverse origins of the used stylistic means, collision of stylistic registers, as well as the typical selection limits. The analyses lead to the conclusion that the scope of the nineteenth-century minutes of meetings stylistic multiplicity is: 1) predictable, determined by the situational and cultural context (society’s profile, its aims and functions, historical determinants); 2) limited, but clearly wider than the one resulting from the minutes stylistic appurtenance and one provided for the genre (as well as forthe sub-genre) by authors of contemporary normative studies.

These discussions fall into the stream of studies on pragmatic aspects of linguistic communication, are connected with the research on family language/style, familect, privacy discourse. Based on an analysis of the texts by and about the Kossak family (letters, notes, memoirs, biographical stories), this paper outlines selected aspects of interfamily communication: favourite expressions and humorous stylisation devices. The analysis has permitted the observation that the Kossak family’s statements are abundant with (positive and negative) linguistic expression devices, contain encrypted elements, and are characterised by high creativity. The addressee’s astonishment and amusement seems to be the main intention of a majority of the analysed linguistic behaviours.

Przedmiotem analiz są dokumenty (protokoły, sprawozdania, statuty) oświatowych stowarzyszeń kobiecych, które powstały pod koniec XIX w. na terenie zaboru austriackiego i pruskiego. Zachowania językowe utrwalone w tekstach odzwierciedlają przestrzeganie wartości fundamentalnych, etosowych, związanych z narodową tradycją funkcjonowania wartości w polskim społeczeństwie (patriotyzm, wolność, religia) oraz wartości wynikających z filozofii epoki (praca dla dobra ogółu). Ujawniają także funkcjonowanie obyczajów środowiskowych, form zachowania przyjętych i aprobowanych w obrębie małych wspólnot komunikatywnych (np. solidarność kobieca, solidarność zawodowa). Pierwsze z nich są przede wszystkim świadectwem przynależności do wspólnoty, drugie – istotnym sposobem jej budowania
The subject of a study is the documents (protocols, reports, statutes) of women’s educational associations, which were established in the late 19th century in Prussian and Austrian Partitions. Linguistic behavior preserved in the texts reflect adherence to fundamental and ethos values related to the functioning of the national tradition of values in the Polish society (patriotism, freedom, religion) and the values resulting from the philosophy of the era (work for the public good). They also reveal the functioning of environmental customs, forms of behavior accepted and approved within small communication communities (eg. feminine solidarity, professional solidarity). The first of these is primarily a testimony of belonging to a community, the second – an important way to build it.

The notion of epistolary discourse is understood in this paper as a communicative event reflected in the letter or other varieties of this genre in a specific sender and receiver model. The article presents some features of epistolary discourse with reference to the correspondence between Wisława Szymborska and Kornel Filipowicz. In the first part of the study, the author situates private letters in the discursive reality and introduces the participants of such kind of correspondence. Then, the interactive aspect of epistolary discourse is examined, specifically inner and outer dialogue. After that, the elements of direct dialogue are discussed, e.g. forms of address, forms of metatext and linguistic equivalents of gestures. From the data, it can be assumed that the letters in question contain the typical features of epistolary discourse. However, original and unconventional elements seem to be part of the letters as well (e.g. employing fictitious characters in the correspondence, creating collages, linguistic stylizations, etc.).

The aim of this article is to describe style characteristics of the protocol and make an attempt to determine their hierarchy. The analysis refers to methodological postulates of Maria Wojtak concerning the study on genre style and style of non-literary texts. A set of five manuscripts of Polish societies from the second half of 19th century serves as a materiał for the article. The analysis enables to distinguish features that are determined by the structure and the pragmatics, as well as those connected with the origin of used words and expressions. Among those can be distinguished two primary style characteristics: implementation of templates and concision and five secondary: formality, use of formulas, precision, impersonality and use of directives. Repertoire of features’ exponents is connected with functioning of the protocol genre model (canonical and alternative) and the method of recording (synthetic, narrative). Apart from typical phenomena related to the communication sphere (in which the protocol is situated), common features of non-literary texts (e.g. persuasiveness, suggestiveness) are noticeable. These features are clearly conditioned by circumstances in which particular societies functioned.

In this paper an attempt is made to examine affectionate names defined as substitute forms of proper names typical of private, romantic discourse. The study consists of two parts: The first section is dedicated to discussing and arranging research already done on affectionate language (terminology in use, definitions, affectionate names vs. „affectiva”, the grammar and stylistics of affectionate names, and thematic description). In the second part of the paper linguists’ approaches to affectionate names are verified empirically. The material under investigation is the collection of names used by Wojciech Kossak in his long-term (1883–1942) correspondence with his wife. The analysis confirms scholars’ outcomes in the field regarding: 1) the formal and stylisticdifferentiation of affectionate names, 2) the thematic fields typical of these language units, 3) and the dominance of appellative nicknames. The findings also indicate that the use of so-called terms of endearment depends on the context, giving the speaker some freedom as far as the choice of various language items is concerned. The author of the paper concludes that affectionate names seem to constitute an open set in which lines are blurred. In addition, it is mostly the competence of the participant of intimate communication that influences the form of affectionate names, so that they become typical or original.

Przedmiotem badań są wypowiedzi Wisławy Szymborskiej publikowane w tygodniku „Życie Literackie”. Na łamach czasopisma w latach 1960-1968 przyszła noblistka współprowadziła rubrykę Poczta literacka, w której oceniała próby pisarskie nadsyłane przez czytelników w listach do redakcji. Sporządzając odpowiedzi na listy do redakcji, zachowywała anonimowość i posługiwała się głównie polisemiczną formą „my”. Analiza sposobów uobecniania się podmiotu mówiącego w badanych tekstach pomaga odtworzyć obraz ich nadawcy. Część materiałową artykułu poprzedza krótka charakterystyka rubryki Poczta literacka oraz omawianego gatunku dziennikarskiego.
The aim of the paper is to examine Wisława Szymborska’s texts published in a weekly “Literary Life” [„Życie Literackie”]. From 1960 to 1968 a future Nobel Prize in Literature Laureate was a co-editor of a column called Literary Post. Szymborska evaluated readers’ literary attempts sent in the letters to the editor. She replied to the letters anonymously, by means of a polysemic form “we”. The analysis of the ways the speaker’s presence is revealed in the texts helps to reconstruct the view of the addresser. The empirical part of the paper is preceded with a short description of the column in question as well as the press genre under study.

This paper analyses the influence of the applied microwave power output on the intensification of drying in the context of process kinetics and product quality. The study involved testing samples of beech wood (Fagus sylvatica L.). Wood samples were dried in the microwave chamber at: 168 W, 210 W, 273 W, 336 W and 378 W power output level. For comparison, wood was dried convectively at 40 ◦C and 87% air relative humidity. The analysis of drying process kinetics involved nonlinear regression employing the Gompertz model. Dried samples were subjected to static bending tests in order to specify the influence of the applied microwave power on modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rapture (MOR). The obtained correlations of results were verified statistically. Analysis of drying kinetics, strength test results and Tukey’s test showed that the applied microwaves of a relatively low level significantly shortened the drying time, but did not cause a reduction in the final quality of dried wood, compared with conventional drying.

Intertextuality focuses on the relationship between different texts, either spoken or written. These connections have been the subject of research for many scholars around the world and initially were discussed mainly from the point of view of literary theory (Tomaszkiewicz, 2006, p. 175). The aim of this paper is to examine intertextual references in the context of translation theory, taking into account the various techniques and strategies employed when translating direct or indirect references in a dubbing format. The author analyses dialogues from the DreamWorks production “Shrek” (2001), the Disney films “Zootopia” (2016) and “Wreck-It-Ralph” (2012), as well as the Pixar Animation Studios film “Toy Story 3” (2010) with the aim of identifying intertextual references in the source text and comparing them with their Polish and German translations. The author also considers the sources of intertextuality in animation films and the translator’s role in decontextualizing this genre in the target language, drawing attention to the issue of discourse and the agency of audiovisual translators.
Intertekstualność skupia się na relacjach między tekstami, zarówno mówionymi, jak i pisanymi. Powiązania te są obecnie przedmiotem badań wielu naukowców na całym świecie, choć początkowo analizowane były wyłącznie z punktu widzenia literaturoznawczego (Tomaszkiewicz, 2006, s. 175). Celem artykułu jest analiza odniesień intertekstualnych w kontekście teorii przekładu, a zwłaszcza technik i strategii użytych podczas tłumaczenia dosłownych i pośrednich nawiązań w dubbingu. Analizie poddane zostały dialogi animacji „Shrek” (2001) wytwórni DreamWorks, „Zwierzogród” (2016) i „Ralph Demolka” (2012) Disneya oraz „Toy Story 3” (2010) Pixara w celu zidentyfikowania nawiązań intertekstualnych w tekście źródłowym i ich porównania z polskim i niemieckim tłumaczeniem. Autorka zwraca również uwagę na źródła intertekstualności w filmach animowanych i rolę tłumacza w rekontekstualizacji nawiązań w tekście docelowym, odnosząc się do pojęcia dyskursu i sprawczości tłumacza audiowizualnego.

Powstanie zespołów mobilnych wiąże się z reformą psychiatrycznej opieki zdrowotnej i zmianie modelu leczenia z udzielania opieki w dużych szpitalach psychiatrycznych na rzecz działań realizowanych na poziomie społeczności lokalnej. Zespoły mobilne uzupełniają model podstawowy o usługi docierające do osób, które bez ich wsparcia mogłyby nie uzyskać pomocy, przez co są bardzo istotnym i innowacyjnym elementem środowiskowego modelu opieki psychiatrycznej, pełniącym wiodącą rolę w procesie zdrowienia osób z doświadczeniem kryzysu psychicznego. Głównym celem działalności zespołów mobilnych jest mobilizowanie osób z doświadczeniem kryzysu psychicznego do rozwiązywania swoich problemów w sytuacjach, w których jest to możliwe i osiągalne. W artykule przedstawiono kontekst historyczno-kulturowy wraz z rolą zespołów mobilnych w opiece psychiatrycznej. Przedstawiono  korzyści płynące z udzielenia pomocy bezpośrednio w środowisku klienta oraz scharakteryzowano zadania zespołów mobilnych oraz ich współpracę z otoczeniem społecznym i asystentami zdrowienia.
The emergence of mobile teams is associated with the reform of psychiatric health care and a change in the treatment model from providing care in large psychiatric hospitals to activities implemented at the local community level. Mobile teams complement the basic model with services that reach people who, without their support, might not receive help, which makes them a very important and innovative element of the community model of psychiatric care, playing a leading role in the recovery process of people experiencing a mental crisis. The main goal of the activity of mobile teams is to mobilize people with the experience of mental crisis to solve their problems in situations where it is possible and achievable. The article presents the historical and cultural context along with the role of mobile teams in psychiatric care. The benefits of providing assistance directly in the client's environment are presented, and the tasks of mobile teams and their cooperation with the social environment and healing assistants are characterized.

W niniejszym tekście autorka podjęła próbę analizy początku, jako jedynej opublikowanej do tej pory części, zapowiadanej przez Roberta Schindla powieści Der Kalte (Zimny). Chodziło m. in. o odnalezienie odniesień do wcześniejszych utworów Roberta Schindla, w szczególności zaś do opublikowanej w roku 1992 i przeniesionej na ekran w roku 2001 powieści Gebürtig (Rodowody). Z jednej strony zwrócono uwagę na symbolikę „zimna”, obecną w obu utworach, z drugiej strony na tematykę rozliczenia z narodowosocjalistyczną przeszłością Austrii. W artykule wskazano również na nawiązania w Der Kalte do wcześniejszych tradycji literackich, w tym przypadku do użytej dla wyrażenia własnych treści tradycji romantyzmu.

In the article the results of pilot studies concerning manifestation of sexuality in a group of children and youth with autism spectrum disorder were presented. The research is divided into two fundamental parts. In the first part – the shorter one, definitions and conceptions were outlined. The subject of sexuality and functioning of people with autism spectrum disorders regarding social behaviours was also discussed. In the second part, the findings of own studies conducted on a group of mothers of children and youth with autism spectrum disorder were presented.

This article presents results of a research regarding using the new media by children in their early stage of education. A particular attention has been paid on influencing of home environment factors for the range of using the new media by children as well as individual variables. It has been determined a connection between the child’s gender, his/her achievements, place, parents’ education, family structure, family’s material standing and the range of using the new media by the children. The article presents also, based on the literature about the topic, the researchers’ opinions on a family role in the media education of the child. The paper ends with constatations resulting from the research as well as proposals to involve in work with children.

The aim of this article is to present the results of research into how mothers of individuals with ASD perceive school sex education. The article aims to contribute to the discussion on the need to introduce changes in the Polish education system as far as the area of sexuality is concerned. The study was carried out in two parts, at time intervals. The results were obtained only from mothers, which corresponds with the conclusion that mothers talk about matters of sexuality more often than fathers do and with daughters rather than with sons. The results indicate that mothers want to influence the sex education of their children, at the same time having no knowledge of what topics they are pursuing or can pursue with their child during formal sex education at school (education for living in a family).

Celem niniejszej pracy jest ukazanie zjawiska przestępstwa oszustwa popełnianego metodami „na wnuczka” i „na policjanta”. Przestępstwo oszustwa jest czynem o wysokiej szkodliwości społecznej, którego ofiarami stają się osoby starsze, samotnie zamieszkujące lub w momencie popełnienia przestępstwa przebywające w domu same. W literaturze przedmiotu od dawna wskazuje się, że osoby starsze stanowią preferowaną przez przestępców grupę wiekową, ponieważ wykazują ograniczenia w obszarze funkcjonowania fizycznego, psychicznego i społecznego. Sprawcy, wykorzystując szereg mechanizmów wywierania wpływu społecznego oraz zmieniając sposób działania, doprowadzają osoby starsze do ogromnych strat, nie tylko tych materialnych, ale także psychologicznych (zawiedzione nadzieje na pomoc najbliższym czy też utrata wiary w czyste intencje innych osób) i społecznych (utrata zaufania do ludzi i pogłębiająca się izolacja). Należy zauważyć jeszcze jedną prawidłowość, mianowicie, o ile typowanie osób starszych na ofiary przestępstw jest stałym elementem działań sprawców, o tyle sami sprawcy zmieniają swoje metody działania, dostosowując je do zachodzących zmian społecznych i wiedzy o sposobach naszego funkcjonowania. Sprawcy dysponują doskonałym rozeznaniem, jakie potrzeby są najważniejsze dla potencjalnych ofiar, i wciąż doskonalą swoją wiedzę w obszarze narzędzi wywierania wpływu społecznego. Zmiany sposobu działania sprawców w obrębie przedmiotowych metod wpływają niekorzystnie na wykrywalność przestępstwa przez organy ścigania i wdrażanie działań profilaktycznych. Proceder przestępczy w Polsce trwa kilkanaście lat, a sprawcy, modyfikując sposób działania, uczynili z przestępstwa stałe źródło nielegalnego dochodu.
The purpose of this work is to show the phenomenon of fraud committing methods “grandson” and “policeman”. The offence of fraud is an act of high social harm, which victims become elderly, living alone or being alone in home at the time of committing the offence. In the literature of the subject for a long time it is shown that the elderly are preferred by offenders age group, as they show the limitations in the functioning of the physical, mental and social development. The offender, using a number of mechanisms of social influence and changing the way it operates, lead older people to huge losses, not only the material but also psychological (a letdown for help anytime soon or loss of faith in the pure intentions of other people) and social (loss of confidence in the people and deepening insulation). Note one more accuracy, namely, if the elderly betting on victims of crime is a constant element of the activities of the perpetrators, the offender themselves change their methods of operation, adapting them to the social changes and knowledge about our operation. Perpetrators have a great understanding, what needs are most important for potential victims, and they still improve their knowledge in the area of tools to influence social development. Changes in the behavior of the perpetrators within these methods affect crime detection by law enforcement and the implementation of preventive measures adversely. Practice of criminal in Poland lasts several years, and the offenders, by modifying the method of operation, made the crime a steady source of illicit income.

Uprawa winorośli w Polsce w ostatnich latach zyskuje na znaczeniu, a asortyment dostępnych na rynku odmian deserowych jest coraz szerszy. Jednak nie wszystkie genotypy jednakowo dobrze sprawdzają się w chłodnym klimacie Polski. Zarówno producenci jak i  działkowicze, poszukują sprawdzonych informacji o odmianach i możliwości ich uprawy w określonych warunkach środowiskowych z jak najlepszym skutkiem. Wychodząc naprzeciw tym oczekiwaniom, w winnicy założonej w Sadzie Doświadczalnym w Dąbrowicach (Instytut Ogrodnictwa-PIB w Skierniewicach) przeprowadzono badania, których celem była ocena zimotrwałości, mrozoodporności, podatności na przymrozki i zdrowotności 15 genotypów winorośli deserowej w warunkach klimatyczno-glebowych Polski Centralnej. Szczegółowe obserwacje wykonywano w latach 2019-2021 na krzewach posadzonych w 2004 roku. Najbardziej zimotrwałymi i mrozoodpornymi genotypami okazały się 'Alwood', 'New York Muscat', 'Boskoop Glory', 'Einset' i 'Reliance', które są mieszańcami Vitis vinifera z Vitis labrusca, a najmniej wytrzymałymi na niskie temperatury panujące zimą były odmiany 'Frumoasa Albae', 'Muskat Letni' i 'Palatina' powstałe w procesie złożonego krzyżowania międzygatunkowego. Genotypy z dużą domieszką Vitis amurensis, jak 'Agat Doński' i 'Kristaly' były najczęściej uszkadzane przez przymrozki wiosenne, ale jednocześnie miały wysokie właściwości regeneracyjne. Najbardziej podatna na mączniaka rzekomego i mączniaka prawdziwego była odmiana 'Swenson Red', natomiast na szarą pleśń - 'Reliance' i 'Einset'.
Viticulture in Poland has been developing in recent years, and the list of dessert varieties available for cultivation is expanding. However, not all genotypes perform equally well in cultivation in the cool climate of Poland. Both producers and gardeners are looking for proven information about varieties and the possibility of their growing in specific environmental conditions with the best possible effect. To meet these expectations, in the vineyard established in the Experimental Orchard in Dąbrowice (The National Institute of Horticultural Research in Skierniewice), winter hardiness, frost resistance, susceptibility to spring frost and health status of 15 table grape genotypes in the soil and climate conditions of central Poland were assessed. Detailed observations were made in 2019-2021 on plants planted in 2004. It was found that the most winter-hardy and frost-resistant genotypes were 'Alwood', 'New York Muscat', 'Boskoop Glory', 'Einset', and 'Reliance', which are hybrids of Vitis vinifera with Vitis labrusca. The least resistant to low winter temperatures were the cultivars ' Frumoasa Albae', 'Muskat Letni' and 'Palatina' created in the multi-stage interspecific cross-breeding. Genotypes with a high content of Vitis amurensis genes, such as 'Agat Doński' and 'Kristaly', were most often damaged by spring frosts, but they had high regenerative abilities. ‘Swenson Red’ was most susceptible to downy mildew and powdery mildew, while ‘Reliance’ and ‘Einset’ were most susceptible to gray mold.
