Opis:
Od ponad dwu stuleci Polskę dotyka zjawisko emigracji. Powodowała ją najpierw niewola narodowa wskutek zaborów i kolejne powstania o odzyskanie utraconej niepodległości, które zazwyczaj przegrywane i w efekcie wywołujące dalsze represje zaborców wypychały tysiące Polaków na obczyznę. Treścią artykułu jest obecność kapłana wśród światowej Polonii. Omawiana jest tu także moc sprawcza kultury, duszpasterstwo wśród emigrantów. Szerokiej analizie poddane jest też zagadnienie, gdzie kościół, tam i szkoła. W rozprawie jest mowa o animowaniu kultury polskiej i obyczaju poprzez albo przy okazji opieki duszpasterskiej. Artykuł postuluje konieczność specjalnego przygotowania kapłanów do pracy w konkretnym środowisku. Zastąpienie tego przypadkowością nie tylko problemów duszpasterstwa emigracyjnego nie rozwiązuje, ale często pogłębia trapiące je schorzenia, a w rezultacie deprecjonuje jego rolę.
Since over 2 centuries  Poland deals with the emigration problems. First, it was caused by the partitions of Poland, the national insurrections having as goal the recuperation of Poland’s independence, but mostly unsuccessful, which have caused emigration of many Poles escaping from repressions. The author wants to present the presence of Polish priest within the world Polonia centres. The article is also presenting the worship, pastoral care, and the existence of schools connected with the church, the promotion of  Polish culture, further the need of special preparation for the  mission of those priests they have to fulfil in a concrete milieu and situation. Those undertakings can not be solved by unprofessional means, because it will rather cause mistakes and bad results.

Aim: A child in the history of salvation. Methods: A historical comparative method. Results: Firstly, the child’s situation in the New Testament was demonstrated followed by the view of a young man in the Church Tradition. A lot of place has been given to a child in the extremely hard time of the totalitarian systems of the 20th century. Conclusions: The perversity of the recent indoctrination, allegedly offering human beings happiness is deceiving, because the expectations are not corresponding to the real situation, and therefore, happiness is illusive. In the face of the recent invasion of evil which seems to be omnipotent, Christianity still preaches the Gospel about a child as the immediate way to God. In all places with God in the right place, people cannot bring bad fates upon a child

The problem of the Polish family outside Poland has been present in literature for a long time. It is scattered in scholarly publications, journalism as well as in memoirs. It finds reflection both in Polish and foreign language – especially English – publications. It has often been treated as a thing of minor importance that only accompanied other research.Attention was for the first time drawn to the Polish emigrant family at the international symposium organised by the Institute for Research on Polish Emigrants and Emigrants Pastorate affiliated to the Catholic University of Lublin in 1987. Proceedings of this conference were published in Volume XII of the “Studia Polonijne”. The next, 13th volume of “Studia Polonijne” contains proceedings of the next symposium organised by the above mentioned Institute in 1988. The symposium was devoted to the Polish emigrant youth. The author names a lot of other publications dealing – even marginally – with problems of the Polish family abroad. Literature discussing the subject has not yet achieved full independence. It simply has to react to what historians generally react to, i. e. to the live tissue of particular communities. It also has to look for inspiration in new trends and in new concerns that appear. Only then can it become helpful in recognising various phenomena, create a chance to prevent them and be an inspiration for others.

Aim: To present own thoughts on the processes that accompany fulfilling professorial careers at universities. Methods: Referring to personal experiences both at and out of the university, and drawing on own achievements. Results: Based on own experience, the author presented forecasts related to the “profession” of professor. The author puts forward the thesis that education has a special role to play and therefore should be independent, with less bureaucracy, giving opportunities for creative work and devoting more time to students. Conclusions: The analysis of the topic shows that there is a need to review and suggest assessments to be applied by students of pedagogy and related fields. It also provides an opportunity to generate new topics, especially concerning recent research.

In his process of development, man cannot dispense with such principal values as truth, good, justice, beauty, freedom or happiness. It is, among other things, pedagogy which speaks about that which represents each value. It says how to gain values in human life, and classifies them. It proves that some of them are authentic, others are often seemingly good, and there are also relative values. Thus the whole formative process tends to work in a pupil an ability to make a choice of that which is best among variously understood proposals. The formative process aims at a harmonious integration of the chosen values in a concrete, personal life of man. Pedagogy is thus axiologically oriented, i.e. towards values. The pupil will sooner or later be confronted with the questioning of the principal values. He will face a belief that values are essentially subjective. The man who is incessantly confronted with apparent values, must in the formative process, to which he is subjected while at school, in his family, or in another social setting, face a clear concept of absolute values, fully comprehended by him. This is linked with his aspirations to reach the top of his potentialities, of which he is aware or not. And this is nothing but putting into practice of the plans of God the Creator He has in relation to His creation. For man cannot consciously tend towards his aim which ends half way. He may not gain the top, yet he should not lose sight of it. The formative process is to serve for this end, and this is the topic of the present work.

Der Text stellt eine eingehende Analyse eines aufschlussreichen Dokumentes aus der Zeit des Januaraufstandes dar. Es wurde am 20 Oktober 2008 in der Kuppel des renovierten Daches der Pfarrkirche in Krasnobrod bei Zamość aufgefunden. Sein Inhalt bezieht sich auf die schwierige Lage der katholischen Kirche in den polnischen Gebieten unter russischer Herrschaft in der Zeit des Aufstandes. Das Dokument ist vor allem ein guter Beitrag zur Erforschung der Verfolgung der Kirche und zugleich eine starke Kritik an den russischen Repressionen.

Aim: The aim of the article is to recall the figure of Janusz Korczak, his life path, as well as his literary output. Particularly noteworthy is the dilemma he had to face in the final situation in which he – a writer, pedagogue, social activist, doctor – found himself in the German extermination camp in Treblinka on the day of his death on August 7, 1942. Methods: The comparative method was used in the article. Detailed content was articulated from the rich source material, showing the richness of Janusz Korczak’s thought and pedagogical practice. Results: As a result, the pedagogue was presented against the social and historical background of his period of life. The rich religious aspect of the pedagogue’s life, in which his extensive activities are enclosed, was also mentioned. Conclusions: The child, in terms of Korczak’s upbringing system, is a being the most important basis of whom is the right to be respected, and upbringing is a support for the child’s self-education. It is necessary to recall the figure of Janusz Korczak on a constant basis, just as Christian saints are remembered, and not without a particular reason. In both cases it is about a pattern. Also, the heroism, inherent in the pattern in both cases, is similar, if not identical. The child is constantly in mortal danger - perhaps no longer the gas chamber, but not less deadly distortions in preparation for life, in upbringing, and in the transmission of values.

Opis:
The Dominican order was established by St. Dominic in 1216 for the defence of faith through teaching. It played an enormous role not only directly in the life of the Universal Church herself, but also in the general spiritual and intellectual development. The basic purpose of apostleship is the glory of God and the salvation of people. It is interesting to look at the history of the Dominica charisma in Poland, especially St. Dominic's spiritual daughter, the Venerable Mother Kolumba Białecka. This paper therefore deals with the history of Dominican sisters in Poland, shows Kolumba Białecka against this backdrop, and depicts her order-making mission. Then it focuses on the significance of her religious name „Kolumba,” and on Białecka's family home. Mother Kolumba Białecka endowed the Church with a kind of religious life that is fulfilled in the service to our neighbours through our perfection. This is our home initiative that stems from Polish spirituality and Polish needs, and at the same time it refers to the purest models of Dominican spirituality. The religious congregation founded by the Venerable Mother Kolumba Białecka has been effective not only in Poland, but it has been developing in various countries on four continents.

The Dominican order was established by St. Dominic in 1216 for the defence of faith through teaching. It played an enormous role not only directly in the life of the Universal Church, but also in the general spiritual and intellectual development. The principal end of its apostleship is to preach the glory of God and salvation of people. It is interesting to look at the history of the Dominican charisma in Poland, especially in the life of St. Dominic's spiritual daughter, the Venerable Mother Kolumba Białecka. This paper discusses therefore the history of Dominican sisters in Poland and presents Kolumba Białecka and her order-making mission against this backdrop. Then it shows the meaning of her religious name "Kolumba”, and Białecka's family home. Mother Kolumba Białecka endowed the Church with this type of religiousness tha is fulfilled in the service for neighbours through one's own striving after perfection. It is a family initiative that stems from Polish spirituality and needs. At the same time it refers to the purest patterns of Dominican spirituality. The religious order established by the Venerable Mother Kolumba Białecka is effective today not only in Poland, but it is developed in various countries on four continents.

Aim: The aim of the article is to show spirituality as an expression of understanding life in the implementation of the educational process. Methods: appropriate for theology and educational sciences, based on the analysis of the most important sources of knowledge and activities of the Church. Results: The subject of considerations is the question of spirituality in the teaching of the Catholic Church in the light of the Holy Scriptures, the teaching of the Second Vatican Council, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the most important, current documents and encyclicals published in the last several decades. They are related to spirituality with the issue of realization and recognition of basic values in the process of education. Conclusions: The result of these considerations is the conclusion that a value is an important goal of a human effort, and a man by nature wants good, even if his is not aware of it. Spirituality in education teaches that a person will turn out to be rational and wise when he/she transforms the selfish attitude into an altruistic man capable of sacrificing his/her own values and even life for the good of others.

From the beginning of the state’s existence the Catholic Church in Poland played a special role: it united the nation, supported it, and showed perspectives for survival in its most difficult periods. Many people even wonder why in the Polish character there is so much respect for Catholicism and for the Church. Polish literature, especially memoirs, often expresses these special bonds. Also foreign memoirists notice this. The priest was also the keystone for all Polish organizations abroad. This particular heritage of the Church’s existence in the structure of the Polish community abroad was constantly supported by John Paul II – a special protector of this community. The Polish language Church cultivating the traditions and customs of the Old Country, has its rich history. This seems to speak for stability of such arrangements as the ethnic parish or – as we sometimes say – the Polish community parish, Polish associations, the Polish school (that, however, for years has been using the language of the country it is situated in), and events. The Catholic Church on the territory of the whole USSR fulfilled a unique function. It was not only a strictly religious function. As a rule, this was a Church of one national group, i.e. the Polish Church, although also other nations, especially Lithuanians and Germans, used its services. However, it was almost universally considered to be the „Polish” Church. It remained an element that unified all Poles. Throughout the whole period of Poland's partitions as well as after it, on the vast territories of the Tsarist, and then Soviet empire, the Catholic Church was the main anchor as a center for propagating Polish culture and education, Polish national traditions, as well as charity work that was unknown in the Communist system. The Catholic Church was also the only legal opposition, first to the Tsarist authorities, then to the Soviet ones, that de facto represented the Poles and inhabitants of Polish origin. Hence, when anywhere in the East a Polish priest arrived among Poles, he reminded them of Poland, about the native lands, the villages and towns, homes and churches they had left. The priests in the East lived courageous lives, with the bravery of the first Christians, without being afraid of persecutions. They did not lose heart in the face of adversities, they did not stop working and maintained close ties with their congregations, without making any differences between them. By their attitude they taught that suffering is sensible. They gave their congregations the will to survive. They testified that resurrection will come after the cross – a victory over the powers of evil. And it did come. The sacrifice of their lives was not in vain.
