Opis:
The article presents an interpretation of the love story in Wojciech Smarzowski’s film Róża (2011) in the context of references to culture deeply rooted in the European tradition of representing this theme. It indicates the melodramatic elements presented in this film, as well as the leading role of the myth of romantic love in creating this thread. Clearly visible is a male perspective view of reality in Smarzowski’s film.

Opis:
The text concentrates on the problem of the ideologization of artistic transmission and uses Wojciech Smarzowski film ‘Rose’ as an example. This problem is considered both on several levels: reception, above all the critical-film level, and also on the level of the work itself. The analysis reveals the impoverishment of the message by radical left-wing and also conservative ideologization is becoming apparent. Also a susceptibility of work to discourse of the political correctness is becoming apparent, in addition it is rather superficial susceptibility.

Opis:
This text confronts two images of a small episode from the First World War and the struggle of Poland to regain its independence. The literary image, Hospital in Cichinicze, is the story of Melchior Wańkowicz (1926), and the film picture is The Gateaway of Europe by Jerzy Wójcik (1999). The film work was an adaptation of literary material; however, the ways memory is created in the two cases are different. Wańkowicz created a somewhat reporter-like, realistic, non-stereotypical record of events, while Wójcik’s story was more universal and at the same time more rooted in national symbolism.

Opis:
The text refers to the films of black series of Polish document and arising at the same time (1956–1957) etudes of students of the Lodz Film School, dedicated to social issues. Analysis of individual works led to several observation. First, the etudes, like movies of black series, reflecting the social movement of 1956, but their subject matter turned out to be partly different. Appeared in them, for example, political threads. Secondly, the etudes showed many similarities to the professional implementation of the WFD, but only films of Hoffman and Skórzewski can pass as a source of inspiration for students. More frequently students ideas appeared in the improved form in the films of young professionals. Thirdly, the weaker school productions were bolder.

Opis:
The article is devoted to two films by the independent operator, director and producer Arkadiusz Gołębiewski: The Story of the Kowalski Family (Historia Kowalskich), which raises the subject of the Holocaust, and Quarter L (Kwatera Ł), which deals with Stalin’s crimes in Poland. They are interpreted not as historical works, but as films about memory and - in the case of the latter - memory in statu nascendi. Their involvement in political and historical polemics and their relationship to the vision of history supported by the Polish State are analyzed.

Opis:
The text is an attempt to define the specificity of portraits of the first Russian Tsar, Ivan the Terrible, in the field of historiography and culture, including popular culture. This characteristic is referred then to the analysis of two films – S. Eisenstein's Ivan the Terrible (1944-1946) and P. Lungin’s Tsar (2009). These films depict two different interpretations of the historical figure presented above all in Russian discourse. On the one hand (Eisenstein), Ivan is seen as a prominent politician engaged in a state-building strategy; on the other (Lungin), he is above all a crazy criminal.

It turns out that it was not the first.
