    This paper aims to analyze TV news of selected public information magazine programs in Poland and Germany. The contrastive analysis encompasses TV news of the first German national channel ARD and the first Polish national channel TVP1. The focus of the analysis lies on the comparison of framed programs and information service topics broadcast in the two countries’ TV stations during the time when the main topie of all TV news both in Poland and Germany was the radical change in Egypt (selected information services in January and February in 2011). The following aspects have been thoroughly analyzed: service format, share of the hard news and the soft news as well as the national and international news of the information magazine during the given time as well as time dedicated to the main topie of the day.What can be inferred from the contrastive analysis of the information services of the national channels in Poland (TVP1) and Germany (ARD) is that the same information function performed within the same format may show many various differences. While the news on TVP1 seems to compete for larger audiences (i.e., greater share of the sensational news and soft news, the role of the anchor person), the ARD-news continues to prefer a certain sound tradition by offering a classical type of information service, stressing a serious national and international information. The decision to keep an unchanged TV news presentation guarantees the ARD-news a strong market share in the information sector among other public and commercial TV stations.

    The aim of this article is to present an ensemble of different text types to delineate the relationships between them within a specific text type net belonging to the daily news field in the printing press. For this purpose, first the modular forms of reporting will be introduced, followed by the discussion of the press text type and the examination of the culturally determined text type expression. The investigation centres around one important world incident – the Papal election in March 2013. The focus lies on what was reported in detail in the daily press in both countries in order to demonstrate similarities and differences.
    Modularne formy przekazywania informacji: sieci tekstów w niemieckiej i polskiej prasie codziennej Przedmiotem rozważań niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie kontrastywnej analizy zbioru różnych rodzajów tekstów oraz ich powiązań w ramach sieci tekstów, których celem jest przekazywanie informacji w prasie codziennej. W tym celu w pierwszej części artykułu opisane zostały modularne formy przekazywania informacji. Następnie podjęto próbę zdefiniowania rodzaju tekstu oraz przedstawiono charakterystyczne cechy gatunków prasowych, jak również ich uwarunkowania kulturowe. Analizie poddano wydarzenie o zasięgu światowym (wybór papieża w marcu 2013), o którym informowały obszernie gazety codzienne.

    The article focusses on commentary as a text genre in the daily press. The aim of the first part is to present the prototypical marks and characteristic differences of the genre as well as its conditions. The second part discusses possible ways of broadening the genre pattern on the basis of the analysed samples from the daily press of different ranges: newspapers of nationwide, regional, and local range according to selected criteria. The article strives to answer the question about the form of the contemporary press commentary. It also attempts to explain the reasons why journalists tend to depart from the pattern of the genre.

    The aim of experimental research is to check if an assumed dependency can actually be evidenced in the learning process; to determine the extent to which this can be applied, as well as to determine the quality of the influence of the experimental factor on the outcomes. In other words, did the improvement in fact happen and what increase in effects, or the time taken to achieve them, can be expected. As research problems vary, different research approaches are used. In this paper a classic experimental design with pretest and posttest and a control group will be discussed. This is illustrated using an example of research on vocabulary acquisition. The research discussed compares vocabulary development in the traditional classroom with a multimedia environment.

    Der Beitrag untersucht den Fernsehwetterbericht als informationsbetonte Textsorte. Zu diesem Zweck werden zunächst die Merkmale dieser Textsorte beschrieben, dann wird die Multimodalität von Fernsehtexten charakterisiert, deren Bedeutungskonstitution aus dem Zusammenspiel sprachlicher und nichtsprachlicher Zeichensysteme resultiert. Anschließend wird darauf hingewiesen, dass eine kontrastive Textanalyse zugleich eine kulturbezogene Herausforderung ist. Der Analyseteil untersucht die entsprechende Gestaltung der semiotischen Ressourcen in den TV-Wetterberichten vor allem bezüglich der Sprach- und Bildebene und setzt sich zum Ziel, herauszufinden, welche Ähnlichkeiten und Unterschiede die Berichterstattung der deutschen und polnischen Wettersendungen aufweist.

    The paper aims to demonstrate the most important aspects of comparative text analysis based on reporting patterns in TV news both in German and Polish media. The main concern is the cultural background of the texts. The first part of the article concentrates on multimodality of media texts and on the text type ‘TV news’. Following this, the major concepts of the culturality of text types in the pertinent German literature are presented. Against the background of the theoretical founda- tions, upon which the contrastive analysis is built, an exemplary examination is carried out: which ways of multimodal arrangement of TV news concerning terrorist attacks can be discerned? The terrorist attacks in question and which are the topic of the selected TV news took place in Great Britain in the first half of 2017. They were covered by the mentioned TV channels.

    The paper deals with pivotal aspects of the transformation of extra-media reality in the context of TV news. In the first part I concentrate on information texts and persuasion methods in media reports and communication. Together with it I present major concepts of reality construction in media. In the second part I characterize patterns of reporting by using selected TV news from public and commercial television channels in Poland. The pertinent persuasion strategies shall come into focus. The discussion is based on TV news covering the parliamentary election in Hungary; they were broadcast on 9 April 2018 in the aforementionend television stations.
    Przedmiotem artykułu jest przekształcanie autentycznych wydarzeń w medialną rzeczywistość na przykładzie wiadomości telewizyjnych serwisów informacyjnych. W tym celu w jego pierwszej części koncentruję się na tekstach informacyjnych w mediach, na roli perswazji w komunikacji oraz prezentuję najważniejsze założenia konstruowania rzeczywistości w mediach. W drugiej części artykułu charakteryzuję relacjonowanie wiadomości na podstawie wybranych telewizyjnych serwisów informacyjnych w publicznych i komercyjnych stacjach telewizyjnych w Polsce. Przedmiot analizy porównawczej w niniejszym artykule stanowią strategie i środki perswazji. Analizowane wiadomości telewizyjne dotyczą wyborów parlamentarnych na Węgrzech i zostały wyemitowane we wszystkich uwzględnionych w badaniu stacjach telewizyjnych 9 kwietnia 2018 r.

    Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza newsów telewizyjnych serwisów informacyjnych pod kątem obecności elementów perswazyjnych na płaszczyźnie języka, obrazu, muzyki i odgłosów tworzących multimodalną argumentację retoryczną. Punktem wyjścia jest założenie, że rzeczywistość prezentowana przez dany serwis informacyjny nie jest idealnym i pełnym obrazem relacjonowanego wydarzenia, lecz jego medialną inscenizacją przedstawianą w celu kształtowania świadomości czy wpływania na emocje określonych grup lub społeczności. Zagadnienie to zostało omówione na przykładzie wybranych wiadomości telewizyjnych serwisów informacyjnych emitowanych w stacji TVP1 w latach 2015-2019 dotyczących sytuacji kryzysowych.
    The article aims to uncover persuasive elements of television news reporting at the level of language, image, music and sound(s), which are used for multimodal rhetorical argumentation. The starting point is the assumption that the reality presented by a given news service is not an ideal and complete picture of a particular event, but rather it is a media representation created to shape the audience's awareness of the covered issue or to influence the emotions of specific target groups of recipients. Such multimodal argumentation patterns will be illustrated with the selected examples of representations of crisis in televized news shows broadcast between 2015–2019 by Polish public television channel TVP1.

Wyniki i wnioski: Kontrastywne spojrzenie na koncepcje wyrosłe z dwóch odmiennych tradycji lingwistycznych pozwala z różnych perspektyw naświetlać opisywane w artykule zjawiska, co z jednej strony jawi się jako wyzwanie dotyczące postępowania badawczego, ale z drugiej może wskazać nowe kierunki eksploracji, wyzwolić inspiracje czy też impulsy badawcze prowadzące do twórczej refleksji metodologicznej. Wartość poznawcza: Artykuł jest przyczynkiem do dyskusji dotyczącej znaczenia badań kontrastywnych w zakresie dwóch obszarów badawczych, polonistycznego i germanistycznego, wskazuje na podobieństwa i różnice w metodologii koncepcji genologicznych oraz ich zastosowania, zapoznaje czytelników z badaniami wyżej wymienionych kultur piśmienniczych, inspirując do prowadzenia dalszych badań w tym zakresie.
    The aim of the study is to confront and present the use of selected achievements of Maria Wojtak in the field of genre pattern and genological analyses in German and contrastive studies. Research methods: The catalog of concepts and research instruments developed by Maria Wojtak are juxtaposed with similar approaches and methodological proposals characteristic of German studies and discussed in terms of their divergence, common properties, and the possibility of their creative use by combining individual concepts in methodological proposals. Results and conclusions: The contrasting view of concepts stemming from two different linguistic traditions makes it possible to elucidate the phenomena described in the paper from different perspectives, which, on the one hand, appears as a challenge regarding the research process, but, on the other, may indicate new directions of exploration, trigger inspiration or research impulses leading to creative methodological reflection. Originality/cognitive value: The paper is a contribution to the discussion on the importance of contrastive analysis in the scope of two research areas––Polish and German studies. It points out similarities and differences in the methodology of genological concepts and their application, it familiarizes the Readers with the study of the above-mentioned literary cultures, inspiring further research in this area.

    Celem artykułu jest porównanie ujęć genologicznych w badaniach polonistycznych (tu przede wszystkim w badaniach Marii Wojtak) i w pracach germanistycznych pochodzących z niemieckojęzycznego obszaru językowego oraz zaakcentowanie istniejących punktów stycznych i dających się zaobserwować różnic wynikających z odmiennych dróg rozwojowych genologii polonistycznej i germanistycznej. Rozważania koncentrują się głównie na genologicznej koncepcji Marii Wojtak, przedstawionej w jej monografiach Gatunki prasowe (2004) oraz Wprowadzenie do genologii (2019), które są reprezentatywne dla lingwistycznej genologii polonistycznej. Metodologia: Artykuł o profilu kontrastywnym ma charakter przeglądowy i zawiera syntezę badawczą podejść w obu wymienionych obszarach badawczych. Prezentuje koncepcje genologiczne w badaniach polonistycznych (ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem badań Marii Wojtak) i germanistycznych oraz wskazuje na płaszczyzny dla nich wspólne i je różniące. Wyniki i wnioski: Na podstawie porównania teoretycznej refleksji nad gatunkowym ukształtowaniem tekstów w obu analizowanych kulturach piśmienniczych można zauważyć przede wszystkim zróżnicowanie dotyczące odmiennego rozłożenia akcentów i inny kontekst badań, przy czym na plan pierwszy wysuwa się indywidualizm w podejściach polonistycznych, ewolucyjność badań germanistycznych oraz specyfika tzw. tekstologii kontrastywnej rozwijającej się w ramach genologii germanistycznej. Wartość poznawcza: Artykuł przybliża czytelnikowi istotne różnice oraz podobieństwa między genologią polonistyczną (głównie na przykładzie koncepcji Marii Wojtak) oraz genologią germanistyczną. Praca stanowi inspirację do współpracy badawczej pomiędzy genologiami polskimi i niemieckimi oraz do międzykulturowych badań genologicznych.
    The aim of the paper is to compare the approaches to genology in Polish studies (primarily in the studies of Maria Wojtak) and in German studies from the German-speaking linguistic area, as well as to emphasize the existing meeting points and observable differences resulting from the various developmental paths of Polish and German genology. The considerations mainly focus on Maria Wojtak’s genological conception as presented in her monographs Press Genres (2004) and Introduction to Genology (2019), which are representative of Polish linguistic genology. Research methods: This contrastive paper is intended as an overview and provides an exploratory synthesis of approaches in the two aforementioned research areas. It presents genological concepts in Polish studies (with particular emphasis on Maria Wojtak’s works) and German studies and points out their similarities and differences. Results and conclusions: By comparing the theoretical reflection on the genre formation of texts in the two analyzed literary cultures, it is possible to notice a differentiation in terms of divergent accentuation and different research contexts, with a focus on individualism in the Polish approaches, the evolutionary nature of research in German studies and the specificity of the contrastive textology developing in German genology. Originality/cognitive value: The paper clarifies essential differences and similarities between Polish (mainly on the example of Maria Wojtak’s concepts) and German genology. It inspires research cooperation between Polish and German genologists and cross-cultural genological research.
