    Opis:
    The purpose of this article is to analyse news in the contemporary news media from the perspective of linguistic description. Among the factors which determine the structure of news stories and their language, such phenomena should be mentioned as the process of media convergence, internetization, celebritization and tabloidization of journalism, “decay / corruption” of news, as well as infotainment and politainment. To meet the need for attractiveness, a sender may introduce linguistically resonant phrases with the idiomatic potential into the structure of news. Other mechanisms prompting the recipient to read the news – manipulation markers – can also include key words and persuasive constructions introduced in the structure of the news.

    Opis:
    The article aims at discussing the most characteristic linguistic devices thanks to which Marek Koterski performs stylization into the colloquial Polish language in Day of the Wacko (2002). This film is very popular not only with the demanding elite audience but also a statistical Pole because apart from difficult inter-textual references, the film also plays with the language of everyday communication. The film director tells about a subjective, colloquial experience of the world by the main character – Adaś Miauczyński, by means of different experiments. They have been analyzed in this study with the use of methodology developed by both structural linguistics and cognitive linguistics. Thus, among the most essential endeavors used byMarek Koterski, we can list the following: colloquialization and vulgarization, breaking correct syntactic order, introducing word formative peculiarities and inflectional disorders. Exaggeration of mechanisms ruling the colloquial Polish language makes two main characters – Adaś and the Language, decide about Day of the Wacko popularity.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest opis innowacji frazeologicznej to się wytnie. Analizę tej konstrukcji wyrazowej rozpoczęto od przytoczenia cytatów, które reprezentują jej dosłowne funkcjonowanie w tekstach współczesnych, związanych głównie ze sferą profesjolektów medialnych. W dalszej części szkicu przedstawiono różne wypowiedzi (przede wszystkim internautów) będące poświadczeniem działania mechanizmu zapożyczania wewnętrznego, a także dowodem na rozszerzanie zakresu pierwotnego użycia frazy o znaczenia metaforyczne przy jednoczesnym zachowaniu podstawowego semu ‘coś, co trzeba usunąć, wyciąć’. Potwierdzeniem powszechnej znajomości i dowcipnego charakteru frazeologizmu są również inne sposoby jego aktualizacji, zawarte np. w tytułach wydarzeń kulturalnych lub nazwach sklepów.
    This article focuses on the description of phraseological innovation we’ll cut it out. The analysisof this lexical structure starts with quotations, which represent its functioning in the literal meaning in contemporary texts, associated with a space of media sociolects in the first place. The next part of this paper presents different statements (mostly written by Internet’s users), which can be treated both as a confirmation of a specific intralingual borrowing mechanism (from one Polish language style into other) and as a proof of widening of the original meaning of this lexical structure with metaphorical meanings – however the basic semantic property ‘something, what should be cut or deleted’ stays the same. Other examples of using this idiom – like as a title of cultural events or shops’ names – can be treated as an evidence of its common knowledge and humouristic nature.

    Juliusz Machulski—one of the representatives of the Polish authors’ cinema—is a director recognized by the generations of the audience. His oeuvre is distinguished by characteristic features such as inseparable comedic traits, critical comment on reality and an artistic attitude to the Polish language spoken by his film characters. During the analysis of the linguistic layer of the movies by Machulski, it is worthwhile to signal at least the role of anthroponyms, since proper names—according to research from the circle of literary onomastics—perform equally important function in creating stylization like other linguistic endeavours. Personal -onyms in the films by Juliusz Machulski combine certain common characteristics: they may be used for co-creation of onomastic realism (then, they are a kind of costume), but they also may attest to a consequent (repeating in many films), experimental predilection of the author – for Anglicization, for constructing a network of intertextual references or for creation of pseudonyms or meaningful surnames.

    In the movie Dzień świra – one of the most popular Polish comedies of the recent years – Marek Koterski presents his personal vision of the Polish language. The director, recognizing the advertising messages as an important phenomenon of the modern culture, makes a paraphrase of such texts – both in their verbal and visual layer. Conducting various linguistic experiments, he reveals manipulative mechanisms of advertising slogans. Parodies and caricatures are intended to demonstrate a fictional harmony of advertising texts – instead of the desired fabulous world, the spectator (and reader) is forced to receive brutal messages, going beyond the sphere of taboo.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie przeglądu najważniejszych zabiegów językowo-stylistycznych występujących w Jańciu Wodniku Jana Jakuba Kolskiego. Środki artystyczne pojawiające się zarówno w opowiadaniu (będącym pierwowzorem ekranizacji), jak i w filmie zanalizowano przez pryzmat trzech kategorii: ludowej poetyckości, magiczności i naiwności. Autor odwołuje się do tradycji ludowej, sięgając po różnego rodzaju powtórzenia i paralelizmy, a także ballady. Efekt magiczności uzyskuje dzięki wprowadzeniu aluzji do rytuałów słownych (jak klątwy czy obrzędu nadania imienia), a swoistą naiwność – poprzez stylizację na mowę potoczną. Dzięki analizie tych chwytów językowych udało się uzasadnić tezę, że za jeden z elementów składających się na autorski styl reżysera można również uważać kreację warstwy językowej.
    The aim of this article is to represent an overview of the most important linguistic and stylistic measures used in Jan Jakub Kolski’s “Johnnie Waterman”. The measures that appear both in the short story (which is the predecessor of the movie) and the motion picture are analysed in three categories: folk poeticity, affinity to magic and naivety. The author recalls folk traditions through use of various repetitions, parallelisms and ballads. An atmosphere of magic is achieved by alluding to word rituals (such as curses or namegiving rites), while a feeling of naivety is created by applying common speech to dialogues. It is through the analysis of the aforementioned linguistic means one can prove that the linguistic layer of Jan Jakub Kolski’s works can be included as one of the elements that the director’s auteur style is composed of.

    The aim of this article is to present an overview of the stylistic measures identifiable in the dialogues of two films whose screenplays were written by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert – Body (2015) and Mug (2017). The analysis of linguistic and stylistic means has been organised into three categories that can be used to describe the work of this script-writing duo (in line with Adam Kruk’s critical proposition): deliberate schematicity, social hearing (as a metaphor for social sensitivity) and mockery. In the linguistic layer of these films, schematicity comes to the fore through the accumulation of homogeneous linguistic means (especially from the emotional register of colloquial Polish) and contrasting juxtapositions of various social variants of the language. The social hearing of Szumowska and Englert is revealed especially through the presence of linguistic templates, and mockery – in the linguistic joke and in the openly mocking statements of some of the characters. The analysis shows that the dialogues are another testimony to the stylish separateness of Szumowska and Englert and one of the ways to portray Poland as full of internal divisions.

    The purpose of the article is the analysis of a linguistic level of one of the most recent films by Władysław Pasikowski – Pokłosie [Aftermath] (2012) through the prism US/THE OTHERS. Its linguistic manifestations harmonize with other elements an audiovisual work is made of. As a leitmotif functioning on a dialogue level, they intensify the picture of a divided community of the village shown in the film. The analysis of the quotes from Pokłosie revealed that the category US/THE OTHERS creatively used in a work of art does not have to be based on a simple contrast or unconditional black and white combination; it may be a system of variable shades and nuances. The use of the opposition US/THE OTHERS by the screenwriter in a different way – from the form of verbal aggression through a rhetorical trick to the assumptions about conceptualization of the world – underlines the aesthetic effect of shock and provocation typical of all Pasikowski’s films.
