Opis:
A simple and practical color image encryption is proposed with the help of quick response (QR) code. The original color image to be encoded is firstly transformed into the corresponding QR code, and then a joint transform correlator encrypting architecture is used to encode the corresponding QR code into a positive ciphertext. In the decryption, the corresponding QR code can be restored with the correct decryption key, and hence the original color image can be retrieved without any quality loss by scanning the restored QR code with a smartphone. Compared with the reported color image encryption techniques, the proposed technique does not need to convert color image (RGB) into indexed image formats or segregate into three color components prior to encryption and hence the corresponding reverse processes also are not required after decryption. Moreover, with the help of the QR code, the proposed method has strong tolerance to speckle noise and other noises resulting from optical system. In addition, the proposed method is practical because its ciphertext is a positive image and can be printed directly or manufactured as a card. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method are demonstrated by numerical results.

In order to ensure the safety and reliability of the horizontal brace of semi-submersible platform (SEMI) which functions as the supporting structure in SEMI, this article presents an elastic-plastic method to analyze the variations of the crack tip opening displacement, elastic zone and plastic zone of the cracked section of the horizontal brace under beam wave. The brace of the SEMI was assumed to be located a circumferential through crack at its boundary in this article. In addition, the cracked section of the brace has been divided into crack zone, tensile plastic zone, elastic zone and compressive plastic zone in the presented theoretical model. Moreover, the closed form of the solution has been found in this article which is especially suitable solving complicated problems in practical engineering application. Also, a typical new-generation SEMI that is in practical use was selected to analyze the variation tendency of the cracked brace’s parameters using the proposed model which could give good suggestion to semi-submersible platform designers and managers.

With the polymer-coated fertilizer as background, the permeability of P- and K-nutrient through a representative polymer membrane-polystyrene membrane were investigated by measuring their permeability in the solutions of KH2 PO4 -water and urea-KH2 PO4 water at nominal temperature of 298 K using the Ussing chamber method. To analyze and interpret the variation of permeability with solute concentration, the solubility of permeate in polymer membrane were determined experimentally and the permeate diffusion coefficient were assessed by the measurements of density and apparent molar volume of the aqueous fertilizer solutions. An interesting “increase-decrease” trend for the permeability of both phosphorous (P)-nutrient, and potassium (K)-nutrient fertilizer with permeate concentration was observed, in which the increases in permeability at low concentrations of permeate could be attributed to the increase in solubility of KH2 PO4  in polymer while the decreases in permeability at high concentrations was due to the decrease in diffusion coefficient of permeate in polymer membrane. Finally, the release kinetics of these nutrients from a PS-coated urea-KH2 PO4  compound fertilizer granule was predicted using the Shaviv’s model along with the permeability data of P- and K-nutrient generated.

Opis:
Methyl Bromide (MB) is one of the most effective and widely used commercial chemicals in agriculture and non-agricultural sectors respectively. The decision to phaseout MB by 2005 set the stage for scientists to come up with a non-less-toxic replacement alternative or combinations thereof. This study focused on comparing yield efficiencies of different MB substitute fumigants and mulching systems for pepper production in the Southeast. Results of this study depicted that pepper production is potentially maximized under the tel-pic-vap treatment which is the only fumigation method that yielded significant differences relative to at least one other alternative approach.
Bromek metylu (MB) jest jedną z najbardziej skutecznych i powszechnie stosowanych substancji chemicznych w rolnictwie i niektórych sektorach pozarolniczych. Decyzja w sprawie wycofania MB do 2005 roku zainspirowała naukowców do wynalezienia mniej toksycznych alternatyw dla tej substancji. Niniejsze opracowanie koncentruje się na porównywaniu efektywności fumigantów różnych alternatyw MB.

Recycling construction and demolition waste not only reduces project costs; and saves natural resources, but also solves the environmental threat caused by construction waste disposal. In this paper, C25 waste road concrete is used as an experimental material, the uniaxial compression strength and tensile splitting strength of C25 RAC whose coarse aggregate replacement rate is 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% are tested under the condition that the water-to-cement ratio is 0.47, 0.55 and 0.61. The results show: (1) the uniaxial compression strength and tensile splitting strength decrease with the increase of RAC; (2) for concrete with the same water-to-cement ratio, when the coarse aggregate replacement rate changes from 0% to 50%, the uniaxial compression strength and tensile splitting strength of RAC changes slightly. When the coarse aggregate replacement rate changes from 50% to 100%, the uniaxial compression strength and tensile splitting strength of RAC decreases rapidly.
Recykling odpadów budowlanych oraz materiałów pochodzących z rozbiórek nie tylko zmniejsza koszty projektu i oszczędza zasoby naturalne, ale również zażegnuje zagrożenie dla środowiska spowodowane przez składowanie odpadów budowlanych. Szczególnie w odniesieniu do właściwości mechanicznych betonu z kruszywa gruboziarnistego poddanego recyklingowi, odpady betonu drogowego C25 są używane jako materiał eksperymentalny, pod warunkiem że stosunek wody do cementu wynosi 0,47, 0,55 i 0,61 oraz są przygotowane próbki betonu o wskaźniku zamiany betonu z kruszywa gruboziarnistego poddawanego recyklingowi wynoszącym 25%, 50%, 75% i 100% betonu z naturalnego kruszywa gruboziarnistego. Próbka to sześcian o wymiarach 150 × 150 × 150 mm. Przygotowaliśmy 6 próbek dla każdego wskaźnika zamiany betonu z kruszywa gruboziarnistego poddawanego recyklingowi. Przygotowano łącznie 90 próbek betonu. Próbki zostały usunięte 24 godziny po ustawieniu oraz były utwardzane w temperaturze 20°C i wilgotności 90% przez 28 dni. Następnie przeprowadzono próby ściskania jednoosiowego oraz wytrzymałości na rozciąganie przez rozłupywanie betonu z kruszywa poddawanego recyklingowi C25.

As a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, diclofenac, was commonly used as analgesic, antiarthritic and antirheumatic, and has frequently been detected in municipal wastewater treatment plants (MWTPs) effluents and demonstrated to be potentially environmental risk on human beings. In the present study, N, S co-doped TiO2 nano-crystallites decorated TiO2 nano-tube arrays (N, S-TiO2 NCs/TiO2 NTAs) photoelectrode was used to degrade diclofenac containing wastewater. In addition, the effects of some critical parameters including initial pH, external positive potential, sodium sulfate concentration and initial diclofenac concentration on the photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) degradation of diclofenac containing wastewater and dynamic characteristics were investigated systematically. Results showed that N, S-TiO2 NCs/TiO2 NTAs photoelectrode exhibited high PEC efficiency for the degradation of diclofenac, in which the PEC processes fitted well with the Langmuir–Hinshelwood (L–H) model. Furthermore, external additional anions such as Cl, ClO and NO3 – played an important role in inhibiting the degradation of diclofenac. Also, the N, S-TiO2 NCs/TiO2 NTAs photoelectrode possessed good stability for consecutive applications for degradation of diclofenac, which could potentially be utilized in wastewater treatment.

Chinese fir [Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook] is a fast-growing tree species that is widely planted for timber production in southern China. Many high-quality breeding systems for Chinese fir have been developed using genetic methods. Here, we systematically review progress in increasing Chinese fir timber volumes per unit forest area in China, using genetic methods. We comprehensively assess the objec- tives, strategies, and primary accomplishments of the first to fourth generations of a Chinese fir breeding program. Furthermore, we propose a genetic improvement program and protocol for Chinese fir, and out- line several recommendations with respect to the main challenges associated with using genetic methods to increase timber yields. Finally, we present a series of proposals to increase Chinese fir timber production in China. This review offers insight into genetic improvements that have increased timber volumes of Chi- nese fir over four generations of breeding, and provides direction for future genetic improvements to wood properties.

To provide a theoretical and practical foundation for ramie genetic analysis, simple sequence repeats (SSRs) were identified in the ramie genome and employed in this study. From the 115 369 sequences of a specific-locus amplified fragment library, a type of reduced representation library obtained by high-throughput sequencing, we identified 4774 sequences containing 5064 SSR motifs. SSRs of ramie included repeat motifs with lengths of 1 to 6 nucleotides, and the abundance of each motif type varied greatly. We found that mononucleotide, dinucleotide, and trinucleotide repeat motifs were the most prevalent (95.91%). A total of 98 distinct motif types were detected in the genomic-SSRs of ramie. Of them, The A/T mononucleotide motif was the most abundant, accounting for 41.45% of motifs, followed by AT/TA, accounting for 20.30%. The number of alleles per locus in 31 polymorphic microsatellite loci ranged from 2 to 7, and observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.04 to 1.00 and 0.04 to 0.83, respectively. Furthermore, molecular identity cards (IDs) of the germplasms were constructed employing the ID Analysis 3.0 software. In the current study, the 26 germplasms of ramie can be distinguished by a combination of five SSR primers including Ibg5-5, Ibg3-210, Ibg1-11, Ibg6-468, and Ibg6-481. The allele polymorphisms produced by all SSR primers were used to analyze genetic relationships among the germplasms. The similarity coefficients ranged from 0.41 to 0.88. We found that these 26 germplasms were clustered into five categories using UPGMA, with poor correlation between germplasm and geographical distribution. Our study is the first large-scale SSR identification from ramie genomic sequences. We have further studied the SSR distribution pattern in the ramie genome, and proposed that it is possible to develop SSR loci from genomic data for population genetics studies, linkage mapping, quantitative trait locus mapping, cultivar fingerprinting, and as genetic diversity studies.

This paper uses Feder model to test impacts of transport infrastructure on economic growth. With China provincial data from 1990-2010 the empirical models, including Basic model, Time-Lag model and Spatial model, demonstrate that transport infrastructure does have a positive Spillover Effect on economic growth. However, Direct Effect on economic growth is negative possibly due to Crowding-Out Effect and productivity difference between sectors. The research also proves the Spillover Effects are becoming weaker as time passed. Finally, Spatial Spillover Effect or Network Effects are confirmed.
Diese Thesis benutzt Feder-Model, um die Auswirkung der Transportinfrastruktur, die auf das wirtschaftliche Wachstum zu untersuchen. Mit den Daten aus chinesischen Provinzen zwischen 1990 und 2010 durch das empirische Modell, in dem das Basic-Model, Time-Lag-Model und Spatial-Model beinhaltet, kann man dadurch demonstrieren, dass die Transportinfrastruktur eine positive Spillover-Effekt auf das wirtschaftliche Wachstum auswirkt. Direkte Effekt auf das wirtschaftliche Wachstum ist jedoch möglich negativ, durch die Crowding-Out Effekt und Unausgeglichenheit der Produktivität zwischen Sektoren. Diese Studie beweist auch, dass die Spillover-Effekte mit vergangener Zeit schwächt wird. Außerdem werden die Spatial-Spillover-Effekt oder Network-Effekt nachgewiesen.

Support vector machine and artificial neural network are widely used in classification applications. Extreme learning machine (ELM) is a novel and efficient learning algorithm based on the generalized single hidden layer feed forward networks, which performs well in classification applications. The research results have shown the superiority of ELM with the existing classical algorithms: support vector machine (SVM) and back propagation neural network. In this study, we firstly propose a novel nonnegative matrix factorization extreme learning machine (NMFELM) to improve the performance of standard ELM method. Then we propose a novel near-infrared palmprint recognition approach based on NMFELM classifier. As the test data, we use the near-infrared palmprint database provided by Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed NMFELM method outperforms the standard ELM- and SVM-based methods.

In the paper density functional theory method was applied to explore the electronic and magnetic properties of the GdNiSb in low-temperature phase with cubic MgAsAg-type structure and in the high-temperature phase. The calculations were performed by first principles full-relativistic full potential local orbital method within the local spin density approximation. The calculations results show the metallic character of GdNiSb compound in the high-temperature phase with hexagonal $AlB_2$-type structure. For the low-temperature phase of the cubic GdNiSb system, they indicate a semiconducting behavior. The density of states below the Fermi level is greater in high-temperature phase than in low-temperature one, the calculated magnetic moment is in good agreement with an available experimental value.

The combustion light gas gun (CLGG) uses a low molecular weight gas as the propellant to burn, expand and propel the projectile out of the barrel with higher muzzle velocities. In order to better understand the interior ballistic process of CLGG, an multidimensional combustion and flow model for CLGG is established. It contains unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations, the RNG k-ε two equation turbulence models, and the Eddy-Dissipation Model (EDM) of combustion. Simulation of the interior ballistic process of CLGG is carried out with a propellant of hydrogen and oxygen mixture charged at a particular initial condition. Results show that the spherical front flames spread from the ignition points which divide the flow field as burned and unburned regions in the initial period and expand to the whole flow field subsequently. The filling error of propellants in the chamber will affect the interior ballistic performance, but the impact is relatively small.

To study the force and deformation characteristics of subsea mudmat-pile hybrid foundations under different combined loads, a project at a water depth of 200 m in the South China Sea was studied. A numerical model of a subsea mudmatpile hybrid foundation is developed using the numerical simulation software FLAC3D. The settlement of the seabed soil, the bending moments of the mudmat, and the displacements and bending moments along the pile shaft under different load combinations, including vertical load and horizontal load, vertical load and bending moment, and horizontal load and bending moment load, are analyzed. The results indicate that settlement of the seabed soil is reduced by the presence of piles. The settlement of the mudmat is reduced by the presence of piles. Different degrees of inclination occur along the pile shaft. The angle of inclination of pile No. 1 is greater than that of pile No. 2. The dip directions of piles No. 1 and No. 2 are identical under the vertical load and bending moment and are opposite to those under the other combined loads. The piles that are located at the junctions between the mudmat and the tops of the piles are easily destroyed.

Opis:
The addition of octane phenol polyoxyethylene-10 (OP-10) to oleic acid via a reagent-combination technology was carried out and it was shown that OP-10 exhibited synergistic effects in the flotation performance of oleic acid. Single-mineral flotation tests, zeta-potential measurements, total-organic-carbon determination, and scale-up of continuous tests using raw ore were also carried out. Single-mineral flotation tests showed that OP-10 exhibited virtually no collecting performance for apatite, but it improved the flotation performance of oleic acid following its addition to oleic acid in small amounts at low temperature. Zeta-potential measurements and total-organic-carbon determination results indicated that the addition of 2.5% OP-10 to oleic acid increased the absolute value of the apatite surface potential and improved adsorption of oleic acid on the apatite surface at low temperature. A scale-up of the continuous test showed that application of OP-10 with industrial fatty acids led to good synergistic effects and contributed to effective separation of phosphate ore.

In this work, the dispersive effect of low molecular weight sodium polyacrylate (PAAS) on serpentine, and its dispersion mechanism were systematically investigated through zeta potential measurements, micro and batch flotation as well as adsorption tests. At pH 5, where flotation of iron sulphide was routinely performed, pyrite and serpentine minerals were oppositely charged, and therefore they were attracted to each other. Slime coatings of serpentine adhered to the surface of pyrite, decreasing the adsorption density of a collector on the pyrite surface, but also reducing the flotation recovery. PAAS increased the flotation recovery of pyrite by promoting dispersion between pyrite and serpentine. The effective flotation separation of pyrite from the refractory iron sulphide ore was possible by using PAAS as a dispersant. Anionic PAAS adjusted the surface potential of serpentine through adsorption on the serpentine surface and changed the interaction between pyrite and serpentine particles from attractive to repulsive, and then dispersed pyrite and serpentine.
