Opis:
The ternary compound $Cu_{3}TaS_{4}$ has been investigated by means of X-ray powder diffraction and its structure has been refined by the Rietveld method. This compound is isostructural with the sulvanite mineral $Cu_{3}VS_{4}$, and crystallizes in the cubic $P \bar{4} 3m$ space group (No. 215), Z = 1, with unit cell parameters a = 5.5145(1) Å and V = 167.70(1) $Å^{3}$. The refinement of 14 instrumental and structural parameters converged to $R_{p}$ = 4.4%, $R_{wp}$ = 6.8%, $R_{exp}$ = 5.5% and S = 1.2 for 4501 step intensities and 33 independent reflections.

Shallow-marine deposits, included in the “Basal Sands” of the Eocene Paují Formation of the Maracaibo Basin in western Venezuela, record deposition in fore shore to lower off shore settings. These deposits are stacked in coarsening-upward parasequences that reflect variable intensities and frequencies of storms. Of particular interest are sharp-based, amalgamated, hummocky cross-stratified and rippled, very fine-grained sandstone beds, observed in the core MOT-X from the Motatán Field. These beds record storm deposition, under purely oscillatory to combined flows in an offshore-transition setting. The amalgamated nature of the sand stone interval indicates repeated erosion, due to multiple storm events. The ichnofabrics in these tempestites result from a distinctive taphonomic pathway, reflecting the interplay between bioturbation events and storm erosion and deposition. The storm-related trace-fossil suite is represented by Diplocraterion parallelum and local occurrences of Palaeophycus tubularis, Bergaueria isp. and Thalassinoides isp., which is consistent with the relatively high energy of formation of these deposits. Fair-weather deposits are absent from the sand stone interval. However, high densities of Chondrites isp. are present in the infills of Diplocraterion parallelum and, more rarely, Thalassinoides isp. providing the sole evidence of the establishment of a resident fauna during inter-storm intervals. Deposits containing the fair-weather suites were erosionally removed during the subsequent storm. The deep-tier emplacement of Chondrites and the ability of its producer to rework other biogenic structures favour preservation, allowing recognition of a “hidden” bioturbation event that otherwise might have remained undetected.

Designing variable structure control with sliding mode (VSC-SM) control schemes needs a switching function or a sliding surface which guarantees the global stability of the closed-loop system. Despite the fact that a wide range of design approaches has been proposed for solving this mathematical problem, the number of proposed methodologies for nonlinear systems is not very extensive, especially for discrete time nonlinear MIMO systems, and most of them require some coordinate system transformation. Therefore, it is not an easy task to find a design scheme that can be applied to discrete time nonlinear MIMO systems. The proposed methodology introduces a mathematical tool: a switching surface equation for a class of MIMO nonlinear systems through an explicit equation without any coordinate transformation. This equation makes use of an implicit linearizing process via the Taylor expansion that allows the use of linear procedures for the design of switching surfaces and the forward Euler method to obtain a discrete time dynamics representation. An illustrative example is included to show the advantages of the proposed design methodology.

Opis:
The main impedance control schemes in the task space require accurate knowledge of the kinematics and dynamics of the robotic system to be controlled. In order to eliminate this dependence and preserve the structure of this kind of algorithms, this paper presents an adaptive impedance control approach to robot manipulators with kinematic and dynamic parametric uncertainty. The proposed scheme is an inverse dynamics control law that leads to the closed-loop system having a PD structure whose equilibrium point converges asymptotically to zero according to the formal stability analysis in the Lyapunov sense. In addition, the general structure of the scheme is composed of continuous functions and includes the modeling of most of the physical phenomena present in the dynamics of the robotic system. The main feature of this control scheme is that it allows precise path tracking in both free and constrained spaces (if the robot is in contact with the environment). The proper behavior of the closed-loop system is validated using a two degree-of-freedom robotic arm. For this benchmark good results were obtained and the control objective was achieved despite neglecting non modeled dynamics, such as viscous and Coulomb friction.

Opis:
This paper presents a comparative study of Robot Operating System (ROS) packages for mobile robot navigation on an embedded system. ROS provides various libraries and tools in developing complex robot software. We discuss the process of porting ROS to an open embedded platform, which serves as the main controller for a mobile robot. In the case of driving the robot, ROS provides local path planners such as the base, elastic band, and timed elastic band. The local planners are compared and analyzed in terms of accuracy in tracking the global path conducted on a robot model using Gazebo, 3D simulation tool provided by ROS. We also discussed the difference in performance of deploying ROS packages on a personal computer and on the embedded environment. Experiments were performed by controlling two different mobile robots with results showing that tracking error is highly dependent on the goal tolerance. This study will serve as a promising metric in improving the performance of mobile robots using ROS navigation packages.

We investigated the short-term effects of spent coffee grounds on the physical properties of two Mediterranean agricultural soils (Calcisol and Luvisol). The in vitro assay was performed with two spent coffee grounds doses (60 and 240 Mg ha-1), two incubation times (30 and 60 days) and two modalities: with and without lettuce seedlings (Lactuca sativa var. longifolia). Spent coffee grounds addition increased water retention at -33 and -1500 kPa, and decreased bulk density and plant-available water content. With spent coffee grounds, the percentage of macroaggregates increased, the percentage of meso- and microaggregates decreased and the structural stability of all types of aggregates increased. The stereomicroscopy images showed that: the structural aggregates were rounded, the porosity increased by 316%, the structure was ordered into smaller aggregates, the incorporation of spent coffee grounds particles could occur in intraped cracks and spent coffee grounds particles could act as a binding agent. Scanning electron microscopy also showed that spent coffee grounds particles interacted with mineral particles and integrated into soil structure; moreover, fungal hyphae also developed on many spent coffee grounds particles. If spent coffee grounds effects are compared with those described in the literature for other organic amendments, the same trend was observed in most of the soil physical properties although with a different intensity, principally with regard to structural stability.

Novel poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) andchitosan (CS) or 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and nanohydroxyapatite(nanoHAp) electrospinning-produced membranes were evaluated, in terms of theirbioactivity under exposure to simulated body fluid (SBF). After soaking them inSBF for 5, 8 and 15 days, the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showthe accumulation of calcium carbonate or calcium phosphate SBF on the surfaceof the nanohydroxyapatite (nanoHAp). This indicates that there might be anincreased bioactivity on the surface of the nanoHAp prepared by this method.
Zbadano bioaktywność nowych membran, otrzymywanych w wyniku elektroprzędzenia z hydrożeli poli(alkoholu winylowego) (PVA) z chitozanem (CS), metakrylanem 2-hydroksyetylu (HEMA) i/lub nanohydroksyapatytem (nanoHAp), poddanych działaniu symulowanego płynu ustrojowego (SBF). Metodą skaningowej mikroskopii elektronowej (SEM) stwierdzono, że po zanurzeniu wytworzonych membran w roztworze SBF na 5, 8 i 15dni na powierzchni cząstek nanoHAp w badanych próbkach nastąpiła akumulacja cząsteczek węglanów i fosforanów wapnia pochodzących z SBF, co dowodzi, że tą metodą można zwiększyć bioaktywność przygotowanych membran, przeznaczonych do zastosowania w rekonstrukcji tkanki kostnej.

Opis:
Novel silica aerogels were produced from carbon nanotubes/carbon black/polypyrrole (NTC/CB/PPy) blends, and their structure characterized by FT-IR analysis. X-ray diffraction analysis confirms the presence of amorphous silica and a new reflection at 2θ = 13°, which had not been reported before. SEM micrographs of the aerogels reveal the connectivity of the micropores of the material, along with the different fillers (NTC/CB/PPy), which allow to increase the water absorption of the aerogels and to increase thermal stability. The mechanical and thermal properties of the resulting aerogels are significantly better than those of similar materials reported in the literature.
Otrzymano nowe aerożele krzemionkowe z wykorzystaniem mieszanin nanorurek węglowych, sadzy węglowej i polipirolu (NTC/CB/PPy). Strukturę wytworzonych aerożeli scharakteryzowano na podstawie widm FT-IR. Metodą dyfrakcji rentgenowskiej potwierdzono w nich obecność amorficznej krzemionki, stwierdzono też, wcześniej nieopisywane, odbicie przy 2θ = 13°. Mikrofotografie SEM aerożeli wykazały połączenia mikroporów krzemionki z cząstkami różnych napełniaczy (NTC/CB/PPy), pozwalające zwiększyć absorpcję wody przez aerożele i ich stabilność termiczną. Wykazano, że właściwości mechaniczne i termiczne powstałych aerożeli są znacznie lepsze niż właściwości podobnych materiałów opisanych w literaturze.

Increasing the presence of non-conventional clean energy sources in Electrical Power Systems (EPS) is a global strategic goal. Particularly, photovoltaic systems are attractive due to their versatility, low maintenance cost, easy installation, noiselessness, etc. However, the integration of photovoltaic systems into EPS increases the necessary regulation actions performed by system generators due to stochastic fluctuations of solar radiation, especially on cloudy days. Even using complex models that consider many variables, solar irradiation and its corresponding photovoltaic power generation are difficult variables to forecast with accuracy in cloudy day scenarios. To address this problem, Energy Storage Systems (BESS) have been proposed as a solution to mitigate the variability of photovoltaic generation, which reduce the need to use traditional spinning reserves and provide auxiliary grid services. The BESS selection required to mitigate photovoltaic generation is directly related to the worst-case daily variability of photovoltaic generation in the short term. This paper proposes a practical estimation of daily perspective photo voltage solar generation curve in Electrical Power Systems.

The paper describes the synthesis and characterization of two third generation dendrimers from citric acid and a variant with a dendron terminated with lipoic acid. FTIR and C NMR confirmed the presence of signals characteristic for the dendrimer functional groups OH, C-O, C=O, C-H and C-S. DSC showed that, unlike citric acid, the dendrimer is amorphous. SEM revealed changes in the structure of citric acid particles in each dendrimer generation. In addition, the structure was more homogeneous. Dendrimers are hydrophobic due to ester linkages. Contact angle > 90° confirms their hydrophobic char-acter. Moreover, the dendrimer with a dendron terminated with lipoic acid absorbs Cu+2 and Fe+3metal ions, so it can be used as an adsorbent for heavy metals.
W pracy opisano syntezę i charakterystykę dwóch dendrymerów trzeciej generacji z kwasu cytrynowego oraz wariantu z dendronem zakończonym kwasem liponowym. Metodą FTIR i C NMR potwierdzono sygnały charakterystyczne dla grup funkcyjnych dendrymeru OH, C-O, C=O, C-H i C-S. Metodą DSC wykazano, że w odróżnieniu od kwasu cytrynowego dendrymer jest amorficzny. Mikrofotografie SEM wykazały zmiany w strukturze cząstek kwasu cytrynowego w każdym pokoleniu dendrymeru. Ponadto struktura była bardziej jednorodna. Dzięki wiązaniom estrowym otrzymane dendrymery są hydrofobowe, co potwierdza kąt zwilżania > 90°. Wykazano również, że dendrymer z dendronem zakończonym kwasem liponowym absorbuje jony metali Cu+2 i Fe+3, dzięki czemu może być stosowany jako adsorbent metali ciężkich.
