    Tekst prezentuje sposób interpretacji Międzynarodowych Spotkań Artystów, Naukowców i Teoretyków Sztuki w Osiekach poprzez kilka kluczowych strategii artystycznych oraz ich zastosowania w późniejszych działaniach - jako pewnego rodzaju zespołu wzorców i matrycy dla niezależnych inicjatyw artystycznych. Prezentowane wydarzenia, które miały miejsce po 1981 roku, po zakończeniu „Osiek”, świadczą o sile oddziaływania i powracającej potrzebie stojącej za większością podobnych działań i pozwalają zrozumieć zjawisko specyficznych metod organizowania się samych artystów i powoływania sytuacji oraz przestrzeni zapewniających im jak największą wolność wypowiedzi, tworzenia i funkcjonowania. Na elementy obecne w sposobie funkcjonowania „Osiek”, przeniesione w różnym stopniu do wielu inicjatyw dekady lat osiemdziesiątych to między innymi okolicznościowe publikacje składanych przez samych uczestników i pomiędzy nich dystrybuowane, poszerzanie kręgu uczestników o osoby spoza tzw. świata artystycznego, po poszukiwanie alternatywnych miejsc takim spotkaniom i konfrontacjom sprzyjających. Tekst opisuje takie zjawiska jak Sztuka prywatna, Kultura zrzuty , alternatywne miejsca sztuki, wydawnictwa artystyczne: Fabryka, Tango oraz niezależne wydarzenia artystyczne: Kolęda i Pielgrzyma Artystyczna, Plenery w Teofilowie, Plenery w Karlinie. Te inicjatywy jak i wiele innych podejmowanych w dekadzie lat osiemdziesiątych. łączy niezwykła energia i nieszablonowa odwaga uczestników. Nie wynikały one jednak jedynie z konfrontacji z ówczesną sytuacją polityczną lecz, tak jak i w dekadach poprzednich, z immamentnej wartości przenikającej ducha sztuki – potrzeby wolności. Prezentowane strategie odnaleźć można w licznych inicjatywach podejmowanych w kolejnych dekadach, aż po dzień dzisiejszy.

    The term ‘Pitch-In Culture’ first showed up in Łódź, in the middle of 1984, during an artistic-social meeting. The text describes the problems and controversies associated with research on this phenomenon. Problematic issues refer to both the scope and the time frame within which it acted, and the list of the participants. The author states, that maybe with time it grew so much that it started to function independently of its primary source. He pays attention to achievements that apparently existed on the margin of Polish art, but when considered with regard to the perspective of the Pitch-In Culture, they can show the whole phenomenon in a new light. The text describes a few selected events, that took place in Koszalin or were undertaken as initiatives of artists from Koszalin in the eighties. The author points to a few important elements that in his opinion are characteristic of activities within the Pitch-In Culture. He points to the modernist intellectual heritage and the post-modern approach to problems within the art of that period. Following Janusz Zagrodzki, the author of the term ‘Private Art’, the author focuses the functioning of the Pitch-In Culture within the private and unofficial sphere and following Józef Robakowski he focuses on keeping an individual and independent attitude as an element that is essential for making art. The author further states, that in the way Pitch-In Culture or ‘Private Art’ functioned, there are four important elements: the personal relationships and contacts of the participants, the spaces – enclaves that allowed for the organisation of events and confront attitudes, activating and annexing the activities of people from outside of so-called art community, as well as self-publishing. According to the author, probably the greatest manifestation of the Pitch- In Culture and ‘Private Art’ was the Artist Pilgrimage organised in September 1983 in Łódź. As part of the Pilgrimage there were exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, actions, performances and theoretical appearances that were presented on an equal basis and always ended with long discussions. The Christmas call event entitled NO SLOGAN [BEZ HASŁA] organised in Koszalin between the 10th and 12th of February 1984 was an event in return for inviting the artists from Koszalin to the Pilgrimage that happened a year earlier. The organisers were the people who participated in the event in Łódź: Ewa Kowalska, Grażyna Bogusz- Wolska, Andrzej Ciesielski and Stanisław Wolski. They invited 85 artists from the whole country, plus there also came many artists who were not formally invited but associated with the Pitch-In Culture movement. The next initiative by artists from Koszalin was a cyclical event, organised between 1982 and 1988every year in mid-December, AFTER A YEAR organised by Andrzej Ciesielski and Andrzej Słowik. Artists from the whole of Poland presented their current art practice. For the Koszalin community open-air workshops were an important activity, that were in fact connected with the tradition of the Osieki workshops organised since 1963 and ended after the imposition of martial law in 1981. The situation was changed by a series of workshops organised under a name “We invite you to work” between 1987-1989 in Karlino and in 1990 in Darłowo. The initiators and first artistic curators were Andrzej Słowik and Maria Idziak who in 1989 entrusted the function to Wojciech Zamiara and in 1990 to Andrzej Ciesielski. Also important for the functioning of the Koszalin community within the Polandwide circuit was the Presbitery (Na Plebanii) Gallery run by an artist Andrzej Ciesielski and between 1986 and 1990 there were 35 meetings organised in it. As the author states, the Pitch-In Culture was born out of the need for a totally different way of presenting one’s own artistic practice, the exchange of information and joint action. Without friendship, knowing one another, a willingness to work and even without some personal antagonisms, the whole movement would not have had a chance to spread so broadly around the country and accept so many versatile artists as for example as it happened in Koszalin.

    Opis:
    Ectopic pancreas is defined as the presence of normotypic pancreatic tissue lying outside its anatomical location and lacking nervous or vascular connections with the pancreas. Ectopic pancreas in the stomach and duodenum represent locations that most often result in clinical symptoms. So far, 22 cases of such locations have been described, including 16 patients with lesions located in the major duodenal papilla and 6 patients with lesions located in the common bile duct. The severity of jaundice depends on the size of ectopic lesion. Treatment is initiated only in the case of the occurrence of clinical symptoms or ectopic tumour, and the choice of therapeutic method depends on the size and location of the lesion. The prognosis is favourable, even in the case of late sequelae. This article presents a case of a 54-year-old male with focal ectopic pancreas in the vicinity of the ampulla of Vater resulting in the obstruction of the opening of the common bile duct into the duodenum and, consequently, mechanical jaundice.
    Trzustka ektopowa definiowana jest jako obecność normotypowego utkania trzustki poza jej anatomicznym położeniem bez jakiegokolwiek nerwowego lub naczyniowego połączenia z właściwym narządem. Żołądek i dwunastnica to lokalizacje ektopowej trzustki najczęściej dające objawy kliniczne. Dotychczas opisano 22 przypadki takiej lokalizacji, z czego u 16 pacjentów zmiana znajdowała się w brodawce większej dwunastnicy, a u 6 w przewodzie żółciowym wspólnym. Nasilenie żółtaczki zależy od rozmiaru ogniska ektopowego. Leczenie podejmuje się jedynie w przypadku występowania objawów klinicznych lub stwierdzenia nowotworu w ektopii, a wybór metody leczenia zależy od wielkości i lokalizacji zmiany. Rokowanie jest pomyślne, nawet w przypadku wystąpienia następstw odległych. Artykuł prezentuje przypadek 54-letniego mężczyzny, u którego ognisko ektopowej trzustki w okolicy brodawki Vatera stało się przyczyną niedrożności ujścia przewodu żółciowego wspólnego do dwunastnicy, a w efekcie żółtaczki mechanicznej.

    Opis:
    The influence of gelatinization and freeze-drying process on the physico-chemical and rheological properties of cereal starches was evaluated, and it was observed that modified starches revealed an increased water binding capacity and solubility when compared to dry starches, while exhibiting the same amylose and fat contents. The molecular weights of starches decreased after modification which resulted in the lower viscosity of dissolved modified samples in comparison to native starch pastes. As it was observed by scanning electron microscopy modified starches were characterized by an expanded surface, a uniform structure and high porosity.

    Is Age a Risk Factor of Postoperative Complications in Colorectal Cancer?

    Colorectal cancer is the most common malignant neoplasm in elderly with peak of incidence in 7. and 8. decade of life. Elderly patients with colorectal cancer more often require surgery. Advanced age of patients seems to increase the risk of postoperative complications. The aim of the study was to compare the frequency of early complications in two groups of patients: under 75 and over 75, undergoing elective colorectal cancer surgery. Material and methods. 440 consecutive adult patients subjected to colorectal cancer surgery between 08.2006 to 10.2011 in Oncological Surgery Department, Gdynia Centre of Oncology. Group A (over 75 year-of-life): 109 patients, median 79 and group B (up to 75 year-of-life): 331 patients, median 65. Patients requiring emergency surgery were excluded from the study. Postoperative 30-day mortality, anastomotic leakage, wound infection, bowel obstruction, postoperative respiratory and circulatory insufficiency were among analyzed complications. Results. Symptomatic disease was observed in 81.6% of group A and in 83% of group B. Groups A and B were comparable concerning: BMI, gender, tumor staging, rate of curative and palliative resections, and duration of hospital stay. Accompanying diseases were more common in group A (83% vs 65%; p<0.0002). Early complications occurred in 21.1% of patients from group A and in 19.9% from group B. The rate of reoperation in early perioperative period didn’t differ (6.4% vs 5.7%). Features like: age, gender, additional illnesses, tumor location and staging did not influence the occurrence of perioperative complications. Conclusions. Age itself is not a risk factor for postoperative complications in spite of higher rate of accompanying diseases in elderly.
