Przedmiotem rozważań w prezentowanych badaniach była refleksyjność studentów pedagogiki na różnych poziomach edukacji akademickiej. Badania miały charakter studiów porównawczych.Pomiar myślenia refleksyjnego studentów został dokonany za pomocą zaadaptowanego do warunków polskich Kwestionariusza do Mierzenia Poziomów Myślenia Refleksyjnego (Questionnaire to Measure the Level of Reflective Thinking) autorstwa Kember i in. (2000). W narzędziu tym jest mowa o czterech poziomach funkcjonowania poznawczego w ramach refleksyjności, mianowicie o: „działaniach rutynowych”, „rozumieniu”, „refleksji” i „krytycznej refleksji”. Wyniki badań potwierdziły założenie, że trzy grupy studentów z różnych poziomów studiów różnią się w zakresie refleksyjnego myślenia.
What was the subject of considerations in this study was the reflectiveness of pedagogy students at different levels of academic education. The research had a comparative nature.The measurement of students’ reflective thinking was made by the Polish adaptation of Questionnaire to Measure the Level of Reflective Thinking by Kember et al. (2000). The reflective thinking may be categorised into four distinct stages: “habitual action”, “understanding”, “reflection” and “critical reflection”. The results confirmed the assumption that three groups of students at a different level of studies differ in their reflective thinking.

Celem artykułu jest analiza semantyczna pojęcia dobra dziecka pojawiającego się w projekcie nowego Kodeksu rodzinnego. Materiał badawczy to dokument prawny, ale analizowano go z perspektywy interdyscyplinarnej. Jako podstawowe postawiono następujące pytania badawcze: jakie znaczenia stanowią treściową dominantę pojęcia dobra dziecka, a które pojawiają się rzadko? Czy wokół pojęcia dobra dziecka pojawiają się jakieś dylematy, rozbieżności, punkty newralgiczne? Utworzono sześć odrębnych sieci (ekwiwalenty, określenia, asocjacje, opozycje, opisy działań i opisy działań wobec dobra dziecka), które po uporządkowaniu złożyły się na pole semantyczne pojęcia dobra dziecka. W ten sposób odnaleziono realne znaczenie i wiązki skojarzeń układające się wokół pojęcia będącego przedmiotem badań. Każda sieć została opisana po kolei. Na podstawie analiz – z wykorzystaniem sieci semantycznej – zbudowano szczegółową definicję dobra dziecka funkcjonującą w projekcje nowego Kodeksu rodzinnego.
The best interests of the child in the project of the Family Code – a semantic analysis of the concept ABSTRACT The aim of the article is a semantic analysis of the concept of the best interests of the child appearing in the draft of the new Family Code. The research material is a legal document, though it was analysed from an interdisciplinary perspective. The main research question was the following: what meanings constitute the content dominant of the best interests of the child concept, and which appear rarely, if there are any dilemmas, discrepancies, and critical points related to the concept of the best interests of the child. Six separate networks were created (equivalents, terms, associations, oppositions, descriptions of actions, and descriptions of actions regarding the best interests of the child), which, after being put in order created the semantic field of the concept of the best interests of the child. This way, the real meaning and clusters of associations related to the analysed concept were found. Each network is described separately. Based on the analysis –by using the semantic network – a detailed definition of the best interests of the child existing in the draft of the new Family Code was determined.

Research objectives (aims) and problem(s): The article presents the results of research on the development of students’ reflective thinking. The purpose of the research was to determine the level of students’ reflexivity when they began participating in a tutoring project, and then to verify it after the project ended. Research methods: The first phase of research was conducted in October 2020. Two groups of students took part in the research: those undergoing tutoring (n = 70) and those not undergoing tutoring (n = 77). The tool used was the Polish adaptation of the Reflective Thinking Questionnaire. The four scales of the questionnaire are habitual action, understanding, reflection and critical reflection. The research – in the same groups – was repeated in 2023. Structure of the article: The article has a classic layout. First, the concepts of tutoring and reflectivity in education are presented. Then the research method and results are presented. Research findings and their impact on the development of educational sciences: The importance of the tutoring method for the development of reflexivity was recognised by analysing the results of both the tutored and non-tutored groups. The tutored group developed in terms of reflexivity and critical reflection, but also in habitual action. Students who did not participate in tutoring did not make such progress. The research also established relationships between other educational and sociocultural variables and students’ levels of reflexivity. Academic performance, knowledge of foreign languages and parents’ education were taken into account. Conclusions and/or recommendations: The research made it possible to better identify the attributes of the most talented students, and to further identify possible opportunities for their development. An additional added value of this study is that the participants will be better able to understand themselves in terms of development. Those from the tutoring group were especially interested in their individual results.

The aim of the article is to present the changes in the education – from transmissive teaching to transformative learning. The article presents the basic assumptions and definitions of learning, teaching and education. Next, the main learning paradigms are shown: transmissive, behavioral, cognitive and constructive. Transformative learning – key to this work, is based on the paradigmatic framework of social constructivism, but it is clearly related to critical theories. Transformative learning is presented as the most appropriate educational pattern corresponding to the modern times. The final considerations show transformative learning in relation to contemporary educational, national, European and global regulations.
Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie przemian w zakresie edukacji – od transmisyjnego nauczania do transformatywnego uczenia się. Artykuł przedstawia podstawowe założenia i definicje uczenia się, nauczania oraz edukacji. W dalszej kolejności przedstawiono główne paradygmaty uczenia się: transmisyjny, behawioralny, kognitywny oraz konstruktywny. Kluczowe dla tej pracy uczenie się transformatywne oparte jest na paradygmatycznej ramie konstruktywizmu społecznego, ale wyraźnie nawiązuje do teorii krytycznych. Transformatywne uczenie się jest ukazane jako najodpowiedniejszy – odpowiadający czasom współczesnym – wzorzec edukacyjny. Końcowe rozważania dotyczą uczenia się transformatywnego w nawiązaniu do współczesnych regulacji edukacyjnych: krajowych, europejskich i globalnych.

Wprowadzenie: Artykuł jest próbą ukazania konstruktywistycznego środowiska uczenia się jako modelu, koncepcji, która zakłada, że uczeń jest aktywnym, a nie pasywnym uczestnikiem w procesie zdobywania wiedzy pogłębionej, elastycznej i systemowej, a nie fragmentarycznej, sztywnej czy mechanicznie odtwarzanej. W tekście skupiono się na współczesnych potrzebach uczniów w ujęciu konstruktywizmu radykalnego i społecznego. Nakreślono główne wymiary konstruktywizmu krytycznego i zaprezentowano elementy konstruktywistycznego środowiska uczenia się opartego na koncepcji Petera Taylora i Barrego Frasera. Cel badań:Celem jest ukazanie konstruktywizmu krytycznego jako zbioru różnorodnych teorii, pojęć, koncepcji stwarzających warunki do samodzielnego konstruowania wiedzy oraz tworzenia przyjaznego środowiska uczenia się. Stan wiedzy: Pojęcie konstruktywistycznego środowiska uczenia się wywodzi się z imperatywu nauczania (John Dewey, Jean Piaget, Lew Wygotski i Howard Gardner). Zakłada, że uczenie się to aktywny proces konstruowania wiedzy na podstawie doświadczenia uczącego się i taka konstrukcja zazwyczaj jest zakończona subiektywnie i metapoznawczo. Pojęciem konstruktywizmu w kontekście uczenia się w klasie szkolnej posługują się w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach dość często zarówno teoretycy (wykładowcy akademiccy i badacze), jak i praktycy (nauczyciele szkolni). Podsumowanie: W artykule analizujemy, jaką rolę odgrywa konstruktywistyczne środowisko uczenia się, które radykalnie kwestionuje wizje ucznia jako pasywnego odbiorcy i nadaje mu status aktywnego podmiotu mającego wkład w konstruowanie środowiska przyjaznego uczeniu się. Zgodnie z konstruktywistyczną teorią uczenia się edukacja powinna być postrzegana jako wspomaganie ucznia w procesie wytwarzania znaczeń, które umożliwiają konstruowanie własnego rozumienia świata.
Introduction:This article is an attempt to show the constructivist learning environment as a model, as a concept that assumes that the student is an active, not a passive participant in the process of gaining in-depth, flexible and systemic knowledge rather than fragmentary, rigid or mechanically reproduced. The text focuses on the contemporary needs of students based on radical and social constructivism. The main dimensions of critical constructivism and elements of a constructivist learning environment are outlined based on Peter Taylor and Barry Fraser’s concept. Research Aim:The aim is to show critical constructivism as a set of various theories, concepts creating conditions for independent construction of knowledge and creating a friendly-learning environment. Evidence-based Facts:The concept is derived from the teaching imperative (John Dewey, Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky and Howard Gardner). It assumes that learning is an active process of constructing knowledge based on the experience of the learner and such construction is usually completed subjectively and metacognitively). The concept of constructivism is quite often used by both theoreticians (academic lecturers and researchers) as well as practitioners (school teachers). Summary: In the article, we analyze the role played by a constructivist learning environment that radically questions the vision of a student as a passive recipient and gives him the status of an active subject contributing to the construction of a learning-friendly environment. Education should be seen as supporting the student in the process of creating meanings that allow to construct your own understanding of the world.

The paper contains advanced statistical analysis, original methods and a significant contribution to the claim that measurement of reflexivity is possible. It is based on original empirical research using a sample of 334 students from different faculties and educational levels. It utilises a qualitative questionnaire containing a 4-level reflexivity scale, designed by Kember et al. (2000), translated into the Polish language and context. The aim of the study was to identify whether students’ reflexivity levels can be associated with the level of their study, taking into account possible masking effects of their age. Differences were tested for faculty and system of training (full time or part-time). Analysis confirms the strongest relation between reflexive thinking, system of tuition and level of studies. There was no connection found between reflexive thinking and the faculty of study or the respondents’ gender.

The concept of reflective practice focuses on the idea of lifelong learning, where a practitioner analyses his own experiences in order to learn from them. According to education, reflective practice refers to the process of studying their own teaching methods and determining the best outcomes by educators and students. At the beginning, the article focuses on the definition of terms such as reflectivity and reflective learning. Subsequently, this article presents six models of reflective learning. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje badania przeprowadzone w celu uzyskania odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób tutorzy (nauczyciele akademiccy) i tutees (studenci) formują osądy na temat kilku trudnych poznawczo problemów. W badaniu skoncentrowano się na opisie intelektualnych procedur stosowanych w refleksyjnym osądzaniu tutorów i tutees. Rozstrzygano, na ile jest to myślenie na poziomie prerefleksyjnym, quasirefleksyjnym i refleksyjnym. Podczas badania tutorzy i tutees byli postawieni wobec kilku niejednoznacznych tematów i mieli za pomocą krótkich odpowiedzi ustosunkować się do własnych źródeł poznania, przekonań i wiedzy. Badanym zadawano serię pytań skoncentrowanych wokół pięciu tematów, np. stosowania leków w terapii zaburzeń psychicznych; przyczyn alkoholizmu. Badania zostały przeprowadzone za pomocą pisemnego kwestionariusza zainspirowanego Wywiadem osądzania refleksyjnego (Reflective Judgment Interwiew), opracowanego przez King i Kitchener w oparciu o Model osądzania refleksyjnego. Model zakłada trzy stadia myślenia: prerefleksyjne, quasirefleksyjne i refleksyjne, podzielone na siedem etapów. Analiza wyników badań pozwoliła ustalić m.in. to z jakich źródeł korzystają badani uzasadniając swe sądy, na ile są pewni swojej wiedzy, czy dopuszczają inne punkty widzenia. Tutorzy najczęściej prezentowali stadium refleksyjne, a tutees stadium quasi-refleksyjne. Ustalono jednak, że poziom refleksyjności niektórych badanych spośród tutees zmieniał się w zależności od rozważanego zagadnienia, natomiast w grupie tutorów nie zaobserwowano istotnych różnic w myśleniu refleksyjnym po zmianie tematu. Dodatkowe analizy z uwzględnieniem płci i kierunku studiów nie wykazały znaczących różnic międzygrupowych w myśleniu studentów. Badani tutorzy i tutees okazali się grupą niezwykłą, kompetentną i wyrafinowaną w zakresie rozwiązywania trudnych poznawczo problemów. Rekomendowane jest zindywidualizowane podejście do edukacji studentów poprzez stosowanie metody tutoringu.

Dbałość o jakość badań pedagogicznych podyktowana jest wieloma czynnikami. Celem opracowania jest ogólna charakterystyka refleksyjność jako kategorii kluczowej w procesie badawczym i szczególnie ważnej w czasach współczesnych określanych jako niepewne i zrelatywizowane. Punktem wyjścia jest ogólny opis kategorii refleksyjności. Następnie nawiązano do tego, jak w naukach społecznych i humanistycznych wyglądało przejście od pozytywistycznego paradygmatu badawczego do wielu rywalizujących ze sobą lub uzupełniających się orientacji metodologicznych. Zasadniczą część artykułu stanowi opis atrybutów i założeń badań refleksyjnych. Do najistotniejszych należą: poznanie, które nigdy nie będzie całkowicie pewne i obiektywne; odstąpienie od założenia, że badacz może pozostać bezstronny; wiedza społecznie i osobiście zaangażowana; zmienność jako dominująca cecha we współczesnych opisach świata; znaczenie teorii badań w procesie poznania; badane zjawiska nie są odizolowane; proces badawczy nie musi prowadzić to wytworzenia nowej teorii.

The article presents reflexivity as an important attribute of pedagogical research. Introduction contains a brief historical outline of the tradition of social and humanistic research (from the positivist paradigm to the relativization, from a single paradigm to multiplicity of paradigms). Nowadays a pluri-paradigmatic approach became more popular amongst in methodology and is equated with the maturity of discipline. The main part of the article presents the most important assumptions of reflective studies. The first premise concerns cognition, which will never be completely certain and objective. Researcher could remain impartial. Knowledge is socially and personally involved. The most common feature in contemporary world descriptions is changeability. No research – and especially reflexive – can/should be planned or carried out without knowing the theory of the research subject. There are no isolated phenomena in the socio-cultural reality surrounding humanity. Reflexive studies recognize the relationship between the subjective perspective of the subject and the objective structure that creates the living space of the subjects studied. The reflexive stream of study does not have to lead to the creation of new theory.

The paper contributes to mental health studies of children and youth’s suicide and suicide attempts. Inspired by early sociological concepts such as Durkheim’s contribution to understanding suicide through social anomy, we ran statistical analysis of worldwide suicide rates and tested for correlation between suicide rates amongst children and youth and “Big Data” on social, educational, economic and environmental factors around the world. Amongst them we considered 88 variables including Human Development Index (HDI) and its indicators, rates of religious observance and denomination, and even the hours of sunlight and the average temperature in each country. The statistical section of the paper is preceded by the results of analysis from the anonymised mental health records of adolescents with suicidal and self-harming tendencies. The data came from a Polish psychotherapist and was accompanied by in-depth analysis of contributing factors from purposely selected, attempted suicide cases, in order to enrich the statistical perspective with biological, individual, environmental and situational factors. Finally, we identify trigger factors and protective indicators, derived from both the statistical and the empirical part of our study.

In the empirical study of intercultural exchange presented in this paper, we assessed Erasmus students for knowledge of English as a foreign language (EFL) and their level of reflective judgement, to test for correlation between the two variables. The basic theoretical framing was derived from King and Kitchener’s (1994) reflective judgment model (RJM), based on 3 different levels of reflectivity, connected to progressive cognitive development of adults: pre-reflective, quasireflective and reflective. The results of the study show that the students displayed high levels of reflective judgment and importantly, we found a correlation between their standard of English and their level of reflectivity. The ability to communicate in English is a prerequisite to participation in the Erasmus programme, therefore it was expected that the students would score well for English knowledge. However, the results of the study suggest that being competent in the use of English as a foreign language may be a predictor of higher reflectivity amongst students in higher education. This creates a controversial pedagogical implication suggesting that learning English as a foreign language to a high standard fuels reflectivity.
