Opis:
The Schiff base is used for the first time in the preparation of gold nanoparticles by the interaction of tris (triphenylphosphinegold)oxonium tetrafloroborate in acetonitrile medium. The gold nanostructures were characterized using UV-vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The scanning electron microscopy allowed the examination of the morphology of the gold nanostructured film obtained by chemical deposition retains properties of individual particles and remain separated without undergoing aggregation.

A new series of four transition metal complexes of a Schiff base derived from salicylaldehyde and glycine, viz. [N-salicylidene glycinato diaqua cobalt (II) dimer] (SGCo)2, [N- salicylideneglycinato-di-aqua-nickel(ll)dimer] (SGN)2, [N-salicylideneglycinato-aqua-copper(II)] (SGC) and [N-salicylidene glycinato diaqua zinc(II) dimer] (SGZ)2 have been synthesized and characterized through a rapid, simple, and efficient methodology in excellent yield. These compounds were screened for in vitro antibacterial activities against six pathogenic bacteria, such as Shigella sonnei, Escherichia coli, Bacilus subtilis, Sarcina lutea, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas arioginosa. The antibacterial activity was determined by the disc diffusion method using DMSO as solvent. The results indicate that (SGC) compound exhibit a significant antibacterial activity, depending on the bacterial strain and (SGCo)2, (SGN)2 and (SGZ)2 compounds show a moderate sensitivity even with higher doses. All these compounds were found to possess cytotoxic effect.

We have reported some novel N’-[(1)-ethylidene]-2-(6-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-4-yl) acetohydrazide synthesized by conventional method. The reaction of 2-(6-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-4-yl)acetohydrazide with substituted benzaldehyde in methanol as a solvent yielded a series of (7a-l). The structures of all synthesized compounds are well characterized by Mass, FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis. Moreover, all synthesized compounds were screened for in vitro antimicrobial activity against the gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacilluas subtilis) and gram negative (Escherichia coli, P. aeruginosa, K. pneunonae, Enterobacter) bacterial strain. In which some the compounds show potential inhibition against the test organisms.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Schiff base metal complex on the bio-compatible hydroxyapatite (HAp) ceramics. The reason for that was to produce, as the final product, the HAp in powder form, with extraordinary features like analgesic, antibacterial properties. This effect was provided by doping HAp powder with some Schiff base complexes during the powder extraction process. Schiff base complex used in the study was synthesized by condensation of primary amines with carbonyl compounds. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by means of infrared (IR) spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Characterizations of the extracted HAp powders were carried out by using scanning electron microscopy for surface analysis and EDS analysis, X-ray diffraction for phase determination and grain size distribution. The bactericide effects of Zn SAE-added pure HAp were tested on E.Coli bacteria for the content range of 0-7 wt.% of Zn-SAE. Consequently, bacterial activity of the calcium phosphate resulting powders was evolved by adding the Zn SAE Schiff base complex.

The synthesis and characterization of hexa co-ordinated ruthenium(II) complexes of the type [Ru(CO)(B)(L)] (where B = PPh3, AsPh3, py or pip and L = dibasic tetradentate Schiff base ligand) were synthesized from the reaction of [RuHCl(CO)(B)(EPh3)2] (where E = P, B = PPh3, py or pip, E = As, B = AsPh3) with different tetradentate ligands. The ligands were derived by the condensation of 5-chloro-4-methyl-2-hydroxy benzophenone with ethylenediamine, propylenediamine and o-phenylene-diamine in 1:1 molar ratio. All the compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis and spectral (FT-IR, UV-VIS and 1H-NMR) methods. An octahedral environment around Ru(II) ion has been tentatively proposed for all the complexes.

Analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of four transition metal complexes of a Schiff base derived from salicylaldehyde and glycine, viz. [N-salicylideneglycinato diaqua cobalt(II) dimer] (SGCo)2, [N-salicylideneglycinato-di-aqua-nickel(ll)dimer] (SGN)2, [N-salicylideneglycinato-aqua-copper(II)] (SGC) and [N-salicylideneglycinato diaqua zinc(II) dimer] (SGZ)2 were studied in swiss albino mice. 10 mg/kg (p.o) dose for each compound were selected throughout the research work. The analgesic activity was determined by acetic acid induced writhing and tail immersion methods. All such data were compared with standard drugs at the dose of 10 mg/kg (p.o. The anti-inflammatory activity of the test compounds was determined by the carragenan induced mice paw edema inhibition method.). Analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of the test compounds at 10 mg/kg (p.o.) were quite comparable to those of standard drugs at 10 mg/kg (p.o.). All these compounds can be considered as potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents.

The Mn₂O₃ nanoparticles have been prepared using solid state thermal decomposition of MnL¹ and MnL², L¹=N,N'-bis(2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone)-1,3-propanediamine and L²=N,N'-bis(2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone)-1,2-cyclohexanediamine, at 500°C for 3 h and characterized by the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction confirm that the formed product at 500°C is Mn₂O₃. The MnL¹ and MnL² complexes were prepared from the one-pot reaction of MnCl₂·H₂O, diamine and 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone and characterized by elemental analyses, the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetry.

The occurrence of Multi Drug Resistant (MDR) infectious microbial strains has been increased upto alarming level which affects the public health worldwide. To cure this problem, a library of s-triazinyl derivatives comprising schiff base or chalcone motif have been rationalized, synthesized and screened for their in vitro antibacterial activity against five bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus MTCC 96, Bacillus subtilis MTCC 441, Escherichia coli MTCC 739, Pseudomonas aeruginosa MTCC 741 and Klebsiella pneumoniae MTCC 109) and four fungal strains (Aspergillus niger MTCC 282, Aspergillus fumigates MTCC 343, Aspergillus clavatus MTCC 1323, Candida albicans MTCC 183) using broth dilution technique. All the newly synthesized scaffolds were further evaluated for their in vitro anti-TB efficacy against the tubercular strain (Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv) using Lowenstein-Jensen MIC method. All the derivatives were well characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, elemental analysis as well as mass spectroscopy.

Opis:
The oxidovanadium(V) Schiff base complex of formula [VO(L)(EtO)(EtOH)] (where H2L = Schiff base ligand derived from 5-methoxysalicylaldehyde and phenylacetic hydrazide) was synthesized and described. Complex crystalizes in triclinic P-1 space group. Octahedral geometry of the vanadium(V) centre is filed with oxido, ONO L2- ligand and two solvent molecules both in ethoxo and as neutral ethanol form. The complex is neutral, with 5- and 6-memebered ring formed by ONO ligand coordinated in octahedral plane with oxido and EtOH ligands in vertical positions. Two isomers are present in the unit cell, with different position of 5-membered ring versus vertical plane. The elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, thermogravimetry and spectroscopy (IR, UV-Vis) measurements were measured and are discussed. The cyclic voltammetry measurements show irreversible processes for vanadium(IV/V) redox system. Thermal stability both in a solid state (TG and SDTA measurements) as well as in solutions (at pH 7.0 and 2.0, studied by UV-Vis spectroscopy) is discussed.

The bidentate Schiff base ligand 4-chloro-2-[1-(4-phenylphenyl)ethylideneamino]phenol and its mononuclear Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes have been synthesized. Ligand and metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductivity, ¹H- and ¹³C-NMR, the Fourier transform infrared, UV-Vis, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, and thermogravimetric-differential thermogravimetric studies. The results suggest that the mononuclear complexes have a metal to ligand mole ratio of 1:2 and the metal(II) ions are coordinated with the phenolic oxygen and imine nitrogen atoms. Octahedral structures are proposed for the complexes of the Schiff base ligand. Furthermore, the complexes were checked for their efficiency to decolorize the dye methylene blue. In our experiments we found that metal(II) complexes had an acceptable decolorization efficiency against the dye methylene blue.

Corrosion inhibition performance of mild steel in nitric acid solution containing different concentration of anisalidine derivative Schiff bases viz. N- (4-nitro phenyl) p-anisalidine (SB1), N- (4-chloro phenyl) p-anisalidine (SB2), N- (4-phenyl) p-anisalidine (SB3), N- (4-methoxy phenyl) p-anisalidine (SB4), N- (4-hydroxy phenyl) p-anisalidine (SB5) has been investigated using mass loss, thermometric and potentiostate polarization technique. Inhibition efficiencies of Schiff bases have been evaluated at different acid strength. The inhibition efficiency was found larger than their parent amines. Inhibition efficiencies of synthesized Schiff bases increase with inhibitor concentration. Inhibition efficiency increases up to 98.32% with ansalidine derivative Schiff base.

In perovskite solar cells, series of symmetrical and asymmetrical imino-naphthalimides were tested as hole-transporting materials. The compounds exhibited high thermal stability at the temperature of the beginning of thermal decomposition above 300 °C. Obtained imino-naphthalimides were electrochemically active and their adequate energy levels confirm the application possibility in the perovskite solar cells. Imino-naphthalimides were absorbed with the maximum wavelength in the range from 331 nm to 411 nm and emitted light from the blue spectral region in a chloroform solution. The presented materials were tested in the perovskite solar cells devices with a construction of FTO/b-TiO2/m-TiO2/perovskite/ HTM/Au. For comparison, the reference perovskite cells were also performed (without hole-transporting materials layer). Of all the proposed materials tested as hole-transporting materials, the bis-(imino-naphthalimide) containing in core the triphenylamine structure showed a power conversion efficiency at 1.10% with a short-circuit current at 1.86 mA and an open-circuit voltage at 581 mV.

A series of novel benzotriazole-substituted 1,3,4-thiadiazole-2(3H)-thione derivatives was synthesized by cyclization of Schiff base. The structures were recognized on the foundation of spectral tools and their purity by elemental analysis. All the compounds were preliminary evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against five bacterial strains viz [Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA; ATCC 43300), Klebsiella pneumoniae (ATCC 700603), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Acinetobacter baumannii (ATCC 19606), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853)] and two fungi Strains viz. [Candida albicans (ATCC 90028), Cryptococcus neoformans (ATCC 208821)]. Several compounds exhibited remarkable antimicrobial activity, out of 15 compounds, three compounds viz. 5a, 5g and 5i showed promising antifungal activities with no signs of human cells cytotoxic [HEK293: Human Embryonic Kidney cells (ATCC CRL-1573)] and haemolytic activity [Whole blood (ARCBS 5400 00150)].

A new series of Schiff bases were synthesized for the first time by the condensation of substituted aldehyde and 3,5-dichloropyridin-4-amine in ethanol (1:1). The structure of Schiff bases were experimentally characterized by using IR and 1H NMR spectroscopic methods. The structural and vibrational properties of the studied molecules were investigated theoretically by performing density functional theory (DFT) to access reliable results to the experimental values and the calculation results showed good agreement with the experimental ones. The calculated HOMO and LUMO energies showed that charge transfer occurs within the molecule. Atomic charges and molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) have been calculated at the B3LYP method and standard 6-31G(d,p) basis set starting from optimized geometry.

The density, viscosity and sound velocity of five Schiff bases (1-5) derivatives in DMSO solutions have been studied at 303.15 K over a wide range of concentration. From these experimental data, some acoustical parameters such as Molar volume (Vm), Specific Acoustic Impedance (Z), Adiabatic compressibility (βad), Intermolecular Free Length (Lf), Rao’s Constant (R), Molar compressibility (W), Relaxation time(τ), van der Waals constant (b), Relaxation strength (r), Relative association (RA), Isothermal compressibility (βT ) , Isothermal expansion co-efficient (α) ,Free volume (Vf) and Internal pressure (πi) and Ultrasonic attenuation (α/f²) have been evaluated. A fairly good correlation between a given parameter and concentration is observed. The results are interpreted in terms of molecular interactions like solvent-solvent, solvent-solute and solute-solute interactions.

Two novel Schiff base ligands, 2,2'-((pentane-2,4-diylidene)bis(azanylylidene))bis(4-chlorophenol) and 2,2'-((pentane-2,4-diylidene)bis(azanylylidene))bis(4-methylphenol) were prepared by condensation reaction of acetylacetone with 2-amino-4-chlorophenol and 2-amino-4-methylphenol, respectively. Mononuclear Cu(II) complex of each ligand was also synthesized. These compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, the Fourier transform infrared spectra, UV-Vis, molar conductivity, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The ligands have been further characterized by ¹H- and ¹³C-NMR. The results suggest that the metal complexes of the ligands have a metal:ligand ratio of 1:1 and the Cu(II) ions are coordinated by the phenolic oxygen atoms and imine nitrogen atoms of the ligands. Moreover, the quantum chemical calculations of the compounds have been performed using the density functional theory. It has been found that the calculated spectroscopic values are in a good agreement with experimental data.

We have reported herein the synthesis of a novel quinone derivative ligand containing the Schiff base and its Cu(II) complex starting from 1,4-naphthoquinone. Synthesized compounds were characterized using the Fourier transform infrared, UV-Vis, elemental analysis, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, molar conductivity, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The free ligand was also characterized by ¹H- and ¹³C-NMR spectra. Elemental analyses, stoichiometric and spectroscopic data indicated that the metal:ligand ratio is 1:2 and octahedral structure is proposed for the metal complex of the Schiff base ligand. Computational quantum calculations were also performed using DFT/B3LYP level of theory with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set for the synthesized ligand. It was found that the experimental and theoretical spectroscopic data were consistent.

The literature review reveal that [1,4]-oxazine derivatives represent one of the most active classes of compounds possessing wide spectrum of biodynamic activities and use as potent therapeutic agents. In the present work, a series of Schiff base of 2-(2,3-dihydro-2-oxonaphtho[2,1-b][1,4]oxazin-1-yl)acetohydrazide, 5a-5j has been synthesized using 1-aminonaphthalen-2-ol. Various aromatic aldehyde were react with carbohydrazide 4 in the presence of acid to produce the 2-oxonaphtho[2,1-b][1,4]oxazin Schiff base derivatives with good yields. All synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, NMR and Mass spectrometry analysis.

Schiff bases are aldehyde- or ketone-like compounds in which the carbonyl group is replaced by an imine or azomethine group. In this work, (E)-N-(3-bromo-4-fluorobenzylidene)-4-nitrobenzenamine have been synthesized and characterized by IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectral studies. Density functional theory (DFT) has been used to optimize geometrical parameters, atomic charges, vibrational wavenumbers and intensity of vibrational bands. The molecular properties HOMO-LUMO, NBO were calculated using B3LYP/6-311G (d, p) basis set. The polarizability and first order hyperpolariza-bility of the title Compound was calculated and interpreted.

Four new symmetrical Schiff bases derived from 2,2’-diamino-4,4’-dimethyl-1,1’-biphenyl-salicylaldehyde have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and different spectroscopic techniques. The reaction of 2,2’-diamino-4,4’-dimethyl-1,1’-biphenyl with two equivalents of 5-tert-butyl-, 3,5-dinitro-, 3,5-dibromo- and 3-tert-butyl-salicylaldehyde yielded 2,2’-bis(5-tert-butyl-salicylideneamino)-4,4’-dimethyl-1,1’-biphenyl (A1) as well as the 3,5-dinitro- (A2), 3,5-dibromo- (A3) and 3-tert-butyl- (A4) substituted derivatives. The tetradentate ligands were then reacted with copper-, manganese- and zinc-acetate producing the tetra-coordinate metal complexes which were characterized by FTIR, UV-Visible spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility and elemental analysis. Zinc complexes were characterized by 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory were carried out to fully optimize and examine the molecular geometries of complexes. Subsequently, IR vibrational and UV-Vis absorption spectra were computed and correlated with the observed values and the results are in good agreement with the experimental data. The anticancerous and antiproliferative activity of the A3 ligand and its metal complexes were determined.

Schiff’s base iron salt can be used as a new and effective antioxidant for rubber compounds. The tensile strength after 96 h of aging was approx. 36% and 12% higher, respectively, than in the case of the antioxidants 4010NA and BHT used. Natural rubber vulcanizate (NR) containing the iron salt of Schiff’s base showed excellent rheological and mechanical properties, as well as very good thermal stability. These properties were far superior to that of other commercially available antioxidant rubber blends.
Sól żelazowa zasady Schiffa może być stosowana jako nowy i skuteczny przeciwutleniacz do mieszanek gumowych. Wytrzymałość na rozciąganie po 96 h starzenia była odpowiednio o ok. 36% i 12% większa niż w przypadku stosowanych przeciwutleniaczy 4010NA i BHT. Wulkanizat kauczuku naturalnego (NR) zawierający sól żelazową zasady Schiffa wykazywał doskonałe właściwości reologiczne, mechaniczne, a także bardzo dobrą stabilność termiczną. Właściwości te były o wiele lepsze niż innych, dostępnych na rynku, przeciwutleniaczy mieszanek gumowych.

The synthesis and physicochemical properties of three new complexes of vanadium at +5, +4 and +3 oxidation state are described and discussed. The octahedral surrounding of vanadium for V(III) complexes of [V(L1)(HL1)] general formula is filled with two ONO tridentate ligand L, for V(IV) one ONO ligand L, oxido ligand and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) as a co-ligand are presented in complexes of [VO(L2)(phen)]. For V(V) the complexes of [VO2(L1)(solv)] type were formed. As ligands, the H2L Schiff bases were formed in reaction between 5-hydroxysalcylaldehyde and phenylacetic hydrazide (H2L1) and 3,5- dichlorosalicyaldehyde and 4-hydroxybenzhydrazide (L2). The magnetic moment measurements, in 8 year period, show, that V(III) complexes slowly oxidise to V(IV) with preservation of the nonoxido character of the complexes, while V(IV) complexes were found to be stable. The TG and SDTA measurements indicate, that thermal stability depends mainly on the oxidation state of vanadium. The less thermally stable are the V(V) complexes, while V(IV) and V(III) are stable up to ca. 200oC. In solution, at pH 2 (similar to that in human digestion system), again the V(IV) are the most stable, only at pH 7.0 V(III) complexes had higher stability. The most stable, thus best for pharmaceutical use, are V(IV) complexes.

The possibility of separating some alkanes or alcohols mixture by gas chromatography in a packed columns with tetradentate Schiff base nickel (II) complexes has been studied. The effects of modification in the chelate structure on the column selectivity are presented comparing the appropriate heats of adsorption.

The copper(II) complex with a Schiff-base salen-type ligand has been encapsulated in the nanopores of a NaY zeolite by using two different methodologies, the flexible ligand and in situ complex preparation methods. The encapsulated and non-encapsulated copper(II) complexes were screened as catalysts for styrene oxidation by using TBHP as the oxygen source in acetonitrile solvent. Under the optimized conditions, the catalysts exhibited moderate activity with higher selectivity to benzaldehyde. Both heterogeneous catalysts were found to be reusable after the catalytic cycle, but with some loss of activity.
Osadzenie kompleksu miedzi(II) z zasadą Schiffa typu salen na zeolicie typu NaY zostało przepowadzone za pomocą dwóch metod „flexible ligand" i „in situ”. Katalityczne właściwości otrzymanego kompleksu oraz jego heterogenizowanych analogów badano w reakcji utleniania styrenu w obecności TBHP. Jako rozpuszczalnik stosowano acetonitryl. Testowane katalizatory wykazują średnią aktywność katalityczną z tendencją wytwarzania aldehy du benzoesowego. Oba heterogenizowane katalizatory mogą być wykorzystywane ponownie bez utraty aktywności katalitycznych.

Five divalent transition metals Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Mn(II) and Zn(II) complexes have been synthesized using 3-hydroxy-4-[N-(2-hydroxynaphthylidene)-amino]-naphthalene-1-sulfonic acid (H3L) Schiff base as a ligand derived from the condensation reaction between 4-amino-3-hydroxynaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthalde-hyde. The synthesized complexes were characterized using microanalytical, conductivity, FTIR, electronic, magnetic, ESR, thermal, and SEM studies. The microanalytical values revealed that the metal-to-ligand stoichiometry is 1:1 with molecular formula [M2+(NaL)(H2O)x].nH2O (where x = 3 for all metal ions except of Zn(II) equal x = 1; n = 4, 10, 7, 4, and 6 for Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Mn(II) and Zn(II), respectively). The molar conductivity result indicates that all these complexes are neutral in nature with non-electrolytic behavior. Dependently on the magnetic, electronic, and ESR spectral data, octahedral geometry is proposed for all the complexes except to zinc(II) complex is tetrahedral. Thermal assignments of the synthesized complexes indicates the coordinated and lattice water molecules are present in the complexes. SEM micrographs of the synthesized complexes have a different surface morphologies. The antimicrobial activity data show that metal complexes are more potent than the parent ligand.

Schiff bases namely, 2-bromo-4-methyl-N-(2-nitrobenzylidene)aniline; 2-bromo-4-methyl-N-(2,4,5-trimethoxybenzylidene)aniline; 2-bromo-N-(4-methoxybenzylidene)-4-methylaniline and N-((1H-indol-3-yl)methylene-2-bromo-4-methylaniline have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, Mass and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Schiff bases have been screened for Antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi by using MIC determination. Binary complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with Schiff bases in solution have been studied potentiometrically in 60:40 % (V/V) 1,4-dioxane-water system at constant temperature 27 ±0.5 ºC and at an ionic strength of 0.1 M KNO3. The order of stability constant of formed binary complexes in solution was examined.

A series of Schiff’s base compounds were synthesized from 2,6-di(propan-2-yl) aniline with substituted aromatic aldehydes. The structures of all the synthesized compounds were characterized by physical constants, IR and NMR spectroscopic techniques. All the observed IR frequencies νC=N (cm-1), NMR δ(ppm) of C-H & C=N chemical shifts have been correlated with Hammett substituent constants and F and R parameters using single and multi-linear regression analyses in order to study the effect of substituents on these spectral data has been studied. All the synthesized Schiff’s base compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity by disc diffusion method.

Opis:
Nine new vanadium complexes, with tridentate Schiff base ligand based on 3,5-di-tertbutyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and different hydrazides, are described and characterized. The X-ray crystal structure of complex 8 shows distorted octahedral geometry of vanadium, with ONO ligand in equatorial position. The tridentate Schiff base ligand forms six membered and five-membered chelate rings at the V(V) acceptor center, with the corresponding bite angles being 82.97(9)˚ and 74.48(9)˚. The molecules are gathered by means of intermolecular OH...N hydrogen bond and layered by π...π interactions involving the pyridine and phenolate rings. Such interactions expand the structure along the crystallographic a axis. The complexes were characterized by the elemental analyses, IR, UV-Vis, EPR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, thermogravimetry and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The stabilization role of co-ligands is discussed. The cytotoxicity versus HepG2 hepatocytes and inhibition of human recombinant PTP1B was studied.

A new tris-spiro-(3,4-dioxybenzaldehyde)cyclotriphosphazene [PNCHO] was synthesized from the condensation of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene with 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde in the presence of strong base. Further reaction of the trialdehydic cyclotriphosphazene based molecules [PNCHO] with three different dianilines (benzidine, 4,4’-methylenedianiline and 4,4′-Sulfonyldianiline) resulted in creation of a new poly(tris-spiro-3,4-dioxbenzene)cyclotriphosphazenes with Schiff-base groups [PNSB1-3]. The structures of [PNCHO] and the polycyclotriphosphazenes-schiff base derivatives were characterized by means of FTIR, 1H, 13C NMR and C.H.N elemental analysis. Differential scanning calorimetery (DSC) revealed a relatively high glass transition temperature (135−175°C) of obtained polymers. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) exhibited their good thermal stability (up to 375°C). The char yield was about 36–42% at 700°C. All polymers were self-extinguishable as the LOI (Limiting Oxygen Index) values were above 26% and this meets with the V-0 and V-1, classification (UL-94). No fumes, soot, or toxic gases emission were observed during burning. The polymers obtained can be used as environmentally friendly, flame-retardant materials.
Nowy tris-spiro-(3,4-dioksybenzaldehydo)cyklotrifosfazen [PNCHO] zsyntetyzowano w procesie kondensacji heksachlorocyklotrifosfazenu z 3,4-dihydroksybenzaldehydem w obecności silnej zasady. W wyniku reakcji trialdehydo cyklotrifosfazenów z trzema różnymi dianilinami (benzydyna, 4,4’-metylenodianilina i 4,4’-sulfonylodianilina) otrzymano poli(tris-spiro-3,4-dioksabenzeno)cyklotrifosfazeny z zasadami Schiffa [PNSB1-3]. PNCHO i pochodne policyklotrifosfazen-zasady Schiffa scharakteryzowano za pomocą analizy elementarnej (C, H, N), FTIR, 1H, 13C NMR. Metodą różnicowej kalorymetrii skaningowej (DSC) wykazano wysoką temperaturę zeszklenia (135−175°C) otrzymanych polimerów. Metodą analizy termograwimetrycznej (TGA) potwierdzono ich dobrą stabilność termiczną (do 375°C). Stopień zwęglenia po spaleniu wynosił w temp. 700°C ok. 36–42%. Wszystkie polimery były samogasnące, ponieważ wartości LOI (Limiting Oxygen Index) przekraczały 26%, co odpowiada klasie palności V-0 i V-1 (UL-94). Podczas spalania nie zaobserwowano emisji oparów, sadzy ani toksycznych gazów. Otrzymane polimery mogą znaleźć zastosowanie jako przyjazne dla środowiska materiały trudnopalne.

The synthesis and physicochemical properties of vanadium(III,IV,V) complexes with Schiff base ligands based on 3,5-dibromo-4-methoxy-salicylaldehyde and phenylacetic hydrazide (H2L1), 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde and 4-hydroxybenzhydrazide (H2L2) and 5- chlorosalicylaldehyde and 2-hydroxybenzhydrazide (H2L3) were presented. The formulas of the complexes {[V(L1)(HL2)]·EtOH (1), [VO(L2)(phen)]·2H2O (2) and [VO(L3)(EtO)] (3)} were proposed based on the elemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis spectra. Additionally, the IR and UV-Vis spectra (in solvents as well as in a solid state) have been discussed from the vanadium oxidation state point of view. The single crystal structure of 3 shows triclinic, P-1 space group, structure is stabilized by hydrogen bonds and strong π-π stacking interactions. The oxidation state of the metal centre was also confirmed by the magnetic susceptibility measurements. The stability of the complexes was measured in pH = 7.00 and in pH = 2.00 which allows to evaluate the use of these compounds as insulin mimetic compounds.

Opis:
The synthesis and physicochemical properties of new vanadium(IV) complex of formula [VO(L)(phen)] is described. The L denotes ONO tridentate Schiff base derived from 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde and phenylacetic hydrazide, while phen = 1,10-phenanthroline used as a co-ligand to stabilize the V(IV) oxidation state. The single crystal X-Ray crystal structure indicates on octahedral geometry of vanadium centre, with 1,10-phenanthroline nitrogen trans to the V=O bond. The complex crystalizes in a monoclinic P21/c space group, very unusual is that only one isomer is present in the crystal structure. The structure is stabilized by very weak hydrogen bonds and H··π and π···π interactions. The phenyl ring of hydrazide is strongly curved from ONO ligand plane by 70.95˚. The spectroscopic characterization (IR, UV-Vis) as well as the cyclic voltammetry measurements are presented and discussed

N,N’-bis(2,4-dimethoxybenzylidene)ethylenediamine was synthesized and used as a membrane carrier to create a novel poly(vinyl chloride) membrane potentiometric sensor that is selective especially for Fe3+ ions. The super-Nernstian slope of the projected sensor was 19.5 mV per decade over a concentration range of 7.3•10-8–1•10-1 M having detection limit at 7.3•10-8 M. The sensor displayed a linear potential response for the detection of Fe3+ ions in about 30 seconds, and it had a lifespan of no less than 9 weeks without lacking any potential divergence. The selected sensor showed high selectivity in water solutions in relation to Fe3+ ions, even in the presence of other metal cations in the pH range of 3.6–10.
Przedmiotem badań był potencjometryczny czujnik do selektywnego oznaczania jonów Fe3+ oparty na membranie wykonanej z poli(chlorku winylu) i N,N’-bis(2,4-dimetoksybenzylideno)etylenodiaminy. Nachylenie super-nernstowskie (ang. super-Nernstian slop) badanego czujnika wynosiło 9,5 mV na dekadę w zakresie stężeń 7,3•10-8–1•10-1 M z limitem detekcji 7.3•10-8 M. Czujnik wykazywał w obecności jonów Fe3+ liniową odpowiedź przez około 30 s, a jego czas życia bez rozbieżności potencjałów wynosił nie mniej niż 9 tygodni. Wybrany czujnik wykazywał w roztworach wodnych wysoką selektywność w stosunku do jonów Fe3+ nawet w obecności innych kationów metali w zakresie pH 3,6–10.

This paper presents the synthesis and antibacterial studies some novel halogenated Platinum (II) complexes of active Schiff’s base ligands of the type [Pt(L1H)2]Cl2, [Pt(L2H)2]Cl2 and[Pt(L)2] derived from 5-Bromo Isatin. Where L1H= hydrazinecarbothiamide of 5-bromoindolinedione and L2H = hydrazinecarboxamide of 5-bromoindolinedione. All complexes reported here had been characterised by 1H NMR and IR spectral studies. Molar conductance studies support the 1:2 natures of these complexes. Pt (II) complexes are diamagnetic in nature and showing square planner geometry. The IR spectral data reveals that both the Schiff’s bases (L1H and L2H) behave as bidentate ligands and are co-ordinated to Pt (II) metal through the sulfur and hydrogenic nitrogen atom.all the new synthesized compounds were screened for antibacterial activity against four of the test organisms like Bacillus pumilus, Micrococcus Lutes, E. coli and Salmonella abony

Modern computational chemistry offers a wide variety of methods allowing us to investigate very complex systems. In the current study, we would like to focus on ab initio and classical molecular dynamics to show their applications in our research. Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics (CPMD) was carried out to study compounds possessing intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Our simulations were performed in vacuum, in solvent and in crystalline phase. It is well known that intramolecular hydrogen bonding stabilizes 3D structure of molecules. The strength of the bonding and its features are influenced by inductive and steric effects. Our short overview on CPMD application to systems with intramolecular HB we start from Schiff and Mannich bases -model compounds to investigate intramolecular hydrogen bonding. Other examples reported here derive from the class of N-oxide type compounds. Special attention was devoted to another representative structure in such investigations – picolinic acid N-oxide. In some examples listed above proton transfer phenomena occurred making these compounds interesting objects for future excited state studies. Aliphatic boronic acid was used as a model example to study intermolecular hydrogen bonds based on CPMD method. Further, classical molecular dynamics was applied to investigate proteins. Here, we would like to report our results for two biomolecules. The first one is proteinase K for which the impact of mercury(II) on its catalytic center was studied. The second one is streptavidin. For the latter one its complexes with biotinylated ligands were investigated. We close our review with a paragraph describing further development and perspectives related to CPMD method.
