Background: Training of athletes for optimal performance would be enhanced in an environment of appropriate data. There is, however, limited data on anthropometric and sport performance characteristics of male soccer players in Ghanaian public universities. This study comparatively presents the distribution of anthropometric and motor performance characteristics of male soccer players among public universities. Methods: Male soccer players (n = 44, mean age = 22.61 ±1.87 yrs) from four public universities were recruited. Weight, leg length, thigh girth, calf girth, forearm length, upper arm length, upper arm girth, chest girth, and finger span were measured. The participants were also assessed on a 36.58 m (40 yards) dash, vertical jump, agility, flexibility, sit-ups, push-ups, dribbling, shooting accuracy, and kicking distance. Results: There were significant differences in the forearm length (p = 0.001), leg power (p = 0.040), abdominal strength (p = 0.005), agility (p = 0.001), flexibility (p = 0.009), and upper body strength (p = 0.023) among the male soccer players of the universities. All anthropometric characteristics significantly predicted kicking distance (p = 0.002). Thigh girth (p = 0.014), chest girth (p = 0.010) and finger span (p = 0.012) significantly distinctly served as predictors. Conclusion: Anthropometric and motor performance characteristics were relatively different among male soccer players in Ghana public universities. University soccer coaches should place major emphasis on individual traits and potentials when developing combined training regimes.

The authors of the contribution deal with evaluation of general motor performance in older school age pupils with a moderate mental disability. The aim of the research was to find out differences in the general motor performance between mentally disabled pupils and non-disabled pupils. The research sample consisted of 100 pupils aged 13 to 15. They included 25 boys and 25 girls with a moderate mental disability and 25 boys and 25 girls without a mental disability. To evaluate the general motor performance, the European test of motor performance Eurofit Special was used, modified for the needs of mentally disabled persons by Jean-Claude de Potter (1996). The research confirmed that the general motor performance of the youth with a moderate mental disability was statistically significantly lower than that of their non-disabled peers.

The issue of talent selection and identification has been addressed by a variety of authors. However, few studies focus on sports recommended to be practiced by children on the basis of evaluating their performance or sports profiles. Material and Methods: The purpose of the study was to determine individual sports profiles of child athletes and nonathletes and recommend sports to be practiced. The participants were children aged 6 and 7 years who were first graders at elementary schools. Child athletes were children who participated in organized sports practice in soccer (n = 16), ice hockey (n = 29), and artistic gymnastics (n = 10). Child nonathletes (n = 26) did not participate in any organized sports practice within extracurricular activities or in sports clubs. Children performed a battery of 9 tests: sit-and-reach test, flexed arm hang (overhand grip), repeated routine with a stick, sit-ups, standing long jump, 4 x 10-meter shuttle run, rolling of three balls, 20-meter sprint and endurance shuttle run. To assess decision-making processes, children played a chasing game called "pull-the-flag" game. Results: As for the match between the sports practiced and the sports recommended to be practiced by child athletes, 20 children practiced the sports that were also recommended to be practiced on the basis of their individual sports profiles. According to their sports profiles, child nonathletes were recommended to do, in particular, rhythmic gymnastics, cycling, volleyball, tennis, and floorball. Conclusions: We may conclude that low number of children practice sports that match children's motor dispositions. Therefore, individual sports profiles need to be devised to provide children with recommendations concerning sports that match their talent.

The aim of our work is to find out level of somatic development and motor performance of students of the 1.st year - class of FCHPT STU in Bratislava in five years period in years 2011 – 2015 (1881 women and 797 men). We used standardized test battery to recognize motor performance. Comparison of the motion efficiency testing results we used the test of statistical significance of differences in mean values of the significance level p - value<0,05, in program Statgraphic (One Way – ANOVA). Based on the results of measuring the level of somatic development , we found out that the body height has stagnating tendency for both men and women categories. Body weight had a stable level in men until 2014 , but its value is about 5 kg higher than the population average . The women had body weight except in 2014 rising trend. Both in men and women category in 2015 significantly increased body weight . Observing body mass in dex ( BMI ) we found out a significant increase in values only for women. The relative value of the body fat in both men and women category at approximately the same level without significant difference index BMI more than men but the value of body fat on th e other hand they were worse . In the test results of motor performance , we found out significantly lower levels of aerobic endurance compared to the first measurement in 2011 , both men and women. In the case of speed - power capabilities of the arms and tors o as well as for the dynamic force abdominal and hip muscles we can ́t confirm increasing or decreasing tendency. From our research it is clear that aerobic endurance is the ability which has decreasing trend from year to year for both men and women category.

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the relationships between socioeconomic factors (SES), anthropometric characteristics and motor abilities of female university students. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in 2000-2018 on 3955 female university students aged 19.72 ± 0.75 years who were randomly selected from the population of students attending obligatory physical education (PE) classes. The participants' body mass and height were measured, and the students participated in 13 motor ability tests that assessed their speed/agility, flexibility, strength, endurancestrength, and endurance abilities. Multiple independent samples were compared using the KruskalWallis test or the mean-ranks post-hoc test when significant differences were observed in the participants' motor abilities. Results: Statistically significant differences in the participants' body mass, body height, BMI and motor abilities (speed/agility, flexibility - partly, strength, and strengthendurance) were associated with differences in the students' SES. Greater mean differences in SES were associated with differences in the anthropometric and motor characteristics of students. Environmental factors such as the place of permanent residence, monthly budgets, mother's and father's educational background were least likely to be associated with female students' endurance abilities. Conclusions: Female students who had higher monthly budgets, resided in large cities, and had better educated parents were generally taller and had a higher level of motor abilities. An inverse relationship was noted between motor abilities vs. body mass and BMI.

The paper presents a comparison between silent pole and cylindrical construction of medium power LSPMSM. On the basis of computational results investigations of higher harmonics of flux density, back emf and armature current in a Line-Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor have been conducted. They show that salient pole construction is characterized by much lower amplitudes of magnetic field zonal harmonics. It contributes to minimization of additional losses in magnetic core and squirrel cage. Full load characteristics for both constructions have been obtained. Calculated curves of: current, power factor and efficiency versus output power are shown.

Opis:
The paper deals with the influence of magnet air gap on parameters of Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. To examine this phenomena time stepping finite element model was built. Three models with different magnet's air duct are considerated. There are shown calculation results such as flux density distribution and back EMF waveform at no load. It is noticed that magnet air duct causes back EMF decrease up to 13%. Moreover it also leads to lower power factor and higher no load line current.

Animals have accompanied man for thousands of years and their role in human life has seriously evolved. Man had power over domesticated animals and decided about their fate, they were used as a means of transport and helped humans with the farming. There is a group of animals, known as companion animals, which are ranked high in human life. Nowadays, animals are more frequently utilized in different animal-assisted therapies. Hippotherapy as a therapeutic intervention exerts serious influence on those participating in its sessions, and it affects all interpenetrating spheres of human life. Therapeutic effects of horse-riding were already known in 400 B.C. Hippocrates claimed that horse-riding exerted positive effect on treating certain health conditions. Equine therapists, over the years, have noticed significant benefits to their clients resulting not only from the nature of a horse but also from its unique ambulation. One can say that a horse during a therapeutic session becomes a precise stimulator of movement. Thanks to a similar way of ambulation in man and in a horse, during a horse riding session the rider’s pelvis, trunk and the shoulder girdle are made to move according to the physiological pattern of human ambulation, so a person with motor disorders has a chance to learn proper human gait pattern without walking.
Zwierzęta towarzyszą nieprzerwanie ludziom od tysięcy lat. Rola zwierząt w życiu człowieka na przestrzeni czasu uległa zasadniczej zmianie. Człowiek posiadał władzę nad udomowionym zwierzęciem oraz decydował o ich losie. Zwierzęta zostały także wykorzystywane jako środek transportu oraz jako pomoc przy uprawie roli. Istnieje grupa zwierząt, którą określa się mianem zwierząt „towarzyszących”. Grupa ta zajmuje w życiu człowieka uprzywilejowane miejsce. Obecnie coraz prężniej rozwija się dziedzina, w której zwierzęta wykorzystywane są podczas terapii człowieka. Hipoterapia jako postępowanie terapeutyczne charakteryzuje się oddziaływaniem wszechstronnym na pacjenta. Posiada zdolność wywierania wpływu na wszystkie wzajemnie przenikające się sfery życia człowieka. Lecznicze oddziaływania jazdy konnej poznano już w IV wieku p.n.e. Hipokrates pisał o tym, że jazda konna ma pozytywny wpływ na leczenie wybranych schorzeń. Na przestrzeni lat terapeuci dostrzegli ogromne walory wynikające nie tylko z natury konia, ale i specyfiki jego ruchu. Śmiało można powiedzieć, że koń w trakcie trwania terapii staje się precyzyjnym stymulatorem ruchu. Dzięki zbliżonemu sposobowi poruszania się człowieka i konia, w trakcie trwania jazdy zarówno miednica, tułów i obręcz barkowa jeżdżącego wprawiane są w ruch zgodnie do fizjologicznego wzorca chodu ludzkiego. Tak więc osoba z dysfunkcją ruchową ma możliwość nauki prawidłowego wzorca chodu bez chodzenia.

The aim of the paper was to determine the level of motor development and changes in motor performance in children from rural areas from Częstochowa region (Silesia Province) examined in the years 1999 and 2012. The research included boys and girls aged 7-9 from primary schools in Wręczyca Wielka Commune in Kłobuck County (Silesia Province). The first study was conducted in November in the school year 1999/2000 and embraced 270 students (135 girls and 135 boys); the same number of students – 270 students (135 girls and 135 boys) – was examined in the school year 2012/2013. The evaluation of motor performance was done on the basis of Zuchora Physical Fitness Index following the instructions included in the manual. The results were subjected to statistical analysis and arithmetic means and measures of spread were calculated. In order to determine the directions and scope of changes in motor performance the 2012 study results were normalized to the results obtained in 1999. The assessment of the significance of differences was made with the help of t Student test. In the years 1999-2012 unambiguous significant changes in the level of motor performance in particular age groups were not observed in girls and boys aged 7-9 from rural areas. The observed changes in motor structure refer to the progress of results in agility tests and abdominal muscle strength tests as well as regression in speed in the case of girls. Other results were at similar level. In the case of boys, the authors reported a decrease in the level of results obtained in speed tests and tests of muscle strength of the arms. Whereas similar results were obtained in strength tests, abdominal muscle strength tests and jumping ability tests. The improvement in flexibility skills was also observed.
Celem niniejszego opracowania było określenie poziomu rozwoju motorycznego i zmian występujących w sprawności motorycznej dzieci ze środowiska wiejskiego z regionu częstochowskiego (woj. śląskie) badanych w latach 1999 i 2012 . W badaniach uczestniczyli dziewczęta i chłopcy w wieku 7 - 9 lat ze szkół podstawowych w gminie Wręczyca Wielka w powiecie kłobuckim (woj. śląskie). Pierwsze badanie zostało przeprowadzone w listopadzie w roku szkolnym 1999/2000 i objęto nim 270 uczniów (135 dziewcząt i 135 chłopców), podobnie kształtuje się liczba badanych w roku szkolnym 2012/2013 - 270 uczniów (135 dziewcząt i 135 chłopców). Sprawność motoryczną badanych oceniono w oparciu o próby Indeksu Sprawności Fizycznej Zuchory stosując się do zaleceń zawartych w instrukcji. Wyniki badań poddano analizie statystycznej wyliczając średnie arytmetyczne i miary rozsiewu. W celu określenia kierunków i rozmiarów przemian w sprawności motorycznej wyniki badań z roku 2012 unormowano na rezultaty uzyskane w 1999 roku. Oceny istotności różnic dokonano przy pomocy testu t- Studenta. W latach 1999-2012 u dziewcząt i chłopców w wieku 7-9 lat pochodzących ze środowiska wiejskiego nie odnotowano jednoznacznych istotnych zmian w poziomie sprawności motorycznej w poszczególnych grupach wieku. Zaobserwowane zmiany struktury motoryczności w przypadku dziewcząt dotyczą progresu rezultatów w próbach gibkości i siły mięśni brzucha oraz regresu w szybkości. Pozostałe wyniki były na zbliżonym poziomie. W przypadku chłopców, odnotowano obniżenie się poziomu wyników uzyskanych w próbach : szybkości i siły mięśni ramion, zbliżone wyniki uzyskano natomiast w próbach wytrzymałości, siły mięśni brzucha, skoczności. Odnotowano również poprawę zdolności gibkościowych.

On separate days, 6 highly trained participants performed psychomotor tests while breathing for 60 min 3 carbon dioxide (CO2) mixtures (room air, 3% CO2, or 4% CO2) prior to, between, and following two 15- min treadmill exercise bouts (70% VO2max). Each individual was extensively practiced (at least 4 days) before testing began, and both gas conditions and order of tasks were counterbalanced. Results showed physiological reactions and work-related psychomotor effects, but no effects of gas concentration on addition, multiplication, grammatical reasoning, or dynamic postural balance. These findings help define behavioral toxicity levels and support a re-evaluation of existing standards for the maximum allowable concentrations (also emergency and continuous exposure guidance levels) of CO2. This research explored the selection of psychometric instruments of sufficient sensitivity and reliability to detect subtle changes in performance caused by exposure to low levels of environmental stress, in this case differential levels of CO2 in the inspired air.

In the article, the research results of switched reluctance motor drive performance comparison were presented. The idea of improving the energy performance of the SRM drive through the introduction of modern construction materials of magnetic circuit made from powdered iron in relation to the classic design of isolated, rolled metal sheets was defined. Purposes and motivation of research based on general descriptions of comparable properties of magnetic materials were introduced. The structure of a novel motor drive with developments in the implementation of control algorithms imply the possibility of a fair comparison, which is the subject of the publication. The actual state of research, its methodology and the results of studies were described with an emphasis on aspects of energy consumption in static and dynamic states of drive work. In conclusion, an attempt to determine the validity of the main idea was made and area of further research was outlined.

This paper presents a comparison of an AC radial flux interior permanent magnet (IPM) motor with the distributed winding (DW) and concentrated winding (CW). From time to time, manufacturers of electric vehicles change the design of electric motors, such changes may include changing the DW into CW and vice versa. A change to the winding in a radial permanent magnet synchronous motor may lead to a change in motor parameters during motor operation and /or change in the distribution of the magnetic field and thermal circuit of the electrical machine. The electromagnetic analysis, efficiency map, mechanical stress, and thermal analysis of the machine with the DW and CW are presented in this paper. This article describes the advantages and disadvantages of selected stator winding designs and helps understand manufacturers’ designers how the DW and CW play a key role in achieving the designed motor’s operational parameters such as continuous performance. Analyzing the performance of both machines will help identify their advantages and disadvantages with regard to thermal phenomena, magnetic field and operational parameters of the presented IPM prototypes. Both prototypes are based on commonly used topologies such as 12/8 (slot/pole) and 30/8 (slot/pole) IPM motors consisting of magnets arranged in a V-shape. The AC IPM motor was designed for an 80 kW propulsion system to achieve 170 N·m at a base speed of 4 500 rpm. Modern CAD tools are utilized throughout the numerical computations based on 2-D finite element methods. Selected test data are used to verify and validate the accuracy of finite element models.

At present, in open-pit mining, the main and most important electrical load is the electric excavator, and currently using a variety of EKG excavators. 6kV electrical network in open pit mining has the characteristics such as long outgoing lines, use high-powered equipment, multiple branches, and increasing use of power electronics on the grid, this reduces the quality of the power supplied to the excavators EKG, resulting in an increase in power losses thereby greatly affecting the performance of the excavators. Previous studies on the quality of the power supplied to the excavator often only mentioned voltage deviations, in addition to this factor, the performance of the excavator is also greatly affected by nonsinusoidal voltage waveforms of the excavator power supply. This paper analyzes the influence of the nonsinusoidal of voltage on the power loss of electric motors used in EKG electric excavators in open pit mining based on the method of electromagnetic analysis and verification on simulation software.
Obecnie, EKG są powszechne koparki stosowane w kopalnictwie odkrywkowym Wietnamu. Sieć elektryczna 6kV w kopalniach odkrywkowych ma takie cechy, jak długie linie wychodzące, zastosowanie sprzętu o dużej mocy, wiele odgałęzień co obniża jakość energii dostarczanej do koparek EKG, skutkując wzrost strat mocy, co znacząco wpływa na wydajność koparek. Dotychczasowe badania jakości energii dostarczanej do koparki często wskazywały tylko na odchylenia napięcia. W artykule, przeanalizowano wpływ napięcia niesinusoidalnego na straty mocy silników elektrycznych stosowanych w koparkach elektrycznych EKG w górnictwie odkrywkowym w oparciu o metodę analizy elektromagnetycznej i weryfikacji w oprogramowaniu symulacyjnym.

This paper proposes two high-order sliding mode algorithms to achieve highperformance control of induction motor drive. In the first approach, the super-twisting algorithm (STA) is used to reduce the chattering effect and to improve control accuracy. The second approach combines the super-twisting algorithm with a quasi-barrier function technique. While the super-twisting algorithm (STA) aims at the chattering reduction, the Barrier super-twisting algorithm (BSTA) aims to eliminate this phenomenon by providing continuous output control signals. The BSTA is designed to prevent the STA gain from being over-estimated by making these gains to decrease and increase according to system’s uncertainties. Stability and finite-time convergence are guaranteed using Lyapunov’s theory. In addition, the two controlled variables, rotor speed, and rotor flux modulus are estimated based on the second-order sliding mode (SOSM) observer. Finally, simulations are carried out to compare the performance and robustness of two control algorithms without adding the equivalent control. Tests are achieved under external load torque, varying reference speed, and parameter variations.

Sensitive equipment and non-linear loads are now more common in both the industrial/commercial sectors and the domestic environment. Because of this a heightened awareness of power quality is developing amongst electricity users. Therefore, power quality is an issue that is becoming increasingly important to electricity consumers at all levels of usage. This article presents the fuzzy system to determine the power quality. The performance of three-phase induction motor is observed for different power quality conditions in laboratory. The power quality is in terms of voltage is intentionally disturbed by means of three-phase motor alternator set and chopper circuit. It is observed that the fuzzy system is able to make correct diagnosis of power quality. It is also observed that as the power quality become poor, the motor efficiency decreases, causing significant rise in power input to meet the rated load demand, and thereby rise in electric bill.

Artykuł prezentuje wpływ zmiany stopnia wzbudzenia napędowego silnika szeregowego prądu stałego na uzyskiwane przez lokomotywę kopalnianą i skład pociągu parametry trakcyjne. Zmiana stopnia wzbudzenia silnika szeregowego prądu stałego powoduje zmianę ukształtowania momentu napędowego silnika względem uzyskiwanej prędkości obrotowej i prądu silnika. Ma to decydujący wpływ na uzyskiwaną wartość przyśpieszenia oraz prędkość maksymalną lokomotywy i całego składu pociągu. Zmiany charakterystyki prędkości obrotowej i momentu silnika trakcyjnego na skutek zmian stopnia wzbudzenia pozwalają na dobór parametrów trakcyjnych lokomotywy i składu pociągu. Przedstawiona w artykule analiza wyników symulacji komputerowych pozwala na wyciągnięcie wniosków dotyczących optymalnego doboru stopnia wzbudzenia silnika szeregowego prądu stałego w zależności od oczekiwanych parametrów trakcyjnych stawianych lokomotywie i składowi pociągu w trudnych warunkach kopalnianych.
The article presents the impact of the change of drive excitation of DC series motor upon traction parameters obtained by a coal mine locomotive and train. The change in level of DC series motor excitation causes a change in the way thrust torque is shaped against engine rotational speed and current of the engine. It is of crucial importance upon received acceleration value and maximum speed of the locomotive and the entire train. Changes in engine speed and the torque of traction motor characteristics resulting from the changes in the level of excitation allow the choice traction parameters of locomotive and train. The analysis of computer simulation results presented in the article allows drawing conclusions regarding optimal choice of the level of DC series motor excitation depending on expected traction parameters of the locomotive and train in difficult coal mine environment.

In order to compare the performance difference of the permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) with different rotor structure, two kinds of rotor magnetic circuit structure with surface-mounted radial excitation and tangential excitation are designed respectively. By comparing and analyzing the results, the difference of the motor performance was determined. Firstly, based on the finite element method (FEM), the motor electromagnetic field performance was studied, and the magnetic field distribution of the different magnetic circuit structure was obtained. The influence mechanism of the different magnetic circuit structure on the air gap flux density was obtained by using the Fourier theory. Secondly, the cogging torque, output torque and overload capacity of the PMSM with different rotor structure were studied. The effect mechanism of the different rotor structure on the motor output property difference was obtained. The motor prototype with two kinds of rotor structure was manufactured, and the experimental study was carried out. By comparing the experimental data and simulation data, the correctness of the research is verified. This paper lays a foundation for the research on the performance of the PMSM with different magnetic circuit structure.

The paper deals with computer simulations of dynamic performance of vector controlled synchronous reluctance motor with axially laminated anisotropic rotor, operating upon two constant current angle control strategies: maximum torque per given stator current and maximum torque per given flux linkage. The simulation model in Matlab-Simulink environment was derived, based on mathematical model of the motor in d-q rotor coordinates. The simulations results clearly show, that maximum torque versus flux linkage control strategy offers better dynamic response of the motor while maximum torque versus current control minimizes power losses and appears the best solution when low dynamic performance is allowed.

The paper deals with computer simulations of dynamic performance of two pole synchronous reluctance motor with axially laminated, anisotropic rotor. Geometry of the rotor was modified so as to create a kind of damping cage made of aluminium layers, expected to enhance stability of the motor during transients. A simplified model including damping circuits was derived and implemented in Matlab/Simulink environment. A series of simulation were performed for different start up parameters (initial voltage, initial frequency, start-up duration), shaft torque step and moment of inertia. The simulation results show a noticeable improving of stability of the motor with modified rotor structure. Especially, even at fast start up and considerably big step of shaft torque, there are very little speed oscillations and the motor is inherently stable.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę układu napędowego z silnikiem indukcyjnym pracującym w strukturze sterowania polowo zorientowanego DFOC podczas uszkodzeń wybranych czujników pomiarowych. Zwrócono szczególną uwagę na wpływ uszkodzeń na przebiegi wybranych zmiennych stanu napędu indukcyjnego oraz na możliwość ich wykorzystania do diagnostyki napędu elektrycznego. Badania symulacyjne wykonano w środowisku Matlab/SimPowerSystem. Zaproponowane rozwiązanie może być z powodzeniem wykorzystane w systemach o zwiększonym stopniu bezpieczeństwa.
In the paper the influence of the chosen sensors faults (rotor speed and stator current sensors) to the properties of induction motor drive system working in the Direct Field Oriented Control structure (DFOC) were tested. Study results of simulations carried out in Matlab/SimPowerSystem software in various states of motor drive are presented. Study results contains an analysis of the state variables such as: mechanical and estimated speed, electromagnetic torque, stator's phase currents and rotor flux. Additionally the usage of these signals to develop faults detection algorithms were tested.

The paper presents an approach to simulation analysis of synchronous reluctance motor transients by means of indirect field-circuit method. Dynamic performance of two pole synchronous reluctance motor with axially laminated, anisotropic rotor with modified magnetic circuit was investigated. Asymmetrical equivalent rotor damping cage and skin effects in aluminum layers were taking into account. An indirect field-circuit model including frequency dependent parameters of damping circuit was derived and implemented in Matlab/Simulink environment. A series of simulation were performed for different start up parameters (initial voltage, initial frequency, start-up duration), shaft torque step and moment of inertia. The simulation results confirmed good dynamic performance of the motor with modified rotor structure and the reliability of proposed simulation method, although some improvements are still necessary.

Introduction. The preparation of Polish Air Force cadets for survival in isolation is a necessary element of their training, to demonstrate just how difficult can be the conditions they could encounter in a combat situation. Objective. The aim of the research was to assess the effect of long-term survival training on selected coordination motor skills in Air Force cadets. Materials and method. Fifteen air force cadets aged 19.6±0.3 years exercised for 36 hours during survival training without the possibility to sleep. They were examined 4 times: Day 1 – before effort (training), Day 2 – after 24 hours training, Day 3 – directly after 36 hours training, Day 4 – next day, after an all night rest. They were examined for shooting and reaction time, the ability to maintain body balance, running motor adjustment, handgrip force differentiation, and on Days 1 and 3, exercise capacity was evaluated with a 1 mile walking test. Results. The survival training resulted in significant decreases in maximum handgrip strength, corrected 50% max handgrip, maintenance of body balance and heart rate. No changes occurred in reaction time, running motor adjustment and shooting performance. Overnight rest did not result in recovery of any of the examined factors to the values observed on Day 1. Conclusion. Survival training combined with sleep deprivation mostly affected peripheral factors depending on strong action from both muscles and nervous system, whereas complex tasks involving short-term central alertness and moderate exertion were maintained. In order to improve performance, more endurance strength training, if possible combined with sleep deprivation, should be introduced in military training.

The paper presents simulation results for a two-module reluctance motor (Transverse Flux Motor) with an outer rotor. The two-module TFM construction is compared with a classical, three-module one. A specific shape of teeth is used to obtain a non-zero start torque. Calculations of the magnetic field and electromagnetic torque are performed using the Flux3D package based on the finite element method. In particular, the paper analyses the influence of the new motor magnetic circuit construction on the torque produced by the motor and its pulsations. The calculations enable to determine electromechanical parameters for a specific motor under design without making its costly prototype. A number of computer simulations are carried out and the results are compared with the three-module prototype version of the motor.

The pole phase modulation (PPM) technique is an effective method to extend speed range and torque capabilities for an integrated starter and hybrid electric vehicles applications. In this paper, the five pole-phase combination types of a multiphase induction motor (IM) with 36 stator slots and 36 stator conductors are presented and compared quantitatively by using the time-stepping finite element method (TS-FEM). The 36 stator conductors of the proposed multiphase IM are fed by a 36 leg inverter and the current phase angle and amplitude of each stator conductor can be controlled independently. This paper focuses on the winding connection, the PPM technique and the performance comparative analysis of each pole-phase combination types of the proposed multiphase IM. The flux distribution, air-gap flux density, output torque, core losses and efficiency of five pole-phase combination types have been investigated.

W referacie zdefiniowano urządzenie zwane ogranicznikiem prędkości znajdujące się w pojeździe oraz przedstawiono aktualne wymagania dotyczące instalowania ogranicznika prędkości w pojazdach samochodowych zgodnie z Dyrektywą 92/6 EWG i Dyrektywą 2002/85 WE. Wymagania podano dla pojazdów samochodowych wyposażonych w urządzenia ograniczające prędkość należące do kategorii M2, M3 i N2. Opisano ogólną zasadę działania ogranicznika prędkości w pojeździe. Przedstawiono ogólne warunki wykonania badań ogranicznika prędkości w pojeździe z wykorzystaniem przyspieszenia pojazdu zgodnie z wymaganiami zawartymi w Regulaminie 89 EKG ONZ, których celem jest ocena skuteczności działania ogranicznika prędkości na podstawie wyznaczonej krzywej prędkości chwilowej pojazdu w funkcji czasu. Podano również warunki badań ogranicznika prędkości zainstalowanego w samochodzie ciężarowym marki RENAULT typu 24 FP kategorii N3 za pomocą urządzenia firmy CORRSYS-DATRON, które zostały przeprowadzone w Instytucie Transportu Samochodowego w Zakładzie Homologacji i Badań Pojazdów. Wykresami zilustrowano zależności prędkości jazdy od czasu uzyskane podczas wykonanych badań. Pracę zakończono analizą wyników badań.
The paper describes a device, called a speed limiter, located in the vehicle and presents the current requirements for installing the speed limiter in motor vehicles in accordance with Directive 92/6 EEC and Directive 2002/85 EC. The requirements are for vehicles equipped with speed limitation devices and belonging to category M2, M3 and N2. General principle of the vehicle speed limiter operation has been described. General conditions for conducting tests of the speed limiter in vehicle using the acceleration of the vehicle in accordance with the requirements of UN-ECE Regulations 89, whose purpose is to evaluate the effectiveness of the speed limiter based on designated vehicle momentary velocity curve as a function of time, have been presented . It also quotes conditions of tests of the speed limiter installed in the RENAULT type 24 FP truck of N3 category using the device's CORRSYS-DATRON, that have been conducted at the Motor Transport Institute‘s Vehicles Type-Approval & Testing Department. The diagrams illustrate relationship between speed and time, obtained during tests. The work has been summed up with the analysis of the tests results.

It is well known that modern control of induction motor relies on a good dynamic model of the motor. Extensive research and activity have been devoted to the problem of induction motor control over the last decade. In this paper we introduce backstepping control with amelioration of performance to guarantee stability of the system. Accurate knowledge of the rotor speed and flux position is the key factor in obtaining a high-performance and high-efficiency induction-motor drive. Thus a sliding mode observer design is presented. Simulation results are included to illustrate good performance of backstepping control of sensorless induction motors with flux observer.

The aim of the present study was the analysis of match activities of full-backs from selected European national soccer leagues. The study sample comprised 30 full-backs playing in the autumn round of the 2014/15 season from five European national top-tier leagues: English Premier League, Spanish Primera Division, German Bundesliga, Russian Priemjer Liga and Italian Serie A. The performance of full-backs (left-back and right-back) from each selected team was analyzed using a professional match analysis system OptaPro which tracks every possible type of ball touch and on the ball action in match covered by a rigid set of definitions. The data for analysis included the total number of passes, total number of crosses, and total number of ball touches performed by the fullbacks in three zones of the pitch: attack, midfield and defense. The study results showed that the full-backs from the Spanish Primera Division executed the highest number of passes and crosses as well as ball touches in the attack zone. They also performed the lowest number of passes in the midfield and defense zones, in which the highest percentage of passes was achieved by the full-backs from the German league teams. The study indicates that in modern soccer defenders must possess a high level of offensive skills that can be necessary in the last stage of a team’s attack.

Processes of the combustion in combustion engines depend on cylinder bore and compression ratio. Compression ratio is a ratio of in-cylinder volume when piston is in bottom dead centre to volume when piston is in top dead centre. Theoretical engine efficiency is increasing together with compression ratio. However, in the real engine there are also other phenomena affecting the efficiency of the engine, which could results in lower performance of engine with higher compression ratio. This study presents knock intensity and performance gain in engine speed function of the 0D-1D engine model with different pistons set. Knock intensity is founded by implementing in combustion process knock sub-model based on Douaud and Eyzat induction time correlation using different pistons geometry. Examined engine model is air restricted Formula Student motorcycle engine. Mounted in intake system, air restrictor decreases knock intensity. Therefore, compression ratio could be increased. It was noticed that bigger bore diameter could reduce knock intensity. Researches realized that bigger bore size could cause performance drop at high rpm when flow is chocked. With changing of compression ratio, performance characteristic changes. Growing compression ratio decrease torque on low engine speed and increase on high engine speed. Further characteristic of the engine could be tuned by matching pistons with modified bore size and compression ratio.

In the paper the influence of the chosen sensors faults (rotor speed and stator current sensors) to the properties of induction motor drive system working in the Direct Field Oriented Control structure (DFOC) were tested. Simulations results carried out in Matlab/SimPowerSystem software. Study results contains an analysis of the state variables such as: mechanical and estimated speed, electromagnetic torque, stator's phase currents and rotor flux. Additionally the usage of these signals to develop faults detection algorithms were tested.

This paper contributes to the enhancing of a comparative study on the creative implementation of teaching methods in physical education sessions. We aim to determine the evolution of teacher representations related to the understanding of the particular practice of pole vaulting and its teaching by integrating a computer-video element into an educational environment. This study was carried out in two graduate classes of high school including (N = 44) students. These are two groups aged between 15 and 18 (One group of students was provided with verbal and gestural communication, while the other was asked to view a video). The pole vault learning cycle consisted of 14 sessions, divided between two sessions per week. The findings were consistent with the difference between methods of teaching in line with the respective tasks. Through this experiment and feedback from the lessons, we have been able to conclude that the use of Computer Communication Technology and specifically of the element of video footage, contributed to progress in motor learning for the large majority of students from the all group study. This research is open to the understanding and appreciation of how to best design video lectures that encourage learning and the development of knowledge.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań bezczujnikowego napędu indukcyjnego z prądowym estymatorem prędkości i strumienia wirnika. Napęd bezczujnikowy został wyposażony w dodatkowy estymator reaktancji magnesującej, wykorzystujący matematyczną interpolację charakterystyki magnesowania silnika. Przeanalizowano właściwości dynamiczne takiego układu napędowego ze sterowaniem wektorowym w szerokim zakresie zmian prędkości zadanej. Przedstawiono wyniki badań symulacyjnych i eksperymentalnych.

This paper discusses a model reference adaptive sliding-mode control of the sensorless vector controlled induction motor drive in a wide speed range. The adaptive speed controller uses on-line trained fuzzy neural network, which enables very fast tracking of the changing speed reference signal. This adaptive sliding-mode neuro-fuzzy controller (ASNFC) is used as a speed controller in the direct rotor-field oriented control (DRFOC) of the induction motor (IM) drive structure. Connective weights of the controller are trained on-line according to the error between the actual speed of the drive and the reference model output signal. The rotor flux and speed of the vector controlled induction motor are estimated using the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) – type estimator. Presented simulation results are verified by experimental tests performed on the laboratory-rig with DSP controller.

The paper is a presentation of an analysis concerning performance of a 12/8 dual-channel switched reluctance motor (DCSRM). Formulas constituting a base for a non-linear mathematical model of DCSRM are presented. Simulation and laboratory tests were carried out for the motor operating in the dual-channel and single-channel mode. The results of the field theory-based calculations are presented in the form of fluxes in individual phases expressed as functions of currents and a rotor position angle. The results of the computer simulations are shown as the static characteristics of fluxes and the torque as well as voltage, current, and torque waveforms. The results of the laboratory tests are also presented.

The aim of this research is to determine the impact of specific motor knowledge of alpine skiing on success in giant slalom race of students. On a sample of 18 students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport there has been used set of four variables of specific motor knowledge of alpine skiing, as predictor variables, to determine the impact on the criterion variable modified giant slalom race. It was found that the variables dynamic long radius turns and skiing with the changes of rhythm and tempo together have a greatest predictor validity, at statistically significant level of p = 0.01, and that they are critical for success in modified giant slalom race of students. It can be concluded that the impact on the result in the modified giant slalom race for students have the level of mastering of advanced elements of ski technique, which at this level of knowledge is crucial in giant slalom competition. The results of this study may be of importance in creating programs for different levels of mastering of skiing techniques in both advanced ski school and some stages of competitive skiing, which is of great importance for the result in giant slalom and skiing in general.

In the paper a power parameters of a line start permanent magnet synchronous motor (LSPMSM) and squirrel-cage motor have been compared. The stator of 3kW induction motor, Sg 100L-4B, was used In both structures. In order to determine opportunities to increase engine performance parameters of LSPMSM the heating curves of both motors were compared. It was found that even after the load LSPMSM increase of 20% over the induction motor rated torque, does not exceed the allowable operating temperature magnets. Efficiency, power factor and current in the stator windings obtained during measurements for both structures have been presented. Particular attention was paid to the possibility to obtain much greater output power for LSPMSM than for induction motor of the same size.
W artykule porównano parametry energetyczne dwóch silników: synchronicznego magnetoelektrycznego o rozruchu bezpośrednim (LSPMSM) oraz indukcyjnego klatkowego. W obu konstrukcjach wykorzystano stojan silnika indukcyjnego typu Sg 100L-4B o mocy 3 kW. W celu określenia możliwości polepszenia parametrów użytkowych silnika o magnesach trwałych porównano krzywe nagrzewania obu silników. Stwierdzono, że nawet wzrost momentu obciążenia LSPMSM o 20% ponad moment znamionowy silnika indukcyjnego, nie powoduje przekroczenia dopuszczalnej temperatury pracy magnesów. Dla obu konstrukcji zestawiono wyznaczone na podstawie pomiarów wartości: sprawności, współczynnika mocy i prądów silnika. Zbadano możliwość uzyskania znacznie większej mocy użytecznej silnika magnetoelektrycznego w stosunku do silnika indukcyjnego mającego te same gabaryty.

Effects of human laterality, type of computer and noise on computer operators’ performance of a data entry task were investigated. Seven right- and 7 left-motorsided male subjects performed the task on desktop and laptop computers in a sitting posture under varying noise levels. The mean number of characters entered per minute was statistically analysed. The right-motorsided operators entered more data than left-motorsided ones at each noise level. Operators performed better on desktop computers. Operators’ performance decreased when noise level increased from 82 to 92 dB(A) but it improved at 102 dB(A). Effects of laterality, type of computer and noise, and the interaction between laterality and noise were statistically significant. The interactions between laterality and type of computer, and type of computer and noise were statistically insignificant. Laterality was statistically significant at all noise levels and noise was statistically significant for right motor-sided operators only.

In the article a new type of the C-dump converter type was presented, it was intended to supply switched reluctance drives, which is a modification of the configuration introduced in [1]. A structure and a principle of its working were discussed. In this construction independent supplying sections for each motor phase were used. Differences in construction and working both of the configurations and their influence on efficiency of the drive were discussed. Model results of simulation calculations of electromagnetic torque and phase current waveforms were presented. Applying the new system caused the increase in the efficiency of the drive.

Opis:
Fault diagnosis and condition monitoring of synchronous machines running under load is a key determinant of their lifespan and performance. Faults such as broken rotor bars, bent shafts and bearing issues lead to eccentricity faults. These faults if not monitored may lead to repair, replacement and unforeseen loss of income. Researchers who attempted to investigate this kind of machine stopped at characterizing and deduced ways, types and effects of rotor eccentricity fault on the machine inductances using the winding function method. A modified closed-form analytical model of an eccentric synchronus reluctance motor (SynRM) is developed here taking into cognizance the machine dimensions and winding distribution for the cases of a healthy and unhealthy SynRM. This paper reports the study the SynRM under static rotor eccentricity using the developed analytical model and firming up the model with finite element method (FEM) solutions. These methods are beneficial as they investigated and presented the influence of the degrees of static eccentricity on the machine performance indicators such as speed, torque and the stator current and assess the extent to which the machine performance will deteriorate when running with and without load. The results show that static eccentricity significantly affects the machine’s performance as the degree of eccentricity increases.

W pracy przedstawiono dwuetapową procedurę identyfikacji modelu matematycznego silnika indukcyjnego. Parametry modelu matematycznego silnika wyznaczono w dwóch etapach: w pierwszym etapie z zastosowaniem algorytmu genetycznego (AG), natomiast w drugim - metody Boxa, przy czym wyniki identyfikacji otrzymane w etapie I stanowić będą warunki początkowe dla etapu II. Połączenie tego typu umożliwia wykorzystanie zalet obu metod, czyli z jednej strony skuteczności AG w przeszukiwaniu znacznych przestrzeni, a z drugiej dobrej zbieżności metody klasycznej w otoczeniu punktu ekstremum.
This paper presents the problem of parametric identification of induction motor mathematical model with the use of two-stage procedure of minimization of performance index, based on genetic algorithm (GA) with steady state (first stage of identification process) and classical Box's method (second stage of identification process). The results of genetic search are the start conditions for classical method. Such approach allows to use global capabilities of GA and good convergence of the classical method in surroundings of the global extremum point. This procedure with regard to convergence and accuracy for the parametric identification problem and the time of numerical calculations was analysed.

This paper deals with the modelling of traction linear induction motors (LIMs) for public transportation. The magnetic end effect inherent to these motors causes an asymmetry of their phase impedances. Thus, if the LIM is supplied from the three-phase symmetrical voltage, its phase currents become asymmetric. This effect must be taken into consideration when simulating the LIMs’ performance. Otherwise, when the motor phase currents are assumed to be symmetric in the simulation, the simulation results are in error. This paper investigates the LIM performance, considering the end-effect induced asymmetry of the phase currents, and presents a comparative study of the LIM performance characteristics in both the voltage and the current mode.

Opis:
The current passed by the stator coil of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) provides rotating magnetic field, and the number of turns will directly affect the performance of PMSM. In order to analyze its influence on the PMSM performance, a 3 kW, 1500 r/min PMSM is taken as an example, and the 2D transient electromagnetic field model is established. The correctness of the model is verified by comparing the experimental data and calculated data. Firstly, the finite element method (FEM) is used to calculate the electromagnetic field of the PMSM. The performance parameters of the PMSM are obtained. On this basis, the influence of the number of turns on PMSM performance is quantitatively analyzed, including current, no-load back electromotive force (EMF), overload capacity and torque. In addition, the influence of the number of turns on eddy current loss is further studied, and its variation rule is obtained, and the variation mechanism of eddy current loss is revealed. Finally, the temperature field of the PMSM is analyzed by the coupling method of electromagnetic field and temperature field, and the temperature rise law of PMSM is obtained. The analysis of this paper provides reference and practical value for the optimization design of PMSM.

W artykule opisano stanowisko laboratoryjne z silnikiem liniowym na bieżni liniowej znajdujące się w Katedrze Energoelektroniki i Maszyn Elektrycznych na Wydziale Elektrotechniki i Automatyki Politechniki Gdańskiej oraz omówiono, w jaki sposób rozwiązano problemy związane z działaniem wykorzystanych w systemie sterowania protokołów komunikacyjnych. Stanowisko ma charakter dydaktyczny. W skład stanowiska wchodzi indukcyjny silnik liniowy zasilany z przemiennika częstotliwości oraz jego system sterowania, którego głównymi elementami są: sterownik programowalny, dotykowy panel operatorski zintegrowany ze sterownikiem programowalnym oraz moduł rozproszonych wejść/wyjść. Wymiana danych pomiędzy sterownikiem programowalnym a modułem rozproszonych wejść/wyjść jest realizowana z wykorzystaniem protokołu CANopen, pomiędzy sterownikiem programowalnym a panelem operatorskim poprzez sieć Ethernet z protokołem UDP, a pomiędzy panelem operatorskim i modułem komunikacyjnym przemiennika częstotliwości z wykorzystaniem protokołu Modbus RTU. W artykule omówiono problem związany z wymianą danych pomiędzy sterownikiem programowalnym a panelem operatorskim z wykorzystaniem zmiennych sieciowych. Przedstawiono dwa sposoby, dzięki którym możliwe było rozwiązanie problemu błędów w komunikacji z wykorzystaniem zmiennych sieciowych.
In the paper a laboratory stand with the linear motor on the linear truck operating in the Department of Power Electronics and Electrical Machines on the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering in Gdansk University of Technology as well as the method how the problems related to operation of communication protocols implemented in the laboratory stand control system have been solved are described. The laboratory stand is of a didactic character. The stand consists of an induction linear motor supplied from a frequency converter and the control system, main components of which are: a programmable controller, an operator touch panel integrated with a programmable controller and a module of remote inputs/outputs. Data exchange between the programmable controller and the module of remote inputs/outputs is realized with the use of CANopen protocol, between the programmable controller and the operator panel through the Ethernet network with the use of UDP protocol, and between the operator panel and the communication module of the frequency converter with the use of Modbus RTU protocol. In the paper a problem related to data exchange between the programmable controller and the operator panel with the use of network variables has been described. Two methods, thanks to which it was possible to solve the problem of errors in communication with the use of network variables, have been presented.

Material handling and logistics management that involve transportation of work pieces on production floor are important aspects to manufacturing that affect productivity and efficiency. Tow vehicles that are manually driven are currently used for this purpose. These processes can be better performed through automation. Automated guided vehicle (AGV) is an apt solution. AGVs are unmanned autonomous vehicles that can be programmed to perform versatile tasks. AGVs available in market are imported and hence have high capital cost and increased lead time for spare parts. Proposed AGV is built with a capital cost that is less than half of the existing AGVs. Its design is made indigenously, with most of its parts locally sourced. It can achieve a speed of 0.83 m/s, with a pulling capacity of 1,300 kg. Its rechargeable batteries sustain four hours of continuous operation for one complete discharge. It has been tested and found to effectively replace tow vehicles.

This paper takes a 50 kW interior permanent magnet brushless DC motor as an example, and explores the influence of the degree of stator slot skew on the overall motor magnetic density and air gap magnetic density; then reveals the influences of stator slot skewed structure on a series of key electromagnetic properties like no-load back electromotive force (B-EMF), cogging torque, electromagnetic torque, torque fluctuation, electromagnetic loss, input power, output power and operating efficiency. On this basis, a relatively best range of the skew degrees is obtained. The research work in this paper has direct reference value for the further improvement of design and manufacture, operation and maintenance, control and protection of such motors.

The aim of the research was to select and evaluate polymers that could be used as rotor insulation in electric motors based on Halbach array system. Which have specific material properties, such as high mechanical strength, high thermal resistance and, especially, high thermal conductivity, also at room and at elevated temperatures. Three high performance polymers were selected for the research: polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyamideimide (PAI) and poly(p-phenylene sulphide) (PPS). Polymers were evaluated for mechanical strength, thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, specific heat capacity, linear thermal expansion and also differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal gravimetry (TG) analyses were carried out. Analyses are proved that all materials have appropriate properties for advanced electric motor insulator.

Opis:
This paper describes high-performance permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo-drive with constrained state feedback (SFC) position controller. Superior behavior of the control system has been achieved by applying SFC with constraints handling method based on a posteriori model predictive approach (MPAC). The concept utilizes predictive equations obtained from discrete-time model of the PMSM to compute control signals which generate admissible values of the future state variables. The novelty of the proposed solution lies in the limitation of several state-space variables in servo-drive control system. Since MPAC has firstly been applied to limit more than one state-space variable of the plant, necessary conditions for introducing constraints into multivariable control system with SFC are depicted. Due to the low complexity of proposed algorithm, a low cost microprocessor, STM32F4, is employed to execute the state feedback position control with model predictive approach to constraints handling. Experimental results show that the proposed control method provides superior performance of PMSM servodrive with modern SiC based voltage source inverter (VSI).
