Opis:
The article is devoted to the issue of human trafficking in legal and criminological terms, with particular emphasis on the exploitation of victims of the crime for work or forced services. The author introduces the essence of forced labour by reaching for many of its legal definitions contained in legal acts in the rank of conventions, as well as ordinary laws. At the same time, it highlights the factors that characterize the type of work indicated and allow to distinguish it from other types of violations, including violation of employee rights. The phenomenon of human trafficking is shown through the prism of its current evaluation tendencies, both globally and regionally (European, and especially EU). To this end, the author presents statistical data collected in recent years by, inter alia, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the International Labour Organization, the International Organization for Migration and the European Commission. She emphasizes, however, that the actual scale of the aforementioned crime remains unknown. A significant part of the discussion focuses on the issue of human trafficking in modern Poland, showing the scale of the dealings in question, diagnosed in recent years by law enforcement agencies. A lot of attention is also paid to the spectrum of crime threats on the Polish labour market from the perspective of foreigners. Thus, with particular care, she considers the problem of violating the employment rights of Ukrainian citizens as the largest group of foreigners illegally employed in Poland. She also shows the legal situation in this area of the citizens of Belarus, Moldova, India and Russia. She discusses this issue in the context of activities of the National Labour Inspectorate included in the audit report for 2017. The author further scientific interest includes the issue of criminalization of human trafficking in selected countries around the world. In this respect, it refers primarily to legal regulations contained in the Latvian, Hungarian, Swiss, Finnish, Ukrainian and Liechtenstein penal codes. The author’s ambition was to present the indicated issues in a concise manner, while also taking into account its most important aspects.

The following article is to introduce the reader into a cultural and intellectual movement whose aim is to identify the need for improvement in human life in the sphere of physicality as well as mentality with the aid of modern technologies – transhumanism. With the dramatic change in the perception of technology, transhumanist welcome the opportunity to improve cognitive skills, help to perpetuate human happiness, or increase longevity. Although the opponents of the transhumanist thought dismiss it as “the world’s most dangerous idea,” the adversaries advocate that the alternation of human form is both practical and reasonable. With the use of modern technology, enthusiasts of transhumanism try to prove that the human body needs to be re-invented in order to transcend the natural limitations. In my work I will try to tackle the problem of human body being currently subject to gradual transition from Homo Sapiens to Robo Sapiens, the process of ‘becoming’ a cyborg. By incorporating bodily augmentation, contemporary artists such as Stelarc or Neil Harbisson cast a light on the change of physical form, as well as the definition of being human. Evoking much controversy, transhumanism brings a completely new dimension to the understanding of the current human condition.

Opis:
Tematyka artykułu bezpośrednio wpisuje się w proces szeroko rozumianej aksjologii bezpieczeństwa człowieka. Jego celem jest analiza podstawowych czynników dehumanizujących życie społeczne. Autor poszukuje związków i zależności pomiędzy istotą terminów dehumanizacja, zagrożenia a tożsamość istoty ludzkiej.
This article becomes part of the process of the broadly understood axiology of human security. Its goal is to analyse the basic factors that dehumanise social life. The author attempts to highlight the relationship and dependencies between the terms dehumanisation, threat and identity of a human being. This constitutes the background for presenting individual and social factors that affect security. The security itself appears as the phenomenology of a human being’s development progress. This is the process of active and creative adjustment to the broadly understood life situation, behaviours and actions in the social environment.

Opis:
The author is indicating changes which took place within the interrelation among the family and the individual, from premodernity to postmodernity. The author is demonstrating, that contemporary shape of the family, which through by many researchers is named as the crisis of even a fall of the family, is a result of the long process consisting in the renegotiation of mutual duties and the possibility between the individual and family structure. The contemporary model of the relation between the individual and the family, consisting in weakening the family as the institution along with becoming stronger stayed of the individuals, which realize their purposes and desires mainly apart from her structures. In the author’s opinion the family is still an important institution for the human being. The contemporary family is also an only institution which is defending the individual against negative impacts of postmodernity.

Opis:
Long before the social thinkers, Shakespeare pointed out that the world around is a theater, while people are actors who gradually grow older and play distinct social roles. The allegoric representations emphasize in particular the age of adolescence and aging. The human being was shown in the pace of time. The destructive power of time manifests itself not only in the individuals biographies, but also in the record of social groups. Variety and transmutation in the panorama of humanity history are striking. The social forms are to characterize by the same lifetime cycles as animals and plants: they came into being, developed themselves, grow older and passing away. The most interesting artistic vision of that cyclical development is a Marquez novel A hundred years o f solitude. We can trace in there the time of birth, flourishing, the crisis and downfall of the Latin-American family and town. Similar cycles one can encounter in different epochs and regions of the world.

Opis:
This text aims to show that the core of human divinity according to Aristotle is exercising the divine mind for its own sake. Being happy and thus divine is auto-teleological, and must not be reduced to any sort of instrumental value. This reading of Aristotle excludes the theist interpretations of Prime Mover as well as the attempts at identifying the human mind with God, mainly because both these (different) interpretations seem to make auto-teleological bios theoretikos impossible. The first do this by introducing the divine provision which makes people act for God’s sake and not for their own sake. The others reduce the special status of humans by taking away the divine part, in my opinion being the sine qua non condition of the concept of human divinity. All the interpretations of human divinity which I have presented above can be useful nowadays in the ethical, (bio)ethical, social or even political discourse. This shows that the history of philosophy is not only about the past, but also about the future.

In 1995, the exhibition "Latin American Women Artists, 1915–1995" opened at the Milwaukee Art Museum. This exhibition marked the first-ever survey of Latin American women artists organised in the United States. Curated by Geraldine Pollack Biller, the show included works by thirty-five women artists active in eleven Latin American countries. This article aims to analyse the categories (“women artists”, “Latin American art”, and “Latin American women artists”) adopted by the exhibition and to examine some of the artists whose works were exhibited. What artists were selected? What were the implications of the selection? Did it reinforce certain stereotypes associated with Latin America and its art? Informed by feminist and Latin American art theories, deconstructing Euro-American notions of Latin American art, I argue that the emphasis on women artists did not significantly change the perception of Latin American art as “fantastic”. The thesis presented by anthropologist Sherry B. Ortner in 1974, which suggests that women have been traditionally linked with nature while men are associated with culture, can be illuminating when applied to comprehending the Latin American exotic cliché presented by the exhibition. Women were seen as doubly subsidiary human beings (in Rivolta Femminile’s words): non-Western and members of the second sex.

The idea of dialogue in philosophical and theological anthropology emphasizes the dignity proper to each human being as a person, and also the human social nature. In the 20th century many humanists rediscovered the idea of interpersonal dialogue. In the philosophical thought this idea is present in the works of Jewish thinkers: Martin Buber, Franz Rosenzweig and Emmanuel Levinas. But the notion of dialogue can also be useful in Chrisitian theological language. The article looks at the notion of dialogue in the definition of the relationship between God and human beings from the perspective of Christian Personalism. A “dialogically oriented theology” shows the relationship between God and man as a dialogue based on divine grace. The dignity of every human person is rooted in the vocation to dialogue with the persons of the Holy Trinity. This dialogue with God defines human beings in their relation to the world. The dialogue goes far beyond everyday life and finds its fulfillment in eternal dialogue with God and with the community of the redeemed.

The author analyzes Karolina Grzywnowicz’s installation Weeds (2015): a meadow which the artist replanted from two villages in Bieszczady—whose inhabitants had been resettled in 1944-1950—into a site adjoining a street in Warsaw. The meadow was promptly mowed by the municipal services, and thus became a twofold commemoration. First, it was a deliberately created yet subtle and poetical monument to the displaced people. Second, in a manner unanticipated by the artist, it grew into a symbolic martyrdom memorial of the “green urban anarchists”: weeds in other words. The author analyzes the relationships between non-human lives and history, asking whether the marginal history of plants is ever noticed in scientific and social reflection, as well as wondering about the role of plants in commemoration and why they fail as a medium of memory.

Wynika to z braku możliwości podjęcia pracy i głębokiego ubóstwa panującego w niektórych częściach tych krajów. W raporcie “Trafficking in Persons” (the TIP Report) za 2019 r., wydawanym przez Biuro ds.
