Long before the social thinkers, Shakespeare pointed out that the world around is a theater, while people are actors who gradually grow older and play distinct social roles. The allegoric representations emphasize in particular the age of adolescence and aging. The human being was shown in the pace of time.
The destructive power of time manifests itself not only in the individuals biographies, but also in the record of social groups. Variety and transmutation in the panorama of humanity history are striking. The social forms are to characterize by the same lifetime cycles as animals and plants: they came into being, developed themselves, grow older and passing away.
The most interesting artistic vision of that cyclical development is a Marquez novel A hundred years o f solitude. We can trace in there the time of birth, flourishing, the crisis and downfall of the Latin-American family and town. Similar cycles one can encounter in different epochs and regions of the world.
