Opis:
This paper aims at analysing and comparing several nominal expressions of plurality from a semantic and a discursive perspective: inhabited place names (cities, countries – la France), plural nominal syntagmas (les Français), human collective nouns (le peuple français, la population française, l’opinion française). From a denotative point of view, these expressions may be compared and may sometimes be substituted for one another, but each of them has distinctive characteristics, concerning the potential for ambiguity, the lexical meaning, the globalizing vs individualizing interpretation. By analysing mainly political discourse and basing our study on a semantico-referential approach, we will attempt to grasp the discursive and rhetorical stakes involved in the use of these different nominal expressions.

This study is about the Algerianity of Albert Camus, the greatest French writer of Algeria. The topic tackled has three aspects: Algeria as source of work, Camus’s Algerian political philosophy and the deterioration of his relationships with the native Algerian writers. The authoress leads to the following thesis: Albert Camus inscribes himself into the history of North African literature at the decline of the colonial age. His work is situated between a French colonial literature and one of the Algerians, founders of a national literature. Anticolonialist but opposed to the independence of Algeria, Albert Camus was overtaken by the revolution in motion. Camus’s double identity within the context of the Algerian war condemned him to becoming a stranger in his two countries. The drama of his separation fiom the Mother Algeria turned to tragedy with his premature and absurd death. The message of Albert Camus, an agnostic and moralist writer, remains alive. The author of The insurgent man encourages to overtake the absurdity of the human condition by man’s own strengths. Albert Camus, the Algerian sings the wedding of the man and the nature. Great artist, he continues to fascinate generations of readers with his magic word. For some of them, it’s because of its art that the work of Albert Camus remains.

In LSP, Discourse Analysis seems to be an indispensable element in determining the aims and content of education. It is part of the needs analysis of a given audience. However, most people who learn foreign languages for professional purposes, use ready-made materials rather than specially designed courses. LSP textbooks, including those used business language education, are developed for a wide audience. This, however, has negative consequences for the discursive aspects of this education, as illustrated in the corpus of textbooks for the Français des affaires, often seen as French in the company or French for professional communication. This broadly defined scope de facto covers different types of discourse. This is not so much a problem if discursive conditions are shown through didactic dialogues embedded in one company: discursive behaviors could then be patterned onto their models in a real company with similar parameters. However, the analyzed body of text shows that the authors of the textbooks examined focus more on introducing the necessary language forms and explaining the mechanisms of language functioning than on the mechanisms of matching the message to the context. An example of this is the neglect of the form that could mediate between tutoiement and vouvoiement, ie the use of name + vous. Recourse to discourse analysis would help avoid this and other reservations mentioned in the text.

The article presents contemporary tendencies in French and Polish to reduce the volume of words by the use of abbreviations (apocope and apheresis) and acronyms (initialisms, words from initial sounds, blends). At present, these tendencies are intensified by the increased speed of communication (facilitated by new technologies) as well as by the influence of English, which tends to abbreviate its vocabulary. By comparing French and Polish yet one can observe that French abbreviates words more often (it showed such tendencies earlier too), while Polish uses rather acronyms and contractions instead.

Opis:
Bien que dépourvus d'un rôle prépondérant comme organismes constructeurs, les Bryozoaires sont généralement présents dans l'environnement récifal en France au Dévonien. En Normandie (N-E du Massif armoricain) les Bryozoaires existent dans tous les biohermes de l'Horizon récifal de Baubigny (Siegénien). Les colonies de Fénestellides peuvent se présenter en voiles accrochés aux Stromatoporoïdes et aux Tabulés branchus. En Bretagne (W du Massif armoricain) les Bryozoaires constituent un élément important de la faune dans certains niveaux à tendance biohermale à l'intérieur d'une séquence carbonatée comme celle de la Pointe de l'Armorique (Siegénien). Ils paraissent plus rares dans les faciès récifaux des Pyrénées (Couvinien-Givétien). Dans l'Ardenne française, le seul domaine récifal se situe dans la région de Givet. La coupe du Mont d'Haurs (Givétien) a livré des Bryozoaires, surtout en bioclastes. Les horizons de type biostromal se révèlent plus favorables au développement et à la diversification des Bryozoaires que ceux de type biohermal dans le Boulonnais (Givétien-Frasnien).
