The paper presents an approach to the modelling of a cyclic battery tester and contains observations about lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, charging/discharging procedures, conditions and protections which must be observed during the testing process. The main goal was to create and simulate a schematic which will be capable of cyclically testing Li-ion battery cells. Regulation of the final schematic is based on cascade connections of operation amplifiers, which work as a voltage source with current-limiting functions. The power part is created by two MOSFETs connected as a half-bridge. This topology allows current to flow in both directions (from and to the battery). Final simulation is supplemented by protections such as reverse polarity protection, short circuit protection and overvoltage protection during charging. Proper operation of the whole connection is demonstrated by the simulation outputs in the final section.

In this paper the design and the magneto-static simulation of axial-flux permanent- magnet stepper motor with the disc type rotor is presented. Disk motors are particularly suitable for electrical vehicles, robots, valve control, pumps, centrifuges, fans, machine tools and manufacturing. The brushless machine with axial flux and permanent magnets, also called the disc-type machine, is an interesting alternative to its cylindrical radial flux counterpart due to the disk shape, compact construction and high torque density. This paper describes a design of four phase microstepping motor with the disc type rotor. The FEM modeling and the 3D magneto-static simulation of the disk stepper motor with permanent magnets is being subject of the article, too. Disc rotor type permanent magnet stepper motor for high torque to inertia ratio is ideal for robotics and CNC machines.

Biodiesel is a promising energy substitute of fossil fuels since it is produced from renewable and biodegradable sources. In the present work, reactive distillation (RD) process is designed and simulated using Aspen Plus process simulator to produce biodiesel of high purity through esterification reaction. The simultaneous reaction and separation in same unit enhances the biodiesel yield and composition in RD process. Two flowsheets are proposed in present work. In the first flowsheet, the unreacted methanol is recycled back to reactive distillation column. Biodiesel with 99.5 mol% purity is obtained in product stream while the byproduct stream comprises 95.2 mol% water, which has to be treated further. In the second flowsheet, a part of methanol recycle is split and purged. In this case, the biodiesel composition in product stream is 99.7 mol% whereas water composition is 99.9 mol% in byproduct stream, which can be reused for other process without treatment.

W pracy podjęto problem opracowania koncepcji i budowy czteronożnego robota kroczącego przeznaczonego do transportu ładunku. Wychodząc od syntezy strukturalnej kończyny został opracowany schemat kinematyczny oraz zbudowano komputerowy model obliczeniowy robota. Podjęto rozważania mające na celu opracowania programów i algoryt- mów chodu robota (po prostej, po łuku oraz przez przeszkody). Prace zostały zakończone przeprowadzeniem badań symulacyjnych przemieszczania robota w celu weryfikacji poprawności przyjętych rozwiązań.
In the paper, the problem of conception and building 4-legged walking robot intended for transport cargo was presented. Starting from the structural synthesis of leg the kinematic chain was developed, and the computer calculation model was built. Considerations have been taken to develop programs and walking algorithms (straight, a curve, by obstacles). The analysis were finished by simulations testing the robot movement in order to verify the correctness of the solutions assumed.

Opis:
This article proposes a method for designing and simulating jacquard warp-knitted towel fabric. Artistic conception drawing was used in realising the CAD design function of jacquard warp-knitted towel fabric based on the fabric structure and knitting principle. This study applied NURBS curves and the surface principle to build a three-dimensional solid model of the terry loop. Then using microscope type measurement instruments, the terry loop forms of the fabric surface were analysed and models of different forms of terry loop on the fabric surface built. With visual C++ for development tools combined with OpenGL graphics libraries, a CAD design and simulation function of jacquard warp-knitted towel fabric were finally realized within the CAD system.
W artykule zaproponowano metodę projektowania i symulacji żakardowej ręcznikowej dzianiny osnowowej. Artystyczną koncepcję uwidocznioną na rysunku wykorzystano przy realizacji funkcji projektowania CAD w oparciu o strukturę dzianiny i zasady dziania. W analizie wykorzystano krzywe NURBS i charakterystykę powierzchni dla konstrukcji trójwymiarowych brył modelu pętli frotte. Następnie za pomocą pomiarów mikroskopowych analizowano pętle frotte utworzone na powierzchni dzianiny i stworzono modele różnych form tych pętli. Wykorzystując wizualizacje C++ w kombinacji z programem graficznym OpenGL zaprojektowano przy pomocy CAD wzory i symulacje funkcji żakardowej dzianiny osnowowej.

Preliminary design of a spherical brain PET (SBPET) using liquid xenon (LXe) as detector is considered in this research work. The major advantage of a spherical design is the large solid angle of acceptance which improves the sensitivity and increases signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the image. The use of a liquid active medium enabled us to design a spherical detector. LXe, due to the intrinsic physical properties, is an excellent liquid medium for accurate tracking of gamma rays in the relevant energy range. The performance of SBPET was evaluated by Monte Carlo simulation tools (GATE) and compared to ECAT HRRT. The numerical results showed the SBPET has a sensitivity of 1.14% and spatial resolution of ~2.7 mm FWHM which is superior to ECAT HRRT especially at high-count rates.

This article compares two sensorless control algorithms for a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) based on the back-EMF sliding mode observer (SMO). Indirect SMO (I-SMO) treats the back-EMF voltages as a disturbance. Direct SMO (D-SMO) considers back-EMF voltages as state-space variables. The same phase-locked loop (PLL) is used for both observers for extraction of the rotor position and speed values from the observed back-EMF voltages. In a sensorless control, the observed speed is used as feedback for the PI controller, and the observed position is used in the Park transformations. Both observers have been implemented and tested with standard field-oriented control. Simulation results indicate rather comparable speed and position estimation precision for both, but the D-SMO indicates slightly higher precision in steady-state. Even more, a tuning procedure of the D-SMO is more straightforward when compared to the I-SMO. Thus, the D-SMO was further verified experimentally with the OP 5600 rapid prototyping device and with a 350 W PMSM drive. Experimental results of the D-SMO are included at the end of the paper.

The article discusses the automatic control system of the Diamond DA42 aircraft anti-icing system. In the analysis of the issue of icing, four parameters were taken into account: air temperature, cloud humidity, temperature of the aircraft and precipitation. On the basis of the initial parameters, the authors determined the icing intensity, which is likely to occur on the aircraft skin. By automating the activities related to the activation of the de-icing system, it is possible to significantly relieve the pilot and increase the safety of air operations, particularly in conditions, which are conducive to the formation of icing. The authors performed a thirty-minute electronic simulation of the flight in real atmospheric conditions. The article discusses the obtained results of the simulation. Designed system uses fuzzy logic. The system inputs and output were determined and fuzzy expert inference system was developed in MATLAB software and Fuzzy Logic Toolbox. The proper system work was verified with use of MATLAB/Simulink software. Use of that kind of systems can significantly relieve the pilot and increase the safety of air operations, particularly in conditions, which are conducive to the formation of icing.

We report an integrated micro-actuator for independent control of the displacement in three orthogonal directions. Electrostatic comb drives are employed for controlling the displace- ment in the x and y directions while a parallel plate-type actuation is used for driving the displacement in the z direction. The three actuators are mechanically coupled, but are elec- trically isolated. The calculation models are established for investigating the operation char- acteristics of the micro-actuator. The calculated results are in good agreement with those obtained by the finite element method in Comsol Multiphysics 4.3. The results of modal analysis show that the displacement in the three orthogonal directions can be independently controlled with low mode cross-talk.

W artykule omówiono projekt procesora dedykowanego do realizacji tabeli przejść i wyjść dowolnego automatu sekwencyjnego. Celem budowy było skonstruowanie procesora o jak najprostszej budowie reprezentującego podstawowe cechy procesora oraz zaprojektowanie takiego procesora i uruchomienie w środowisku Matlab/simulink. Założono, że projektowany procesor powinien realizować dowolny automat Moore'a, lub Mealy'ego. Proces projektowania został podzielony na części. Osobno zostały zaprojektowane poszczególne części składowe realizujące przypisane zadania. Wyróżniono następujące części składowe: licznik pamięci, akumulator, moduły wejścia wyjścia, moduł funkcji logicznej NXOR, moduł ustawiania jedynek do akumulatora oraz układ sterujący CU. Poszczególne części procesora są to logiczne układy sekwencyjne i kombinacyjne. Do budowy automatów kombinacyjnych zostały wykorzystane bloki Combinational logic programu Matlab/simulink. W artykule został przedstawiony schemat blokowy przedstawiający wszystkie składowe procesora oraz układ sterujący CU (Control unit), który jest najbardziej złożoną częścią składową procesora.
This paper discusses the design of a processor dedicated to the implementation of the state table and output table of finite-state machines. The aim was to construct a CPU of simplest construction that represents the basic processor features and run it in the Matlab/simulink environment. It was assumed that the processor should be designed to implement any Moore or Mealy machines. The design process is divided into parts. Components performing assigned tasks were individually designed. They are: memory counter, accumulator, input-output blocs, logical NXOR function module, module setting the ones for the accumulator and control unit CU. The different parts of the processor are combination and sequential logic machines. Combinational logic blocks of Matlab/Simulink were used for the construction of the combinatorial machines. In the paper a block diagram showing all components of the processor and the control unit CU is shown. The control unit is the most complex part of the processor.

The paper presents a specification and performance characteristics of a computer software application developed for rocket design engineering. The methodology for the determination of aerodynamic characteristics by the software application is based on the Chernabrovkin-Lebyadyev’s experimental and theoretical method. The computer simulation results presented in the paper were generated for two types of 122-mm calibre rockets, M-21OF Grad and M-21FHE Feniks. The simulation results were verified with the results produced using other calculation methods.
W pracy zamieszczono opis i charakterystykę użytkową opracowanej aplikacji komputerowej do projektowania pocisków rakietowych. Metodyka wyznaczania charakterystyk aerodynamicznych przez opracowane oprogramowanie bazuje na metodzie teoretyczno-doświadczalnej Czernabrowkina i Lebiadiewa. Zamieszczone w pracy wyniki symulacji komputerowej przeprowadzono dla 122 mm pocisku rakietowego M-21OF Grad oraz M-21FHE Feniks i zostały poddane weryfikacji z wynikami uzyskanymi innymi metodami obliczeniowymi.

This paper proposes the design and simulation of 2×2 circular patch antenna array working at 28 GHz by using four inset feed micro strip circular patch antennas to achieve beam forming with directivity around 13dB which is required to overcome part of high path loss challenge for high data rate mm-5G mobile station application. Four element 2x2 array consists of two 1x2 circular patch antenna arrays based on power divider and quarter wavelength transition lines as a matching circuit. The designed antenna array is simulated on RT/duroid 5880 dielectric substrate with properties of 0.5mm thickness, dielectric constant ε r =2.2, and tangent loss of 0.0009 by using Computer System Technology (CST) software. The performances in terms of return loss, 3D–radiation pattern is evaluated at 28 GHz frequency band. The design also includes the possibility of inserting four identical 2x2 antenna arrays at four edges of mobile station substrate to achieve broad space coverage by steering the beams of the mobile station arrays.

Opis:
Investigation of exhaust emissions and ammonia flow behavior in the exhaust system incorporating with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) unit is discussed. An aftertreatment system is designed to work without additional urea injection. This study is focused on obtaining optimal parameters for catalysis. Its effectiveness is considered as a function of basic parameters of exhaust gases mixture and SCR material characteristics. A 3D geometry of SCR with porous volume has been simulated using Ansys Fluent. Moreover, a 1D model of ammonia dual-fuel CI engine has been obtained. Results were focused on obtaining local temperature, velocity, and exhaust gases composition to predict optimal probes placement, pipes insulation parameters, and characteristic dimensions.

Multiphase flow meters are used to measure the water-liquid ratio (WLR) and void fraction in a multiphase fluid stream pipeline. In the present study, a system of multiphase flow measurement has been designed by application of three thallium-doped sodium iodide scintillators and a radioactive source of 133Ba simulated by Monte Carlo N-particle (MCNP) transport code. In order to capture radiations passing across the pipe, two direct detectors have been installed on opposite sides of the radioactive source. Another detector has been placed perpendicular to the transmission beam emitted from the 133Ba source to receive radiations scattered from the fluid flow. Simulation was done by the MCNP code for different volumetric fractions of water, oil, and gas phases for two types of flow regimes, namely, homogeneous and annular; training and validation data have been provided for the artificial neural network (ANN) to develop a computation model for pattern recognition. Depending on applications of the neural system, several structures of ANNs are used in the current paper to model the flow measurement relations, while the detector outputs are considered as the input parameters of the neural networks. The first, second, and third structures benefit from two, three, and five multilayer perceptron neural networks, respectively. Increasing the number of ANNs makes the system more complicated and decreases the available data; however, it increases the accuracy of estimation of WLR and gas void fraction. According to the results, the maximum relative difference was observed in the scattering detector. It was clear that transmission detectors would demonstrate the difference between the flow regimes as well. It is necessary to note that the error calculated by the MCNP simulator is <0.5% for the direct detectors (TR1 and TR2). Due to the difference between the data of the two flow regimes and the errors of data in the simulation codes of the MCNP, it was possible to separate these flow regimes. The effect of changing WLR on the efficiency for a constant void fraction confi rms a considerable variance in the results of annular and homogeneous flow s occurring in the scattering detector. There is a similar trend for the void fraction; hence, one can easily distinguish changes in efficiency due to the WLR. Analysis of the simulation results revealed that in the proposed structure of the multiphase flow meter and the computation model used for simulation, the two flow regimes are simply distinguishable.

Hydrofoil is widely used in underwater vehicle for the excellent hydrodynamic characteristics. Currently, researches are mostly about the rigid hydrofoil while the flexible hydrofoil, like the caudal fin, has not been studied adequately. In this paper, the fish was regarded as the bionic object. Then the kinematics model to describe the fish swimming was put forward. A fin-peduncle propulsion mechanism was designed based on the kinematics model to achieve the similar sine curve swimming model. The propulsion mechanism was optimized by Matlab to reduc the deviation between the output curve of the fin-peduncle propulsion mechanism and the ideal motion trajectory. Moreover, the motion phase angles among flexible articulations are optimized to reduce fluid resistance and improve propulsive efficiency. Finally, the fish-like hydrofoil oscillation is simulated by fluid-solid coupling method based on the Fluent. It was shown that the optimized flexible fish-like oscillation could generate the motion that follows the similar law of sine. The propulsive efficiency of oscillating hydrofoil propeller is much higher than that of the screw propeller, and the flexible oscillation has higher propulsive efficiency than the rigid oscillation without obvious fluid resistance increase.

This study aims to design a novel air cleaning facility which conforms to the current situation in China, and moreover can satisfy our demand on air purification under the condition of poor air quality, as well as discuss the development means of a prototype product. Air conditions in the operating room of a hospital were measured as the research subject of this study. First, a suitable turbulence model and boundary conditions were selected and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software was used to simulate indoor air distribution. The analysis and comparison of the simulation results suggested that increasing the area of air supply outlets and the number of return air inlets would not only increase the area of unidirectional flow region in main flow region, but also avoid an indoor vortex and turbulivity of the operating area. Based on the summary of heat and humidity management methods, the system operation mode and relevant parameter technologies as well as the characteristics of the thermal-humidity load of the operating room were analyzed and compiled. According to the load value and parameters of indoor design obtained after our calculations, the airflow distribution of purifying the air-conditioning system in a clean operating room was designed and checked. The research results suggested that the application of a secondary return air system in the summer could reduce energy consumption and be consistent with the concept of primary humidity control. This study analyzed the feasibility and energy conservation properties of cleaning air-conditioning technology in operating rooms, proposed some solutions to the problem, and performed a feasible simulation, which provides a reference for practical engineering.
Przedmiotem tego badania była czysta sala operacyjna. Zastosowano technologię czystej klimatyzacji. Obciążenie chłodnicze czystej klimatyzacji w okresie letnim zostało obliczone przy użyciu praktycznej metody obciążenia chłodniczego klimatyzacji oraz oprogramowania służącego do obliczania zużycia energii. Wyniki obliczeń zostały porównane i przeanalizowane. Model rozprowadzania powietrza był symulowany za pomocą Airpak 3.0, a symulowane wyniki zostały przeanalizowane.

Set of micromechanical (MEMS) test structures designed for fabrication on silicon, silicon carbide and diamond substrates has been successfully designed. A dedicated mask-set development has been carried along with numerical simulations performed with assistance of a dedicated design and modelling CoventorWare™ - toolset by Coventor. A set of sample simulations presented in this paper has been performed for specific simulation domains focused on silicon-alternative material reality to proof the usefulness of proposed substrates. The aim was to verify its applicability for MEMS design and confirm an outstanding performance of the resulting device which effectively opens a new area of interest for subsequent research and development efforts.

In this work, we present results for a new dissipative jerk chaotic system with three quadratic terms in its dynamics.We describe the bifurcation analysis for the new jerk system and also show that the proposed system exhibits multi-stability. Next, we describe a backstepping control-based synchronization design for a pair of new jerk chaotic systems. MATLAB simulations are put forth to exhibit the various findings in this work. Furthermore, we exhibit a circuit simulation for the new jerk system using MultiSim.

The analysis of the field of application of gripper is carried out. Are allocated perspective areas of development of a robotics. The main difficulties in the application of kinematic schemes for gripping devices with rotary finger movement are described. The prospective application of the kinematic scheme of the gripper with a straight-parallel plane-parallel motion of the fingers is proved when manipulating an object of the "shaft" type. A new scheme of a gripper with a rectilinear plane-parallel finger movement is presented. Its design is simpler and cheaper than known devices of this type. The capability of the gripper design in the engineering analysis environment has been fulfilled. Numerous computer studies of both individual design elements and pairs of objects that are in interaction have confirmed the operability of the developed design. It is established that the frictional force in the mobile components of the gripper design is insignificant, which will not create the prerequisites for a significant increase in size.

Opis:
Removal of metal chips is involved in several industrial production processes that machine from casted parts by various operations such as turning, milling and drilling. In addition to the fact that the chips represent a treat to the environment, their storage requires a large surface area. The objective of the project reported in this article is to improve the current layout of a machining workshop aimed at minimizing the material handling cost, increasing operator safety, improving flexibility for operation, minimizing the overall cost and utilizing the available area. The research project focused on the compaction of metal chips briquette for simplicity of storage as well as handling and transportation of metal chips for Hibret Manufacturing and Machine Building Industry (HMMBI) factory. The machining process on CNC lathe and milling machines in this company produces 1500–2000 kg chips/month. An effective design of hydraulic briquette press is carried out by using a solid modelling tool and simulating the hydraulic circuit. The result of the designed machine was observed to address the stated problems of the company.

In the present work, an approach to obtain a design method for the size of the plenum chamber cross-section of a marine gas turbine air supply system has been investigated. Flow in ducts makes noise which is very high in the turbine inlet part because of the large amount of flow. Therefore, this phenomenon should be considered in the design process. A suitable approach to design the duct is proposed (considering acoustic and aerodynamic performance at the same time). In this method, an air supply channel system of the marine gas turbine has been categorized into three sections according to the requirements of the aerodynamic and acoustic; inlet, plenum chamber, and outlet channels with circular cross-sections. The geometrical dimensions of inlet and outlet channels have been determined using the plane waves theory about a channel, in which the effects of flow is ignored. Space limitations of battleships at the dominant frequency have been considered. Then, the optimized size of the mid-channel section, in terms of both aerodynamic and acoustic requirements, using numerical methods and regarding the effects of flow has been calculated. Various 3D turbulent flows inside the plenum chamber have been considered, in which large eddy simulation turbulence model is utilized. Ffowcs, Williams and Hawkings models are used for the sound propagation process based on the Lighthill integral equation. The validity of the simulation has been checked by comparing results (sound pressure level) with experimental data obtained from a chamber. The comparison revealed the acceptable errors for a variety of frequencies. The results disclosed that the performance of channel system aerodynamic decreased when the fraction of plenum chamber cross-section to inlet/outlet channel cross-section increased. With an increase in the cross-section size at first Acoustic performance is improved and then worsen. Six different cases of marine gas turbine air supply system configurations have been presented, in which the limitation of the battleship space is considered. Examining and comparing the acoustic performance of different cases of the air supply channel system, it was found that the amount of sound pressure level, around the air supply channel system, and the high-pressure sound area can move along the air supply channel system. Additionally, deviations from plane waves considering the effects of flow have been inspected in all cases. The reason for this deviation is the effects of the airflow through the channel system and quadrupole sources in the production of sound in the channel system, which causes higher modes.

This paper presents the design and the electromagnetic field simulation of axial-flux permanentmagnet stepper motor with the disc type rotor. The stepper motor with disc type permanent magnet rotor shows the advantages of higher torque at high speed, low moment of inertia, high torque to weight ratio, low power consumption and ironless rotor having minimum iron loss using permanent magnets and prepregs. This paper describes a design of four phase microstepping motor with the disc type rotor. The FEM modeling and the 3D electromagnetic field simulation of the disk stepper motor with permanent magnets is being subject of the article, too. Disc rotor type permanent magnet stepper motor for high torque to inertia ratio is ideal for robotics and CNC machines.

W artykule przedstawiono możliwości wykorzystania zaawansowanych programów komputerowych do wspomagania projektowania inżynierskiego w procesie edukacyjnym studentów szkół wyższych o profilu mechaniczno-górniczym. Na przykładzie wybranych rozwiązań nietypowych maszyn i urządzeń opracowanych dla potrzeb górnictwa pokazano zastosowanie tych programów, głównie Autodesk Inventor i AutoCAD, w procesie ich projektowania i przeprowadzania badań symulacyjnych związanych z ich kinematyką, efektywnością oraz możliwością wystąpienia kolizji poszczególnych elementów konstrukcji podczas pracy. Zostały przedstawione wyniki prac studentów AGH Kraków realizowanych w Katedrze Maszyn Górniczych, Przeróbczych i Transportowych.
The article presents the possibility of using advanced computer programs to assist the engineering design in the didactic process of students of technical universities of mechanical and mining profile. For example of few selected solutions of unusual machineries and equipments, developed for the mining industry, the application of these programs, mainly Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD was shown. The process of design and simulation tests related to their kinematics, efficiency and the possibility of collisions of individual elements of the structure during operation was described. The results of works developed by the students of the AGH University of Krakow, performed in the Department of Mining, Processing and Transport Machines, were presented.

In this paper a design of a new dielectrophoretic microfilter is proposed, based on electrodes configuration having stairs geometry that multiply the opposite points of electrodes where minimal and maximal values of electric field are obtained. The results of electrostatic simulation show very well defined regions of extremes values where particles can be separated. A model for particle-fluid interaction is used in momentum equation as reaction body force depending on electric field and particle concentration. The fluid flow and particles separation were simulated for positive dielectrophoresis, based on electrostatic results by means of dielectrophoretic velocity and reaction force acting on suspending media. The distribution of particle concentration depends on dielectrophoretic velocity and flow velocity, but also it influences the flow velocity, hence these fields were solved in coupled approach. The resulting flow profile, streamlines and concentration distribution demonstrate that particle migration influences the surrounding fluid and leads to modified velocity distribution by comparison to classical fluid flow.

This work demonstrates the study of the numerical modelling and a design of a compact energy generator based on green hydrogen. This generator aims allowing the energy storage, electricity, cold and heat productions as well as a supply the energy for the production of the sanitary hot water. The generator is considered to be powered by 30 solar cells panels and will mainly consist of a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzer compiled with a Metal Hydride (MH) tank, a PEM fuel cell, and a system of heat exchangers sized to recover the heat from the electrolyzer, PEM fuel cell and MH tank. Furthermore, the generator will contain an adsorber to manage air conditioning (cooling and heating) and a production of the sanitary hot water. A converter block is included in the generator, in particular, a Buck-booster to raise the voltage of the solar panels and the DC-AC converter for the electricity consumption in the household. The desorption of the hydrogen contained in the tank MH will take place using the heating resistance. In overall, the designed generator is foreseen to have a dimension of 1800 × 1000 × 500 mm and its role is to allow integration of the hydrogen energy for the tertiary and residential sectors. As such it is a suitable choice of components for the cost reduction and high yield hydrogen production, storage, and consumption.

Architectural practice, based on canon and proportion, interprets reality in a idealistic way. Communicates meanings based on codes recognizable in the context of tradition. Based on the assumptions of Anglo-Saxon empiricism, the paper seeks to identify the classic experiment and examine if it is an effective tool of architecture. It looks for answers to the question of whether the experimental method supports the creative activities and whether this has changed in the context of information age. Case study contains examples of modern buildings and selected student works expressing ASK program specificity.

This imposes a large set of highly demanding requirements on the DWDS operation and requires dedicated algorithms for on-line monitoring and control to tackle related problems. Requirements on DWDS availability restrict the usability of the real plant in the design phase. Thus, a proper model is crucial. Within this paper a DWDS multi-species quality model for simulation and design is derived. The model is composed of multiple highly inter-connected modules which are introduced to represent chemical and biological species and (above all) their interactions. The chemical part includes the processes of chloramine decay with additional bromine catalysis and reaction with nitrogen compounds. The biological part consists of both heterotrophic and chemo-autotrophic bacteria species. The heterotrophic bacteria are assumed to consume assimilable organic carbon. Autotrophs are ammonia oxidizing bacteria and nitrite oxidizing bacteria species which are responsible for nitrification processes. Moreover, Disinfection By-Products (DBPs) are also considered. Two numerical examples illustrate the derived model’s behaviour in normal and disturbance operational states.

Opis:
Design of experiments (DOE) is an effective method providing useful information about the interaction of operating variables and the way the total system works by using statistical analyses. However, its industrial application is limited because it is almost difficult to maintain variables in DOE matrix at desired constant levels in industrial environment. Thus, this paper aims to present a new mixed modeling method which is a combination of fuzzy logic and design of experiments methods to overcome such practical limitations. The method first uses a fuzzy model which is trained by practical data gathered from industry to predict DOE response corresponding to each run in DOE matrix. Then, a statistical parametric model is constructed for the prediction of process response to any change of operating parameters under real industrial conditions. The proposed mixed method was successfully validated by using data obtained from a coal hydraulic classifier at Zarand Coal Washing Plant (Kerman, Iran). The method also seems to be a promising tool for modeling all devices and processes in real industrial environment and allows researchers to benefit from all the advantages of experimental design and fuzzy logic methods simultaneously.

The cyclic modular approach is proposed for mechatronic object design. The approach is based on a new conceptual model of the object and a new algorithm of its design. The model consists of invariant and changeable parts. The parts have a hierarchical structure. The proposed algorithm allows for creating the object from the basis principle to the construction step by step. It makes it possible to design an adequate object in all forms of its representations: structure, schematic diagram, mathematical model and construction. Each of these forms has an invariant part, i.e. the structure of the functioning process of the object. Application of the proposed approach reduces the time needed for the object design.
Zaproponowano zastosowanie podejścia cykliczno-modularnego w projektowaniu obiektów mechatronicznych. Podejście jest oparte na nowym modelu pojęciowym i nowym algorytmie projektowania. Model składa się z części zmiennych i niezmiennych. Części modelu mają strukturę hierarchiczną. Proponowany algorytm umożliwia tworzenie obiektu krok po kroku wychodząc od jego podstawowej zasady działania. Pozwala to na projektowanie odpowiedniego obiektu we wszystkich formach jego reprezentacji, którymi są: struktura, schemat graficzny, model matematyczny i konstrukcja. Każda z tych form ma część niezmienną, tzn. strukturę procesu funkcjonowania obiektu. Zastosowanie proponowanego podejścia pozwala ograniczyć czas potrzebny na projektowanie obiektu.

This paper aims to develop an approach to identify optimal fleet size under uncertainty and to identify important factors affecting transportation performance. The methodologies used in this paper are two folded. The first methodology is to develop a simulation model that allows manager to evaluate the impact of having different number of trailers on delivery and cost in order to identify the optimal fleet size. The second methodology is to use a Design of experiment (DOE) together with the simulation model to identify important factors that affect transportation performances. The result shows that the company should hire 16 trailers, which will reduce the delivery delay from 14% to 0.02%. Furthermore, it is found that variation in demand has a strong impact on late delivery and cost. There is also an interaction between demand variation and transportation time variation.
Niniejszy dokument ma na celu opracowanie podejścia do określania optymalnej wielkości floty w warunkach niepewności oraz określenie ważnych czynników wpływających na wydajność transportu. Metodologie stosowane w tym artykule są złożone. Pierwszą metodologią jest opracowanie modelu symulacyjnego, który umożliwi menedżerowi ocenę wpływu posiadania różnych przyczep i kosztów w celu określenia optymalnego rozmiaru floty. Drugą metodologią jest wykorzystanie projektu eksperymentu (DOE) wraz z modelem symulacyjnym w celu zidentyfikowania ważnych czynników wpływających na wydajność transportu. Wynik pokazuje, że firma powinna wynająć 16 przyczep, co zmniejszy opóźnienie dostawy z 14% do 0.02%. Ponadto stwierdzono, że zróżnicowanie popytu ma duży wpływ na opóźnienia w dostawie i koszty. Istnieje również interakcja między zmiennością popytu a zmiennością czasu transportu.

The article presents the principle of operation, design method, and results of laboratory and simulation tests of a 24-pulse power network converter system with direct-voltage output, the concept and practical realisation of which was worked out within the framework of a research project financed by the State Committee for Scientific Research. The presented converter allows significant reduction of undesirable higher harmonics in the power network current, including the elimination of harmonics of an order 23 and 25. The 24-pulse nature of operation of the system is obtained using three sets of coupled three-phase power network reactors (CTR).

Praca dotyczy problemu projektowania i badania systemów MS-WIM (Multi-Sensor Weigh in Motion), które pozwalają ważyć poruszające się pojazdu samochodowe, bez nakładania istotnych ograniczeń na ich prędkość. Głównym etapem procesu projektowania jest modelowanie podstawowych elementów takiego systemu i badania symulacyjne prowadzone na tych modelach. W pracy przedstawiono modele wieloczujnikowego stanowiska ważącego, nawierzchni drogi, zawieszenia mechanicznego ważonego pojazdu oraz modele algorytmów estymacji nacisków statycznych oraz masy całkowitej pojazdu. Przedstawione modele zostały zweryfikowane poprzez porównanie wyników rozważań analitycznych prowadzonych przy przyjętych założeniach upraszczających z wynikami badań symulacyjnych przeprowadzonych na tych modelach. Celem projektowania systemu MS-WIM jest znalezienie takich wartości parametrów wymienionych elementów systemu, które pozwolą ograniczyć niepewność wyniku ważenia do poziomu 2%, bez specjalnego ograniczania prędkości pojazdu. Uzyskane wyniki pokazują, że ten cel może zostać osiągnięty w systemie ważącym wyposażonym w co najmniej 16 linii czujników nacisku.
The paper addresses the problem of design of the Multi-Sensor Weigh in Motion (MS-WIM) systems, which allow weighing the moving vehicles without serious limitation of their velocity. The main stage of the system design is its modeling and simulation tests. The simulation tests are conducted on the models describing the main elements of the MS-WIM system which are as follows: - model of multi-sensor WIM site, model of road surface, model of weighed vehicle suspension and model of data processing algorithm. The mathematical models of all elements are presented in the paper. The presented models were validated by comparing the results of analytical analysis conducted for assumed simplification to the simulation results obtained for the models. The aim of the system which allow limiting the weighing uncertainty to the level of 2%, without serious limiting of the vehicles velocity. The obtained results show, that this aim could be reached using MS-WIM system equipped with at least 16 load sensors.

A fast time simulation tool box is under development to simulate the ships motion with complex dynamic models and to display the ships track immediately for the intended or actual rudder or engine manoeuvre. Based on this approach the innovative “Simulation Augmented Manoeuvring Design and Monitoring” - SAMMON tool box will allow for (a) a new type of design of a manoeuvring plan as enhancement exceeding the common pure way point planning (b) an unmatched monitoring of ship handling processes to follow the underlying manoeuvring plan. During the manoeuvring process the planned manoeuvres can be constantly displayed together with the actual ship motion and the predicted future track which is based on actual input data from the ship’s sensors and manoeuvring handle positions. This SAMMON tool box is intended be used on board of real ships but it is in parallel an effective tool for training in ship handling simulators: (a) in the briefing for preparing a manoeuvring plan for the whole exercise in some minutes, (b) during the exercise run to see the consequences of the use of manoeuvring equipment even before the ship has changed her motion and (c) in debriefing sessions to discuss potential alternatives of the students decisions by simulating fast variations of their choices during the exercises. Examples will be given for results from test trials on board and in the full mission ship handling simulator of the Maritime Simulation Centre Warnemuende.

Structural design analyses of industrial dye mixing machines, concerning mixing impeller geometries, mixing performances, and power requirements aren’t generally of scientific quality. Our aim is to propose a practical method for minimizing execution time, using parametric design. In this study, Visual Basic API codes are developed in order to model the impellers in SolidWork,sup>R software, and then flow analyses are conducted. Thus, velocity values and moment/torque values required for mixing operation are determined. This study is carried out for different shaft rotational speeds and different impeller diameters. Flow trajectories are obtained. After that, frequency analyses are conducted and natural frequency values are obtained. In the scope of this study, two different impeller types are investigated.

This study reports on the development and validation of a new computer model for simulating human postures at work, and assessing the reaction forces and bending moments in 43 human articulation joints. The proposed model estimates the intradiscal pressure in the vertebral column in response to external loading forces encountered during human interactions with work objects or processes. The model was implemented in a selfcontained interactive software package. The simulation results compare favorably with the reported experimental data, and provide reasonable confidence in the quality of the model. Its characteristics and its applications in evaluating physical task performance are also discussed.

This paper descript software for vehicle simulation and mathematical models that describe the motion of the vehicle. A dynamic simulation model of vehicle was developed using Matlab/Simulink and SimDriveline toolbox. The model has a configurable structure that is suitable to simulation with multiple levels. The powertrain system model developed using Simulink and SimDrivline could also be used as a generic, modular and flexible vehicle modeling platform to support the integration of powertrain design and control system optimization.

FACTS controllers are found to be effective in improving transient stability of power system. WSCC 9-bus system has been utilized as test system developed in MATLAB/Simulink software. This paper investigates the improvement of transient stability of a 3-machine 9-bus WSCC system using STATCOM and TCSC and their relative performances are studied with the help of simulation results validated with OPAL-RT real time simulator. Particular attention is paid to real-time simulation approach which provides adequate and comprehensive modeling of electric power systems (EPS) containing FACTS. Simulation results are quite encouraging and show the effectiveness of STATCOM and TCSC in improving transient stability of the test system.

The main aim of the paper is to present the process of design pipe inspection mobile robot by using 3D simulations. Next methods and processes of making designed components was described. Finally, functional tests of a constructed real robot model such as speed tests, inclined pipe test was carried out. The robot was specifically designed to inspect sewer pipelines. The mobile robot is equipped with a vision system. The structure of the pipe inspection robot allows adjustments to the geometrical parameters of the robot to suit the sewer pipes diameters by using in the construction of a pneumatic system with an actuator.

Distributed energy resources (DER) are a combination of distributed generation, energy storage and demand-side measures. DER can be used to help utilities solve problems on the distribution system by supporting voltage, reducing losses, providing backup power, improving local power quality7 and reliability, or deferring distribution system upgrade. They present, however, some important drawbacks such as new protection coordination problems, complicated operating procedures, or intermittent nature of renewable sources. All these issues complicate the analysis of distribution systems with a high penetration of DER devices. Required simulation tools must therefore combine analysis and modelling capabilities for representing the various DER technologies accurately. Since distribution systems were not designed for the inclusion of DER, most distribution software packages were not designed for the analysis of systems with embedded generation either. Present software designed for the study of distribution systems can efficiently cope with unbalanced load-flow and short circuit calculations, load growth studies, or system restoration and contingency analysis. However, they do not deal with transient stability and small signal stability because traditionally there was no generation at distribution level. This situation is changing, software manufacturers are updating and expanding tool capabilities to take into account the new simulation challenges, and new and specialized tools have been developed to cope with problems related to the installation of DER devices. This paper is aimed at reviewing the present status and the future trends of simulation tools for analysis and planning of distribution systems with penetration of DER, including market-oriented analysis and real-time simulation.

The study presents a mathematical model in terms of the Boltzmann-Hamel equations representing a controlled Unmanned Aerial vehicle (UAV) motion. The widely known problems with takeoff and recovery manoeuvres of UAV are considered. Both manoeuvres are characterised by low velocities, large angles of attack and relatively low efficiency of the control, so the sophisticated procedures are then necessary to ensure flight safe during these phases of motion. Some results of the first phase of recovery manoeuvre numerical simulations are reported.
Model matematyczny BSL w numerycznej symulacji manewru odzysku w locie zaburzonym. W pracy przedstawiono model dynamiki lotu sterowanego samolotu bezpilotowego, który wyprowadzono posługując się formalizmem Boltzmanna-Hamela. Szeroko znane są problemy występujące podczas startu i odzysku tego rodzaju obiektów. Oba manewry charakteryzują się małą prędkością lotu, występowaniem dużych kątów natarcia oraz stosunkowo małą skutecznością sterowania, co powoduje konieczność opracowywania wyrafiniwanych procedur pozwalających na bezpieczną realizację tych faz lotu. W pracy zaprezentowano wyniki symulacji numerycznej początkowej fazy manewru odzysku, jaki opracowano dla samolotu bezpilotowego SOWA.

Hybrydowe techniki sprzętowo - programowe stosowane we współczesnym pojeździe wymagają, w okresie procesu projektowania i produkcji, komputerowej symulacji oraz eksperymentu dla zapewnienia odpowiedniej jakości. Nieustanny wzrost ilościowy systemów mechatronicznych pojazdu, wymagań w zakresie bezpieczeństwa, ochrony środowiska, standaryzacji oraz globalnej konkurencji zapoczątkował proces, który można nazwać mianem wirtualnej produkcji. W artykule omówiono problemy mechatronicznego projektowania systemów elektryczno-elektronicznych (EE) pojazdu. Zakres zagadnień obejmuje modelowanie podukładów różnych dziedzin techniki (elektrycznych, mechanicznych, cieplnych, hydraulicznych i pneumatycznych) w środowisku SystemVision. Poszczególne fazy procesu projektowania mechatronicznego, niezależnie od stopnia szczegółowości, wymagają integracji zastosowanych rozwiązań sprzętowych i programowych. Symulacja i analiza obejmuje badania statyczne i dynamiczne w dziedzinie czasu i częstotliwości oraz wykorzystuje narzędzia statystyczne. Przedstawione zostały zasady i przykłady modelowania wybranych elementów sieci pokładowej i instalacji elektrycznej pojazdu za pomocą platform programowych, opierających się na języku modelowania multidyscyplinarnego VHDL-AMS według normy IEEE 1076.1. oraz standardach samochodowych w zakresie stosowanych modeli podzespołów VAD/FAT-AK30 i struktury oprogramowania AUTOSAR, pozwalających na integrację z narzędziami projektowania MCAD.
Hardware/software hybrid technologies used in the vehicles required computer aided simulation and experimental testing during the designing process to make sure about reliability and quality. The growth of the number of mechatronic systems in the typical automobile, increasing legislative safety and environmental mandates, global standarization started virtual vehicle creation process. In the paper the mechatronic design of automotive EE systems is discussed. The modeling, simulation and system integration environment SystemVision that supports various engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic and pneumatic) and multiple levels of systems abstraction is presented. Simulation and analysis includes domains: time, frequency and DC with the parametric and statistical design processes. This paper provides some models available in VHDL-AMS (IEEE 1076.1) open-source hardware description language for automotive electrical system design and analysis. The significance of VDA/FAT-AK30, AUTOSAR standards and the software tools with the bridges to MCAD design for management, engineering and manufacturing of automotive on-board network and composite large scale vehicle wiring harnesses is emphasized.

The author focuses his research mainly on the area of logistics multimodal networks modeling and design. Yet, he has wide experience in using various simulation tools, such as spreadsheets, programming languages and programming libraries as well as simulation packages. Therefore, the author has made an attempt to survey the available simulation tools and techniques from the viewpoint of their practical modeling and designing multimodal logistic networks. The Research Highlights of performed works are: selection of IT tool appropriate for multimodal networks simulation, focus on complementary approaches based on Discrete Even Systems (DES) and Agent Based Systems (ABS), presentation of reasons which driven the choice of the tool. One of the main papers finding is analysis of existing simulation tools regarding defined requirements. Main fin-.dings are also reasons which are presented and decided about selection of FlexSim software tool. Especially that the presentation of two practical examples are included..
Autor w swoich badaniach skupia się na modelowaniu.i projektowaniu logistycznych sieci multimodalnych. Bazując na swoim do.wiadczeniu w używaniu różnych narzędzi symulacyjnych takich jak: arkusze kalkulacyjne, specjalizowane języki programowania, biblioteki programowe jak również pakiety symulacyjne - autor dokonuje w pracy przeglądu dostępnych technik i narzędzi symulacyjnych z punktu widzenia praktycznego ich wykorzystania w modelowaniu i projektowaniu logistycznych sieci multimodalnych. Najważniejsze punkty zrealizowanych badań to: właściwa dla symulacji sieci multimodalnych selekcja narzędzi IT, skupienie się na dopełniających się podejściach bazujących na systemach zdarzeń dyskretnych (DES - Discrete Event Systems) i systemach agentowych (ABS - Agent Based Systems), przedstawienie racji które kierowały wyborem określonego narzędzia. Jednym z najważniejszych efektów prezentowanych w pracy jest analiza dostępnych pakietów symulacyjnych oparta na zdefiniowanych wymaganiach oraz przedstawienie racji, które zadecydowały o wyborze pakietu symulacyjnego FlexSim, najlepiej spełniającego zdefiniowane wymagania. W pracy przedstawiono również dwa praktyczne przykłady modeli symulacyjnych sieci multimodalnych zrealizowanych z wykorzystaniem wybranego narzędzia.

The study develops numerical modelling and design of the ALFC shield loaded by the 20 mm 54 g FSP fragment moving at impact velocity of 1800 m/s (fragmentation simulation of IED devices), used to protect 5 mm-thick Armox 500T steel plate. The ALFC shield is composed of the ALF energy-absorbing subsystem and a 99.7% Al2O3 alumina ceramic layer. The ALF subsystem is designed to absorb blast wave impact energy induced by explosive materials up to 10 kg TNT. The ceramic layer is aimed at stopping FSP fragments. The 5 mm-thick Armox 500T steel plate reflects the body bottom segment of a light armoured vehicle. The main purpose of the study is to determine the minimum thickness of the ceramic layer at which the 5 mm-thick Armox 500T steel plate is fully protected from perforation. The ALF subsystem has the following layered structure: Al2024 aluminium alloy plate, SCACS hybrid laminate plate, ALPORAS aluminium foam, SCACS hybrid laminate plate. The layers are joined with Soudaseal 2K chemoset glue. SCACS hybrid laminate contains the following components: VE 11-M modified vinylester resin (matrix), SWR800 glass S plain weave fabric, Tenax HTA40 6K carbon plain weave fabric, Kevlar 49 T 968 aramid plain weave fabric. The total thickness of the ALF shield amounts to 76 mm. In the numerical modelling, the aluminium alloy plate and Armox 500T steel plate are working in the elasto-plastic range according to Johnson–Cook model. The 99.7% Al2O3 alumina ceramic is working in elasto--hort range according to JH-2 Johnson-Holmquist model. The simulations correspond to large displacements, large deformations and contact among all the components of the system. In FE mesh, the 8-node 24 DOF hexahedral finite elements with single integration point have been used. Additional failure criteria governing ad-hoc erosion of finite elements have been applied. The FEM modelling, simulation and postprocessing have been carried out using Catia, HyperMesh, LS-DYNA and LS-PrePost systems. The simulation results are presented in the form of displacement - perforation contours and the FSP final deformation for both the FSP–shield-plate and the FSP-plate systems. It has been pointed out that 18 mm-thick ceramic layer protects the LAV body bottom plate from perforation.

Opis:
Usage of the distributed information databases (DIDB) is the most spread way of allocation of service of clients and support of cooperation between large corporations or banks. At usage DIDB in real-time mode (the actual data are accessible to all valid users at the moment of inquiry to reading or upgrade) most essential is the factor of capacity of networks. Change of the physical characteristics of modern networks is very expensive procedure. Moreover, if a gorge by transmission becomes data links, their replacement also requires essential time, that can reduce in the additional losses. In such conditions the mechanism of backup is applied to support of continuity of the computing process (CP). Except for data links a gorge in operation with DIDB can be intermediate sites, gateway servers, routers and other equipment. Frequently these functions can fulfil the same computational capabilities, which are used for processing DIDB. In this case (if the backup is not stipulated by network architecture) it is necessary to reallocate a working load (WL) between other network nodes on time of exception of a site for realization of adaptive operations or its replacement.

Opis:
Bionics has been widely used in many fields. Previous studies on the application of bionics in locomotives and vehicles mainly focused on shape optimisation of high-speed trains, but the research on bionic shape design in the electric locomotive field is rare. This study investigated a design method for streamlined electric locomotives according to the principles of bionics. The crocodiles were chosen as the bionic object because of their powerful and streamlined head shape. Firstly, geometric characteristic lines were extracted from the head of a crocodile by analysing the head features. Secondly, according to the actual size requirements of the electric locomotive head, a free-hand sketch of the bionic electric locomotive head was completed by adjusting the position and scale of the geometric characteristic lines. Finally, the non-uniform rational B-splines method was used to establish a 3D digital model of the crocodile bionic electric locomotive, and the main and auxiliary control lines were created. To verify the drag reduction effect of the crocodile bionic electric locomotive, numerical simulations of aerodynamic drag were performed for the crocodile bionic and bluff body electric locomotives at different speeds in open air by using the CFD software, ANSYS FLUENT16.0. The geometric models of crocodile bionic and bluff body electric locomotives were both marshalled with three cars, namely, locomotive + middle car + locomotive, and the size of the two geometric models was uniform. Dimensions and grids of the flow field were defined. And then, according to the principle of motion relativity, boundary conditions of flow field were defined. The results indicated that the crocodile bionic electric locomotive demonstrated a good aerodynamic performance. At the six sampling speeds in the range of 40–240 km/h, the aerodynamic drag coefficient of the crocodile bionic electric locomotive decreased by 7.7% on the average compared with that of the bluff body electric locomotive.

The paper presents a case study from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina on experiential learning approach to accessibility, inclusion and universal design in architectural education in line with the global communities’ efforts in raising awareness and fostering education on the needs of persons with disabilities. The study is particularly relevant due to the fact that the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and consequent safety measures amplified marginalization of people with disabilities. Bosnia and Herzegovina over the years failed to deliver on many basic principles signed in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Although scientific stance in literature review is divided on the subject of disability simulation activities as education method, this paper argues in favor of experiential learning, provided that the activities are carefully conceptualized over an adequate time period and involve different stakeholders, including persons with disabilities. The study was conducted through three different frameworks: theoretical, practical and creative design process in collaboration between a higher-education institution, a clinical center, and a civic non-profit organization of people with disabilities. The workshop outcomes surpass documenting student attitudes towards the topic and provide site mapping for accessibility improvement interventions, creative design solutions in improving the quality of public space and public outreach activities.

Purpose: Based on the analysis of existing solutions, biomechanics of human lower limbs and anticipated applications, results of considerations concerning the necessary number of degrees of freedom for the designed device supporting rehabilitation of lower extremities are presented. An analysis was carried out in order to determine the innovative kinematic structure of the device, ensuring sufficient mobility and functionality while minimizing the number of degrees of freedom. Methods: With the aid of appropriate formalised methods, for instance, type synthesis, a complete variety of solutions for leg joints were obtained in the form of basic and kinematic schemes, having the potential to find application in devices supporting lower limb rehabilitation. Results: A 3D model of ankle joint module was built in Autodesk Inventor System, then imported to Adams and assembled into a moving numerical model of a mechanism. Several conducted simulations resulted in finding the required maximum stroke of the cylinders. Conclusions: A comparison of the angular ranges of ankle joint and similar devices with the ones achieved by the designed device indicated a sufficient reserve allowing not only movements typical of gait, but approximately achieving the passive range of motion for the ankle joint.

The lack of empathy towards disability is a significant societal issue that hampers inclusivity and understanding. Many struggle to comprehend the daily challenges and experiences faced by people with disabilities, leading to ignorance, prejudice, and exclusion. However, empathy plays a pivotal role in addressing this problem and serves as the foundation for developing and creating better products, services, and environments. This article explores the potential of developing virtual reality (VR) applications to enhance students’ empathy towards individuals with disabilities. By increasing empathy levels, students are expected to gain significant qualifications in universal design (UD). The full application development process covers the most suitable head-mounted display (HMD) set. The implementation methodology using the Unity programming platform, the approach adopted for conducting classes using the developed VR application, and the deployment stage. Testing was successfully conducted on a student population, receiving positive user feedback. Through the integration of VR technology, the authors thoroughly describe how to address the empathy gap and equip students with essential skills for inclusive and accessible design. The findings presented in this study provide valuable guidance for educators and developers interested in harnessing VR’s potential to foster empathy and advance universal design practices. With the presented methodology and proposed application, the authors demonstrate the effectiveness of VR applications in elevating students’ empathy levels, consequently enhancing their qualifications in universal design.

Safety of navigation is especially challenging and critical when a ship approaches and manoeuvres in harbour areas. Improving the safety especially in the first and last phase of a voyage is crucial and requires measures addressing both the human and technical-technological elements including support systems that shall provide human operators with information relevant for decision making. The present situation is characterized by the introduction of numerous sophisticated technical and support systems often integrated with several components becoming increasingly complex. On the users end, changes are not that obvious and not that rapid as for technology. However, new approaches are under development or already in use. They are characterized by applying and adapting solutions from other transport modes. In this way, tasks and procedures on ships, that are highly safety-relevant and containing high portions of manoeuvring activities have been changed to high back-up procedures as in air planes. For port manoeuvres e.g. the system of pilot/co-pilot was introduced on ferries in a sense that one officer is operating and the other is monitoring and checking the safe performance. In cruise shipping, new structures replacing the traditional rank-based with a flexible system based on job functions. This system creates a kind of a safety net around the person conning the vessel. Each operation is cross checked before execution by one or two other persons. The first obvious consequence is higher costs due to doubling personnel. On the other hand there is also a need for a technology appropriately supporting the checking officer by enabling her or him to monitor what the conning officer is doing. “Fast-Time Manoeuvring Simulation Technology” (FTS) developed at the Institute for Innovative Ship Simulation and Maritime Systems (ISSIMS) has huge potential to fulfil this task. FTS calculates within one second of computing time up to 1000 seconds of real manoeuvring time by a very complex ship-dynamic simulation model for rudder, engine and thruster manoeuvres. It enables prompt prediction of all manoeuvres carried out by the conning officer for the observing officer, too. Predictions of path and motion status allow all officers to see whether the manoeuvring actions have at least the correct tendency or indicating the need for corrections. This new type of support is called Simulation-Augmented Manoeuvring Design and Monitoring (SAMMON) – it allows not only overlooking the next manoeuvring segment ahead but also for the following or even for series of manoeuvring segments. This technology has been used within two research projects: COSINUS (Co-operative Ship Operation in Integrated Maritime Traffic Systems) set out for implementing FTS into integrated ship bridges and to also communicate the manoeuvre plans and display it to VTS centres. Within the European project MUNIN (Maritime Unmanned Navigation through Intelligence in Networks) this technology has been used to investigate if it is possible to steer autonomous ships, in case it would be necessary.

Firstly, some properties of the system are studied such as equilibrium points and their stability, Lyapunov exponents and Kaplan-Yorke dimension. Also, we study the new jerk system dynamics using numerical simulations and analyses, including phase portraits, Lyapunouv exponent spectrum, bifurcation diagram and Poincaré map, 0-1 test. Next, we exhibit that the new 3-D chaotic modified WINDMI jerk system has multistability with coexisting chaotic attractors. Moreover, we design an electronic circuit using MultiSim 14.1 for real implementation of the modified WINDMI chaotic jerk system. Finally, we design an active synchronization scheme for the complete synchronization of the modified WINDMI chaotic jerk systems via backstepping control.

The paper deals with the inverse simulation problem of aircraft general motion. The aircraft is constrained to follow a specified 3D trajectory (two program constraints), and two other demands, are imposed on airframe attitude with respect to the trajectory and on flying speed. The guidelines for effective modelling of aircraft prescribed trajectory flight are discussed, and a method for computing time histories of state variables and program control (that ensures the programmed motion realization) is developed. Some results of numerical simulations are reported.
Praca dotyczy zagadnienia symulacji odwrotnej ruchu samolotu. Żąda się, by samolot wykonywał lot po zadanej trajektorii przestrzennej (dwa więzy programowe) a dodatkowymi wymaganiami są narzucone zmiany konfiguracji płatowca względem trajektorii oraz prędkości lotu. Dyskutuje się sposób modelowania tak określonego ruchu programowego oraz przedstawia metodę wyznaczania przebiegów w czasie zmiennych stanu tego ruchu oraz wymaganego sterowania samolotem. Zamieszcza się wyniki symulacji numerycznych.

FluidSIM 4 is comprehensive software for creation, simulation, instruction and study of electro-pneumatic, electro-hydraulic and digital circuits.

Workstations, CPU etc are in a period of transition, moving from a relatively slow network links and data oriented services to a high set fibre optic services and more diverse services. As such many of the hard and soft real time will not only demand high bandwidth but also a predictable and guarantee Quality of Service (QoS) along side ,which is not offered in a best effort network (BE). The provision and terms of (QoS) to real-time applications is a key issue in promising broadband packet switched networks and network of other sorts. Applications such as voice and video typically require QoS guarantees in terms of end-to-end data transfer delays. Supporting the diverse and of course, heterogeneous delay requirements of applications with widely varying characteristics requires packet scheduling schemes more sophisticated than First-In-First-Out (FIFO) at each switch in the network(2) are one of most accepted examples of such scheduling schemes. This points to the convincing need for a QoS, which apportion a high network utilization to be realized.In this paper, we focus on the EDF scheduling scheme, since it is known to provide the optimal delay performance (2), in the deterministic environment, and can for this reason be expected to perform well in the real time setting as well. The large amount of bandwidth as promised by the future network also offer the integration of real time applications, hard or soft.

Local wind conditions can vary strongly depending on the landmark and vegetation, as well as on the skyline of the buildings in an urban surrounding. Weather, season and time of day influence the yield of electric power. In order to promote the use of small wind turbines as an alternative to photovoltaic power generation, design optimization for location-optimized small wind turbines was carried out. In this work, we want to concentrate on vertical axis wind turbines. Experimental studies, as well as numerical simulations, have been conducted. On the one hand, bionically optimized core structures will be integrated and implemented in the hybrid material of the turbine blades. Several optimization attempts have been examined for single blades. Detailed simulative investigations with large eddy simulations improve the aerodynamic behaviour of the new rotor design. Finally, based on the results of the studies and investigations, a new rotor will be manufactured and tested experimentally in the wind tunnel. A comparison with the reference system from the first part of the paper shows the improvements and effectiveness of the measures and processes investigated.

This paper presents issues related to the process of designing a 30-feet container to be used as a mobile laboratory for collecting the environmental samples and identification of biological threats. Tactical and technical assumptions for the container, taking into account the requirements of the transport and movement of the army at long distances and in the difficult areas by means of transport characterized by increased traction properties, made the starting point. A possible way of relocation on the land roads using commonly available and military means of transport, possibilities of loading and unloading using the autonomic system and automatic levelling system are described. It describes the process of creating the MES model of the supporting structure and assumptions taken for that purpose. The basic assumption included invariability of shape, geometry and dimensions of a container compared to containers recognized in the world as the standard ones. Some results of numerical calculations carried out at two stages are presented. At the first stage, the issues on the own values were solved. Frequencies of own vibrations and associated forms of vibrations were identified. At the second stage, forced container vibrations were analysed. Resistance calculations were performed for the supporting structure of the container in the aspect of evaluation of the strain condition of the whole structure, as well as its components for assumed load variants. A variability of resistance calculations takes into account such cases as the influence of the under-container trailer riding on the uneven ground, loading and unloading a container from a trailer using autonomous system, diversity of loads on the supports resulting from the change of the ground density under the supports. A preliminary analysis of container transport possibilities and transport unit traction properties have been also carried out.

Nowadays computer simulations have been shown to be powerful tools to understand the performance of systems where we have mathematical models that can capture the physics of the problem. In this paper we attempt to simulate the behavior of the particles that move inside a large- scale mine mill, specifically through the grates and the discharge ducts of the material, when small changes are made in the geometry of the grates. Basically, the continuity, energy and momentum conservation equations are the ones that can solve the behavior of the material in that zone. The discrete element method is used to carry out the simulation, under the hypothesis that the restitution coefficient can substitute for the presence of the fluid inside the mill, and that by changing the angle of inclination of the grate slots the performance can improve the classification that they make and in the total discharge flow. A corollary of this study is that the pulp-lifters have a greater impact than the grates in improving the discharge flow. It was possible to quantify phenomena like flow-back and carry-over, effects that are not evaluable experimentally, in this way showing the usefulness of this simulation. The application of the DOE method has allowed to back up statistically the results and indicate that the slot angle increases the mill’s outlet flow.

The mechanical interface has the characteristics of low shock and vibration, and is emphasized in the aerospace and ocean engineering fields. In this paper, a mechanical interface based on coupled cylindrical cam mechanisms is designed. It can achieve the expected functions, but there exist faults in some times. The fault modes and causes of the interface are firstly analyzed. Then a design approach based on Monte Carlo simulation is presented for analyzing and optimizing its reliability. According to the fault modes, the performance functions of the interface are established for obtaining the optimal scheme. A case is given to illustrate the proposed method. The simulation results and the prototype experiments prove that the optimization scheme effectively improves the reliability of the interface, and has better performance than the original one.

W pracy przedstawiono dwa aktualnie najpopularniejsze sposoby modelowania i symulacji procesów, które są przydatne w projektowaniu maszyn i urządzeń. Modelowanie fizyczne, matematyczne, a w ich następstwie rozwiązanie numeryczne opracowanych równań ruchu wiąże się z doborem odpowiedniego narzędzia numerycznego (programu komputerowego). W artykule przedstawiono dwa przykłady rozwiązania problemów występujących podczas projektowania maszyn i urządzeń, w oparciu o zastosowanie programu wykorzystującego Metodę Elementu Skończonego oraz programu Matlab, który to jest językiem programowania wysokiego poziomu. Modelowanie i symulacje wykonane w ramach artykułu zostały zastosowane do projektowania nowego urządzenia – hamulca hydraulicznego stosowanego przy rampach rozładunkowych dla samochodów dostawczych i ciężarowych.
The paper presents two currently most popular ways of modelling and simulation of processes, which are useful in the design of machines and equipment. Physical modelling, mathematical, and then in their numerical solution developed equations of motion associated with the selection of a suitable tool numerical (computer program). The article presents two examples of solutions to the problems encountered during the design of machines and devices, based on the application program using Finite Element Method and Matlab, which is a high level programming language. Modelling and simulations within the article have been applied to the design of a new device - hydraulic brake applied when unloading ramps for cars and trucks.

In the paper a numerical comparative analysis of stresses in a steel die compressed by a ring during the extrusion process was presented. In the research, three design solutions of the die were used. The solutions vary depending on the quotient of the wall thickness of the die insert and the wall thickness of the compression ring while maintaining a constant tool diameter. The stresses occurring in the areas of the ring and the die were calculated depending on the design version of the tool and the pressure value. The analysis was carried out for the quotients of the die wall thickness to the ring wall thickness of 0.57, 1 and 1.75 and three press-in values of 0.004, 0.008 and 0.016 mm. The conducted research allowed determining the impact of the die design and assembly interference on the load bearing capacity. It was discovered that the use of a die insert with a smaller thickness com-pared to the thickness of the compression ring was the most advantageous from the point of view of the circumferential stresses.

Ammunition fired from large calibre gun chambers may experience accelerations in the regions of 150,000 m s-2 and as a result are subjected to considerable force during the process of set back. During firing some of the energy may be transferred to the filling and any defects present in the shell filling can lead to local hotspots which may result in premature ignition of the warhead. A potential source of defects is the application of excessive heat to the ammunition either by storage in a hot environment or accidentally by leaving the ammunition in a hot gun scenario in the chamber of the gun. A hot gun scenario can be defined as arising after 50 rounds or more have been fired in a four hour period. In this scenario the filling may easily exceed the qualification temperature with two possible accidents occurring. Cook-off of the filling can result in spontaneous firing of the round or, when correctly initiated, the round may premature in the gun barrel both of which may have catastrophic results. Currently there is no standard test to evaluate the behaviour of composition B (60% RDX: 40% TNT) filled ammunition subjected to a hot gun scenario. Because of its low melting point 80 °C the liquid TNT can separate from the RDX increasing its sensitivity and increasing the probability of an in bore premature when fired. This paper describes the design and operation of a small scale simulator for set back forces and its use to investigate the conditions under which composition B fillings, subjected to a hot gun scenario, could initiate. Samples of composition B were subjected to thermal treatments to mimic hot gun conditions and then subjected to simulated set back conditions and the level of impact energy required for initiation determined. This was compared with the level for untreated samples and a possible evaluation of current hot gun procedures undertaken. The indications are that the process can be cost effective in simulating set back induced premature ignitions.

In this paper we describe the subsequent steps of the process of extraction and preconditioning of natural gas. This paper discusses issues of the system design and its modeling. The choice of process equipment is presented. The paper presents the derivation of mathematical model of the process and the results of simulation are presented. At the end of the paper some conclusions are presented.

The proposed chaotic system consists of only two quadratic nonlinearities and the system possesses no critical points. The paper presents selected results of research on the design of artificial neural networks and training them using the electrical power system development model (EPS or EP system) based on IEEE RTS 96 test data, i.a. creation of training and test files, development of architecture of the artificial neural network, selection of parameters of the network, selection of appropriate training and testing method, etc. As a result of the development and training an ANN, the following EP system development models were obtained, which were examined for sensitivity to changes of the number of hidden layers, number of neurons in a layer, activation function, training method, etc. Subsequently, simulation models for studying fitness of the obtained models to the real systems. Interesting results were obtained, e.g. the method of the neural modelling of the system, the optimal architecture of the ANN that is a model of the system, possibilities and directions to improve a neural model of the system, etc.

A new 4-D dynamical system with hyperchaos is reported in this work. It is shown that the proposed nonlinear dynamical system with hyperchaos has no equilibrium point. Hence, the new dynamical system exhibits hidden hyperchaotic attractor. An in-depth dynamic analysis of the new hyperchaotic system is carried out with bifurcation transition diagrams, multistability analysis, period-doubling bubbles and offset boosting analysis. Using Integral Sliding Mode Control (ISMC), global hyperchaos synchronization results of the new hyperchaotic system are described in detail. Furthermore, an electronic circuit realization of the new hyperchaotic system has been simulated in MultiSim software version 13.0 and the results of which are in good agreement with the numerical simulations using MATLAB.

This article describes the development of a flight simulator module within the ADEMAO aircraft design framework to investigate the effects of novel airframe and propulsion technologies on new generations of aircraft. Methods used to develop and integrate the fight simulator into the overall design framework are described. The simulator is validated based on existing data from the Convair CV-880M and is then used to analyze an example case of a conceptual medium-range aircraft with advanced airframe technologies designed in the Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Aviation research cluster at the Institute of Aircraft Design and Lightweight Structures at the Technische Universität Braunschweig. Results show the deficiencies of the medium-range aircraft in short-period pitch and Dutch roll performance, and recommendations for modifications to the conceptual medium-range aircraft are drafted.

Opis:
Designers are facing the principal problems of effective decision making at the initial design stage of product development, which ultimately contribute to profit loss, low quality and increased time to launch the product onto the market. It requires a lot of knowledge and experience. Tools are required to analyze and ensure that crucial decisions have strong foundation before implementation. Discrete event simulation provides such a tool and has got potential to assist in decision making before final implementation. This research work aims measuring the benefits of transformation to lean product development (LPD) via simulation. Simulink-MATLAB tool was used for this purpose. The whole work is limited to design and cost estimation cells of a manufacturing company and consists of two phases. The first phase deals with the assessment of current working model of design and cost estimation cells. The areas for improvements were recognized at this phase. The proposed model for transformation to LPD was developed in the second phase. Four lean enablers namely product values, knowledge-based engineering, set-based concurrent engineering and poke-yoke were incorporated to further enhance the operation of the proposed model. W prezentowanym artykule przedstawiono opis zdyskretyzowanego modelu obliczeniowego i przebieg obliczeń konstrukcji związanych z projektem agregatu doprawiającego nowej generacji, do jednoczesnej uprawy roli i siewu nasion siewnikiem uniwersalnym. Konstrukcją opracowano wykorzystując system komputerowy CAD-3D, którego zastosowanie pozwoliło na budowę wirtualnych modeli bryłowych maszyny. Obliczenia wytrzymałościowe przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem systemu komputerowego grupy " high rangę ". Wyniki symulacji i obliczeń komputerowych posłużyły do doboru optymalnych kształtów i materiałów wykorzystanych do budowy prototypu agregatu.
In the presented paper there is presented description of discredited calculation model and course of calculations of design connected with project of secondaty tillage set of new generation for simultaneous soil tillage and sowing with the use of universal drill. The design was elaborated with the use ofcomputer system CAD-3D that allowed to build virtual solid models of machine. Strength calculations were carried out with the use of computer system of the "high range" group. The results of simulation and computer calculations served for the choice of optimal shapes and materials to build prototype of the machine.

Estymacja parametrów modelu na podstawie odpowiedzi układu na wymuszenie nazywana jest identyfikacją. W referacie omówiono proces identyfikacji oraz możliwości jego realizacji w odniesieniu do wiropłatów. Zwrócono uwagę na konieczność oceny wiarygodności uproszczeń nieliniowych, sprzężonych modeli ruchu wiropłatów, stosowanych często dla efektywnego estymowania parametrów modelu. Omówiono metody identyfikacji w dziedzinie czasu: metodę najmniejszych kwadratów wraz z jej wybranymi odmianami oraz filtrację Kalmana i jej rozszerzenia. Jako przykład przedstawiono metodę identyfikacji parametrów modelu śmigłowca bezzałogowego o napędzie elektrycznym T-Rex 600. Identyfikację przeprowadzono dla zawisu i obrotu wokół osi pionowej z różnymi prędkościami kątowymi. Identyfikowano liniowy model stacjonarny w dziedzinie częstotliwości.
Estimation of model parameters based on system response to input function is called identification. In the paper the identification process and the possibility of its implementation in relation to rotorcrafts are discussed. Also the need to assess the credibility of simplification of nonlinear, coupled models describing rotorcraft dynamic, which are frequently used for estimating the effective model parameters, is highlighted. Selected time domain methods of identification such as least squares method together with its selected varieties and Kalman filtering with its extensions are described. The electric T-Rex 600 unmanned helicopter model is chosen as an exemplary rotorcraft object, which model parameters are identified. The identification is carried out for hovering and rotation around a vertical axis with different angular velocities. Stationary linear model of T-Rex 600 is identified in the frequency domain.

The paper is focused on creating a thermal model which provides information about the thermal conditions in the semiconductor devices. Increasing the current density and pressure on prices make the optimization of thermal systems an important part in the design process. Simulation analysis has become with development of computer technology an excellent equipment to achieve it. In creating the model, we take account of material and geometric parameters of bonded chips. By the simulation we obtain the necessary information about the components and thermal stresses, these results can be applied in the device design procedure and technology of production. Resistance to bonded diodes is determined by chip parameters and bonding parameters such as the number of bundles, their spacing, and material. Resistance in practice is determined by experimentally measuring IFSM, a peak permeable, unrepeatable current. Also, in the work we analysed voltage-current VA characteristics of power diodes such as threshold voltage, also the closing voltage we tested functionality and we observe changes in the behaviour of the component and, last but not least, the characteristics of thermal resistance and thermal impedance that served as elements for the construction of an equivalent model. In the next part of the paper, in the context of the works, the methods of bindings of PCB components are currently being extended and used in current technological processes and we also concentrate on the dimensional parameters of the modules used to create an equivalent electrical circuit. The presented assembled simplified model respects the chip size, number of bonding wires, and their layout on the chip. For the concept of nine bonds, we had two types of placement from a variety of bonds, so we also respected this factor in the design of the model. As an example, there is a diode module investigated (SKEE SEMIPACK® 2, 1600V/174A).

Since the beginning of the 21st century floating buildings have been growing in popularity in Poland. According to market research and quantitative studies, the majority of operative Polish floating buildings serve for commercial purposes, such as short-term rentals, vacation houses and floating marinas. Simultaneously, despite the increasing demand, the development of floating buildings in Poland is limited by the inconsistent legislation, government policy and, most importantly, natural conditions of Polish inland waters. The most attractive sites for floating architecture are the semi-natural lakeshores and riverbanks. At the same time, low water levels and poor maintenance of many Polish basins require special architectural and engineering solutions. The article presents our experience with meeting the market’s demand for small cost-effective floating commercial buildings despite the local shortcomings of inland waters on the example of the floating apartment built in 2019 on the Roś Lake in Pisz, Poland. The presented building was intended as a water-based extension of the existing hotel on land. It was designed as a “modern barn” with all-glazed gable wall allowing for a spectacular view to the lake. With a 50 sqm footprint, the one-story house with a mezzanine has a small draft of 33 cm and meets the stability criteria defined for inland waters. The presented case study shows that integrating the naval architecture theory, Building Information Modeling simulation along with cutting-edge construction techniques such as Scottsdale Construction System (SCS) and polyurethane spray insulation, can bring significant progress into the development of the floating buildings market in Poland.

In this work, we report a new chaotic population biology system with one prey and two predators. Our new chaotic population model is derived by introducing two nonlinear interaction terms between the prey and predator-2 to the Samardzija-Greller population biology system (1988). We show that the new chaotic population biology system has a greater value of Maximal Lyapunov Exponent (MLE) than the Maximal Lyapunov Exponent (MLE) of the Samardzija-Greller population biology system (1988). We carry out a detailed bifurcation analysis of the new chaotic population biology system with one prey and two predators. We also show that the new chaotic population biology model exhibits multistability with coexisting chaotic attractors. Next, we use the integral sliding mode control (ISMC) for the complete synchronization of the new chaotic population biology system with itself, taken as the master and slave chaotic population biology systems. Finally, for practical use of the new chaotic population biology system, we design an electronic circuit design using Multisim (Version 14.0).

The purposes of this study were to investigate the impact of proportions of cast iron scrap, steel scrap, carbon and ferro silicon on hardness and the quality of cast iron and to obtain an appropriate proportion of the four components in iron casting process using a mixture experimental design, analysis of variance and response surface methodology coupled with desirability function. Monte Carlo simulation was used to demonstrate the impacts of different proportions of the four components by varying the proportions of components within ±5% of the four components. Microstructures of the cast iron sample obtained from a company and the cast iron samples casted with the appropriate proportions of the four components were examined to see the differences of size and spacing of pearlite particle. The results showed that linear mixture components were statistically significant implying a high proportion of total variability for hardness of the cast iron samples explained by the casting mixtures of raw materials. The graphite of the sample casted from the appropriate proportion has shorter length and more uniform distribution than that from the company. When varying percentages of the four components within ±5% of the appropriate proportion, simulated hardness values were in the range of 237 to 256 HB.

Quantum computing and circuits are of growing interest and so is reversible logic as it plays an important role in the synthesis of quantum circuits. Moreover, reversible logic provides an alternative to classical computing machines, that may overcome many of the power dissipation problems in the near future. Some ripple-carry adders based on a do-spy-undo structure have been designed and tested reversibly. This paper presents a brief overview of the performances obtained with such chips processed in standard 0.35 um CMOS technology and used in true reversible calculation (computations are performed forwards and backwards such that addition and subtraction are made reversibly with the same chip). Adiabatic signals used are known to allow the signal energy stored on the various capacitances of the circuit to be redistributed rather than being dissipated as heat while allowing to avoid calculation errors introduced by the use of conventional rectangular pulses. Through the example of both simulations and experimental results, this paper aims at providing a base of knowledge and knowhow in physical implementation of reversible circuits.

Based on the one-dimensional quasi-exact physical and mathematical modelling of a composite (steel-concrete) bridge/track structure/high-speed train system (BTT), developed in Part 2, advanced computer algorithms for the BTT numerical modelling and simulation as well as a computer programme to simulate vertical vibrations of BTT systems are developed. The exemplary bridge under numerical quasi-static and dynamic analysis, designed according to Polish standards, has a 15.00 m span length and belongs to the SCB series-of-types developed in Part 1. The bridge is loaded by a German ICE-3 high-speed train moving at the resonant and maximum operating speeds. A continuously welded ballasted track structure adapted to high operating velocities is applied. The output quantities include: time-histories of the vertical deflection of the main beams at the midspan, time-histories of the longitudinal normal stress in the bottom fibres of the main beams at the midspan, time-histories of the vertical acceleration of the bridge deck at the midspan, time-histories of the vertical accelerations of the suspension pivots in car-bodies, time-histories of the dynamic pressures of the wheel sets of moving rail-vehicles. The design quantities, understood as the extreme values of the output quantities, are used to verify the design conditions. The basic random factor, i.e. vertical track irregularities of the track, is taken into consideration. Basic statistics of the design quantities treated as random variables are calculated and taken into account in the design conditions.

In this work, we modify the dynamics of 3-D four-wing Li chaotic system (Li et al. 2015) by introducing a feedback controller and obtain a new 4-D hyperchaotic four-wing system with complex properties. We show that the new hyperchaotic four-wing system have three saddle-foci balance points, which are unstable. We carry out a detailed bifurcation analysis for the new hyperchaotic four-wing system and show that the hyperchaotic four-wing system has multistability and coexisting attractors. Using integral sliding mode control, we derive new results for the master-slave synchronization of hyperchaotic four-wing systems. Finally, we design an electronic circuit using MultiSim for real implementation of the new hyperchaotic four-wing system.

Opis:
Aerodynamic drag plays an important role in high-speed trains, and how to reduce the aerodynamic drag is one of the most important research subjects related to modern railway systems. This paper investigates a design method for large-scale streamlined head cars of high-speed trains by adopting NURBS theory according to the outer surface characteristics of trains. This method first created the main control lines of the driver cab by inputting control point coordinates; then, auxiliary control lines were added to the main ones. Finally, the reticular region formed by the main control lines and auxiliary ones were filled. The head car was assembled with the driver cab and sightseeing car in a virtual environment. The numerical simulation of train flow field was completed through definition of geometric models, boundary conditions, and space discretization. The calculation results show that the aerodynamic drag of the high-speed train with large-scale streamlined head car decreases by approximately 49.3% within the 50-300 km/h speed range compared with that of the quasi-streamlined high-speed train. This study reveals that the high-speed train with large-scale streamlined head car could achieve the purpose of reducing running aerodynamic drag and saving energy, and aims to provide technical support for the subsequent process design and production control of high-speed train head cars.

Zaprezentowana praca obejmowała analizę możliwości zmiany technologii wykonywania wahacza samochodowego, przy jednoczesnej zmianie tworzywa. Zastosowanie wysokowytrzymałego żeliwa sferoidalnego pozwoliło na zmiany w konstrukcji elementu, dzięki czemu uzyskano ażurowy odlew o cienkich ściankach. Zaproponowane zmiany zmniejszyły masę elementu bez pogorszenia właściwości wytrzymałościowych konstrukcji.
The study presents an analysis of the possibilities to change the fabrication technology of a rocker for automotive applications, changing also the type of material used for this element. The application of high-strength ductile iron enabled this element to be redesigned, resulting finally in the production of a grille-type, thin-walled, casting. The proposed modifications reduced the weight of the element without any harm to its mechanical properties.

Przedstawiono efekty osiągnięte podczas opracowywania rozwiązań maszyn i urządzeń do drążenia wyrobisk korytarzowych, kompleksów maszynowych do węglowych ścian niskich oraz kombajnowych kompleksów szybowych.
The article presents, on the example of selected innovative and unusual machine solutions for mining industry, developed in Department of Mining, Dressing and Transport Machines, AGH University of Science and Technology Kraków, the possibilities of using advanced computer programs to support the design and modeling of these machines and the simulation tests of mining machines. The use of such programs as Autodesk Inventor, MES and DEM has been described, which were applied in the process of designing construction solutions for selected machines, their technology of work and simulation tests related to kinematics and their efficiency. The results achieved during the development of machine and device solutions for gallery excavation work, hard coal longwall complexes for thin seams and shaft shearer complex were presented.

The problem of designing a stabilizing feedback controller for an underactuated system is a challenging one since a nonlinear system is not stabilizable by a smooth static state feedback law. A necessary condition for the asymptotical stabilization of an underactuated vehicle to a single equilibrium is that its gravitational field has nonzero elements corresponding to unactuated dynamics. However, global asymptotical stability (GAS) cannot be guaranteed. In this paper, a robust proportional-integralderivative (PID) controller on actuated dynamics is proposed and unactuated dynamics are shown to be global exponentially bounded by the Sordalen lemma. This gives a necessary and sufficient condition to guarantee the global asymptotic stability (GAS) of the URV system. The proposed method is first adopted on a remotely-operated vehicle RRC ROV II designed by the Robotic Research Centre in the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Through the simulation using the ROV Design and Analysis toolbox (RDA) written at the NTU in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment, the RRC ROV II is robust against parameter perturbations.

The leakage of hazardous compounds in chemical industries has always been one of the factors threatening workers, plants, and the environment. Among them, butyl acrylate is one of the most harmful materials that are widely used in chemical plants. In the present study, a butyl acrylate tank located in a real tank farm in Kocaeli-Turkey was analyzed for the examination of emissions and trinitrotoluene (TNT) equivalent explosion model of the vapor cloud. Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres (ALOHA) program was used to define threat zones of butyl acrylate leakage based on different scenarios, such as a leakage from the tank without fire, burning as a jet fire, and also burning as a fireball during Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion (BLEVE). In addition, since the most important parameters that enhance the effects of explosion and the spread of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are wind speed, filling ratio of the tanks, and temperature, the interaction of these parameters on the threat zones and the highest threat zones of explosions were investigated using the Box-Behnken experimental design and one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), respectively. As butyl acrylate, one of the most dangerous chemicals for industrial facilities, and its explosion effects have not been studied so far, it can be safely mentioned that this paper representing the first study in the literature is highly original and novel.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki obliczeniowej analizy obrotu śmigłowca wokół osi pionowej w kierunku przeciwnym do kierunku obrotu wirnika nośnego. Odpowiada to warunkom, w których istnieje groźba wystąpienia zjawiska pierścienia wirowego na śmigle ogonowym (Loss of Tail Rotor Effectiveness). Trójwymiarową symulację tego manewru wykonano przy użyciu programu FLUENT.
This paper presents the results of computational analysis of the helicopter around the vertical axis in the direction opposite to the direction of the main rotor rotation. This corresponds to conditions in which there is danger of appearance on the phenomenon of vortex ring state on tail rotor (Tail Rotor Loss of Effectiveness). Three-dimensional simulation of this maneuver has been performed using FLUENT code.

The present study precisely conveys the methodology of developing a three-dimensional (3D) architectural model of a villa with its walk-through and displaying the model in virtual reality, which as a result, be used by the clients to spectate, customize and buy the real estate property. Additionally, the case study highlights the advancement in architecture, as certain specifications of each element of a 3D model can be viewed in a virtual environment. Virtual reality is a transpiring platform, and in addition to that, the real-estate sector shows its incorporation in designing, marketing, and selling projects. The teaching and learning process can be eased out by intervening it with technology that generates an enhanced visualization environment. These technologies, when used constructively, save time and energy and also hoard economic standards ensuing lucrative benefits.

The development of the best manufacturing technology for fasteners was the subject of this work. Physical and numerical simulations were used to evaluate various technological variants. Possibility of application of new generation bainitic steels was considered, as well. Improvement of exploitation properties was the objective of the optimization having in mind tool wear and manufacturing costs as constraints. Several fasteners were investigated but results for three parts, including Allen screw, screw anchors used to carry concrete plates are presented as a case study. Industrial trials were performed and confirmed correctness of the designed manufacturing technology.
Przedmiotem pracy była metodyka projektowania najlepszej technologii wytwarzania elementów złącznych. Różne warianty technologiczne były przedmiotem symulacji fizycznych i numerycznych. Rozważono również możliwość zastosowania nowych materiałów w postaci stali bainitycznych. Celem optymalizacji była poprawa własności eksploatacyjnych wyrobów natomiast zużycie narzędzi i koszty wytwarzania wprowadzono jako ograniczenia. Rozważono cały szereg elementów złącznych ale w pracy zamieszczono wyniki dla trzech wyrobów, a mianowicie śruby imbusowej, kotwy do betonu oraz niestandardowej śruby z kwadratową główką. Wykonane próby przemysłowe potwierdziły prawidłowość zaproponowanych technologii wytwarzania tych elementów.

Opisano proces projektowania technologii odlewniczej pozwalającej uzyskać odlew żeliwny tarczy hamulcowej przy wykorzystaniu narzędzi CAD i CAE. Do obliczeń projektowych poszczególnych układów wlewowych zastosowano wzory powszechnie dostępne w literaturze dotyczącej branży odlewniczej. Obliczenia projektowe, proces projektowania w oprogramowaniu CAD – SOLIDWORKS oraz symulacje numeryczne w oprogramowaniu MAGMASOFT wykonano dla czterech różnych technologii wykonania odlewu. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwoliła na dobranie najkorzystniejszej technologii odlewniczej dla odlewu tarczy hamulcowej. Wybrana technologia odznacza się najlepszą konstrukcją układu wlewowego zarówno pod względem kształtu, jak i jego zasilenia. Ponadto wybrana technologia charakteryzuje się wysokim uzyskiem spośród pozostałych technologii, co prowadzi do ograniczenia kosztów związanych z procesem odlewniczym detalu tarczy hamulcowej.
Describes the process of casting technology design that produces an iron casting brake disc using CAD and CAE tools. For design calculations of the individual filling and ventilating systems uses the formulas commonly available in the literature for the foundry industry. Design calculations, design CAD software – SOLIDWORKS and numeric simulations MAGMASOFT software made for four different technology. Analysis has allowed the selection of the best casting technology for cast iron brake disc. The selected technology is the best design of the casting system in terms of both shape and its powering. In addition, the selected technology is characterized by high yield out of other technologies, which leads to a reduction of the costs associated with the process of casting part – brake disc.

Riflemen’s trainers are efficiently applied for the training of the armed forces, police, and shooting sportsmen. However, the training quality directly depends on the perfection of trainers as well as on their functional facilities. One of them is the shooting possibility by using various weapons. The new modification of a practise range is created: it’s included three types of weapons imitators for 5.56 mm G-36 assault rifle, 7.62 mm FN MAG machine gun and, 84 mm CARL GUSTAF recoilless gun. The work presents the universal dynamical and mathematical models of the one way operation pneumatic drive for recoil imitation, results of its investigation and description of the new modification of laser range for riflemen.

In this paper a general scheme and designing challenges encountered during design of Nowacki’s shear device are presented. The novelty of the approach shown is combining 3D modelling of the whole experimental stand in Catia software with FEM simulations in Abaqus. Linking these two applications allow updating of the model effectively based on feedback from FEM analysis.

To optimize the dimensions of the boom, stick of the hydraulic excavator and select the suitable hydraulic bucket, stick, and boom cylinders, the designer must determine the joint reaction forces and driving forces. These forces always alter in an excavator's working cycle. They are conventionally calculated by mathematical method. This conventional method is complicated and challenging to determine the maximum reaction forces, which can break the stick and boom. This article builds a 3D model and simulates a working cycle of the hydraulic excavator to find the reaction force diagrams of boom and stick as well as driving forces of hydraulic cylinders by using computer software PTC Creo Parametric. Based on these results, the designer easily calculates the maximum tensions of the dimensions of boom and stick in a working cycle to optimize their dimensions as well as selects suitable hydraulic cylinders.
Określenie siły reakcji na przegub i siły napędowej jest warunkiem optymalizacji wymiarów wysięgnika, ramienia koparki hydraulicznej i dobrać odpowiednie hydrauliczne siłowniki łyżki, ramienia i wysięgnika. W cyklu roboczym koparki, siły te zawsze zmieniają się. Tradycyjne metody są zwykle skomplikowane i trudne do określenia maksymalnych sił reakcji, które mogą spowodować złamanie drążka i wysięgnika. W artykule zbudowano model 3D i symulowano cykl pracy koparki hydraulicznej w celu znalezienia wykresów sił reakcji wysięgnika i ramienia oraz sił napędowych cylindrów hydraulicznych za pomocą oprogramowania komputerowego PTC Creo Parametric. Na podstawie tych wyników, konstruktor w łatwy sposób oblicza maksymalne naprężenia wymiarów wysięgnika i ramienia w cyklu pracy, aby zoptymalizować ich wymiary, a także dobiera odpowiednie hydrauliczne cylindry.

In this work, we present new results for a two-scroll 4-D hyperchaotic system with a unique saddle point equilibrium at the origin. The bifurcation and multi-stability analysis for the new hyperchaotic system are discussed in detail. As a control application, we develop a feedback control based on integral sliding mode control (ISMC) for the complete synchronization of a pair of two-scroll hyperchaotic systems developed in this work. Numerical simulations using Matlab are provided to illustrate the hyperchaotic phase portraits, bifurcation diagrams and synchronization results. Finally, as an electronic application, we simulate the new hyperchaotic system using Multisim for real-world implementations.

W referacie przedstawiono metodykę efektywnej współpracy dwóch nowoczesnych środowisk symulacyjnych do opracowania i badania układów sterowania wiropłatów. Flightlab jest oprogramowaniem służącym do modelowania i symulacji wiropłatów. Oprogramowanie to pozwala na zbudowanie modelu dowolnego wiropłata. Cechą charakterystyczną tego środowiska jest możliwość budowy modeli o bardzo różnym poziomie szczegółowości. Flightlab pozwala również na przeprowadzenie bardzo szerokiej gamy obliczeń symulacyjnych. Oprogramowanie Flightlab posiada jednak pewne ograniczenia. Jednym z nich jest oprogramowanie CSGE służące do opracowania modelu układu sterowania, odbiegające od standardu nowoczesnych narzędzi budowy i badania modeli układów sterowania. W tej dziedzinie ogólnoświatowym standardem staje się oprogramowanie Simulink. Naturalną jest więc próba połączenia tych dwóch narzędzi i wykorzystania ich najlepszych cech. W referacie przedstawiono zalety obu systemów na przykładzie opracowania uproszczonego układu sterowania w środowisku Simulink dla modelu śmigłowca opracowanego w programie Flightlab oraz efektywnego połączenia tych dwóch narzędzi programistycznych.
The paper presents a methodology for effective cooperation between two advanced simulation environments to develop and test rotorcraft control systems. Flightlab software is dedicated to modeling and simulation of rotorcraft. This software allows you to build a model of any rotorcraft. A characteristic feature of this environment is the ability to build models with very different levels of detail. Flightlab also allows for an extremely wide range of simulation calculations. However, Flightlab software has some limitations. One is the software called CSGE which allows development of the control system. This software is not very user-friendly and differs from the standard of modern tools of development and testing of models of control systems. In this area Simulink software is becoming a global standard. So natural is an attempt to connect these two tools and use their best qualities. The paper presents the advantages of both systems on the example of developing a simplified control system in Simulink environment for the model helicopter developed in the Flightlab program and effective combination of these two tools.

This paper presents a study of the impact of body posture and the presence of functional and structural body changes on garment fit. 3D scanning on a sample of 50 male test subjects was performed. Body posture indicators were determined on 3D body models and a statistical analysis of the results obtained was performed. Test subjects from the sample were divided into three groups according to body posture types. Three body models with different body dimensions and different physiological spine curvature were selected and imported into a 2D/3D CAD system for computer-based garment simulation. 3D simulation of a men’s jacket in the closest garment size was performed on selected body models. Garment fit was analysed on every simulated model and based on the analysis performed, garment pattern elements and measurements where it is necessary to enable modifications were determined. The most complex part of the research refers to the development of a parametric computer-based garment model which will be able to adjust according to anthropometric body measurements and body shapes with a different physiological spine curvature. Relationships between targeted body measurements and their impact on modifications of pattern segments were investigated as a starting point for defining mathematical expressions according to which values of measurement changes on the garment pattern will be calculated. A parametric garment model pattern which enables adjustments according to different body sizes and body postures types was developed. Verification of the method developed was performed using computer-based 3D simulations on 3D body models with prominent problems of body posture.
W pracy zaprezentowano badania wpływu postawy ciała i występowania funkcjonalnych i strukturalnych zmian ciała na dopasowanie ubioru. Przeprowadzano skanowanie 3D próby składającej się z 50 męskich osobników. Określono indykatory postawy na modelach 3D i przeprowadzono statystyczną analizę. Uzyskane wyniki podzielono na trzy grupy biorąc pod uwagę typy postawy ciała. Uzyskano modele o różnych wymiarach i różnych fizjologicznych krzywiznach kręgosłupa i wprowadzono je w system 2D/3D CAD dla przeprowadzenia komputerowej symulacji ubrań. Przeprowadzono symulację 3D męskiej marynarki. Analizowano dopasowanie ubioru na każdym z symulowanych modeli i na tej podstawie określono elementy wzoru i wymiary. Określono również miejsca, które należy poddać modyfikacji. Najbardziej złożona część badań dotyczyła opracowania parametrycznego modelu ubioru, który umożliwiałby dostosowanie odpowiednie do antropometrycznych wymiarów ciała i różnych fizjologicznych krzywizn kręgosłupa. Opracowano parametryczny model ubioru, który umożliwia dostosowanie do różnych kształtów ciała i typów postawy. Weryfikacja opracowanej metody została przeprowadzona przy zastosowaniu symulacji komputerowej 3D.

Opis:
The article discusses about the design of a combined exhaust gas heat exchanger with muffler. The first stage deals with the calculation of the exhaust gas heat exchanger according to the required parameters. The next step addresses the structural design of the exhaust gas heat exchanger according to the parameters of the calculation. Subsequently creation a 3D model, which will be used for the simulation of flow of the working substance in the heat exchanger and heat transfer simulation of the media. The simulations are solved in a 3D simulation program COMSOL Multiphysics 5.0. Further solves the structural design of muffler, which will form a part of the exhaust gas heat exchanger. Subsequently execution of the measurements on the real model of the combined exhaust gas heat exchanger to verify the accuracy of calculations, simulations and structural designs.
W artykule omówiono projekt zintegrowanego wymiennika ciepła spalin wraz z tłumikiem. Pierwszy etap dotyczył obliczania wymiennika ciepła spalin w zależności od wymaganych parametrów. Następnym krokiem było stworzenie projektu konstrukcyjnego wymiennika ciepła spalin według parametrów z obliczeń. Następnie stworzono model 3D, który był wykorzystany do symulacji przepływu substancji roboczej w wymienniku ciepła oraz do symulacji transferu ciepła mediów. Symulacje są wykonywane w programie do symulacji 3D - COMSOL Multiphysics 5.0. Dalej wykonano projekt konstrukcyjny tłumika, tworzący całość z wymiennikiem ciepła spalin. Następnie wykonano pomiarów na rzeczywistym obiekcie zintegrowanego wymiennika ciepła spalin z tłumikiem, w celu sprawdzenia poprawności obliczeń, symulacji i projektu konstrukcyjnego.

Opis:
Growth of demand for containerized cargo shipping has put more ports into pressure to accommodate larger vessels. Considering the limitations on dimensions of navigation channels, this is not feasible unless aiming for significant capital dredging or alternatively creating high precision predictions of vessel motions subjected to environmental forcing and interaction with shallow and restricted waterway. NCOS ONLINE (Nonlinear Channel Optimisation Simulator) is a state of the art navigation support tool which combines DHI’s high level forecast of environmental conditions with mathematical model of ship motions to add an extra level of accuracy in predicting the under-keel clearance and vessel swept path to boost the efficiency of navigation and pilotage within restricted channels. NCOS Manoeuvring Module utilizes an autopilot scheme based on PID (Proportional / Integral / Derivative) controller and Line of Sight Algorithm to FORCE Technology’s SimFlex4 manoeuvring solver for prediction of manoeuvring ship swept path and response, which will effectively bring the accuracy of real time full bridge simulator to fast time operation support tool. In this paper, the result of mathematical model is validated against fullscale measurements of containership transits through Port of Auckland Navigation channel by comparing pilot commands, leeway drift and swept path through output of portable pilotage unit. According to the results the model is found promising to predict the behaviour of human pilots with precision required in operational use. Finally, the swept path and manoeuvring performance of a sample transit is assessed on different environmental conditions and tide stages to evaluate the safe transit windows in operation.

The paper presents an extension of interleave pipeline PRET architecture. The main emphasize is made on obtaining deterministic, time predicable data and a program memory system which cooperates with the pipeline processor. The idea is to pass control of all IO operations to a special unit called MACU (Memory Access Control Unit). Thread State Controller (TSC), Dynamic Interleave Controller (DIC) and MACU together with a pipeline processor are proposed, to deliver microarchitecture details, which deal with a number of hardware threads working in the system. The paper also discusses several arbitration policies in MACU and DIC. A few experiments are performed to show benefits of the proposed methodology.
Praca porusza tematykę przewidywalności czasowej systemów elektronicznych. Problem ten był obiektem badań różnych grup badaczy. Zdaniem autora największym osiągnięciem było przedstawienie architektury potokowej z przeplotem wątków sprzętowych. Główną cechą tego podejścia było usunięcie zjawiska hazardu danych i sterowania. Autor niniejszej pracy zwraca uwagę na kwestie wypracowania schematu zarządzania wielozadaniową architekturą przewidywalną czasowo oraz przewidywalnego czasowo systemu pamięci (pkt. nr 3). Pierwsza kwestia została rozwiązana dzięki zastosowaniu kontrolera kontekstu potoku (pkt. nr 4). Identyfikatory, pamięć stanów wątków (rys. 1), specjalne kolejki do przechowywania identyfikatorów (rys. nr 2) i danych (rys. nr 4) umożliwiły efektywne zarządzanie wątkami sprzętowymi. Zmiana kontekstu potoku (punkt nr 4., rys. 3 oraz 4) następuje, gdy wątek wykonuje rozkaz operacji z pamięcią (rys. nr 5). Dzięki temu podczas wykonywania operacji wejścia/wyjścia, inny wątek będzie mógł realizować swój program. Takie podejście pozwala na ukrycie detali związanych z dostępem do pamięci głównej (implementacja w module MACU) oraz zwiększenie wydajności systemu (pkt. nr 7.). Przedyskutowano także różne schematy arbitrażu przy wprowadzaniu wątków do potoku (algorytmy zaimplementowane w DIC) oraz dostępu do pamięci (algorytmy zaimplementowane w MACU) (pkt. nr 6). Wysunięte tezy potwierdzono wynikami eksperymentalnymi (pkt. nr 6).

Opis:
The paper presents issues of production processes design and improvement. In order to visualize the production system functioning and estimate its efficiency, a simulation model has been created, on which a simulation experiment was carried out. Due to many factors influencing the effectiveness of processes, it was suggested to use multi-criteria evaluation tools to choose the rational solution. Three criteria have been assumed, according to which particular improvement variants were evaluated. Also, criteria weights have been set according to the Saaty’s method, and particular solution variants have been assessed separately with respect to each criterion. On the basis of the presented course of action, the best solution has been selected from among the analysed options.
