Opis:
A one dimensional heat equation in a semi-infinite medium controlled through a heat source depending on the delayed heat flux at the extremum is studied. By reducing the problem to a delayed Volterra integral equation with a weakly singular kernel, we find conditions on the initial datum and on the source term of the equation to control the asymptotic behaviour of the mean temperatures.

The paper considers finite-dimensional dynami cal control systems described by second order semilinear stationary ordinary differential state equations with delay in control. Using a generalized open mapping theorem, sufficient conditions for constrained local controllability in a given time interval are formulated and proved. These conditions require verification of constrained global controllability of the associated linear first-order dynamical control system. It is generally assumed that the values of admissible controls are in a convex and closed cone with vertex at zero. Moreover, several remarks and comments on the existing results for controllability of semilinear dynamical control systems are also presented. Finally, a simple numerical example which illustrates theoretical considerations is also given. It should be pointed out that the results given in the paper extend for the case of semilinear second-order dynamical systems constrained controllability conditions, which were previously known only for linear second-order systems.

Opis:
The paper describes the procedure of modelling and optimization of the aeroelastic energy harvester from the point of view of their operation at very low flow velocities. Using analytical solutions of models of different device variants, the relationships between their efficiency and flow velocity were presented. By way of analytical considerations, the conditions for high performance operation of the device have been demonstrated, indicating at the same time the difficulty in maintaining it at low operation velocities. As a solution to the problem, the application of external delayed feedback control was proposed and its effectiveness was demonstrated.

The objective of this paper is to present a modified structure and a training algorithm of the recurrent Elman neural network which makes it possible to explicitly take into account the time-delay of the process and a Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm for such a network. In MPC the predicted output trajectory is repeatedly linearized on-line along the future input trajectory, which leads to a quadratic optimization problem, nonlinear optimization is not necessary. A strongly nonlinear benchmark process (a simulated neutralization reactor) is considered to show advantages of the modified Elman neural network and the discussed MPC algorithm. The modified neural model is more precise and has a lower number of parameters in comparison with the classical Elman structure. The discussed MPC algorithm with on-line linearization gives similar trajectories as MPC with nonlinear optimization repeated at each sampling instant.

Opis:
A simple robust cheap LQG control is considered for discrete-time systems with constant input delay. It is well known that the full loop transfer recovery (LTR) effect measured by error function ∆(z) can only be obtained for minimum-phase (MPH) systems without time-de-lay. Explicit analytical expressions for ∆(z) versus delay d are derived for both MPH and NMPH (nonminimum-phase) systems. Obviously, introducing delay deteriorates the LTR effect. In this context the ARMAX system as a simple example of noise-correlated system is examined. The robustness of LQG/LTR control is analyzed and compared with state prediction control whose robust stability is formulated via LMI. Also, the robustness with respect to uncertain time-delay is considered including the control systems which are unstable in open-loop. An analysis of LQG/LTR problem for noise-correlated systems, particularly for ARMAX system, is included and the case of proper systems is analyzed. Computer simulations of second-order systems with constant time-delay are given to illustrate the performance and recovery error for considered systems and controllers.

Opis:
The stochastic Hopf bifurcation of multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems with time-delayed feedback control subject to Gaussian white noise excitations is studied. First, the time-delayed feedback control forces are approximately expressed in terms of the system state variables without time delay, and the system is converted into anordinary quasi-integrable Hamiltonian system. The averaged It�o stochastic differential equations are derived by using the stochastic averaging method for quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems. Then, an expression for the average bifurcation parameter of the averaged system is obtained approximately, and a criterion for determining the stochastic Hopf bifurcation caused by the time-delayed feedback control forces in the original system as the value of the average bifurcation parameter changing is proposed. An example is worked out in detail to illustrate the above criterion and its validity, and to show the effect of the time delay in the feedback control on the stochastic Hopf bifurcation of the system.
W pracy zajęto się problemem stochastycznej bifurkacji Hopfa quasi-całkowalnych układów Hamiltonowskich o wielu stopniach swobody poddanych wymuszeniu białym szumem z układem sterowania opartym na pętli sprzężenia zwrotnego z opóźnie- niem. Najpierw znaleziono przybliżone wyrażenia na siły sterujące w funkcji zmiennych stanu układu bez opóźnienia, a następnie przetransformowano go postaci quasi- całkowalnej, Hamiltonowskiej. Wyprowadzono stochastyczne równania różniczkowe It^o za pomocą metody uśredniania układów quasi-całkowalnych. Znaleziono przybliżoną postać wyrażenia na parametr bifurkacyjny uśrednionego układu i zaproponowano kryterium stwierdzające obecność stochastycznej bifurkacji Hopfa wywołanej siłami sterującymi z opóźnieniem na podstawie wartości zmiany tego parametru. Opracowa- no szczegółowo przykład do ilustracji działania tego kryterium i zakresu jego stosowalności oraz do prezentacji wpływu opóźnienia w pętli sterownia na stochastyczną bifurkację Hopfa badanego układu.

Opis:
An active inerter-based suspension with acceleration feedback control is proposed in this paper, the time delay generated in the controllers and actuators is considered, which constitutes the time-delayed active inerter-based (TDA-IB) suspension. The dynamic equation of the TDA-IB suspension is established and is a neutral type of delay differential equation (NDDE) in which the time delay exists in the highestorder derivative. The stability analysis is conducted by calculating the number of unstable characteristic roots based on the definite integral stability method, the stable and unstable regions are determined. The effect of time delay and feedback gain on the dynamic performance of the TDA-IB suspension under harmonic, random, and shock excitations is studied in detail and compared with the parallel-connected inerterbased (PC-IB) and traditional suspensions. The results show that the TDA-IB suspension is asymptotically stable for smaller feedback gain and time delay, through increasing the feedback gain, the stable regions shrink, and a smaller time delay could cause the system to become unstable. Furthermore, the time delay could regulate the resonance peak around the unsprung mass natural frequency and generate multiple high-frequency resonance peaks. If the time delay is chosen appropriately and falls into the stable range, the TDA-IB suspension could improve the dynamic performance for the suspension stroke and dynamic tire load while having a deterioration for the vehicle body acceleration compared with the PC-IB and traditional suspensions.

For continuous, uncertain, linear quadratic control system with delayed input, we consider a min-max control policy in which the elements of feedback are present. The feedback is introduced into control optimization by allowing a control to be corrected at a given set of correction points from the control interval. This helps to overcome the feasibility difficulties that arise with standard min-max techniques. We show that construction of the optimal policy involves a sequence of min-max optimizations formulated as dynamic programs that do not yield simple analytical solutions. That is why the paper is mainly focused on construction and justification of suboptimal control policy that can be effectively implemented. Simulated examples demonstrate the proposed approach.

Using the notation, theorems and methods used for deterministic controllability problems for linear dynamic systems with delays in control as well as necessary and sufficient conditions for various kinds of stochastic relative controllability in a given time interval are formulated and proved. It will be proved that, under suitable assumptions, relative controllability of an associated deterministic linear dynamic system is equivalent to stochastic relative exact controllability and stochastic relative approximate controllability of the original linear stochastic dynamic system. As a special case, relative stochastic controllability of dynamic systems with a single point delay is also considered. Some remarks and comments on the existing results for stochastic controllability of linear dynamic systems are also presented.

Opis:
An Active Queue Management (AQM) robust control strategy for Traffic Control Protocol (TCP) data transfer is proposed. To this purpose, the TCP behaviour is first approximated by a second–order model with delayed input obtained from the linearization of an efficient and commonly used nonlinear fluid–based model. The adopted feedback control structure uses a fractional– order PI controller. To ensure the desired robustness, the parameter regions where such a controller guarantees a given modulus margin (inverse of the H1 norm of the sensitivity function) are derived. An example commonly used in the literature is worked out to show that the suggested graphically–based design technique is simple to apply while it limits the effects of disturbances and of the unmodelled dynamics.

The paper considers a problem of optimal control of a linear system with the parameters dependent on the states of a Markov chain. The cost criterion is quadratic in the controls and states of the system. The criterion parameters also depend on the states of the Markov chain. Two models of observation of the Markov chain are adopted - delay for one step and no delay. It is shown that under appopriate mean square detectability and stabilizability conditions the infinite horizon optimal control problem for the general case of Markovian jump linear quadratic systems has a unigue mean square stabilizing solution. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given to determine if a system is mean square stabilizable.

Haptic guidance can improve control accuracy in bilateral teleoperation. With haptic sensing, the human operator feels that he grabs the robot on the remote side. There are results on the stability and transparency analysis of teleoperation without haptic guidance, and the analysis of teleoperation with haptic feedback is only for linear and zero time-delay systems. In this paper, we consider more general cases: the bilateral teleoperation systems have time-varying communication delays, the whole systems are nonlinear, and they have force feedback. By using the admittance human operator model, we propose a new control scheme with the interaction passivity of the teleoperator. The stability and transparency of the master-slave system are proven with the Lyapunov–Krasovskii method. Numerical simulations illustrate the efficiency of the proposed control methods.

Niniejsze opracowanie poświęcone jest analizie aktualnego stanu badań oraz perspektywom rozwoju teorii sterowania w uczelniach i instytutach naukowych. Celem opracowania jest podjecie próby wytyczenia głównych kierunków działalności naukowo-badawczej oraz ich koordynacja. Teoria sterowania jest uprawiana w kilkunastu ośrodkach krajowych, w większości w wyższych uczelniach technicznych oraz w instytutach badawczych Polskiej Akademii Nauk. W artykule rozpatrywane są zarówno skończenie wymiarowe układy dynamiczne liniowe ciągłe i dyskretne jak i nieliniowe układy dynamiczne. W przypadku układów liniowych wyróżnia się miedzy innymi układy osobliwe oraz w przypadku układów dyskretnych układy o wielu zmiennych niezależnych. Przedstawione są także układy nieskończenie-wymiarowe opisane równaniami różniczkowymi cząstkowymi oraz skończenie wymiarowe układy dynamiczne z różnego typu opóźnieniami zarówno w stanie, jak i w sterowaniu.
The presented paper is devoted to analysis of research in the domain of control theory and development perspectives of control theory in technical high schools and research institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The main research directions in mathematical control theory are pointed out. It should be stressed that control theory is developed in several universities and institutes. The paper contains many remarks and comments concerning control theory of finite-dimensional dynamical systems both for linear continuous-time and discrete-time as well as nonlinear dynamical systems. In the case of linear systems there are distinguished, among others, singular systems and in the case of discrete-time systems - systems with many independent variables. Moreover, infinite-dimensional dynamical systems and systems with different types of delays in the state variables and in the admissible controls are also considered. There are also presented in the paper: linear finite-dimensional dynamical systems, multidimensional systems and automatic control, distributed parameter dynamical systems, shape optimisation, dynamical systems with delays, special flying machines, nonlinear dynamical systems, multi-criterion optimisation.

Opis:
This paper investigates the event-based state estimation for discrete-time recurrent delayed semi-Markovian neural networks. An event-triggering protocol is introduced to find measurement output with a specific triggering condition so as to lower the burden of the data communication. A novel summation inequality is established for the existence of asymptotic stability of the estimation error system. The problem addressed here is to construct an H∞ state estimation that guarantees the asymptotic stability with the novel summation inequality, characterized by event-triggered transmission. By the Lyapunov functional technique, the explicit expressions for the gain are established. Finally, two examples are exploited numerically to illustrate the usefulness of the new methodology.

Opis:
This paper develops an innovative approach for designing non-parallel distributed fuzzy controllers for continuous-time non-linear systems under persistent perturbations. Non-linear systems are represented using Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy models. These non-PDC controllers guarantee bounded input bounded output stabilisation in closed-loop throughout the computation of generalised inescapable ellipsoids. These controllers are computed with linear matrix inequalities using fuzzy Lyapunov functions and integral delayed Lyapunov functions. LMI conditions developed in this paper provide non-PDC controllers with a minimum ⋆-norm (upper bound of the 1-norm) for the T–S fuzzy system under persistent perturbations. The results presented in this paper can be classified into two categories: local methods based on fuzzy Lyapunov functions with guaranteed bounds on the first derivatives of membership functions and global methods based on integral-delayed Lyapunov functions which are independent of the first derivatives of membership functions. The benefits of the proposed results are shown through some illustrative examples.
