Opis:
Introduction. The positive aspects of work of the underaged are perceived as including its economic value, positive role in the process of upbringing and socialization, and in the process of vocational training or economic education. However, on the other hand, attention is also paid to the negative consequences of work, such as threats to psychophysical and intellectual development, risk to health or even life, of the adolescents. Materials and method. The basis for this study was a survey conducted in a group of Polish adolescents aged 14–15 years. The study was conducted during 2016–2017 in a representative group of 5,468 schoolchildren from junior high schools, selected by the method of stratified sampling. The research material was collected using a questionnaire for the assessment of the phenomenon of economic activity among adolescents. Results. The results of the study showed that approximately 20% of Polish adolescents aged 14–15 performed paid work as hired labour, about 30% helped with running a family business (family farm, family business), and nearly 20% of respondents undertook independent economic activity. The majority of economically active adolescents are of the opinion that the work performed exerts a positive effect on their health. Evaluation of the work activities performed as dangerous, worse state of health of adolescents, and lower parameters of their physical development, exert the greatest effect on the perception of a given work as negatively affecting health. Negative evaluations of the effect of work on health also shape the perception of work as severe and experience of accident at work. Conclusions. These results may be used for the elaboration of practical recommendations in order to reduce negative effects, and enhance positive effects which work exerts on adolescents’ health.

Opis:
The article deals with analysis of the attitude to work as a basic category in sociology of work. The socialist attitude to work is expressed through: sense of responsibility and duty in relation to implemented economic tasks; socialist structure of work motivation; active participation in different forms of social-voluntary work in the place of work; collectivity; continuous striving for improvement of one’s own education and qualifications. The results of researches performed in 1967 and 1977 allowed to state that attitudes and behaviours of workers in relation to their work correspond, already to a large extent, to objective character of work and bear typically socialist traits. In the researches in question there were determined three groups of factors exerting an influence on promotion of the socialist attitude to work: 1. Factors related to personality — from among them of basic significance was political involvement of examined workers and performance of volunteer-unpaid functions in the work establishment as well as the level of professional qualifications. 2. Factors related to work environment — from among them the most important one is the real level of development of socialist democracy in the work establishment, next comes the manager’s personality and style of managing as well as mutual relations between people — members of one collective body. 3. Factors concerning work contents and from among them the most important appeared to be: interesting work, diversified, responsible and requiring high qualifications work.

Opis:
Introduction. Occupational burnout is a multifaceted phenomenon and a problem often encountered among medical personnel. An example of such a group are workers of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The aim of the present study was to make an attempt to assess the level of job burnout among professionally active employees of the EMS and to compare the different occupational groups (paramedics, nurses of the system, doctors of the system) according to four analyzed factors. Materials and methods. A cross-sectional study was performed using an on-line questionnaire. Four factors impacting the level of burnout were analyzed: 1) attitude to work; 2) workload; 3) contact with the patient; 4) attitude to stress). The minimum possible result on the scale is 36 points and the maximum – 252. Data were analysed by means of the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, the Spearman correlation, the Ramsey RESET test, the Chow test, VIF statistics. Results. The average score for occupational burnout was 131.0 points (SD ± 31.47). The tool’s reliability measured by means of Cronbach’s alpha was 0.910). Both nurses and doctors obtained higher results throughout the scale (βstand. 0.147 and 0.215). Significant differences were shown between the group working only in the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) teams and the other services (land EMS, emergency rooms, etc.) at the level of p < 0.000. Conclusions. EMS employees encounter varying degrees of threat by occupational burnout. Doctors working in the system are shown to have the highest level of burnout, while paramedics the lowest. Among all the jobs analyzed, the lowest level of occupational burnout has been demonstrated by employees of HEMS.

Opis:
Następnie omówiono główne czynniki kształtujące stosunek do pracy w socjalizmie i związane z tym możliwości tworzenia, doskonalenia i umacniania dyscypliny pracy. Podstawową rolę odgrywają socjalistyczne stosunki społeczne, jak również ulegające poprawie warunki i organizacja pracy, wychowanie i tzw. wychowanie dla pracy, szeroki udział pracowników w zarządzaniu produkcją, socjalistyczne współzawodnictwo pracy, tworzenie prawidłowo zorganizowanych zespołów pracy. W artykule przedstawiono ponadto liczne przykłady z praktyki gospodarki bułgarskiej potwierdzające powyższe zależności.
Along with change of the socio-economic form ation there is also changing man's attitude to work. Its new character in socialist conditions of production strictly connected with work discipline calls for a closer analysis. There was disovered a mutual correlation between them since the socialist attitude to work determines an objective basis for optimal work discipline while any improvement in this discipline leads to fuller consolidation of the socialist attitude to work. The author discusses next main factors shaping attitude to work in socialism and possibilities of promoting, improving, and consolidating work discipline connected with it. A fundamental role is played here by socialist social relations as well as improving conditions and organization of work, social education, and the so-called "education for work", wide participation of employees in production management, socialist work competition, setting up production management, socialist work competition, setting up properly organized work teams etc. More over, there are presented in the article numerous examples from the Bulgarian economic practice confirming the above relationships.

Opis:
The desire to secure jobs characterized with creative character of work and celling for a higher level of educational reflects a high level of needs and aspirations and represents a permanent feature in the system of values shaped by socio-economic conditions of our society. In this article the author discusses researches carried out among militiamen, which revealed that parents wish to secure for their children an educational background one level higher than the one possessed by them. A decisive majority of town militiamen value highly those professions which call for academic background while giving simultaneously their distinct preference to technical courses preparing engineers. Research findings also show that quite a big share of respondents would like the son to continue the profession of the father which testifies to a positive relation to the performed work. In this area there could be discovered clear differences in assessment of own work as provided by militiamen in comparison with results of other researches carried out in other professional environments.

Opis:
The author, presenting the attitude of women to work in the GDR, proves a hypothesis that work for women is more of a life need than a condition of existence. Comparing the attitude to work and to problems connected with it of women and men she finds confirmation for deep transformations which have been effected and are taking place in the GDR’s society. The second part of the article deals with the problem of the place held by the family life and duties ensuing from it in the life of women against the background of attitude to work. The author points out that majority of women in the German Democratic Republic place on the same level professional tasks and family duties. Since — as it was confirmed by studies — women perform less complex functions, their integration with the enterprise is slower, which exerts some impact on the analyzed participation of women in the rationalization movement, involvement with production problems, and interest in improvement of professional qualifications.

The international documents, especially Lisbon Strategy and Europe 2020 strategy, oblige Polish government to the implementation of the principles of the sustainable development in the employment policy. Analysis of Polish and European employment strategies are pointing that priority like: just, free from poverty, equal opportunities for women, men and young people on the labour market, economic activity of older people, protection of the environment or harmfulness of the work to the environment, proving that they are not effectively carried out in Poland. Employment policy is also ineffective, because the main strategies are not taking into account attitudes of Poles to the work, and values which are shaping this attitude. Return to values is extremely important for the implementation of sustainable development, because for this idea, values shape human and social reality, thus work reality.

Opis:
Background Comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation aims to restore pathophysiological and psychosocial consequences of myocardial infarction (MI). The aim of the study was to assess how exercise-only-based cardiac rehabilitation (ECR) influences the attitude to the therapy (ATT), to the aims in life and professional work (AAL) amongst men and women after MI. Material and Methods The study comprised 44 post-MI patients: 28 men and 16 women, mean age 58±10 years old, referred to ECR. Patients underwent 24 interval cycle ergometer trainings 3 times a week. At the beginning and after the training program (TP) each patient underwent exercise stress test (EST) and was scored to ATT and ALL based on the Psychological Effects of Rehabilitation Score Scale (PERSS) according to Tylka and Makowska. The analysis covered: 1) EST findings: maximal workload and test duration (min), 2) ATT and AAL based on PERSS, 3) resuming professional work. Results Exercise capacity improved significantly after TP. Attitude to the aims in life and professional work significantly increased in the whole group (4.4±2.8 vs. 5.1±2.4, p < 0.01) and separately in men (4.5±2.9 vs. 5.1±2.5, p < 0.05) and women (4.3±2.6 vs. 5.0±2.0, p < 0.05). Attitude to the therapy did not change significantly in the whole group (5.6±2.8 vs. 6.0±2.8) and in men (5.9±2.9 vs. 6.0±2.9), but increased significantly in women (5.0±2.5 vs. 6.1±2.7, p < 0.05). Professional work was resumed, averagely by 86.4% of all patients (85.7% men and 87.5% women). Conclusions Physical training beneficially influenced post-MI men’s and women’s attitude to the aims in life, professional work and attitude to the therapy in women. Med Pr. 2019;70(1):1–7

Opis:
The article aims to present the results of research on the use of standardised tools that measure the level of commitment and exposure to human rights of social workers and social work students. The research was based on the adaptation procedure of two separate scales – Human Rights Engagement in Social Work and Human Rights Exposure in Social Work – to Polish cultural background and linguistic environment. The first part discusses issues related to the importance of human rights in social work, up-to-date status human rights-based social work perspective and a literature review in this area. The research part presents the procedure and discusses the results of theoretical validity and reliability tests. The Cronbach alpha coefficient was obtained at the level of .877 and .845, which indicates a high level of internal compatibility. It was not possible to determine the nature of the regularities shaping the relationships between the variables, items of the scale In the case of the Human Rights Engagement in Social Work scale the exploratory factor analysis (Varimax rotation) made it possible to identify five factors explaining 51.9% of the variability. In the case of the Scale of Human Rights Engagement in Social Work, the exploratory factor analysis allowed for the identification of five factors explaining 58% of the variance of variables. In the case of Human Rights Exposure in Social Work, factor analysis made it possible to identify three factors explaining 65% of variances. Then, an attempt was made to interpret the results and the perspective of the potential application of scales over the attitudes of social workers and students of social work was presented. Polish versions of the scales were also described. The results of the analysis of the Polish version of the scales indicate that they are reliable and possess theoretical accuracy, thus allow for measuring the level of engagement and exposure to human rights knowledge in the field of social work.
