Opis:
Nowadays we have been dealing with a significant increase in decisions based, solely, on Big Data and algorithms, which means that many processes are fully automated. Every organization that adopts compliance systems must follow parameters. These parameters are better controlled when used by artificial intelligence, since there is no direct involvement of human beings and, consequently, less chance of error, intentional or not. This illustrates a scenario where the use of artificial intelligence can be more efficient and less costly than other tools, in addition to being more accurate. It is not surprising, therefore, that more and more people talk about algorithmic decisions. Although there have already been several studies on cognitive biases, there are numerous difficulties in dealing with the topic, as many of those who are involved in organizational decisions are considered partial or biased and may not reflect the expected ethical standard. It is believed that the machine tends to fail less, according as it replaces human decisions – considered naturally flawed and impartial. Is it, therefore, an efficient and safe substitute for the implementation and maintenance of compliance systems in organizations?

Opis:
The world is constantly changing under the influence of new technologies. Artificial intelligence systems are currently used in many areas of human activity. Such systems are increasingly assigned the tasks of collecting and analysing personal data. The areas successfully using AI include transport, medicine, trade, marketing, and others. The number of these areas increases proportionally with the advancement of technology. We can process vast amounts of data and analyse it using IA. It is, of course, big data that sits at the heart of AI. As computing systems generally have grown in power and capacity, data consumption has grown exponentially.

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are one of top investment priorities in these days. They are aimed at finding applications in fields of special value for humans, including education. Chatbots are one of those AI-driven solutions that support learning and teaching processes also in higher education institutions. In this paper there are presented two cases of chatbot technology implementation at Polish universities. Chatbots develop students’ technical and programming skills, but also provide the possibility of gaining linguistic expertise. However, a chatbot’s teaching mastery depends also on its users. That is why it is important to get students to truly understand AI systems and feel responsible for the conversation. But above all, we should ensure that chatbots respect human and civil rights.

Aim/purpose – This research presents a conceptual stakeholder accountability model for mapping the project actors to the conduct for which they should be held accountable in artificial intelligence (AI) projects. AI projects differ from other projects in important ways, including in their capacity to inflict harm and impact human and civil rights on a global scale. The in-project decisions are high stakes, and it is critical who decides the system’s features. Even well-designed AI systems can be deployed in ways that harm individuals, local communities, and society. Design/methodology/approach – The present study uses a systematic literature review, accountability theory, and AI success factors to elaborate on the relationships between AI project actors and stakeholders. The literature review follows the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) statement process. Bovens’ accountability model and AI success factors are employed as a basis for the coding framework in the thematic analysis. The study uses a web-based survey to collect data from respondents in the United States and Germany employing statistical analysis to assess public opinion on AI fairness, sustainability, and accountability. Findings – The AI stakeholder accountability model specifies the complex relationships between 16 actors and 22 stakeholder forums using 78 AI success factors to define the conduct and the obligations and consequences that characterize those relationships. The survey analysis suggests that more than 80% of the public thinks AI development should be fair and sustainable, and it sees the government and development organizations as most accountable in this regard. There are some differences between the United States and Germany regarding fairness, sustainability, and accountability. Research implications/limitations – The results should benefit project managers and project sponsors in stakeholder identification and resource assignment. The definitions offer policy advisors insights for updating AI governance practices. The model presented here is conceptual and has not been validated using real-world projects. Originality/value/contribution – The study adds context-specific information on AI to the project management literature. It defines project actors as moral agents and provides a model for mapping the accountability of project actors to stakeholder expectations and system impacts.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena games focus mainly on struggles between two teams of players. An increasing level of cyberbullying [1] discourages new players from the game and they often chose a different option, that is, a match against opponents controlled by the computer. The behavior of artificial foes can be dynamically fitted to user’s needs, in particular with regard to the difficulty of the game. In this paper we explore different approaches to provide an intelligent behavior of bots basing on more human-like combat predictions rather than instant, scripted behaviors.

Combating economic cybercrime using AI can be a new powerful approach. AI technologies have the potential to detect and respond to cyber threats in real-time, identify patterns and anomalies in large data sets, and automate various security processes. The basic ways of using artificial intelligence to combat economic cybercrime are Threat Detection, Behavioral Analysis, Fraud Prevention, Phishing and Malware Detection, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response and Threat Hunting, Predictive Analytics or Security Automation. However, it should be noted that while AI can significantly improve cybersecurity operations, it is not a standalone solution. It should be used in conjunction with other security measures such as regular software updates, employee training, and strong access controls to create a robust defense against economic cybercrime.

As well known, each scientific and technological step in mineral industry creates huge amount of raw data and there is a serious necessity to firstly classify them. Afterwards experts should find alternative solutions in order to get optimal results by using those parameters and relations between them using special simulation software platforms. Development of these simulation models for such complex operations is not only time consuming and lacks real time applicability but also requires integration of multiple software platforms, intensive process knowledge and extensive model validation. An example case study is also demonstrated and the results are discussed within the article covering the main inferences, comments and decision during NI use for the experimental parameters used in a flotation related postgraduate study and compares with possible AI use.

The rapid development of cybernetics allows the use of artificial intelligence in many areas of social and economic life. The State can also harness algorithms and machine learning for its actions. Automatic decision making should be one of the stages in the development and improvement of public administration. While it is easy to implement these solutions in the case of related decisions, decisions made under administrative discretion, general clauses or valuation standards pose a challenge. The correct transformation of paper-based public administration into automatic public administration requires a change in decision makers’ thinking, the introduction of new solutions, and building trust in artificial intelligence. Therefore, new solutions have to be built in accordance with the principles of transparency, accountability, equality, goodness and justice. Artificial intelligence making automatic decisions on behalf of the State must be a tool to support the execution of public tasks concerning citizens which is based on trust towards AI and public administration.

Artificial Intelligence, both as a hope of making a substantial progress, and a fear of the unknown and unimaginable, has its roots in human dreams. These dreams were materialized by means of rational intellectual efforts. We see beginnings of such a process in Lullus’s fancies. Many scholars and enthusiasts participated in the development of Lullus’s art, ars combinatoria. Amongst them, Athanasius Kircher was distinguished. Gottfried Leibniz ended the period in which the idea of artificial intelligence had been shaped, and started a new one when artificial intelligence could be considered a part of science, according to today’s standards.

Opis:
The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around for over 60 years now. Soon after its inception, the founding fathers predicted that within a few years an intelligent machine would be built. That prediction failed miserably. Not only hasn’t an intelligent machine been built, but we are not much closer to building one than we were some 50 years ago. Many reasons have been given for this failure, but one theme has been dominant since its advent in 1969: The Frame Problem. What looked initially like an innocuous problem in logic, turned out to be a much broader and harder problem of holism and relevance in commonsense reasoning. Despite an enormous literature on the topic, there is still disagreement not only on whether the problem has been solved, but even what exactly the problem is. In this paper, we provide a formal description of the initial problem, the early attempts at a solution, and its ramifications both in AI as well as philosophy.

This research determines an identification system for the types of Beiguan music – a historical, non-classical music genre – by combining artificial neural network (ANN), social tagging, and music information retrieval (MIR). Based on the strategy of social tagging, the procedure of this research includes: evaluating the qualifying features of 48 Beiguan music recordings, quantifying 11 music indexes representing tempo and instrumental features, feeding these sets of quantized data into a three-layered ANN, and executing three rounds of testing, with each round containing 30 times of identification. The result of ANN testing reaches a satisfying correctness (97% overall) on classifying three types of Beiguan music. The purpose of this research is to provide a general attesting method, which can identify diversities within the selected non-classical music genre, Beiguan. The research also quantifies significant musical indexes, which can be effectively identified. The advantages of this method include improving data processing efficiency, fast MIR, and evoking possible musical connections from the high-relation result of statistical analyses.

The use of AI in public administration is becoming a reality, although it is still a long way from large-scale undertakings . The right to good administration, well-established in EU legal order, is equally real, however, it must be borne in mind that this right has so far been defined only in relation to traditional administration . Therefore, the purpose of the paper is to examine whether the use of AI in public administration would allow individuals to fully exercise their right to good administration. To achieve this purpose, it is reconstructed, on the basis of EU law provisions in force and the case-law of the CJEU, the meaning and scope of the right to good administration, and analysed, taking into account a definition of AI systems and planned legislative changes, whether and to what extent the reconstructed understanding of this right enables the use of AI systems in public administration. In the course of research the hypothesis that the right to good administration does not preclude the use of AI systems in public administration is verified . As the conducted analysis shows, the right to good administration as interpreted in traditional administration enables the use of AI systems in public administration, provided that the appropriate quality of these systems and the level of knowledge and skills of the parties and authorities are ensured .

The paper addresses the problem of forecasting in manufacturing systems. The main aim of the research is to propose new hybrid forecasting models combining artificial intelligencebased methods with traditional techniques based on time series – namely: Hybrid econometric model, Hybrid artificial neural network model, Hybrid support vector machine model and Hybrid extreme learning machine model. The study focuses on solving the problem of limited access to independent variables. Empirical verification of the proposed models is built upon real data from the three manufacturing system areas – production planning, maintenance and quality control. Moreover, in the paper, an algorithm for the forecasting accuracy assessment and optimal method selection for industrial companies is introduced. It can serve not only as an efficient and costless tool for advanced manufacturing companies willing to select the right forecasting method for their particular needs but also as an approach supporting the initial steps of transformation towards smart factory and Industry 4.0 implementation.

Opis:
Travel demand models are required by transportation planners to predict the travel behaviour of people with different socio-economic characteristics. Travel behaviour of students act as an essential component of travel demand modelling. This behaviour is reflected in the educational activity travel pattern, the timing, sequence and mode of travel of students. Roads in the vicinity of schools are adversely affected during the school opening and closing hours. It enhances the traffic congestion, emission and safety problems around schools. It is necessary to improve the safety of school going children by understanding the present travel behaviour and to develop efficient sustainable traffic management measures to reduce congestion in the vicinity of schools. It is possible only if the travel behaviour of educational activities are studied. This travel behaviour is complex in nature and lot of uncertainty exists. Selection of modelling technique is very important for modelling the complex travel behaviour of students. This leads to the importance of application of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in this area. AI techniques are highly developed in twenty first century due to the advancements in computer, big data and theoretical understanding. It is proved in the literature that these techniques are suitable for modelling the human behaviour. However, it has not been used in behaviourally oriented activity based modelling. This study is aimed to develop a model system to predict the daily travel behaviour of students using artificial intelligence technique, ANN. These ANN models were then compared with the conventional econometric models developed. It was observed that artificial intelligence models provide better results than econometric models in predicting the activity-travel behaviour of students. These models were further applied to study the variation in activity-travel behaviour, if short term travel-demand management measures like promoting walking for educational activities are implemented. Thus the study established that artificial intelligence can replace the conventional econometric methods for modelling the activity-travel behaviour of students. It can also be used for analysing the impact of short term travel demand management measures.

Recent approaches to fault detection and isolation (FDI) for dynamic systems using methods of integrating quantitative and qualitative model information, based upon artificial intelligence (AI) techniques are surveyed. In this study, the use of AI methods is considered an important extension to the quantitative model-based approach for residual generation in FDI. When quantitative models are not readily available, a correctly trained artificial neural network (ANN) can be used as a non-linear dynamic model of the system. However, the neural network does not easily provide insight into model behaviour; the model is explicit rather than implicit in form. This main difficulty can be overcome using qualitative modelling or rule-based inference methods. For example, fuzzy logic can be used together with state-space models or neural networks to enhance FDI diagnostic reasoning capabilities. The paper discusses the properties of several methods of combining quantitative and qualitative system information and their practical value for fault diagnosis of real process systems.

Research background: As Artificial Intelligence (AI) weaves into the fabric of daily life, its societal and economic implications underscore the urgency of embracing an environment conducive to its informed adoption. This requires a sophisticated understanding of the societal perception and adaptability to AI, emphasizing the importance of developing comprehensive AI literacy.  Purpose of the article: This study inquiries into the sociodemographic underpinnings of AI literacy, aiming to demystify how knowledge about AI's capabilities in everyday tasks varies across individual population segments. It allows us to define the basic determinants that influence the differences in the individual population structures. It also reveals the potential risks associated with the use of AI. Methods: This study investigates the awareness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in daily lives of the Czech population, focusing on the influence of socio-demographic factors. Utilizing computer-assisted web interviewing, we surveyed 1,041 respondents in April 2023, ensuring representativeness by applying quotas for age, gender, education, region, and residential area size. Our investigation spanned AI applications in sectors like customer service, music playlist recommendation, email sorting, healthcare, online shopping, and home devices. Findings & value added: Findings taken from descriptive statistics reveal variable AI awareness levels across different domains, with younger demographics exhibiting notably lower awareness in several areas. Regression analysis highlighted that awareness is significantly associated with gender, age, and education level. Regression analysis showed that males, younger age groups and those with higher levels of education were more likely to correctly answer majority of questions about the role of AI in everyday life. These insights are crucial for stakeholders aiming to enhance AI literacy, tailor communication strategies, and develop digital platforms, offering guidance for policymakers and market analysts in optimizing AI-related initiatives.

In recent years, due to the growing importance of eco-design and tightening EU regulations entrepreneurs are required to implement activities related to environmental protection. It influences the development of methods and tools enabling the implementation of eco-design into practice, which are increasingly used by modern information technologies. They are based on intelligent solutions that allows them to better match the requirements of designers and allows for the automation of processes, and in some cases they are able to do the work themselves, replacing designers. Details are useful in areas that require calculations, comparisons and making choices, which is the process of eco-design. The paper describes methodology of pro-ecological product design oriented towards recycling, based on agent technology, enables the design of environmentally friendly products including recycling. The description of the methodology was preceded by a literature analysis on the characteristics of tools supporting eco-design and the process of its development was presented. The proposed methodology can be used at the design stage of devices to select the best product in terms of ecology. It is based on the original set of recycling indicators, used to evaluate the recycling of the product, ensure the ability to operate in a distributed design environment, and the use of data from various CAD systems, allows full automation of calculations and updates (without user participation).

As security is one of the basic human needs, we need security systems that can prevent crimes from happen‐ ing. In general, surveillance videos are used to observe the environment and human behavior in a given location. However, surveillance videos can only be used to record images or videos, without additional information. There‐ fore, more advanced cameras are needed to obtain other additional information such as the position and move‐ ment of people. This research extracted this information from surveillance video footage using a person tracking, detection, and identification algorithm. The framework for these is based on deep learning algorithms, a popu‐ lar branch of artificial intelligence. In the field of video surveillance, person tracking is considered a challenging task. Many computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning techniques have been developed in recent years. The majority of these techniques are based on frontal view images or video sequences. In this work, we will compare some previous work related to the same topic.

Aim/purpose - This research aims to design an analytical framework to investigate the dimensions, factors, and key indicators affecting the green supply chain based on the innovative technology of Artificial Intelligence of Everything (AIoE). Understanding the cause-and-effect relationships of all actors in this smart and sustainable system is also one of the critical goals of this research. Also, examining the key features of AIoE technology as a new hybrid technology is one of this research's most essential features. Design/methodology/approach - This research has tried to extract and refine the most critical parameters affecting the green supply chain based on technology by reviewing the literature and examining the opinions of active experts in the field of study. Then, by using the focus group, it has been tried to provide an analytical framework to express the cause-and-effect relationships of all actors active in this system by examining the basic features of AIoE. Finally, this framework was validated and approved using experts' opinions and the focus group, emphasizing integrity, comprehensiveness, and effectiveness. Findings - This research identified the dimensions, components, and indicators affecting the smart, green, and sustainable supply chain based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). It also presented an analytical framework that shows the cause-and-effect relationships of all active actors in this system. Research implications/limitations - This research simultaneously offers significant insights into implementing intelligent and sustainable process-oriented systems. However, it is important to note the limitations. One of the most significant challenges in presenting the framework was finding experts with sufficient awareness, knowledge, and experience and participants to analyze cause-and-effect relationships. Originality/value contribution - This research provides a practical analysis of AIoE technology for the first time. The results strongly support the argument that hybrid AIoE technology can tremendously impact the sustainability and greenness of supply chain processes.

Scheduling doctors duties in a hospital are complicated and time-consuming tasks. The person responsible for creating a duty timetable is facing one major problem when allocating doctors to time periods: the agreement between several constraining (and often mutually excluding) requirements must be found. In this paper a solution methodology for the monthly duty assignment of doctors is presented. The typical problem is described in detail, along with specific hospital environment, from which datasets for experiments have been taken. A hybrid approach that utilizes strengths of a few artificial intelligence techniques was used to solve the problem. In particular, a population of initial solutions is generated heuristically and then improved using evolutionary algorithm. Experimental results are presented along with a discussion on the computational efficiency, operational acceptability and quality of the solutions.

The purpose of this study is to develop a methodology for material design. This methogology will enabling the selection of production descriptors to ensure the required mechanical properties of structural steels specified by the designer of machinery and equipment. The selection is performed by using a computational model developed with use of artificial intelligence methods and virtual environment. The model is designed to provide impact examinations of these factors on the mechanical properties of steel only in the computing environment. Virtual computing environment allows full usage of the developed intelligent model of non-alloy and alloy structural steel properties and provides an easy, intuitive and user-friendly way to designate these properties for products after heat and plastic treatment. Also, very easy is the determination of chemical composition, treatment conditions and geometric dimensions on the basis of the steels mechanical properties. The proposed solutions allow the usage of developed virtual environment as a new medium in both, the scientific work performed remotely, as well as in education during classes. It is also possible the extension of this model to other groups of materials, not just for steel.

Research background: In a modern economy, full of complexities, ensuring a business' financial stability, and increasing its financial performance and competitiveness, has become especially difficult. Then, monitoring the company's financial situation and predicting its future development becomes important. Assessing the financial health of business entities using various models is an important area in not only scientific research, but also business practice. Purpose of the article: This study aims to predict the bankruptcy of companies in the engineering and automotive industries of the Slovak Republic using a multilayer neural network and logistic regression. Importantly, we develop a novel an early warning model for the Slovak engineering and automotive industries, which can be applied in countries with undeveloped capital markets. Methods: Data on the financial ratios of 2,384 companies were used. We used a logistic regression to analyse the data for the year 2019 and designed a logistic model. Meanwhile, the data for the years 2018 and 2019 were analysed using the neural network. In the prediction model, we analysed the predictive performance of several combinations of factors based on the industry sector, use of the scaling technique, activation function, and ratio of the sample distribution to the test and training parts. Findings & value added: The financial indicators ROS, QR, NWC/A, and PC/S reduce the likelihood of bankruptcy. Regarding the value of this work, we constructed an optimal network for the automotive and engineering industries using nine financial indicators on the input layer in combination with one hidden layer. Moreover, we developed a novel prediction model for bankruptcy using six of these indicators. Almost all sampled industries are privatised, and most companies are foreign owned. Hence, international companies as well as researchers can apply our models to understand their financial health and sustainability. Moreover, they can conduct comparative analyses of their own model with ours to reveal areas of model improvements.

The number of automobiles on the road grows in lockstep with the advancement of vehicle manufacturing. Road accidents appear to be on the rise, owing to this growing proliferation of vehicles. Accidents frequently occur in our daily lives, and are the top ten causes of mortality from injuries globally. It is now an important component of the worldwide public health burden. Every year, an estimated 1.2 million people are killed in car accidents. Driver drowsiness and weariness are major contributors to traffic accidents this study relies on computer software and photographs, as well as a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), to assess whether a motorist is tired. The Driver Drowsiness System is built on the MultiLayer Feed-Forward Network concept CNN was created using around 7,000 photos of eyes in both sleepiness and non-drowsiness phases with various face layouts. These photos were divided into two datasets: training (80% of the images) and testing (20% of the images). For training purposes, the pictures in the training dataset are fed into the network. To decrease information loss as much as feasible, backpropagation techniques and optimizers are applied. We developed an algorithm to calculate ROI as well as track and evaluate motor and visual impacts.

The complex metallurgical interrelationships in the production of ductile cast iron can lead to enormous differences in graphite formation and local microstructure by small variations during production. Artificial intelligence algorithms were used to describe graphite formation, which is influenced by a variety of metallurgical parameters. Moreover, complex physical relationships in the formation of graphite morphology are also controlled by boundary conditions of processing, the effect of which can hardly be assessed in everyday foundry operations. The influence of relevant input parameters can be predetermined using artificial intelligence based on conditions and patterns that occur simultaneously. By predicting the local graphite formation, measures to stabilise production were defined and thereby the accuracy of structure simulations improved. In course of this work, the most important dominating variables, from initial charging to final casting, were compiled and analysed with the help of statistical regression methods to predict the nodularity of graphite spheres. We compared the accuracy of the prediction by using Linear Regression, Gaussian Process Regression, Regression Trees, Boosted Trees, Support Vector Machines, Shallow Neural Networks and Deep Neural Networks. As input parameters we used 45 characteristics of the production process consisting of the basic information including the composition of the charge, the overheating time, the type of melting vessel, the type of the inoculant, the fading, and the solidification time. Additionally, the data of several thermal analysis, oxygen activity measurements and the final chemical analysis were included. Initial programme designs using machine learning algorithms based on neural networks achieved encouraging results. To improve the degree of accuracy, this algorithm was subsequently adapted and refined for the nodularity of graphite.

Market relationships have undergone profound changes in the past two decades, which have been accelerated by the crisis of the global pandemic. This has led to a fundamental transformation in the communications not only of businesses but also of governments, organizations, and communities. This study addresses web personalization with an emphasis on artificial intelligence in the context of their use for managing and decision-making in marketing processes in practice. These two techniques tend to be often confused in practice, and for this reason it is helpful to define their positions and mutual interactions. The goal of this article is a theoretical comparison of web personalization and artificial intelligence as part of marketing processes and the proposal of a framework for their use for creators of any online media content. At the same time it sheds light on the meaning and use of web personalization for management in practice and in particular in marketing processes and proposes a model for implementing these techniques that can be used in strategic marketing. This article presents research questions and uses secondary data analysis in the form of literature review and content analysis. The result is categorization of web personalization and artificial intelligence techniques, identifying their mutual links, and proposing an application framework for marketing practice. This article contributes to the discussion by identifying managerial use of defined techniques and their position in strategies for producers of online content and offers a new perspective on the interaction of personalization and artificial intelligence, whereas this approach has not been sufficiently explored in the academic literature.

The use of artificial intelligence techniques to optimise power boiler operation produced particularly interesting results which can and should be employed in the automation of similar facilities, such as stoker-fired hot water and steam-heating boilers burning coal. Subsequent stages of analysis, model development, testing, and the resulting successful optimisation demonstrate that the experience obtained to date in the field of automation of industrial and energy- -related facilities can be effectively complemented by the modern mathematical apparatus.

In view of the massive development of AI technologies in society and economy, the paper identifies current proposals for the regulation of artificial intelligence at the EU level, which will be directly implemented in the Member States. The rapidly changing market if forcing a new approach of competition authorities to this process and raises the question of the role of competition policy in the digital economy. The main thread of the paper is therefore to highlight the existing and expected challenges for the protection of competition related to the increased use of AI algorithms by entrepreneurs for the implementation and maintenance of cartels concluded in the traditional manner, as well as algorithms affecting competition without human intervention. To maintain some objectivity in the discussion, significant pro-competitive benefits of their use are also indicated.

Opis:
Medical history highlights that myocardial infarction is one of the leading factors of death in human beings. Angina pectoris is a prominent vital sign of myocardial infarction. Medical reports suggest that experiencing chest pain during heart attacks causes changes in facial muscles, resulting in variations in patterns of facial expression. This work intends to develop an automatic facial expression detection to identify the severity of chest pain as a vital sign of MI, using an algorithmic approach that is implemented with a state-of-the-art convolutional neural network (CNN). The advanced object detection lightweight CNN models are as follows: Single Shot Detector Mobile Net V2, and Single Shot Detector Inception V2, which were utilized for designing the vital signs MI model from the 500 Red Blue Green Color images private dataset. The authors developed cardiac emergency health monitoring care using an Edge Artificial Intelligence (“Edge AI”) using NVIDIA’s Jetson Nano embedded GPU platform. The proposed model is mainly focused on the factors of low cost and less power consumption for onboard real-time detection of vital signs of myocardial infarction. The evaluated metrics achieve a mean Average Precision of 85.18%, Average Recall of 88.32%, and 6.85 frames per second for the generated detections.

Opis:
Thanks to advances in machine learning in recent years the ability of AI agents to act independently of human oversight, respond to their environment, and interact with other machines has significantly increased, and is one step closer to human-like performance. For this reason, we can observe contemporary researchers’ efforts towards modeling agency in artificial systems. In this light, the aim of this paper is to develop a dual-process approach to the problem of AI agency perception, and to discuss possible triggers of various agency perceptions. The article discusses the agency attribution phenomenon, based on which theargument for the dual-process nature of agency perception is developed. Two distinct types of thinking (processing)involved in human reasoning on AI agency are suggested: Type 1 and Type 2. The first one is fast, automatic, routine, and often unconscious; the second is a slower, controlled, more conscious one. Thesetwo distinct types of processing can yield differing and sometimes conflicting results for human cognition and interaction. Thepreliminary philosophical findings may contribute to further investigations in philosophy of mind or cognitive psychology andcould also be empirically tested in HCI and UX studies.

Opis:
Despite the growing popularity of machine learning technology, vision‐based action recognition/forecasting systems are seen as black‐boxes by the user. The effecti‐ veness of such systems depends on the machine learning algorithms, it is difficult (or impossible) to explain the de‐ cisions making processes to the users. In this context, an approach that offers the user understanding of these re‐ asoning models is significant. To do this, we present an Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) based approach to action forecasting using structured database and object affordances definition. The structured database is sup‐ porting the prediction process. The method allows to vi‐ sualize the components of the structured database. Later, the components of the base are used for forecasting the nominally possible motion goals. The object affordance explicated by the probability functions supports the se‐ lection of possible motion goals. The presented methodo‐ logy allows satisfactory explanations of the reasoning be‐ hind the inference mechanism. Experimental evaluation was conducted using the WUT‐18 dataset, the efficiency of the presented solution was compared to the other ba‐ seline algorithms.

Opis:
Hybrid constructions include heterogeneous materials with different behaviors under load. The aim is to achieve a so-called synergistic effect when the advantages of particular structural elements complement each other in a unified system. The building constructions considered in the research include high-strength steel cables, fiberglass rods, and flexible polymer membranes. The membrane is attached to the rods which have been elastically bent from the initially straight shape into an arch-like form. Structural materials inevitably deteriorate during a long operational period. The present study focuses on detecting material deterioration using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), which belong to the scope of intelligent techniques for data analysis. Appropriate ANN structures and required features are proposed. A semi-supervised learning strategy is used. The approach allows the training of the networks with normal data only derived from the construction without defects. Material degradationis detected by the level of reconstruction error produced by the network given the input data. The work contributes to the field of structural health monitoring of hybrid building constructions. It provides the opportunity to detect material deterioration given the forces in particular structural elements.

The process of advancement of artificial intelligence (hereinafter: AI) seen in recent years results in breakthroughs in many areas of human life, such as medicine, agriculture, and science. However, despite its many advantages and benefits, it also inevitably creates room for abuse. This is particularly true of child pornography, where AI systems are increasingly being used to generate nude images of minors – both existing in reality and fictional. These cases, given much attention in the public debate, cause doubts as to whether existing normative solutions are suitable to combat this new phenomenon. The article aims to answer the question of whether the existing law makes it possible to successfully prosecute perpetrators who use AI systems to generate child pornography (including that depicting fictional characters). In addition, it also offers an analysis of the criminal liability of the developers of the AI systems used in this process and of the hosting providers managing the websites used to distribute such pornographic content.

Scrutinizing the changes in the quality of river water is one of the main factors of monitoring the quality of natural flows, which plays a crucial role in the sustainable management of these ecosystems. The concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO) in river water is one of the most important indicators of quality management in such water bodies. From an environmental point of view, exceeding the permissible and natural decay capacity of pollutants in natural streams leads to a decrease in DO and, consequently, causes serious risks for the survival of aquatic life in related ecosystems. Hence, in the present study, 10 daily variables with the amount of dissolved oxygen on the same day were collected and evaluated from Allen County. Moreover, half of these variables were chosen as effective inputs to the model based on statistical analysis, so as to calculate the dissolved oxygen concentration parameter. Modeling with artificial intelligence approaches was implemented in the form of four individual methods: ANFIS-PSO, OS-ELM, Bagging-RF and Boosting CART, and two ensemble-stacking methods: SMA and Meta-learner MLP. The outcomes of estimating the DO with RMSE, MAE, GRI, r, and MBE criteria and marginal-scatter and subject profile diagrams were discussed. Moreover, the efficiency of the models in estimating the outlier of the observational data was scrutinized by subject profile diagram. Finally, it was found that the Meta-learner MLP model with RMSE of 0.965 mg/L had improvement in performance by 8.8%, 8.9%, 22.3%, 24.9% and 27.6%, respectively, compared to SMA, Boosting CART, Bagging-RF, ANFIS-PSO and OS-ELM methods. This remarkable improvement led to recommendations for using stacking techniques in water quality modeling and simulation.

The collected data resources become the basis for generating business and management information. This database is maintained on various platforms using integrated BI (Business Intelligence) systems enabling knowledge to be generated through the data-mining mechanisms embedded in the artificial intelligence models. In this article, the authors focus on AI (Artificial Intelligence) models and systems based on ANN's (Artificial Neural Networks) and fuzzy set theory, which can be useful in solutions dedicated to supporting the complex management of modern organisations, and in particular the support of active functions (forecasting, planning and monitoring activities, as well as risk analysis and system effectiveness).

The aim of this study was to verify improved, ensemble-based strategy for inferencing with use of our solution for quantitative assessment of tendons and ligaments healing process and to show possible applications of the method. Methods: We chose the problem of the Achilles tendon rupture as an example representing a group of common sport traumas. We derived our dataset from 90 individuals and divided it into two subsets: healthy individuals and patients with complete Achilles tendon ruptures. We computed approx. 160 000 2D axial cross-sections from 3D MRI studies and preprocessed them to create a suitable input for artificial intelligence methods. Finally, we compared different training methods for chosen approaches for quantitative assessment of tendon tissue healing with the use of statistical analysis. Results: We showed improvement in inferencing with use of the ensemble technique that results from achieving comparable accuracy of 99% for our previously published method trained on 500 000 samples and for the new ensemble technique trained on 160 000 samples. We also showed real-life applications of our approach that address several clinical problems: (1) automatic classification of healthy and injured tendons, (2) assessment of the healing process, (3) a pathologic tissue localization. Conclusions: The presented method enables acquiring comparable accuracy with less training samples. The applications of the method presented in the paper as case studies can facilitate evaluation of the healing process and comparing with previous examination of the same patient as well as with other patients. This approach might be probably transferred to other musculoskeletal tissues and joints.

The aim of the considerations is to determine whether artificial intelligence units can take the place of humans in administrative proceedings ending with the issuance of discretionary decisions. The author starts from presenting the essence of discretionary decisions and guide the scope of judicial control over them. The presented considerations relate primarily to the potential placement of such devices in the “administrative justice system” that can be defined as artificial intelligence units in the strict sense. Therefore, this concerns devices for which human intervention is usually limited to switching on and technical supervision. However, the considerations can also be applied to such devices where human interference in their operation is slightly greater. It should be emphasized, however, that it this does not concern devices that are fully or almost fully controlled by humans.

The main goal of the research carried out was developing the design methodology for the new high-speed steels with the required properties, including hardness and fracture toughness, as the main properties guaranteeing the high durability and quality of tools made from them. It was decided that hardness and fracture toughness KIc are the criteria used during the high-speed steels design. In case of hardness, the statistical and neural netw chemical composition and its heat treatment parameters, i.e., austenitizing- and tempering temperatures. In the second case - high-speed steels fracture toughness, the neural network model was developed, makin it possible to compute the KIc factor based on the steel chemical composition and its heat treatment parameters. The developed material models were used for designing the chemical compositions if the new high-speed steel, demonstrating the desired properties, i.e., hardness and fracture toughness. Methodology was developed to this end, employing the evolutionary algorithms, multicriteria optimisation of the high-speed steels chemical composition.

Opis:
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia that can cause a brain neurological disorder with progressive memory loss as a result of brain cell damage. Prevention and treatment of disease is a key challenge in today’s aging society. Accurate diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease plays an important role in patient management, especially in the early stages of the disease, because awareness of risk allows patients to undergo preventive measures even before irreversible brain damage occurs. Over the years, techniques such as statistical modeling or machine learning algorithms have been used to improve understanding of this condition. The objective of the work is the study of the methods of detection and progression of Alzheimer’s disease through artificial intelligence techniques that have been proposed in the last three years. The methodology used was based on the search, selection, review, and analysis of the state of the art and the most current articles published on the subject. The most representative works were analyzed, which allowed proposing a taxonomic classification of the studied methods and on this basis a possible solution strategy was proposed within the framework of the project developed by the Cuban Center for Neurosciences based on the conditions more convenient in terms of cost and effectiveness and the most current trends based on the use of artificial intelligence techniques.

Our aim was to test existing sex and age stereotypes related to emotional expressivity, gender and age. This was a complex analysis of facial expressions of all basic emotions (anger, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness, and surprise) to everyday life stimuli observing a large sample (2,969 unique participants creating 39,694 recordings) using an Emotion Artificial Intelligence. Our data partially support emotion-specific stereotype that women express more affiliate emotions and men express more dominant emotions except for sadness. There were found correlations of emotion expression with age, however intensity and frequency of emotion expression did not follow the same pattern. Not eliminating the differences between men and women in the baseline facial appearance resulted in men expressing dominant emotions (anger and disgust) more intensively, and women expressing more affiliative emotions (happiness, fear, and surprise). To sum up, facial appearance can be one of the origins of the existing gender stereotypic socialisation stereotype.

The main purpose of the paper is both to present and to highlight the wide range of artificial intelligence appliance in linguistic research. I intend to define the so called ‘linguistic intelligence’ in the sense of machine learning, based mainly on artificial neural networks. Linguistic intelligent solutions seem to be not only up-to-date but also very promising in the area of developing and improving any intelligent linguistic tools, such as intelligent tutoring systems that are able to interact with human being, or the voice (speech) recognition systems that are able to receive, interpret (understand) and sometimes even carry out spoken commands. Finally, I intend to present the area of so called ‘terminotics’. The term refers to the meeting point of three interrelated disciplines: terminology, computational linguistics and linguistic engineering. This branch is also assisted by computer tools and new technologies based on artificial intelligence and machine learning. These (tools) are mainly designed for term extraction and corpora development but lately there are also some new possibilities to use these tools to increase the quality of terminology infrastructure as well.

Background: a humidity sensor is used to sense and measure the relative humidity of air. A new composite system has been fabricated using environmental pollutants such as carbon black and low-cost zinc oxide, and it acts as a humidity sensor. Residual life of the sensor is calculated and an expert system is modelled. For properties and nature confirmation, characterization is performed, and a sensing material is fabricated. Methodology: characterization is performed on the fabricated material. Complex impedance spectroscopy (CIS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) are all used to confirm the surface roughness, its composite nature as well as the morphology of the composite. The residual lifetime of the fabricated humidity sensor is calculated by means of accelerated life testing. An intelligent model is designed using artificial intelligence techniques, including the artificial neural network (ANN), fuzzy inference system (FIS) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). Results: maximum conductivity obtained is 6.4£10−3 S/cm when zinc oxide is doped with 80% of carbon black. Conclusion: the solid composite obtained possesses good humidity-sensing capability in the range of 30–95%. ANFIS exhibits the maximum prediction accuracy, with an error rate of just 1.1%.

The article presents a computational model build with the use of artificial neural networks optimized by genetic algorithm. This model was used to research and prediction of the impact of chemical elements and heat treatment conditions on the mechanical properties of ferrite stainless steel. Optimization has allowed the development of artificial neural networks, which showed a better or comparable prediction result in comparison to un-optimized networks has reduced the number of input variables and has accelerated the calculation speed. The introduced computational model can be applied in industry to reduce the manufacturing costs of materials. It can also simplify material selection when an engineer must properly choose the chemical elements and adequate plastic and/or heat treatment of stainless steels with required mechanical properties.

This paper presents an automation process is a need in the agricultural industry specifically chili crops, that implemented image processing techniques and classification of chili crops usually based on their color, shape, and texture. The goal of this study was to develop a portable sorting machine that will be able to segregate chili based on their color by using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and to analyze the performance by using the Plot Confusion method. A sample of ten green chili images and ten red chili images was trained by using Learning Algorithm in MATLAB program that included a feature extraction process and tested by comparing the performance with a larger dataset, which are 40 samples of chili images. The trained network from 20 samples produced an overall accuracy of 80 percent and above, while the trained network from 40 samples produced an overall accuracy of 85 percent. These results indicate the importance of further study as the design of the smart sorting machine was general enough to be used in the agricultural industry that requires a high volume of chili crops and with other differentiating features to be processed at the same time. Improvements can be made to the sorting system but will come at a higher price.

Estimating the amount of suspended sediment in rivers correctly is important due to the adverse impacts encountered during the design and maintenance of hydraulic structures such as dams, regulators, water channels and bridges. The sediment concentration and discharge currents have usually complex relationship, especially on long term scales, which can lead to high uncertainties in load estimates for certain components. In this paper, with several data-driven methods, including two types of perceptron support vector machines with radial basis function kernel (SVM-RBF), and poly kernel learning algorithms (SVM-PK), Library SVM (LibSVM), adaptive neuro-fuzzy (NF) and statistical approaches such as sediment rating curves (SRC), multi linear regression (MLR) are used for forecasting daily suspended sediment concentration from daily temperature of water and streamflow in the river. Daily data are measured at Augusta station by the US Geological Survey. 15 different input combinations (1 to 15) were used for SVM-PK, SVM-RBF, LibSVM, NF and MLR model studies. All approaches are compared to each other according to three statistical criteria; mean absolute errors (MAE), root mean square errors (RMSE) and correlation coefficient (R). Of the applied linear and nonlinear methods, LibSVM and NF have good results, but LibSVM generates a slightly better fit under whole daily sediment values.

Different aspects of modern society can be transformed by the deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI-powered tools have promoted changes in the financial industry by applying inventive methods for data analysis and automating processes, efficiency enhancement, cost reduction and more personalised services to customers. However, AI algorithms may activate significant ethical and regulatory concerns that should be addressed by the industry and society as a whole. In line with the Erasmus+ project Transversal Skills in Applied Artificial Intelligence - TSAAI (KA220-HED - Cooperation Partnerships in higher education), which aims to establish a training platform, this paper focuses on an analysis of study programmes in formal tertiary education across consortium countries (Spain, Estonia, North Macedonia, Croatia, Germany, and Slovenia) with a special focus on applied artificial intelligence and development of curriculum that will integrate teaching guidelines covering the areas of application of AI technology in the financial and insurance sectors. To this end, a Systematic Review of Literacy (SRL) on the web methodology identifying the existing employability requirements in AI and the Learning-Centred Syllabus (LCS) methodology for curriculum development was applied, with the presented curriculum expected to serve as a framework to develop teaching materials to help students, academics and employees enhance their professional skills, thus satisfying labour market needs.

Whilst there is significant research on supply chain finance, there is little information about its application to the omnichannel logistics. Hence, the primary adopted goal is to identify the ways of supporting the implementation and development of SSCM with use of Artificial Intelligence and developed SSCF implementation model. Potential paths to improve supply chain’s sustainability based on SSCF and AI are presented on the example of two internationally operating companies from the clothing industry using omnichannel. An exploratory case study has been conducted. Three methods were used to gather data: document/ reports analysis, direct and participative observation and unstructured interviews. By implementing AI, supply chain leaders can more easily improve all key dimensions of sustainability, especially in the strategic field, based on strengthening partnership and cooperation with suppliers offering value-added materials that guarantee a competitive advantage. The paper contributes to the limited existing literature on SSCF and AI and disseminates this information to provide impetus, guidance and support toward increasing the productivity, efficiency, consistency and quality of service.

Opis:
The paper offers a solution to the problem of material flow allocation within a virtual enterprise by using artificial intelligence methods. The research is based on the use of fuzzy relations when planning for optimal transportation modes to deliver components for manufactured products. The Fuzzy Logic Toolbox is used to determine the optimal route for transportation of components for manufactured products. The methods offered have been exemplified in the present research. The authors have built a simulation model for component transportation and delivery for manufactured products using the Simulink graphical environment for building models.
