Opis:
Nowadays we have been dealing with a significant increase in decisions based, solely, on Big Data and algorithms, which means that many processes are fully automated. Every organization that adopts compliance systems must follow parameters. These parameters are better controlled when used by artificial intelligence, since there is no direct involvement of human beings and, consequently, less chance of error, intentional or not. This illustrates a scenario where the use of artificial intelligence can be more efficient and less costly than other tools, in addition to being more accurate. It is not surprising, therefore, that more and more people talk about algorithmic decisions. Although there have already been several studies on cognitive biases, there are numerous difficulties in dealing with the topic, as many of those who are involved in organizational decisions are considered partial or biased and may not reflect the expected ethical standard. It is believed that the machine tends to fail less, according as it replaces human decisions – considered naturally flawed and impartial. Is it, therefore, an efficient and safe substitute for the implementation and maintenance of compliance systems in organizations?

Opis:
The world is constantly changing under the influence of new technologies. Artificial intelligence systems are currently used in many areas of human activity. Such systems are increasingly assigned the tasks of collecting and analysing personal data. The areas successfully using AI include transport, medicine, trade, marketing, and others. The number of these areas increases proportionally with the advancement of technology. We can process vast amounts of data and analyse it using IA. It is, of course, big data that sits at the heart of AI. As computing systems generally have grown in power and capacity, data consumption has grown exponentially.

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are one of top investment priorities in these days. They are aimed at finding applications in fields of special value for humans, including education. Chatbots are one of those AI-driven solutions that support learning and teaching processes also in higher education institutions. In this paper there are presented two cases of chatbot technology implementation at Polish universities. Chatbots develop students’ technical and programming skills, but also provide the possibility of gaining linguistic expertise. However, a chatbot’s teaching mastery depends also on its users. That is why it is important to get students to truly understand AI systems and feel responsible for the conversation. But above all, we should ensure that chatbots respect human and civil rights.

Aim/purpose – This research presents a conceptual stakeholder accountability model for mapping the project actors to the conduct for which they should be held accountable in artificial intelligence (AI) projects. AI projects differ from other projects in important ways, including in their capacity to inflict harm and impact human and civil rights on a global scale. The in-project decisions are high stakes, and it is critical who decides the system’s features. Even well-designed AI systems can be deployed in ways that harm individuals, local communities, and society. Design/methodology/approach – The present study uses a systematic literature review, accountability theory, and AI success factors to elaborate on the relationships between AI project actors and stakeholders. The literature review follows the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) statement process. Bovens’ accountability model and AI success factors are employed as a basis for the coding framework in the thematic analysis. The study uses a web-based survey to collect data from respondents in the United States and Germany employing statistical analysis to assess public opinion on AI fairness, sustainability, and accountability. Findings – The AI stakeholder accountability model specifies the complex relationships between 16 actors and 22 stakeholder forums using 78 AI success factors to define the conduct and the obligations and consequences that characterize those relationships. The survey analysis suggests that more than 80% of the public thinks AI development should be fair and sustainable, and it sees the government and development organizations as most accountable in this regard. There are some differences between the United States and Germany regarding fairness, sustainability, and accountability. Research implications/limitations – The results should benefit project managers and project sponsors in stakeholder identification and resource assignment. The definitions offer policy advisors insights for updating AI governance practices. The model presented here is conceptual and has not been validated using real-world projects. Originality/value/contribution – The study adds context-specific information on AI to the project management literature. It defines project actors as moral agents and provides a model for mapping the accountability of project actors to stakeholder expectations and system impacts.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena games focus mainly on struggles between two teams of players. An increasing level of cyberbullying [1] discourages new players from the game and they often chose a different option, that is, a match against opponents controlled by the computer. The behavior of artificial foes can be dynamically fitted to user’s needs, in particular with regard to the difficulty of the game. In this paper we explore different approaches to provide an intelligent behavior of bots basing on more human-like combat predictions rather than instant, scripted behaviors.

Combating economic cybercrime using AI can be a new powerful approach. AI technologies have the potential to detect and respond to cyber threats in real-time, identify patterns and anomalies in large data sets, and automate various security processes. The basic ways of using artificial intelligence to combat economic cybercrime are Threat Detection, Behavioral Analysis, Fraud Prevention, Phishing and Malware Detection, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response and Threat Hunting, Predictive Analytics or Security Automation. However, it should be noted that while AI can significantly improve cybersecurity operations, it is not a standalone solution. It should be used in conjunction with other security measures such as regular software updates, employee training, and strong access controls to create a robust defense against economic cybercrime.

As well known, each scientific and technological step in mineral industry creates huge amount of raw data and there is a serious necessity to firstly classify them. Afterwards experts should find alternative solutions in order to get optimal results by using those parameters and relations between them using special simulation software platforms. Development of these simulation models for such complex operations is not only time consuming and lacks real time applicability but also requires integration of multiple software platforms, intensive process knowledge and extensive model validation. An example case study is also demonstrated and the results are discussed within the article covering the main inferences, comments and decision during NI use for the experimental parameters used in a flotation related postgraduate study and compares with possible AI use.

The rapid development of cybernetics allows the use of artificial intelligence in many areas of social and economic life. The State can also harness algorithms and machine learning for its actions. Automatic decision making should be one of the stages in the development and improvement of public administration. While it is easy to implement these solutions in the case of related decisions, decisions made under administrative discretion, general clauses or valuation standards pose a challenge. The correct transformation of paper-based public administration into automatic public administration requires a change in decision makers’ thinking, the introduction of new solutions, and building trust in artificial intelligence. Therefore, new solutions have to be built in accordance with the principles of transparency, accountability, equality, goodness and justice. Artificial intelligence making automatic decisions on behalf of the State must be a tool to support the execution of public tasks concerning citizens which is based on trust towards AI and public administration.

Artificial Intelligence, both as a hope of making a substantial progress, and a fear of the unknown and unimaginable, has its roots in human dreams. These dreams were materialized by means of rational intellectual efforts. We see beginnings of such a process in Lullus’s fancies. Many scholars and enthusiasts participated in the development of Lullus’s art, ars combinatoria. Amongst them, Athanasius Kircher was distinguished. Gottfried Leibniz ended the period in which the idea of artificial intelligence had been shaped, and started a new one when artificial intelligence could be considered a part of science, according to today’s standards.

Opis:
The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around for over 60 years now. Soon after its inception, the founding fathers predicted that within a few years an intelligent machine would be built. That prediction failed miserably. Not only hasn’t an intelligent machine been built, but we are not much closer to building one than we were some 50 years ago. Many reasons have been given for this failure, but one theme has been dominant since its advent in 1969: The Frame Problem. What looked initially like an innocuous problem in logic, turned out to be a much broader and harder problem of holism and relevance in commonsense reasoning. Despite an enormous literature on the topic, there is still disagreement not only on whether the problem has been solved, but even what exactly the problem is. In this paper, we provide a formal description of the initial problem, the early attempts at a solution, and its ramifications both in AI as well as philosophy.

Opis:
Artificial intelligence is becoming an element of everyday life, and also a part of administrative proceedings. The legislator systematically adds regulations that allow public administration bodies to use artificial intelligence. At the same time, the Code of Administrative Procedure has not been amended in this respect. The article tries to establish what artificial intelligence evidence is. In addition, the issue of whether the rules on administrative evidence should be changed to cover the use of AI evidence is examined.
