According to Étienne Gilson, an endless reproduction of the technical aspects of a work of art can modify not only the aesthetic experience of which it is an object, but also the culture it is embedded in. Since industrialization of a cultural product in the form of the internet is a means of generating mass culture, questions could be raised regarding its sources and effects. this article offers three assumptions: 1) the internet, together with its content and actions taken by internet users, is a source of fear of experiencing cybercrime; 2) experiencing cybercrime is a result of using the internet; 3) in mass culture, the aesthetic experience has been replaced by the experience of fear. in order to address the titular question, i performed comparative analyses of eU citizens’ opinions on the basis of the eurobarometer study conducted in eU countries (2013–2020) relating to the social perception of cybercrime, treated as a source of experiencing fear, and the level of their personal experience. A secondary quantitative and qualitative analysis of the collected data were performed, and a comparative method was used.

The turn of the 20th and 21st c. was marked by the development of experience economy, in which the basic commodities are not specific products, but the customers’ emotions, impressions and experiences. Tourism has always been a particular “holiday experience industry”. In recent years, however, the importance of the conscious creation of emotional tourism products has become even greater; we may observe continuous efforts to multiply and intensify tourism experience. The key activities to achieve this goal include transforming tourism infrastructure into unique tourism attractions, enlarging traditional services/service packages by elements providing additional emotions and satisfaction, using modern technologies in order to add virtual entities to real tourism space (augmented reality), as well as to conveniently record tourism experience and share it with the public.

Celem artykułu jest ocena wartości psychometrycznej 12 itemowego narzędzia badawczego Mystical Experience (Anthony, Hermans, Sterkens, 2010), który stanowi skróconą wersją 32-itemowej Skali Mistycyzmu (Hood, 1975; konceptualizacja Stace’a, 1961). Test sprawdzony pod względem psychometrycznym na wielokulturowej i wielowyznaniowej próbce osób (chrześcijanie, hinduiści i wyznawcy islamu) służy do pomiaru nasilenia doświadczeń mistycznych. W części teoretycznej przedstawiono historię powstania i walidacji ME. Wykorzystując wcześniejsze tłumaczenia (Kuczkowski, 1993; Owczarek, 2004) przygotowano wersję polską Doświadczenia mistycznego. Na tak zbudowanym kwestionariuszu podjęto się procedury walidacyjnej (moc dyskryminacyjna pozycji, rzetelność, trafność wewnętrzna i zewnętrzna, różnicowa i zbieżna). W badaniach brało udział 708 osób: 581 studentów stacjonarnych i niestacjonarnych UPJP2 w Krakowie w wieku od 20 do 50 lat oraz 127 studentów stacjonarnych ASP w Krakowie w wieku od 20 do 32 lat (grupa porównawcza). Uzyskane rezultaty potwierdziły stabilność bezwzględną (test-retest: 0,92 < r < 0,97), wewnętrzną zgodność (alfa Cronbacha: mistycyzm ekstrawertywny = 0,76; introwertywny = 0,72; religijna interpretacja = 0,56), trafność wewnętrzną (CMIN/df = 1,816; GFI = 0,97; AGFI = 0,93; CFI = 0,95; RMSEA = 0,05 [0,03-0,08]; PCLOSE = 0,34) i zewnętrzną (dojrzałość religijna i zdolność do medytacji o typie uważnościowym) zaadaptowanego narzędzia badawczego dla osób w wieku od 20 do 50 lat oraz jego założeń teoretycznych (model 3-czynnikowy).
Hood has created a Mysticism Scale (1975) based on the theoretical work of Stace (1961). Using the 12-item Mystical Experience (an abridged version of Hood's Mysticism Scale- Anthony, Hermans, Sterkens, 2010), the polish adaptation was developed. The psychometric properties of the Polish ME were assessed in a sample of 708 persons: 581 students of Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow 20–50 y.o. and 127 students Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow 20-32 y.o. (control group). Construct validity was examined with reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analyses and by relating the polish version of ME to others measures of religious maturity and mindfulness. The results confirmed reliability (test-retest: 0,92 < r < 0,97), internal consistency (Alfa-Cronbacha: Extravertive Mysticism = 0,76; Introvertive Mysticism = 0,72; Religious Interpretation = 0,56), internal validity (CMIN/df = 1,816; GFI = 0,97; AGFI = 0,93; CFI = 0,95; RMSEA = 0,05 [0,03-0,08]; PCLOSE = 0,34) and external validity (religious maturity and mindfulness) of Polish version of ME.

Among the features marking a mystical experience facilitated by certain kind of psychedelic substances researchers singled out the so-called noetic quality, which indicates that mystical experiences can have a cognitive significance. The main goal of my article is then to address the question, whether this cognitive capacity of mystical experience has only a subjective/psychological value, or it should be rather treated as a legitimate kind of cognition. The philosophical aspect of this issue enters the domain of ontology and epistemology, since it concerns the question, whether an object of any cognitive experience has to belong to the physical reality, or a proper cognition can be realized in the reality of symbols. In order to deal with these questions I will refer to the philosophy of H.-G. Gadamer. Even though Gadamer did not investigate altered states of consciousness, I believe his hermeneutics can support a hypothesis that altered states of consciousness provide recognition of reality of symbols.

Holy Land Experience is a religious theme park in Orlando, Florida. The city is home to some of the main theme parks in the United States, however, Holy Land Experience is not a typical one, and in official flyers it claims not to be a theme park at all, its role being, instead, educational. Holy Land Experience is a plaster replica of Jerusalem from the times of Christ, spread on 15 acres of land. At the same time, it is an interesting example of promoting spirituality using tools attributed to entertainment. Inside the theme park Christianity is shown offering a direct, emotional experience using imitations of Biblical places and events. Indeed, according to the visitors, the overwhelming artificiality of the place does not thwart religious feeling. At Holy Land Experience spiritual experience is merged with entertainment and a sense of America’s uniqueness.

The article presents a strict interpenetration of scientific discourse and literary fiction on the example of Zolaʼs La Joie de vivre. The coexistence of these discourses is part of the poetics of ambiguity, which is characteristic of the weave of literature and science, where Science opposes Doubt. The purpose of the article is to reflect on the relationship between Experience (everyday life) and Experience (scientific). This conceptual opposition is embodied in a pair of main characters: Pauline and Lazare, equipped with a different attitude to reality and science. She learns human physiology by experiencing changes in her maturing body, which appears to her as a complex, but full of secrets, beautiful machinery. He lives by fearing the body and seeing it as the source of death. He wants to defeat death by coming up with experimental designs that are supposed to make him great and bring immortality. His failures lead him to Doubt and negation of science. Zola decides nothing balancing between knowledge and doubt, affirmation of life and the inevitability of death.

The review is a polemic with the scrutiny of a Positivist paradigm by Marian Płachecki in his Wojny domowe. Szkice z antropologii słowa publicznego w dobie zaborów (1800– 1880). Płachecki states that there was no Positivism. Krzysztof Kłosiński is critical towards this thesis, pointing to a crucial error by the monograph author – using experience as a substitute for “what any given civilization thinks and how it works”, something that has been laboriously and successfully established by researchers building the “paradigm of Polish Positivism after the January Uprising”.
Dans son compte rendu, l’auteur entre en polémique avec la « lustration » du paradigme positiviste, réalisée par Marian Płachecki dans Wojny domowe. Szkice z antropologii słowa publicznego w dobie zaborów (1800–1880) [Guerres civiles. Croquis anthropologiques de la parole publique à l’époque des partages (1800–1880)]. Płachecki cherche à convaincre que le positivisme n’a jamais existé. Krzysztof Kłosiński critique cette thèse, en indiquant l’erreur dans la monographie de l’auteur consistant à substituer une expérience à ce qu’« une civilisation donnée pense et à la façon dont elle agit », et à ce qui a été instauré laborieusement et avec succès par les chercheurs élaborant « le paradigme du positivisme polonais après l’insurrection de janvier ».

Opis:
Motherhood, which includes the process of becoming and being a mother, is understood as an institution or as personal experience, and both these perspectives are interdependent. The institution of motherhood, which is necessary for the functioning of societies, shapes women’s living conditions, influences their choices, frames desirable behaviours, gives the highest priority to the social role of the mother, and limits women’s identity to a single dimension. The experience of women-mothers is juxtaposed with the idea of sacrificing oneself for the good of another human being. The stories of motherhood analysed for the purpose of this article were published on the fanpage Żałuję rodzicielstwa [I regret parenthood] and clearly indicate that being a mother can be a trajectory experience associated with overpowering suffering. Women’s experiences were inscribed in the subsequent phases of a trajectory process identified by F. Schütze and G. Reimann, and the reflection on those experiences leads, among other things, to the conclusion that both mothers who have undertaken biographical work on their own experiences, as well as those who have not done so, most often organise their further life with the trajectory in the background, without fundamentally changing their personal situation.
Macierzyństwo, które obejmuje proces stawania się i bycia matką, ujmowane jest jako instytucja lub osobiste doświadczenie, a obie te perspektywy pozostają ze sobą w zależności. Instytucja macierzyństwa będąca tworem niezbędnym dla funkcjonowania społeczeństwa, kształtuje warunki życia kobiet, wpływa na ich wybory, wyznacza ramy pożądanych zachowań, nadaje najwyższą rangę roli społecznej matki i zawęża tożsamość kobiet do jednego wymiaru. Z ideą poświęcenia siebie dla dobra drugiego człowieka konfrontowane są doświadczenia kobiet-matek. Analizowane na potrzeby niniejszego tekstu historie dotyczące macierzyństwa opublikowane zostały na fanpage’u Żałuję rodzicielstwa i w jednoznaczny sposób wskazują na to, że bycie matką może być doświadczeniem trajektoryjnym, związanym ze zniewalającym cierpieniem. Przeżycia kobiet wpisane zostały w wyróżnione przez F. Schütze i G. Reimanna kolejne fazy procesu trajektoryjnego, a refleksja nad nimi prowadzi m.in. do wniosku, że zarówno matki, które podjęły biograficzną pracę nad własnymi doświadczeniami, jak i te, które tego nie zrobiły w konsekwencji i tak najczęściej organizują swoje dalsze życie z trajektorią w tle, nie zmieniając zasadniczo osobistej sytuacji.

The article is a theoretical proposition for a new research category applied to descriptions of diseases within cultural texts. The author proposes a category tying together spatiality and disease, hence the concept of infirmary, which testifies to the complex relationships between space and the experience of illness, or more generally, medical experience, or between the place and the existence of a diseased person, the topography of medical experience. The word „infirmary” will at first glance evoke images of sickbay, i.e. the place for individuals suffering from a medical condition, where they are provided with treatment, and the locus of norm-transgression (that is to say, the norms of the sane society), as well as of stigmatization practices concerning the individual transgressors or deviants, and also of whatever actions are performed on those very individuals (for example, at the hands of doctors or medical personnel). In a nutshell, the concept will evoke all the forms of experience connected with health, disease, treatment practice (both in terms of those providing treatment and those being treated). The infirmary text will be a concept bringing together the narratives of a specific medical experience and the place/space, merging the discourse of disease (but also of health) with a spatial perspective. When speaking of infirmary text, we enter a very broad and multidimensional area situated between literature and medicine. An infirmary text is not limited to all spatial narratives concerning medical experiences, but also touches on extreme emotional experience (the power of affect), the diseases of soma and psyche, the medical institutions and the professional and social roles within their premises, the histories of diseases (especially in the form of autobiographical narratives), affective constructs in which emotions carry the role of „playing the part” of the world and constituting identities.

In the twentieth century, due to the development of mechanical reproduction and press, photomontage became a popular means of communication – popular and diverse in its nature and methods of exploitation (considering press in Germany or in the Soviet Union and individual works of art). It is one of the cultural phenomena related to the change of rhythm of life and a sense of its increased pace, and an impression of fragmentation of reality. This article questions the role of photomontage in such an experience. The said role is complex: sometimes photomontage allows for expression of that experience, and sometimes it is meant to evoke it, in the spirit of modernity; it is both a tool of agitation and critique. In order to answer this question I shall assume the approach of Walter Benjamin, who diagnoses the crisis of experience and the loss of storytelling skills – and describes the potential of photography. This potential is differently approached by artists and scholars who point out contradictory purposes and results of using photomontage. Referring to various works of art shall make it possible to define the tensions characteristic of photomontage. Due to its plasticity and the ambiguity of a photograph, and the potential for (de)contextualization and (de)construction, photomontage can function in a hard to understand, rapidly changing world and address the fragmentation of experience.

The aim of the article is to discuss the specifics of human actions and decision-making processes from the psychopathological perspective. The concepts of action and decision making are reported in the context of human experience and the experiential structure of self-determination. The starting point is provided by considerations related to the notion of mental illness as described by Lennart Nordenfelt, as well as Antoni Kępiński’s concept of informational metabolism. The consequences of and changes to decision-making processes in mental disorders will be presented on the example of depressive experience. Decision-making process can be understood in terms of three-dimensional pre-reflexive experience that undergoes changes in depressive patients: space of possibility, sense of agency and time experience. The analysis will allow us to better understand the structure of experience attributable to people suffering from depression.

The work begins by asking the questions of how contemporary phenomenology is concerned with music, and how phenomenological descriptions of music and musical experiences are helpful in grasping the concreteness of these experiences. I then proceed with minor findings from phenomenological authorities, who seem to somehow need music to explain their phenomenology. From Maurice Merleau-Ponty to Jean-Luc Nancy and back to Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger, there are musical findings to be asserted. I propose to look at phenomenological studies of the musical aspects of existence as they appear in various philosophical works bringing together different accounts of music and aesthetics and pointing towards phenomenological study as a methodology for everyday aesthetics. While there are many different areas of music phenomenology such as studies of sound and listening, studies in perception of musical works, in experience of artistic creation, in singing and playing musical instruments, and phenomenology of transcendent or religious horizons of the experience of music, it is most promising—I suggest—to look at phenomenological studies of music from the perspective of everyday happenings and discoveries of musical aspects of life. Thus, I attempt to display the uses of phenomenology in finding musical aspects of everyday existence as well as in describing and illuminating the art of music. A look at Roman Ingarden’s and Mikel Dufrenne’s most intuitive and promising ideas will be broadened with a perspective from Don Ihde and Arnold Berleant.

The huge number of interpretations and approaches to religious experiences makes discourse in the scientific studies of religion on the scope and significance of these phenomena extremely difficult. Especially misleading is the identification of them with mystical experiences, as well as attempts to depreciate these types of experience that are alien to researchers. A possible solution is the introduction of a differentiated scale of religious experiences in which mystical experiences constitute their “climactic”, emotionally and cognitively most intensive form. Acknowledging Otto’s definition of sensus numinis, the content of the experience and its cognitive, motivational and physiological components become a problem. In this situation most promising is on the one hand the classical conception of Joachim Wach, which orders the discourse and proposes recognising research on religious experiences with one of the main disciplines of religious studies, and on the other Abraham Maslow’s concept of “peak experiences” and “plateau experiences”. Therefore, (1) religious experience is graded; (2) it is not exclusively the sense itself (sensus numinis), since it brings cognitive and volitional effects, (3) it need not have a personal character and (4) experiencing it usually leads to various, more or less successful attempts to express it, and this then happens by means of symbols and is organised in the form of myths.

Foreign language anxiety (FLA) has long been recognized as a factor that hinders the process of foreign language learning at all levels. Among numerous FLA sources identified in the literature, language classroom seems to be of particular interest and significance, especially in the formal language learning context, where the course and the teacher are often the only representatives of language. The main purpose of the study is to determine the presence and potential sources of foreign language anxiety among first year university students and to explore how high anxiety levels shape and affect students’ foreign language learning experience. In the study both the questionnaire and the interviews were used as the data collection methods. Thematic analysis of the interviews and descriptive statistics suggest that most anxiety-provoking situations stem from the language classroom itself.

The article sets out with the theory of “aesthetics of reality” (created by Maria Gołaszewska) and its related method of transferring artistic structures onto non-artistic reality. The resulting construct, which is dubbed a para-artistic structure, becomes the theoretical basis for the aesthetic experience of nature. The so-called “formalization”—a procedure which consists in inserting nature into artistic frameworks—makes natural phenomena acquire a pretense of artwork. Nature as a picture becomes a landscape, while terms connected with the aesthetics of nature gain artistic qualities, enabling use of such notions as picturesque or kitsch. The methodological proposal by Gołaszewska is subsequently compared with the critical perspective of environmental aesthetics.

The phenomenon of sport, especially its popularity and significance, strongly marks the contemporary world. This text is an attempt to describe sports experience (especially football) as a value for a fan experiencing it. It is not an analysis of sport in the philosophical perspective usually concentrating on its ethical or anthropological aspects. That is why the author analyses here, among other things, its identity, aesthetic and egalitarian character, touching upon such important phenomena as patriotic feelings in the context of sport, its media dimension or the problems with stadium hooligans. Finally, to emphasize the research problem outlined in this way, the author discusses the thesis of striking similarities between sports experience and religious experience formulated repeatedly in the present debate over contemporary forms of global secularization.

The main focus of this paper is to examine the translation strategies of the translators of Herta Müller’s novel Atemschaukel, Radka Denemarková (Czech) and Katarzyna Leszczyńska (Polish). The aim is to find out to what extent the cultural experience of these translators, consisting of biographical, artistic and linguistic aspects, has influenced the translations. Important in this context is the transculturalism of the author Herta Müller. She uses idiomatic expressions and uses borrowings and a multitude of neologisms, the translation of which is influenced to varying degrees by the cultural experience of the translators in their search for equivalence at the level of expression.

This research is the content analysis of 502 Erasmus students’ experiences published in the website www.20erasmus.eu. One of the main purposes of the Erasmus Student Exchange Program is to maintain across-cultural dialogue through student activity, to remove preju-dices and thus to strengthen interaction and join EU citizens under such concepts as “Euro-pean Consciousness” and “Being European”. The purpose of this study is to determine how successful the Erasmus Student Exchange Program is through the shared Erasmus expe-riences of the participating students. in conclusion, in this research, it is observed that the students talked highly positively about the Erasmus experience. The students described this process as enjoyable and produc-tive. it could be argued that the Erasmus experience contributed to students’ “individual development” rather than “academic development”. it could also be maintained that one of the key purposes of the Erasmus exchange program is to remove prejudices by mainta-ining student mobility and cross-cultural dialogue and to unite societies under the European Consciousness and European People understanding via strengthening interactions between EU member citizens. Data collected in this research present evidence that the Erasmus pro-gramme has reached this aim.

One of the best known economic theories of the early 21st c. is Pine & Gilmore’s of the experience economy (1999). This is nothing new for the tourism industry which has always been selling emotions, dreams and memories involving travel. Recently, however, it has become much more important to provide professionally (consciously and purposefully) prepared tourism products, strongly marked with emotion1. Efforts to create original experiences for tourists include not only various modifications of traditional tourism packages, but also a search for new recreation spaces and new forms of tourism. The aim of this article is to review new tourism-recreational areas (e.g. military areas, new churches, so-called ‘destination centres’, along with ordinary and extreme experience spaces), as well as new forms of travel and recreation (e.g. creative, event, sports, culinary or extreme tourism). The analysis includes those phenomena which above all are currently gaining in popularity as part of the tourist experience triad (WŁODARCZYK 2013).

This paper asserts that the growing expansion of the micro realm of social activity calls for the exploration of everyday experience, seen as ranging from the most extraordinary to the most ordinary. The paper focuses on two constitutive features of the ordinary type of experience, namely, normality and boredom. It conceptualizes normality as an outcome of people’s potential to construct meaning of their ordinary experiences and boredom as a state signaling our inability to realize this desire. Both types of ordinary experience are in the core of everyday life and thus their consequences can be detrimental to the quality of social life. This paper’s discussion of normality and boredom includes both sociological and literary works where these two phenomena find their rich expression.

There are data showing clinical experience as disadvantageous for the quality of mental health assessment. On the other hand, according to American Psychological Association standards of evidence-based practice in psychology, clinical experience is one of the fundamental factors in professional psychological practice. The paper presents this controversy in the context of relevant psychological knowledge and empirical data. The conclusions are as follows: (1) the valuable input that clinical experience may bring to mental health assessment is intuitive thinking; (2) habitual cognitive errors and mindlessness, which are the possible side effects of long-lasting diagnostic practice, can be reduced by means of careful self-monitoring of the assessment process. A practical self-monitoring procedure is suggested.

In his theory of aesthetic experience, Richard Schaeffler proposes the synthesis of transcendental and historical reflection. The aesthetic experience is an a priori and historically conditioned dialogue with reality. Transcendental philosophy asserts that the a priori structures of reason enable the constitution of the object of experience. Historical philosophy, on the other hand, claims that these structures are historical and contingent. According to Schaeffler, these structures change under the influence of the content of aesthetic experiences, namely paradoxical content. Under the influence of these paradoxes, the structures of aesthetic consciousness are modified. The changes in the structures of consciousness cause the aesthetic experience (and any human experience) to asymptotically approach reality. W swojej teorii doświadczenia estetycznego Richard Schaeffler proponuje syntezę refleksji transcendentalnej i historycznej. Doświadczenie estetyczne jest a priori i historycznie uwarunkowanym dialogiem z rzeczywistością. Filozofia transcendentalna twierdzi, że a priori struktury rozumu umożliwiają ukonstytuowanie się przedmiotu doświadczenia. W przeciwieństwie do tego filozofia historyczna twierdzi, że struktury te są historyczne i przygodne. Według Schaefflera struktury te zmieniają się pod wpływem treści przeżyć estetycznych, czyli treści paradoksalnych. Pod wpływem tych paradoksów modyfikowane są struktury świadomości estetycznej. Zmiany w strukturach świadomości powodują, że doświadczenie estetyczne (i każde doświadczenie ludzkie) asymptotycznie zbliża się do rzeczywistości. Transzendentalität und Geschichtlichkeit der Ästhetischen Erfahrung. Die Konception von Richard Schaeffler Richard Schaeffler schlägt in seiner Theorie der ästhetischen Erfahrung die Synthese von transzendentaler und historischer Reflexion vor. Die ästhetische Erfahrung ist ein apriorisch und geschichtlich bedingter Dialog mit der Wirklichkeit. Die transzendentale Philosophie behauptet, dass die apriorischen Strukturen der Vernunft die Konstitution des Gegenstands von Erfahrung ermöglichen. Die historische Philosophie behauptet dagegen, dass diese Strukturen geschichtlich und kontingent sind. Nach Schaeffler verändern sich diese Strukturen unter den Einfluss der Inhalte von ästhetischen Erfahrungen, u.z. paradoxen Inhalte. Unter Einfluss dieser Paradoxe kommt es zur Modifizierung der Strukturen des ästhetischen Bewusstseins. Die Veränderungen der Strukturen des Bewusstseins bewirken, dass sich die ästhetische Erfahrung (und jede menschliche Erfahrung) asymptotisch der Wirklichkeit nähert.

In my article I reconstruct the main threads of Robert Stalnaker’s book Our Knowledge of the Internal World, which focuses on the problem of our epistemic relation to our experience and the relation between experience and knowledge. First, the book proposes an interesting view of externalism, which combines classical externalist claims with a contextualist approach to content ascriptions. The approach accommodates some important internalist intuitions by showing how content ascriptions can be sensitive to the perspective from which a subject perceives the world. Second, Stalnaker proposes a theory of selflocating and phenomenal knowledge, which should be understood in terms of differentiating between real possibilities. The puzzling upshot of this elegant solution is that it commits one to the existence of possibilities accessible only from the first-person perspective. Finally, Stalnaker presents an argument which shows that our knowledge about our phenomenal experience is no more direct than the knowledge about external objects. Stalnaker’s claim that by merely having an experience we don’t learn any new information seems, however, too strict in light of his contextualist approach to content ascriptions.

The article deals with relational aspects of mental disorders. The author takes into account the influence of mental illness on intersubjectivity and interpersonal relations in three aspects: (1) “attitude to the illness,” that is, changes in the functioning of the subject and difficulties in dealing with the experience of mental illness; (2) “dialogical relationship” in the form of difficulties in maintaining social cognition and entering into relationships with others; (3) “social consensus,” that is, difficulties in adapting to the social world and a common sense deficit. The analysis is made with reference to phenomenological research in contemporary philosophy of psychiatry. The result of this study is a reconstruction of a “different existence,” in other words, presentation of the transformation of the life-world and the specific way of inhabiting the world of a person in a mental crisis. Symptoms and experience of the illness are presented in the light of human possibilities of transformation. The analysis emphasizes the role of patients’ subjectivity and their efforts to find the meaning of a painful situation. The study of subjective aspects of disorders aims to reveal their consequences for understanding how to deal with mental crisis and to understand the positive aspects of the recovery process.

Twelve teachers of English representing three groups of different seniority: pre-service, freshmen and senior responded to the anxiety questionnaire to establish the relationship between the anxiety level and their teaching experience. The senior group is reported to have experienced less anxiety than other teachers. Some influential factors which determine a level of this specific anxiety were identified, for example expectations towards their work, autonomy in taking deci- sions, interactions with authorities, superiors and students. Finally, the article discusses practical ways of coping with teacher anxiety in a classroom.

Purpose: The technological progress of production processes causes changes in the social structure of work, i.e. modifies the content of most, if not all, workplaces. In that respect, the identification of changes in the intensity of creativeness, the level of education, and the experience of employees in production processes and occupational tasks is a particularly important issue. The article investigates the interdependence among work creativity, education, and job experience of employees of one of the municipal companies operating in Poland. Methodology: The study employs firm-level data covering over 2,200 observations. The study gathered data from three major internal sources of information: the scopes of responsibilities of organizational positions, personnel documentation regarding the individual level of education and professional experience, and the results of interviews with executive staff and employees on particular posts. The research proceedings base on document analysis, structured interviews, teamwork methods, and a classification technique. Results: Research revealed that the complexity of work increased in the company. Jobs requiring higher levels of creativity are occupied by employees with relatively higher education. However, their average level of education in the analyzed period decreased as opposed to jobs that require relatively lower levels of creativity. The analysis of interdependence between creativity and job experience identified that there emerged a relatively shorter average job experience for employees who perform cognitive work. Moreover, the average job experience increased in the group of employees who perform routine manual and non-routine cognitive work. Implications: The study refers to the job polarization issue by confirming the tendencies of labor markets. It also addresses issues concerned with technological progress, although they are not confirmed by research in this paper. Originality/Value: The main contribution of the paper is the interesting dataset gathered. Furthermore, the paper addresses an interesting question where empirical research at the firm level is lacking, particularly municipal company.

The demographic changes taking place in the most developed countries in Europe show a dynamic process of aging societies. Seniors (i.e. according to WHO, people over 65 years of age) are sometimes affected due to the limiting conditions of constantly progressing social changes. One of the most significant transformations is the presence of media in the everyday life of individuals. Development of technology and media communication lead to the spread of the mediatization of social reality. Many media recipients build their idea of the world based on what they learn from the mass media. It then influences their understanding of themselves and their role in the world. The purpose of this article is to analyse mediatization as a social process and to explain how it affects older people's experience of the media.

The works of the philosophers of existence often address illness and health in the context of a (difficult to describe) existential experience. In this paper I will argue the following thesis: one of the strategies chosen by the authors whose aim is to characterise an existential experience is to present it by referring to the category of illness. This strategy involves, first and foremost, presenting the similarity between the existential experience and an illness; while at the same time, emphasising that the existential experience is not an illness (although of course, the existential experience may be a consequence of experiencing an illness). To support my basic thesis, I will draw from the works of Albert Camus, Lev Shestov and other philosophers of existence, as well as from literary works. In the article, I will provide an interpretation of Albert Camus’ short story “Jonas, or the Artist at Work”. I will discuss the basic characteristics of the existential experience, focusing on those that are similar to the symptoms of illness. I will also formulate a number of general remarks which concern the existential experience.

Customer experience studies are an important component of research portfolio of every significant research agency. The main goal of this article is to show the key areas for CX and types of research which conducted in the field. The article also features two latest tools examining customer experience developed by Kantar research agency: the qualitative tool based on gamification - "Our City" and the quantitative one called CX+. The underlying premises of both tools and the areas of applications with their unique contribution in the CX research process have been described as well.
Badania customer experience stanowią ważny punkt oferty każdej liczącej się agencji badawczej. Głównym celem artykułu jest pokazanie obszarów kluczowych z punktu widzenia CX i rodzajów badań w nich prowadzonych. Dodatkowo przedstawione zostały dwa najnowsze narzędzia do badania customer experience rozwijane przez agencję badawczą Kantar: oparte na grywalizacji jakościowe „Nasze Miasto” oraz ilościowe CX+. Opisano założenia stojące za obydwoma narzędziami i wskazano obszary zastosowań wraz z zaznaczeniem ich unikalnego wkładu w procesy badania CX.

The study examined the relationships between work experience and (a) safety perceptions, (b) job satisfaction, (c) compliance with safety management policies and (d) accident frequency. Participants were Ghanaian industrial workers (N = 320). They were divided into 2 cohorts: experienced and inexperienced workers. Workplace safety perceptions were assessed with Hayes et al.’s 50-item work safety scale. MANOVA was used to test for differences of statistical significance. Posterior comparison with t test consistently revealed significant differences between experienced cohorts and their inexperienced counterparts. Experienced workers indicated the best perceptions on safety, expressed the highest level of job satisfaction, were the most compliant with safety procedures and recorded the lowest accident frequency. From a practical perspective, analysing differences in work experience in relation to safety perceptions could be useful for organizations as the workersʼ experience could indicate a need for special safety programmes for particular groups.

Opis:
This conceptual article aims to explore the process of providing hotel services in the context of requirements arising from the experience economy. Both the concept of experience marketing and the concept of customer experience management provided a theoretical framework for the discussion. Based on a review of literature and conclusions derived from hotel managers’ experiences, a research model is proposed, which may be of some importance for researchers, as it may serve as a basis for future studies relating to hotel services. On the other hand, as far as practitioners are concerned, this model may be a starting point for developing a range of hotel services that stand out in the market and fully meet the expectations of contemporary customers, who are orientated towards extraordinary experience. The developed model demonstrates that hotel services consist of many so-called touch points where experiences should be examined, and each of these moments of contact with the brand should be incorporated into an integrated process of hotel guest experience management.
Celem artykułu jest eksploracja procesu świadczenia usługi hotelarskiej w kontekście wymagań wynikających z realiów gospodarki doświadczeń. Ramy teoretyczne dla prowadzonych rozważań stanowiły: koncepcja marketingu doświadczeń i koncepcja zarządzania doświadczeniem klienta. Na podstawie przeglądu piśmiennictwa i wniosków wynikających z doświadczeń menadżerów hoteli, zaproponowano model badawczy, który dla naukowców może stanowić podstawę przyszłych badań dotyczących usług hotelarskich. Z kolei dla praktyków model ten może stanowić punkt wyjścia przy kształtowaniu takiej oferty hoteli, które silnie będą wyróżniać się na rynku i w pełni spełnią oczekiwania współczesnych klientów, ukierunkowanych na zdobywanie wyjątkowych doświadczeń. Zbudowany model pokazał, że usługi hotelarskie składają się z wielu tzw. punktów styku, w których powinno się badać doznania, a każdy z tych momentów kontaktu z marką powinien zostać włączony w zintegrowany proces zarządzania doświadczeniem gości hotelowych.
Цель статьи – изучить процесс предоставления гостиничной услуги в контексте требований, вытекающих из реалий экономики опыта. Теоретические рамки для проводимых рассуждений представляла концепция маркетинга опы- та и концепция управления клиентским опытом. На основе обзора литературы и выводов, вытекающих из опыта менеджеров гостиниц, предложили исследовательскую модель, которая для научных работников может быть основой будущего изучения гостиничных услуг. С другой стороны, для практиков эта модель может быть отправной точкой при формировании такого предложения гостиниц, которые будут сильно выделяться на рынке и полностью выполнят ожидания современных клиентов, нацеленных на приобретение исключительного опыта. Построенная модель показала, что гостиничные услуги состоят из многих так называемых точек соприкосновения, в которых следует изучать впечатления, а каждая из этих точек соприкосновения с маркой должна быть включена в интегрированный процесс управления опытом гостиничных гостей.

W społeczeństwach nowoczesnych, w odróżnieniu od tradycyjnych, religijna interpretacja życia codziennego nie jest już tak oczywista i powszechna, jak to było kiedyś. Socjologowie religii zgodnie zdają się twierdzić, iż tożsamość duchowa jednostek i grup przestaje być budowana na gruncie wartości religijnych, a coraz częściej w oparciu o treści, które lansują nowoczesne media. To nowe technologie, świat cyfrowy przeobrażają społeczeństwa i zmieniają optykę postrzegania oraz ocenę zarówno rzeczywistości materialnej, jak i niematerialnej, by niekiedy wprost zakwestionować transcendentny Autorytet. W kontekście tychże zmian zasadne wydaje się dziś pytanie o istotę i miejsce doświadczenia religijnego w życiu jednostki i o jej stosunek do sacrum. Stąd też kluczowym przedmiotem niniejszego opracowania jest owa dymensja religijności – zaproponowana przed laty przez Glocka i Starka – która najbardziej wymyka się prostym, statystycznym analizom i opisom, a będąc silnie spersonalizowana, jednocześnie wskazuje na głębokie przeżycia wewnętrzne. Jednak mimo tego, iż doświadczenie religijne – pozostając jednym z najintensywniejszych doznań, a te, jak wiadomo, są trudne badawczo do uchwycenia – najczęściej lokuje się w obszarze eksploracji psychologii, to przecież posiada również uwarunkowania społeczne, stając się także przedmiotem zainteresowania socjologii. Potwierdzają to przywołane orientacje teoretyczne i empiryczne, które dodatkowo dowodzą złożoności oraz wielowymiarowości tegoż zjawiska.
In modern societies, unlike traditional ones, the religious interpretation of everyday life is no longer as obvious and common as it used to be. Sociologists of religion seem to agree that the spiritual identity of individuals and groups is no longer built on religious values, but more and more often on the content disseminated by modern media. It is new technologies and the digital world that transform societies, changing the optics of perception and assessment of both material and immaterial reality. Media-based content sometimes directly questions the transcendent Authority. In the context of these changes, it seems reasonable to ask about the essence and place of religious experience in the life of a contemporary individual, and about their relationship to the sacred. Hence, the key subject of this study is the dimension of religiosity – as proposed years ago by Glock and Stark – which eludes simplex, statistical analysis and description. Being strongly subjective, it pinpoints to deeper inner experiences. Religious experience – as one of the most intense human experiences, and the one known to be most difficult to research – is most often located in the area of psychological explorations. Nonetheless, it is subject to complex social conditioning as well, which makes it a legitimate object of sociological investigations. This is confirmed by the referenced theoretical and empirical orientations, which additionally prove the complexity and multidimensionality of the phenomenon under study.

The aim of the article is to show the role of various metaphorical practices that are a dominant structural feature of Andrzej Stasiuk’s prose, used to construct his textual reality. Comparisons, metaphorical statements, and enumerations represent textual figures that transform the described experience of the world from the perspective of the speaking subject, subjectivising and constructing reality, rather than merely representing it. In both his novels and feuilletons, Stasiuk relates his experiences of the world in different temporal orders, constructing them on a textual level. Yet his thoroughly subjective prose preserves the conventions of realism. At the same time, Stasiuk quite often refers to the genre of the road novel, both in his fiction and in his journalism. Textual figures of experience are his basic means of describing the presented world.

Pierre Hadot’s legacy is a vision of ancient philosophy not only as a system of abstract concepts and logical procedures but as a practical philosophical methodology. A key element of this interpretation is consideration of ancient philosophical practice as a series of spiritual exercises to improve one’s own life. The present paper aims to show, more humbly, that by highlighting the aesthetic dimension of the practice of gardening we can consider it part of the set of philosophically charged spiritual exercises. Gardening supports the improvement of one’s own experience of the world through the meeting of different temporal experiences. The appropriation of such different temporal nuances in stark contrast to the accelerated pace of modern life, or periods of tiresome repetition, makes it possible to question one’s own rhythm in the world. In other words, I defend the thesis that horticulture can be considered therapeutic also from a philosophical perspective.

Doświadczenie estetyczne i doświadczenie mistyczne są podobne w trzech etapach rozwoju. W pierwszym chodzi o skupienie uwagi na szczególe. Artysta czyni to w stosunku do używanego elementu otaczającej rzeczywistości, przez wydobywanie z niego czegoś szczególnego, z kolei mistyk szuka w świecie natury ślady Boga. W drugim etapie artysta odsuwa od siebie to, co go rozprasza, a także on uwalnia się od artystycznych konwencji, aby tworzyć swe zamierzone dzieło w sposób oryginalny. Z kolei mistyk oczyszcza się ze swoich słabości i przywiązania do świata. W trzecim etapie artysta może kontemplować swe dzieło, a mistyk jest w stanie doświadczać obecności Boga. Chwilowa satysfakcja artysty mija. A w jej miejsce wsącza się poczucie nieadekwatności między zamierzonym pomysłem a jego nieudolnym urzeczywistnieniem w ograniczonej formie. Natomiast mistyk, po chwilowym doświadczeniu obecności Boga, jest świadomy, że przedmiot jego pragnienia przekracza granice wszelkiej możliwości poznania. Piękno i Bóg jawią się jako dwa imiona Jednego.
Aesthetic experience and mystical experience are similar in three stages of development. The first is to focus attention on detail. The artist does this in relation to the used element of the surrounding reality by bringing out something special in it, while the mystic seeks God's footprints in the natural world. In the second stage, the artist pushes away what distracts him, and he also frees himself from artistic conventions to create his intended work in an original way. In turn, the mystic cleanses himself of his weaknesses and attachment to the world. In the third stage, the artist can contemplate his work, and the mystic is able to experience the presence of God. The artist's temporary satisfaction passes. And in its place there is a sense of inadequacy between the intended idea and its inefficient implementation in a limited form. On the other hand, the mystic, after a moment's experience of God's presence, is aware that the object of his desire exceeds the limits of all possibilities of knowledge. Beauty and God appear as the two names of the One.

Opis:
Designing classes with the contribution of students who experienced migration and those without similar experiences becomes a didactic, pedagogical and cul-tural challenge. The aim of this paper is to analyse such phenomena in culture, which may provide inspiration for teachers as to how to think about teaching Polish culture in primary and secondary schools. The field for investigation is defined by the categories of transmediality and transculturality, since in the au-thor’s opinion the constant experiencing of transmediality and transmedia sto-rytelling in culture results in transcultural experiences. The author’s delibera-tions are based on examples from experimental poetry, forum theatre and am-bient literature.

The paper reviews and attempts to define artistic practices implemented in the areas of science, technology and business – perceived as research tools and used as a medium in communicating the results of scientific research. In order to achieve the assumed goal, the examples of selected artistic practices conducted by scientists and curators working for scientific, research and cultural heritage institutions as well as artists operating on the verge of art and science have been presented. The aspect related to the impact of contemporary arts in the public space has also been discussed. The preliminary analysis of these examples helped formulate the thesis about the growing role of artistic practices as research tools and the medium of communication in many fields of science, institutional and non‑institutional practices not directly related to the area of art.

Problematyka prowadzonych w niniejszym artykule rozważań skupia się wokół inteligentnych specjalizacji i ich roli w realizacji planów rozwojowych, opartych na zasadach inteligentnego, zrównoważonego i włączającego społecznie wzrostu, analizowanych w kontekście desing user experience. W artykule założono, że UX (user experience), jako inteligentna technologia kreacyjna, ma szansę być zarówno źródłem innowacji, jak i efektywnym narzędziem upowszechniania innowacji. W artykule wykorzystano analizę teoretyczną, dzięki której ustalono instrumenty przydatne w projektowaniu prodyfuzyjnego środowiska społecznego. Poczynione ustalenia teoretyczne należy traktować jako wskazania do działań praktycznych.
The main subject of this considerations focus on the smart specialization and their role in implementation of development plans based on the principles of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, analyzed in the context of design user experience. This article assumes that the UX as the smart creative technology is likely to be both, a source of innovation, and an effective tool for promoting innovation. Used theoretical analysis, which has established instruments useful in the design of pro-diffusion social environment. Theoretical assumptions should be treated as indications of practical actions.

The aim of this study is to investigate the potential of the Polish market for the development of the supply-side of controversial forms of tourism, based on the opinions and products offered by tour operators and retail travel agents. Analytical data were collected using desk research and CATI (N=107) methods. The most common controversial types of tourism include drug and sex tourism, followed by disaster tourism, medical tourism, slum tourism, fan tourism and poverty tourism. The expectations of customers regarding tourism offers usually focus on party tourism and extreme travel, and the providers highlight that this market segment will continue to develop.

Opis:
Aim.  The aim is to depict specificy of fieldnotes  as a first result of research experience are standing between perception which obviously has to be personal (even if it's based on non-individual experience) and text which main feature is to be intersubjectively understandable. Method. The study is based on experience of conducting collaborative fieldwork and writing common fieldnotes. Paper itself is also an example of collaborative work - written together is an opportunity to share theoretical perspective on team research grounded in fieldwork experience in process. Resullt and Conclusions. Fieldnotes as a part of fieldwork process are first step of translation from subjective experience to objective knowledge. In the case of collaborative writing, unlike in the case of report where the final research result is presented which can have the form of general, conclusion, fieldnotes are much more dynamic – become domain of negotiation revealing crucial points of collective fieldwork experience.

This essay explores the modernist aesthetic involved in creating a fictive, nostalgic, childhood experience. Evoking the experience of childhood through fiction is as close to actually reliving childhood as we can get. The author argues that it is possible to actually transport the reader into not only the idealized world of childhood, but more so into an embodied experience of childhood through the use of different kinds of narrative and stylistic configurations. In a stylistic and narratological analysis of three modernist novels, Virginia Woolf’s The Waves (1931), Tarjei Vesaas’ The Ice Palace [Is-slottet] (1963) and William Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury (1929), the author explores the different ways that literature can create (or re-create) the very experience of childhood through literary style. The strategies involved in establishing a fictive experience of childhood extend from narratological choices such as free indirect style, strict focalization through a child in the narrative (which implies limitations in perception and cognitive abilities, as well as in linguistic terms) to the use of a child-like temporality, the hyperbolic use of phenomena, and an emphasis of the sensorial aspects of perception.

Opis:
The study of design practices in aesthetic terms (aesthetization and aesthetic experience) may appear, seemingly, trivial and irrelevant. However, the human environment today is in such a fundamental transition that failure to take account of this aspect is unfounded. The aim of design is primarily to produce artefacts, to transform them into a natural environment, but also, perhaps even above all, to maintain a balanced relationship between the ecosphere and the “artificial” human world, created and orchestrated for him. It is not just about designing an object, a system, an interaction or relationship that guarantees simplicity and efficiency, that is, a defined utility, but a deeper reflection on how a particular person experiences it and what the consequences this experience brings. Therefore, the purpose of design in this article will be expanded to include an aesthetic aspect, because isolation from the aesthetic criterion (regardless of how we understand it) in contemporary design practices seems to be difficult to maintain.

The aim of the article is to analyse the experience of providing social protection of population in the countries with socially oriented market economies for further implementation in Ukraine and other countries, which are in need of the social welfare reform. The need for social protection of population has been proved. It is noted that the modern social protection system should include a set of social guarantees, forms, methods and instruments of social assistance. The state’s social expenditures in the countries that are members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development are analysed. It is established that the social sphere of different countries is characterised by certain features of social welfare, which are caused by unequal level of state regulation and are reflected in relevant state policy. Basic models of social policy are described. The global experience of social welfare in the countries with socially oriented market economy is analysed. The main determinants of social protection of population in the world practice as well as measures, which contribute to the development of the social sphere are identified.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to make an attempt at discovering how events, as a communication channel of event marketing, complement promotional strategies of towns and regions through their psychological impact on tourists. The study is based on the concept of event marketing, which emphasises the undeniable role of emotions and experiences in the process of satisfying social needs. It can be assumed that the presented conclusions are true for all events dedicated to tourist promotion of the region. Providing theoretical foundations, the article demonstrates that self-government units are ever more often using event-based strategies, since they increasingly employ the model of competition in the tourism market based on tourists’ emotions and experiences rather than on the material resources of the place.
