Opis:
In the light of recent world facts, there has been growing attention paid to refugee minors who, fleeing from violence, war, poverty and climate change, or seeking better opportunities, hope to reach safety in Europe. Challenging life experiences such as war, violence, forced displacement, etc., can potentially threaten children’s development. However, many succeed in turning their lives around and develop well despite such negative circumstances. Refugee children, often overlooked by immigration laws and policy makers, prove to be a particularly resilient group, very resourceful in mechanisms for overcoming life adversities. By taking this understanding of refugee minors as a starting point, this article provides an overview of research in the field of resilience, aiming to discuss the implications that tie refugee minors’ well-being to the human and children’s rights obligations that society bears towards them. The article concludes that there is an urgent need for interventions and programs which target factors that promote refugee children’s resilience in their design and implementation, informed by current knowledge of refugee children’s life and cultural background, and their self-ratings of negative and positive life events. The standards defined by human and children’s rights instruments and equity regarding children’s rights to achieve a good life should be a matter to be taken seriously for all children worldwide.

At present, there are a large number of manufacturers operating on the market, which are engaged in the production and distribution of mechatronic and robotic toys. These toys range from the cheapest and simplest to sophisticated costly models for play education. Looking at the market offer, it can be stated that mechatronic toys are being produced, which are intended for children of several months. When developing children’s and educational robotics, it is, therefore, necessary to take into account the psychomotor development of the child. Respecting or not respecting it has a major impact on the success of the toy for the consumer and the fulfillment of the educational goal for which it is intended. Last but not least, in connection with the child’s development, the question arises as to what ergonomic principles, when designing toys intended for children depending on age, need to be respected and implemented into solutions to eliminate problems related to the development of children’s and educational robotics. The subject of interest in the article is the age groups of children from birth to preschool age. The aim of the article is to identify which factors in the construction of children’s robotic toys for the youngest children up to the period of preschool age are key from the point of view of ergonomics.

Article is deeply rooted in the history of society, presents the historical and socio-cultural situation of phenomenon of playing, children’s games and the role of children’s literature between the Enlightenment and Romanticism and shows that especially the middle class does not occupy an outstanding position. On the contrary, the middle class belongs to the most sceptical social forces. The central values of the middle class – especially the puritan, Calvinist und pietistic parts of it – are different: industriousness, diligence, asceticism, the sacrifice of pleasure, efficiency and rationality. In the bourgeois use of time, all idleness basically counts as suspicious, all playing as a useless waste of time. This attitude is reinforced by the polemical delimitation from the noble and courtly lifestyle, in which all kinds of games have a central place and which, for this reason, is viewed as parasitic. Article pays attention also to the German word for play or game (in German, there is just one word for this, “Spiel”), which can be used for mental games, word play, but also the performance on stage or in an orchestra. Beyond this, text emphasised how to classify genres based on play with language, with sense and nonsense, as well as literary patterns, and genres such as nonsense poetry and parody, as part of intellectual culture rather than part of play culture.

Opis:
Children’s literature and art activities are not only useful for creativity but also quite functional for education through new understanding in the contemporary perspectives about learning. For instance, philosophy for children is a wide-spread methodology to reveal children’s potentials by building a “community of inquiry” at classrooms. Children’s books and animations can provide a magnificent starting point for those philosophical discussions. However, in many societies, children and young people are still underestimated that the usual point of view about children’s literature used to include ‘softer’ topics, which is likewise to be ‘censored’ compared to literature in general. All products for children have usually function to cultivate new generations according to traditional discourse underlying in society. The essential purpose of this paper is to reveal possibilities to shape traditional discourse into an expanded perspective with children utilizing discussion and critical thinking. It is supposed to analyze the artworks for children in variable ways, by embodying discourse within. In between education and entertainment, cultural products also expected to be age-appropriate. Besides the relation between adult-children distinction and all cultural products, specifically produced ‘for’ children, how children see themselves is directly related to how they interpret cultural products. In this paper, two short animations, Alike, and Ian which were watched together with a group of children in a private secondary school in Istanbul, Turkey, will be analyzed through children’s perspectives, with their expressions.

The text outlines fragments of Georgian Romani and Dom children’s reality through the prism of their everyday life and educational practices. Romani (or Roma) and Dom children are usually perceived by the majority of society as well as by national and ethnic minorities as an identical, uniform group. Their images are burdened with stereotypes and they themselves – as begging participants in public space – have become inconvenient for the majority of the society, hence excluded and marginalized. With regard to social representations, Roma and Dom children can be included in the category of “street children”, children “out of place”, “invisible” children, and children remaining “at the crossroads” of tradition and postmodernity. A portrayal of the situation of Roma and Dom minorities in Georgia reveals the reality of children in big city environments as well as the dimensions of their social exclusion and poverty. The text was written within field research: “The forgotten minorities in Georgia” conducted by the author in 2013 and 2014 in Georgia, South Caucasus.

The paper presents the results of the research on consumer experience of 6–7 year old children investigated from the child’s perspective. The authors employed the method of interview with the child about TV advertisements, using stimulus material. The authors state that children recognize TV advertisements shown for them, make a distinction between advertisements and other television programmes, and have a certain knowledge about them. The study disclosed that the child’s approach to advertising depends on adults’ behaviour. It also revealed rudiments of critical assessment of advertising, which are mainly determined by negative experience of the child itself using the advertised item. According to the authors, in order to achieve the child’s critical attitude towards consumption and advertising, the adult who is together with the child must have similar features and values.

Child rights can be considered through the different characteristics of human rights, according to the classification “3P” as Protection, Provision, and Participation. The (potential) distinction between child rights and human rights recalls the former perspective about children’s not seen as human beings. The development of the fields on childhood studies such as “children’s participation” and “agency” are also related to the concept “empowerment,” which indicates the power relations between children and grown-ups. The main purpose of this paper is to debate all those notions through the children’s own experiences by referring to various examples in the frame of Power of children as the Fourth-P right. After discussing how children have the power to “challenge the authority,” I will indicate some examples from Little Review, as a remarkable experience of children’s participation. Lastly, I will try to reveal what today’s children consider the topic of child rights by sharing the findings of a pilot research with children, which I realized in 2019 December. In this study, twelve children who were 11-year-old then, wrote their commentaries about children’s rights and the requirements to have the rights. Thus, in the final part of this paper, the rights will be addressed through children’s perspectives.

Having analysed the lyrics of more than eighty Polish children’s songs, the author couched main categories construing the image of the social world presented in them. The qualitative research revealed propaganda role of the language used in children’s songs: the features of social world (i.e. people, places, relationships, behaviours and values) that are presented in these songs often transmit strongly stereotypical and oversimplified vision of the social reality. In this sense, social education is based on manipulation in which lyrics are the main tool of symbolic violence.

The first stage of surgery is adenoidectomy.
The contemporary concept of religious education features a postulate which says that when talking with children about God, children should be treated as the subject of theological reflection. It is because children can “go on” about God, theologize, create their own theodicy and interpret the world around them in their own way. On the basis of such experiences and postulates, a new theological discipline called children’s theology – practised for many years at universities in western Europe – was created. One can distinguish its three interrelated aspects: theology of children, i.e. their own theological reflection, children’s independent theologizing; theology with children, i.e. joint theologizing involving adults and children, asking theological questions and answering them; theology for children, i.e. deduction-free introduction of children to academic theology. The third dimension is not well developed theoretically. The present article outlines a discourse on its essence, criteria for the selection of contents and the way of their conveyance, as well as its significance for such areas of practical theology as catechetics or homiletics.

In the course of the investigations, one can observe children’s communication behaviour in the dialogue, the level of language and communication skills, the specificity of the child’s thinking and the ability to negotiate or interpret meanings in a peer group. The conducted research on communication shows that for five- and six-year-old children ‘communication’ is primarily about building relationships and reciprocity of linguistic actions.

The situation of children from a migration background in Polish dormitories and boarding schools is analysed herein. It is an emerging issue, practically absent in child studies in Poland. The author refers to research that is a part of MiCreate (Migrant Children and Communities in Transforming Europe) and demonstrates that despite the growing presence of migrant children in dormitories, they are invisible within the education system. The legal gaps in regulations applying to these children as residents of dormitories are explored herein, and integrative measures are analysed to find the possible causes of their ineffectiveness. The research was conducted in a dormitory in the city of Kraków. It included interviews with the institution’s staff, participatory observations and autobiographical narrative interviews with students. This article may inspire further large-scale research into the problems of migrant children being present and living in such dormitories.

In the article authors syndrome focuses on abuse and neglect of the child is referred to as CAN - Child Abuse and Neglect. The term covers not only the active forms of maltreatment, but also various forms of passive. Abuse and neglect of the child as a non-random, knowingly (or unknowingly) conduct a parent or other person to the child who is in the society unacceptable or rejected and which impair the physical, mental and social condition and development of the child and cause his death. The most common forms of committing domestic violence against children is repeated physical and emotional abuse, verbal abuse, especially threats. It is estimated that two thirds affected are children under the age of three years. The most effective means of reducing the number of children at risk of child abuse syndrome - is prevention. It is necessary to inform the general public about the issue of child abuse and to raise general awareness of the obligation to report any suspicion of child abuse and neglect in the vicinity. In Slovakia there is a system of care for abused children, in which they engage as state as well as non-state institutions. Report case can alone a child, or a person who suspects that a child‘s development is compromised for any reason. Children are in acute cases placed in the „Center for abused children“. This device is intended for children who need special and immediate assistance. This is particularly the children mentally and physically maltreated or sexually abused by their parents or by a stranger. The main coordinator of activities in Slovakia aimed at preventing child abuse to child victims of violence and respect of children‘s rights is a non-profit organization Center Slniečko from Nitra.

The problem around which this study was constructed is the contemporary art and a person, who creates this art – an artist, and their authentic perception by the child. A modern vision of the child too often shows the artist in a distorted, incomplete or reduced way. This kind of children knowledge, based on the patterns and stereotypes, reduces the reflectivity of children, unnecessarily distorts their judgment and closes the road ahead to a full and critical participation in the world. The study is based on the analysis of interviews and children’s drawings centered around the perception of the profile of an artist by children. It results from the analysis of the research material gathered during the study that this is a stereotypical vision, and the artist is still associated with a person who remains beyond the reach of “normal” society. The conducted research shows the diversity of the types of meanings that children aged 5–7 attribute to the term “artist” and “artistry”. The naive ideas on this subject created by children prove to be a collection of beliefs of a partially common and often completely different nature. For a pedagogue, the ultimate purpose of the research is to obtain knowledge which will allow effective changes in education, in this case, in art education. The investigation of meanings which children attribute to concepts concerning the artistic phenomena may allow to create a strategy of transmission of knowledge of art history and to design the creative activities connected with the broadly-understood visual arts.

Opis:
Heteronormativity refers to a rigorous social gender order in which the only assumed and accepted gender division is between male and female. Non-heteronormativity implies a loosening of the social gender dichotomy. Both the concepts of heteronormativity and non-heteronormativity in relation to children are rarely used, probably because of prevailing notions of an essentially asexual and unproblematically heteronormative, ‘natural’ process of gender identity acquisition in childhood. In this paper, I address the issue of gender and sexuality in childhood in academic discourses and analyse the construction of non-heteronormativity in selected children’s books. Impulses for the research are provided by critical readings of classical psychological and sociological developmental theories, as well as theories and research on the construction of gender identities in children rooted in the paradigm of social constructivism. The presentation of books created with children in mind, in which the authors point to a way of “taming” non-heteronormativity in the children’s world, may strengthen inclusive tendencies in educational activities and change the existing social gender order.

This article investigates children’s rights to safety under international law—identity and family rights, the right to be heard, the right to be free from discrimination, and other civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights—and consider the ways in which those rights are embedded in children’s literature in Poland, such as: Moje prawa – ważna sprawa by Piatkowska, Masz prawo by Kasdepke, Mam prawo i nie waham się go użyć by Olech and Bak, Masz prawa, człowieku by Wegrzecka and Zabielska-Stadnik and other picture books for youngest readers. Reviewing more than twenty-some children’s books (Janusz Korczak and another very best children’s authors), author of this article explores the role of children’s literature in disseminating human rights norms and education for safety. According to the author, if young children are supported to understand and celebrate concepts of truth, fairness and freedom and social skills in the area of security – especially through narratives – they are better equipped to recognize and challenge perils and consequently – children exhibit greater self-esteem and respect for the rights of others.

In recent years, in particular after 2015, tenths of thousands of unaccompanied children have arrived in Europe, mostly in Greece and Italy, escaping from war, conflicts and other hardships they were faced with in their countries of origin. A considerable number of them are very young (under 14 years) and extremely vulnerable. The challenge for Europe, in line with the obligations deriving from UNCRC, is to offer them a safe, appropriate environment to live and to carefully examine and protect all their rights, including their protection from violence and exploitation and access to education, health and social participation. In this direction and following EU action plans and decisions, European states are expected to further share responsibilities, collaborate and take all appropriate measures to fully protect the rights of these children.

The article originates in the experience of the Children’s University Foundation gained during the participation in the international project STEAM4U, implemented as part of the Erasmus+ program. The aim of the study is, on the one hand, to explain the concept of self-efficacy in the field of education. On the other hand, it outlines the problems of gender and origin inequity in the world of science. The author of the article describes the project initiatives undertaken by the Foundation that enhance children’s self-efficacy and presents selected teaching strategies that can be applied to the activities of children’s universities or other educational institutions. The study presents selected data derived from the research on the children’s self-efficacy, carried out as part of the project activities. The data allow for answering the question of whether the classes at the Children’s University strengthen the children’s self-efficacy and for indicating what types of activities are greatly appreciated by children. The participants’ answers reveal that the most significant factors influencing the enhancement of self-confidence in the area of STEAM are active involvement and the use of learning methods other than those exploited at school. The experience described in the text may be an inspiration for other educational initiatives, encouraging them to enrich the teaching process with strategies oriented on developing the children’s self-efficacy.

The content of the article is an analysis of two different concepts of children’s playgrounds, one of which is a standard urban/pre-school playground, reproduced in countless variations, and the other is an individualised variation of an adventure playground. The criterion of the analysis was the concept of a non-place by Marc Augé and the pedagogical concept of a place by Maria Mendel, Dorota Klus-Stańska, Jolanta Zwiernik. The analysis has identified two types of discourses that characterize adult organizers of children’s playgrounds: care discourse and emancipatory discourse. The care discourse is a manifestation of concern for children’s safety and it is revealed in the organization of space and delimitation of children’s activity in standard playgrounds, which makes it a place for children (non-place in the Augé concept). The emancipatory discourse makes use of the educational advantages offered by adventure playgrounds and by creating the conditions to increase the participation of children in the life of their community now and in the future makes them children’s place.

The article presents one of the most avant-garde educational experiences for young children in the world. The first preschools in Reggio Emilia (Italy) were established after the Second World War and they have been under the supervision of the municipality for over 45 years. The main initiator and educator of this early childhood practice was Loris Malaguzzi (1920–1994). One of the reasons for this long-lasting project is the readiness of Reggio Emilia educators to cross boundaries, and another is their openness to new ideas and perspectives. They take their inspiration not only from pedagogy, but from philosophy, the exact sciences, architecture, literature, and visual communication as well. Inspired by different ideas and theories, being reflective and inquiring, they interpret and construct their own concepts and theories instead of reproducing them.

In the contemporary world social participation of children is seen as an idea that should be implemented at various social levels. The idea itself is understood multi-dimensionally – as various social activities, including the participation in decision-making processregarding children’s matters. Today in a discourse on children’s participation its collective dimension is accented, which means social participation and access to social and civil goods of children as a social group. In the discourse on participation, which has been developing dynamically since the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, various theories are used as a background against which children’s participationis considered and justified. The paper presents an outline of this problem and current tendencies in the discourse.

After Ukraine’s independence in 1991 Ukrainian children got wider access to the translations of the works of prominent world writers for children. The classic literature of the world, aiming to mediate the children’s feelings for beauty and literary aesthetic, became an integral part of the Ukrainian educational system. Thanks to the increase of famous children’s books written in modern Ukraine, Ukraine is now experiencing the growth of a new generation of more intelligent and capable citizens free from communism ideology, able to integrate and positively contribute to the modern multicultural world. However “children and war” is now again among the painful topics in modern Ukrainian society but not new in history and literature. There are no wars, initiated by Ukrainians. The Famine of Ukrainians in the East of Ukraine by Russians, the Second World War, physical genocide of Ukrainian families and their children for the whole century even also just for the Ukrainian language saved Pain and Distrust in the generation memory of Ukrainians. But the aim of this survey of the Ukrainian literature for children and youth is to show the developing processes in the society on the basics of the main ideas, topics, directions and values during the XX-XXI centuries, beginning since the end of the XIX century by such prominent writer like Ivan Franko.

Forty-seven left-behind children (LB) and 40 non-left-behind children (NL) in rural China were interviewed to evaluate moral, conventional, and personal violations by providing judgments and justifications. The results suggested that both LBs and NLs differentiate the rules of moral, conventional and personal domains. However, there are some differences: 1. The NL considered it acceptable to commit a personal infraction when there was no rue prohibiting it, while the LB considered it wrong; 2. The younger male LBs were more willing to accept situations without moral psychological rules, compared with younger female LBs, older male LBs, and younger male NLs. Age, sex differences were also found. The one out of our expectation is that younger males considered it more acceptable to commit a personal infraction than older males did and believed it all right if there was no explicit rule on it. Meanwhile, in providing reasons to support their judgments or evaluations, the findings revealed that: 1. More often LBs referred to social conventional reasoning even when evaluating moral and personal rules and violations, especially on personal issues; 2. LBs used more justifications of punishment and fewer justifications of personal growth. The implications of the results of the study for children’s moral development and education, especially for LBs, are discussed.

The phenomenon of internet infl uencers is among the most discussed issues in marketing to children. The amount of time children spend on the internet increases every year, which increases the risk of becoming the target of infl uencer marketing. Studying the impact of infl uencers on children is of great importance not only for marketers, but also for parents responsible for upbringing their off spring. This article presents the results of a qualitative study aimed at describing three components of the attitude (cognitive, emotional and behavioural) of children and parents towards children infl uencers. The methods employed in this study are focus group interviews and individual in-depth interviews with 18 participants: children aged 8–11 and their parents. During the interviews, one sample YouTube video and two TikTok children influencer videos were presented. The analysis of cognitive aspects of attitude showed that children have a higher level of awareness of product placement in influencer video than their parents suspect. Many parents declare that they are against such content on social media, while children see nothing wrong with promotional content and believe that it is natural. As far as the emotional aspect of attitude is concerned, parents present a wider range of emotions than children, possibly because they are less familiar with such content. Being exposed to product placement in influencer videos also impacts the behavioural aspect of attitude. Children are eager to have the promoted products, but parents are sceptical about such products and declare that they buy them only for special occasions.

The observation of the media in the worldwide and domestic market allows us to see a tendency towards the professionalization of children’s culinary culture. A manifestation of this phenomenon is inter alia the development of toy industry associated with the manufacture of culinary accessories, as well as the annexation of the media space reserved for children and the young. Within it, we can notice the multiplication of culinary TV programs, while more and more Internet culinary projects, little chef online games, and applications for mobile devices are becoming available. A culinary “thematic turn” is also taking place in the book market for children and young people. After 1989, impressive qualitative and quantitative changes took place in the cookbook segment for the youngest readers. Evolution covered their new thematic variants and editorial styles as well as media formats (culinary audiobooks and e-books), which reflected the global fashions and ideas characteristic of the consumer culture, as well as evidenced the culinary emancipation of the youngest. The report will show diverse variants of present-day cookbooks for young readers, including: those linked with children’s entertainment supersystems; those referring to the works in the canon of school reading and to classical children’s and young people’s literature; family books i.e. addressed to children and their parents/guardians; cookbooks in verse, culinary toy-books, guides promoting healthy nutrition and ecological lifestyle, books promoting knowledge about national and regional cuisines, and finally – recipes in literature for children. Apart from presenting interesting examples for individual varieties offered by the Polish publishing houses, the author wishes to refer to selected exemplifications that recapitulate the history of the phenomenon in Western culture (Germany, the United States, the UK). The principal thesis posed by the author is to connect the popularity of culinary publications for children with the tradition of children’s kitchen and cooking games, including playing the cooking doll and miniature cooker, popular from the mid-nineteenth century. To confirm her thesis, the author refers to the works of the French Annales school (chiefly Philippe Aries), thus including her report in the research methodology practiced by the French school’s representatives.

The purpose of the article is to present a relationship between selected qualities of the temperament of 7-year-old children and their adaptation to a school environment. It is essential to recognize the factors of early school adaptation of children starting their education. The success of this process may have a decisive influence on the child’s whole life. An empirical study was conducted on a group of 7-year-old children who were subjected to assessment as regards qualities of their temperaments. The study consisted in parents and teachers describing the children’s temperaments. Subsequently, the obtained results were subjected to comparative analysis against the levels of their school adaptation. For this purpose there were employed EAS-C Temperament Questionnaires and Pupil Behaviour Sheets which are used to assess the level of children’s school adaptation.

Badania prowadzone wśród dzieci dostarczają wiele wątpliwości, problemów i pytań.

Due to the ease of access to the Internet, children more often become the recipients of the content placed therein. They are a specific group of Internet users due to their development conditions, which in contact with persuasive content, often not directly addressed to them, raises doubt. The importance of development conditions was often analysed in relation to the understanding and the child’s response to the content placed in traditional media. The development of the advertising market makes it necessary to update knowledge in this area. The study is an attempt to systematize the issues raised in the literature regarding the reception of online marketing communication by children (under 12 years of age). The literature review helped to identify the basic principles of construction of selected communication activities (e.g. websites dedicated to children), including competence development of children. Moreover, the attention was paid to the problems that may occur in the reception of persuasive messages on the Internet by children, including in the context of the model of knowledge about persuasion.

W drugiej opisuję metodologię i przebieg badań. Trzecia część, badawcza, zawiera analizę i interpretację wypowiedzi siedmiolatków na temat twórczości oraz wnioski.
The child’s creative activity is the main stimulus of his/ her development. When working with children, I attach great importance to children being active and creative. I decided to talk with children about what they think on the subject. The article presents children’s statements about creativity. In my research, I gave the voice to children so that they could say what they know about creativity. The aim of presented research work is to familiarize the reader with the knowledge of seven-year-old children about creativity. The research was conducted in the qualitative field, with the use of the method of group conversation with children. The research results present the children’s knowledge about creativity. According to the children surveyed, creativity is the action of a human being - the creator which effects in a concrete, useful product. It turns out that for children the creative process, or creation, is closely linked to thinking. The research allowed the determination that the examined children see themselves as creators, emphasizing that they create on a daily basis in the dayroom, but also at home. They emphasize that they like to create and are creative in their activities. The text consists of three parts. The first part is a reflection on creativity in general and children’s creativity. In the second part I describe the methodology and the course of research. The empirical part includes the analysis and interpretation of children’s statements about creativity, as well as some conclusions.

The current problem of the low standard of the educational system for pupils from socially excluded communities is that it is not a flexible system and the primary schools do not only provide an educational but also a space to socialize for children. It is important to create a functioning education strategy that will not only respond to specific aspects of the personality of children from excluded communities, but will also be able to create a stimulating environment for them to develop. The emergence of socially excluded communities is the result of several factors; some examples are the low social status of families, low level of parental education and school aspects in the locality where primary school is associated with segregation. The social development of children from an early age is influenced by the family and the environment where their education takes place.

The aim of the paper was to assess the growing interest – among both the general public and academia – in the phenomenon of picturebook apps, i.e. products for children dedicated to mobile devices with touchscreens. As the object of interest 4 picturebook apps were chosen, which in different ways present topics connected with social issues (exclusion, sexuality, “otherness”). A selected sample of pre-school children parents were presented with the apps and then interviewed (qualitative research) in order to collect their opinions regarding both the apps and the topics raised in their content. The acquired data documents different attitudes towards the apps – ranging from very open to close minded.

Opis:
Kynotherapy is one of the innovatory methods of disabled children therapy ‘a dogassisted therapy” generally speaking is a method helping and strengthening rehabilitations with a dog’s participation which is properly selected, trained and led by a qualified therapist. In 1964,a child psychiatrist Boris Levinson noticed while observing autistic boys in contact with dogs that these animals had caused that autistic children having a communication problem in building up social contacts, established a contact with a dog without any trouble, and it gave a chance for a contact with a therapist in the future. For a working ‘therapy dog’ are selected and trained the representatives of breeds with mellow and good-tempered temperament, well-balanced psyche, patient, obedient and devoted to man. According to therapists an ideal dog in terms of character is one called a social dog, that is such a dog which except mentioned above features will be obedient not only towards people whom it knows well, but also towards every person it meets. A dog selected for work with disabled people has to be a completely foreseeable dog, that is the one which has encoded invariable features of character by his genes. Moreover, it is important that the therapy dog would not have aggressive, apprehensive, or ill ancestors in his pedigree. The main effect of this kind of a contact therapy consists in the physical contact (stroking, cuddling up to a dog, shaking the dog’s paw) and establishing psychical ties with the animal what has a positive influence over the course of the treatment. Despite many inconveniences kynotherapy gains more and more followers in rehabilitation of disabled people. The changes that have occurred for last several years in this innovatory therapy allow to suppose that kynotherapy will be developing incessantly, and ‘dog therapists’ will be able to reach to more and more large number of people in need.

The aim of the paper is to present a few interesting trends of a word formation in a children’s language. Various groups of words have been discussed. Special attention has been paid to a figurative type which represents children’s creativity as well as relations between names and reality: features of the person, thing or reality. The choice, which is made by a child of a transparent internal form instead of a traditional form used for new words formation (creation), reflects specific children’s perception of the word.

Opis:
The present paper discusses the outcomes of research realised as part of the ‘Recognising and encouraging the development of aptitude for learning mathematics in older kindergartners and primary school pupils’ project. To start with, data concerning the occurrence of mathematical giftedness in older pupils is offered together with an explanation of the reasons for the previous lack of interest in the issue of inclinations for mathematical giftedness in children. Subsequently, I present a description of the mental traits of older kindergarteners which indicate their inclination for mathematical giftedness. I also go on to outline the research programme on the basis of which I managed to: (a) develop diagnostic methods for determining the inclination for mathematical giftedness in children, (b) estimate the number of children manifesting an inclination for mathematical giftedness and children endowed with an inclination for outstanding mathematical giftedness, (c) determine the reasons why groups of children manifesting their mathematical giftedness become significantly reduced after the first months of education. Finally, I discuss the critical periods crucial for developing inclinations for mathematical giftedness in children. I additionally provide an explanation of why it is impossible to fix the neglected cultivation of an inclination for an aptitude in mathematics in the subsequent years of school education.
