The article presents the development phases of the Krakow-Balice airport based on selected planning documents and subsequent stages of construction of passenger terminals. Over 50-year history of Kraków Airport shows the dynamics of the creation of specific forms of buildings generated by modern airports as well as the potential they have in shaping architectural and urban complexes. This allows to formulate research questions: in what direction and with what tools to control the development of the airport and the airport zone in order to properly use the clearly visible and growing city-forming role of Kraków Airport.

Opis:
The area around Krakow airport is an attractive developmental urban area. The concentration of passenger traffic and the flow of goods is conducive to new development projects. These projects are associated with the operation of airports, as well as new uses which see the proximity of an airport as an additional asset in operating a business based on access to a form of high-speed transport. This paper presents the findings of research concerning the existing spatial structure, transport accessibility and compositional determinants within an area around Krakow Airport, which can be used to assess the phenomena present and formulate principles and trajectories of shaping them in the future. The study was based on an analysis of selected elements of the existing functio-spatial structure, as well as available materials and subject-specific planning documents. Due to the specificity of areas around airports, which undergo dynamic change, it appears key to determine the individual form of development and land cover, that skilfully combines modernity and comfort of use with meshing with the local landscape, featuring a network of linkages and the character of suburban space. The issues present in this area are distinctive of many cities and require coherent land development proposals.

Omówione zostały plany i działania podjęte w celu stworzenia Airport City w sąsiedztwie Lotniska Chopina w Warszawie, Międzynarodowego Portu Lotniczego Kraków-Balice oraz Lotniska im.
This paper presents the concept of the development of airports and their surround ing areas called Airport City. Development of airport infrastructure and neighborhood is nowadays a global trend as a consequence of the fast-growing air traffic in the world. In Poland, the trend of airports development according to the concept of Airport City is noticeable. The article describes the causes that determine the development of airports. Functioning of Hong Kong Airport as aerotropolis and Frankfurt Airport City were discussed. The authors also discussed the opportunities and risks of this trend development in Poland. Plans and actions taken to create Airport City in Warsaw Chopin Airport, Krakow- Balice International Airport and Lech Walesa Airport were discussed. Analysis of foreign and Polish examples of airports forming Airport Cities have been demonstrated as a beneficial phenomenon in every way. From the airport’s point of view, the location of offices, warehouses, retails and hotels contributes to a larger number of passengers, and thus the expansion of the port. From a business perspective, the location of its headquarters close to the airport facilitates business contacts, is cost-effective and provides access to a well-developed transport infrastructure, including rail, road, and in some cases the sea.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the efficiency of airport processes using simulation tools. A critical review of selected scientific studies relating to the performance of airport processes with respect to reliability, particularly within the apron, has been undertaken. The developed decision-making model evaluates the efficiency of airport processes in terms of minimizing penalties associated with aircraft landing before or after the scheduled landing time. The model takes into account, among other things, aircraft take-offs and landings and separation times between successive aircraft. In order to be able to verify the correctness of the decision-making model, a simulation tool was developed to support decision making in the implementation of airport operations based on a genetic algorithm. A novel development of the structure of a genetic algorithm as well as crossover and mutation operators adapted to the determination of aircraft movement routes on the apron is presented. The developed simulation tool was verified on real input data.

During years 1944-1993, Legnica airbase was used by Soviet Army as air transport base for local command of Warsaw Pact forces. Next Legnica airbase was overtaken by Polish local authority which unfortunately didn’t have concrete and definite plans of using that airport, although it has excellent location due to industry and logistic infrastructure. In result, during 1990. Legnica airport (ICAO code: EPLE) was used rather rarely, and sometimes handled light sport or business air traffic. At present in conditions of European Union (especially in case of III Pan European Transport Corridor), Legnica airport can be very useful.

This article highlights the key issues of outsourcing in the field of airport ground services. Both airlines and airports have gradually started to outsource these services, following governmental decisions in several countries regarding the commercialization and privatization of airports. Our research was based on data available from different airports showing a general trend in service outsourcing. There are particular situations in which both the airports and airlines take measures for insourcing services, mainly those related to passengers’ security in today’s global security conditions with threats of potential terrorist attacks – even when this is known to be a more expensive method of doing business. Modern technology provides conditions in which it is possible to reduce the number of operators, controllers and other staff, which gives the same chance for insourcing and outsourcing. Our contribution provides a general idea of outsourcing applied to the air business. The company cannot do everything – specialisation and differentiation means that an enterprise may carry out its business better and cheaper and can thus offer this service to other enterprises.

The paper pays attention to the increasing number of systems working on transport objects, as well as to the results of their implementation. System integration is proposed as one of the ways to increase functionality and safety of transport telematic systems. The paper defines and describes integration process and names its main purposes. In a similar way it presents two selected airport’s systems, used as an example in order to show the influence of integration and the difference between independent subsystems and the integrated unit. At the same time it pays special attention to benefits arising from integration according to limitation of systems’ inputs and outputs, which results in limitation of unnecessary repetitions of the same information as well as to repetitions of the same algorithms (elaborations of system’s outputs) in different subsystems. Finally effects of subsystems’ integration are presented according to the telematic services they realise.

The paper refers to security requirements for new threats international airports, taking specifically into consideration current challenges within processing of passengers, in light of types of current major threats, in a way ensuring positive passenger experience within their journey. In addition, within the scope of this paper, presented initial outcome of study research among professional aviation stakeholder's environment, on current threats in the area of security and protection of airport infrastructure. The airports are a very demanding environment: seasonal traffic, fluctuating passenger volumes and last minute changes mean there is a lot of flexibility required in order to meet specific needs of airport authorities and their clients or the passengers (Dolnik, 2009). Therefore, security in aviation sector has been a big issue for civil aviation authorities, as airports are susceptible targets for terrorist attacks. The list of incidents is extensive and gets longer every year despite strict security measures. Within decades, aviation has become the backbone of our global economy bringing people to business, tourists to vacation destinations and products to markets. Statistically flying remains the safest mode of travelling compared to other modes of transportation. However, simultaneously terrorists and criminals continue in their quest to explore new ways of disrupting air transportation and the challenge to secure airports and airline assets remain real. This calls for greater awareness of security concerns in the aviation sector. The key element, how to protects against terrorist modus operandi, is to stay ahead of recent threats, incidents and breaches occurring worldwide. It requires implementation of effective data sharing systems, in order to proactively monitor potential risks and vulnerabilities within different type of aviation ecosystems.

The paper discusses; It is the HUB of Ataturk Airport. as well as international and domestic flights at Ataturk Airport in terms of traditional and low-cost. The evolution of the airline begins with a summary of the cynologically. paper describes the physical and capacity characteristics of Ataturk Airport. It examines HUB types by dividing them into 3 pieces. In terms of HUB types, it specifies the type of Ataturk Airport. It shows the network structure of Ataturk Airport and analyzes the usage of Ataturk Airport about its market share. Ataturk Airport has a natural HUB quality thanks to its geographical location efficiency. To a large extent, he owes the network's breadth. By connecting Asia and Europe, it has the ability to provide the most transportation network in the world. Is examining the world-wide size of international and domestic airlines entering the airport. As well as the locations of Domestic airports connected by Ataturk Airport. Low-cost and traditional airlines. classifies local airlines and international air routes in low-cost and traditional aspects. Turkey offers to regulating the operation of the airport, airline flight frequencies into the table. Offers seating capacity of companies. This allows the possibility of determining the flight capacity. Regionally examines flight destinations. Again, the services preferred at Atatürk airport are shown on the table in proportions. At the end of the comparison, the results are examined. Ever since we started air transportation, we have found new ways of traveling more safely everyday with technologies that push the limits of our imagination. Air transport has been connecting the continents with each other. Increased the volume of trade and made it easier to trade with the HUB concept. Airline companies are in the advertising competition while the safety of the flight is at the forefront. Each is more aimed at flying to the region and more often operating. At this point, the limits of competition have been so difficult that our lives have entered different levels of service, including low-cost and traditional. Low-cost airline companies aimed to reduce their costs by cutting some services in the airplane. such as the right to baggage being offered as a separate entitlement other than the ticket price. this service does not mean to cut off safety precautions regularly. Airlines continue to keep all security systems as strong as ever. The purpose of these discontinuities is to make as much of the costs of course as possible and to offer cheaper tickets to passengers. On the other hand, traditional airlines aim to keep passengers 'journeys as comfortable as possible by keeping passengers' services at a nearly luxurious level. Whichever is chosen depends on the needs of the traveller at the moment. Of course, it is no surprise that air travel in the world is so popular. Despite the fact that it is the most expensive transportation vehicle compared to land, sea and railway transportation, İt has always been the first preferred transportation facility by making the travel speed and the intercontinental passage very easy. This intensive preference certainly ensured the formation of HUB centers. HUB is a transfer center built on the world we mean. There are various transfer centers in the world. The most important feature for a HUB is the fact that it is the center of the transfer points. This ensures that the traveler or objects reach the point where they need to reach it strategically in the fastest and safest way without making too many transfers. When we examine in this context as a HUB. HUB is a natural Ataturk Airport in Turkey. Ataturk Airport is located on an area of 11,776,961 m2. The terminal with a capacity of 27.5 million passengers per annum has an area of 330.500 m2, 62,500 m2 domestic lines terminal and 268,000 m2 international lines terminal. Ataturk Airport has three pists. Two concrete paved runways is 3000x45 meters. The other is 2600x60 meters and it is covered with Asphalt (Stone Mastic). The right of intention is owned by DHMİ (State Airports Authority) and the terminal operator is TAV Holding. Ataturk Airport is a 60-year-old city that serves the nearest million passengers and is an important hub. Ataturk Airport, shortly growing today, Europe is the fourth largest, the world's 13th airport has become. Ataturk Airport serves more than 160 passengers daily giving. Ataturk Airport has a great advantage due to its location which connects Asia and Europe. which Ataturk Airport is the 6th airport with the highest hub connection worldwide. Today, 128 airline companies from the Ataturk Airport make an entrance to and depart from Ataturk Airport with 276 destinations in 110 countries of the world. Among them airline companies internationally among the world's greatest; Lutfhansa, Air France, KLM and more. When we look at domestic airline companies, we see that HUB carrier is Turkish Airlines with a market share of 75%. Onur Air, Atlas Global and Pegasus Airlines are other stakeholders. When we look at low-cost airline companies that operate at Ataturk Airport, we can say that there are few at the level that can be tried compared to the traditional airlines and domestic airlines. We can see that the biggest traditional local airline company is Turkish Airlines. Pegasus Airlines is the local airline company that has taken the lead in terms of low-cost service. Market share for service type, the result is as follows; Traditional airline companies are the ones that make the most flights to Ataturk airport with a rate of 98.4%. Low cost carriers are operating at 0.9% at Ataturk Airport, including Onur Air and Pegasus Airlines.

In the past, it was enough for the airport to have a runway and a modest terminal. The development of air traffic has also increased customer requirements (passengers, airlines, etc.), which has affected the need for airport infrastructure development. Throughout the world, passenger terminals have been built, many of which, according to architectural solutions, represent works of art. The design and functionality are tailored in such a way as to enable longer stay and meet the requirements of passengers and other users. Content and concept offer solutions that airport operators provide for additional revenue. One part of the content and service is offered in passenger terminal buildings, while the other part is provided outside them, whether in or outside the airport. Part of this content is offered by Airport City (AC). AC phenomenon represents the integration of infrastructure, superstructures, information and operations. It represents a part of the Supply Chain (SC) and usually includes facilities such as: passenger terminals, runways and other airport activities such as: ground handling, logistics, office space, shops, hotels, etc. In this paper, authors use a method of systems theory, a modeling method and a comparative method as a general and some specific scientific methods of cognition, to researching the problem to which different AC models and their structure can contribute to the optimal SC flow as its essential part and bring the results of the AC phenomenon as a part of the SC.
