Opis:
Changes in magnetic microstructure of Fe₇₈Si₉B₁₃ ribbons were investigated by the Mössbauer spectrometry as a function of their thickness. The latter decreases inversely with the quenching wheel velocity. Amorphicity of the samples was checked by X-ray diffraction and the Mössbauer spectrometry. Average values of hyperfine magnetic fields do not appreciably differ with the production velocity. On the other hand, notable deviations are observed in the position of a net magnetic moment. After annealing with moderate temperature, the magnetic anisotropy improves as indicated by an increase of the average value of hyperfine magnetic field. However, magnetic moments turn out of the ribbon plane and this process continues towards higher production velocity, i.e., smaller thickness of the ribbons. No appreciable deviations in the investigated Mössbauer parameters were revealed after annealing during different time intervals.

Fe-based amorphous alloys were prepared by the melt-spinning technique and characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy. The studies were performed on Fe₇₆Nb₄B₂₀ and Fe₇₄Nb₆B₂₀ metallic glasses in the form of ribbons. The Mössbauer spectroscopy allows to study the local environments of the Fe atoms in the glassy state, showing the changes in the amorphous structure due to the changing of Nb addition. The obtained Mössbauer spectra of ferromagnetic metallic glasses present broad lines resulting from the distribution of non-equivalent iron sites and of interatomic distances. Variation of Nb content in the alloys affects the disorder in as-cast state and also influences on the average radius of the first coordination shell and the number of nearest neighbor Fe atoms.

The paper presents the structural analysis of $Fe_{62-x} Co_x Nb_8 B_{3-}$ metallic glasses (x=0, 20) in as-cast and after crystallization state. The studies were performed on metallic glasses of ribbon form: with thickness of 0.05 and 0.06 mm. The structure analysis of the samples in as-cast state and phase analysis of studied alloys after annealing was carried out by the X-ray diffraction methods. Moreover, the Mössbauer spectroscopy was also used to investigate the local structure for examined alloys. The soft magnetic properties examination covered the initial magnetic permeability. The after-effects of magnetic permeability were also conducted.

Fe-based amorphous alloys were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The studies were performed on (Fe_{0.75}B_{0.15}Si_{0.1})_{100-x}Zr_{x} (x=0, 1, 3) metallic glasses in the form of ribbons. The glassy samples were prepared by the "melt spinning" technique in argon protective atmosphere. The XRD patterns show the broad diffraction halo that is typical for amorphous Fe-based alloys. The Mössbauer spectroscopy allows to study the local environments of the Fe atoms in the glassy state, showing the changes in the amorphous structure due to the changing of Zr addition. From hysteresis loops obtained from vibrating sample magnetometry measurements, coercive force and saturation magnetization were determined versus different Zr content. The obtained magnetic properties allow to classify the studied amorphous alloys in as-cast state as soft magnetic materials.

Opis:
The ferromagnetic Fe-based amorphous alloys have been studied due to the attractive properties for soft magnetic applications. Depending on different Nb concentration, we studied the formation of crystalline phases in annealed samples of amorphous metallic alloys for $Fe_{80-x}B₂₀Nbₓ$ (x=0, 4, 10). The nature of the crystallization products as well as the phase structure were determined by using the Mössbauer spectrometry combined with X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry results. Substitution of Fe atoms by Nb lead to significant changes in hyperfine magnetic field $(B_{hf})$ distributions in as-quenched amorphous alloys $Fe_{80-x}B₂₀Nbₓ$, for x=10 the minimal value of $B_{hf}$ is observed. Addition of this element causes shift of crystallization process towards higher temperatures and induces formation of phase complex including the α -Fe, Fe₂B and Fe₃B. Combination of X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy is very useful method in studying the structural environment of Fe atoms on a nearest-neighbor length scale.

Opis:
In Fe based glasses not solely the stress-sensitive magnetic properties, but also the amorphous Curie temperature $(T_C^{am})$ can be altered by hydrogen absorption or due to the low temperature "heat treatments" in liquid $N_2$ (-196°C). The sign and magnitude of this $T_C^{am}$ shift is strongly compositional dependent, but it is also influenced by the thermal history of glasses (heat treatments). In this paper new experimental results are presented, which were obtained on FeCrB alloys, supporting the previous observations. An attempt of interpretation of the results is also made, which is based on the existence of the quenched-in phase reminiscences, being inherited from the liquid structure.

The multi component $Fe_{74}Hf_{4}Ta_{1}Cu_{1}Gd_{1}La_{x}Si_{15-x}B_{4}$ (x = 0, 7) alloys are promising candidates in the search for materials with unusual mechanical and magnetic properties. Amorphous nature of melt-spun samples was confirmed by X-ray diffractometry and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The X-ray diffraction patterns revealed a distinct amorphous halo. The low-field components of magnetic hyperfine field distributions on iron nuclei are observed in the Mössbauer spectra, with average hyperfine field values of 19.9 and 15.7 T for x = 0 and x = 7, respectively. Coercivity studied by vibrating sample magnetometer was about 12 A/m for x = 0 and 82 A/m for x = 7 at 300 K and about 600 A/m for x = 0 and 1200 A/m for x = 7 at 400 K. Remanence also changed with temperature, amounting to 0.64 T for x = 0 and 0.36 T for x = 7 at 300 K, while at 400 K it was 0.43 and 0.11 T for x = 0 and x = 7, respectively. It is shown that La addition has beneficial effect of shifting the Curie point towards lower temperatures together with the increase of magnitude of magnetization.

In this study, the effect of Fe, Mn and Cr substitution for Co on the crystallization kinetics of amorphous $Co_{75-x}M_xSi_{15}B_{10}$ (M = Fe, Mn and Cr; x=0 and 5) alloys were investigated. The broad diffraction peaks in the X-ray diffraction patterns for as-quenched ribbons indicated that all of the samples exhibit an amorphous structure. The activation energies of the alloys were calculated from differential thermal analysis data using the Kissinger, Ozawa and Augis-Bennett models. The increased activation energy for Fe, Mn and Cr doped samples indicated that the thermal stability and the crystallization kinetics were improved in the doped samples. The value of the Avrami exponent indicated that the crystallization is typical diffusion controlled three-dimensional growth for all of the samples.

In the present work multicomponent Co-based alloys with nominal composition $Co_{72-x}Fe_xZr_8B_{20}$ (x=10, 15, and 20 at. %) were synthesized by single-roller melt-spinning. The measurement of coercivity, $H_c$, reveals the soft magnetic behavior of investigated alloys. The value of $H_c$ increases from 23 A/m for alloy with x=10 at. % up to 32 A/m for alloy with x=20 at. %. Further it was found that crystallization temperature of as-quenched alloys slightly varies with iron content and lays between 605 and 625°C. From the temperature dependence of magnetization it follows that partial substitution of cobalt by iron has positive influence on the Curie temperature of amorphous phase, $_cT^{am}$, which increases from 300°C up to 462°C for alloy with x=10 at. % and x=2 0 at. %, respectively.

This paper presents the experimental results of the magnetic and magnetoelastic investigation on the properties of $Fe_{70}Ni_8Si_{10}B_{12}$ amorphous alloy, subjected to thermo-magnetic treatment. Samples were annealed at temperature 350°C for 1 hour, in parallel magnetic field (4 kA/m), as well as in transverse field (350 kA/m). Sample annealed without magnetic field was also tested. Magnetoelastic tests were performed under uniform compressive stress, applied to the ring-shaped core, perpendicularly to the direction of magnetizing field. The results indicated that the thermo-magnetic heat treatment changes the magnetic characteristics, but does not have a significant influence on the coarse of magnetoelastic characteristics of $Fe_{70}Ni_8Si_{10}B_{12}$ amorphous alloy.

The aim of this paper was to conduct studies concerning the magnetization of bulk amorphous $(Fe_{0.61}Co_{0.10}Zr_{0.025}Hf_{0.025}Ti_{0.02}W_{0.02}B_{0.20})_{97}Y_{3}$ alloy when subjected to strong magnetic fields: the specific focus of the paper is the area known as the approach to ferromagnetic saturation. The investigated alloy samples were produced using the suction-casting method, resulting in plates of dimensions 10 mm × 5 mm × 0.5 mm and rods of length 20 mm and diameter 1 mm. The structure was studied using X-ray diffractometry. It was found that investigated samples were amorphous in the as-cast state. The magnetization was measured in a strong magnetic field using a vibrating sample magnetometer. On the basis of the obtained results, the type of structural defects having influence on magnetization in high magnetic fields were determined for the bulk metallic glasses manufactured with different cooling rates.

This paper presents studies of the bulk amorphous alloys: $Fe_{60} Co_{10} Mo_2 Y_{8} B_{20}$ and $Fe_{60} Co_{10} Mo_2 W_1 Y_8 B_{19}$; Both compounds were obtained by means of the injection-casting method in which liquid alloy is forced under pressure into a copper mould. The structure of the samples was studied using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Based on the results of the X-ray diffraction studies, it was found that the samples were in the amorphous state. Scanning electron microscopy image analysis of fractured alloy samples indicated the presence of areas of varying degrees of relaxation: "smooth", "vein", and "flake" fractures. The manufactured ferromagnetic samples were characterized by so-called soft magnetic properties with a relatively high Curie temperature of more than 520 K. In the investigated samples, the saturation magnetization was found to have been decreased from 1.14 T to 1.13 T after the addition of W. Tungsten also contributed significantly to an increase in the value of the coercive field, from 27 A/m to 8685 A/m. Following the addition of just 1% of W to the alloy, a substantial change was observed in the form: of the static magnetic hysteresis loop: characterized by the so-called "wasp" shape. This result shows that an additional magnetically hard phase had appeared within the sample.

Amorphous materials contain structural defects, which play a key role in the magnetization process within the condition known as the "approach to ferromagnetic saturation". This paper presents the results of magnetization studies, carried out on bulk Fe₆₁Co₁₀Ti₃Y₆B₂₀ alloy when under the influence of a strong magnetic field. The alloy samples were obtained in the form of a rod 1 mm in diameter, and tested in the as-quenched state and after an isothermal annealing process, at a temperature below the crystallization temperature. It was observed that the heat treatment, carried out below crystallization temperature Tₓ, leads to irreversible structural relaxations, specifically reorganizing the atomic configuration within the volume of the alloy into an amorphous structure.

The magnetic properties were determined using completely automated set up for measurement of susceptibility and its disaccommodation. The disaccommodation curve was decomposed into three elementary processes, each of them was described by Gaussian distribution of relaxation times. From fit of theoretical curve the peak temperature, intensity at peak temperature, average activation energies, distribution parameter and pre-exponential factor of the Arrhenius law were determined. The obtained results indicate that the disaccommodation phenomenon in studied samples is related with directional ordering of atom pairs near the free volumes.
