Zaprezentowano różne metody modelowania pracy zaworów rozrządczych pneumatycznego hamulca pojazdu szynowego. Bazują one na podziale układu na dyskretne elementy, opisie działania wewnątrz elementu i współdziałania między nimi w różnym stopniu uproszczenia, złożeniu w układ i rozwiązaniu poprzez symulację czasową. Propozycja różnych stopni dokładności modelowania wynika z celów praktycznych, dla których może być wykorzystana. Przedstawiono wybrane modele i porównanie wyników pomiarów z symulacją. Artykuł powstał w wyniku realizacji projektu badawczego KBN nr 5T12C03025 pt. „Badania procesów zachodzących w pneumatycznych układach hamulcowych pociągów".
The different modelling methods of distributor valves work of the pneumatic brake of the rail vehicle are presented. They base on the division of system into discreet elements, the description of operation inside of the element and the cooperation between them in different degree of simplification, composing into the system and solving through the time simulation. The proposal of different degrees of modelling accuracy results from the practical aims for that it can be used. The selected models and comparison of the results of measurements with the simulation are presented. This article was made as a result of realization of KBN research project No. 5T12C03025 under the title „Tests of processes occuring in the pneumatic braking systems of trains”.

In recent years considerably has increased activity in creation the standards referring to carry out the measurements of the noise level, in this also for the railway stock. The new directives, instructions and standards ordering this domain are published. In this article the original version as well as translation and interpretation of the authors of the current terms and definitions referring to determination the level of the noise generated by the rail vehicles are presented.

W artykule przedstawiono aktualny stan wiedzy dotyczący bezpieczeństwa przed wykolejeniem jako jednego z podstawowych czynników decydującym o zastosowaniu, funkcjonalności oraz specyfice pojazdów szynowych. Wraz z ciągłym rozwojem pojazdów szynowych zwiększał się również zakres wiadomości zdobytych na drodze analiz teoretycznych oraz przeprowadzonych badań. Zmieniały się również i kryteria, które służyły do oceny bezpieczeństwa jazdy pojazdów szynowych.
The current state of knowledge regarding safety against derailment as the one of the basic factors deciding about the application, functionality and specific of the rail vehicles is presented in this article. Together with the continuous development of the rail vehicles the range of the information acquired on the way of theoretical analysis and the carried out tests has also increased. The criteria that served for assessment the running safety of rail vehicles have also changed.

W artykule scharakteryzowano specyfikę zakłóceń elektromagnetycznych w aplikacjach kolejowych. Opisano metody analizy zaburzeń elektromagnetycznych generowanych przez pojazdy szynowe. Przykładowe wyniki analiz w dziedzinie czasu i częstotliwości porównano z wynikami analizy czasowo-częstotliwościowej, umożliwiającej identyfikację i lokalizację źródeł zaburzeń w pojazdach szynowych. Wskazano możliwe przyczyny zmian poziomów zaburzeń generowanych przez pojazdy szynowe w czasie eksploatacji.
The paper presents the specific character of electromagnetic interference in railway applications. Methods of analysis of electromagnetic disturbances generated by track vehicles have been described. Exemplary results of analyses in time and frequency domain are compared to the results of time – frequency analysis which enable identification and the localization of disturbances sources in track vehicles. The paper indicates possible reasons of changes of levels of generated disturbances by track vehicles in their life cycle.

The descriptions of the light multi-section rail vehicles for the regional traffic service are presented in this article. The requirements made first of all the driving systems and the main devices and machines being included in them are presented. In particular it was focused on the descriptions of the diesel-electric driving systems, in this on their main devices used both in diesel traction units and in rail buses.

Badania eksploatacyjne pojazdów szynowych są jednym z rodzajów badań służących do oceny wyrobu. Charakteryzują się warunkami odmiennymi niż w laboratorium. Pomiary wykonuje się w sposób ciągły w trakcie eksploatacji lub podczas planowanych przerw w eksploatacji Uzyskiwane wyniki często wymagają opracowania statystycznego. Badania trwają często wiele miesięcy, podczas których wyrób jest eksploatowany, poddawany przeglądom i naprawom. W artykule podano wymagania dotyczące badań eksploatacyjnych oraz zaproponowano proces realizacji tych badań w oparciu o algorytm postępowania.
The operating tests of the rail vehicles are the one of the type of the tests servicing for the product assessment. They are characterized by the different conditions than in the laboratory. The measurements are carried out in the continuous ways during the operation or during the planned intervals in the operation. The obtained results often require the statistic description. The tests last for many months during that the product is operated, subjected to inspections and repairs. The requirements regarding the operating tests are given in this article and the realization process of these tests basing on the procedure algorithm is proposed.

The paper proposes usage of existing methods of test data analysis into post-processing of FE models results, as we 11 as usage ofimproved methods ofFE data identifications for test data analysis. Continuously growing size and complexity ofthe FE models and possibilities of new technologies like laser or camera measurement of vibrations need new methods in identification, comparison and correlation. Generalised work flow of NVH analysis and 18 steps of proposed methodology are presented. Every step is described using graphics pictures generated from FEgraph software dedicated as post-processing tool for automotive industry. The proposed methods of same data processing for test and analysis data was successfully introduced into automotive industry and is on continuous development. Nevertheless, it can be used in the other branches of industry including in the analysis ofthe strength calculations oj the rail vehicles bodies.

W artykule przedstawiono metodę wyznaczania terytorialnego rozkładu napraw elementów pojazdów szynowych. Zadanie wyznaczenia tego rozkładu można rozwiązać metodami programowania liniowego. Prezentowana metoda bazuje na koncepcji modeli problemów transportowych i przydziału. Przyjęto dodatkowe założenie o specjalizacji zakładów naprawczych, związanej z różnymi typami elementów przeznaczonych do naprawy.
The method of determining the territorial distribution of the rail vehicle elements repairs is presented in this article. The task of determining of this distribution can be solved with the methods of linear programming. The presented method is based on the conception of models of transport and allocation problems. The additional assumption about the specialization of the repair plants connected with the different types of elements destined for repairing is accepted.

This paper deals with the problem of restructuring the Polish rolling stock industry, presented on the example of PESA Bydgoszcz SA. In the previous economic system, the company was one of several dozen Polish State Enterprise Rolling Stock Repair Factories, strictly dependent on Polish National Railways (PKP). The main objective of its activity was repair of steam and diesel locomotives and freight cars, only for PKP. In result of technological, organizational and ownership transformations, the company has become the main Polish manufacturer of passenger rolling stock, especially rail-buses, electric units and trams. Moreover, PESA has improved its position in the Polish rolling stock repair and modernization market, by expanding the offer related to electric units and passenger cars. Achieving the leading position in Poland became a component of the strategy, based on entering European markets.

W artykule przedstawiono kolejne kryteria, które wykorzystano przy ocenie bezpieczeństwa przed wykolejeniem. Ustalenie tych kryteriów posłużyło do wykorzystania ich w takim konstruowaniu pojazdów szynowych, aby zapewnić aktywne bezpieczeństwo pojazdów szynowych, czyli zapobieganie zjawisku wykolejeń. Zwrócono uwagę na zjawiska wykolejania pojawiające się podczas jazdy z większymi prędkościami (w warunkach dynamicznych) oraz przedstawiono możliwości detekcji (wczesnego wykrywania) zjawiska wykolejania, które w tych warunkach może prowadzić do poważnych strat materialnych, zagrożenia zdrowia i życia ludzkiego, a w konsekwencji niskiej oceny rynkowej transportu szynowego.
The next criteria that were used at the assessment of safety against derailment are presented in this article. Determination of these criteria was served for using them in such designing of the rail vehicles to ensure the active safety of the rail vehicles that is prevention of derailment phenomenon. It is paid attention to the derailment phenomena occuring during the running with the higher speeds (in dynamic conditions) and it is presented the possibilities of detection (the early detection) of the derailment phenomenon which in such conditions can lead to the serious material wastes, health hazard and human life, and in consequences to the Iow market price of the rail transport.

The paper presents the author's investigations on dynamics of a vehicle, especially the effect of various factors on the running safety. applied simulation methods used for analysis of running safety are in agreement the technical standards UIC 518 and EN 14363. The numerical simulations are performed for non-linear model of railway vehicle (a passenger car) moving along a tangent trach with lateral and vertical geometrical irregularities of random character. The obtained results are used to study how the derailment coefficient is affected by the ride velocity, the parameters of the primary and secondary vehicle suspension, the wear of wheel and rail profiles as well as the track condition. The investigation of running safety is further enhanced by performing the spectral analysis ofthe dynamical responses ofthe railway vehicle-track system. It is found that there is a direct relation between the obtained power spectral density (PSD) of the derailment coefficient and the PSD of the lateral and angular wheelset displacements showing the characteristic oscillations due to the wheelset hunting. Finally, the paper presents the results of the statistical analysis of local track geometrical irregularities occurring in the vicinity of the track points where the derailment coefflcient attains large values.

Z uwagi na rosnące skażenie środowiska producenci silników spalinowych do pojazdów trakcyjnych poszukują możliwości zmniejszenia emisji substancji toksycznych, będących wynikiem spalania paliwa. Wprowadza się coraz większe ograniczenia prawne, dotyczące emisji CO, HC, NOx i PM. Kierunki tych zmian są coraz bardziej zbieżne w przepisach europejskich i amerykańskich zarówno w odniesieniu do testów badawczych jak i dopuszczalnych limitów emisji.
Considering the increasing environmental contamination the producers of the diesel engines for the traction vehicles search for the possibilities of the reduction of emission of the toxic substances being the results of fuel combustion. The heavier and heavier legal limitations concerning the emission of CO, HC, NOX and PM are introduced. The directions of these changes are the more and more convergent in the European and American regulations both with reference to the research tests and the permissible limits of emission.

Główny nacisk położono na bezpieczeństwo pasażerów podczas procesów zderzeń pojazdów szynowych i na kryteria jakie powinny być spełnione, aby zapewnić bezpieczeństwo pasażerom podczas ewentualnych zderzeń.
In this article the safety criteria against the effects of collisions for the rail vehicles intended for the passenger transport which are included to: the passenger wagons, the traction units of the urban railway (metro vehicles in this) for the local and regional motion, the trams and the rail buses are presented. The main emphasis is laid on the safety of passengers during the collision processes of the rail vehicles and on the criteria that should be met to secure the safety of passengers during the possible collisions.

In parallel with the dynamic development of rail transport in terms of vehicle design, control systems, infrastructure issues, the development of processes and procedures in the area of safety management must also progress. This growing awareness was confirmed, among other things, by harmonising the content of the regulations on railway safety and interoperability, the safety certification of railway undertakings and the definition of the tasks and roles of national safety authorities. In effect, this was to enable the development of a single European railway area. An implementation tool that allows for a systematic approach to safety management processes and that enables the above requirements to be met is, among other things, RAMS analyses. A key step in the safety management process for specifying RAMS is hazard identification, which is particularly highlighted in PN EN 50126-2:2018 through the holistic model for risk assessment and control of railway system hazards (hourglass model). It places the hazard identification process in two stages, i.e. in the early development stage of the analysis (similar to other known risk management models) and in the hazard control stage. This positioning alone indicates the importance of the hazard identification process. On the comprehensiveness and detail of its implementation depends the validity of the final outcome of the RAMS analysis. The development of such a process for real technical facilities in a way that is consistent with the needs of RAMS analyses and, at the same time, ensures that satisfactory results of these analyses are achieved, has become the subject of this article.

The program of strength tests of the frame of 11 ANc bogie as the basie load-carrying structure is presented in this article. It is described the frame as the object of tests, the structure of strength tests, the specification of forces applied on the frame and the criteria of tests results assessment. This article was made within the research and development project No. RIO 041 02 financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education from the budget means for science in years 2007 - 2009 under the title: " The bogie of the passenger railway vehicle of type Z with the speed of 250 km/h and the possibilities o f modification to the speed of 300 km/h."

The new algorithms of fluidity, stability and controllability of the rail vehicle motion based on the contemporary theories of regulators adjusting to the interferences are presented in this article. The effective vibration isolation systems of rail vehicles absorbing the indefinite interferences in the actual time were designed. The new class of closed control systems has been got, that in the optimum way absorb the interferences in controlling the interferences of rail vehicles.

The article presents selected results of research in the area of reducing the risk of defects in railway infrastructure and traffic control devices. The first part of the article will discuss selected topics used in a defectoscope car for automated ultrasonic rail inspections related to the identification of joints and flaws. A method based on the identification of joints and flaws using a neural network will be presented. The second part of the article will cover research on the automatic collection of diagnostic data from railway traffic control devices. The solutions presented concern a simulator of railway traffic control device malfunctions, from which data is extracted to populate a database of malfunctions and then used in the inference process. The article will present partial results of research on both systems.

Rok 1999 zaowocował w Polsce realizacją 3 kontraktów, w ramach których w trzech polskich miastach (Warszawa, Kraków i Gdańsk) pojawiły się 22 wagony niskopodłogowe, tj. o 4 więcej niż zakupiono łącznie w latach 1996-1998. W 2000 roku kolejne 33 nowe wagony pojawią się w Katowicach, Krakowie i Gdańsku. Wskazuje to na znaczne ożywienie rynku tramwajowego. Wraz ze zwiększaniem się liczby kupowanych pojazdów, wzorem Europy Zachodniej zwiększa się także różnorodność taboru eksploatowanego w polskich miastach.

The article presents the results of laboratory tests of a new anti-graffiti coating system, which includes BO100-AGR. The tests were carried out in accordance with the current standards and the established internal laboratory procedures, the purpose of which was to broaden the determination of the functional properties of the tested system. The coatings were applied to the sample with S355 steel using guns SATA. Because of its properties, anti-graffiti coating system can be successfully used on rail vehicles.

The potential applications of the satellite transmission of the dates in the area of the diagnosis of the traction rail vehicles are presented in the present article. The development of the satellite telecommunications, and in particularly the mobile satellite radio communication, is described. The IMARSAT system and the selected satellite terminal are characterized. This article was madę basing on the works conducted within the research project " Application of the satellite system of dates canvassing for the range tests of the diesel rail vehicles" (No.4 T12D 054 30) financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education

Transportation is equipment which absorbs energy. In the era of the energy rising prices one seeks solutions that can result in savings due to reduced energy consumption. The world of science and industry is continuously looking for savings in this area. In simple logic, we can talk about savings when there is a reduction in kerb weight of driven object. This paper presents an optimization method that can be used to reduce the weight of vehicles. Mass optimization is a process that has to be conducted on basing on the assumed criteria and, as in the case described here, the normative requirements. Presented process begins with the definition of the area to be analysed and then decomposition and selecting the typical construction nodes after that continues to picking library solutions based on which, the selection algorithm is built. User calls back the criteria and selects it interesting solution: the extreme: a light and expensive, heavy and cheap or many other combinations. The study aimed to achieve the effect of optimization based on computational methods in the final stage of the experimental verification, depending on the case.

W artykule przedstawiono strukturę uproszczonego symulatora pojazdu szynowego do celów szkolenia maszynistów w warunkach zbliżonych do warunków panujących na rzeczywistym pojeździe na szlaku. Omówiono korzyści wynikające ze stosowania symulatorów pojazdów szynowych. Omówiono różne rodzaje symulatorów oraz ich wady i zalety. Przedstawiono i omówiono sprzętowo-programową strukturę realizowanego symulatora oraz sposób jego działania symulatora. Opisano poszczególne systemy wchodzące w skład symulatora takie jak: system wizji, system dźwięku, model pojazdu, model pulpitu maszynisty, system ruchu, trasy i scenerie, sytuacje wyjątkowe. Artykuł powstał w ramach projektu badawczego "Symulator jazdy pojazdów szynowych do optymalizacji zużycia energii podczas ruchu pociągów, projektowania nowych tras kolejowych oraz szkolenia maszynistów" NN509 501338 finansowanego przez Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego.
In this paper a structure of a simplified rail vehicle simulator for training train drivers in conditions imitating real operating conditions is presented. Benefits resulting from use of rail vehicle simulators are presented. Various types of simulators and their advantages and disadvantages are described. Software-hardware structure of the realized simulator and its operation are presented and described. Respective systems of the simulator are described, such as: vision system, sound system, vehicle model, driver's desk model, motion system, routes and scenarios, exceptional situations and emergencies. This paper has been produced as part of the Research Project "Rail vehicles simulator for optimization of the energy consumption during operation of the vehicles, designing new railway tracks and training the drivers" N N509 501338, with the financial support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The article summarizes the types of hydrogen sources and the possibilities of using hydrogen in fuel cell technologies. The types of hydrogen fuel cells and solutions used in hydrogen powered drives were discussed. The current economic and ecological aspects affecting the possibilities and profitability of using various types of hydrogen as an alternative fuel in various forms of transport were analyzed, and forecasts for the development of this form of propulsion and power supply in transport for the coming years were presented. It was concluded that only a simultaneous increase in hydrogen production, through an increase in demand or technological development, combined with a decrease in the cost of hydrogen cells down to a level of at least $40/kW, would enable the proliferation of hydrogen technologies in all modes of transport.

W artykule przedstawiono akty prawne stosowane przy uzyskaniu zezwolenia na dopuszczenie do eksploatacji pojazdów szynowych zgodnych z wymaganiami Technicznych Specyfikacji Interoperacyjności (TSI). Opisano także tryb postępowania w przypadku wystąpienia o pierwsze zezwolenie dla pojazdu szynowego. Przedstawiono również tryb postępowania w przypadku, gdy pojazd szynowy ma zezwolenie do eksploatacji w innym państwie członkowskim Unii Europejskiej, a będzie eksploatowany również na terytorium Polski.

Y25 (25Tn) bogies have been used in freight cars for over 50 years. It is a proven design with a positive opinion in many European countries. In addition to the generally positive opinion about the operational properties of the Y25 bogies, there are sometimes publications whose authors notice certain imperfections related mainly to the so-called running instability, resulting in derailment under certain motion conditions. This paper presents results simulation of motion tests of a freight car with Y25 bogies. A freight car model was created using the VI-Rail software. The research focus on determining the critical velocity and examining nature of the model solutions in the overcritical velocity range. Straight track as well as curved track motion is analysed. Empty and full wagon properties are considered. Impact of changes the suspension system selected parameters values on vehicle model solutions stability as well as the vehicle impact on track was analysed.

In this article mechatronic controller of brake pipe pressure was presented being the result of research and development work carried out at the Center of Rail Vehicles in Poznań. This function is performed by the module using binary voltage signals. Its structural structure and functionality are described and the results of empirical research are presented. The analysis of the research results indicates that the developed module can be used in the control systems of the railway air brake.

The e-commerce market is gaining popularity globally every year. This market also entails the need to deliver the purchased goods at a time that is affordable for the user. One of the solutions is the use of High Speed Railway (HSR) for freight purposes, which is characterized by a relatively low rate of environmental nuisance. Based on the latest available market data and a literature review, an extensive review of the use of HSR, including for cargo transport, has been performed. The article presents an analysis of the demand for express freight transport. The potential and the demand for freight HSR have been demonstrated. The activities and analysis concerning the use of HSR for freight transport were described. Rail freight transport in Poland, Europe and China are characterized. Data on the use of the HSR infrastructure in the world are presented. HSR vehicles use for the transport of goods were presented. The potential and possibilities of using freight HSR in Europe were described. Based on the data, the use of this type of transport seems justified for LDHV shipments when the delivery time is crucial for the user and when the railway infrastructure and rolling stock are properly adapted.

In the article a tool for calculating the braking distance of rail vehicles developed as part of R&D project conducted at the Institute of Rail Vehicles in Poznan (Poland) was presented. The tool used high-level programming language – Python for determining the braking distance of railway vehicles in accordance with the algorithm presented in the EN 14531 standard. The developed tool takes into account the theoretical curve of pressure build-up in the brake cylinder and the variability of the friction coefficient with time during the braking process. The paper presents the results of calculating the braking distance of the electric multiple unit.

Paper presents analysis of intermodal rail transport in selected loading units. The brief description of the loading units is presented. The volume of intermodal rail transport of load units in European countries in 2021 is shown, taking into account mass of transported goods, transport performance and average transport distance. Goods in the intermodal transport are carried out in container, swap bodies, semi-trailers and road sets. The most frequently used loading unit is the container. Semi-trailers is the most often used loading unit in road freight transport. However, semitrailers are rarely used in intermodal transport in most European countries. In the case of Poland, the share of intermodal transport of containers and swap bodies by rail constitutes a significant share in the European market, however, the transport of semi-trailers and road sets is still a rather unpopular form of transport compared to other European countries.

The article focuses on the problem of energy intensity in rail vehicles and analyzes current technologies aimed at reducing it. A new method of correlation functions, determinations of power indexes and non-productive (additional) losses of electric power in the traction electric systems of direct-current have been suggested. The paper deals with the problems of the tram vehicle control according to the criterion of the minimum electric energy consumption. The authors have extended the methodics given in literature and have elaborated the algorithm of the energy-saving tram traffic taking into consideration various ride disturbances. During the running within the framework of the city conditions tram ride parameters change frequently. The mathematical models take into account the field-oriented control of traction three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors. Determination of the run algorithm ensuring the minimization of the electric energy use has been realized by application of the optimization procedure.

This paper presents the modelling and design optimization of an axial-flux brushless permanent-magnet motor with one rotor-two stators configuration. This particular axial-flux machine is suitable to traction applications. The reason is that, firstly, fixing ofthe stators may be arranged reasonably easily, secondly, the topology with two stators is able to operate even if one of its stators is electrically disconnected; thirdly, the axial loading of bearings is small due to the symmetry of the motor structure. A prototype machine was designed and manufactured for verifying the design optimization results.

The railway technical means used in the intermodal transport are presented in this paper. The short characteristic of the presented transport systems is presented and the comparative analysis of meeting the valid requirements of the clearance gauge on the railway lines "AGTC" by the reported transport systems is made.

W pracy przedstawiono nowe podejście w projektowaniu optymalnego siedziska maszynisty. Podejście to bazuje na teorii regulatorów przystosowujących się do zakłóceń, która pozwala opracować zamknięty wielowymiarowy układ wibroizolacji, monitorujący w czasie rzeczywistym siedzisko maszynisty pojazdu szynowego. Przedstawione wyniki obliczeń potwierdziły efektywność zaprezentowanej metody, wyrażoną zwiększeniem stabilności obiektu sterowanego.
In this work the new approach in designing of the optimal driver's seat is presented. This approach bases on the theory of the regulators adapting to the disturbances, that allows to develop the closed multidimensional system of the vibration isolation monitoring in the real time the driver's seat of the rail vehicle. The presented results of the calculations confirmed the efficiency of the presented method that is expressed in increasing of the stability of the controlled object.

The main topic of this article is the strength analysis of selected bogie components – the wheelset axle and the frame. Axle calculations were based on the analytical method and were conducted with different types of materials. The finite element method was used for verification of bogie frame construction and loads applied on the frame were calculated according to the PN-EN 13749 norm. The bogie is a part of suspended electric multiple unit which was main matter of authors’ master thesis: „The concept of suspended railway engine wagon”, conducted on Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Gdansk University of Technology.

The article presents the result of modernization of the SM42 locomotive carried out by H. Cegielski Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych from Poznań (Poland). The scope of modernization was discussed and the parameters of the locomotive before and after the introduced changes were presented. The new engine used in the locomotive was described and its parameters confirming the fulfillment of the requirements of the STAGE V standard were presented. Moreover, further development opportunities for the SM42 6D-FPS locomotive were discussed.
