The article presents the shaping of identity in Wir Strebermigranten (2017, title in translation We, superimmigrants) and Rückkehr nach Polen (2019). The article posits the following thesis. The crisis of identity and the impression of assimilation being disrupted in Germany as presented in both works result from the complex problem of “being in between” the German nationality and Polish nationality. The will to manage the traumatization caused by cultural interference makes the outline of a ‘double biography’ visible in both works, especially in Wir Strebermigranten. The author also makes an exhausting attempt to portray the articulation of the collective identity of the Polish migrants of the so-called second generation, who immigrated to Germany in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Der Aufsatz geht der Triade Liebe-Erinnern-Identität in drei Romanen von Anna Mitgutsch nach. Die identitätsstiftende Funktion der Liebe kommt dort auf besondere Weise zum Vorschein — da es kein liebendes Wir mehr gibt, das die Figuren über ihre Unsicherheit hinwegretten könnte, wird dieses in der Erinnerungsarbeit (re)konstruiert. Den Ausgangspunkt der Erwägungen bildet der von der Autorin in ihrem programmatischen Essay zitierte Satz von Ruth Klüger, der in einer umgewandelten Form das Wesen der erinnerten Liebe pointiert: „Die Erinnerung an die Liebe überwindet die Unerträglichkeit dieser Liebe indem sie eine Liebe zurechtbastelt.“
The article is devoted to the topical triad: love-reminiscences-identity in three novels by Anna Mitgutsch. The key role of love in building up identity takes in them a special form on — due to the lack of love ties which could save one from insecurity, the heroines reconstruct it in their reminiscences. The point of departure of these deliberations is the statement of Ruth Klüger, quoted by the writer in her artistic manifesto, which—in a transformed form—conveys the contents of the mentioned loves: “The reminiscence of love overcomes the unbearableness of this love, thus creating the real love.”
Artykuł poświęcony jest triadzie miłość-wspomnienia-tożsamość w trzech powieściach Anny Mitgutsch. Kluczowa rola miłości w tworzeniu tożsamości przybiera w nich formę szczególną — z braku miłosnej wspólnoty, która ratowałaby przed niepewnością, bohaterki (re)konstruują ją we wspomnieniach. Punktem wyjścia rozważań jest cytowane przez pisarkę w jej programowym eseju stwierdzenie Ruth Klüger, które w zmienionej formie oddaje istotę wspominanych miłości: „Wspomnienie miłości przezwycięża nieznośność tejże miłości, tworząc właściwą miłość.”

Po okresie ogromnych zniszczeń wynikłych wskutek obydwóch wojen światowych oraz jeszcze w czasie panowania systemu komunizmu sowieckiego w Środkowej i Wschodniej Europie Robert Schuman i grupa znakomitych polityków zdecydowali się - przede wszystkim z chrześcijańskich motywów - na „pojednanie zamiast odpłaty” lub zemsty, co doprowadziło w dniu 25 marca 1957 roku do podpisania umowy, tworzącej Europejska Wspólnoty Gospodarcza, z której wyrosła obecna Unia Europejska. Tożsamość Europy określona została istotowo przez filozofię grecka, prawo rzymskie i Objawienie judeo-chrześcijańskie w Osobie Jezusa z Nazaretu. Stąd zagrożeniem dla samoświadomości Narodów Starego Kontynentu są różne ideologie deformujące obiektywne i realistyczne rozumienie rzeczywistości, takie jak: kolektywistyczny materializm, feminizm, liberalizm czy ekologizm, mające swoje decydujące źródło w reformacji Marcina Lutra, w której doszło do załamania się istoty kultury europejskiej. Benedykt XVI w swoim przemówieniu w Ratyzbonie wskazał na patologie absolutyzacji rozumu ludzkiego aż do jego całkowitej instrumentalizacji w nazizmie hitlerowskim i komunizmie sowieckim, co uwidocznia się także dzisiaj m.in. w legalizacji aborcji i eutanazji bądź związków homoseksualnych. Niebezpieczny dla rozwoju Europy jest postępujący proces jej dechrystianizacji poprzez różne formy rewolucji a głównie poprzez neomarksistowska rewolucję kulturowa jako ideologię nienawiści i zarazem dyktatury relatywizmu, aż po akceptacje badan na komórkach macierzystych. Także emocjonalnie prowadzona dyskusja nad traktatem konstytucyjnym uzewnętrznia brak istotowej zgody, co do pytania o integralna tożsamość europejska. Europa istnieje jakoś i niekiedy odnosi sukcesy, ale głównie natury drugorzędnej, jednak jej aktualna bytowość nie posiada fundamentów prawno-religijno-kulturowych.

Opis:
Petra Reski (born in 1958) is a German writer from the post-war generation. Its representatives confront with dramatic consequences of the Second World War like the loss of homeland, the experience of escape and forced displacement. The article focuses on the Reski’s novel Ein Land so weit in the context of space. The narrator describes a sentimental journey to the home village in Warmia and family past. She documents impressions that combine different time dimensions, generations and memories.
Petra Reski (urodzona w 1958 roku) jest niemiecką pisarką pokolenia powojennego, które konfrontuje się z dramatycznymi konsekwencjami II wojny światowej takimi jak utrata ojczyzny, doświadczenie ucieczki i wypędzenia. Problematyka artykułu skupia się na powieści pt. Daleki kraj w kontekście kategorii przestrzeni. Narratorka opisuje sentymentalną podróż do rodzinnej wsi na Warmii i przeszłości przodków. Dokumentuje przeżycia powstałe na styku różnych wymiarów czasowych, pokoleń i ich wspomnień.

This study is a pastoral and theological text. It presents the concept of Christianity and Christian identity, according to John Baptist Metz. The article is divided into three main parts. After a short presentation of the German theologian, the first part discusses the necessity of de-privatization of religion, which is necessary in order that the experience of the world would become the experience of believers. The second part is a challenge to combine contemplatio with actio. Consequently, the third part presents the Christian identity as an actio, warning against the private, passive, and bourgeois religion.
Niniejsze studium jest pastoralno-teologicznym tekstem. Przedstawia koncepcję chrześcijaństwa i chrześcijanina według Jana Baptysty Metza. Dzieli się na trzy główne części. Po krótkiej prezentacji postaci niemieckiego teologa pierwsza część omawia konieczność od-prywatyzowania religii, co jest szczególnie konieczne, aby doświadczenie świata stało się doświadczeniem wierzących. Druga część jest wyzwaniem do łączenia contemplatio z actio. W związku z tym trzecia część przedstawia tożsamość chrześcijanina jako czyn, ostrzegając przed prywatną, pasywną, mieszczańską religią.

Each region is sometimes identified by tourists not only through its tourist attractions but also increasingly by culinaries, which is a part of the wider culinary tourism. The space in which culinaries are manifested are culinary places – restaurants, where you are served often regional dishes. The subject of our discussion are the names of the restaurants in Wroclaw and the aim is to examine whether, as such, they can contribute to regional identity. The corpus includes approximately one thousand names of Wroclaw’s modern restaurants, which were ordered according to their composition and underlying motivation.
Kulinarny Wrocław – W poszukiwaniu tożsamości regionalnej na przykładzie nazw restauracji we Wrocławiu Turyści łączą z danym regionem nie tylko atrakcje turystyczne, ale także potrawy, które są charakterystyczne dla kuchni danego regionu. Trend łączenia podróżowania z poznawaniem kuchni narodowej czy lokalnej wpisuje się w aktualnie dynamicznie rozwijającą się turystykę kulinarną. Szczególną rolę w podróżowaniu tego typu, poświęconemu przede wszystkim poznawaniu nowych smaków, odgrywają miejsca kulinarne – przede wszystkim restauracje, w których podawane są potrawy regionalne. Przedmiotem niniejszego opracowania są nazwy restauracji we Wrocławiu. Analiza ma na celu udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy nazwy wrocławskich restauracji zawierają komponenty, które stanowiłyby nawiązania do kulinarnej tożsamości regionalnej. Korpus składa się z około tysiąca nazw restauracji wrocławskich. Zgromadzone nazwy zostały podzielone strukturalnie oraz według kryterium motywacji.

This article attempts to address the specificities of the Silesia on the example of selected poems by contemporary female and male authors who feel connected to this corner in the center of Europe and searching for their own identity. The research methodology revolves around biographical threads related to the turbulent history of Silesia, which has shaped the destiny of these writers. The national aspects of Silesia’s historical past are reflected in the subject matter of the lyrical works presented. At the same time, the regional perspective is broken by themes and threads relating to poetic reflections on human existence. It should be emphasized that the poems presented hardly belong to the highest category of fiction. These works show how a particular region with its volatile and often tragic history inspires artistically sensitive individual and enables them to experience the aesthetics captured in poetic images.

Zagłada Żydów zajmuje bardzo ważne miejsce w polskiej literaturze powojennej od czasów drugiej wojny światowej aż do współczesności. Autorzy artykułu koncentrują się przede wszystkim na ważnych debatach dotyczących polsko-żydowskiej przeszłości, zwłaszcza czasów okupacji faszystowskiej. W centrum zainteresowania znajdują się wybrane teksty współczesnej literatury polskiej analizowane w szerokim kontekście historycznym, społeczno-politycznym i kulturowym. Rozważono, w jaki sposób przedstawiciele różnych pokoleń podchodzą do tematyki Żydów w Polsce oraz Zagłady. W analizach skoncentrowano się na trzech znaczących dziełach literackich: Chmurdaliach Joanny Bator (2010), Rozwiązłej Jarosława Kamińskiego (2011) i Nocy żywych Żydów Igora Ostachowicza (2012), które prezentują różne podejścia pisarzy do skomplikowanej polsko-żydowskiej przeszłości oraz ilustrują istotne przesunięcia w sposobie jej opisywania. Zauważono zmianę w podejściu do tabuizowanych tematów warunków życiowych w obozach koncentracyjnych (przestępstwa, przemoc seksualna, prostytucja) oraz traktowaniu żydowskości, która staje się ważnym, lecz nie dominującym motywem literackim. W najnowszej literaturze poszukiwanie korzeni oraz tożsamości żydowskiej na podstawie dokumentów czy zdjęć często skutkuje barwnymi rekonstrukcjami polsko-żydowskich losów.
The Representation of the Holocaust in Polish literature can be pursued from World War II up to contemporary narratives. The authors of this text concentrate on important debates in Poland concerning first of all the common as well as separate Polish-Jewish past in history, but mainly in times of the German fascist occupation. Following their literary studies they give a brief survey of the mentioned topic, concentrating mainly on three exemplary Polish books: Joanna Bator Chmurdalia (2010), Jarosław Kamiński Rozwiązła (2011), and Igor Ostachowicz Noc żywych Żydów (2012). The literary analysis of these texts is related to Polish history, culture, and politics, concerning first of all crucial changes in the society and culture. The chosen writers and their works demonstrate different approaches to an uncertain, complicated Polish Jewish past. They illustrate important changes in literature towards documentary and fictional narratives. More and more tabooed topics of the extreme living conditions during the Nazi occupation in and outside of the concentration camps are considered – crime, various forms of sexuality and prostitution. Jewish life stories as well as the holocaust turn meanwhile into ‚normal‘ motives in contemporary Polish narratives. Searching for their own roots, identity and family traces on the basis of documents, reports or photos often results in colourful reconstructions of Polish-Jewish fates, a striking tendency not only in contemporary Polish literature.

Am Beispiel scheinbar ‚typischer‘ polnischer Sprichwörter wird in dem vorliegenden Beitrag gezeigt, dass das ‚Typische‘ einer Kultur als Ergebnis einer diskursiven, mitunter strittigen oder auch spöttischen Auseinandersetzung darüber aufzufassen ist. Die Zuschreibung von Identität resultiert danach aus der permanenten Auseinandersetzung einer Kultur darüber, was aus einer eigenen oder fremden Perspektive als kulturell unverwechselbar angesehen wird.
Na przykładzie ‚typowo‘ polskich przysłów podjęto w niniejszym artykule próbę zdefiniowania ‚typowości‘ danej kultury jako wyniku dyskursywnej, niekiedy spornej a nawet szyderczej polemiki. Przypisanie tożsamości wynika więc z ciągłego sporu o to, co z własnej lub obcej perspektywy określić można jako kulturowo immanentne, a przez to jedyne w swoim rodzaju.
Using the example of seemingly ‚typical‘ Polish proverbs, it will be shown that what is ‚typical‘ within and of a culture can be understood as the outcome of a discursive quarrel, which is controversial or even taunting at times. Accordingly, the adscription of identity stems from an ongoing dispute about what is seen as culturally distinctive from an emic and etic perspective.

Der vielseitig begabte, heute vergessene Lemberger Jude Alfred Nossig (1864-1943) hinterließ literarische Texte in Polnisch und Deutsch. Der Aufsatz analysiert drei seiner Dramen im Hinblick auf die Identitätsproblematik und biographische Fragen in Nossigs kompliziertem Leben, dem ein im Warschauer Ghetto von jüdischen Kämpfern vollstrecktes Todesurteil ein Ende setzte.
Wszechstronnie uzdolniony, dzisiaj zapomniany lwowski Żyd Alfred Nossig (1864-1943) zostawił po sobie teksty literackie w języku polskim i niemieckim. Artykuł analizuje trzy spośród jego dramatów pod kątem problematyki tożsamościowej i odniesień biograficznych do skomplikowanych losów ich autora, zastrzelonego w getcie warszawskim przez żydowskich bojowców.  
The multitalented, today forgotten, Lemberger Jew Alfred Nossig (1864-1943) left literary texts in Polish and German. This paper analyses three of his dramas from the point of view of the identity-problems and the biographic items in Nossig’s complicated life, ended with an execution by the Jewish fighters in the ghetto of Warsaw.

Im Beitrag wird auf die gegenwärtige Situation des deutschen Minderheitenunterrichts in Polen eingegangen. Dabei wird die aktuelle Sachlage aus der Perspektive der dreißigjährigen Entwicklung der deutschen Minderheitensprache im polnischen Schulsystem auf der formaljuristischen, gesellschaftlichen und didaktischen Ebene ergründet. Den Schwerpunkt der Analyse bilden prinzipiell unterrichtskundliche Aspekte. Entsprechend wird eine Neudefinition der deutschen Minderheitensprache im didaktischen Bezugsrahmen und die Bearbeitung eines entsprechenden Lehrwerkes für notwendig erklärt.
Artykuł dotyczy aktualnej sytuacji nauczania języka niemieckiego jako języka mniejszości w Polsce. Obecne uwarunkowania rozpatrywane zostają z perspektywy trzydziestoletniego rozwoju nauczania tej formy języka niemieckiego w polskim systemie szkolnym na poziomie formalno-prawnym, społecznym i dydaktycznym. W centrum analizy umiejscowione zostały w szczególności aspekty edukacyjne. Konieczność redefinicji pojęcia języka niemieckiego jako języka mniejszości na poziomie dydaktycznym i opracowanie odpowiedniego podręcznika, spełniającego kryteria dydaktyczno-metodologiczne, to główne wnioski poniższej analizy.
The article deals with the current situation of German minority teaching in Poland. The current situation is explored from the perspective of the thirty-year development of the German minority language in the Polish school system on the formal legal, social and didactic level. In principle, the focus of the analysis is placed on educational aspects. Accordingly, a redefinition of the German minority language in the didactic frame of reference and the processing of a corresponding textbook are declared necessary.

Anfang der 1990er-Jahre kam eine beachtliche Anzahl junger Schriftsteller mit Migrationshintergrund zum Vorschein, die in der multikulturellen Schweiz entweder auf Deutsch oder Französisch mit literarischem Schreiben begannen. Eine besondere Stellung nimmt unter ihnen Franco Supino (geb. 1965) ein, der mit seinem Debütwerk "Musica Leggera" (1995) einen neuen Trend in der deutschsprachigen Schweizer Literatur bestätigte. Die neue Tendenz besteht in der literarischen Schilderung der kulturellen und ethno-nationalen Identitätsproblematik sowohl der Migrantengeneration als auch deren bereits in der Schweiz geborener Kinder. In dem Beitrag wird am Beispiel des Werkes von Franco Supino die literarische Darstellung der Zugehörigkeitsgefühle und der identitätsstiftenden Erinnerungen an vergangene Momente besprochen, wie sie sich zwischen der ersten und der zweiten Generation der in der Schweiz lebenden Zugewanderten gestalten, wobei der Schwerpunkt der Analyse auf die Vertreter der zweiten, als ‚Secondos‘ bezeichneten Generation gelegt wird, die zwischen der traditionell italienischen Kultur der Eltern und der modernen Schweizer Kultur der 1980er-Jahre ihren Weg zur Identitätsfindung finden müssen.
W okresie od początku lat 1990-tych uwidoczniła się znaczna liczba młodych pisarzy z tłem migracyjnym, którzy zaczęli pisać albo po niemiecku, albo po francusku w wielokulturowej Szwajcarii. Wśród nich szczególną pozycję zajął Franco Supino (ur. 1965), który utworem "Musica Leggera" (1995) potwierdził nowy trend w literaturze niemieckojęzycznej Szwajcarii, polegający na literackim ukazaniu motywu rozmycia tożsamości kulturowo-narodowej pokolenia migrantów, bądź też urodzonych już w Szwajcarii ich dzieci. Na przykładzie utworu Franco Supino omówiono literacką interpretację motywu tożsamościotwórczych wspomnień, a także przynależności kulturowej, które wyrażane są w odmienny sposób przez migrantów pierwszego i drugiego pokolenia. W artykule analizowane jest drugie pokolenie migrantów, określanych często jako ‘Secondos’, którzy budują swoją tożsamość między włoską kulturą tradycyjnie pielęgnowaną przez ich rodziców a nowoczesną kulturą Szwajcarii lat 1980-tych.
In the period from the beginning of the 1990s, a significant number of young writers with a migration background became apparent who began to write either in German or in French in multicultural Switzerland. Among them, a special position was occupied by Franco Supino (born 1965), who, with the novel "Musica Leggera" (1995), confirmed a new trend in the German-language Swiss literature, consisting in the literary presentation of the motif of the blurred cultural and national identity among the migrant generation or their children who were already born in Switzerland. Based on the example of the mentioned novel by Franco Supino, the literary interpretation of the motif of identity-forming memories is discussed, as well as cultural belonging, which are expressed differently by the first and the second migrant generation. The paper analyzes the second generation of migrants, often referred to as ‘Secondos’, who develop their identity between the Italian culture traditionally nurtured by their parents and the modern Swiss culture of the 1980s.

Der Begriff der Geschichte und das Erzählen von Geschichten über eigenes Leben sind die Hauptfragen der Poetik von Peter Bichsel. Der Autor versteht die Geschichte als Reflexion des Menschen über sich selbst und als Versuch subjektiver Deutung der Ereignisse in Erzählungen über eigenes Leben, was seiner Ansicht nach zum besseren Selbstverständnis führt. So begriffene Geschichte avanciert zu einer anthropologischen Konstante, was ihre Deutung aus der psychologischen und philosophischen Perspektive zulässt. Die Erzählpoetik von Bichsel wurde im vorliegenden Beitrag in Anlehnung an Erkenntnisse der sich in den letzten Jahren dynamisch entwickelnden narrativen Psychologie erklärt, die Erzählung als Mittel zum Verständnis der Wirklichkeit betrachtet und den Erzählungen über eigenes Leben eine therapeutische Funktion zuschreibt. Aus den philosophischen Perspektive dagegen in Anlehnung an Behauptungen der Geschichtenphilosophie von Wilhelm Schapp, die den Menschen als (Mit)Verstrickten in eigene Geschichten und in Geschichten anderer Menschen auffasst. Und in Anlehnung an die Theorie der narrativen Identität von Paul Ricœur, nach der der Mensch durch Erzählungen über eigenes Leben eigene Identität konstruiert.
The concept of story and storytelling about own life are the main issues of Peter Bichsel’s poetics. Story in his depiction is defined as a reflection of the man himself and the subjective test to clarify events from his own life trough individually formulated stories, which approximate better understanding oneself. So understood stories rise to the rank of anthropological standard which enables its interpretation from the perspective of both psychological and philosophical prospect. Bichsel’s literary schedule was explained in this article on the basic of dynamically prospering in the last several years narrative psychology. It treats narration as a way of understanding reality and assigns therapeutic function to the stories. However from the philosophical perspective based on Wilhelm Schapp’s philosophy of stories expressing the human entangled in his own stories and based on Paul Ricœur’s narrative identity theory assuming that human is constructing his own identity by creating stories about his own life.
Pojęcie historii i opowiadanie historii o własnym życiu stanowią centralne zagadnienia poetyki Petera Bichsla. Historia w jego ujęciu rozumiana jest jako refleksja człowieka o nim samym oraz próba subiektywnego wyjaśnienia zdarzeń z własnego życia poprzez samodzielnie konstruowane opowiadania, które zbliżają człowieka do lepszego zrozumienia siebie. Tak rozumiana historia urasta do rangi antropologicznej konstanty, co umożliwia jej interpretację z perspektywy zarówno psychologicznej, jak i filozoficznej. Literacki program Bichsla został w niniejszym artykule wyjaśniony w oparciu o założenia dynamicznie rozwijającej się w ostatnich kilkunastu latach psychologii narracyjnej, która narrację traktuje jako sposób rozumienia rzeczywistości, a opowiadaniom o własnym życiu przypisuje funkcję terapeutyczną, z perspektywy filozoficznej natomiast w oparciu o twierdzenia filozofii historii Wilhelma Schappa, ujmującej człowieka jako uwikłanego w historie własne oraz innych ludzi, i w oparciu o teorię tożsamości narracyjnej Paula Ricœura, zakładającej, że człowiek konstruuje własną tożsamość poprzez tworzenie opowiadań o własnym życiu.

Im Autobiographiediskurs spielen Romane bisher keine nennenswerte Rolle als theoretische Impulsgeber. Der vorliegende Beitrag zeigt, dass STEN NADOLNYS Selim oder Die Gabe der Rede eine autofiktionale Situation im inneren der diegetischen Welt erzeugt und sich damit für die Reflexion autobiographietheoretischer Problemkontexte eignet. Mit Rekurs auf Kristevas Überlegungen zur Selbst-Fremdheit werden die ‚autofiktionalen‘ Schreibakte vorgeführt, die das Individuum auch vom Fremden her erschreiben. Als dezentrierte Selbstlebensbeschreibung überschreitet NADOLNYS Roman damit gängige Formen der Autofiktion.
W rozważaniach nad autobiografią gatunek powieściowy odgrywał do niedawna mało istotną rolę jako przedmiot badań. Artykuł pokazuje, że powieść STENA NADOLNEGO Selim oder Die Gabe der Rede tworzy w świecie przedstawionym sytuację autofikcjonalną. Tym samym można ten utwór poddać teoretycznej refleksji w odniesieniu do autobiografii. W kontekście rozważań Julii Kristevy na temat obcości podmiotu wobec samego siebie, przedstawione zostają autofikcjonalne strategie pisarskie, które wywodzą autobiografię od ‚obcego’. Powieść NADOLNEGO – można ją nazwać ‚zdezorientowanym’ opisem samego siebie – przekracza wobec tego tradycyjne formy autofikcji.
Discourse concerning autobiography does not usually include novels as material for theoretical study. This article demonstrates how STEN NADOLNY’S novel Selim oder Die Gabe der Rede creates an autofictional situation within a diegetic world; therefore it may be a subject of reflection on theoretical problems associated with autobiography. In the context of Julia Kristeva’s deliberations on self-alienation, the Author discusses ‘autofictional’ acts of writing that describe the self through the ‘other’. As decentered life-writing, NADOLNY’S novel transcends common forms of autofiction.

Mit ihrem Debütroman Außer sich (2017) unternimmt Sasha Marianna Salzmann einen Streifzug durch die Geschichte der letzten hundert Jahre und thematisiert anhand von vier Generationen die Themen Flucht, Migration, Geschlecht, Identitätssuche und Generationstraumata. Im Mittelpunkt der Handlung steht die Mitte 20-jährige Alissa, genannt Ali, die getrieben von der Suche nach ihrem Zwillingsbruder Anton nach Istanbul reist. Grenzen und deren Überschreitungen stehen im Zentrum des Romans. Geschlechtliche Grenzen werden in Form transgeschlechtlichen Personen unterlaufen, geographische Grenzen durch Orts- und Zeitwechsel überschritten. Kulturelle und sprachliche Grenzen sind Begleiterscheinungen der in Raum und Zeit changierenden Erinnerungsarbeit. Der Artikel wird sich auf drei für den Roman wesentlichen Grenzbegriffe fokussieren: Geographische/territoriale Grenzen, zeitliche Grenzen, geschlechtliche und individuelle Grenzen.
With her debut novel Außer sich (2017), Sasha Marianna Salzmann undertakes a journey through the history of the last hundred years and explores the themes of flight, migration, gender, the search for identity, and generational trauma through four generations. The plot centers on Alissa, called Ali, a woman in her mid-20s, who travels to Istanbul driven by the search for her twin brother Anton. Boundaries and their transgressions are at the heart of the novel. Gender boundaries are subverted in the form of transgender characters, geographical boundaries are transgressed through changes of place and time. Cultural and linguistic boundaries are concomitants of memory work that shifts in space and time. The article will focus on three limit-concepts essential to the novel: Geographical boundaries, temporal boundaries, and gender boundaries.
W swojej debiutanckiej powieści Außer sich (2017) Sasha Marianna Salzmann wybiera się w podróż przez historię ostatnich stu lat i ukazuje ją na przykładzie czterech generacji, podejmując tematy: ucieczki, migracji, płci, poszukiwania tożsamości oraz traum pokoleniowych. Główna bohaterka, ok. 25-letnia Alissa, zwana Ali, wyrusza do Stambułu w poszukiwaniu Antona, swojego brata bliźniaka. Granice płci podważają transpłciowi bohaterowie, granice geograficzne zostają przekroczone dzięki zmianom miejsc i czasu. Granice kulturowe i językowe towarzyszą operującej w przestrzeni i czasie pracy pamięci. Autorka artykułu skupia się na trzech istotnych dla powieści znaczeniach granic: granicach geograficznych/terytorialnych, granicach czasowych oraz granicach płciowych i indywidualnych.
