Opis:
The diagnostics of power transformers is a very fast developing branch. Due to increasing average age of assets and changes in asset management strategies, nowadays companies introduce asset management based on technical condition. One of important methods used for diagnostics of a transformer’s active part is Frequency Response Analysis (FRA). It allows determination of mechanical condition of windings, their displacements, deformations and electric faults, as well as some problems with internal leads and connections, core and bushings. In the FRA measurements of many power transformers there can be observed a first resonance, which position on frequency axis and damping factor seems to be similar for primary and secondary windings. The authors are going to explain this strange phenomenon, not depending on inductance of the winding being measured.

Opis:
The paper presents the idea of a Cross Test Comparison (CTC) method for the analysis of Frequency Response measurement results. FRA is used to detect deformations or electric faults in transformer windings. At the current stage of FRA method development, it is possible to perform repetitive measurements, however there are still problems with interpretation of test results. Authors of this paper found that analysis of results coming from two test setups (end-to-end and interwinding capacitive), which is done simultaneously is a more sensitive tool to detect some faults, and in addition it binds the influence of both voltage sides of a transformer in a single test result. The paper contains results obtained from laboratory tests, where controlled deformations were introduced into windings and also measurements from industry. The CTC method combines both the end-to-end and capacitive interwinding measurements into a single dataset, by subtracting the amplitudes at the corresponding frequencies. The resulting combined dataset is more sensitive in identifying deviations from baseline measurements.

Opis:
The paper presents results of deformational tests conducted on the real transformer. The aim of the research was to compare the influence of various winding deformations on the frequency response measured in standard end-to-end connection setup as well as in interwinding setup. The results showed that for all kinds of simulated deformations interwinding measurements show changes in wide frequency range. In many cases these changes are easier to be detected than for end-to-end measurements. It is recommended to perform interwinding measurements for transformers having changes in frequency response after standard end-to-end tests.

Opis:
This paper presents sensitivity of Frequency Response Analysis method applied to detection of interturn faults. Frequency response has been carried out on a special Reduced Scale Traction Transformer (RSTT). The RSTT has the wound iron core and eight coils arranged in the “core” type of construction. Many papers have been published on FRA techniques for detection of shorted turns but still there are some issues that need to be addressed. The simulated faults presented in the paper include different values of shorting resistance and different localization of short-circuited turns. From the measurements performed on the transformer without faults, it can be concluded that handmade coils with the same type of construction differ significantly in frequency response. It is also concluded that FRA magnitude spectrum is sensitive to short-circuit, but for some ranges of shorting resistance only. FRA magnitude spectrum also changes with respect to localization of short-circuited turns. The frequency response showed shift in waveforms? in case of some resonant frequencies.
W referacie przedstawiono wyniki badań eksperymentalnych specjalnego Transformatora Trakcyjnego o Zredukowanej Skali (TTZS) z wykorzystaniem metody analizy odpowiedzi w dziedzinie częstotliwości.

For the ERc 1400-30/7 type bucket wheel excavator (BWE) used in various Romanian open pit mines, a virtual model of the boom was constructed in SolidWorks. On this model, the variable in time forces acting during the excavation process were simulated, and the time history analysis (time response) was performed. This dynamic time response analysis was performed for excavation of homogenous material only, considering the damping as being of Rayleigh’s type, where the damping matrix is a linear combination of the mass and stiffness matrices. Based on the conducted analysis, the displacements of the boom during excavation were observed.

Opis:
The paper deals with the modal analysis and frequency response analysis of a bucket wheel excavator (BWE) boom, obtained by simulation, based on a virtual model of an existing BWE boom. The boom, which generally is realized as a spatial truss, is the most vulnerable subsystem of the BWE, being submitted to severe operational loads characterized by very pronounced cyclical, dynamic and stochastic variability. This vulnerability is the consequence of its shape and constructive parameters and the nature, source and character of the external exciting loads to which it is exposed. The classical approach recommended by standards and norms cannot predict the occurrence of failures caused by vibration, which produces fatigue due to the load’s cyclical variability and the deformation produced by resonant vibration of some constitutive elements. As exciting load we considered the operational forces acting on the bucket wheel. In this manner we can take into account the constructive features - with modal analysis, and the vibration regime - with frequency response analysis. The proposed method is useful both in the design phase of new load-bearing structures of truss type subjected to high-variability forces, and also in refurbishment or improvement phases of the existing structures of this kind.

Opis:
Functionally Graded Materials (FGM) are extensively employed for hip plant component material due to their certain properties in a specific design to achieve the requirements of the hip-joint system. Nevertheless, if there are similar properties, it doesn’t necessarily indicate that the knee plant is efficiently and effectively working. Therefore, it is important to develop an ideal design of functionally graded material femoral components that can be used for a long period. A new ideal design of femoral prosthesis can be introduced using functionally graded fiber polymer (FGFP) which will reduce the stress shielding and the corresponding stresses present over the interface. Herein, modal analysis of the complete hip plant part is carried out, which is the main factor and to date, very few research studies have been found on it. Moreover, this enhances the life of hip replacement, and the modal, harmonic, and fatigue analysis determines the pre-loading failure phenomena due to the vibrational response of the hip. This study deals with the cementless hip plant applying the finite element analysis (FEA) model in which geometry is studied, and the femoral bone model is based in a 3D scan.

Opis:
The paper presents the method of assessment of the technical condition of the leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer of an F-16 Block C aircraft made from composite materials. The described method was an experimental measurement of the acoustic pressures generated by the technically operational element and the element with the distorted structural continuity and then a comparison of these pressures in the curves of time and frequency in order to assess how the damage impacts the parameters of the acoustic wave. The test was performed in a dual-channel system, the pressure was induced through impacts on the investigated element with an impact hammer and then, based on the measured induction parameters and the generated acoustic wave, the function of frequency response was calculated, based on which the authors assessed how the structural damage influenced the curve characteristics of the acoustic pressure in the domain of frequency. The described method may be used as an efficient method of non-destructive diagnostics of the airframe elements of an aircraft.

Opis:
In this paper, the vibration analysis in terms of modal and harmonic responses are investigated for the power station structure of Kenyir Dam in Terengganu, Malaysia. Modal analysis is carried out to provide the dynamic characteristics of the power station which includes the natural frequencies and mode shapes. Meanwhile, the harmonic response analysis is performed by applying the force to the structure to obtain the Frequency Response Function (FRF) in certain range of frequencies. A real scale threedimensional (3D) model of the Kenyir Dam power station is constructed using Solid Works software and imported to ANSYS software for the Finite Element (FE) analysis. A proper boundary condition is taken into consideration to demonstrate the real behaviour of the power station structure. From the results, six most significant natural frequencies and mode shapes including the FRF in all three axes are selected. The highest natural frequency value occurred at 5.4 Hz with the maximum deflection of 0.90361 m in the z axis direction. This value is important in order to verify whether the structure can overcome the resonance phenomenon from the external disturbance forces in the future.
