Opis:
Microstructure by the Mössbauer spectroscopy and approach to magnetic saturation in the bulk amorphous $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Me_7Y_2B_{20}$ ($Me_7$=$Y_7$, $Y_6Ti_1$ or $Zr_{2.5}Hf_{2.5}W_2$) alloys are investigated. The bulk amorphous $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Zr_{2.5}Hf_{2.5}W_2Y_2B_{20}$ alloy exhibits the best thermal stability and remains amorphous up to 901 K. Moreover, the quasi-dislocations dipoles present in this amorphous alloy have the largest width equal to 6.7 nm. After annealing this alloy below the crystallization temperature the enhancement of both the average hyperfine field and its standard deviation is observed which points to the increase in the atom packing density due to the decay of quasi-dislocation dipoles. After the annealing at 901 K the small amount of the crystalline α-FeCo phase is presented in this alloy. The same crystalline phase appears in the bulk $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Y_8Ti_1B_{20}$ and $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Y_9B_{20}$ alloys after annealing at 750 K and 840 K, respectively.

Effects of annealing on the disaccommodation phenomenon in bulk metallic glasses (BMGs), obtained by injection-casting method have been studied. The amorphous structure has been confirmed using X-ray diffractometer. The annealing process has been performed at temperature below the crystallization temperature. For all investigated samples the disaccommodation curves have been determined. The susceptibility and its disaccommodation have been used in order to define thermal and time stability of magnetic properties. Obtained results have also been used to determine activation energies of elementary processes.

This paper presents studies of the bulk amorphous alloys: $Fe_{60} Co_{10} Mo_2 Y_{8} B_{20}$ and $Fe_{60} Co_{10} Mo_2 W_1 Y_8 B_{19}$; Both compounds were obtained by means of the injection-casting method in which liquid alloy is forced under pressure into a copper mould. The structure of the samples was studied using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Based on the results of the X-ray diffraction studies, it was found that the samples were in the amorphous state. Scanning electron microscopy image analysis of fractured alloy samples indicated the presence of areas of varying degrees of relaxation: "smooth", "vein", and "flake" fractures. The manufactured ferromagnetic samples were characterized by so-called soft magnetic properties with a relatively high Curie temperature of more than 520 K. In the investigated samples, the saturation magnetization was found to have been decreased from 1.14 T to 1.13 T after the addition of W. Tungsten also contributed significantly to an increase in the value of the coercive field, from 27 A/m to 8685 A/m. Following the addition of just 1% of W to the alloy, a substantial change was observed in the form: of the static magnetic hysteresis loop: characterized by the so-called "wasp" shape. This result shows that an additional magnetically hard phase had appeared within the sample.

In order to obtain an alloy with a specific set of magnetic properties, the dominant influences of chemical component and thermal treatment selection need to be satisfied. In this paper, the results of investigations into the microstructure and magnetic properties of the following alloys are presented: amorphous Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈ and crystalline Fe₈₂Zr₆Y₁Nb₂Cu₁B₈. The structure and microstructure were examined using the Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry. The Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈alloy was found to be fully amorphous in the as-quenched state and the transmission Mössbauer spectrum for this alloy is typical of that for weak ferromagnets, with an average hyperfine field of 9.86(2) T. The shape of this spectrum was found to have changed noticeably in the case of the Fe₈₂Zr₆Y₁Nb₂Cu₁B₈ alloy. This change was attributed to the presence of the crystalline phase bcc-Fe.

The investigated sample was prepared by suction-casting method in the form of plate. The structure was studied using X-ray diffractometry. It was found that alloy was amorphous in the as-cast state. The magnetic properties were determined using completely automated set up for measurement of susceptibility and its disaccommodation. The disaccommodation curve was decomposed into three elementary processes, each of them was described by Gaussian distribution of relaxation times. From fit of theoretical curve the peak temperature, intensity at peak temperature, average activation energies, distribution parameter and pre-exponential factor of the Arrhenius law were determined. The obtained results indicate that the disaccommodation phenomenon in studied samples is related with directional ordering of atom pairs near the free volumes.

In alloy materials, the onset of crystallization temperature $(T_{x})$ is treated as the threshold of structural stability. In amorphous materials, this threshold is the temperature above which heterogeneous crystalline grains begin to appear. However, in amorphous materials, frozen nuclei of the crystalline grains also come into existence during the production process. These nuclei have a strong influence on the properties of the amorphous materials. The growth of the nuclei of the crystalline grains is possible even below the crystallization temperature, and maintaining control over their size allows the application properties, for example the magnetic properties, to be controlled. In this paper, the influence of two-stage isothermal annealing (below the crystallization temperature) on the structure and magnetic properties of $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Y_{8}W_{1}B_{20}$ alloy was investigated. Samples of the material were prepared in the form of plates, and subjected to thermal treatment at temperatures of 700 K and 770 K, for 1 and 3.5 hours, respectively.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of an investigation into the: microstructure, magnetic properties and influence of annealing temperature on the magnetocaloric effect of Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈ alloy in the as-quenched and partially crystalline state. The microstructure was investigated using Mössbauer spectroscopy. The magnetocaloric effect was observed as a change in the magnetic entropy, which was calculated from isothermal magnetization curves. Fully-amorphous Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈ alloys, in the as-quenched state, exhibit a Curie temperature equal to (340±5) K. The transmission Mössbauer spectrum for the as-quenched Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈ alloy is typical for weak ferromagnets with the average hyperfine field of 9.86(2) T. For this alloy in the as-quenched state, the changes in maximum magnetic entropy occur near the Curie points and are equal to 0.95 J/(kg K). Also, the maximum magnetic entropy changes decrease after partial crystallization.

Amorphous materials contain structural defects, which play a key role in the magnetization process within the condition known as the "approach to ferromagnetic saturation". This paper presents the results of magnetization studies, carried out on bulk Fe₆₁Co₁₀Ti₃Y₆B₂₀ alloy when under the influence of a strong magnetic field. The alloy samples were obtained in the form of a rod 1 mm in diameter, and tested in the as-quenched state and after an isothermal annealing process, at a temperature below the crystallization temperature. It was observed that the heat treatment, carried out below crystallization temperature Tₓ, leads to irreversible structural relaxations, specifically reorganizing the atomic configuration within the volume of the alloy into an amorphous structure.

In this work, the results of studies concerning the structure of polycrystalline and amorphous alloys are presented. The samples were produced in a single-step production process, using two different production methods, and under a protective argon atmosphere. The quenching speed of the molten alloy was different for each of the production methods. Samples were subjected to analysis using X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, and computer tomography. It has been shown that the samples manufactured with a higher cooling rate feature an amorphous structure; On the other hand, the samples obtained using the method with the lower cooling speed consist of crystallites of three crystalline phases with sizes of the order of μm. The amorphous samples exhibited a varied fracture surface as well as an increase in the contribution of pores to their volume, in comparison to the samples obtained at the lower cooling speed.

As a critical parameter β was chosen to be equal to 0.36 for these calculations, it confirmed that the alloys may be considered as ferromagnetic of the Heisenberg type. Additionally, using a vibrating sample magnetometer the magnetization and coercivity field were studied (in magnetic field up to 2 T).

A study has been conducted into the effects of substituting small quantities of alloying elements (tungsten and molybdenum) on the structure and magnetic properties of classical amorphous alloys that are based on the formula: Fe₆₁Co₁₀Y₈Me₁B₂₀. The structure of the resulting alloy samples was examined using X-ray diffraction, Mössbauer spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Based on the results of these studies, it was found that the obtained alloys were amorphous. Images from the scanning electron microscope were typical for amorphous materials. Cross-sectional images were homogeneous and did not contain "vein- and scale-type" precipitations. Studies examining the magnetic properties of the samples were carried out using a vibrating sample magnetometer. It was found that the alloy featuring the addition of tungsten exhibited a significantly greater saturation of magnetization and a substantially lower coercivity. This resulted from the fact that the atomic radius of tungsten is much larger than that of molybdenum, resulting in increased difference between the atomic constituents of the alloy; This, in turn, improves the glass-forming ability.
