    Opis:
    The presented study explores the possibility of creating and implementing educational program which would reduce intergroup bias in realistic high school setting. The project was based on the assumption that there is the need of easily applicable, anti-prejudice intervention, which would be appropriate to introduce into foreign language course books, would be universal in terms of changing negative attitudes and would meet all methodological requirements of language lessons. Crossed categorization and the common ingroup identity model were used as theoretical basis for 30 English lesson scenarios on B2 level (upper-intermediate). It was shown that after the intervention there was a signifi cant change in the students’ attitude toward the outgroup and the outgroup members. The implications of these fi ndings are discussed.

    In the article I discuss the subject matter of the educational film Blue Eyed in terms of using its wide cognitive and educational advantages in academic class with students. The subject matter is discussed in the context of dominant media culture. I stress the meaning of multimedia in creating social reality image and present multiplicity of an educational film's features.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie zagadnienia stereotypów istniejących na temat społeczności rumuńskiej. Artykuł koncentruje się na przybliżeniu teoretycznego zagadnienia istoty stereotypów, ich źródeł, funkcji oraz różnicy między uprzedzeniami. Artykuł przedstawia główne problemy dotyczące niechęci poznawania nowych kultur oraz braku zaangażowania w weryfikację ogólnie przyjętych stereotypów.
    The main purpose of this paper is to present basic stereotypes about Romania. The article shows origin and differences of stereotypes and prejudice. Also there was mentioned functions which stereotypes provide. Authors tried to present the main problems regarding the reluctance to learn about new cultures and the lack of commitment to the verification of generally accepted stereotypes.

    In this study, the Stereotype Content Model was used to determine if work related out-group traits represented on Competence and Warmth dimensions would be helpful in describing Polish work groups and potential interactions that may occur between them. The study was performed on a group of 98 participants. Taken that the Stereotype Content Model is based on stereotypes within intergroup function and analyzing this study results in the conclusion that by using the The SCM, it is possible to effectively describe and observe out-group interactions in the Polish work environment.

    In his book Fiasco Stanisław Lem is asking what human nature is, what man aspires to, how he achieves it. What is Good and Evil? Who will win in the eternal fight between these two forces? Human beings conquer the outer space, but do they manage to subdue their inner space? Accustomed to thinking about themselves as the peak of the civilization progress and the quintessence of the Universe, are men capable of accepting meekly the unpleasant truth that in this Universe they were not given any exceptional and honourable role? Lem’s answers shatter the comfortable anthropocentric ideas of mankind and its place in the world. The author speaks directly of the difficulties of liberating our consciousness from the accumulated complexes, stereotypes and prejudice, from the intolerance towards everything different, foreign and incomprehensible. He states that even when they conquer time and space, men are helpless in the face of the dark forces hidden deep inside their souls, in the face of the unavoidable fall of Earth’s civilization.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytanie: jak w ostatnim dwudziestoleciu kształtowały się postawy Polaków wobec Rosjan i Ukraińców, czy i w jakim stopniu ulegały one zmianie oraz w jakim stopniu na postawy te miały wpływ konflikty polityczne i bieżąca sytuacja na wschodzie Ukrainy. Za podstawę analizy posłużył materiał empiryczny pochodzący z badań prowadzonych corocznie przez CBOS na reprezentatywnych próbach ogólnopolskich, dotyczących deklarowanego stosunku (sympatii lub niechęci) do kilkunastu narodów, w tym do Rosjan i Ukraińców. Z badań wy-nika, że w okresie ostatnich dwudziestu lat systematycznie wzrastał odsetek Polaków deklarujących sympatię wobec Ukraińców. W ostatnich latach odnotowano także wzrost odsetka Polaków dobrze oceniających stosunki polsko-ukraińskie oraz deklarujących optymizm co do możliwości pojednania między oboma narodami. Nieco inaczej sytuacja przedstawia się w przypadku Rosji – tendencja nie ma tu charakteru liniowego. Postawy Polaków wobec Rosjan przybierają postać sinusoidy – po okresach wzrostu pozytywnych nastawień następują okresy spadku sympatii, zwłaszcza wówczas, gdy w stosunkach międzypaństwowych dochodzi do konfliktów na tle politycznym.
    The purpose of this article is to answer the following questions: how has the attitude of Poles to Russians and Ukrainians developed over the recent two decades? Has the attitude changed? How has it pertained to the political conflicts and the current situation in eastern Ukraine? The analysis is based on the empirical material obtained from Public Opinion Research Centre (CBOS) surveys held annually on representative national samples to ponder the declared attitudes (friendliness or reserve) to a dozen or so nations, including Russians and Ukrainians. The surveys reveal that the percent of the Poles declaring friendly feelings towards Ukrainians has grown steadily over the recent twenty years. Over the last years too, the percent of the Poles who share a positive view of Polish-Ukrainian relations and declare optimism about a chance for reconciliation between the two nations has also been recorded to go up. The situation is somewhat different in the case of Russia – here the tendency is not linear. The attitudes of Poles towards Russians change sinusoidally – periods when the percent of positive attitudes is on the rise are interspersed with periods of dwindling friendliness, especially when conflicts of political nature develop in the mutual relationships between the states.

    Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express (1934) remains well-read, and its hero Hercule Poirot continues to enjoy popular currency. Yet the text has not aged well due to some of its now clichéd plot developments and dialogue, as well as Christie’s depiction of class, ethnic and national prejudices in it and her other novels. This study hopes to re-energize discussion on Murder by finding defensible reasons for its apparent flaws. Not only do the stereotypical behaviors of the passengers narratively distract Poirot and the reader from a solution, but their flaws serve as foils against which Poirot’s heroic gravitas and cultural values are positively contrasted. Further, criticism often misses the point that the passengers are performing their behaviors, and if so, the deployment of stereotypes as only acted performances destabilizes them as permanent aspects of national or ethnic identity. Can Murder then be read as an anti-racist text?

    In this article the authors are describing the situation of Ukrainian youth who come to Poland and start their education in Polish high schools. What do the first days of their stay in Poland look like? Do their expectations about Poland meet the reality? What do they complain about? What do they like about Poland? What problems are highlighted by their Polish teachers from one of Cracow educational institutions? How are these problems addressed? What should be done to improve the situation of young Ukrainians who, after graduating from Polish high schools, will soon be admitted into Polish universities? Those are only some of the questions that the authors are trying to answer by analysing the results of the study conducted in one of the boarding schools in Cracow.
    Autorki w swoim artykule opisują sytuację młodzieży ukraińskiej, która po przyjeździe do Polski podejmuje naukę w polskich szkołach średnich. Jak wyglądają ich pierwsze dni w Polsce? Jak wypada konfrontacja wyobrażeń na temat Polski z rzeczywistością? Na co narzekają? Co im się w Polsce podoba? Na jakie problemy związane z obecnością młodych Ukraińców wskazują ich polscy opiekunowie – wychowawcy w jednej z krakowskich placówek edukacyjnych? Jak te problemy są rozwiązywane? Co należałoby zrobić, aby poprawić sytuację młodych Ukraińców w Polsce, którzy, kończąc tu szkoły średnie, za chwilę staną się studentami polskich uczelni? To tylko kilka z wielu pytań, na które starają się odpowiedzieć, analizując wyniki swoich badań zrealizowanych na terenie jednej z placówek opiekuńczych (internatu szkolnego) w Krakowie.
