The paper argues that the contemporary model of musical education, as we know it today, has been shaped over a long process conditioned by the general reception of music as a form of art on the one hand, and on the other remaining in direct relation with various pedagogical concepts. The article, as an attempt to highlight the most influential trends affecting the model of musical education throughout the ages, demonstrates how the role of music in human life was interpreted in Ancient, Medieval and Modern periods. The author presents opinions on music and education as articulated by philosophers, pedagogues, psychologists, but also music theorists and composers. Finally, the paper critically discusses contemporary questions that arise in reflections on musical education pertaining to its essence but also its purposes, methodology, etc.

In Poland after the Second World War, the education of children became the central topic of interest of many educators who craved the Polish cultural and intellectual rebirth after war damages. During that time, the pedagogy of cultural and aesthetical upbringing (including music education) was particularly emphasized. The author presents the practical and theoretical research (conducted in Cracow) pertaining to early child development. They include: the establishment of the first network of musical pre-schools in Poland (the Cracow Curriculum and Methodical Concept) and numerous research publications. The author concludes the essay by offering new pedagogical directions in early education in the period of digitization in the 21st century.

Opis:
This article is of a descriptive, explanatory and methodical character. The authors’ interest in musical improvisation is taken from Edwin E. Gordon’s theory of music learning. The key to pupils making improvisational efforts is to develop preparatory audiation in the home and in kindergarten, and then to sequentially develop proper audiation at school by systematically experiencing tonal and rhythmic patterns based on different musical scales (tonalities), in the order of music learning. The authors give an example of developing the readiness for improvi-sation and the ability to improvise on the basis of the authors’ song.

The Institute of Arts Communication and Music of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) began its 36th year of education in September 2020. Our Institute qualifies classroom music teachers (among others) who will be able to ensure the possibility for their pupils to access the right of learning and performing music. A classroom music teacher should be familiar with the formal and informal education with-in the school and in out-of-school programs as well. This special task requires a high level of creativity and the ability to improvise on one hand and strictly professional knowledge on the other, not only in the field of music but in the organization and moderation of different groups of youngsters. Therefore, we want to instruct students in such teaching methods that foster their capacity for creativity. Besides, we also know that a music teacher must be creative amidst the problems and challenges of today’s world either from a socio-cultural or simply an educatio-nal point of view. For this reason, we always seek professional partners who can develop our training programs.

Opis:
Music education theorists agree that the success of music learning depends to a large extent on the quality of the educational impact at early stages of education. Early music education is therefore the stage where the identification of natural developmental potential and the development of appropriate musical competences and skills is particularly important (in terms of the professionalization of activities and their evaluation). This text raises important issues for educators concerning research on the disciplinarization of knowledge about early music education and the quality of socio-cultural practice in this field. It refers to E.E. Gordon's contemporary Theory of Learning Music and its main conceptual category - audiation. In this theoretical construction, the adopted definitions allow one to draw recommendations for general reflection on the relationship between theory and the practice of research on the autonomy of childhood experience of music and aesthetics. This reflection is inscribed in the reflection of contemporary pedagogy and strives to evaluate the basic qualities of music pedagogy (at least in the aspect of creating empirical-praxeological knowledge).

The author argues that music should not be mediated as a scientifically reduced object to amateurs and students, but as a message for the listener. Music is not a kind of strange “thing”, but a “virtually-you”, and looks for a dialogue with everybody who listens to it. Music claims: “I mean you! I’m talking about you! I want to talk to you”! Not only is music sound and structure, but a life lived as a reflection of sounds. It is the shape in which the dialogue with music finds its sustenance. The author examines one of the time-honored musical forms – the rondo – to demonstrate his view. From a historical perspective, the rondo is a round-song, which plays an important role in our daily lives. With its typical contrast between what is already known (chorus) and new elements (couplet), the rondo reflects our different experiences of time: time as a line (time of day) and time as a circle (circle of celebration).
