We investigated coercivity, total losses and complex permeability of sintered Fe-Co powder cores to detect magnetization processes performing in ac magnetic field. The Fe-Co solid solution alloy powders with 50:50 wt% ratio were prepared by 1, 15, and 20 h alloyed mixture of pure chemical elements in planetary ball mill. The resulting powder was subsequently sintered into a disk form. The compaction was performed at a pressure of 800 MPa for 5 min at temperatures of 400°C, 500°C and 600°C in vacuum oxidation protective atmosphere, with pressure of 5×10¯³ Pa. The best magnetic properties exhibit sample prepared from 1 h alloyed powder, compacted at 600°C.

Two sets of $Fe_{52-x}Co_{x}Pt_{28}B_{20}$ (x=0-26 at.%) and $Fe_{60-x}Co_{x}Pt_{25}B_{15}$ (x=0-40 at.%) alloys were prepared in the form of ribbons by the rapid quenching technique. Structure of the samples was characterized by Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. In the as-quenched alloys the amorphous phase coexisted with the fcc-(Fe,Co)Pt disordered solid solution. Differential scanning calorimetry measurements performed in the range 50-720 °C revealed one or two exothermal peaks. The magnetically hard ordered $L1_{0}$ (Fe,Co)Pt and magnetically soft $(Fe,Co)_{2}B$ nanocrystalline phases were formed due to thermal treatment of the alloys. The influence of Co content on the structure of the as-quenched and heated alloys was studied.

The theoretical Heisenberg model of an amorphous ferromagnet having two magnetic components in the Bethe-Peierls-Weiss approximation was applied to study the concentration dependence of the Curie temperature of the Fe-TM-M alloys (TM - transition metal, M - metalloid). The analysis of the experimental data in comparison with the model calculations was performed.

Opis:
The relations of core losses with the frequency of FeNiMo alloys were investigated. The core energy losses were determined by the measurements of dc and ac hysteresis loops as functions of frequency (1 Hz-50 Hz). The usual three-component concept of separation of core losses consisting of hysteresis, eddy current and anomalous losses was used to explain the influence of the powder particle size on core loss frequency dependences.

Microstructure by the Mössbauer spectroscopy and approach to magnetic saturation in the bulk amorphous $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Me_7Y_2B_{20}$ ($Me_7$=$Y_7$, $Y_6Ti_1$ or $Zr_{2.5}Hf_{2.5}W_2$) alloys are investigated. The bulk amorphous $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Zr_{2.5}Hf_{2.5}W_2Y_2B_{20}$ alloy exhibits the best thermal stability and remains amorphous up to 901 K. Moreover, the quasi-dislocations dipoles present in this amorphous alloy have the largest width equal to 6.7 nm. After annealing this alloy below the crystallization temperature the enhancement of both the average hyperfine field and its standard deviation is observed which points to the increase in the atom packing density due to the decay of quasi-dislocation dipoles. After the annealing at 901 K the small amount of the crystalline α-FeCo phase is presented in this alloy. The same crystalline phase appears in the bulk $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Y_8Ti_1B_{20}$ and $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Y_9B_{20}$ alloys after annealing at 750 K and 840 K, respectively.

Opis:
Post processing limits for iron-rich Fe-Cu-Si-B-P high-induction rapidly-quenched ribbons have been tested. 530°C/20 min is already too much, formed borides being the essential culprit of magnetic properties deterioration. Unlike standard Si-poor Fe-Nb-Cu-B-Si Finemets, these alloys annealed even in "technical" Ar below the upper limit do not create significant squeezing surfaces.

The paper presents an application of the fractional scaling procedure in the analysis of magnetic coercivity. The frequency and excitation dependences of measured coercivity can be expressed in a single curve using properly scaled coercivity and frequency values. The scaling parameters will be presented for three different electrical steels.

The study contains a description of magnetic properties of LaFeCoSi/FeCoV structure. The hybrid structure contains magnetocaloric LaFeCoSi core with high-induction ferromagnetic laminations. The magnetic field inside the magnetic structure is gained by the fringe field from FeCoV laminations. Results of modelling and experimental investigations of modified magnetic properties of LaFeCoSi/FeCoV structure were presented and discussed in the paper.

Cobalt, iron, nickel and iron carbide nanocrystallites, stabilized within carbon beads, were prepared by the three-step procedure including formation of metal acrylamide complex, followed by frontal polymerization and pyrolysis of the polymer at various temperatures. The beads containing the nanocrystallites exhibit domination of the ferromagnetic ordering. The analysis of calorimetric results allowed estimation of the efficiency of the hyperthermal effect, under the influence of an alternating magnetic field. The XTT tests show that the extracts prepared on the basis of the $Fe_3C$ containing beads are nontoxic, whereas these made of the composites containing Co and Ni exhibit negligible cytotoxicity for the test article/vehicle ratios 6.25 and 3.125 mg/ml.

Opis:
The commercial Fe-Si powder, produced by Högänes Corporation, represents promising soft magnetic material for technological applications. The powder consists of spherical particles with diameter up to 150 μm. Internal microstructure of the powder is formed by grains of diameter of about 30 μm. Each separate grain has a random orientation of the easy magnetization axis and is sufficiently large to split into several magnetic domains. A comparative study of the atomic force microscopy (AFM) topography and the corresponding magnetic force microscopy (MFM) images was employed in order to examine the correlation between the grain size, boundaries of grains and characterization of the magnetic domains, which gives us an important knowledge about possible behavior of particles under the influence of the external magnetic field and further utilization of the spherical Fe-Si particles in electrotechnical industry. The grain size and the crystallographic orientation of grains were analyzed by the electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD) technique.

Opis:
The relation between the density of states at the Fermi level and the sign of the indirect coupling in metallic systems is revisited in the framework of a simple model recently outlined by the authors. It is shown that high density of states tends to favor ferromagnetic structures. Some examples which support this idea are indicated. Finally we develop a phenomenological explanation for the antiferromagnetic → ferromagnetic transition induced by heating equiatomic FeRh. The transition is analysed in terms of the increase in the density of states produced by the giant volume expansion associated with the ferromagnetic phase.

Heavy-ion bombardment of thin ferromagnetic, polycrystalline films can induce substantial changes of their magnetic and microstructural properties. Since we first identified this effect in 50-150 nm thick Fe and Ni films irradiated with Xe-ions, we made a systematic search for the influence of various film and implantation parameters on the orientation and degree of the magnetic anisotropy and how these parameters correlate with the microstructure of the films. Several analyzing methods, such as Rutherford backscattering, magneto-optical Kerr effect, X-ray diffraction, magnetic force microscopy, $\text{}^{111}$In perturbed angular correlation, and conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy, were employed in the investigation.

Soft magnetic composite materials are composed of small ferromagnetic particles insulated from each other. It gives them some very good properties e.g. the magnetic isotropy and low total energy losses at medium to higher frequencies. On the other hand, their structure gives rise to the negative aspects as the inner demagnetizing fields, resulting in some specifics in magnetization processes leading to the worsening of soft magnetic properties, particularly the excess losses increase and a lowering of permeability. The frequency dependence of excess losses, the low and high induction loss components and the inner demagnetization factors of soft magnetic composites were investigated in order to reveal the proportions of the reversible and irreversible magnetization processes. Higher excess losses were observed in samples with smaller particles or higher non-ferromagnetic content (resin+pores), in which the inner demagnetizing fields were higher. It was explained by lower effective number of movable domain walls in those samples, thus less irreversible magnetization processes. This was confirmed by low and high induction loss analysis, where total losses were divided into low and high induction loss components and plotted vs. frequency.

We have investigated soft magnetic composite materials to better understand the influence of binder (resin) content on the DC magnetic properties and the complex permeability. Soft magnetic composite samples were composed from NiFe powder with phenol formaldehyde resin (ATM). Ferromagnetic magnetic powder for ring-shaped samples was obtained by milling of small pieces cut of NiFe sheets. The obtained powder was annealed to partially remove structural defects. The prepared powder was mixed with phenol-formaldehyde resin in different vol.%. The mixtures were pressed into the ring-shape samples. Complex permeability and DC magnetic properties (initial magnetization curves, anhysteretic curves and hysteresis loops) were measured. Higher inner demagnetizing fields in the resin containing samples were responsible for higher coercivity and hysteresis losses, but the permeability was stable up to much higher frequencies, compared to the sample without the resin.

The paper presents the scaling-based approach to analysis and modelling of power losses in Fe-based amorphous and nanocrystalline alloys. Production technology and properties of these alloys are briefly presented. For each sample, a family of measured loss curves are collapsed onto a single one using appropriate estimated scaling parameters. An interpretation of the fractional exponent is discussed. The scaling analysis is used in the modelling of power losses for the considered alloys. The results of power loss modelling and obtained errors are presented.
