Let X = (X,+) be an arbitrary topological group. The aim of the paper is to prove a regularity theorem for set-valued superquadratic functions, that is solutions of the inclusion 2F(s) + 2F(t) ⊂ F(s + t) + F(s − t), s, t ∈ X, with values in a topological vector space.

Opis:
In the article, a two-stagemethod of non-photorealistic rendering is presented. In the first stage, short segments of straight lines described by vectors and tangential to the object contours are generated. On this basis, a vector image is created with the use of vector space of increments. This image can be a vector representation of the object contours in the picture.

Opis:
The presented algorithms employ the Vector Space Model (VSM) and its enhancements such as TFIDF (Term Frequency Inverse Document Frequency) with Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). TFIDF were applied to emphasize the important features of documents and SVD was used to reduce the analysis space. Consequently, a series of experiments were conducted. They revealed important properties of the algorithms and their accuracy. The accuracy of the algorithms was estimated in terms of their ability to match the human classification of the subject. For unsupervised algorithms the entropy was used as a quality evaluation measure. The combination of VSM, TFIDF, and SVD came out to be the best performing unsupervised algorithm with entropy of 0.16.

The article discusses definitions of vector space for variance increment and standard deviation increment, as well as definition of scalar product for variance increment. This justifies using a vector calculus for variance increment and allows for emplyoing vector calculus methods for variance recalculated into variance increment. The paper also presents a practical example of combining images from sector-scan sonar based on comparison made between local increments of variance.

Opis:
We investigate the extent to which compositional vector space models can be used to account for scope ambiguity in quantified sentences (of the form Every man loves some woman). Such sentences containing two quantifiers introduce two readings, a direct scope reading and an inverse scope reading. This ambiguity has been treated in a vector space model using bialgebras by Hedges and Sadrzadeh (2016) and Sadrzadeh (2016), though without an explanation of the mechanism by which the ambiguity arises. We combine a polarised focussed sequent calculus for the non-associative Lambek calculus NL, as described in Moortgat and Moot (2011), with the vector-based approach to quantifier scope ambiguity. In particular, we establish a procedure for obtaining a vector space model for quantifier scope ambiguity in a derivational way.

We prove that deformations of tame Krull-Schmidt bimodule problems with trivial differential are again tame. Here we understand deformations via the structure constants of the projective realizations which may be considered as elements of a suitable variety. We also present some applications to the representation theory of vector space categories which are a special case of the above bimodule problems.

This paper discusses the further characteristic that exists in max-plus algebra by comparing the characteristics that exist in ordinary linear algebra. The steps taken are to examine what happens to linear algebra, then applied to max-plus algebra with respect to the existing operations. Characteristics of matrix operations and differences that occur in linear algebra and are met in max-plus algebra with max and plus operations. However, max-plus algebra does not satisfy the vector space characteristics.

Opis:
A subset of a vector space is called countably convex if it is a countable union of convex sets. Classification of countably convex subsets of topological vector spaces is addressed in this paper. An ordinal-valued rank function ϱ is introduced to measure the complexity of local nonconvexity points in subsets of topological vector spaces. Then ϱ is used to give a necessary and sufficient condition for countable convexity of closed sets. Theorem. Suppose that S is a closed subset of a Polish linear space. Then S is countably convex if and only if there exists $α < ω_1$ so that ϱ(x) < α for all x ∈ S. Classification of countably convex closed subsets of Polish linear spaces follows then easily. A similar classification (by a different rank function) was previously known for closed subset of $ℝ^2$ [3]. As an application of ϱ to Banach space geometry, it is proved that for every $α < ω_1$, the unit sphere of C(ωα) with the sup-norm has rank α. Furthermore, a countable compact metric space K is determined by the rank of the unit sphere of C(K) with the natural sup-norm: Theorem. If $K_1,K_1$ are countable compact metric spaces and $S_i$ is the unit sphere in $C(K_i)$ with the sup-norm, i = 1,2, then $ϱ(S_1) = ϱ(S_2)$ if and only if $K_1$ and $K_2$ are homeomorphic. Uncountably convex closed sets are also studied in dimension n > 2 and are seen to be drastically more complicated than uncountably convex closed subsets of $ℝ^2$

Opis:
Document clustering, which is also refered to as text clustering, is a technique of unsupervised document organisation. Text clustering is used to group documents into subsets that consist of texts that are similar to each orher. These subsets are called clusters. Document clustering algorithms are widely used in web searching engines to produce results relevant to a query. An example of practical use of those techniques are Yahoo! hierarchies of documents [1]. Another application of document clustering is browsing which is defined as searching session without well specific goal. The browsing techniques heavily relies on document clustering. In this article we examine the most important concepts related to document clustering. Besides the algorithms we present comprehensive discussion about representation of documents, calculation of similarity between documents and evaluation of clusters quality.
