    Artykuł dotyczy zagadnień związanych z oświetleniem naturalnym światłem słonecznym architektury zmieniającej się w czasie w małych zespołach mieszkaniowych. Ta ciągła zmienność architektury w miejskich przestrzeniach w ciągu dnia i roku stanowi o jej atrakcyjności i żywotności. Artykuł zawiera 10 projektów architektoniczno – urbanistycznych studentów II roku studiów wykonanych w roku akademickim 2016/2017 w Katedrze Kształtowania Środowiska Mieszkaniowego Wydziału Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej. Pojawiają się w nich tendencje do czytelnego układu kompozycyjnego zharmonizowanego z przyrodniczym otoczeniem oraz kształtowania środowiska mieszkaniowego w oparciu o dominującą rolę słońca. Przytoczone tendencje są charakterystyczne i zbieżne z europejskimi w okresie kończącej się drugiej dekady dwudziestego pierwszego wieku.
    The article discusses problems related to the illumination of architecture with natural sunlight, which changes over time, in small residential complexes. This constant mutability of architecture in urban spaces over the course of the day and throughout the year is a quality that determines its attractiveness and vitality. The paper contains a presentation of 10 architectural and urban designs developed by second-year students during the academic year 2016/2017 at the Chair of the Shaping of the Housing Environment of the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology. They feature tendencies involving the establishment of a clear compositional layout balanced with its natural surroundings and the shaping of the housing environment on the basis of the dominant role of the sun. The tendencies that have been described are characteristic of and in-line with European ones during the period of the end of the second decade of the twenty first century.

    An analysis of practical and scientific experiences in foreign countries on the barrier-free urban environment formation was made. It was identified that creating a barrier-free social spaces is possible only in context of a constant dialogue between the city administration, architects and disabled persons. The model of the route for people with limited mobility and the method of its` formation were developed on the basis of practical and scientific experience. Formation of this route is an important step towards humanization of the environment in relation to people with limited mobility.

    Opis:
    Due to the current shortage of traditional public space because of its privatization, commercialization, and securitization, there is an urgent need to reclaim areas affected by motorized traffic in the urbanized areas. On the other hand, the process of adapting them for new purposes should be carefully carried out, addressing several issues, among them environmental acoustics. This study is meant to contribute to our understanding of acoustic conditions of a general model of the bridge underspace. Therefore, the aim of the research was to examine the existing acoustic climate by measuring noise levels and comparing them with equivalent acceptable noise levels for the expected type of space development and Noise Rating curves. In this research, a pilot case study approach was used, as measurements were taken for a chosen space located under an elevated road that represents certain criteria set by the researchers. The results allowed us to: (1) verify the relationship between the geometry of the bridge underspace and the noise levels, (2) assess the initial acoustic conditions in terms of possibilities of acoustic adaptation of the examined space for outdoor public events, and (3) formulate hypotheses and preliminary assumptions for the planned further and broader studies of the issues raised in this article. The presented results and their analysis show that it is possible to bring the acoustic conditions in the studied space to the state required for public or cultural meeting spaces. In comparison with earlier findings, the research undertaken appears to be pioneering and the results can be used as valuable input for further research on this topic.

    This article has been devoted to matters associated with rest and recreation in contemporary architectural and urban layouts. Eco-friendly and expressive architectural form, which, in combination with the natural environment, creates an attractive recreational space, plays an essential role in the urban and non-urban spaces that have been presented. The composition of the diversely shaped architectural and urban complexes features references to either the urban or the natural landscape, one in which rest and recreation take centre stage, creating an optimal and highly desirable place for man.

    The article discusses the role of natural space elements in formation of attractiveness of the urban environment of small towns. Meaningful use of natural elements is necessary for development of a strategy of formation of the urban space attractiveness and can become an important source of it. Natural surrounding also impacts the urban development structure itself, characteristics of architectural objects and spacial visual communication of a small town and its suburbs. Using available natural characteristics, as well as purposeful introduction of elements of wildlife and inanimate nature into the urban space has an essential impact on the increase of the number of visitors and tourists in the town and dissemination of information about it.

    W opracowaniu zaprezentowano problematykę porządku architektonicznego i urbanistycznego w polskiej przestrzeni. Uwzględniono zarówno problematykę wielkich miast, ich przedmieść, jak i obszarów pozamiejskich, które często tracą swój tradycyjny, wiejski charakter. W szczególności zwrócono uwagę na historyczne uwarunkowania procesów urbanizacyjnych i ich obecne skutki. Określono zarówno diagnozę stanu, jak i propozycję budowy strategii jego poprawy. Zaprezentowano także możliwe do wykorzystania instrumentarium działania, w tym opisano instrumenty w Polsce jeszcze nie stosowane. Kontynuacją tych rozważań stało się zaprezentowanie konceptu rewitalizacji urbanistycznej jako kluczowego działania, mogącego w znaczący sposób przyczynić się do poprawy stanu polskiej przestrzeni. Podsumowaniem pracy stał się zestaw wniosków dotyczących działań służących poprawie stanu polskiej przestrzeni.
    This paper includes the general overview of the architectural and urban order issue in respect to Polish space. It focuses both on the problems of large cities as the peripheral and rural areas. Also the problems of rural areas losing their traditional character are discussed. Special attention was paid to the historical reasons staying behind the urbanization processes and their influence on the current situation. In this respect both the diagnosis of the current situation as well as the proposal for building the complex upgrade strategy were presented. Also the set of available implementation instruments were presented as a part of this proposal. Finally, the concept of urban regeneration was discussed. This concept can become the key element in the process of upgrading the condition of the Polish space. As a summary, a set of conclusions concerning the possible actions leading to desired change in the spatial order was presented.

    Mur, ściana, ogrodzenie – elementy będące pomiędzy wnętrzem i zewnętrzem, często postrzegane na planach jako liniowe elementy o sile ochrony, są jednak strefami zwieńczającymi i obramowującymi dzieło, jakim jest zaprojektowana przestrzeń. Odpowiednio zaprojektowane, o namacalnej miąższości, mogą rozwarstwiać się i stawać same w sobie przestrzenią wnęk, nisz, zagłębień, a nawet korytarzy i przejść. Solidne, grube i ciężkie lub też wręcz przeciwnie – lekkie, ażurowe, wypełnione powietrzem ujmują w ramy wnętrza budynków i miejską przestrzeń. Działają dwukierunkowo, choć przynależą do jednego obiektu. Mówią jednocześnie o wewnętrzności i zewnętrzności obiektu architektonicznego. Na planie i w wielkiej skali odbierane jako granice, bariery, po bliższym przyjrzeniu się i zrozumieniu – mogą stać się miękkimi obrzeżami stanowiącymi obszycie delikatnej materii budynku lub fragmentu miasta. Artykuł podejmuje temat krawędzi i skrajów w kontekście architektury budynków i miasta, zagadnień ram fragmentów miejskiej przestrzeni. Zarówno w odniesieniu do budynków, jak i rejonów miasta wydają się istotnymi elementami przestrzennymi, a często traktowane są niedostatecznie uważnie. W artykule rozpatrzono kilka przykładów miejskich ram, by zilustrować ich rolę w kreowaniu miejsc.
    A wall, an inner wall, a fence: elements that are between the inside and the outside, often seen on plans as linear elements with a protective force, are nevertheless zones that crown and frame the work, i.e. the designed space. Properly designed, with a tangible thickness, they can stratify and become on their own spaces of recesses, niches, hollows and even corridors or passages. Solid, thick and heavy or, on the contrary, light, openwork and filled with air, they frame the interiors of buildings and the urban space. They operate bi-directionally, although they belong to a single object. They speak of the interiority and exteriority of an architectural object at the same time. On a plan and in a large scale they are perceived as boundaries, barriers, but in closer perspective and deeper understanding they can become soft edges enclosing the delicate matter of a building or a part of a city. The article deals with the theme of edges and verges in the context of the architecture of buildings and the city, the issues of the framework of parts of urban space. In relation to both buildings and city districts, they appear to be important spatial elements, yet which are often treated with insufficient attention. The article considers several examples of urban frameworks to illustrate their role in creating places.

    Artykuł dotyczy problematyki związanej z projektowaniem architektoniczno-urbanistycznym przestrzeni społecznych w zespołach mieszkaniowych, szczególnie w niskiej intensywnej zabudowie mieszkaniowej na przykładzie projektów studenckich wykonanych w Katedrze Kształtowania Środowiska Mieszkaniowego Wydziału Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej w semestrze III roku akademickiego 2011/2012. Projektowanie dotyczyło zespołów mieszkaniowych zlokalizowanych w południowej części aglomeracji miasta Krakowa: Opatkowice Południe oraz Sidzina Południe. Rozwiązania funkcjonalno-przestrzenne zespołów mieszkaniowych w szczególny sposób wyeksponowały przyjazne człowiekowi pod względem skali, proporcji i zagospodarowania terenu przestrzenie społeczne jako miejsca dla kontaktów międzyludzkich i kontaktu z naturą. Artykuł przedstawia merytoryczną charakterystykę prezentowanych projektów, osiągnięte wyniki dydaktyczne Katedry Kształtowania Środowiska Mieszkaniowego oraz tendencje w nauczaniu zrównoważonego projektowania architektoniczno-urbanistycznego zespołów mieszkaniowych w zakresie dotyczącym kształtowania przestrzeni społecznych w miejscu zamieszkania.
    This article concerns problems related to the architectural and urban design of social spaces in housing complexes, especially in low intensive residential buildings, exemplified by designs prepared by the students of the Chair of Housing Environment at the Faculty of Architecture, Cracow University of Technology in Semester 3 in the academic year 2011/2012. The designing activities concerned residential complexes located in the southern part of the agglomeration of the City of Krakow: Opatkowice Południe and Sidzina Południe. In a particular manner, the functional and spatial solutions of these complexes exposed some man-friendly social spaces as places for contacting other people and communing with Nature considering their scale, proportions and land management. This article presents a profile of the students' designs pertaining to the subject matter, the educational results of the Chair of Housing Environment as well as the tendencies in teaching the sustainable architectural and urban design of residential complexes and the formation of social spaces in a place of residence.

    W artykule scharakteryzowano typy przestrzeni społecznych we współczesnych zespołach mieszkaniowych wielorodzinnych oraz ich wpływ na rozwój form życia mieszkańców. Analizie poddano cztery kompleksy zabudowy mieszkaniowej wielorodzinnej – dwa zespoły zabudowy oraz budynek plombowy w Kielcach oraz jeden kompleks w Łodzi.     The article describes the types of social spaces in modern multi-family residential complexes and their influence on the development of the forms of living of their residents. Four multi-family residential complexes were analyzed - two residential complexes and an infill building in Kielce, and one complex in Łódź. All presented complexes were erected within the last five years.

    Opis:
    The goal of the work is the presentation of a method of design whose effect is an architectural and urban concept that creatively utilises the results of public consultations. The analysis includes a case study with particular emphasis on trailing the train of thought used during the analysis and conceptual work. The work argues that a public consultations report can be a significant source of knowledge and a valuable inspiration for the designers of public spaces and the urban landscape. The concept that has been presented shows a model of an innovative approach to public participation, understood as involvement in design, as well as participation in the creation and transformation of one's own place.
    Celem pracy jest prezentacja metody projektowania, której efektem jest koncept architektoniczno- urbanistyczny twórczo wykorzystujący wyniki konsultacji społecznych. Analiza obejmuje studium przypadku ze szczególnym naciskiem na śledzenie ciągu myśli wykorzystywanego podczas analizy i prac koncepcyjnych. Praca dowodzi, że raport z konsultacji publicznych może być znaczącym źródłem wiedzy i cenną inspiracją dla projektantów przestrzeni publicznych i miejskiego krajobrazu. Przedstawiona koncepcja pokazuje model innowacyjnego podejścia do partycypacji społecznej, rozumianej nie jako uczestnictwo w projektowaniu, ale jako uczestnictwo w tworzeniu i przekształcaniu własnego miejsca.

    Opis:
    Artykuł dotyczy problemów związanych z kształtowaniem miejskich przestrzeni pieszych w małych zespołach mieszkaniowych. Autor przedstawia założenia ideowe związane z kształtowaniem zrównoważonych zespołów mieszkaniowych z punktu widzenia pieszego poruszającego się w przestrzeni miejskiej. "Pieszy w przestrzeni miasta" - taki temat otrzymali studenci Wydziału Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej w Katedrze Kształtowania Środowiska Mieszkaniowego. Celem było między innymi uzyskanie nowych interesujących wizji i optymalnych rozwiązań funkcjonalno-przestrzennych na miarę drugiej dekady dwudziestego pierwszego wieku. Artykuł prezentuje dziesięć najlepszych nagrodzonych studenckich projektów oraz dwa projekty dyplomowe inżynierskie, które potwierdzają tezę, że małe zrównoważone zespoły mieszkaniowe rozwiązane funkcjonalno-przestrzennie w oparciu o ruch pieszy wspomagany rowerowym oraz piesze wnętrza urbanistyczne są zespołami przyjaznymi środowisku mieszkaniowemu pod względem zdrowia mieszkańców oraz związków z naturą. W zakresie kształtowania przestrzeni pieszych pojawiły się tendencje zmierzające w kierunku zapewnienia dominacji ruchu pieszego w miejskich przestrzeniach oraz podniesienia rangi pieszych przestrzeni społecznych i publicznych w funkcjonowaniu oraz kompozycji miasta.
    The article is devoted to problems connected with shaping urban pedestrian spaces in small residential complexes. The author presents the ideological foundations connected with forming sustainable residential complexes from the perspective of a pedestrian moving around the urban space. "Pedestrian in the Urban Space" – that was a topic given to students of the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology, Chair of Housing Environment. The goal was – without limitations – to obtain new interesting visions and optimal functional and spatial solutions, appropriate for the second decade of the 21st century. This article presents ten best awarded students’ designs and two Engineer diploma designs, which confirm the thesis that small sustainable residential complexes solved in functional and spatial terms basing on the pedestrian traffic supported by the cycling traffic and pedestrian urban interiors are complexes which are friendly towards the housing environment in terms of the residents’ health and their bonds with nature. In the scope of shaping pedestrian spaces, tendencies have appeared aiming towards securing the prevalence of the pedestrian traffic in urban spaces and increasing the rank of social and public pedestrian spaces in the functioning and composition of a city.

    Opis:
    Artykuł dotyczy problematyki związanej ze zrównoważonym projektowaniem architektoniczno-urbanistycznym zespołów mieszkaniowych przyszłości – osiedla jutra. Autor stawia tezę, że w warunkach polskich będzie to stopniowe wprowadzanie, a w przyszłości na szeroką skalę zrównoważonych form zabudowy mieszkaniowej w strukturę urbanistyczną miast różnej wielkości, a także wsi ze szczególnym zwróceniem uwagi na aspekt społeczny, czyli m.in. zapewnienie dostępności do własnego mieszkania lub domu. Osiedle jutra będzie zatem zrównoważonym zespołem mieszkaniowym jutra. Taki temat otrzymali studenci Wydziału Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej w Katedrze Kształtowania Środowiska Mieszkaniowego, zakładając że ich oryginalne pomysły i kreatywność plastyczna oraz ideowa przyniosą ciekawe propozycje i przestrzenne rozwiązania. Artykuł prezentuje 15 studenckich projektów architektoniczno-urbanistycznych zrównoważonych zespołów mieszkaniowych jutra, w których zawarte są różnorodne i interesujące przestrzenne wizje oraz humanistyczne i społeczne idee kształtowania zrównoważonego środowiska mieszkaniowego niedalekiej przyszłości. Pokazują zdaniem autora właściwą drogę eksperymentów i poszukiwań odpowiednich rozwiązań funkcjonalno-przestrzennych zmierzających do poprawy jakości środowiska mieszkaniowego w Polsce.
    This article concerns problems related to the sustainable architectural and urban design of future residential complexes – tomorrow’s estate. The author poses a thesis that, under Polish conditions, it will be the gradual introduction of sustainable housing forms into the urban structure of variously sized towns and cities as well as villages with special attention to the social aspect, i.e. guaranteed access to one’s own flat or house; they will be applied on a broad scale in the future. Thus, tomorrow’s estate will be tomorrow’s sustainable residential complex. Such a theme was assigned to the students of the Chair of Housing Environment, Faculty of Architecture, Cracow University of Technology. We assumed that their original ideas as well as artistic and ideological creativity would bring some interesting propositions and spatial solutions. This article presents fifteen students’ architectural and urban designs of tomorrow’s sustainable residential complexes which include diverse, curious spatial visions as well as humanistic and social ideas of shaping a sustainable housing environment for the immediate future. In the author’s opinion, they lay out the right course of experiments and searches for proper functional and spatial solutions which aim at improving the quality of the housing environment in Poland.

    Opis:
    An article discusses a necessity of combination of historical and contemporary architectural concepts in the process of selection of strategy for sustainable urban development. Working out a dynamic balance between this two concepts provides sustainability of area development, which is required for incorporation of new architectural objects in existing structure of a city. At that, usage of historical architectural concepts will allow to preserve cultural identity of developed city, while usage of modern architects’ concepts would promote quick reaction on continuously changing social, technical and ecological conditions of formation. An expressed hypothesis in the article regarding a necessity of such dynamic balance is illustrated with interaction of historical concept of ensemble development of urban space with modern architects’ concepts based on combination of elements of live and inanimate nature. Interaction of these concepts occurs after assessment of an ensemble potential state or potential of ensemble self-development of a particular urban space. This helps to determine probable directions of urban space development in line with already incorporated genetic program (peculiarities) of formation of an examined territory. Considering determined ensemble potential the following options of usage of modern architectural concepts which are based on combination of live and inanimate nature elements are suggested: for regeneration of at one time destroyed or degrading districts by means of inclusion of new unique buildings and complexes; for increase of importance of reorganized urban spaces at incorporation of architectural and city developments objects as well as engineering infrastructure objects; for enrichment of city environment by employing natural structures and materials, imitations of relief, landscape, natural texture in developed objects and complexes. Foregoing the above, combination of historical and modern concepts discussed in the article would provide maintenance of urban spaces in the state of sustainable development.
