Głównym problemem referatu jest skuteczność/nieskuteczność systemu aksjologicznego zrównoważonego rozwoju jako podstawy programu działań podejmowanych w skali społeczno-politycznej oraz indywidualnej. W referacie zostało przyjęte założenie na temat niskiej skuteczności etyki współczesnej w zakresie motywacji do oczekiwanego działania i kształtowania pożądanych postaw. Dlatego problem został omówiony z perspektywy etyki Alaina Badiou, która jest próbą przezwyciężenia słabości etyki współczesnej głównego nurtu na drodze powrotu do platońskiej koncepcji prawdy ontologicznej.
The main problem of this paper is effectiveness/ineffectiveness of sustainable development axiological system as a base of action programme undertaken across sociopolitical and individual scope. In this paper low effectiveness of contemporary ethics in the scope of motivation to expected action and shaping desired attitude assumed. Hence problem was elaborated from ethics perpective of Alain Badiou which is an attempt to manage and overcome contemporary ethics weakness of the mainstream towards a return to Platonic conception of ontological truth.

In this article the author argues that engagement in scientific research and didactics on university level requires high ethical standards. Truth as a basic value implies a special quality of the scientific research and interpersonal attitudes. The author focuses on selected issues grouped into few sets of problems: 1) criteria of decision making in choosing topics for the investigations, 2) publication strategies, 3) promoting young scientists, 4) interpersonal relationships influencing quality of research – team problems, critique, cooperation, and competition, 5) respecting authorship of ideas and participation in the researches, 6) management of scientific institutions – priorities, challenges, and Machiavellian strategies, 7) making profits on scientific activity and applications, 8) marketing strategies promoting and disturbing scientific activity, 9) ideological biases and socio-political engagement of the scholars representing the humanities and social sciences. The main thesis of the article is that developing healthy interpersonal relationships contributes to one’s respect for the truth as a crucial value of scientific activity.

Does a medical practitioner have a moral obligation to mislead a patient about hiscondition, if he has subjective certainty, that revealing the truth to the patient mayharm him even more? Or, perhaps the practioner is always bound to fully inform thepatient about true state of his health? Idea that pertains to those questions is, in itsnature, achronic. It has accompanied medicine since its birth and has also becomean issue pondered by philosophers. Over the course of centuries, various ethicalfundaments have been created by social and historical contexts. Their purpose wasto evaluate the so called ‘white lie’. The intention of this article is to classify and describemain ethical concepts, within which a solution to this issue has been sought for.

W pierwszej z nich została zaprezentowana etyka prawdy Tadeusza Stycznia, a w części drugiej — etyka prawd Alaina Badiou. W części trzeciej zostało przedstawione rozumienie prawdy jako podstawy etyki, co pozwoliło ukazać koncepcje prawdy tkwiące u podstaw etyk Stycznia i Badiou i je porównać.
The aim of this article is to present the problem of truth in ethics in the light of the ethical theories of two philosophers: Polish philosopher Tadeusz Styczeń and French philosopher Alain Badiou. The article is divided into three parts. The first part and the second part, introductions are to the ethics of truth by Tadeusz Styczeń and the ethics of truths by Alain Badiou. The third part is a presentation of the notion of truth as a basis of ethics in order to reveal the concepts of truth lying at the base of these thinkers’ ethics’ and to compare them.

The main aim of the paper is the analysis and critique of axiological relativism, typical of contemporary Western culture. Its supporters deny the objective status of moral norms and values. Axiological relativism leads to moral indifference based on blurring the difference between good and evil, and negating the belief that human action may be morally better or worse. I present the anti‑relativistic position of St. John Paul II, particularly in relation to the truth, understood as a cognitive and moral value. According to the Pope, a civilization based on the belief of the relative nature of good and evil leads to widespread hypocrisy and is destined to a slow decline.

Przedmiot badań stanowią: analiza taktyk, jakimi posłużono się w mediach (głównie społecznościowych), w kontekście mechanizmów przepływu informacji w sieci w dobie deficytu percepcji i uwagi; opisanie ról uczestników sytuacji kryzysowej; ocena całości strategii przyjętej przez autora i dystrybutora filmu Botoks; opis i analiza reakcji profesjonalnego dziennikarza i jednego z portali internetowych oraz skutki podjętych działań. Autorzy starają się także zwrócić uwagę na te punkty, w których doszło do naruszenia standardów na linii public relations – media relations i wskazać na rolę mediów związaną z misją profesjonalnego dziennikarstwa.
The analysis of the tactics employed in the media (mainly social media) in the context of mechanisms of information flow on the Internet at the time when attention and perception are lacking, description of the roles of the parties participating in the crisis and the evaluation of the overall strategy adopted by the author and distributor of the movie titled Botox, as well as the description and analysis of the reaction displayed by a professional journalist and one of the Internet websites, along with the results of the actions taken – all of the above constitute the subject matter of this study. The authors is trying to draw attention to the points instances of a breach of certain standards for the relationship between public relations and the media, and to indicate the role of the media as regards the mission of professional journalism.

L’etica nei procedimenti giudiziari è una tematica di rilevante interesse che da sempre ha acceso il dibattito a livello culturale in generale e a livello etico – giuridico in particolare. Etica e diritto non sono su due piani differenti, bensì sono interconnessi. I procedimenti giudiziari, e gli operatori di diritto in esso coinvolti, non possono prescindere da questa interconnessione e devono essere imparziali, altrimenti ledono la dignità della persona e i suoi diritti fondamentali, come ad esempio il diritto alla verità, alla lealtà, alla giustizia, ad una convivenza democratica e civile per un’ordinata vita sociale e di relazione.
Ethics in judicial proceedings is a topic of considerable interest that has always sparked debate at the cultural level in general and at the ethical – legal level in particular. Ethics and law are not on different levels, but are interconnected. Judicial proceedings and all those involved in law enforcement cannot be separated from this interconnection and must be impartial, otherwise they undermine the dignity of a legal person and his fundamental rights, such as the right to truth, loyalty, justice, and a democratic and civil cohabitation for an orderly social life.

The article begins by recalling the most important understandings associated with the term prudence in the history of philosophy.Then it introduces the Aristotelian concept of prudence linked to practical truth—prudence seen in contrast to wisdom and knowledge of manufacturing. The article discusses various forms of rational knowledge associated with the right will, and proves the need of linking prudence to all the other ethical virtues based on moral principles. It emphasizes the problem of how to relate general principles to specific actions which involve particular goods. For resolving this problem, the article refers to Aristotle who sees the solution in political ethics which has a significant impact on individual behavior; consequently, good law and proper education are considered to be necessary conditions which allow to form the moral judgment skills for providing a morally good life. The article concludes with the claim that the proper field to capture the specificity of prudence includes the theory of human action and that of human morality.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie, iż najważniejszą właściwością informacji przekazywanej przez dziennikarza jest prawda. Jednym z podstawowych praw człowieka jest bowiem prawo do prawdziwej informacji, gdyż wyłącznie na prawdzie można budować dobro wspólne. Zadaniem dziennikarza jest więc troska o prawdziwość informacji na każdym etapie, zarówno podczas gromadzenia, przekazywania, jak i korzystania z odpowiednich środków technicznych.
The purpose of this article is to show that the most important feature of information provided by a journalist is truth. One of the basic human rights is the right to true information, because the common good can be built only on the truth. The journalist’s task is to take care of the truthfulness of information at every stage, both during the collection, transmission and use of appropriate technical means.

The text is a reflection on modern universities based on the thought of Thomas Aquinas, Nicolai Hartmann, Karl Jaspers and Michał Heller. The main claim is that the purpose of scientific research is truth, which, however, can never be achieved in an absolute way due to cognitive limitations. The ethical aspect of practicing science is also underlined. Some aspects of the institutional functioning of universities are also discussed, as well as the more important characteristics that should characterise the scholar. The posture of openness of mind and responsibility for science and the academic community is postulated. The first part of the text addresses the issue of the identity of the university and the research community. Attention was also paid to the most important characteristics of the scientist: reason and morality, which should take precedence over will and institutionalisation. The second part of the text raises the problem of truth and the possibility of its achieving. The arguments point to the impossibility of obtaining unambiguously objective and absolute knowledge. However, this does not mean scep-ticism, because scientific progress allows a better understanding of reality and leads to a reduction in the area of irrationality. In the third part of the text, ‘commandments of the man of Academy’, are given, which boil down to responsibility, conscientiousness, cooperation and openness to criticism in their principles. At the end, the author puts the thesis, that university should be a place to build a community of people devoted to truth and science. All activities within it should be an implementation of an idea of the university, reaching back to the medieval roots of the Academy.

The article refers to the issue of journalism education at university, in terms of the philosophical categories of meaning and truth. The author analyses the curricula of selected Polish higher education institutions in the majors of journalism and social communication, and refers to studies on education in journalism ethics in Poland conducted in 2015–2016. In his academic reflection, he indicates the inadequacy of university education for the proper preparation of journalists for fulfilling their profession when faced with the challenges of the modern era.
Tekst artykułu odnosi się do zagadnienia uniwersyteckiej formacji dziennikarskiej w kontekście filozoficznych kategorii sensu i prawdy. Autor analizuje programy wybranych polskich ośrodków akademickich na kierunku dziennikarstwo i komunikacja społeczna oraz odwołuje się do badań dotyczących kształcenia w zakresie etyki dziennikarskiej w Polsce, przeprowadzonych w latach 2015–2016. W refleksji naukowej wskazuje niewystarczalność formacji akademickiej we właściwym przygotowaniu dziennikarzy do wykonywania profesji zawodowej wobec wyzwań epoki współczesnej.

There is an ongoing investigation by scholars of ethics and economics into whether human decision making and the resultant acts should be guided by rules and procedures or by judgment and discretion. Although each of these modes offers advantages and disadvantages to decision makers, they are by no means neutral in their effect on professional development. The paper presents an in-depth view of discretionary decisions using an Aristotelian-Thomistic framework. This is the first of the series of papers which focus on the application of realistic philosophical principles to ethical professional behaviour and decision making in daily practice. Results indicate that classical philosophical theories which use virtues and truth as indispensable components still may give rise to desirable and moral conduct among individuals who apply them.

Powołując się na podstawie literatury przedmiotu na tradycje etosowe, etyki zawodowej, filozofii moralnej próbuje ustalić, czy instancja sumienia jako forma samooceny i samokontroli w podejmowaniu decyzji i wartościowaniu działań odgrywa istotną rolę jako składnik kompetencji zawodowej i moralnej naukowca. Konfrontuje teoretyczne ustalenia z treścią trzech dokumentów regulujących zasady etyki pracownika naukowego, które w polskiej nauce pojawiły się w ciągu ostatniego ćwierćwiecza. Artykuł odnotowuje zjawisko odchodzenia od tradycji kierowania się własnym niepodzielnym i niezależnym sumieniem człowieka, który pełni role zawodowe. Zjawisko „znikającego sumienia” w praktyce naukowej ujmuje jako wyraz rezygnacji z niezależności przedstawicieli nauki na rzecz poddania się mechanizmom pozanaukowym.
The author analyzes the topicality and sense of the term ’scientific conscience’ in the context of the ethos of scientists. Based on the literature, the author refers to the traditions of ethos, professional ethics and moral philosophy in order to establish whether conscience as a form of self-assessment and self-control in decision making and in valuation of actions plays an important role as a part of scientists’ professional and moral conscience. The theoretical findings are confronted with the content of three documents regulating the ethics framework for scientists, which have appeared in the Polish science within the last twenty-five years. The article notices the phenomenon of departure from the tradition of being driven by one’s own undivided and independent conscience in playing professional roles. The phenomenon of ’vanishing conscience’ in scientific practice is understood by the author as a sign of scientists’ resignation from their independence in favour of giving in to extra-scientific mechanisms.
