Following the events related to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, increasing air traffic also increases turnaround agents' activity at airports. Turnaround operations are among the critical activities performed at airports, which must be characterized by punctuality and accuracy of the elementary handling operations. Lack of punctuality in ground handling causes delays in air traffic. On the other hand, a lack of accuracy can also cause disruptions that can turn into aviation incidents. Achieving punctuality and accuracy in aircraft handling is possible by minimizing the resulting disruptions during such handling. The safety management system (SMS) assumes activities to reduce the causes of potential incidents. In the turnaround process, the human factor, the technical aspect, and compliance with existing procedures are significant. The authors have extensively analyzed the disruptions arising during ground handling, learning its causes and effects, which will help avoid adverse events. Occurring disruptions can cause delays in the execution of flight operations but can also cause aviation incidents. Therefore, the authors focused on ground-handling disruptions that can cause adverse aviation incidents. The article presents the interference analysis results as an Ishikawa diagram. Using the FRAM method, an analysis of possible disruptions during the baggage handling process was carried out.

Polycentric metropolitan area Trojmiasto in the north of Poland, by the Gdansk Bay is one of the most important urban centres for the Polish economy. The level of development of the collective public transport system is one of crucial factors for the functioning of such a vast urban area. Public services, in the form of local government departments or budget units are responsible for the organisation of transport services within the metropolis. They are coordinated by the metropolitan public transport union, MZKZG. Either municipal or private carriers are responsible for the realisation of transport services. The metropolitan transport market is dominated by public services or private businesses, while the "third sector" subjects have a relatively small participation in the market shaping process, mostly due to their lack of competiveness, connected with the non-profit activity formula. The objective function of those subjects is based on the desire to fulfil the needs of a limited social group, which are not satisfied through the default market mechanism. Hence, the NGOs organise special transport services, which do not fit within the objectives of traditional public services. Therefore, the objective function of the NGOs and the objective function of the subjects which create transport policy are convergent, however the scale of work of NGOs is far smaller, because of the fact that various constraints exists, not all of which are, however, active. The methodology of operational research allows to analyse the problem of the NGO activity in the process of shaping the Trojmiasto metropolitan transport market which is formulated in this way. Operational research on the constraints of NGO activity lead to a conclusion that the furthest constraint is the lack of periodic financing sources. The third sector organisations also point out heavy competition between them and barriers against access to the transport services feasibility studies. Therefore, the adaptation of the role of a transport policy stakeholder seems a necessary predictive value for the non-government organisations.

Multimodal transport implementation allows connecting the point of origin and the point of destination in an optimal way. The goal of multimodal transport is to maximize the efficiency in connecting the economic elements of various traffic branches, i.e. their operations related to transport and communications, thus positively reducing the inventories of raw materials, semi-products and end products with the aim of increasing the balance in the overall economic system of a country. The development of multimodal transport and good organization of the traffic system make it possible to increase the existing and to generate new freight flows that would result in positive effects on the import-export balance.

The manuscript is focused on the design of methodical procedure to locate container reloading station of national importance in the examined country. Slovakia represents the investigated country where ten container reloading stations , specialized above all in transshipment of loading units, are currently in operation. The introductory parts of the manuscript outline the most important concepts associated with the very term of intermodal transport, container reloading stations in the given country as well as a brief literature review in a given context. The following parts discuss the specification of relevant data and methods for this study as well as a description of the general procedure of multi-criteria evaluation of alternatives; namely consisting of, identifying a set of alternatives (Slovak regions), establishing a set of criteria and determining the weights of such criteria. The last part of the manuscript addresses forming a criteria matrix and subsequent calculations in order to search for the most suitable region when applying particular techniques of Operations Research. Specifically, the weights of criteria being determined based on the Saaty quantitative pairwise comparison method, and the final procedure in the context of selecting the most suitable alternative is suggested by using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (also called as the TOPSIS method).

Nowadays, the Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF) have several multinational tasks all over the world. These are changing constantly due to the expansion of the different missions. In the beginning, HDF personnal were participating individually (officers, NCOs), and later by sub-level power in NATO and EU operations. The Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) mission in Afghanistan was the most successful operation of the HDF, which was terminated in March 2013. Hungarian soldiers gained considerable experience in Iraq too, where they served in a Transport Battalion under Polish command (Multinational Division). Based on these facts, this article presents some Hungarian aspects of multinational operations.

This study examined the effectiveness of para-transit transport activities by identifying the socioeconomic characteristics of both the passengers and drivers of public transport and the factors confronting their operation. It utilised primary and secondary data. A purposive sampling technique was employed which entailed the identification of all the motor parks, the selection of buses, minibuses and cars at the motor parks, major bus stops and conducting a survey using a structured questionnaire cum interview. Questionnaires were administered to 354 respondents to obtain information about their socioeconomic, trip characteristics and the unconventional public transport operations, of which a total of 312 questionnaires were duly completed and returned. Data collected were analysed using simple descriptive techniques and correlation analysis. The results showed that the majority of the passengers (61.4%) were within the 21 – 30 years age bracket while 43.7% of the drivers were within the 31-40 years age bracket, the patrons and the operators of the public transport are predominantly low-income earners as large proportion of the passengers (42.1%) earned below ₦10,000 per month while 46.9% of the drivers earned between ₦10,001 and ₦20,000 per month. The results of the correlation analysis indicated both the drivers’ and passengers’ perspectives, factors such as public transport conditions, road quality and drainage system are highly correlated between their paired variables. Hence, effort should be made by the government and public transport operators to improve the transport infrastructural facilities in the study area.

The article concerns key assumptions of the transportation hubs network concept for the EU Common Security and Defence Policy. The conceptual works have been initiated by the European Defence Agency, and in March 2017 an agreement was signed on that issue. This article outlines the potential benefits and risks of the project implementation.

W artykule omówiono zagadnienia związane z istotą jakości zarządzania w transporcie publicznym oraz w syntetycznym ujęciu przedstawiono czynniki mające wpływ na koszty jakości, ze szczególnym zwróceniem uwagi na koszty komfortu podróży. Zakres ujętych w artykule rozważań związany jest z tezą, że w Polsce w niedostatecznym stopniu uwzględnia się jakość w zarządzaniu publicznym transportem zbiorowym, co wynika ze zbyt niskiego inwestowania w tabor po okresie transformacji ustrojowej (od początków lat 90. ubiegłego stulecia). W artykule omówiono również pojęcie kosztów jakości oraz cel ich ewidencjonowania. Ponadto przedstawiono rozważania na temat jakości produktu, jakim są usługi publicznego transportu zbiorowego - ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem przewozów autobusami.
In the article issues concerning nature of quality management in the public transport were discussed and in the synthetic way factors influencing quality costs, with a special focus on travel comfort costs were described. The scope of deliberations included in the article is associated with the thesis, that in Poland a quality is insufficiently implemented in management of public transport resulting from too low Investing in means of transporting after the period of political transformation (since the early 1990s of the last century). In the article the concept of quality costs and the aim of their inventorying were also discussed. Moreover dissertations regarding product quality, which include public transport services - with a particular consideration of public bus transport services were presented.

Since there is a tendency that new build vessels are increasing in size, dredging has become an important part of the development and maintenance strategy for ports serving the largest ships. The increase in the technical depth of vessels drives additional development of the entire port. However, the effectiveness of this type of project depends heavily on unrestricted traffic and uninterrupted operation of the terminal. This paper presents a modelling of various type of dredging activities in ports based on an existing work schedule. A tool used to queue work activities with a vacation was used in this effort. The methodology of creating a dredging time schedule in the port area depended mainly on disentangling interference caused by the ship traffic and dredgers trying to work at the same time.

Real-time transit management systems that can inform the public about transportation options and availability are gradually being deployed in many parts of the world. While many larger cities have been able to provide this information on web sites or through automated telephone systems for several years, smaller municipalities often lack the resources to develop their own transit management systems. Addressing this issue as a joint effort, transportation agencies in the multi-state North American CARS Program have cooperatively developed a real-time, multi-modal transit tracking and incident reporting system called Modes. Modes builds on the CARS road condition reporting system developed by 17 transportation agencies in North America. Modes extends the CARS software to include ferry, bus, and passenger rail services to the basic highway network information it manages. Modes was initially created to track the Alaska Marine Highway System's extensive ferry system and has been successfully applied to New England's popular Acadia National Park bus tracking system, three bus systems in Maine, 13 bus systems in Idaho (in progress), three bus systems and a light rail line in the Sacramento, California area (in progress), as well as the Amtrak Downeaster and Capitol Corridor rail lines.

This paper includes a definition of the indicator of the effectiveness of spatial trade on the macro scale. The degree of efficiency of a given sector, for example transportation, is determined by the relation of production and its cost. This relationship can be evaluated by various models of spatial economies. One of the possible way is considered in this study.

Opis:
Open-loop sulphur scrubbers must be switched off, and the fuel must be changed to low-sulphur fuel before entering German inland waters. Immediately after the scrubbers are turned off, warm exhaust gases cause the residue left in the scrubber to vaporise, leading to the increased sulphur content of the exhaust gas. The momentary increase in sulphur emissions immediately after the open-loop scrubbers are turned off has received little attention in research. This paper presents the onboard measurement results of exhaust gases and examines the effects of sulphur compounds released into the air. In this case, the observed sulphur emission peak is problematic due to the geographical location. The ship sails to the river port, passing the coastal town of Travemünde, where the exhaust gases are released. Due to this, the emissions are more harmful when compared to emissions generated in the open seas.

Freight market passenger cars in Poland is highly competitive. A large number of competitors makes it a competitive advantage to determine even small differences in prices of transport services offered. In this article author's goal is to develop methods to optimize the cost of transport operations in the selected company. Objective was achieved through the analysis of the logistics chain (transport) in the company's proposal Adampol SA and optimizing of loading and unloading operations, leading to lower their costs.
