W artykule przedstawiono niektóre aspekty wojskowych zastosowań nadwozi kontenerowych i transportu kontenerowego. Przeanalizowano możliwości i przykładowe konstrukcje m.in. stanowiska dowodzenia, mobilne węzły logistyczne i różnego rodzaju wojskowe aplikacje techniczne. Przedstawiono klasyfikację kontenerów według standardów NATO, oraz niektóre aspekty ściśle związanej z kontenerami paletyzacji. Analizowane zagadnienie zilustrowano na wykresach i rysunkach.
This article presents some aspects of military applications for container bodies and container transport. The authors have analyzed the possibilities and the examples of constructions, e.g. command posts, mobile logistic nodes and various army technical applications. The article also presents the classification of containers according to the NATO standards and some aspects strictly connected with palletization. The article is accompanied by tables and figures being a graphic illustration of the analyzed problems.

Opis:
The article presents a method for evaluating the efficiency of port container terminals. The research was conducted for nine European terminals which use different handling technologies. The terminals have been divided due to the level of automation of transport processes. In the efficiency research DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) method is applied, that was previously used in studies of the relative productivity in the industry. This method allows you to multicriteria process analysis based on the properly selected production system model processing input parameters on output. Conclusions from analysis can be a ground for making a decision on organizational or investment issues.
Artykuł prezentuje metodę oceny efektywności portowych terminali kontenerowych. Badania przeprowadzono dla dziewięciu terminali europejskich, które stosują odmienne technologie przeładunkowo-składowe. Terminale zostały podzielone ze względu na poziom automatyzacji procesów transportowych. W badaniu efektywności zastosowano metodę DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis), wykorzystywaną wcześniej do w badaniach produktywności względnej w przemyśle. Metoda ta pozwala na wielokryterialną analizę procesu w oparciu o właściwie dobrany model przetwarzający parametry wejściowe na wyjściowe. Wnioski z analizy mogą być podstawą do podjęcia decyzji o charakterze organizacyjnym lub inwestycyjnym.

Portowe terminale kontenerowe są zarządzane z użyciem kompleksowych rozwiązań informatycznych jakimi są systemy operacyjne terminalu TOS (ang. Terminal Operating System). Rozwój technologii informatycznych oraz zwiększająca się wydajność portowych terminali kontenerowych wymusza ciągłe doskonalenie funkcjonalności TOS. System TOS staje się obecnie podstawowym narzędziem optymalizacji procesów przeładunkowych. Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie wybranych aspektów optymalizacji pracy terminalu przy użyciu TOS. W pracy scharakteryzowano najważniejsze procesy obsługi statków kontenerowych. Przedstawiono wspomagający ten proces system operacyjny. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań konkretnego procesu w postaci analizy wydajności, czasu obsługi oraz zdarzeń wpływających na wydłużenie w/w procesu. Wyniki badań oraz przedstawiona analiza pozwoliły na wyciągnięcie wniosków o charakterze ogólnym i szczegółowym.
Seaport container terminals are managed with the use of contemporary information technology IT solutions such as terminal operating systems (TOS). The development of IT systems and continuous demand for efficiency of container terminals forces the continuous improvement of the TOS functionality. TOS systems are now becoming the primary tool for terminal processes optimization. The purpose of this paper is to present certain aspects of terminal optimization using TOS. Therefore, the key handling processes and the operating system assisting them are described. The paper gives the results of performance analysis of chosen processes, including: terminal throughput, events affecting the lengthening of the handling process, number of moves made by gantries. The analysis presented enabled to draw conclusions of a general and narrowing nature.

The article discussed the issue of container depot terminals as a kind of container terminal. The function rules and benefits for carriers and owners of containers were stated as a result of extensive network of inland depot terminals. The impact of depot terminals to general and special transport costs was discussed as a result of using intermodal transport units.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie przepływu komunikatów w procesie transportu na lądowym terminalu kontenerowym. Przedstawiono charakterystykę i podział terminali lądowych, oraz wyodrębniono podmioty współpracujące z terminalem w procesie przewozu intermodalnej jednostki transportowej. Omówiono usługi zachodzące w procesie transportu, które dotyczą funkcjonowania terminala kontenerowego i na podstawie wybranych usług scharakteryzowano przepływy komunikatów pomiędzy interesariuszami, zarówno pod względem treści jak i formy przekazu komunikatu.
The article presents the issue of message exchange in the transport process at the inland container terminal. The characteristics and division of inland terminals were presented and the cooperating entities were identified. The services involved in the transport process that deal with the operation of the container terminal are discussed. Basing of the selected services, the flow of messages between stakeholders has been characterized, both in terms of the content and the form of communication.

The society’s main trend for globalisation requires the restructuring of the global transport system as a whole. The ‘Dnieper region’ is no exception, as it needs changes in its practice of organising and managing its process of cargo delivery in accordance with the current trends. This paper considered the main solution directions of this problem in the aspect of ‘container on barge system’ transportation in accordance with the potential of the region. Based on international experience, the competitiveness of the container on barge system can be ensured by applying the different forms of cooperation between the business-players. In the case of horizontal cooperation, it’s raising the problem of distribution of structural elements of the container on barge system during the container-flows adoption. So, the paper proposed the mathematical decision to maximise the use of the linear ship's characteristics by the barge’s loading capacity and by the tug’s engine power.

For logistic chains that have a maritime component, the ports transition involves a set of specific operations inside maritime container terminals. This can be cargo handling operations from the terrestrial vehicle in the storage area of ports, from port storage area in the maritime ships, as well as storage operations in the port area and other container terminal activities. Taking into consideration the multi-flow interactions and the non-uniform arrival of vessels and in-land vehicles, discrete event simulation stands as a feasible technique for investigating berthing capacity during the initial planning stage of the terminal or for operative planning of logistic processes at the terminal. If the storage area is analysed as a queuing system, the quality serving attributes could be evaluate. When different distributions for arrival flows of the containers in the maritime container terminal are taken into consideration, the quality serving attributes are difficult to estimate. In our paper, a discrete simulation model is developed in ARENA software for case of a maritime container terminal. The estimation of the general measures of performance for the container port terminals through simulation could provide data for the implementation in the management plans by port administrations.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja trendów oraz funkcjonowania morsko-lądowego kontenerowego łańcucha dostaw. Celem artykułu jest przegląd narzędzi zwiększających efektywność transportu kontenerowego oraz przedstawienie korzyści wynikających z integracji organizacyjnej przedsiębiorstw związanych z danym transportem jak również potencjalne korzyści wynikające z integracji systemów informatycznych przedsiębiorstw. Przedstawiono sposoby organizacji łańcucha dostaw, organizacji wewnętrznej przedsiębiorstw zajmujących się trans-portem kontenerowym oraz niektóre rozwiązania usprawniające operacje konieczne do obsługi kontenera. Zaprezentowano również wybrane problemy w transporcie kontenerowym oraz ich rozwiązania, które są obecnie stosowane.
The paper presents the trends and the functioning of sea-land container shipping. It reviews the tools that increase the efficiency of container transport and the benefits of enterprise- wide integration of transport-related businesses as well as the potential benefits of integrating enterprise information systems. The ways of organization of the supply chain, the internal organization of container transport companies and some solutions to improve the operations necessary to handle the container were presented as well as selected problems in container transport and their solutions, which are currently applied.

The paper presents a method for reading reporting marks on sea containers utilizing a digital image of the container door. It is assumed that the input data is the image in RGB colour space and as output data are accounted the characters of the container markings. The method was implemented and tested using a set of container images. The algorithm can be incorporated in a system for container traffic monitoring in a logistic centre.
W artykule przedstawiono metodę rozpoznawania znaków tablicy rejestracyjnej na kontenerach morskich na obrazie cyfrowym. Przyjęto założenie, że danymi wejściowymi, analizowanymi przez algorytm, będą kolorowe obrazy drzwi kontenera, na których znajdują się znaki identyfikacyjne kontenera. Algorytm może stanowić część systemu monitorowania i zarządzania w portach rozładunkowych lub centrach logistycznych.

W artykule omówiony został problem funkcjonowania terminali kontenerowych usytuowanych w portach morskich Gdańska i Gdyni oraz ich powiązania z zapleczem lądowym kraju, przy wykorzystaniu między innymi transportu śródlądowego operującego na bazie autostrady rzecznej – „Dolna Wisła” w oparciu o istniejący port w Bydgoszczy. Z punktu widzenia zintegrowanych systemów transportowych najlepszym rozwiązaniem przyczyniającym się do rozwoju nowych technologii przewozu masy towarowej okazała się konteneryzacja oraz sprawnie działające terminale morskie i rzeczne. W najbliższej przyszłości należy zaprojektować i zbudować nowoczesne terminale rzeczne w Tczewie oraz w Solcu Kujawskim.
The article discussed the problem of the operation of container terminals located in the ports of Gdansk and Gdynia, and their links to the hinterland of the country, using among others inland transport operating on the basis of river highway - "Lower Vistula" based on the existing port in Bydgoszcz. From the point of view of integrated transport systems the best solution contributing to the development of new technologies carriage of cargo containerization and proved to be efficient sea and river terminals. In the near future should be to design and build modern river terminals in Tczew and in Solec Kujawski.

Chińska inicjatywa pn. Nowy Jedwabny Szlak (NJS) obejmuje sieć korytarzy kolejowych i morskich łączących Chiny z Europą. Jeżeli zostanie zrealizowana, będzie jednym z największych przedsięwzięć logistycznych naszych czasów. Rozwój tych korytarzy stworzy nowe warunki do transportu towarów i rozwoju globalnych łańcuchów dostaw. Można antycypować, że wraz z ich rozwojem nastąpi istotny wzrost transportu kontenerowego. Rozwój korytarzy kolejowych spowoduje przesunięcie części ładunków kontenerowych, dla których istotny jest czas dostawy, z transportu morskiego na rzecz kolejowego i intermodalnego. W artykule przeprowadzono benchmarking transportu kontenerowego krajów Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej jako potencjalnych uczestników NJS. Analiza miała na celu zbadanie potencjału w obszarze transportu kontenerowego badanych krajów, porównanie ich i wskazanie liderów, u których należy poszukiwać najlepszych praktyk w tym zakresie. Na podstawie wyników analizy wskazano kraje, które mają największe szanse na odegranie istotnej roli w tej inicjatywie w obszarze transportu kontenerowego.

Opis:
Containerisation of freight transport significantly facilitates the flow of traded goods between remote destinations. The most important container transport routes link Asia with North America and Europe. The seasonality and imbalance of trade are the main factors giving rise to problems related to empty container repositioning. The aim of this paper is to develop a concept of empty container supply chains and formulate prerequisites for its modelling in the search for the optimal solution with the help of linear programming and mixed integer programming methods. This paper indicates causes of the empty container relocation problem based on the literature analysis with a special focus on the Eurasian transportation route. Also, it provides a concept of empty container supply chain, prerequisites for its modelling and examples of container supply chains modelling presented in the literature. The main results of the paper include conceptualisation of an empty container supply chain and suggested modelling prerequisites. The paper contributes to research in the field of supply chain management and optimisation of transportation.

W artykule omówiony został przebieg rozwoju statków kontenerowych. Omówiono charakterystykę statków kontenerowych, ich klasyfikację oraz specyfikę. Zostały przedstawione wszystkie statki kontenerowe zwodowane i eksploatowane od roku 2006, kiedy ich rozwój stał się najbardziej dynamiczny. Zostały omówione parametry techniczno-eksploatacyjne wiodących jednostek kontenerowych zaliczanych do największych statków na świecie. W artykule przedstawiono trendy rozwoju morskiej gospodarki kontenerowej oraz jego wpływ i skutki na funkcjonowanie polskich portów i terminali kontenerowych.
The introduction of containers and ships adapted to transport them, has been a significant change when it comes to the exchange of material assets in the technology of transport. Because of standardizing containers technically, international trade exchange has become faster and a lot more efficient. Container ships have been fully adjusted to transport containers, which resulted in some changes in their construction, such as: open deck construction and the lack of hatch covers of the cargo hold; displacement of the super-structure closer to the midship than it was till then, close to the stern; cargo hold equipped with guide, container slots facilitating mounting. Very dynamic development of the container ships occurred with the introduction of the m/v Emma Mearsk. This was the breakthrough moment when it comes to the development of the container ships. In the following years, container ship with transport capacity over 15000 TEU were introduced. In addition to as well as the increasing capacity of container ships, it became more common to equip them with systems based on modern technologies allowing them to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions and sulfates, as well as systems dedicated to cleaning and filtration of the seawater (system ecobalast). In May 2017, the OOCL Hong Kong was delivered, which is so far the biggest in the world and could hold of 21413 TEU. Due to the enormous size of the container ships, there are not many ports that could handle them. Investments and finally the construction of T2 terminal in DCT Gdańsk allowed it to be one of not many than can handle container ships as big as OOCL Honk Kong. As a result of the investments, not only the competitiveness and the importance of the port has increased but also the importance of Poland internationally.
