Research background: Transport represents a dynamic element in the tourism system. In recent decades, transport has been a subject of research mainly from the point of view of the sustainability of the economic systems and the environmental aspects. Purpose of the article: This study aimed to quantify the relationships between the selected indicators of road transport development and the expenditure of tourism visitors in the selected European countries in the context of the development of their competitiveness. Methods: The road transport indicators were applied in the research trajectories: density of road (DNST), hare of road infrastructure investment (SH INF), share of motorways (SH MWY), and indicators of visitor expenditure for business (BTS), leisure (LTS), domestic (DTS) and foreign (VEFS) tourism. In the first phase of the analyses, the countries of the European part of the OECD (N = 27; period of 2010-2018) were divided into two clusters based on the development index (HDI) and the innovation index (GII) through the cluster analysis. The two groups were created - more and less developed countries. The results of the analysis of differences declare that there are differences between these groups in the DNST, SH INF, BTS, LTS, and DTS indicators. The correlation and regression analysis methods were applied to quantify the relationships between the variables. Findings & value added: The difference between the groups of the countries was also shown in the relationships between the road transport development indicators and visitor spending. In more developed countries, the relationship between the traffic indicators on BTS and DTS was significant. In less developed countries, significant relationships were identified with LST and VEFS. This finding underscores regional disparities and cautions against assuming that what policy guidelines from developed countries will be effective in less developed ones. Therefore, when designing improvement policies, it is vital to consider countries in terms of their level of development.

The subject of the article is the analysis of solutions and applications of modern information and communication technologies (ICT) in urban centers and the measurement of transport quality indicators, taking into account the requirements of the ISO 37120 standard: Sustainable cities and communities – indicators for city services and quality of life. The article consists of two parts. In part I of the article, the subject of smart cities was introduced, including the functioning concepts of smart city. A description of the shaping of urban spaces and the quality of life in the smart aspect was made, taking into account the issues of sustainable development. The characteristics of the ISO 37120 standard, used to measure the level of services and living conditions in cities, are presented. The basic and auxiliary indicators in the field of city services and quality of life, including those related to transport, were presented. Polish cities that received the smart city certificate were listed. At the end of part I, there was a review of experiences and solutions that improve mobility that operate in selected cities around the world and in Europe.

The subject of the article is the analysis of solutions and applications of modern information and communication technologies (ICT) in urban centers and the measurement of transport quality indicators, taking into account the requirements of the ISO 37120 standard: Sustainable social development – indicators of urban services and quality of life. The article consists of two parts. In part two, the transport indicators are described in detail along with the measurement methodology used, including the selection of source data necessary for the calculation of the indicators. For selected seven capitals of Polish provinces (Kraków, Poznań Szczecin, Białystok, Rzeszów, Olsztyn, Opole) existing smart mobility solutions were presented. The main subject of this part of the article is to present the results based on the ISO 37120 standards in the field of transport, together with a discussion and list of results. At the end, the main conclusions from the reviewed analyses and studies are presented.

W artykule przedstawiono zróżnicowanie przestrzenne oraz zmienność liczby znaczących wypadków (z podziałem na kolizje, wykolejenia, wypadki na przejazdach kolejowo-drogowych i przejściach, wypadki z udziałem osób i poruszających się pojazdów kolejowych oraz pożary) w odniesieniu do pracy eksploatacyjnej w wybranych krajach Europy w latach 2010- 2017, przy wykorzystaniu wskaźników CSI. Wskaźniki CSI (Common Safety Indicators, wspólne wskaźniki bezpieczeństwa) to informacje statystyczne odnoszące się do bezpieczeństwa kolei, gromadzone i  udostępniane przez Agencję Kolejową Unii Europejskiej (European Union Agency for Railways, EUAR), która pozyskuje je od państw członkowskich Unii Europejskiej, jak również od Norwegii i Szwajcarii. Analiza wykazała obecność dużej dysproporcji w liczbie wypadków pomiędzy krajami Europy Zachodniej i Wschodniej, przy generalnym spadku ich liczby pomiędzy 2010 a 2017 r. w obu grupach. Zbadano także strukturę znaczących wypadków – większość stanowiły wypadki z udziałem osób i poruszających się pojazdów kolejowych, a dużym udziałem charakteryzowały się także wypadki na przejazdach kolejowo-drogowych i przejściach, co sugeruje, że na wypadkowość kolei w  badanym okresie w  dużej mierze oddziaływały czynniki zewnętrzne (znajdujące się poza systemem kolejowym). Szczególną uwagę poświęcono w artykule Polsce, która na początku badanego okresu negatywnie wyróżniała się pod względem liczby znaczących wypadków, liczby wykolejeń oraz liczby wypadków z udziałem osób i poruszających się pojazdów kolejowych nie tylko na tle krajów Europy Zachodniej, ale także krajów Europy Wschodniej, by pod koniec okresu w każdej z kategorii osiągnąć niższe wartości wskaźnika niż ta druga grupa krajów.
This paper presents the spatial differentiation and the variation in the number of significant accidents (divided into: collisions, derailments, level-crossing accidents, accidents to persons caused by rolling stock in motion and fires) in relation to operation work in selected European countries from 2010 to 2017, using CSIs. CSIs (Common Safety Indicators) are statistical information relating to rail safety collected and made available by the European Union Agency for Railways (EUAR), which obtains them from European Union member states as well as from Norway and Switzerland. The analysis revealed the presence of a large disproportion in the number of accidents between Western and Eastern European countries, with a general decrease between 2010 and 2017 in both groups. The structure of significant accidents was also examined – accidents to persons caused by rolling stock in motion accounted for the majority, while level-crossing accidents also had a high proportion, suggesting that external factors (outside the railway system) largely influenced railway accident rates during the studied period. Particular attention was paid in the article to Poland, which at the beginning of the period under study was negatively distinguished in terms of the number of significant accidents, the number of derailments and the number of accidents to persons caused by rolling stock in motion not only in comparison with Western European countries, but also Eastern European countries, and at the end of the period in each category reached lower values than the latter group of countries.

This article describes the links between economic level, investment in Research & development (R&D), and Catalan freight transport between 2006 and 2016. Catalonia is the second most populous area in Spain, northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, whose economy ranks second among the Autonomous Communities, surpassed only by the Community of Madrid, to speak of a significant economic and social region. The study sought to answer the question of what economic contexts exist in the region regarding freight transport. To do all this, it uses mathematical-statistical tools to explore the relationships between real data sets, which were calculated using seven indicators. The analyses suggest a positive increase in the volume of imports and exports of goods in the region. The same is true for GDP per capita. It came as a surprise that virtually no positive correlations existed between R&D and any other indicators. In analysing the indicators, we found that the current economy was pushed back by the 2008 world economic change, similarly to international trends. At the same time, there has been rapid growth since 2010, especially in exports. This also means that Spain, particularly the Catalan region, has serious trade relations, which affect the region’s economic development and the freight transport industry.

Alongside the increase in air traffic and number of aircraft, the number of reported aviation events has also been increasing. We processed the data included in the European Coordination Centre for Aviation Incident Reporting Systems (RCCAIRS), analyzing small and large aircraft reliability and the safety of their operations, covering events according to ICAO aviation occurrence categories. Airframe systems are the largest contributor to the total number of reported events which occurred in Polish registered aircraft in the years 2008-2020. A detailed study of airframe systems reliability was carried out in order to assess the real reason for the failures. Airframe systems faults were assigned to specific ATA chapters and then to each of their sections. The results of this analysis may support the decisions of supervisory authorities in the areas where security threats are most important. They can also help aircraft operators with identification of the airframe units which require special attention. Identification of significant parts due to the frequency of malfunctions of particular system components may support designers. In short, these results are valuable in terms of further developments in statistical tools facilitating New Product Introduction (NPI).

Przeprowadzanie cyklicznej oceny systemu transportu zbiorowego w oparciu o obiektywne wskaźniki powinno być punktem wyjścia do działań z nim związanych. Celem artykułu było dokonanie pierwszej oceny wskaźnikowej systemu transportu publicznego w Zielonej Górze. W artykule przybliżono uwarunkowania przestrzenne, demograficzne i organizacyjne funkcjonowania systemu transportu zbiorowego w mieście. Przedstawiono źródła, z których powinno się pozyskiwać dane do oceny systemów oraz aspekty, jakie powinny jej podlegać. Następnie, wykorzystując metodologię zaproponowaną przez Z. Bryniarską i W. Starowicza, przeprowadzono ocenę wskaźnikową systemu transportu zbiorowego w mieście poprzez określenie jego dostępności przestrzenno-demograficznej, przeanalizowano wielkość i sposób realizacji pracy przewozowej, obliczono i zwizualizowano potoki pasażerskie oraz zidentyfikowano godziny szczytów przewozowych. Do oceny wskaźnikowej posłużyły dane z badań napełnień w pojazdach przeprowadzonych w 2018 roku. Wraz z danymi dotyczącymi pracy eksploatacyjnej pozyskano je od operatora systemu – Miejskiego Zakładu Komunikacji w Zielonej Górze. Ocena wykazała, że na 1 km2 przypadało 0,73 przystanku, a średni promień dojścia do niego był równy 440 metrom. Z systemu korzystało 60 tysięcy pasażerów dziennie i ponad 17 milionów rocznie. Wskazano odcinek, po którym poruszało się najwięcej pasażerów (blisko 1/3 wszystkich). Zidentyfikowano dwa szczyty przewozowe w dni powszednie (poranny i popołudniowy) oraz okresy o wzmożonej intensywności przewozów w soboty i niedziele. Średnia prędkość, czas i odległość przejazdu były typowe dla systemów w miastach podobnej wielkości. Przedstawione wskaźniki powinny być odniesieniem do ocen przeprowadzanych w kolejnych latach, pozwalającym w łatwy sposób zidentyfikować aspekty, które należy poprawić w celu podniesienia jego wydajności i atrakcyjności.
Indicator evaluation of public transport system is useful tool for assessment of the system and comparison with other systems. Objective measures can be also compared with fixed standards or past performances. Indicator evaluation of public transport system is used for ensuring continuous improving efficiency and quality of the transport services. The aim of this paper was to make the first index-based assessment of the public transport system in Zielona Góra. The article discusses the spatial, demographic and organizational conditions of the public transport system functions in the city. The sources from which data should be obtained for system evaluation and the aspects that should be subject to evaluation are presented. Next, using the methodology proposed by Z. Bryniarska and W. Starowicz, an index-based evaluation of the city’s public transport system was carried out by determining its spatial and demographic accessibility, analysing the size and method of transport work, calculating and visualising passenger flows, and identifying peak hours. The data was obtained from the system operator – Municipal Transport Company in Zielona Góra (Miejski Zakład Komunikacji w Zielonej Górze) – data of 2018. The assessment showed that there were 0.73 stops per 1 km2, and the average radius of access to a stop was equal to 440 meters. The system was used by 60 thousand passengers per day and over 17 million per year. The section with the most passengers (nearly 1/3 of the total) was identified. Two weekday traffic peaks (morning and afternoon) were identified, as well as peak periods on Saturdays and Sundays. Average speed, travel time and travel distance were typical of systems in cities of similar size. The presented indicators should be a reference for the evaluations carried out in the following years, allowing to easily identify aspects that need to be improved in order to increase its efficiency and attractiveness.

International transport corridors are part of the global transport system and are an important part of the activities of the Organisation for Co-operation of Railways2 . The development activities in the Eurasian space are aimed at modernising and developing rail transport by upgrading the technical and operational parameters of the corridors in order to improve the competitiveness of railways in freight transport in Asia and Europe. These corridors are widely used to plan and organise the routing of container trains in international traffic between the OSJD member states. Today, nearly 300 container trains are in continuous operation. The aim of the article is to present the activities to date in the development of corridors, their role and importance in rail transport in the area of the member states of the Organisation for Co-operation of Railways. The article presents issues related to the development and freight transport on 13 international rail transport corridors from the Eurasian railway area. New corridor solutions were highlighted, as well as the New Silk Road3 which is part of China’s broader so-called One Belt, One Road Initiative concept. It is a global infrastructure plan developed in China and implemented in more than 100 countries, mainly in countries referred to as emerging markets.

There is a need for vehicle relocation, whether for delivering new vehicles to their selling destinations, pulling inoperative or damaged vehicles out of traffiic, or removing illegally parked vehicles from the street. The relocation of illegally parked vehicles in the City of Zagreb is done by constantly monitoring parked vehicles or through citizen telephone alerts. The paper analyses the vehicle relocation service of the Zagrebparking company, which, in addition to overseeing car park management in public car parks and garages, is in charge of removing illegally parked vehicles. Due to the cyclic nature of its operations, a high share of empty rides, high vehicle investment costs, small quantities of cargo transported, high fuel prices, and high fuel consumption in the urban environment, Zagrebparking’s Vehicle Relocation Department operates with unnecessarily high costs. In this paper, vehicle relocation efficiency is analysed by presenting indicators of vehicle utilisation as part of a systematic evaluation of the company. Improvements to the current service are also provided.

A properly functioning public transport is one of the most important components of urban mobility for the population. Due to spatial inhomogeneity and overall socio-economic differences within a city, there are often considerable disproportions in the quality of transport services within its districts. Also, the city of Krakow is no exception in this case. For a comparison of public transport accessibility in 18 Krakow districts, 7 major quantitative and 5 minor indicators were created. These indicators include the most important characteristics of transport services such as accessibility, frequency, connectivity of connections, and ratios of tram public transport subsystem. The resulting values give a fairly comprehensive picture of the quality of the transport services. Overall higher values for most indicators occur in the central districts of the city. However, due to the complexity of the observed characteristics, it is possible to discover significant differences in the structure of individual indicators. Peripheral districts reach higher amplitudes, which means that in some aspect they have even better transport services than the city center. Yet, at the same time, we also find opposite extremes here, highly below-average values for most other indicators. A detailed analysis of the results provides a unique perspective on the disparities among districts. It can also serve for specific identification of strengths and weaknesses of transport services and its possible optimization.

The importance of transport for sustainable development has become significant at the UN conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro as early as 1992. In the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which contains a total of 17 sustainability goals, sustainable transport has been anchored as a cross-cutting theme. In particular, emissions associated with transport are a problem for the sustainable development goals and have to be reduced. The objective of this paper is to analyze transport-related indicators in relation to sustainable development in the period from 2005 to 2016 at the national level. The method of secondary analysis is used. The results demonstrate only one indicator corresponding to the goal of sustainable development. However, two indicators do not correspond to a sustainable development in the considered period. Thus, appropriate measures have become necessary for these particular facts promoting a sustainable development.

The article presents an analysis of risk factors that may cause disruptions affecting the shipping of parts and components for the automotive industry. In this regard, based on literature research, the meaning of a disruption risk and its management in transport processes are discussed. Furthermore, the role of the transport and logistics companies in the provision of services for the automotive sector is presented. In the next section, the methodology of risk factor analysis and assessment is determined and the results of studies conducted on disruptions that may have a key impact on the transport process of the analysed company are presented. Aim of the paper: The aim of the article is to determine the influence of disruptions in the transport processes of parts and components for the automotive industry through the analysis and assessment of disruption risk factors. Materials and methods: The tools and methods proposed to assess the risk of disruptions affecting the order execution for the transport service of parts and components for the automotive industry by the company under examination were as follows: an indicative analysis, a disruption risk assessment form, an expert judges method, PHA method and a risk matrix. Results and conclusions: The analysis has allowed for the identification of risk factors, which, due to the potential consequences estimated by a group of experts as well as the probability of occurrence, may have a key impact on the transport process in the investigated company. Indicative analysis has shown that the timeliness of transport, which is associated with delivery time, is a major issue in a company. This formed the basis for the further analysis of process disruptions.

Opis:
The work presents a methodology that allows us to evaluate the effectiveness of the system in accordance with accepted standards in terms of the three components of the “passenger–carrier–department” system, taking into account the interests of each side. The given comprehensive effectiveness evaluation of the urban public passenger transport system shows that a new scientific idea consists in forming fundamentally new sets of indicators for each participant of the system (passenger–carrier–department of transport) that correspond to the conditions of functioning of the urban passenger transport system in Russian Federation. The article presents a classification model for the formation of a basic system of indicators and a functional scheme for grouping and ranking them. The effectiveness of the urban public passenger transport system can be considered separately for each participant in the system from its side, in two directions: horizontal (by year, for example, for an enterprise) and vertical (in the current period for all participants).

Silna konkurencja w usługach przyczynia się w dużym stopniu do wzrostu znaczenia jakości w działalności praktycznie wszystkich przedsiębiorstw, w tym również transportowych. Wobec tego niezmiernie ważne staje się poznanie preferencji klientów oraz stopnia atrakcyjności oferty przedsiębiorstwa. Warunki obecnej gospodarki wywierają duży wpływ na firmy transportowe. Dlatego też przedsiębiorstwa muszą różnicować oferowane usługi, czyli starają się dopasować właściwe rozwiązania do specyfiki konkretnego klienta, a nawet powinny wyprzedzać jego oczekiwania. Zatem współcześnie świadczenie usług przestaje być problemem, natomiast trudniejszym zadaniem staje się znalezienie potencjalnego klienta, który nosiłby się z zamiarem wielokrotnego nabycia określonej usługi. W artykule przeprowadzono analizę oraz ocenę procesu transportowego w wybranym przedsiębiorstwie sektora TSL z wykorzystaniem wybranych wskaźników logistycznych.
Strong competition in services contributes significantly to the increase in the importance of quality in the activities of virtually all enterprises, including transport. Therefore, it is extremely important to learn the preferences of customers and the degree of attractiveness of the company's offer. The conditions of the current economy exert a great influence on transport companies. Therefore, enterprises have to differentiate the services offered, i.e. they try to match the right solutions to the specifics of a particular customer, and should even exceed their expectations. Therefore, nowadays the provision of services ceases to be a problem, but the more difficult task is to find a potential customer who would be willing to purchase a specific service multiple times. The article analyzes and evaluates the transport process in a selected enterprise of the TSL sector with the use of selected logistics indicators.
