Opis:
The interval function and the induced path function are two well studied class of set functions of a connected graph having interesting properties and applications to convexity, metric graph theory. Both these functions can be framed as special instances of a general set function termed as a transit function defined on the Cartesian product of a non-empty set V to the power set of V satisfying the expansive, symmetric and idempotent axioms. In this paper, we propose a set of independent first order betweenness axioms on an arbitrary transit function and provide characterization of the interval function of Ptolemaic graphs and the induced path function of chordal graphs in terms of an arbitrary transit function. This in turn gives new characterizations of the Ptolemaic and chordal graphs.

Opis:
Transport activity may lead to multiple problems that decrease the quality of life of commuters. Among the many methods used to cope with these problems, considerable attention has been paid to the development of transit. Effective transit systems may encourage inhabitants to move away from the use of private cars to mass transport. It is therefore essential to identify the factors that contribute to high levels of ridership. Among such factors, land use mixture is often mentioned. However, it is unclear how it affects ridership. Therefore, to encourage further studies, it is important to develop methods of classification of spatial units in terms of land use mixture. Such analyses should be conducted for similar levels of transit supply. Hence, the aim of this paper was to develop a method of classification of spatial units in terms of land use mixture and transit supply. The method uses different characteristics of land use and transit supply as factors in the process of classification. The proposed method was used for an area in the city of Katowice to demonstrate its application.

Aim. The aim of this article is to analyse legal and illegal trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan in the post 2010 era. According to the complex interdependence, the region is witnessing a regional security complex and the relationship between the actors is characterised by both cooperation and competition (Rana, 2015). In these circumstances, the national security defines in a narrower sense of protection of a nation from physical attack and safeguarding its economic activities from devastating outside threats (Gandhi, 2010). Both Pakistan and Afghanistan are pursuing their own national interests in the context of national security and sometimes, their national security interests compete with each other. Method. The qualitative method of research was employed to analyse the implications of legal and illegal trade between Afghanistan-Pakistan in post 2010 era. The data was collected from different sources including books, scientific journals, research articles, newspapers and websites. Results. By using various valuable references, it has been verified that beside the political and geological factors, low prices of the smuggled items and corruption are also main reasons of exploitation of the Afghan’s transit trade. It has created bad impact on Pakistan’s economy and well as it is still threatening other national interests of the country. Conclusion. The study confirms that the menace of smuggling can be decreased through durable policies and well-connected measures. A checks and balances system should be activated in the context in Pakistan and differences with Afghanistan’s government should be decreased through a bilateral dialogue process.

Kolej już od chwili otwarcia linii krakowskiej w połowie XIX wieku stała się istotnym czynnikiem wpływającym na rozwój przestrzenny miasta. Artykuł omawia poszczególne fazy i obszary oddziaływania kolei: plan Krakowskiego Zespołu Miejskiego z lat 60. XX wieku, w którym proponowano zintegrowany z siecią tras kolejowych „rusztowy” układ przestrzenny, koncepcję rozwoju nowego centrum Krakowa w powiązaniu z dworcem kolejowym (lata 60.), a także późniejszy rozwój Krakowskiego Centrum Komunikacyjnego w latach 80. Wskazuje na pozytywne oddziaływanie inwestycji KCK na otaczający obszar śródmieścia. Artykuł prezentuje ideę rozwoju miasta w oparciu o układ tras kolei aglomeracyjnej (SKA) prezentowaną we wstępnej fazie opracowania planu miasta (2012 rok). Rysuje wreszcie hipotetyczną wizję Krakowa przyszłości jako „miasta regionalnego”, gdzie rozwój intensywnie zainwestowanych obszarów w zasięgu stacji kolei aglomeracyjnej – w oparciu o ideę ”Transit Oriented Development” (rozumianą jako rozwój lub planowanie skoncentrowane na optymalnym wykorzystaniu dostępności transportu zbiorowego, szczególnie o dużej zdolności przewozowej) - mógłby stać się alternatywą dla postępującego zjawiska „rozlewania się” zabudowy miejskiej.
Rail transport has become an important factor in development of the city since opening of the Krakow line in the 19th century. The article presents various stages and areas of urban development influenced by railway system: Krakow Agglomeration Plan from the 1960s integrating railway network with urban structure, the concept for the new City Center around railway station (1960s) and later, development of the Krakow Transportation Center in the 1980s. It argues that the center (KCK) has significantly contributed to improvement of urban quality of the surrounding inner city. Development of the city based on rail rapid transit was proposed in the early concepts for Krakow planning scheme in 2012. The article outlines future hypothetical scenarios for Krakow as the Regional City where development of densely built-up areas around rail rapid transit could present an alternative to increasingly progressing urban sprawl.

W artykule zostały przedstawione wyniki badań poziomu hałasu komunikacyjnego, przeprowadzonych na drodze lokalnej przed oraz po otwarciu odcinka autostrady A4. Odcinek pomiarowy został wybrany na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy natężenia ruchu pojazdów. Przed otwarciem odcinka autostrady pomiędzy węzłem Batory w Chorzowie a węzłem Sośnica w Gliwicach, stanowiącego obwodnicę dla południowych dzielnic miasta Ruda Śląska, droga lokalna, dla której przeprowadzono pomiary, była główną arterią dla ruchu tranzytowego wschód - zachód.
The following paper presents the results of the measurements of the traffic noise near local road before and after, the next part of motorway has been opened. The section of motorway has been chosen taking into consideration the analysis of number of vehicles. Before the next part of motorway, between the Batory interchange in Chorzów and the Sośnica interchange in Gliwice, was opened, the local road had been the main transit road from east to west.

This article considers the questions of creating the Euro-region on the example of Lugansk region, Ukraine. International, inter-regional cooperation is an important component in the development of foreign economic relations of Ukraine. Reforming of social - economic relationships in Ukraine, structural rearrangement of all mechanisms of society vital functions creates the background for the acceleration of territorial development of every region, first of all at the expense of beneficial geographical position and technological accessibility of transport - logistic service.
В данной статье рассматриваются вопросы создания Еврорегиона на примере Луганской области, Украины. Международное, межрегиональное сотрудничество является важной составляющей в развитии внешнеэкономических связей Украины. Реформирование социально – экономических отношений в Украине, структурная перестройка всех механизмов жизнедеятельности общества создает предпосылки для ускорения территориального развития каждого из регионов прежде всего за счет выгодности географического расположения и технологической доступности транспортно – логистических услуг.

Opis:
n-ary transit functions are introduced as a generalization of binary (2-ary) transit functions. We show that they can be associated with convexities in natural way and discuss the Steiner convexity as a natural n-ary generalization of geodesicaly convexity. Furthermore, we generalize the betweenness axioms to n-ary transit functions and discuss the connectivity conditions for underlying hypergraph. Also n-ary all paths transit function is considered.

Linear megastructures, apart from megastructures in general, are one of several types of concepts in context of linear urban development. The term refers to various compact architectural, infrastructural and transportation plans in linear form. With their daunting massive scale these concepts are often attributed to utopian attempts of pursuing an ideal city and therefore doomed to remain unrealized. This paper examines several models created throughout the course of history in terms of their emergence motivation, socio-economic circumstances and relation to urban sustainability. Through the analysis, it is argued that linear megastructures are often unjustly rejected without acknowledgement of their underlying beneficial features in terms of mitigating challenges to sustainable urban development.

В статье проанализировано технологическое состояние международных транспортных коридоров и объемы перевозок грузов территорией Украины. Представленная характеристика международных транспортных коридоров описывает восемь коридоров, проходящих по террито-рии Украины. В статье также выявлены проблемы использования транзитного потенциала меж-дународных транспортных коридоров Украины. В то же время рассмотрены перспективы исполь-зования транзитного потенциала международных транспортных коридоров за счет развития логистической инфраструктуры и создания транспортно-логистических центров.
W opracowaniu analizie poddano stan technologiczny międzynarodowych korytarzy transportowych i rozmiary przewozów przez terytorium Ukrainy. Przedstawione charakterystyki międzynarodowych korytarzy transportowych dotyczą ośmiu korytarzy, które przechodzą przez terytorium Ukrainy. W artykule wyeksponowano problemy wykorzystania potencjału tranzytowego międzynarodowych korytarzy transportowych Ukrainy. Jednocześnie rozważaniom poddano perspektywy wykorzystania potencjału tranzytowego międzynarodowych korytarzy transportowych pod kątem rozwoju infrastruktury logistycznej oraz kreacji centrów transportowo-logistycznych.
In this article the technological state of international transport corridors and the freight volumes by the territory of Ukraine are analyzed. A presented characteristic of international transport corridors describes eight corridors, which pass through the territory of Ukraine. The article exposes the problems of transit potential usage of the international transport corridors of Ukraine. At the same time the perspectives of transit potential usage of the international transport corridors for account of logistical infrastructure development and creation of transport-logistical centers are considered.

W artykule zaprezentowano system Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), innowacyjne rozwiązanie transportowe, wdrażane w nielicznych aglomeracjach miejskich. Scharakteryzowano przykłady rozwiązań BRT na świecie. Zidentyfikowano kluczowe wskaźniki w zakresie BRT. Wdrożenie BRT połączone jest z osiąganiem istotnych korzyści, do których należą: szybkość realizacji inwestycji na etapie projektowania i wykonawstwa, w porównaniu z innymi rodzajami transportu, stosunkowo niskie koszty inwestycji i koszty eksploatacji, a także możliwość połączenia z już istniejącą siecią drogową, co wykazano w publikacji.
The article presents the Bus Rapid Transit System. It’s an innovative transport solution, implemented in many urban aglomerations. BRT solutions in the world have been characterized. Key BRT indicators have been identified.

Accurate design of infrastructure for public transport is the basis for the efficient functioning of traffic and passenger transportation. The article presents an analysis of the availability of public transport stops. The measure of the availability relates to access times to certain stops from other stops and the surroundings of the transport hub. The article discusses the scope and the objective of measuring pedestrian and passenger traffic. It also presents an analysis of transition times for the passengers who change their means of transport and need to reach a stop. The provided measurements were carried out on a two-level interchange tram-bus hub. Thus they should be part of any assessment of the quality of passenger service in the hub.
